thinking about chongyun in a dnd esque fantasy setting and he'd probably be a sorcerer paladin. i can't decide if he'd be a sorcerer or a wizard though, would his yang energy be considered innate magic? or would his upbringing in thaumaturgy make him a wizard? this actually brings up interesting questions about chongyun's lore aka whether or not his bloodline has magical ancestry. Is it innate or cultivated/learned throughout generations? ooo.. he could be a wild sorcerer, someone who struggles wielding their innate magic..
but anyway, xingqiu imo would be a rogue fighter maybe? more fighter than rogue... giving him the latter class just because he's a sneaky lil shit
it's easier to give chongyun and xingqiu dnd classes because their weapons and chara stories slot easily into the categories, but for characters who are generic fighters like xiangling and hu tao, it's a little hard to give them something specific. but it allows for some creative liberty so i will say hu tao is a wizard. Xiangling would be a ranger (good for hunting and foraging)
Gaming, my boy, would be a bard and a fighter. yunjin a bard, xinyan also a bard (they'd be a little troupe hehe).
I was watching dunmesh w a friend and we started talking about dnd and bg3. they're more well versed in fantasy terminology so i'm learning as i go. super fun to think about though. i quite adore dnd and fantasy settings a lot
#tangy talks genshin#mm i don't think i'll ever expand upon this au#i just like categorizing.. genshin's current āclassā groups are too linear imo.. like yep this person wields a claymore#it's always fun to specify their roles a bit. i think combat abilities in fantasy settings creates lots of avenues for character identities#which just makes them a lot funner to construct... i appreciate this most in fiction. this is why i dont rly like modern aus if the source#material is fantasy sometimes. i think for chongyun's case though his yang energy could be translated to a neurodivergent trait eg autism#but the thing is chongyun to me is already autistic in the context of canon LOL so his yang energy is something a little bit separate-#-from that#wow these tags are long as hell#chongyun#xingqiu#hu tao#xiangling#yunjin#gaming#the more i think about this the more i appreciate chongyun FHSDJG he's so cool cmon. i love him

I firmly believe that Kabru is autistic but masks so hard that heās convinced himself and (almost) everyone around him that heās neurotypical.
That manās special interest is people and how they work, but he just thinks itās him Being So Good At Socializing ā like he doesnāt spend 95% of his time people watching and adjusting his personality in response to the traits he witnesses and obsessing over the intricacies of human interaction while mapping an ever growing relationship chart in his head. For fun. He even admits it in the manga!
Like, look at him!!!
Itās such a shame that ā because heās the narrative foil to Laios and his interest is generally considered more āsocially acceptableā in both their world and our own ā more people donāt realize this about him. Heās constantly misinterpreted as a horribly manipulative person who only acts the way he does to use the people around him, when thatās explicitly shown to not be the case at all. Kabru is naturally empathetic and is almost always thinking about other people, regardless of whether or not theyāre right there with him or a thousand miles away.
I mean, his most defining motivation is his desire to do everything he can to avoid another tragedy like the one at Utaya. Someone who doesnāt care wouldnāt have a goal like that, and they most certainly wouldnāt go about it the way he does. Heās constantly working to help people who can help everyone else and tries so hard to make sure that anyone who seems like a threat is actually someone he needs to worry about before doing anything about it. His supposed aversion to Laios is only because of the ridiculous trolley problem heās set up in his own head.
Outside of that, he (rather justifiably) hates monsters but is desperate to understand Laiosā love for them and his apparently most selfish goal in getting close to the guy was literally just to become friends with him.
When heās interacting with the canaries and they imply that theyāre going to take him and all of his friends to the West, his first thought is of Rin and how much sheād hate to be stuck in the place that gave her so many bad memories.
He helps Kuro learn Common when Mickbell is asleep and firmly looks forward to the day that the half-foot and Kuro can communicate properly so that their relationship can get properly started without any miscommunication.
And he understands Mithrun with only a handful of weeks AT BEST interacting with him, getting enraged when the elf seems to give up and immediately trying to help him find a new motivation for life.
Iām excited just thinking about the day that Kabru starts unmasking more and more around his friends ā both new and old ā because if being with my current friend group has taught me anything, itās that hanging out with anyone so unabashedly themselves is bound to make you more comfortable with yourself too. Itās part of the reason why I like Labru so much! Thereās something nice about imagining them hanging out in the throne room or laying in the grass outside and talking for hours on end about their special interests. They might not strictly understand what the other finds so fascinating about monsters or people, but they can grasp that shared feeling of love.
They probably influence each other in really good ways too, with Kabru helping Laios figure out what people are thinking even when it doesnāt make sense or Laios helping Kabru understand that not everyone and everything needs to be analyzed a thousand times over. They both get to learn that there are people like them and people who will love them without them ever having to change a thing about themselves. They deserve to know that theyāre fine the way they are.
#I have so many more thoughts about these two#like how Laios is actually the one who couldnāt really care about people outside of his immediate friends and family#that his love is the one that would burn down the world if it meant the people he cared about got to be as safe and happy as they should be#always as themselves#never as the corrupted versions of them in their nightmares or by the winged lions distortions#which is how Kabru would learn to be more selfish and needy#encouraged to act on his own desires and help other people at the same time#these two have ruined me#especially Kabru#because Iām predictable and my other two favorite characters are Tachihara Michizou and Nara Shikamaru#dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#dungeon meshi kabru#kabru of utaya#dungeon meshi laios#laios touden#dungeon meshi rin#rinsha fana#dungeon meshi mickbell#mickbell#dungeon meshi kuro#kuro#dungeon meshi mithrun#mithrun#labru

Okay, I have many disabled characters. All kinds: blind, deaf, autistic, dwarfism, wheelchair users both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, etc. Main characters and minor. I even have multiple characters with the same disability!
One of my characters I kinda wonder if he's a stereotype. 1: he's totally blind (zero light perception) and is my only totally blind character thus far (other blind characters have some level of vision) 2: he does have the superhuman hearing trope AND he has the pure white eyes stereotypically associated with blind characters even though he was born blind and doesn't have cataracts. The thing is... The superhuman hearing and pure white eyes are a trait of the made up fantasy race/culture/species he belongs to. They ALL have them, and almost all of the other members we see in the story are not blind.
Full disclosure: we don't currently have blind mods and I'm just trying my best here. I heavily recommend you check out @blindbeta's blog for a better insight!
Hi!
It's great that you have multiple disabled characters already! That certainly helps here, as well as just being nice to see :-)
1: he's totally blind
While this is the main representation of blindness and is "over-represented" (in quotes because it's in comparison only of course), just having someone be totally blind wouldn't be a stereotype. It happens, just in 10-15% of blind people rather than 100% which is what a lot of people think. But as you said, you have other blind characters who still have some amount of sight left. I believe that you're completely fine here. It's great to represent blindness as the wide spectrum that it is!
2: he does have the superhuman hearing trope AND he has the pure white eyes
This on the other hand does go into some common tropes that don't really reflect reality. If you want this character to be blind, it's a bit tricky. First thing, it's important to establish that it's a species characteristic and not because he's blind. It would be helpful if you had sighted characters of his kind introduced before or alongside him. Same thing for having other blind characters without white eyes etc. appear in the story before him! Other than that, make sure to show him with aids that blind people use. Just because he can hear well doesn't mean he knows where the edge of the staircase is or magically knows what's written in a book. It shouldn't make his blindness irrelevant.
Finally and most importantly, here's a link to a post by blindbeta who talks about echolocation as a trope. They happen to mention the difference between human vs non-human creatures using it which is very relevant here! I highly recommend you give it a read.
If you want to be safer, you can also have a second character with no light perception who's human (or other species that doesn't have super hearing or white eyes)!
Lastly, I know this wasn't the point of the ask, but: cataracts don't really make your eyes completely white. They mostly cover the pupil (because they affect the lens), not the whole eye. You might have been thinking of corneal blindness (caused most commonly by River blindness, a parasitic condition) which makes the pupil and iris lighter, but still it's not like they're absent nor that the whole thing is sclera-white.
I hope this helps!

oh man... you have no idea what i'm about to drop on you all.
HEY!!! so. I made a GIANT list of headcanons for Sun and Moon that are all autism related since I have an excuse to now. I gave twitter a warning but I forgot to here so sorry to anyone who clicks to keep reading and goes into this post unprepared.
I did want to make an attempt to make this easy to read so, Green is just going to be for regular but still have some in depth meaning for why it's on this list, Orange is for a headcanon that is more serious!! I try to word myself correctly and explain why these ones are important in the case of accurate. (sometimes PAINFULLY accurate) representation. I wanted to go in depth for symptoms that are less discussed. so i'm going to discuss them the best I can regardless because their just as important to representation. ideas that stray from canon and are more my interpretations of how I think they'd act in certain situations will be pink
Both get frustrated when you mess with their stuff (this could just be a cleanliness deal for the daycare exclusively, however the barrels arenāt exactly a major mess since there are so few of them, so it can also be taken as wanting items a certain way. I kind of headcanon it as a bit of both tbh
I think Sun would have a strong sense of justice. He is a āheroā character as far as old theater traits go. And his canon behavior suggests heās both petty and controlling of his environment. I believe those traits are a result of his current situation, but with this headcanon a sense of justice would go in perfectly because it means heās strongly bound to his moral beliefs. Now itās good to mention a strong sense of justice is NOT always a good thing!! Having a strong sense of justice does not automatically mean someone has all the correct moral beliefs, but it can sometimes make people self righteous (especially when they arenāt self aware.) but anyways moral righteousness does not always mean correctness!! I really like this headcanon especially because itās complex, it falls into morally gray areas. Has good intentions but can hurt people by accident. Some of this applies to Moon too but I have less canon material to work with.
