These character profiles are written as if they were taken from the game manual for Cherry Mountain Love!! (the game from  Reincarnated into My Wife’s Dating Sim; Why Is the Prince Obsessed With Me!), so the characters are a little different than how they appear in our story.

Protagonist

Description: Was born as the daughter to a commoner blacksmith but on her 15th birthday she began to be able to use water magic. She was taken in by the Baron Tay family and later enrolled at the Cherry Mountain Academy. She longs for love and hopes not to get turned around in this new world!

Trauma: Is smart and talented but believes that his eldest brother, Cub, who abdicated the throne is more fit to be king. He dislikes high society and wishes not to be king. 

His Route: Getting him to open up and acknowledge his accomplishments. His fiance bullies Gem, but Etho steps in and in the final event condemns her. If successful, Gem and Etho get married and rule the kingdom peacefully.

Bad Ending: Etho and Pearl get married, Etho not being confident doesn’t rule well, leading to the kingdom's ruin.

Secret Hobbies: Redstone, Gardening

Appearance: Long Brown Hair (Usually Pulled Into A Ponytail), Blue Eyes

Description: Foreign Prince of Dogwarts, Princely bubbly type, he was sent to the academy as a political tool as his fiancé, Martyn Woods, is the son of a duke from this kingdom. His kingdom is not as violent as people believe it is.

Trauma: Because of his country’s perceived power and prestige as a military country people are very scared of getting on his bad side and so treat him like he’s made of glass and avoid him. 

His Route: His Fiancé Martyn is very obsessed with him, almost more like an underling than a lover, treating him like a normal person will gain affection. His fiancé gets jealous and attacks you, no fear for Prince Ren will save you. 

Bad ending: Ren and Martyn get married, but because of Martyn's worship it gets strained, leading to the crumbling of the alliance.

Secret hobbies: Baking and Music

Name: Grian Moon

Age: 16

Magic Type: Water

Appearance: Medium Length Golden Brown Hair, Black Eyes

Description: Eldest son of the Archduke Moon’s family, his father is the prime minister. Is a ‘womanizer’ (but not for women). Has a fiancé, Mumbo, but is also leading on the 3rd Prince, Scar. 

Trauma: Got lots of attention as a kid because he was a protégete, but once his sister got engaged to Prince Etho she became the star of the family, in his jealousy he seeks for attention wanting people to love him.

His Route: Separate him from his two lovers to become his main love, convince him you love him and he has worth

Bad Ending: Marries either Mumbo or Scar depending on who you have more progress separating.

Secret Hobbies: Fishing, Trouble 

Name: Joel Beans  

Age: 15-16 (turns 16 during an event)

Magic Type: Earth

Appearance: Medium Length Brown Hair with a Single Green Streak, Brown Eyes

Roommate: Martyn Woods

Description: Only Son of the Count Beans, is intensely sad and often found alone. He is engaged to Jimmy Moon

Trauma: His mother died when he was young and his father was murdered years later, he is very scared about people abandoning him.

His Route: is about trying to convince Joel that he either doesn’t need Jimmy or convince Jimmy not to leave him. 

Bad Ending: Joel and Jimmy end up together.

Antagonists

Name: Pearl Moon

Age: 16

Magic Type: Water

Appearance: Long Brown Hair, Blue Eyes

Roommate: False Symmetry

Description: Sister to Grian and Jimmy, Etho’s fiancé. Fell in love with Etho when they met for their engagement meeting, when he doesn’t visit or care for her she feels abandoned but when they interact he’s sweet enough that she can delude herself that he cares. After being engaged, she gains pressure as crown prince's fiancé and is shunned by her siblings. In her years of isolation she is ‘comforted’ with the thought that Etho loves her. Her hatred for Gem starts when Gem ranks higher than her on the entrance exam. When Etho starts falling for Gem, she goes mad attacking and harassing her for stealing her Etho.

Good ending: Pearl gets exiled for an attempt to end Gem’s life. She snaps and in her revenge she [redacted] which leads to her death at the hands of Prince Etho

Bad ending: She marries Etho but is still driven mad and drives the kingdom to the ground

Name: Martyn Woods

Age: 16

Magic Type: Air

Appearance: Medium Length Blond Hair (Usually Pulled Back), Blue Eyes

Roommate: Joel Beans

Class Ranking: 103rd

Family: Duke and Duchess Woods

Description: Son of a Duke, Ren’s Fiancé. Meets Ren for the first time when Ren joins the Academy, but is obsessed with the military prowess of the walled country of Dogwarts. Believes Ren to be a great military man, and does not try to get to know him. When Gem pursues Ren, Ren starts embracing some of his hobbies (ie music) but Martyn thinks Gem is corrupting him with non important non violent things. Martyn gets violent with Gem.

Good ending: Martyn gets exiled from both Ipomoea and Dogwarts

Bad ending: Martyn marries Ren

Name: Scar

Age: 16

Magic Type: Air

Appearance: Short Brown Hair, Green Eyes, Lightly Scarred Skin

Roommate: Etho

Class Ranking: 13th

Description: Is the 3rd prince of the kingdom of Ipomoea. Fell in love with Grian at first sight during his brother’s engagement meeting, but Grian was already engaged and his brother was engaged to Grian’s sister. Still he pursues Grian anyways, trying to end his engagement. When Gem begins to pursue Grian, he makes attempts to get her away from him although they are never violent attempts. Gem can persuade him to leave Grian alone romantically and follow his passion for either magic or animals. 

Good ending: Scar agrees to be just friends with Grian and instead take interest in other things

Bad ending: Scar marries Grian

Name: Jimmy Moon

Age: 15

Magic Type: Water

Appearance: Tall, Short Blond Hair, Brown Eyes

Class Ranking: 114th

Description: Younger Brother to Grian and Pearl, Joel’s fiancé. Falls in love with the stable hand, Tango, at the academy, and plans to run away with him. Jimmy does not have a strong relationship with Joel. Does not antagonize Gem, but has plenty of interactions with her and Joel. 

