pairing . roommates! mingi x gn reader about . 3k+ words, fluff warnings . i have an unhealthy obsession with writing when i’m sleep-deprived take this as you will. i also don’t write long fics so i’m super sorry in advance. reader has a thing for mingi’s arms (who doesn’t), there is cursing involved, slight mentions of alcohol, reader calls mingi annoying and stupid a couple of times but it’s endearingly, this is not proofread yolo

synopsis . you don’t understand why your roommate is suddenly afraid of the dark, but maybe offering him space to sleep next to you wasn’t the worst idea you’ve ever had. note . wrote this for a secret santa fic and decided to post here as well! i don't really stan ateez but writing this has definitely made me some sort of mingi stan 😭 also this was inspired by this episode of curious george, not crucial to understand the fic but definitely helpful

You’re not quite sure how your roommate grew so accustomed to watching Curious George episodes every night, but it’s become a, to put simply, very distracting routine.

Returning home from work to find Mingi, part-time barista and your personal full-time teddy bear, watching a TV show wasn’t uncommon. Heck, customer service jobs were so horrible that even you would settle in front of the screen for the remainder of the day. You’d often walk in on a new Netflix series and even indulge in them with him, humming soundtracks while you both made dinner together or fall asleep cuddling to the end credits of each episode.

It was all fine until he found a Curious George playlist on YouTube with all 15 seasons, and being a nonsensically endearing child at heart, he’d made it his personal mission to cycle through all of them. Initially, it was nostalgic for you too, but after one too many times of seeing the stupid monkey and his yellow-adorned caretaker, you’d opt to crash in your banana-less bed after dinner instead.

Nights often end like this one, with you drifting into slumber and the glaring light of the TV screen peeking into your room underneath the door. Neither of you was that bothered by the change in routine anyway; you got more sleep and he got his screen time. Being roommates, understanding each other was key in your relationship, and although things were slightly different, the silent compromise was enough to keep the peace between you.

Or at least, it was enough until you hear three knocks on your bedroom door and a slight knob turn.

“Y/N? Are you awake?”

The whisper takes a while to register in your half-asleep state, and at the realization of his scared tone, you force yourself to shift into a sitting position before responding.

“Mingi? What’s wrong?”

He tiptoes into the room, turning on the light. The bright contrast from your previously dark room makes your eyes close instinctively, your pupils adjusting to Mingi’s blurry figure.

“Promise you won’t think I’m stupid?” he asks, an attentive gaze in his eyes.

The comment makes you laugh as you patted your bed, beckoning him onto the soft surface.

“You’ve been stupid to me, dumbass. Just tell me what’s wrong.”

He shuffles on the pillows, leaning in closer to whisper to you despite no one else being in the house.

“I think there are monsters in my room.”

“Okay, let me get this straight. You watched a Curious George episode about him seeing shadow monsters in his room, and now you think they’re in your room too?”

You can see the pout on his face intensify as he turns all the lights on while walking to his room. You knew the episode he was talking about, the one where the monkey started envisioning oddly shaped shadows as monsters only to later learn they were just figments of his imagination, but you didn’t think it would affect your roommate that badly.

“No! Don’t turn on the light,” he exclaims as you screw open his doorknob, despite the rest of the house being engulfed in light because of his phobia.

“Why not?” you question, watching the door creak open and stepping into the room, pulling him along with you so he won’t run away.

“Look,” he points at an oddly shaped lump, “you can’t tell me that isn’t some evil slug out to get me.”

“I’m pretty sure that’s just—”

“And over there,” he beckons to a tall, conical structure, “that is literally an evil Christmas tree. I’m 100% sure we’re about to die.”

You sigh as you flick on the lights, your suspicions being confirmed.

“Did you even think to turn on the light? These so-called ‘monsters’ are just your pile of dirty laundry that I’ve been begging you to wash and your coat rack that I still can’t comprehend being in this room and not the doorway.”