I think Moon would go COMPLETELY non verbal when upset, but it would go easily unnoticed because people might just assume heās always quiet. which y'know. isn't okay obviously, but for his circumstance I do feel it would be at least accurate.
I donāt think they would know about being autistic themselves. LET ME EXPLAIN. So if the Fallfest thing is right theyāre potentially from the 70s, that makes them old. Plus theyāre robots. Itās not like someone realistically would go and diagnose them with autism, unless like, the guy that made them was autistic and was projecting onto them HARD. but what iāve noticed from older family members that went nearly their whole life without a diagnosis?? They kind of just. Suffer and think itās normal. My father has ADHD and kind of went most of his life thinking he was just a problematic kid in school, actually i still think he does š (spoiler: he had a hard time focusing on subjects he wasnāt hyper fixated on and was treated without any accommodations even considered) the reason i bring this up for Sun and Moon is i think they sort of just go about their business thinking itās normal and everyone experiences those things. So basically I think theyād be undiagnosed in the fnaf universe (or could have some outdated information about autism stored somewhere, like I even did a few years ago. because in my opinion I haven't really seen any widespread information until more recently and that's how I found out LATER in my life, when some damage was already done). Someone tell them please
I think masking would be minimum, they probably try a little bit but give up and decide they donāt care anymore (like I said, itās possible that theyāre older, so give them a break)
On the topic of not being aware of symptoms I headcanon Moon (or at least pre security breach one, maybe, idk) as the kind of autistic to have a hard time realizing heās upsetting or genuinely scaring people. Heās being whimsical, but like, wouldnāt realize unless specifically told so. I donāt believe a potential nicer form of moon would be there to intentionally hurt people (i donāt like the idea of him being evil just BECAUSE) but i think he could still cause all kinds of distress by accident. I certainly donāt think heās shy (and i believe Kellon Goff corrected himself in a later tweet and said Moon wasnāt exactly shy himself but he used a shy part of his life to bring Moon to life, if i remember correctly (correct me if iām wrong bruh i donāt wanna misquote the man himself š)) Canon Moon probably isnāt shy but instead he gets to be fluent in being awkward in a conversation
I mean donāt get me wrong I adore the idea of shy moon but itās most likely not going to be anything we see in canon. But in an au? Or in your own headcanon? Go crazy, make that man shy, be a little self indulgent. Youāre not required to stick to canon to a tee.
I definitely think Sun and Moon would have clashing sensory needs. being opposites but also having a common root in an issue whether they want it to be there or not is like their whole thing. A lot of clashing except maybe the clicking they do. They fidget and click a LOT and the clicks are so pleasant to my brain so i think that could be maybe a similarity. As far as clashing sensory needs I think, yāknow, if they were to be given separate bodies, because I actually really like that idea of seeing how their dynamic plays out that way (lots of fighting, so much fighting)... I DONT CARE IF IT MOST LIKELY WONāT BE A THING IN CANON BECAUSE OF THE DYNAMIC STEEL WOOL IS LEANING INTO SHSHHSHSHSH I CAN DREAM.Ā
Anyways I think Moon would have sensory issues related to lights (duh) and sound (MAYBE sun for sound too, if he has less control of it. Just because heās generally louder doesnāt mean he couldnāt have an issue with unwarranted sound. And if anything, in the daycare I think that would contribute to his burnout MORE.) thought i definitely think Moon would be more reactive to noise and lights considering heās much less used to them (that doesnāt exactly dwindle sunās ability to become overstimulated to a sound because heās used to it, but he might have a much more subtle response to it after a while like the snappy behavior/burnout in hw2. While I imagine Moon for once having a much more obvious response. (kind of like how he reacts to the lights in ruin but probably only half as much)
I think they both reacted to overstimulation through getting snappy, so like in an au where theyāre physically separated and they have clashing sensory needs thatāsā¦ an easy argument starter. Visibly doing some small behavior that screams irritation on Sunās part. And moon probably stares at you, but angrily (you canāt tell because he doesnāt have fucking eyelids)
I think the movements they do in canon are some form of stimming. Like I mentioned before, I think they enjoy the clicking. Moon does the movements with his head and rotating his face a LOT. and i began associating it with stimming a while ago. As for negative stims when stressed and anxious. Their wires are exposed. There may not be evidence for it but maybe thatās something they mess with. Also, no evidence for this but I felt like there damage in ruin was both from the situation and themselves, can be taken as a more self destructive (kind of like how scratching/hair pulling can be considered stimming at times for humans) but most likely accidental form of this. Or more likely a stress habit and causing more damage from fighting for control (idk man I kind of lost myself on this one)
Also!! The staff bot parts in their room, and later in Ruin more parts from endos are present. I think they fidget with parts on occasion. This strays from autism related headcanons but Those parts being there in the first place i think is Moonās doing, and based on his behavior in ruin along with similar cases recorded in security breach i take it as frustration/misguided anger. And eventually because those parts are yk, there after Moon did whatever it is he may have done, i wouldnāt be surprised if the stuff in their room is occasionally fidgeted with as a distraction. The only evidence I really have for this is that in Ruin those items are all sorted. Someone was doing something as a distraction.
Thereās no way they would be flirted with in a roundabout way and immediately understand, you need to be DIRECT AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT!!!
I think Sun might easily misinterpret all kinds of things he's told, and be completely confident with his interpretation, while while recognize when he's a little unclear, decide it's probably not important if someone wasn't being clear, and then forget.
For whatever possible circumstance this would EVER come up I donāt think Moon would enjoy phone calls, nor would Sun but I think he likes yapping so heād probably talk your ear off and then get really sidetracked. Moon would just respond with simple one word answers, or not all (me, i do that, iām projecting) I donāt think Moon is shy in canon but i do headcanon he just, sucks at holding up a conversation (projecting again)
basically canon but hypo verbal Moon and hyper Verbal sun. (this gets a little too personal and realistic and a second) I just want to say that because itās a trait associated with autism and instead of them just being considered too quiet or too loud, they are literally just being themselves. This also goes along with the idea where they wouldnāt realize they have autism, and just think whatever theyāre doing is considered normal for everyone else so hey might recognize people think of them poorly but might not realize what someone has a stick up their ass about until someone is like āermm you talk too much/too little šā actually i definitely think they would get criticized on a daily basis for that. I have my own ideas about how they would react in an immediate situation vs over time after being told over and over again. And basically, I think Moon would kind ofā¦ NOT react at first but it would get to him later on and thatās when he goes completely quiet or makes sure to avoid people. I think Sun would react negatively on the dot (in one way or another) and stew in frustration for a bit, and sometimes it might come back to him on occasion.
A part of me wants to believe moon is capable of yapping but he spaces it out, like I think heād randomly tell you a fact and then go quiet for a while. OR!!! OR!! Heād tell you a joke then wait for you to laugh as he stares at you intensely and silently.
I think Moon would mutter to himself a lot, but so quiet and muddled from an outside perspective it's completely incoherent. Sun too but a little easier to hear. Speak out loud in a quiet voice but still loud enough that still makes people briefly pause wandering if heās speaking to them.
What if they were both heat sensitiveā¦ imagine getting to go outside (if they were part of Fallfest than maybe first time and years) but itās during the summer, and they're both fatigued and miserable. I see a lot of people say sun would absolutely love summer, but considering if he is from Fallfest, and assuming they shut off animatronics when not in use, heād realistically he might not even be used to summer at all. Then in this case it would actually be sort of an ironic situation where he grows to dislike summer heat.
okay ya'll I think it's done for NOW. I have a few I left out because they were half baked, or too vague for what I wanted to say so I may edit or add onto this in the future. a whole load of this ideas are also things I wanted to implement into my AU so!!
UGRHHHH IK I HAVE AUTISM BUT ITS NOT LIKE I EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING MENTIONED HERE SO I HOPE I DIDN'T MESS UP ANYTHING BUT LET ME KNOW!!
#awareness kind of?? I went real in depth for a few of these so this was also a practice for me to work on thinking about different behavior#that they would express realistically#I also like including a lot of the ones that aren't talked about as much because they're seen as āuglierā traits by a lot if it isn't silly#a huge issue I see with autism in media tbh is a lot of the time it isn't shown for what it is#it's either āthe silly disorderā or it's some kind of virus to some people... *cough* autism speaks' āI am autismā ad *COUGH*#we don't like Autism speaks in this house#I didn't go as in depth for a few as I would have liked but hopefully this suffices for now#fnaf#fnaf sb#fnaf hw2#fnaf moon#fnaf sun#sun fnaf#moon fnaf#fnaf daycare attendant#dca fandom#five nights at freddys#fnaf dca#fnaf headcanons#autism#neurodiversity

I know that Iāve touched on the harassment that people are getting for posting theories about Tech being alive, but there is another element that I believe we should discuss: the fact that the harassment is being disproportionately lobbed at autistic fans. Now, Iām not trying to imply that all of the people leaving these nasty comments are sitting around thinking about how much they hate autistic people, but whether they realize it or not, the types of posts that they tend to leave nasty comments on tend to be posts made by people displaying what might be autistic traits. In fact, a lot of posts that have these harassing comments are made by people who make it no secret that they are autistic and sometimes even mention it in their bio.