Good ending: Runs away with Tango

Bad ending: Marries Joel

Name: Mumbo Jumbo 

Age: 16

Magic Type: Earth

Appearance: Short Black Hair, Black Eyes

Roommate: Jimmy Moon

Description: Son of a Marquis, is Grian’s Fiancé. Shy, awkward guy but deeply in love with Grian, refuses to let Scar end the engagement, but ultimately wants what’s best for Grian. When Gem pursues Grian, Mumbo does not try to lead Gem away, as he does not feel threatened by her. Gem can persuade him by helping him flourish his passion for redstone or traveling. 

Good ending: Mumbo leaves for the redstone tower or to travel the world

Bad ending: Mumbo marries Grian

Secret ending: If Gem persuades Mumbo to follow his passion for traveling and still gets the bad ending with Grian, she can unlock the Mumbo ending where she pursues Mumbo and ends up traveling the world with him. 

Name: Tango 

Age: 16

Magic Type: N/A

Appearance: Medium Length Spiky Blond Hair (But Depending On His Emotions, It Can Appear Orange Or Even Red), Red Eyes

Roommate: Groundskeeper Impulse

Class Ranking: N/A

Family: Groundskeeper Impulse, Skizz

Description: Tango is a Secret Love Interest. He is the stable boy at Cherry Mountain Academy. He does not have magic but his race, half Blazian, allows him to have small fire abilities, but he hides them. He is originally in love with Jimmy, but if Gem gets the bad ending on the Joel route she can unlock the Tango route. 

Trauma: Tango has never been to the country of Blaze, he didn’t know his Blazian father and his mother died when he was young. He was taken in by the school's groundskeeper, Impulse, another Blazian, at age 10.

His Route: After getting Joel’s bad ending, Gem can meet with Tango and help console him after losing his love. Gem and Tango get closer and love blossoms between them. Gem helps Tango with his identity problems and his desire to work with redstone 

Good Ending: Gem and Tango travel to blaze together and live happily.

Individuals and some design notes below!

Joel

I didn’t want to give him too many “heavier” type clothing items. He’s constantly hot (temperature) so wanted to minimize more “hot” clothes. He wears a loose white tank top and a black pleather vest, as well as brown pants and black pleather boots. I gave him fingerless gloves for two reasons. 1: They’re cool. Joel wants to look cool, at all times. And 2: I like wearing fingerless gloves (I just like the feeling of it) so more self-projection :3 He has his usual jewelry that I give him (a heart necklace, three earrings on his left ear, an eyebrow piercing, a necklace with a feather from Jimmy and Grian, and three piercings on his tail tip) and I made his usual bug antennae into demon horns cus he loses the bug in this au (just felt it was too much) I love how pissed off he looks here

Grian

I love when people draw Grian as this tall and lanky bird human cryptid guy so that’s what I went for. I think I accomplished it pretty well :3 I usually imagine he has multiple wings so I kept that here. He’s got three sets of wings on his head/face and two sets on his back. I actually didn’t give him anything too different from my usual design for him. Same tail, same basic outfit, etc etc. Main thing different here is his little horns and hairstyle (hairstyle only because I constantly struggle with his hair but this might become a new default). Grian (and many other people with animal feet) wear basically toe-less socks that usually just cover the bottom of the person’s feet. It’s to protect them from the different textures that may harm the bottom of their feet. You can see these on Gem and Etho as well. Grian wears them for looks, since bird feet are a bit stronger than the average paw pad. Also, he wears glasses cus why not. Also also, not pictured here is a matching necklace with Joel, with a feather from Jimmy and Joel.

Gem

Gem pretty much barely changed. Her hairstyle changed, and I added some skulk bits on her back. Also I changed her ears a bit. But she’s still a jackalope centaur with semi-curly hair, and wears a sweater beneath a pair of overalls. I did give her a wrist thing cus she’s the gadget maker of the group (don’t know why, just felt it cool). But that’s about it

Etho

Etho didn’t change ate all. Actually this is just the best I’ve drawn his jacket (I struggle with it). His hair is a little different than the last time I drew it but other than that Etho’s the same as ever

Jimmy and some others (Scar, Tango, and Pearl most likely) will be coming soon. I’ll be trying to work on these designs while I wait for the ao3 invitation thing so I can make an account an upload more of the full fic there for you guys :3 (the expected day for it to get to me is January 28th so it might be a bit but it’s fineeee)

Life series hybrid headcanons I really like that aren’t the main headcanon for each charachter

Cleo:

Mainly a zombie, but I really adore mouse Cleo. It’s kinda random and obscure but I was just throwing things at the wall with random hybrids ages ago for those hybrid swap posts and came up with mouse Cleo and now she’s one of my fave hcs ever.

Scar:

Mainly a vex, but I see him as a moobloom. The flowers are related to each season, Third Life being lilacs, Last Life being poppies, Double Life is cornflowers, limited life I’m not sure on, Secret Life is sunflowers, real life he’s a mooshroom, and Wild Life it’s bamboo.

Pearl:

This one’s hard because the main one is definitely moth, but wolf is too popular to put as my “uncommon headcanon” so imma go with cat. Cat pearl is really funny to me, especially in the context of Double Life. Kitty in charge of a pack of wolves, peak humour.

Martyn:

Another tricky one but this time because there’s no real commonly agreed on headcanon for him from what I’ve seen. Everyone really makes him a human or some random hybrid. Personally I usually see him as a phantom hybrid (I could ramble about phantom Martyn for ages <3 I love him <33) but also cat Martyn is super fun, especially in Secret Life. He also just has wet cat vibes.

Etho:

I see arctic fox Etho or eldritch being Etho the most, but personally I see him as a snow lynx. I just think it fits him and it looks good with his white hair. Also snow lynx in a white castle in Third Life then the snow fort in Last Life? It fits so good imo.