“You’re right but,” he moves to turn off the light again, “why do they look so different in the dark? They’re shapeshifting! I’m not insane Y/N, just trust me.”

At this point, you’re too mentally and physically exhausted to even care about his antics. In some other period of time, you would’ve indulged his nightmares, but right now it’s far past your bedtime and the only thing on your mind is a long, relaxing sleep.

“Fine. You can sleep in my room tonight. I don’t have stupid coat racks or dirty laundry in my room for you to be scared of, and we can turn on the little night light I still have from third grade. Got it?”

You pretend not to notice the silent cheer he lets out behind your back as you make the trek back to your part of the building, killing the lights as you go. Mingi keeps an arm on your shoulder, and you notice he keeps his gaze on the wall beside him to avoid any potential shapeshifters in the living room.

After a thorough inspection of your room, Mingi deduces that there are indeed no shadow monsters. By then you’re already half asleep, curling into the right side so his hunk of a body has room.

“You sure this is okay?” he questions, stretching his arms and yawning.

Your tired gaze glazes over the ripples of his lean muscles illuminated by your snowman night light before answering with a nod, and you grumble when he flops on the bed and steals too much of your blanket.

“C’mere,” he voices, making grabby hands, “I miss cuddling with you.”

You make the meanest face possible and flip over to the other side, turning away from his seemingly shocked face.

“Wake me up for cuddles when you stop acting like a baby and grow a pair.”

And as you drift into slumber, despite your warnings you still feel the soft weight of his arm curl around your torso, sending you into the sweetest dreams full of fantastical butterflies.

The next night, Mingi is knocking at your door again, albeit a couple of hours earlier than yesterday. He doesn’t even have to speak before you’re glaring at him, hands crossed in annoyance.

“I’m not letting you sleep here again. You stole too much of my blanket last time.”

You don’t mention to him that you had the best sleep of your life.

“That’s why I brought a blanket!” he exclaims, holding up his polka-dot fuzzy bedspread, “I also brought some popcorn so we can watch a movie on your shitty computer.”

Screw him for being thoughtful, and screw him for wearing the same brand of tank top that he did yesterday. Were his muscles always this prominent, or was it your nightlight making you see things?

“Shitty computer?” you repeat, threatening to close the door in his face.

“No! No… I think you misheard. I love your classic, old computer.”

His grin intensifies as you let him in, snapping the nightlight on and setting up the movie on your computer that is indeed shitty. The overheating of the device makes you turn away from his knowing smirk, and as the starting scenes flash across the blue light screen, you reach for the popcorn, only for him to move it out of your reach.

“Can we cuddle now at least? I meant it when I said I missed it.”

You don’t say anything in response, keeping your eyes trained on the screen, but your hand does reach over to grab a kernel, giving him the green light to wrap an arm around your shoulder. You know that if you refused, he would bring up the embarrassing fact of how you woke up curled into his arm, and you weren’t really in the mood to fight a blush on your cheeks.

“You know, I don’t understand why you’re still scared of the dark when Curious George clearly overcomes his fear at the end of the episode.”

“He does?”

You turn to look at him, confused.

“Did you not finish the episode?”

“I haven’t touched the show since the beginning of that episode. I’m scarred.”

You still believe that this is some sort of sick prank Mingi has been playing on you because there’s no way a 23-year-old man would be this frightened over a figment of his imagination. However, it means you don’t have to bear the stupid ape’s squeaky voice as you fall asleep, so you take the win.

“You know you can’t keep sleeping in my room like this. Why don’t you just clear your room so you won’t be afraid anymore?”

“I like the organized chaos.”

“Oh yeah? The organized chaos that shapeshifts into your worst nightmares?”

“So they do shapeshift! See Y/N, I’m not crazy.”

He is crazy, but the way his arm feels around your shoulder is enough to make you stay quiet as you shovel popcorn into your mouth and watch the movie blur before your eyes.