So what do I mean when I say that a lot of these posts may hint at OP being autistic? For starters, autistic brains tend to latch onto things with a great deal of intensity, and sometimes our brains latch onto specific fictional characters. We know logically that these characters are not real and that there are objectively more important things to worry about, but our brains simply do not care. Focused autistic interests are a source of a lot of comfort and stability for us in a world that is often overwhelming, and they are important to us as a result. A lot of the people dogging the Tech posts seem to take issue with how āobsessedā people are with the character and his survival, which in some cases, is due to OP simply being autistic and having a focused interest.
Another trait that can manifest in autistic people is difficulty with emotional regulation, meaning that even āsmallā things can make us more upset than our peers. The people leaving harassing replies seem to have picked up on the fact that people are ātoo emotionalā over a fictional character and sometimes even make their replies extra graphic (ie. āheās rotting at the bottom of the chasmā, āheās flesh pasteā) in order to get a rise out of the OP. Obviously, not everyone who makes posts like these or has these challenges is autistic, but I believe that my point still stands that going after people with these traits will cause autistic people to be disproportionately targeted, which is an ableist pattern.
Sometimes, however, the harassment feels more intentionally targeted at autistic fans. A lot of Tech fans really value Tech as autistic representation and feel like killing him off in our current popular culture environment where a fair chunk of autistic portrayals are negative is in poor taste. The āTech is dead, get over itā harassers blatantly ignore or ridicule these statements, showing zero empathy to the people who feel seen because of this character. I have seen people bulldoze into posts where autistic fans talk about how much they hope he survives because they see themselves in him with comments like āheās dead, get over it.ā In one instance, I saw an allistic fan tell an autistic fan that Tech was āforced diversityā and that if Disney was going to attempt autistic representation, then the character shouldnāt be āboringā like Tech. I donāt think I really need to explain why this is inappropriate.
Itās fine to disagree with a popular fan theory or debate about it in good faith with someone who is up to it, but what I am seeing goes well beyond that. Harassment is never, ever okay, and you should know better than to leave replies like the ones in these screenshots below when you see a fan theory that you donāt agree with.

Costume Meta 7x03
so there aren't al l that many costumes to talk about this week from a min cast perspective as pretty much everyone is either in uniform, or a costume they've been wearing for the previous two episodes!
I do have a few things to talk about though so I'm still writing this meta and then I'll be gearing myself up for next week when I have a feeling I'll be up to my eyeballs in new costumes!!
Check theory
The danger around Jared played out - he large bold check signalled that he would be in danger - and he met a grim end!
Pink Theory
I feel like I'm spending every episode playing spot the bright pink and this one came to the pink party as well - we have Corey's dad in this pink sweater and then Corey's two siblings in pink.
Its really interesting to me that we're not seeing this bright pink on any of our mains up to this point (Athena has worn pale pink but not bright pink)- its always been on guest cast (Marisol, Lola, Norman, the mom trapped in the car) and there's a fairly even split between the characters who are in one episode and the multi episode arc characters.
I've already pointed this out but the various traits associated with bright magenta/fuchsia pinks are as follows
Things that are considered positive traits for this shade of pink are; intensity, acceptance, kindness and it's supportive and uplifting nature. It's connected to naive love (as in lust rather than the passionate and enduring love of red) can also be considered a nurturing colour.
Negative traits are; intensity, volatility, arrogant and impatient, irritability and irritating and frustration. it is also said to be a stress inducing colour and is said to be overly emotional and childish.
Stripe Theory
Then we have the stripes - Corey (who I'm convinced is autistic but thats maybe just me projecting!!) is in stripes pretty much the entire time.
The only exception is when the family is on Manzanillo - when he is wearing a watery themed shirt - again separating him from most of the rest of the family - who are all in floral prints (older brother is all in white and not the floral Hawaiian prints but he and his sister (I think they're meant to be twins?!) switch between who is wearing the bold print and who is in a white top throughout the episode)
Mom wears stripes as well - before she gets onto the ship - we see her in this striped coat. Dad and the sister also wear stripes and check scarves, showing that the entire family is in peril, but the largest amount of stripes are saved for the ones who will be in the most danger - which makes total sense from a pattern theory perspective.
An amusing aside that had me giggling - this top is shear perfection when paired with the 118 deciding their new moto is who cares!!š
Right off to the firehouse to finish up! - I've mentioned before how uniform variation is used to separate out a character where needed (I wrote about it in my 6x09 meta) so here in the firehouse we have two separations going on - Buck and Eddie are the only ones in t-shirts - separating them from everyone else.
In connection to this separating them from the rest of the firehouse crew is that yellow rag Buck is waving around - it feels a little bit like that red one we saw him with several times in season 6 - the season of red flags.
In the same way t hat red cloth was like a red flag, this reads like a yellow flag - now yellow flags are interesting. In shipping terms they were historically a signal of quarantine (this isn' the case any more), and in sports generally they are used to denote hazardous conditions (motor racing and on beaches relating to surf and currents).
But the more interesting yellow flag concept is the yellow flag in a relationship - generally speaking they are indicators of things that could become problematic and turn into red flags if not dealt with or communicated about (yup communication again). Paired with the fact that Buck and Eddie have been 'singled' out through their uniform, its telling us issues ahead (even if we didn't know about them) and that its their dynamic that is going to be tested and that they are going to need to communicate.
Now all those yellow hoses hanging around in the back ground and then one hose physically connecting them - is certainly a choice (remember they could have used one of the non yellow hoses if it wasn't important) and a pretty loud one. I go on and on about yellow lines of communication, a lot, and I have in my metas for this season so far, but here we have another example of yellow ropes.. lines, cables etc.
The really really key thing here is that we haven't actually seen Buck and Eddie connected by a yellow anything since the end of season 3 and having not seen them connected with a yellow anything since season 3 - when their respective yellow lines got cut/burnt. This one here is about , a yellow line of communication being re-established. What adds to this is the directorial choices - the yellow flag is waves around before they connect themselves with a yellow line (hose) - as a piece of directorial foreshadowing I am in love - its telling us the Buck is the one who is the creator of the yellow flags (read his jealousy) and he is the one with the yellow rag (in the same way he was the one with the red rag previously), but that it will ultimately lead to Buck and Eddie reconnecting after those flags are raised and dealt with. I cannot stress enough the importance of that yellow line between them being reconnected - it really speaks of their communication improving and that we'll see them operating on a level we haven't seen before - they cut their yellow lines at the time when Eddie was changing his will, and whilst they have spoken on important topics etc since then, there has always been something in between them - they haven't had a proper full cards on the table conversation. My feeling is that we might be about to get that (especially combined with what we know from what Oliver and Ryan have teased!)
Then there is Chimney who is separated from everyone else by virtue of being the only one in a long sleeved shirt. If you watch the scene through, and pay attentiion to the background, you'll see all the firefighters in either short sleeve shirts or wearing bomber jackets. there is one exception - a guy carrying a medical bag who I'm pretty sure is meant to be a representaion of Hen's reinstatment to the 118 as he crosses Chim at the time Chim announces Hen has been reinstated!
Thats all from me this week - hope you enjoyed! I'm off to prepare myself for Thursday night!!!

Explaining this because I don't think people are getting it. Ft. One of my favorite mutals. @the--quotifyer--innit
The Master's issue isn't that the Doctor is poly. His issue is that he can not feel second best.
Tw: Mention of toxic jealous behavior, social/ romantic hiarcys, a lot of dog metaphors because its easier for me to explain, someone who's really autistic yapping about fictional old man yaoi, lots of misspelling, Apologies if I seem upset/rude, Im very passionate about the phycology behind social/romantic hiarchys and similar behaviours.
I was asked; Hey what would you think Sax would do if he met tentoo and rose?? With or without 14.
Me: Without 14? Like pre saxteen or just him not there? I think either way he'd beat the fuck out of tentoo. (Because he'd think he's cheating on him at first) He'd try to best up rose too depending on if we were talking s10 sax, pre saxteen, or established saxteen. Hed probably fail, but he'd try.
Yeah, sharing is definitely not his thing
No, definitely not (with Rose). Also, he'd probably lecture her, and then she'd be like "dude LOOK WHOS TALKING" and he'd be like, "WELL- ....āļø š¤Ø.... actually... erm (you got a point)." Especially if we're talking Torchwood Rose? It would also piss him off how many traits she has picked up from the doctor. He'd become so emotionally jealous about it. (That Rose has the Doctor's traits)
Because he's not stupid. He's extremely smart. If this is pre/ established, the Doctor talks about her all the time. Even now. Little things. "Oh, there's this little shop down the road that Rose worked at. They have some sales sometimes. " He would SEE how much he actually loved her and feel extremely defeated, which would probably turn to rage and try to kill her. Then have a mental breakdown and sob by himself.
Probs blackmail her Bout how long he's know the doctor compared to a pathetic human girl. Rose would not be impressed.
You can't really use that as black mail but brag? Yes. (He'd definitely brag about knowing him much longer)
I could write a whole thing about this (and I did), but bassically, the fact that she's just a human girl is PART of the reason he'd get so upset. He's a fucking TIME LORD with MORE credibility then the doctor and one of the top loves of his eternity he's ever had is some 20 year old blonde girl????