Jimmy:

Canary Jimmy is obvious the most common one, and I totally understand why, but with the canary curse being gone it’s opened my eyes to breeze Jimmy. It was the first thing that popped into my head when I thought about hybrids for him, and I think it’s such a cool concept. It also matches with Tango in Double Life, blaze and breeze, I love it. Begging y’all to see my vision here.

Lizzie:

Fairy Lizzie is the common one, and tbh it’s mine too, but my uncommon hc for her is cat! (Wow there’s a lot of cats on this list it’s almost like they’re my fave animal-). She’s skittish, cute, awkward at times, but can be incredibly deadly when she feels like it and locks in. Also empires season 2 reference ;3

BigB:

This is same as Martyn, there’s no popularly agreed headcanon for him, but I guess I’ll use creaking since it got super popular from Wild Life, but I’ve not seen it much outside of Wild Life. My rare headcanon for him is curly haired mouse! I don’t have a lot of reasoning for this one I just think it’s cute.

Tango:

Everyone’s seen blaze Tango, it’s the universal headcanon by everyone, but holy shit bee Tango is so fun. That one post about it has blown my mind, he’s so cool. Angry lil bee. I love him.

Scott:

Scotts a tricky one (again) cause like the others there’s no super common one, but I see him with pointed ears a LOT so I guess elf is the main one. My rare hc for him is unicorn, which is so insane to me that that’s rare. It’s so obvious?? It’s so perfect???? Why do people not see the vision…

Mumbo:

Vampire Mumbo is obviously the most popular one and again it’s my normal hc for him but bat Mumbo is my guilty pleasure. Not vampire bat, just bat. He’s got lil bat wings and lil fangs, he has those claw hook things on his inner wrists. He’s just a lil guy. I love him <3

Skizz:

I don’t watch Skizz much but from fanart I’ve seen him as an angel the most. I really like angel Skizz and it’s probs my main hc for him, but butterfly Skizz <3 he’s so silly. Huge buff scarred man screaming LETS DANCE at you and then he’s got huge butterfly wings. What a guy!

Bdubs:

Obviously moss/glare is the common one, and mine too, but holy shit sniffer Bdubs. Please. Looks super similar in design but I think him impulsively finding flowers and plants for Impulse and Etho and Cleo and such is super funny.

These nexts ones were REALLY hard, I struggled to think of something for these ones cause I see them so strongly as the popular ones.

Joel:

He doesn’t necessarily have an agree upon one other than bug but I can’t use ogre as the rare one cause I feel like that’s also super popular. I don’t really like tiger Joel all that much personally so that can’t be my rare one so idk 😭. Fairy I guess, matching with fairy Lizzie. Also it’s funny that he’s this scary evil guy, and then he’s sparkly and has fairy wings.

Gem:

Deer and fox are the popular ones and honestly it’s perfect I wouldn’t change a thing. There’s nothing here that can be improved upon, it’s perfect.

Grian:

Grian is so avian I can’t think of anything else, he’s just a fuckass bird. What do you want from me /lh! Also Watcher obv.

Ren:

Okay what do you want from me here. He’s a dog, he’s a wolf, he’s renDOG. What am I supposed to do here. Anything else doesn’t fit 😭😭!! I couldn’t come up with something for him. He’s just a dog.

Impulse:

Same as Ren, he’s IMPulse what do ya want me to do LMAO. I did see cow Impulse once and I think that’s really cool so I guess that’s my rare one for him ;3

Welcome to Day 4!!!

Another late upload 😭 but I had to catch up on my sleep after a long, long weekend and the person who this is for asked to play a game so it’s okay.

Anyways, today is very very exciting for reasons you are about to see, so sit back, relax, and enjoy:

Day 4: Scottho, Ice Skating

The reason today is so exciting is because this is my first Scottho fic! It’s a ship I’ve loved for a while and that combined with that fact that I have figure skating autism? Well, this was very fun to write.

Vi I really hope you love it (Considering I referenced the rp we did a ton for it)!!! Because I sure do.

Scott watches Etho with a fond smile as he struggles to lace his ice skates. “Need some help there Etho?” He teases.

His boyfriend groans, “Yes please.”

After making sure her leg warmers are perfectly adjusted over her skates, Scott kneels in front of him, quickly tying and double knotting the laces into little bows. He pats the side of Etho’s skate and says, “All done! Though honestly babe, it’s just like tying any other shoe.”

He pouts down at Scott and whines, “I don’t know! I- just figured it was. Like a super secret special way to tie skates or something.”

“Oh my god I love you,” she laughs brightly and stands, tilting his face up to press a kiss to his lips over his mask, “Now, let’s get you standing!” He claps his hands then holds them out to help him stand.

The taller takes a deep breath, then hesitantly holds onto Scott and stands.

He falls over immediately and into her arms.

Scott laughs at him again and settles to just hold Etho for a moment; he looks around as he does so.

The sun is setting on a cold winter's day, they’re two weeks out from Christmas and the holiday spirit was in the air. Ice skating (particularly figure skating) was something Scott had loved since she was a kid. He’d done it professionally for most of his early life, and had even gone to win the Junior Grand Prix series twice. However, after suffering an injury due to sabotage, he’d never been able to compete again, despite the fact that he could skate just as well as he’d been able to before the accident. The people around him hadn’t wanted to risk it. She’s never quite gotten over it, having been on track to make her Olympic debut just 6 months before the injury. She’d gotten to live a decently normal life afterwards, helped by the fact that she’d been young and had made many appearance changes. Like how his curly hair is long and cyan instead of short and blonde. Or the much more feminine style he’d taken on.

“Scott?” Etho questions and waves a hand in his face, “You there?”

“Hm? Oh! Sorry, got a little lost in thought,” he says and kisses his cheek in apology. “Ready to try standing again?” Despite the question, Scott is already grabbing hold of him tighter and guiding him to balance.

“Like this?” He mutters as he shifts his weight slightly and stands. His legs are wobbling, but he does manage to stay upright.