You awake to find yourself in the same position, and although your head is awkwardly and painfully resting in the crook of Mingi’s shoulder, you find that you once again have garnered a good night’s sleep.

Although you can only see the side of his face, his frame is so beautiful that you can’t help but melt into a puddle of nothingness. The sunlight peeking in from the gaps of your blinds illuminates his face in rays so perfectly, and you have the urge to brush his orange-stained hair behind his ears to gain a better view.

Mingi has always been breathtakingly beautiful. You met him a couple of years ago in college, bonding over the uncertainty of where your future would take you. Ending up together in this small yet comfortable apartment together was something you hadn’t expected, but something you’re learning not to take for granted. His silly quirks and endearing behavior are like a magnet, and it’s hard to not have feelings for someone whom you’re so domestic with every day, but you both are busy with your own lives and have never had time to properly explore those feelings.

Falling asleep in each other’s arms is the closest form of intimacy you’ve shared with him, and you’ve learned to cherish and be grateful for it.

Knowing that both of you are bound to end up with a crick in your necks if you stay in this position any longer, you slowly shake him awake, pushing away your thoughts as you feel him stir underneath your palm.

“Mingi, wake up. You’re going to kill me with your complaints if you wake up with sore limbs.”

“I like sleeping in your arms,” he grumbles, and it’s a little too obvious how your heart constrains at the words.

“I know, but I promise you’d feel much better if you slept properly on the bed. I’ll reward you with an amazing breakfast, I promise.”

The mention of food has him relaxing in your arms, and you move so that he’s sleeping normally against the pillow. The thoughts of waking up next to him and cooking breakfast for him are all very normal, but they’re so domestic that it has your early-morning mind go haywire at the implications.

You tell your brain to shut up and get off the bed to make breakfast before Mingi cusses you out.

Mingi appears in your bed the next day, the day after that, and many more days after that. At this point, your room has now become a shared room, and Mingi has become a prominent figure in your sheets. Hell, your pillows have even started to smell like him, and you don’t know whether you find it annoying or endearing.

A smaller part of your brain, one that you choose to push aside, fears that you’ve grown too attached to this routine. Sure, before Mingi’s monkey infatuation you’ve woken up next to each other on an occasional morning, arms sore from accommodating each other on the sofa, but you’ve never continuously spent nights with him in the same space regularly like this. Now that the routine has become more frequent, the atmosphere has gone from friendly to something else, and you don’t particularly know if you want to uncover it yet.

Besides, sleeping in the same bed is normal for roommates… right?

“Y/N, sleeping in the same bed with an attractive bachelor that just so happens to be your roommate is definitely not normal.”

Okay, so San agrees to disagree.

“I’m being serious,” he says, shaking you by the shoulder, “you’re going to end up catching feelings, and it’ll either end up with you heartbroken and apartment-less or you getting a new boyfriend. There is a fifty-fifty chance. Don’t risk it.”

You turn to look at Mingi across the room, dressed up in a silk shirt and slacks. His hair is styled in that annoying not-so-styled-but-still-styled manner, and it makes you want to run your fingers through it. Badly. Seeing him sleeveless in the mornings is bad enough, but seeing him cleaned up at a mutual friend’s birthday party makes you want to go feral.

“You should’ve given me that warning before he started sleeping next to me,” you mumble under your breath, but unfortunately San is perceptive, and nothing escapes his ears.

“Great. I can’t believe you already have feelings for him. You’re done for at this point. What is he even so scared of anyway that has him crying in your arms every night?”

You explain the details with a frown on your face, not wanting to mull over any possible rejection you might get from Mingi.

“Oh,” San starts.

“Oh?”

“That changes everything.”

You stare at San with a perplexed gaze, prompting him to elaborate.

“Look, Mingi is stupid, but do you really think he’s that stupid? Come on Y/N, even if he was scared of the dark, he would’ve gotten over it in three days.”

You hit him on the shoulder, causing him to yelp.