Because with the master (and all of Gallifrey in general) Reputation and status means a lot. So the fact that the doctor chose her (someone who has zero of both) over him (someone who has a lot of both) it would mean that he likes her PURELY for love and this? That crushes him entirely.
Donna: The doctor is currently locked in the shed writing ' I love you, I promise' notes on the window.
If this ever happened, they'd probably get a divorce on the spot because the doctor CAN'T deny that he loves her still. And will. Forever. Saxon would kill him again and not even want to regenerate. He is a "You said til death do us part, and I said until all of time collapsees. We are not the same" kind of guy. He'd kill them both and be sure they fall in the same grave. It's very poetic. (In a way)
See he's okay with River because her physical body is dead as fuck. She can never leave that computer. So this automically puts sax on top of the metaphotic food chain in his head.
Because the doctor comes to him and asks if he can visit his wife and then comes back home to him. That's what matters. Meanwhile, the doctor would go to a different universe to go home to Rose. (If given the chance) And he knows it.
It's like having a dog tolerate/dominant dog. I'll use Minpins because I own one. Minpins have a pack status, and the top one has to be seen as the top by the owner, mainly rather than the other dogs. So if the doctor has multiple lovers (like always), sax has to feel he's on top and receives the most attention. If the doctor starts ignoring or punishing him for "defending" his spot as the top, he'll actually get MORE aggressive towards the others.
He has to be the one at the top of the list, the most special to the doctor, just for his own weird lil reasons
No, it's not really his own weird little reason. It's social psychology.
The thing is, he doesn't *actually* have to be the most special to the doctor, but he NEEDS to think he is. For me personally, and what I know, I like to think that Rose and The master are actually pretty equal, he just says stuff about her *because* he can't do stuff with her anymore which is just the process of longing.
I know I keep coming back to the dog metaphors, but im autistic like that, so give me a chance.
It's like for me, i had a dog named bailey. I love bailey even now, and often I compare my current dog fern to bailey. Its part of the healing process because im comparing them less and less. Especially with the fact that they're VERY different breeds. Bailey was a live stock guardian, an anatolian shepherd, to be exact. 90 pounds. Hairy. Fern is an 8 pound chihuahua miniature pinscher mix. Short hair.
Both are protective of the kids, both bark at men, both are silly and cuddly, and I love them both a lot. But its unfair to compare them because they are so different.
Though there's nothing wrong with liking the similars.
It's unfair for the master and rose to be compared. That's how the doctor thinks about it. The master is his top time lord on his list. Rose is his top human.
In my head anyway.
I'll probably add to this later, but for now, feel free to add on yourself

Hi. Ex-radqueer again. Sorry if I keep bothering you. Iām struggling understanding why transautistic and similar terms are wrong.
Iām autistic. Iāve been diagnosed since age 5. Iām very visibly autistic in interactions with me, and as a result I have been ostracized my entire life. I have no friends, currently. I have only ever been asked out as a prank. I have never seen anyone āadmireā my autism or see it as something to emulate. Until transautistics.
Radqueers told me that I should see transautistic people as a compliment. The idea that they wanted to be me. That they wanted to develop the traits that have haunted me my whole life. Without transautistics, I really am undesirable in all the world. My autistic traits are unwanted things.
Iām kind of struggling right now.
Hi again! You're not bothering me at all, don't worry!
Like you, I was suspected to be autistic since I was very young, though I didn't receive an actual diagnosis until much later at 17. While I accepted it I found it hard to think of in a positive light due to internalized ableism from my own experiences. More exposure to autistic people on the internet talking about it with pride was what helped me think of it differently.
Have you heard of the site Embrace Autism? It's full of resources for autistic and other neurodivergent people compiled by professionals who are neurodivergent themselves! It's an absolutely amazing read not only for autistic people but for those who suspect they might have autism and allies looking to support the community.
With that out of the way, I'll talk about the transautistic label a little bit. Wanting to be autistic is not a bad thing. It's more of a neutral one. Whether or not transautistic people are ableist depends on how they choose to deal with their feelings.
If a transautistic person is autistic, and uses the label to describe how they want to unmask more and become more comfortable presenting as autistic around people, then that's great! They'll be fully accepted into the autistic community.
If a transautistic person feels like they are autistic, but don't know for sure if they meet its diagnostic criteria, they should do more research into the different ways autism can present and whether or not that applies to them. Informed self diagnosis is incredibly valid.
If a transautistic person is allistic, wants to have autism and doesn't intend to do anything about this besides simply researching what autism is like and supporting autistic people, then that's fine. I understand atypical dysphoria exists.
If a transautistic person is allistic, and wants to fake autism, that's... not okay. They more often than not will know about autistic stereotypes rather than symptoms. The consequences of their faking will be negative not only to themselves, but also to everyone around them's perception of autism.
If a transautistic person wants to 'transition to having autism' they need to be told they cannot do this. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests as a difference in brain structure from birth. It is impossible for an allistic person to become autistic or vice versa. Attempts to do so only traumatize the individual in question. Suggesting anything to the contrary is extremely ableist.
Some radqueers claim that all transautistics belong in autistic spaces, which is just kind of inherently not true. Autistic people belong in autistic spaces. Transautistic autistics are accepted, and transautistic allistics are expected to be respectful of a group they don't belong to.
All in all, there is pride to be found in being autistic! You aren't undesirable or unwanted for having that disorder. Many autistic people live happy and fulfilling lives. Using the transautistic label to express autistic pride is completely fine with me, and what I truly take issue with is allistic people using it as an excuse for ableism.
(Edit: Some mentions of the word āneurotypicalā Iāve corrected to āallisticā.)

Is Rafal an Allegory for Autism and Is He Autistic Himself?
DISCLAIMER: This is just one niche interpretation of the text that points to his being autistic, even if it were not intentionally written into the narrative. I am in no way claiming this interpretation is factual or that it is an absolute or ācorrectā reading of the text.
Therefore, feel free to disagree with me or add onto this! I will not be offended by opposing viewpoints at all, and it could be fair to say Iām just pathologizing him, if thatās the case, which may be true. Iād also love to hear other takes if anyone agrees with me, or suspects another form of neurodivergence, seeing as comorbidities are possible and one condition doesnāt rule out the existence of another as symptoms alone could themselves be attributed to other causes.
@hyperfixating-chic Thank you for bringing up the idea of Rafal having autism since I had previously suspected it due to some of his (potentially negligible) traits, and discarded the idea. Now, I see it as plausible and your thought about masking definitely helped everything else slot into place!
Currently, I'm straddling the line between:
Is Rafal an unintentional allegory for autism, or beyond that, does he have enough traits for him to actually be autistic?
With him, any traces of autism seem to present themselves in such minor ways that I might just be cherry-picking evidence to fit this particular image of him. Though, his autism could just be higher-functioning anyway. And, while he does have seemingly autistic traits, there could be other, equally plausible reasons for their existence apart from neurodivergence, such as his idiosyncratic personality. And, because he is fictional, we canāt truly be sure.
One side note: The word āautismā could be translated as āselfism,ā as the prefix āauto-ā means āself,ā or it could allude to self-absorption. Yet, not all autistics are selfish and some may only appear āselfishā to others. However, this interpretation of the word happens to work in favor of Rafalās autism existing, as he is selfish (and does possess a somewhat graceless mode of socializing).
āø»
Evidence for his character being an allegory:
He's central to the order of the world he lives in, to the Schools running, continuing on, to pure utility, but does he have any social value beyond that?
Quick digression: I'm almost tempted to say that the worst thing someone whose opinion Rafal actually cares about could say to him is: āYou're useless/purposeless." (And that is what I have him think about, or say at times, to Rhian, but if it were directed toward him, I feel like it would be something he couldn't brush off easily.)
Looking at his āvalueā and other traits:
He has virtually no relationships and thus, has little social currency apart from his School Master status.
He is viewed as an outsider in a sense by society (partly because of how far above everyone else he stations himself). But, if he didnāt do that as well as threaten punishment so frequently, would he be ridiculed behind closed doors? Even though he was admitted to the Black Rabbit, it was (probably?) because he was respected and feared, not because he was āwelcomeā in an amicable way, even if he was treated well. How do we know he wasnāt merely tolerated because he had to be, according to social conventions or mandated politeness driven by fear? Albeit, some Nevers probably did actually idolize him.
I believe there was even an assumption by others that he had a purpose for being at the nightclub, that he was there strictly for business, to scout out prospective students, not necessarily because he was there to join the festivities. Though, I may be misremembering.
He is irreverent and a ākilljoyā to some, often upsets the status quo on large (leaving the School) and small (the trainwreck at the Snow Ball) scales, and often questions things usually accepted by most. He also doesnāt respect any authority apart from his own. This again is due to his Evil, in-narrative, as Evers are commonly depicted as rule-followers and traditionalists. (Neurotypicals, those who arenāt neurodivergent, generally do not question implicit social rules, even when there is no reason to keep to them or no reason for their existence.)
Rafal might only have been valued for his tangible, quantifiable contributions to society, as both a Never of prodigious talents and as an individual with a high-standing.
That begs the question: what about him as a person?
He is broadly viewed as unlikable.
To play into allegory, he is dehumanized, not necessarily for potential autism, but for his Evil, if it could be seen as a symbol of his autism.