“Yes! That’s great! Okay, we just need to get you to the ice now!” He exclaims happily.

He nods and grips Scott’s hand (probably harder than he should) as she moves them over to ice. ���How do you walk in these!” Etho complains lightheartedly.

“I just do darling,” he giggles and steps onto the ice. He laughs harder as his boyfriend almost immediately falls down, “Careful, we don’t want you to hurt that pretty face of yours do we?” Scott teases before he pulls Etho up, keeping an arm around the man’s waist so he doesn’t topple again. “Take it slow, we’re gonna go one step at a time alright? I’ve got you,” he smiles softly, a look just for her partner.

Etho nods and whines much like he did earlier, “How in the world do you do this? And hey! I’ve never done this before, not everyone is some- international award winning skater!” He pouts at Scott’s teasing and lays his head on his shoulder.

“I know, I know, I just like teasing you. Now,” he kisses his forehead and puts on his coaching voice, “First we need to correct your stance. Let’s get you standing before we try to actually skate.” Scott pulls back and starts to show Etho how he’s standing. “First, bend your knees and ankles slightly,” she instructs.

The taller nods and sticks his arms to the side as he does what he’s told.

“There we go! Now, I know you’re allergic to straight posture but that’s really important here. Try to center your weight.”

“Hey!” he says, still following his partner's directions.

“What! I’m not wrong! You work a job hunched over a computer all day, and I’ve seen the way you sit when you play video games. Keep your head up, I’m gonna let go and see how you’re doing.” Scott pulls away with a final squeeze of his hand.

Etho stiffens, slowly standing up straight and keeping his balance. He grins, “I’m doing it!”

Scott giggles excitedly, “You are! Okay, okay, let’s try some swizzles now. It’s a good way to test your skates.” Scott demonstrates a swizzle, legs arching in and out in a wavy pattern. She grabs Etho’s hands and starts guiding him through it. “Point your toes in the direction you wanna move,” he tacks on as Etho wobbles.

You can’t see it, but Etho has his tongue stuck out under his mask in concentration, following what Scott tells him. He rather quickly gets it down, still clinging to Scott’s hand. “What next?” He asks, voice taking a tinge of excitement as he finally starts to get it.

“Great! You’re going so good babe!” Scott exclaims elatedly. “Now we’re gonna try to start and stop okay? Take a step, glide a little, stop. Piece of cake! Ready?” His face is flushed pink with the cold and his laughter, this was such a wonderful way to spend an evening.

Etho laughs as he begins to practice, still shaking on his feet. He slowly starts to move around the rink, Scott following along.

Soon, a gentle snowfall begins. It casts the world around them in gentle white and only adds to the atmosphere. The Christmas tree in the center shines brightly and the sounds of people having a good time fills the air.

The snow settling in Etho’s already white hair looks like glitter in the evening light, and Scott stops for a moment, to simply admire her boyfriend. His face is twisted in concentration as he focuses on getting better at skating. It’s adorable that he’s doing it all for him, stars above he loves him so much.

Scott soon gets lost in the picturesque scene for a little longer than he should, not realising that Etho had been jerked back by her hand. It wasn’t until they were both hitting the ice that she realised they had fallen over.

Etho yelps as they fall, slipping and landing on top of Scott with another whine. “Sorry-” he laughs.

“That was my fault! Don’t worry about it, I was uh… a little distracted,” he says as he stands and then helps his partner.

“By meeee?” he giggles.

“Yes by you,” Scott rolls his eyes. He pulls Etho closer, wrapping her arms around his waist with a loving smile, “You’re beautiful.”

“So are you, my love,” he hums as he tries to stay balanced, brushing some snow from Scott’s hair.

Scott softens and pulls Etho in for a quick kiss, placing it over his mask. “I love you so much, thank you for doing this with me.”

“Of course! I’m having fun!’ he grins, pulling back and starting to slowly skate forward.

“I’m glad.” He continues to guide Etho through the motions, he’d done surprisingly well so far all things considered.

After about 15 minutes Scott gasps a little, “Oh I love this song!” She exclaims, “I did my free skate to this my first Grand Prix. Do you mind if I…” he trails off with a blush.

“Go ahead, I’ll be right here angel,” Etho blows him a kiss and goes to lean against the railing.

He giggles and catches the kiss, pressing it to his cheek then starts skating.

Scott spins and starts humming along, the routine comes back to him easily. It’s about the one minute mark and he gains speed to jump into his first triple axel. An incredibly hard move to do, despite it becoming increasingly more common. It sets the tone for the routine though as he goes for a combo, a triple axel into a triple loop. There’s applause and awe around him, and it feels exactly like it had back then. He skates for another little while, flawlessly hitting every move, until it comes time for the last jump. A quad loop. She’d been the first junior to land one. The first person in the whole world actually. Scott takes a deep breath as he goes to complete it, he gathers some speed and momentum, then launches himself in the air.

The skater giggles as he lands, a perfect jump. After finishing the choreographic sequence of the routine, he breathes heavily on the ground. Slowly coming back to himself as a bright grin paints his face. Though there’s only one thought on his mind.

The raucous sound of applause hit him first and once he’s recovered enough, he stands and bows.

Scott goes back to Etho as soon as he can and wraps his arms around his boyfriend, not noticing how stunned he looks. “Hi darling! Did you see? Did I do good?” She asks him, desperately hoping he’s proud of her.

Etho stares at him, taking a second to process exactly what he’d just seen. Obviously he knew Scott had competed and won internationally, obviously he knew that this was his weekend job, but he hadn’t actually- realised just how good his boyfriend is at this sport. “Scott, you were- I mean- oh snappers,” he laughs and wraps her up tight in his arms. “You were incredible, baby,” he praises breathlessly.

Scott buries his face in his chest to hide the blush creeping over his cheeks, “I can’t believe I didn’t ask you to come skating with me sooner. Thank you. So much. For everything, not just this.”