“Don’t play with me San,” you berate, watching him clutch the area you just hit, “why else would he be sleeping in my room if he wasn’t scared?”

“The same reason you started having feelings for him! Because you both enjoy waking up next to each other and being together. He likes you Y/N.”

The words drift around in your brain, and you process them for a couple of seconds before glaring at San.

“If he liked me, he would’ve told me.”

“That’s what you think. But do you really know him that well if you couldn’t even figure out the reason he’s been sleeping next to you? What if he’s just scared to tell you?”

San has a point, but you don’t want to admit it. As you watch Mingi beckon you over to try some food on the counter and likely force you to shovel down a disgusting combination of food, you and San share a mutual glance to stop talking about the topic.

However, as you walk over, you can’t help your brain from overanalyzing everything that shouldn’t be. The way he smiles too brightly at you, the way he holds your arm gently as he tugs you over, and the way he keeps you hydrated throughout the night make your head spin. Everything normal suddenly seemed different, and you didn’t know if the change was welcome or not.

Later that night, when you and Mingi return exhausted to your apartment, your brain feels more tired than ever. You’ve never been much of a thinker, but currently, your head feels worse than a hangover, and you don’t want to mull over anything drastic. Keeping your distance from the guy who supposedly has feelings for you back is harder than it seems, but you’re not in the mood to confront him right now.

However, Mingi has other plans. He sits you by the bed, helping you take off your jacket and accessories and untying your shoes. You realize that he’s picked up on your exhaustion, and you feel extremely guilty for wanting to push him away mere seconds ago. He is so charming at this very moment, and you feel nothing but enamored for the love you’ve received from him tonight and all the time you’ve spent together.

The words are flowing out of your mouth before you can even stop yourself.

“Do you like me?”

He stops mid-shoelace, looking up at you. You realize how awkward and uncomfortable of a position this is for him, but it’s too late to turn back now.

“Did it take you this long to notice?”

You feel like you’re being shoved underwater. The world hazes before your eyes, and the words are muffled as they enter your ears.

“What?”

He laughs, and the loss of your senses makes you realize how beautiful of a sound it really is.

“You’ve always called me stupid, but I think you’re the one that’s actually stupid here. I’ve liked you for a while now, silly. Why do you think I help you make dinner when I hate cooking?”

‘Oh’ is the only word floating in your head right now.

“So, the Curious George thing was fake?”

“Kind of. I was a little scared the first night, not going to lie, but after finding out how much I missed sleeping next to you, I figured I’d use it to my advantage. I’m honestly surprised you didn’t figure out or kick me out sooner.”

He sees you bury your head in your hands, too shocked to internalize anything right now.

“Hey,” he says, holding your shoulder, “you don’t need to say anything right now. I know it’s probably a lot to take in, and I know you’re probably exhausted after that party. Just sleep on it, okay? We can talk later.”

He finishes untying your laces and gets up to leave, but you pull on his shirt, stopping him in his tracks.

“Don’t go,” you whisper, “I like it when you’re here.”

He smiles so gently, so so gently that you want to stare at him forever.

“Alright, I’ll stay,” he whispers back, despite no one else being in the house, “do you want me to continue sleeping next to you?”

“Yeah,” you breathe out after a pause.

“Yeah, I’d like that.”

no but if you dont watch the nancy drew show you DONT UNDERSTAND the gravity of ace carving his initials as "A.H." like...

so. all of nancy's friends have the same names as her friends in the nancy books, with some tweaks. bess marvin became bess turani marvin. george fayne was george fan. ned nickerson is still ned nickerson but he goes by "nick" in the show. but ace? ace was an original character. without a last name. the only person in the main cast without one.

a curious choice, yes? to deliberately withhold a last name for one single character? why would they do that? hm?

we KNOW that nancy drew and the hardy boys are a big thing in the books. and making him a canonical hardy boy sounds like a good idea, right? the problem is that the rights to that IP were owned by another company, as they have a hardy boys tv show. so, the nancy drew team couldn't, legally, call ace joe/frank hardy.