At the start, Rhian, in originally wanting to eradicate Evil from the Woods and reform every soul, inadvertently demonizes him. And so do his students, when they sentence him to prison.
Sometimes, in-world, the Pen dehumanizes him (as well as Rhian) for his position as School Master. It reduces him to his role, strips him of individuality and selfhood because he is one of an indivisible pair, and it views him as replaceable, which, again, relates heavily to utility above all else, in how his sole purpose for being there and having his life preserved is pushing the tales and future forward.
So, while yes, he is respected and valued and held up as an exemplar for what Evil should be, how deeply does othersā approval run? Was anyone in-world willing to vouch for him or defend him as a person, for personal traits, apart from his skills and achievements?
(Iām not trying to suggest this in poor taste, but a real-world example of this phenomenon happening historically is the moral quandary of saving Einstein, who might've been neurodivergent. Einsteinās singular life as a Jew was prioritized over other lives, a plurality, during the Holocaust because he was a genius and therefore, a person of value. And, to generalize, sometimes groups only claim unlikable or "inferior" individuals as one of their own because they can benefit and get ahead from doing so. For instance, a Nazi could rationalize something absurd and say: "Oh, that Jew. He's a personal friend of mine. He's an exception, not like all those others. He's a good guy, and so, I'll help him escape Germany." Any āloyaltyā from a member of the in-group is conditional. The moment that person of value crosses a line or becomes useless, itās āabandon ship!ā Or worse, denial: "They were never that great in the first place!")
Initially, to Rafal's students, he was a Folk devil, or their chosen scapegoat, even if their accusations against him proved pretty valid later on with the torture. (So, admittedly, he is deserving of a lot the narrative did to him, and canāt be defended completely.)
In fact, both Rafalās own students and Vulcan (importantly designated as Rafalās competition) seemed perfectly happy to see him fall. Thus, we can ask: did he suffer from a case of Tall Poppy Syndrome?
For reference, hereās a definition of the term Iāve pulled from the internet:
āTall Poppy Syndrome occurs when individuals are attacked, resented, criticized, or cut down due to their achievements and success. The metaphorical ātall poppyā represents someone who stands out from the crowd, excels, and reaches new heights.ā
Maybe, he was only ever valued, not for who he was, but for what he could bring into the world.
Even if anyone post-Fall suspected that Rhian was the āRafalā they saw, maybe they truly didnāt care. They still had a āhimā in a sense that must have seemed just as good and serviceable as the originalāif, again, they only valued him for the sake of utility.* It probably didnāt matter because no one was suffering from a lack of Evil School Master (yes, just the title, not the name) and likely no one realized they were suffering from a lack of Rafal (and balance). Him as a person probably meant nothing in their eyes, considering how he used and abused them.
So, here we have a figure, who was never that personable to begin with, who only succeeded in further alienating himself from potential allies and friends as stakes rose, who excelled in other areas rather than socially.
Could he have used his sorcery and other preternatural, prodigy-like abilities (considering his mental/physical age, if not his chronological age) to compensate for his ever-present social deficit? Possibly.
*Thus, we might be able to confirm he was always viewed, not for who he was, but for what he could do.
His death was caused by the failure to say the right, emotionally-weighted words in an emotionally-charged situation.
āø»
Evidence for being autistic himself:
His default mode of speaking appears to be deadpan with little intonation and his emotional expression is overall low. Heās also rather impassive and placid compared to other characters as long as he remains in control and isnāt taken by surprise. Thus, I suspected he could have a flat affect (or blunted affect), unless he is deliberately seducing or appealing to another character he intends to manipulate to his own ends.
He has irreverence for existing traditions or established ways of doing things, given how he changed the date of the Snow Ball without warning, without consulting anyone, and with little concern for others because he saw his decision as fit to serve himself.
He seems to have a case of one-track-mind or monotropism when it comes to saving Rhian or attaining power for himself at any cost. His narrowed, obsessive focus tends to center on either Rhian, vengeance, the balance, or gaining control over his immediate surroundings whenever he is incapacitated; he has a need for order and control in everything he approaches. He also has a strong internal sense of justice, however perversely-aligned his may be.
He doesnāt distribute his attention widely, and (once) seemed to love his brother deeply and narrowly. He had no friends outside of Rhian, his twin, which couldāve been a given since the start. He had difficulty maintaining all of his relationships (or situationships) and had a marked lack of interest in forming relationships or friendships with others outside of Rhian because he often cut ties with people like Hook or Midas when he no longer had a practical use for them.
One of the greatest āsinsā to some autistic people is lying, and it occurred to me that, a few times over, Rafal never lied. (This statement excludes the few exceptions of his Fala disguise, a thought not completely of his own volition which the Storian may have planted in his mind or implicitly suggested with its illustrations, and his general practice of withholding information.) He just weaponizes shades of the truth, unlike Rhian who did outright lie at times. Rafal instead misled, passively allowing people to believe what they wanted to believe about his moral character (oftentimes in the āfactā that he was trustworthy) without truly affirming their views of him or correcting them, as long as doing so continually worked to his advantage. He let them fall into their own delusions, and used lies of omission, which arenāt technically lies.
Although he is often driven by his selfish, insular nature, like towards the singular pursuit of power and becoming the One in Fall, I also suspected that he's often mind-blind in regards to others, sometimes willfully, if itās not āerrorsā in how he processes the world. I would guess that he might experience difficulty in understanding and empathizing with others' perspectives, meaning he has trouble with āTheory of Mind.ā As evidence, he uses the āwrongā wording when he attempted to placate Rhian at the climax of Fall before the fratricide scene since heās not used to consoling or providing others with emotional reassurance or comfort. In addition, he seemed unable or unwilling to sympathize with Rhianās perceived loss to him when he momentarily appeared to hold the Storianās favor.
Rafal also strikes me as the type of person to devalue a form of emotional, Ever-like ādataā he cannot read. If he does (or ever formerly did) suffer from mind-blindness, I have a theory that, possibly, because he could have begun with the inability to comprehend others' mental states, he found an alternate way to operate in and successfully navigate his world with, to thrive in it, consciously comporting himself as Evil, due to the easy potential overlap in autistic behaviors and being a conventional Never, in a way that was insensitive and cold enough to allow for any kind of social faux pas he could have made to be viewed as intentional on his part, assuming he spent most of his time around others masking his autism (covering up and compensating for deficits so as to be perceived as ānormalā) even if such a label probably wouldnāt exist in the Woods. He also seems to dislike or barely tolerate any kind of flagrant sentimentality.
If the above point were true, then he would probably not only lack affective, visible empathy he could feel, imitate, and display through his facial expressions and body language, but also cognitive empathy. And this could be potentially because it would be convenient to him, to disregard and not take into account data that is ostensibly āmeaninglessā to him. Besides, I think there is a chance heās taught himself to be persuasive or seductive when he wants to or āhasā to be, in order to appeal to his victims. The other general possibility I had in mind was that Rafal could have learned to read people until it became second nature to him, with how he used suggestive manipulation on Aladdin to get the thief to steal back the lamp, proving Rafal consciously knew how predictable and pliable human nature could be.
In total, from what I can tell, he is able to manipulate others exceptionally well and lead them on, and yet, when it comes to actually relating to anyone, he seems to have difficulty understanding their points of view if he doesn't just flat-out disregard them in favor of his always being "right," which brings me to his tenacity, how he seems set in his ways, and leans towards extremes. Rafal seems like an all-or-nothing person, and either commits all the way to a cause, even bringing life-or-death ruminations into his internal monologue, or is apathetic and doesn't care at all.
Perhaps, Rafal suffers from sustained emotional dysregulation during certain plot points. He clearly has an inability to ālet things go,ā as is common with autism because when he was more than slighted by his mutinous students sending him to Monrovia Prison, his temper flared and he went to an extreme of methodically torturing every last child. And afterward, he continued to hold onto a grudge against that one particular class, until he was in closer contact with them, and gradually began to see himself and how heād conducted himself as School Master from their perspective, literally in the shoes of the Never student Fala he fabricated.
He often has sharp lines of dialogue and witticisms the reader sees as comedic when his intention probably wasnāt to be, thereby meaning he could be unaware of precisely how he comes across to others, as hyperbolic as he is.
His quick wit and resourcefulness led me to think that he is at least partly a verbal thinker, evinced by the Vulcan shanty he composed and some of his scathing one-liners. Plus, he does muse philosophically on occasion in his narration, about matters like the nature of Evil, villainous purpose, and its role in the Woods, or how villains usually work alone while pirates, as a breed, are known to be more communal.
He also twists othersā words at times, uses the āExact Phrasingā fairy-tale convention, and exploits loopholes oftentimes. Iām pretty sure he sees language as up to interpretation? E.g., he offers to pay a Man-Wolf his "weight in gold" and then, turns the Man-Wolf into gold to make an example of him, weaponizing literal meaning. Overall, as a reader, I feel as if I must watch out for the true meaning of his dialogue.
His reclusiveness, contrasted with Rhianās desire for romantic love and companionship, and his general social withdrawal are quite prominent, and those asocial, isolative (or more destructively, āantisocialā) tendencies could, as well as being a preference, function as a coping mechanism. Perhaps, he feels better and overall more regulated whilst alone than in the company of other people, who neither give him peace of mind nor obey him, especially those whose every action he cannot control? And maybe, he needs room to breathe and think, and left the School at the start of Rise to shut out the offending emotional stimulus of Rhianās words, about how all Evil-doers could be reformed to Good and that Evil lacked purpose. If he was emotionally affected by the brothersā argument, the Aladdin bet, and the chaotic events of the Snow Ball, maybe he just had to sever himself from it all and leave it behind?