“You’re very welcome,” he murmurs and pulls his mask down, leaning down for a kiss after he does so.

They spend the rest of a very lovely evening skating together, and then go out for dinner to their favourite restaurant.

As they head back to Scott’s car from dinner, they swing their joined hands back and forth, commenting on the best parts of the evening.

Before they can get in, Scott giggles and wraps her arms around Etho’s neck, “Thank you again love, today was perfect,”

Etho giggles back and wraps his own arms around Scott’s waist after pulling his mask down, “You’re very welcome, this was wonderful. We’ll definitely do it again. “I love you, Scott,” he smiles down at her.

“I love you too,” he responds as easily as breathing and connects their lips once again. Etho tastes sweet like the vanilla cake they just ate, and he’s nice and warm against the cold of winter. It’s a kiss that feels like belonging. After Scott had searched all his life for somewhere to fit in after losing his skating career, he’d found it right here. In Etho’s arms under a sky lit up with stars. Maybe they’d only been together for a year, but she could tell this is the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. He can only hope Etho feels the same. Spoiler alert: He does.

It’s only a year later when Etho proposes. He brings Scott back to the outdoor ice rink for it, back to the place that had truly made them both realise just how in love they were.

It had been an immediate and teary yes.

The wedding, another year in the future, had been a beautiful and intimate ceremony in December. Scott, to Etho’s absolute delight, had worn a long sleeve wedding gown, instead of a suit, long cyan curls left to hang loose. He looked beautiful, and Scott thought the same of his partner. They’d both cried pretty hard during the vows, and the party after had been wonderful.

It had been a long road to find each other, years of heartache, injury, and loneliness. But it had all been worth it in the end. Because they’d found each other, and that’s all they could have ever wished for.

@gentlemanpirate Very kindly flattered me about my art on my server and I wanted to go a little more into my design ethos here on tumblr, even though I already talked some about it in my server. Because I like hearing myself talk.

It's probably because I'm pansexual/ace or something but I genuinely don't believe in the idea of "ugly" or "unattractive." I think that quite literally anything can be "made" attractive or even sexy, but moreso I think that being human is beautiful, and the things that come with it--age, scars, disability, imperfections--are beautiful too. Not in spite of, but because of. Even if someone's body shape is "unhealthy" I still believe this. Whether too fat or too skinny or uneven or lumpy or wrinkly or scarred, whatever.

So I try to extend that to my designs and how I draw characters, too. I try to incorporate something "unattractive" in every design I make, something society tends to call "ugly" or "undesirable." Things I've heard people be made fun of for or heard people be self-conscious about, and I try to show how I see the beauty in that trait.

It's easy to see in my older characters but even my younger characters get it too. Pel has almost no curves and tiny tits and I still draw her attractive. Mo is the most conventionally attractive and he still has front teeth that are too big, hair all over, big bumpy nose.

Because someone out there has those traits, and I hope that if they see them, that they feel beautiful too--not in spite of, but because of.

I do so while also trying to divorce any physical design from morality. It's so easy to give villains "ugly" designs, traits that society deems "ugly" but still, someone out there has those traits and they're perfectly good people, and that has to hurt, seeing those traits constantly associated with evil and ugliness. My characters will have the same physical traits whether good, bad, heroes, villains, protags or antags, whatever. No one becomes more beautiful because they're good, or more ugly because they're bad.

Even the twins. I hope it's so apparent that they would look the exact same even if they were Momo's favorite uncles and weren't homophobic and weren't the bane of TB's existence. They're not balding, pot-bellied old men because they're assholes, they're balding, pot-bellied old men because they're 60-something and that's just how their bodies ended up because of factors thye can and can't control, and there's many good-hearted people who are also balding, pot-bellied, and old.

Momo is arguably far more moral and kind and he ends up physically almost exactly the same as his uncles as he gets old: pot-bellied and balding and osteoarthritic and wrinkled. Because that's just what bodies do. He doesn't end up less fat or balding or unattractive just because he's a good person. (Which is also subjective!)

And the twins themselves were just as much assholes when they were young and conventionally attractive as they are now.

So I guess I'm trying to say is I never draw characters with unattractive traits because... I don't believe in any trait being unattractive in the first place! Crooked teeth, missing teeth, yellow teeth, armpit hair, heavy scars, missing limbs, pot-bellies, sagging skin, overweight, underweight, wrinkles, flab, receding hairlines, high definition, poor definition, bones, muscles, curly hair, flat hair, green hair, large [redacted], small [redacted], freckles, warts, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I think it's beautiful because it's part of you. It feels really cheesy and contrite to say but I do believe that. So I hope that comes across in the way I draw and design characters. I see so much beauty in other people, in all of these traits that society tends to deem "ugly", and I hope other people can see that beauty too through my art.

A lot of our guys look pretty average, I'm not one to add a lot ornimentation to characters. But I do have some headcannons for build, hair cuts, ect. I'll preface that I grabbed these pictures form Pintrest super fast, I do not own any of them.

Tango is my biggest change from his cannon apperance. Obviously he can't have fire hair in a realistic modern au, lmao. But I went with a really bright golden blond that's common in Texas.

This nice guy from the internet has the right style and color for MOE Tango.

wow okay that photo loaded in massive. EITHER WAY. This kind of hair cut is really popular with the cowboys because its easy to shove under a hat. It rolls back from the face, and thats extra helpful because the wind is crazy when riding a horse, you want the hair to blow out of your eyes instead of into them. The downside? Its a tapered haircut so its does kind of look like a mullet when it grows out. I like that this photo also has curly hair because so does Tango.

As for Tango's build, I think I've only decribed him as "broad". Tango isn't as short in this AU as I've seen him presented in other fanworks. Jimmy is 6'0 and Tango is 5'10, without his boots on.