BUT. they did little things throughout the series to hint at it. not only did they constantly tease ace's last name (by having characters ask what it was, or have his work badge leave it off entirely). but they also (spoilers) gave ace a brother (who's name is grant. ace/joe grant/frank? walk with me here). his dad was a police detective, his mom was a librarian (just like the hardy boys' parents). he was an eagle scout, and i believe joe hardy was a boy scout.

so then. to have the characters all carve their names under a table and have ace writing his initials as "A.H."

it's just!! it's so!!!!! it makes me scream eternally.

they couldn't legally make him a hardy boy bc of stupid IP laws. but that's who he was. to us! to nancy! he was always her hardy boy. always. forever.

Uhura hate vs Concerned fans? Who is really winning?

In response to SNW Uhura hate, I will like to address this objectively and logically.

1. Admitting it is wrong to hate or bully ceelia gooding.

2. Also saying she is miscast in the role of Uhura.

I do not condone any hate or racism to any actor. Nonetheless I do believe some actor are not right for a part or sometimes actors are miscast deliberately for a part to push an agenda.

The very first time I saw the promo for snw, I was shocked at the Uhura photos as I could not truly tell if that was meant to be a boy or a girl. having to now accept that, this is meant to be a young Nyota felt too far-fetched.

We should not condone hate. However fans also need space to express genuine concerns. I do NOT believe that the majority of people that say Ceelia Gooding is miscast hate her. they don’t just think she is right for the role and I agree.

SNW will never have cast a Danny DeVito or a Jason Alexander actor in the role as Spock. They also would never have cast a Rosie O'Donnell as T-Pring or Chapel or Una. I love all these actors but they will be 100% wrong for some trek roles. This is the same with Ceelia Gooding as Uhura, an actress who may also be undergoing gender hormone therapy as a non-binary actor. It makes sense that Uhura looks very androgynous on the show, she is played by a non binary actor.

Sometimes even with racism, some actors still fit the part that could not be denied. Look at Halle Bailey, despite not been white she was still a perfect casting of Ariel in the little mermaid. This is not the case with Ceelia Gooding. There is nothing about her that is similar to TOS Uhura or what made Uhura Iconic.

Alright friend, you caught me on a day when I've got some extra time and spoons so I'm gonna try and engage with your message under the assumption of good faith (but to be clear, with all due respect, framing your message as "objective" and "logical" is giving big dogwhistle energy...)

Quick piece of context setting, I'm mostly familiar with Star Trek media through social osmosis and not personally watching the movies or tv shows, but I would say I'm familiar enough for a general conversation. I also did about 30min of additional research to double check my info but if I get some details wrong, that's why.

For anyone unfamiliar, Strange New Worlds (SNW) is a prequel to the original series of Star Trek (TOS) so they feature a handful of the same characters.

Now, you say there is "nothing about [Celia Gooding] that is similar to TOS Uhura or what made Uhura iconic." I think there's plenty about Gooding that is similar to Nichelle Nichols/TOS Uhura. They are both black, they are both relatively femme presenting, neither is visibly physically disabled, and they are pretty close to the same height (5ft5in vs 5ft8in). So then are you upset that SNW Uhura wears her hair short? Or are you upset that she wears pants and a tunic style jacket as her standard costume rather than sheer tights and a dress that barely covers her butt?

As an aside, "iconic" is a wholly subjective category but I don't disagree that Uhura is an iconic character. That being said, since you point out that quality, if you're up for sharing, I'm curious what you think made TOS Uhura iconic that is so different with SNW Uhura.

To quickly address your counter example, sure, if Danny Devito were cast in a prequel role to Leonard Nimoy's Mister Spock, that would strain credulity. But let me ask you this -- do you *really* see the same level of difference between the visual presentation of Danny Devito vs Leonard Nimoy and Celia Gooding vs Nichelle Nichols? Really? Let me grab a few pictures just to be sure we're all seeing the same people...