He might have Sensory Processing Disorder, which often accompanies autism. Iām not an expert, but from what I could see, there are hints of Rafal having an aversion to light, such as when, in his internal monologue, he remarks on Rhian's glass castle. Additionally, when he intentionally renovated his School, it was dark and dimly lit.
In the ice classroom, he sat at his desk for days on end, entranced by the mirror he enchanted to view the Doom Room with, like he was watching television, like it was some form of a singular obsession, and he did all that presumably without feeling any bodily discomfort. Thus, it occurred to me that, while this instance could be attributed to his invulnerability/immortality, he might just have trouble with interoception or internal bodily sensation. He rarely seems to sense or acknowledge dehydration, exhaustion, or hunger, and seems ascetic while Rhian is slightly more dependent on creature comforts.
One last qualifying trait could be Rafalās lack of sensitivity to (external) pain as seen when the Storian slashes his palm open for the oath.
As far as the previous two points go, Iāve been questioning whether his potential difficulty with interoception could coexist at once with the artificially-induced traits of his Storian-bestowed invulnerability that later fades over the course of Fall, rendering him mortal, or conditioning over his lifetime as an Evil-doer, as Evil thematically seems to undergo more pain than Good does throughout the series. Even while vulnerable and mortal in Fall, he manages to walk on his limp, and contends fairly well with his broken leg, despite the pain.
If his invulnerability or his Never status does indeed coexist with his possible interoceptive difficulties, it could mask the deficit of sensation, instead being construed as simple invulnerability or the āmettleā of a tough, stoic, Never soul, as Rhian, who possesses the same invulnerability, reacted more towards the same source of physical pain than Rafal did.
āø»
Counterarguments:
Despite all these signs, anyone could have all or most of these traits in isolation, which still may not add up to a complete diagnosis. Basically, this is not only a matter of totalling up traits. We donāt really know how his brain functions as he is fictional and I would bet that if he were real, he couldnāt be arsed to answer interview questions.
I donāt believe he was intended to be autistic, given the fantasy genre of the series and its vaguely historical time frame, even if all this could form a viable headcanon.
We can't entirely be sure that he has a social deficit, or if his manner and apparent ādeficitā are displayed by choice or out of practicality.
The most generous (non-deficient) interpretation we can hand him is that heās simply out of practice. After all, he almost never associates with social equals, aside from Rhian, whom he doesnāt view as an equal.
āø»
In response to my one of my counterarguments:
Then again, neither was Sherlock Holmes intentionally written as autistic since the diagnosis didnāt exist during the Victorian era and hadn't come about until later in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's lifetimeāalthough many people today conclude that Holmes is indeed autistic and use modern terms to describe him because Doyle based him off of an āeccentricā academic acquaintance, the medical professor Dr. Joseph Bell, who might have been autistic.
In conclusion, I could just be a bit delusional, and this speculation could be far-fetched. Do you think Iām reading too much into whatever may have been intended for Rafalās character? Could Rafal be autistic, or if not, could his characterization indicate some other type of neurodivergence?

Why I hc Shadow as autistic:
Just gonna preface this before I begin, this is all for fun and is a headcanon of mine. Your headcanons may be different to mine and that's valid too! Any grammar mistakes uh- ignore because I'm too lazy to edit this like crazy.
I will also link the video I made of all the moments, too, since it is way too long to post it on here. Keep in mind that not every moment is in the video, but like 95 percent of it is.
Shadow for me has always shown plenty of signs of being autistic, I'll provide as much evidence as I possibly can while doing my best to try and keep this at a reasonable length.
Shadow has always been the silent type of character when he is written correctly or, in other words, whenever Shiro Maekawa was involved with his writing in SA2, heroes and 06. Currently Prime too has done his character justice. I have to state this because I feel this is the best possible way of actually understanding Shadow as a character, so I'll mainly be touching his good characterizations and then some from his own game (not a lot however). He was silent, lonely, calm and often was in his head more than outwardly speaking out. I believe many autistic people like myself, connected to this side of him. Facing with so many adversities because of our differences from others, we become shut in and lonely too, since most autistic people don't feel as if they fit in. You can easily argue this is because of his ptsd from losing Maria, but I'd like to challenge the idea that it can easily be both and his ptsd enhances his traits.
I'll first begin with SA2, Shadow's first scene with eggman to me is quite hilarious if you put a different lens on it, the way he stand there ignoring Eggmans questions and then quickly demands Eggman to abide his rules. It puts Eggman into shock, but I think you could tie these moments that Shadow has as an autistic trait of his. Social cues are quite difficult for a lot of autistic people, and having no filter adds into this difficulty. The way Shadow ignores Eggmans questions to quickly ask him to do what he wants instead really emphasizes this point I made.
I love how he remains calm too, he doesn't yell this at Eggman and instead walks away casually and confidently. It's always been one of my most favourite moments with him. It really does make him stand out as he was able to influence Eggman to follow his wishes. If we want to talk about when he gets introduced to Sonic, I find this moment also again pretty funny in an endearing way when you put in this perspective. Sonic running to him asking Shadow to say something to speak, as Shadow stares at Sonic with silence. He's once again in his head more so than externally present, he also may be struggling to craft up a response or is at a lost with why Sonic is desperate for an answer. Conversations or socially interacting with people is challenging for most autistic people for a plethora of reasons so anything can really explain why Shadow here wasn't responding.
I've also found some of his moments when thinking of Maria (two specific moments being when Amy encourages him to help fight and the other being before Rouge approaches him to ask why he saved her), these moments he's very in tuned with his thoughts. After realizing his true promise with Maria he is in his head not responding right away to Amy, he sheds a tear and runs quickly to help and exclaims how he has to go now to keep that promise. This confuses Amy, however she doesn't stop Shadow or anything. When Rouge approaches Shadow and saying it was unexpected and unlike him to save her, he answers by saying that he didn't go to save her and was doing it for the chaos emeralds. She clearly catches on that this isn't the entire truth, this moment to me is harder to explain. But I think it's because of how he struggles to express his true intentions and feelings in the matter, similar to the Amy one before because he doesnt understand his own empathy.
Now one of if not the most obvious moments in SA2 is when Amy mistakes Shadow for Sonic, he slowly turns to look at her. Doesn't say a word or anything the entire time, and just continues to stare at her. I always loved this moment. I feel this one just speaks for itself lmao.
Now moving onto Sonic 06 moments (sorry there's not a lot in heroes tbh. There is a lot in Sonic X/Prime, Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Twitter takeovers though!) Sonic 06 main one points out how he is going to discover himself and make his own path. I've always loved this about him as a character, he's not there for anybody but himself, he knows he is different. He will embrace this about himself and not let others try to make up what he has to be. Other subtle traits in 06 are also ways in which he responds to those around him, head nods or simple "yes" responses. Again, it's his way of expressing himself in conversation that really hints at his struggles for social cues. I also adore when Rouge asks him a question and he once again demands for something, and she is like "ok cool, but you didn't answer my question?" Moments like that not only add a lot of charm to him, but something I really connected too because I do this all the time without realizing it. I think partially it's because I get stuck with my own thoughts and those questions I feel I've already got it answered for myself so it's prolly similar where that realization that you may know the answer already, but the other doesn't just doesn't click together sometimes. It could also be because he needs to get out what he needs right away to feel a sense of stability.
Sonic x just has a lot of funny moments that really make his character shine, when he crashes the plane with Espio, Vector and Charmy. He doesn't use his words and instead guides it down forcefully, I similarly do stuff like this where I struggle to express what I need or have to do so I usually just do it without saying it. This happens often when people are in the way of something I have to get to. Like if I have to throw out something for example. I also love that when Espio asks why Shadow didn't just ask, Shadow responds by saying he needs to go find Dark Oak and then just crashes straight into the wall. He really just has such a difficult time expressing exactly why he needs to do things lmao. I also love how he has a challenging time understanding instructions. Eggman asks him to do something and because to Shadow they didn't feel clear, he asks more than once for confirmation. Or when he gives the silent treatment to Rouge and she teases him about it, he just walks away without a word. Now this isn't only applied to Sonic X but Shadow has a really REALLY REAAAALLLY difficult time finding the true intentions of people, Sonic X he gets upset at Rouge and Chris for calling him out on trusting Eggman. He gets defensive and argues back at them saying that Eggman is worthy of trusting because he knows the most about him. It's all he has even though Eggman has been evidenced of tricking others around him. There's countless of other times where Shadow struggles with this, like basically every moment in his own game where he blindly trusts Black Doom. One other moment too I can't exactly remember which game it was, but Rouge was clearly lying and goes "you can trust me! really!!" And he does and then tells her absolutely everything that she wanted to hear.
Sonic prime moments are a lot less, but I do feel his way of just remaining very inwardly or to himself about things can once again be his difficulty in trusting. The way he also overanalyzes a lot of things around him as well. I also just love certain scenes like, "they're air shoes" or "hardly, I'm the ultimate lifeform" because he is blunt and took it quite literally. As he usually does in Prime, where he takes things quite seriously in general. I also feel because sonic is very VERY adhd coded in prime, it really does emphasize the contrast between the two of how someone with autism may interact with someone with adhd. In the most recent episode, he once again finds it difficult to express his protectiveness and plays it off. Or when he does compliment Sonic, he just glares at him when Sonic somewhat jokes around because it felt out of character for Shadow to do that. Even though Shadow was just being blunt about his thoughts and had a moment where he does express properly, but then his glare somewhat shows once again how he has a difficult time crafting up responses lmao.