Ranch hand/cowboy is a very physical job. Tango didn't just live on the edge of a ranch, he worked on it from the moment he was able. He did the same kind of labor his father was doing. Riding horses, lifting calfs, lifting bale/muck/saddles, lassoing, makes a guy strong. I'm not gonna say he's ripped because he's not, but there is a lot of muscle there that doesn't go away easily. Now he's lifing machines and squatting under doo-hickeys for long periods of time, or holding a fule line in one spot for way too long. He's still got his strength.

THIS MEANS: Tango is built like a cowboy. Broad shoulders, wide thighs, wide hands. here are some photos I found that I like to imagine are photos of Tango.

JIMMY!!!!

He is not skinny, he is lean and very toned. Start with basic Jimmy here--he's tall (6'0) and has broad shoulders to match that height. He has long legs, to create height. His hands are thin but very wide. (I talk a lot about hands in chapter 4, hold out for that) "But sauce" I hear you asking, "how is he toned? does he hit the gym?" Why I'm so glad you asked! I cannot for the life of my find where to mention it in MOE but Jimmy plays volleyball. He doesn't do competetive anymore but he plays every week with some friends. THIS MEAANNNSSS strong toned legs, defined back, fantastic shoulder to waist ratio, great ass.

Here are some volleyball players to help visualize the kind of muscle he would build.

I know I tend to use traditionally feminine words to desribe Jimmy. This is because I find those words most effective when decribing fluffy scenes (Tango is pretty too. That will be a line in chapter four). But I think I also lean into those because Jimmy isn't built in a streotypically masculine way like Tango is. He has softer lines and better definition.

SKIZZ

I have an entire chapter that revolves around the lab (Chapter six I think?) It will have a lot more TIES interactions and decriptions of the lab boys/how they interact with eachother. Untill then though! Skizz in the only character I have Tatoos for! He has an angelic half sleeve that's not finished. It's currently a half that trails up past his elbow. becuase of the lab explosion (mentioned in chapter 3) he lost a lot of skin on this shoulder and bicep. He can't finish the peice because of the scar tissue.

He made the design himself based off classical art with biblical themes. The sketches for the upper half are on the cork board in the lab, right over his desk. Impulse is planning to get the second half for Skizz's birthday. Then they can be matching halves to one image. That's a secret though.

I have never once thought about if Etho dyes his hair or not. In this AU (as compared to my Scarian florist/professor au that has never left the hell doc) Etho wears the mask to cover up a scar instead of for medical reasons. He hasn't always worn the mask. Bdubs has known Etho pre-mask and was there when the accdient happened. Grian knew Etho pre-mask but not for very long and suggested fabric masks because it would be softed on the sensetive skin. Jimmy has never known Etho pre-mask. (this time line will make sense when I release chapter four)

I think he just has white hair. that soft grey-white that some people just naturally have. Maybe I'll play around with a premature grey kind of vibe, but I'll have to research it a little. This is an idea we'll return to. OKAY LAST BIT

It always circles back to Texas. In the opener to Chapter three, Tango metions Caliche dirt. (THIS IS A MYSTERY MOUSKATOOL) Caliche dirt is super common in West Texas, where there is a mix of desert, canyon, and shrubland. I sadly have no pictures of how beautiful the Bison ranches are out there. I do have some random grabs from the internet though, to paint an idea of what Tango's life looked like.

part two of bnha/hermitcraft crossover au

alright, here’s part two, the first one was already quite long so I’m splitting it into parts. If you’d like to know the context, please go look for the other one, it’ll be floating around somewhere. Anyways :]

Cleo- I’ve been thinking, since Cleo’s username is ZombieCleo, why not use that? So her quirk would work like a starfish. She could remove her limbs, or body parts, and essentially just grow them back. Understandably her quirk is quite similar to Setsuna’s, but Cleo would be unable to control those parts of herself after they’ve come off, but if she wanted to she could hit people with them like weapons. Apologies if that sounds incredibly morbid. And considering people draw her like a zombie, I personally like to imagine her seeing a picture of Dabi online, and immediately wanting some sort of piercings like that because of how cool they look, so… oh and her quirk would grant her higher pain tolerance too.

Bdubs- I have a feeling that either his quirk gives him some built in internal clock, or his power activates at night. But I think his quirk is centred around plants like moss? So his hair is moss, and he weirdly smells like soil all the time, and maybe he could grow plants and moss wherever he stepped? So I feel like he would possibly mentor Komori if he was a pro hero, which would be a little funny in my mind. He’s also an exterior landscaper in his free time.

Etho- his quirk serves no purpose, other than him being a sheep hybrid. So his hair would be soft and curly like wool, his ears would be sheep ears, and he doesn’t have normal feet, but rather hoofs. that’s basically it though. he does have to shave his head every once in a while or it gets too thick. This would probably sound weird to most people, but I assure you he has knitted a few pairs of socks with his own wool.

well, there will certainly be more of these, because I want to make more, so uh… yeah! And my main goal for these, is for people to like them and for it to make them happy too. I know I’m happy that just people liked it so… oh and if you have any ideas too, I would like to hear them, desperately. >:]

Chapter 4- The Champion and the Spirit

Scott sat in his bedroom humming to himself. He checked the group chat. The Codvengers - Pix, the Wither Rose Alliance - Pearl, and Kathrine were meeting up. He texted ‘good luck’ to Gem, Lizzie, and Kathrine. He turned back to his knitting and then realized that no one would be on watch. He put down the scarf that he was making and texted ‘The Ice King is going out.’ 

Scott put his phone in his pocket. He headed to the kitchen. His brother was sitting at the table reading a cookbook. 

“I’m heading out.” 

“Alright be careful.” His brother answered. Scott put on his shoes and headed to Rivendell. Once he was in his shop he went to the backroom and took off his jacket and put on his robes. He looked at himself in the mirror as he put on his crown and headed out. 

He watched ¾ of the Codvengers enter House Blossom. He sighed as he watched Jimmy enter the cafe.

