#sherlock and co #s&co #sherlock holmes #john watson #mariana ametxazurra #Ive been thinking abt these design SO much lmao. even while doing other things #decided to take cues from acd/granada more. hence sherlock's headband to mimic slicked back hair #and I went with Colors bc. well first of all Im a clown. but second of all I recall some stuff abt victorian fabrics and uh. the wonder of #arsenic green etc #they were enjoying the colors I can commit to some #and. okay Im so real with u Im also a long haired john truther bc he has a podcast of course he'd have long hair but #I think its gonna take a Hot minute. currently this is still like the slightly-grown-out regulation cut #john's jacket is bc he and sherlock are 90s kids. this was a moment of enlightenment to me. I can give john every windbreaker on earth #mariana gets the jean jacket bc I like to imagine she's a y2k kid #(sherlock I think is only 90s kid in year of birth that man's childhood was skipping class to burn shit in the wood)#(but he canonically sews which I fucking love so much. he has not bought new clothes for almost a decade #if a shirt's disintegrating no it isn't. not on his watch)#a lil sad I cant figure out how to give them hats lol I feel like thats the most victorian thing there is. a stupid hat #I can at any moment give one of them a beanie. but I refuse #there are. like a Hoard of other scribbly sketches I did to get used to drawing them. but those are for me those are not for the public #and also theyre in my sketchbook and Im too lazy to scan them #happened mostly during lunar new year lol. Cow sewing time!

Pink with polka dots was not the most commonly picked option but my grandma really liked the idea of a pink polka dotted cow so that’s what I’m going with lol

#sewing wip #cow plushie wip #the cutting mat is deceptive I did not use my rotary cutter #I just needed a flat surface so I could trace pattern pieces lol #also I found a pattern for a praying mantis!!!#I want to make it so bad!!! but I need to finish this cow first #and also I should maybe slow my roll on purchasing patterns for a bit. spread out my pattern purchases #…but praying mantis though?? and that pattern designer has a really really cute werewolf pattern #I want to make the werewolf for my nibling for the holidays #but I have to check with my friend if he still likes werewolves #kids change interests as they get older and that is totally fine but also I want to check before I sew the present lol #also a giant whale shark pattern. gotta make that.

why is so much of sewing just tracing and cutting and tracing again q_q i see why people get projectors and use adobe illustrator now

#drawing up a design that i can easily pattern from my sloper: 😊#actually having to make the pattern by tracing and cutting ad infinitum: 😰#piecing together printer paper to get a big enough sheet of paper and doing this ten million times: 🥲😭#not to mention the IRONING.... prewashing the fabric and having to iron 8 yards of fabric???? excuse me????#and then distorting it as i iron bc it has a slight stretch and i got so tired i stopped being careful 2 yards in #and the way that you're supposed to press every seam... excuse me... am i just supposed to have my iron heated and on standby at all times #AND THE STEAM??? i just got stay tape the other day and thought it'd be a neat alternative to stay stitching #BUT IT NEEDS STEAM TO ACTIVATE (which okay makes sense) BUT long story short i'm too afraid to use the steam function #on my iron because none of us are sure if water should go back into a tank that's been in disuse for 30+ years #so instead i get this water spray pen and delicately spray down the length of each piece of stay tape #before i cover it with a piece of gauze and iron it. and then i have to iron it extra so all the water actually evaporates #oh and the spray pen holds as much water as half a pen so i have to walk to the kitchen every 10 sprays to refill it #and i have to do this for every curved edge on my pattern pieces #i mean the alternative is just stay stitching but then i would have to calibrate my settings for a single layer of fabric instead of double #which means i have to switch my needle out more and i'm still new enough that sometimes i install a needles wrong despite going through #all the same exact motions that i usually would. i'm LITERALLY suffering out here. anyway can't wait to sew or whatever #oh and did i mention i went to a sewing meetup recently? yeah...#everyone there bought like $30-$100/yard fabric and i was there awkwardly knowing i only buy like $12/yard fabric #honestly though i have the opposite problem people usually joke about. i find it So hard to find fabric i actually like #it needs to be the right fiber + right color + right pattern/texture + right weight + i have to know exactly what i'm going to make with it

#not my usual but here tote bag i made as commission for a friend #didn't watch the show myself but she's a big fan so #beyond evil #took me forever to sew all parts together and i even fucked up with how i cut fabric only to realise that almost in the end #bc it was meant to be deep and not vide but i made cut in fabric the wrong way around #but it is what it is and me and my friend decided to call it 💅 design 💅#also straps are rough as part of the actual design. i tried to match them with patches of letters #and letters probably took me the longest with how much i needed to do before even cutting the fabric and them figuring out in what way #i need to sew each letter to white piece of fabric (none of them repeats in a way tgey are attached)#anyway yeah #I'm thinking of making bez tote but I'll more likely just buy one instead of sewing it lmao #totebag #sewing #craft

Heads up, no Trigun X Tangled comic update this week 🥲 I’m considering tweaking my update schedule to accommodate for my inconsistent work schedule… (I’m thinking of switching from every Wednesday to something like every 9-10 days? Idk rn.)

I’ve also been busy getting some sewing out of my system (because it’s been 5 months lol). I made this random crazy shirt out of a curtain yesterday with like zero plans and it ended up reminding me of both Meryl and Knives.

somehow, I don't know how, but somehow sewing machines always know when you're nearly done with a project and pick that exact moment to throw a hissy fit

#sewing #sewing machines #I am so close to finishing this dumb swimsuit that I started in 2020 for a vacation that ended up not happening #and which I stuffed into a shoebox and into the back of my sewing stash when I realized I wouldn't get to wear it in 2020 #then pulled it back out to finish for this family gathering coming up in a few days here #it's a one-piece suit and I hate one-piece swimsuits #and no one-piece has fit me off the rack since puberty so I'm stuck sewing it for myself #but I'm very happy with the design and relatively happy with the finished look #the idea is just to have something that is supportive and modest enough to wear around family #and in particular to wear to something like a waterpark with my nephews #something that won't ride up or fall down or come untied or anything like that #so it has a low-cut leg hole and a high-cut neck #and an entire invisible superstructure in the lining underneath to actually provide support and enclosure and all #it's plain black but it fits and supports and won't fly apart at the seams #but this very last step. oh this last step.#I had to drape the exterior bust area directly on me bc I can't account for curves and stretch and such if it's flat on the table #and then I had to wiggle out of it carefully with a ton of pins in the underarm and neckline area #I'm using a double-needle to top stitch the edges as a finish across the whole suit. it did one underarm and the neckline just fine!#but the turn from where the neckline meets the strap and down into the other underarm it just. won't do it.#it has thrown a fit and created a tangle of thread multiple times now. there are only 4" left to sew! just sew it!#it's not hard! we just did the exact same thing on the other side and it worked fine! but no! gotta throw a hissy fit!#ugh. anyway. I have removed all the thread and needles from the machine and turned it off and basically sent it to timeout lol #wrote this rant and gonna make myself some food and I'll fucking finish those last 4 inches later tonight or tomorrow #and then I have one tiny repair to something else I want to take on this trip. hopefully my sewing machine won't throw a fit over that too #istg the only projects this doesn't happen with are the ones that end with a bunch of handsewing #that's the way to trick my sewing machine I guess. but I'm not handsewing a swimsuit lol #at least I'm not so pressed for time that I can't just walk away from it for a bit. getting close to time to pack but not quite yet #my sewing #2024 mood #tagtalking