Some more stuff but more miscellaneous, the Twitter takeovers is funny but it depends on if we want to take it as canon. He loves dry foods, adores kittens to the point he wants an orphanage (connection to animals on a deeper level), he has an organized bedtime routine, and yeah that's basically all the ones I can think of atm. These are quite explanatory I feel. Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog shows he has empathy but struggles to show it similar to basically every other moment I've described, but also just love that he can't handle computers I think that's so funny idk why. I can't even describe how it's an autistic moment for him it just feels like it. He stims with his quills a lot as well, which ugh I adore so so so much.
A lot of these things I've expressed about Shadow come from just from me loving him but also being able to see myself in him as well. I'm happy that Prime is bringing back his character to what it was, I think so many people love Shadow in the fandom simply because of how much they relate to him. He's such great representation despite it not being canon, because of how easily those can see themselves in him. I really do love Shadow and I know this is super long so if you read this, thank you and I hope you enjoyed it.
Have a cute photo of him as a reward ā”

We don't need Yugi's flashback because their story has been told for a long time. (an analysis) Part 3.
4. Aoi and Akane, continue.
Aoi is very similar to Hanako in her secretive, insecure and stubborn character. She is a cheerful introvert, it is difficult for her to reveal her secrets and vulnerabilities to others, she is inclined to solve problems by "giving up everything, all or nothing". Akane is open, straightforward, confident and goal-oriented, even if he has to work hard, he is not afraid of it.
Although I compare Aoi with Hanako here, and Akane with Tsukasa, there is a moment where they switch roles. When Akane strangles Aoi and says that he hates her.
After all, it is her fault that everything turned out this way, and since he is her close person, he has the right to say such things to her. This is just pointing out flaws, right? "I've known you since childhood." In this situation, it is as if Aoi is to blame.
Now let's return to the first parallel. "Do you love me at least a little? Are you sure you love me?"
You have to really drag words of love out of these two (Aoi and Amane), because you're not sure about it because of their behavior, huh. (Hello, Nene on the far shore.)
So, how does this relate to Yugi?
The twins were very close, but that's obvious. Amane was a shy boy, and Tsukasa was easier to get along with people, and Amane remained in his shadow.
They lived an ordinary life until that fateful day - Tsukasa sacrifices himself for Amane. He makes a contract with a supernatural in exchange for the life of a loved one, and becomes half supernatural himself.
Tsukasa is also very traumatized by what happened. He is fixated on Amane and wants to know more about his brother for the aforementioned reason.
The boy who returned to Amane was a slightly different person. He acted differently, and distance began to form between them, tension in the family grew (especially considering the behavior of his mother) and at one point Amane was brought to a state in which he believed that a good solution to the problems would be to kill his brother and himself.
Amane also says how he hates Tsukasa, and that it was as if he was guilty. "If you weren't a fake, everything would be different," as if Tsukasa was to blame for the current situation. (Compare with "if you hadn't closed yourself off and lied, everything would have been different, it's your fault that we're breaking up, Aoi." Akane, on the other hand, was not to blame for anything, although he was the one who scared Aoi with his behavior and he's the one strangling her now. Amane killed Tsukasa, but Tsukasa was also the one to blame, yeah.)
It's worth noting the differences between Yugi's story and others.
1. Kou and Mitsuba. There's a difference in who Mitsuba is and who Tsukasa is, and why one is more "real" than the other. I'll leave a link to my analysis of the nature of these two.
2. Hakubo and Sumire. Hakubo eventually realizes that he didn't appreciate Sumire, while Amane is far from it. Also, Hakubo is an autistic demon, while Amane is much more human by birth, even if he also shows autistic traits, it is in his nature to cope with it better. But in the end, he behaves much better than a horned demon with low empathy, although he talks a lot about feelings and guilt, that is, Amane understands this concept, but in a purely human cruelty continues to push Tsukasa away from himself.
3. Aoi and Akane. There is a certain difference in the behavior of Akane and Tsukasa. Tsukasa is much more independent from Amane personally, although he builds his goals on him (!). He is able to act separately and show interest in other people and things, and not all of his motivation is built entirely on Amane, he has purely personal motives, which Akane never had, concentrating only on Aoi. Also, words of hatred are thrown here by Akane and Amane, and not Aoi and Tsukasa, although these two probably have something to complain about in the behavior of a loved one, they continue to tolerate it, and even if they speak out, then much more gently, not throwing around the words "I hate" so easily in relation to someone who is dear to them.
Thus, if we collect into one whole everything that goes under the line "what does Yugi have to do with it", then we will get their integral story, in which there are almost no unknown moments, only Amane's motivation for murder is not yet entirely clear, but only because we do not know it, and I am sure that when they show it to us, it will definitely parallel with something already written, because Yugi's story runs like a red thread through the entire manga and is reflected in all secondary conflicts.

Hey, so I just watched the third Fantastic Beasts movie and I was wondering if you noticed any autistic traits of Newt's in that one? I remember spotting so many in the first two, so I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't able to find anything new this time. (Honestly, it felt like there wasn't much character exploration at all with Newt, except maybe at the very end?)
Hi, beanwood! Thanks for the ask. Itās interesting you noticed this! Because I will admit that I noticed less of Newtās autistic qualities in the 3rd film myself (though I did notice some!). I think there are a number of reasons for this decrease ā in fact, it is something @afrenchaugurey and I have discussed quite a few times actually! Iāll go into that later. First Iāll share what I did notice (from memory), when viewing Newt through an autistic lens as an autistic & neurodivergent person watching Secrets of Dumbledore (SOD/FB3).
(Iād like to apologise in advance for some language that might not be fully autistic-affirming moving forward. While I am autistic myself, I am also a researcher in fields that have traditionally pathologised autistic traits, and my language unintentionally reflects my training on occasion. Unfortunately, I currently do not have the spoons to go through and ensure that everything sounds appropriate. I therefore appreciate your understanding and patience.)
Anyway, while I agree with you that there are less autistic traits than in previous films, below are some arguably autistic traits or co-occurring indicators (based on my own experience and knowledge of clinical & empirical research) that I noticed! (Though these are not exactly new, which is what you may have been hoping for.)
Newt does stim quite a bit in the SOD/FB3, though it is subtle, mostly relegated to his coat pockets and consistent but very slight rocking/fidgeting/re-adjusting. You can see a rather crappy TikTok video (as I wasnāt doing edits on my computer yet) I made a few years ago (on an acct that is no longer active) highlighting Newtās exceptionally subtle stimming in the first hour of FB3 here.
Newt continues to avoid eye contact during both one-on-one interactions and when addressing groups.
Newt does not always seem to notice subtle emotional nuances or jokes in group settings.
Newt seems, reasonably, attached to his case when Bunty takes it from him, even wordlessly asking Dumbeldore about it with a hand motion at one point. This could be interpreted as his case being a fixture of routine or comfort, common in autistic folks.
Newtās flat affect, in this film, seems to be somewhat of a a boon to interacting with high-profile officials, as he seems somewhat unbothered by the high stakes of the situations and the potential social & political risks of simply walking up to ā say ā Herr Vogel, for example.
Additionally ā regarding special interest ā his hyperfocus on his creatures while talking with Theseusā jailer in the Erkstag seems out-of-step with what one might expect from someone about to walk into a pseudo-authoritarian prison setting.
When Newt finds Theseus in the Erkstag, he answers Theseusā questions about the creature situation by somewhat info-dumping about a laboratory experiment heād conducted on creature behaviour to explain his reasoning. He seems not to entirely notice that that response probably wasnāt that reassuring to Theseus at all.
Newt does not reciprocate social interactions on several occasions ā he misses his brother Theseusā social cues in the first big group scene; he does not verbally reply to several characters in the films (such as Herr Vogelās assistant), even when such reciprocal communication (or even basic serve & return) might be expected.
Newt does seem to lose some access to speech under extreme pressure during his back-and-forth with grindelwald about the Qilin twins. (This is reflected more in Redmayneās performance than the script, IIRC.) While this is typical for many people, it harkens to newtās earlier characterisations.
Newt utterly misses the loaded communication from Bunty while he has his case open toward the end of the film in Bhutan (when Tinaās picture is visible). Then, Bunty says something in response to Newt saying you donāt know what you have until itās gone (referring to his case), which was apparently in reference to her own crush on Newt (now that Newt is pretty obviously with Tina). Newt did not seem to clock this comment as anything at all. (ā¦..and, frankly, neither did I. I had to ask my wife to explicitly explain the scene to me after my 4th or so rewatch. I remain clueless and it is lucky I am married, given my utter inability to read romantic nuance.)