Gaslight landed on the roof that he was on. The Ice King looked up at the zombie. They were in their normal attire of an outfit that belonged in the 80s. It was bright and neon. They also had their red curly hair tied up in a ponytail.

“Hello Gaslight.” He bowed. “Where’s Poet?”

“Not here.” They replied coolly looking at their nails. The Ice King shot ice out of his hands. Gaslight dodge it, getting close enough to trip him. They caught him pushing a knife to his throat. “Where is - AH!”  Gaslight slammed against the door that led inside. Panting the Wolf Spirit was standing there. 

“You okay?” She held her hand out. The Ice King took it. 

“Yeah.” They both turned to see Gaslight arguing with someone on they’re comm. They looked up and rolled their eyes. 

“Fine.” They snarled. Gaslight looked at the two heroes. “Consider yourselves lucky.” And with that the zombie back flipped off the roof. 

“That was weird.” The Ice King remarked. Gaslight was not the one to back down from a fight.

“Agreed.” The Wolf Spirit hopped down from the roof. “I’ll try to find them again. You stay here.”

“Alright.”

Chapter 5 - In which Pix finally gets to have time with his friends

Pix sat in his house reading a book. The door busted open. He saw his two friends in the doorway. One was holding a bag of popcorn and one bag of chips, the other had his hand on the door.

“Movie night Pix!” Lyarrah said. Zloy closed the door. Pix put the book down.

“I have a better idea. The new saga comes out tonight. We could watch that.” Pix replied smiling. Zloy and Lyarrah nodded and Pix took the remote and turned on the t.v.

Chapter 6- Hermits

“I WILL BURN THIS HOUSE TO THE GROUND!” Cleo turned around the corner to see Bdubs standing on one of the chairs pointing to Scar. 

“I’m not cheating.” Scar replied, which Cleo knew was a lie.

“Good Sir Scar, if you don’t tell us you will have to forfeit.” Ren added on.

“Jokes on you all, I'm going to win.” False said laughing. Bdubs then pointed at her.

“YOU’RE CHEATING!” 

“Bdubs you can just say everyone who is beating you is cheating.” Etho reasoned. Cleo looked over at Doc who was sitting in his chair very menacingly. Then Xisuma came in.

“All right I think it’s time to put monopoly away.” He said scoping up the board into the box.

“No no I was finally winning.” False complained. Cleo laughed and put the books they were holding on the table. 

“I might have some new leads on what happened to the Cleaning Lady and Slayer.”

Comprehensive Veilguard Thoughts Part 1

SO first we're going to start with the positives while I consider how to phrase my misgivings.

Taking Veilguard as a game by itself it is fantastic. It's fun to play, the puzzles are difficult but not too difficult and while I'm not personally a huge fan of action combat the lower difficulty levels were actually almost too easy for my habitually playing on casual ass.

As someone with repetitive hand injuries and early onset arthritis the custom difficulty mode is great bc I can make all the shit I just can't do because of my shitty old grandma hands more forgiving while giving the enemies more aggression and longevity than they would otherwise have on lower difficulty modes. I actually have a chance to learn and execute the mechanics of the combat. It's probably one of the only action RPGs I can say I really, genuinely enjoy right now AND I can play for several hours without my hands locking up or needing to take a break. That alone is a really exciting feature.

It would have been hella if I could just turn off death and run everything on the most nightmarish difficulty possible but we as a society aren't ready for that yet.

It's amazing because the "game" aspects of the DA games have honestly always been kind of shit. DA games almost always come out with technology that's janky or actual decades behind their contemporaries. Narratives and characters have carried every Dragon Age game because it certainly hasn't been the combat mechanics or the visual direction. We went from that stupid fucking high ponytail with the curly cue at the end that was in every previous Dragon Age game to the beautiful one with HAIR PHYSICS that we have in Veilguard. Which brings me to the next point.

This game is beautiful. One of the early complaints I saw tossed around a lot is that Veilguard reused assets and they didn't put work into the environments and that's such bullshit. We have six visually distinct environments to travel through which is more than can be said for Inquisition where most of the maps in the same "biome" area looked so visually similar that sometimes I wondered why they even bothered to have different maps for them at all.

Dragon Age has always had such beautiful and visually distinct concept art that just never made it into the game for reasons I will never understand given how visual a medium videogames are. Veilguard is even devoid of the awkward janky bioware animations which is something not even Andromeda could claim.

The Veilguard concept art is, amazingly, what the game actually looks like! And because it's been Matt Rhodes pretty much the whole time there are indeed reused assets that make the environment actually LOOK like a piece of Thedas.

It is mechanically in every way superior to the previous games by a landslide in ways that go way beyond just the capabilities of the technology. The way upgrading works is better than every previous iteration's crafting mechanics. The levels are clearly built with an obvious progression in mind. The way exploration is rewarded encourages me to do it without feeling like a waste of time keeping me from another plotpoint. There's only a handful of encounters I went through that felt artificially harder than the obstacles around it for no real reason. One of them was really that there were so many cracks in the floor I couldn't dodge effectively and that was the only real frustrating part about the fight that couldn't be blamed on bringing the wrong elemental rock paper scissors into the ring.

The game has a clear ethos that it sticks to and expands with every new thing added. Every companion's story is relevant to that thesis statement the story is making and expands on relevant pieces of the game's plot. For the most part the faction storylines seem relevant and deliberate. You're never just running errands to gain faction points. The things they're asking you to do for them are also relevant to your interests. The Grey Wardens plotline is an especially strong one for not just this installment's ethos but as a call back to the way the story started. For the open threads of the series that did get conclusions in the game they felt satisfying.

It is an objectively good game.

A Story Changed- Bonus Content!

Anyone else use Picrew? I do! I find it really helps me out to visualize the characters I’m imagining. Whether it’s ocs or, in this case, characters in a specific story!

I sometimes do art, but my art style is very simple/cartoony and overall not very helpful for me to get a good idea of looks/designs.

That’s where Picrew comes in!

One of my favorite Picrews to use is Baydew’s avatar maker because I find the art style very appealing. 

However, I felt like some characters were just missing something. So I also took to another Picrew, Fantasy OC Creator , by Margothetwi which really helped me out!

A combination of the two different Picrews I used for each character is how I imagine them to look within A Story Changed.

Grian: Dark sandy-blond hair, has a very slight wave to it but not much. Eyes are so dark of brown they are almost black. He has red feathers that come out from behind his ears (pretend there’s ears there) and a couple of very small feathers on his face. His wings are mostly red, but at the ends have yellow and blue feathers, like a parrot. He starts off wearing a white button up under a red sweater, but after being in the desert he opts for a white shirt and red cloak. He stands at 5’6” (~168 cm)

Scar: Long! Hair! Scar! It’s dark brown and he keeps it down most of the time. His skin is tanned from living in/by the desert for so long, and he has all sorts of scars on him. He’s got beautiful green eyes, of course. And naturally, on his top half he pretty much usually only wears a cloak, if anything. He stands at 6’2” (~188 cm)

Scott: Bluish-tealish hair, kept long and in a braid. His ears are pointed, but are only about the same length as a regular human ear, as he’s a half-elf. Light blue eyes. He keeps some of Jimmy’s feathers tucked/pinned into his hair, and ever since moving he’s also often seen with flowers in it as well. He still dresses somewhat fancy, mainly in blues and white. He stands at 6’2” (~188 cm) (This was definitely inspired by Empires S1 Scott ngl-)

Jimmy: Short golden-blond hair, he lets Scott do whatever he wants with it, which often results with flowers in his hair. He has chocolatey-brown eyes. Bright yellow feathers poke from behind his ears (pretend there are ears), and there are tiny yellow feathers on his face mixed among his freckles. He has bright yellow wings, much like a canary’s. He dresses very plain. He stands at 6’1” (~185 cm)

Ren: Long, curly/wavy super dark brown hair that matches the fur in his ears. He has some light facial hair, but not much. His eyes are a dark blue and there’s a scar over the left eye (but with three lines instead of one). He also has claws on his hands and some sharp teeth much like a wolf. He has pale skin as the Black Isles don’t get much direct sunlight, often being very cloudy. As a traveler, he wears all black. But as the Red King, he dons a fur-lined red cloak as well as his golden crown. He also gains a scar across his neck. Because of fantasy and magic, he stands at 7’1” (~216 cm) (without counting the ears)

Martyn: Yes, I know, he looks like Link. Most gold-blond haired, bright blue-eyed, tanned-skinned, green-wearing elves would. But! Martyn also has a mole on his cheek. And a black headband/bandanna thing. His ears are ever so slightly longer than a typical elves’ ears would be. He also keeps it long and in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. He stands at 6’8” (~203 cm)

Etho: Long hair Etho! He keeps it in a low bun (I made it down to get the visual across) and wears his headband across his forehead. He has one grey eye and one red one (with a scar). Being a dhampir, he gains some vampire traits such as fangs, so he usually keeps that part of his face covered to not scare anyone. He tries to keep himself looking nice at all times, everything from hair to clothes. He stands at 6’2” (~188 cm)

BigB: Super coily/curly very very dark brown hair. He tends to keep it up. His eyes are also a dark brown, and he has some freckles across his face. He has light facial hair (although it’s a bit thicker/fuller than Ren’s, it’s still kinda light). He’s usually seen in a white undershirt with a dark blue vest or overshirt. He stands at 6’0” (~183 cm)

Skizz: Short spiky black hair. In a stark contrast, the feathers from behind his ears, dotted on his cheeks, and on his wings are white. He doesn’t keep very good care of his wings, as he’ll use them as an emergency shield and doesn’t preen them as often as he should. They’ve become so damaged that at most they can give him a boost while jumping, but he can’t fly with them. His eyes are a light blue. Though he has some tanned skin, there are a few patches of paler skin in a couple spots. He has a couple scars on his face, but most are on other areas of his body. He wears a white shirt and a black cloak. He stands at 5’11” (~180 cm)

Impulse: Hair and eyes are a similar shade of a chocolatey-brown. In his trickster form, which he usually keeps hidden, he has two very small black horns, pointed ears, and his eyes turn gold. He has mismatched jewelry, all technically stolen. He wears a black shirt with a yellow coat and scarf. He stands at 6’0” (~183 cm)

Tango: He has ashy-blond hair that starts to smoke or partially/totally turn to fire if his emotions get out of hand. He keeps most of it held up so it’s all in one place. He has fiery red eyes, which also during emotional moments turn fully red. His ears are pointed and he has gold flecks on his cheeks. He wears gold glasses. He stands at 5’10” (~178 cm)

Bdubs: Fluffy whitish-blond hair. His eyes are so dark brown they almost look black. He has a mole on his right cheek. He wears a white shirt and a black scarf. He stands at 5’5” (~165 cm)

Cleo: Wild, curly/wavy red/ginger hair. No matter what she does, it will not listen to her. So she wears it as a ponytail to keep it out of her face. She sticks flowers into it to make herself seem less intimidating. She has tealish-green eyes, though the skin around them shows black veins below the skin. She has all kinds of stitches on her body, mismatched threads holding together pieces of herself that’s turned various shades of green. She wears a torn dark blue dress and a dark yellow cloak. She stands at 5’7” (~170 cm)

Joel: As a shapeshifter, he can look like almost anything. His powers usually will stray and pick up some features of people/things nearby. Being with his adoptive family so long, he usually keeps this form. Dark brown hair with a short braid in the back, and a line of green that goes from the front to the back of his head. He has warm brown eyes as well as a more roundish nose. Usually wears a white shirt with a brown vest. In his true form, his hair is ever so slightly darker/wavy, the green is gone, his eyes are a similar blue to Ren’s, and he has a more pointed nose as well as some fur and claws. Either way, he stands at 5’11 (~180 cm)