So yeah, I agree with you that the last film demonstrates fewer autistic traits consistent with Newtās behaviour in the first 2 films, apart from those marked final scenes (Tina/newt, newt & dumbledore.) One could argue that the noticeable behaviour in the scene between Tina & Newt outside the bakery is due to either (a) the removal of Newt from a high-stress, goal-focused heist situation into a more intimate personal situation combined with (b) social anxiety manifesting around people he cares deeply about (particularly given his history of miscommunication with Tina), or social anxiety around romantic situations in general. Itās also possible that (c) a heightened sensitivity to physiological cues associated with anxiety or ābutterflies,ā due to sensory sensitivity affects his behaviour in the Newtina scene ā physiological stress (in my anecdotal, personal experience) can make one flustered or struggle with speech, as attention is repeatedly and emphatically and uncomfortably drawn elsewhere in the body. (Or it could be something ENTIRELY different, like a script rewrite or massive editing that jettisoned consistent character development.) But, whatever the case ā yes, I agree Newt seems mostā¦. Wellā¦ Newt! in his interactions with Tina and Dumbledore at the end of the film.
(Though if you havenāt seen the missing scene of Theseus & Newt between Newt leaving China and Theseus & Newt going to Hogsmeadeā¦ Thatās rather a treasure trove of autistic-coded Newt, imho!! You can watch it here.)
As for the reasons why this change may have happenedā¦ I believe there are a few possibilitiesā¦
Personally, I think the fact that Secrets of Dumbledore (SoD/FB3) is structured more like a āheistā film than the earlier FB films plays a big role in that ā character development was secondary to plot (which was, admittedly, a bit convoluted).
From an out-of-world (e.g., non-character, non-plot, non-worldbuilding perspective), I think itās quite possible that Warner Brothers & co. were trying to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. I say this for a few reasonsā¦ (a) reactions to Newt as a character back in 2016 and 2018 were as polarised as you would expect for an autistic-coded main character in a mainstream action/adventure series. This might have inspired a shift in characterisation in FB3. Additionally, (b) by 2022, FB3āaccording to Warner Bro.āneeded to be a box office hit. It was affected by Covid filming issues, JKRās continued inane & controversial comments, actor drama & controversy, and generally non-HP level earnings at the box office for Crimes of Grindelwald/FB2ā¦. Messy! Producers might have thought a less socially awkward/autistic Newt would make it more palatable. I havenāt seen any evidence of producersā defending newtās characterisation since the FB2 era. But who knows. This is all guesswork.
However, from an in-universe perspective, some time has passed since CoG/FB2. Based on Lallyās comments in Jacobās bakery at the beginning of the film, approximately 1 year has passed (1927/8ish?). According to the screenplay, 5 years have passed (1932). (I tend to align myself with the 1932 timeline, due to subtle historical indicators; my own beliefs about Tina & Newtās different characterisations in FB3; and the lack of lasting impact Letaās death seems to have on Theseus & Newt by the time FB3 rolls around.) Anyway. I mention the time skip because I think itās possible that a time skip allows for Newtās character to minorly shift in a few waysā¦. (a) It allows Newt to settle into his confidence as a respected magizoologist, as well as gain distance from (i) World War 1 and (ii) young adulthood insecurities ā trauma, anxiety, and diminished sense of self and belonging can exacerbate traits of neurodivergence. (b) A time skip additionally ā (theoretically) ā allows for Newt to become more comfortable with people like Jacob, Theseus, Dumbledore etc. (and for them to become more used to him!), potentially further diminishing Newtās anxiety or certain autistic traits. Because autistic traits like stimming, for example, often correlate with higher levels of social stress or attempts to manage uncontrollable situations in controllable ways, Newt may rely less on these self-soothing methods because there is frankly less of a need. Converselyā¦
Newt might also be more self-aware by FB3. Heās in his 30s by now. Itās possible that heās masking his autistic traits during the middle of the film due to the political environment and high stakes situation in which he is functioning.
Anyway! Long story short, those are my thoughts!!!!! (Hope you actually wanted them, because you tapped into UEFB special interest, infodump mode.) Iām sure thereās more to be said, but thatās all my old brain can do for now. Thanks for the ask, beanwood, and I hope you are well!
Finally, Iām curious: What inspired you to ask me this in particular? Was it my utter flooding of the #autisticNewtScamander tag over the past few years? A particular post? My fics? Byyye.

dude but the whole face family is a mess of mental disorders and shit. At least if you want to nitpick. Australia and Murica are both ADHD, Canada a depressive lil shit, England is autistic and france bipolar as fuck. I'm still figuring out new Zealand so I can make bingo!
What happened to hi hello how are you š„²
Im fucking kidding lets go
I have many thoughts on this topic. I just wanna say first that i dont really want to talk about specifically what mental disorder or whatnot each of these characters have. I have my personal hc that i keep private just cus ive strayed so far from canon or even the classic hetalia 2014 country stereotyping. They are my blorbos in the purset sense of the word. So, i feel like if i told you āyeahh murica is adhd on legsā i think it would come across as insensitive.
But on the other hand, in the past 2 years that ive been in group therapy on and off, i have come to be comfortable with talking about mental disorders and dont find it as triggering or offensive as i know some people do. Which is also very valid. People deal with things the best they can and when youre in the trenches of ocd, having a weirdo (me āš) say a fictional character is going through it, it might not sit right. So i wanna keep this as non triggering as possible.
As almost everything i hc, this is something Iāve looked over. And i do agree to a point. Alfred is definitely someone who exhibits traits like excessive talking, impulsiveness, interrupting conversations, difficulty focusing at something that he finds little interest in etc etc. He is easily distracted and tends to find certain people boring. But he also does not have time management skills and he does not forget tasks and plans. Could this be adhd? Sure. Does it have to be? Of course not. So i tend to leave it up in the air. Some people might find comfort in interpreting it as adhd and some would rather stay clear. Both viewpoints equally valid.
I truly dont know about Jack or Arthur. Eleanor too. Honestly i dont really try to make up disorders for them. One thing i dislike is the labeling. If someone, even a silly character, does show traits of some disorder, id rather not have it outright mentioned. It can be cristal clear that Matt has a full on depressive episode, but let me figure that one out myself, chief. I am all in favour of making these fuckers complex and give them shit to shovel, but the moment we start throwing mental disorder labels around, i think the focus strays. But again, only my preference. To someone else, its a comfort.
However, as he is my knight of the highest order, my highest ranking babygirl, my worst punching bag: Matt is depressed as shit. He functions but, God, at what cost?
Does he have depression? Probably. Will i ever make a serious post about his depression specifically? Probably not.
Francois though. He has no disorders, no hardships or difficulties. Makes it easier for me to actively and effectively hate. We are currently negotiating a stalemate, as ive, just today, heard Sous le ciel de Paris after forgetting that song existed. Good fucking song tho. Willing to negotiate the terms of Francoisā surrender.
#ask meli#i passed my math exam today which i forgot we had :))))))))))))#genuenly proud of myself#anyway waht i wanted to say was if you want them to have soecific mental disorders no problem if you want to leave it vague no problem#fun to think about tho i agree#hetalia#hws america#hws england#hws canada#hws france#my headcanons

hey... i mean this in a completely respectful way and i'm sorry if it comes off as otherwise, but i'm genuinely curious about all the anti narc abuse content on your blog... while i fully believe that it's possible for pwNPD to not abuse people, i also fully believe that ppl can be extremely traumatized by pwNPD (two of my friends have mothers with NPD and have extreme trauma stemming from said mothers NPD traits) so i'm genuinely just curious what exactly you mean by "narc abuse"??? i'm really sorry if i offend anyone but i'm just- genuinely curious and hoping to learn more about the disorder because i've had a lot of pwNPD in my life and wanna know more about how they work, how to treat them, etc
Hi! No worries, I accept all questions that are in good faith, and if i can be honest I really admire your desire to learn more, AND I admire the fact that you're so candid about your current feelings about pwNPD. I'd much rather have a person who is willing to learn more after having had bad experiences with pwNPD, than a person who doesn't know anything about NPD and just inherently assumes the worst of us.
But to answer your question: I don't think there's a single neurodivergent person out there - narcissist or otherwise - who denies the fact that their disorder/disability can make them act in ways that they wouldn't act if they were neurotypical. However, no one is abusive/rude/toxic/whatever SOLELY because of their mental illness or PD or disability. For instance, I've had some friends who were really rude to me due to the fact that their Autism makes social cues difficult, but they didn't "autistically abuse" me or anything, and I don't "autistically abuse" people when I myself fumble with social cues due to my own Autism.
(Obviously 'not understanding social cues' isn't comparable to abuse anyway, but you get what I'm trying to say, right?)
While some pwNPD might indeed be "bad people" - for lack of a better term - due to their NPD, that isn't the case for the vast majority of pwNPD, so terms like "narcissist abuse" or equating narcissism with abuse hurts all pwNPD and further stigmatizes the disorder. Even the people whose toxic or abusive behavior can be contributed to their NPD, it's still harmful to call it narcissist abuse, bc it implies that it's ONLY the fact that they have a personality disorder that makes them abuse people, and thus it's only possible for them to stop abusing people if they recover (please note PDs are really hard if not impossible to make a full recovery from).
Also, there's not really any specific flavor of abuse that's exclusive to pwNPD. Like, what does narc abuse mean? That you're a selfish, entitled asshole who constantly puts other people down to feel better about yourself? Well, there's plenty of people without NPD that are like that! Does it mean that you're blind to your loved one's feelings and always prioritize yourself over them and don't care when your loved one is hurting? That's not exclusive to NPD either! Most "narc abuse" behaviors can really be attributed to ANY abuser, regardless of neurotype. I'd even argue that there's more people withOUT npd that do those behaviors than there are people with.
I hope that helped, let me know if you have any more questions!