Look.......... the only specific/clear(ish) objections you've raised about Gooding getting cast in this role are about her appearance. As I have hopefully sufficiently demonstrated, I think those concerns are unfounded. If you have issues with the narrative/plot/character development for SNW Uhura, your problem should be with the writers and not with Celia.

If you're up for a little self reflection, try and get more specific about what bothers you so much about the situation. Connecting some dots here, you said SNW Uhura is too different from TOS Uhura to be acceptable to you, but you did not raise the same concerns about Ethan Peck as SNW Spock, even though he's also different from Leonard Nimoy as TOS Spock. What's the difference in the differences that makes one of these fine and one of these not?

Top 15 Animated Disney TV Villains

October’s still going, and I’ve already talked about Disney Villains a few times. I covered my favorite portrayals of one of their greatest members, Cruella De Vil, and I also talked about various Disney Villain Songs - first from the movies, and then from other avenues. It was in the process of exploring said “other avenues” that I realized I should probably give some attention to a more underappreciated group of Disney baddies: the ones from their TV programs. We all love characters like the Evil Queen, Chernabog, and Dr. Facilier, but Disney’s television output has created some pretty iconic villains in its own right, many on par with (and sometimes even better than) their film characters. Whether they be from shows spun-off of pre-existing properties, or totally original pieces, the villains of Disney’s TV cartoons are often just as recognizable as the movie characters, with just as much fan appreciation. Yet, despite this, they don’t get as much merchandising, nor as much attention at the Parks: you’re not likely to see characters like Mozenrath or Xanatos lined up alongside Maleficent or Jafar. Well, I think it’s time to give these dastardly adversaries some time in the spotlight. A BIG, FAT WARNING THOUGH: there are actually quite a lot of Disney shows I haven’t seen (and probably will not see anytime soon), particularly more modern ones from the past ten years or so. As a result, there are some popular villains and shows you WON’T see referenced on this list: if you’re expecting to see entries from Gravity Falls, The Owl House, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, or Wander Over Yonder - all of which I know are pretty popular - you’re going to be disappointed. (The only reason I’m including Bill Cipher as a “banner entry” here is because I’m pretty sure if I didn’t reference him at all, someone would try to assassinate me.) Most of these characters come from series produced in the 80s, the 90s, and the 2000s, with a few entries from the 2010s. This is because those are the shows I know best and/or grew up with. While some of these series I haven’t revisited in their entirety in a long time, I HAVE returned to ALL of them, to some degree or another, at some point when making this countdown.

Two quick rules to note: firstly, I won’t be including villains who originated in films, under any circumstances. So characters like Emperor Zurg, Hades, Yzma, and so on - who were all major antagonists in their movies’ respective spin-off series - will be ignored. They get plenty of attention as is, frankly. Secondly, I’m only going to include one villain per show…minus two exceptions. Why I made those two exceptions will be explained when they pop up. With that said, for those of you who are still sticking around and curious to see what series and what characters WILL make the list…sit down, grab some snacks, and ready your remote controls. These are My Top 15 Disney Animated TV Villains!

15. The Birthday Bandit, from Teamo Supremo.

Some of you may recall I brought this guy up on an earlier list. Of all the shows on this list, I’d argue that Teamo Supremo is one of the most forgotten. It’s not a series that has a significantly large fanbase, as far as I can tell; lots of people I know have never even heard of it. The series was meant to be a tribute to the works of Jay Ward, the creator of such classics as Dudley Do-Right, Rocky & Bullwinkle, and George of the Jungle. The plot focused on the adventures of three kid superheroes - the titular Teamo Supremo - as they faced a variety of campy, colorful super-criminals. My favorite of these supervillains is, and always was, the Birthday Bandit. The Bandit was once a humble children’s entertainer known as B.B. the Clown. However, frustrated with his work, and forever bitter about the fact he never got to properly celebrate his own birthdays as a child, B.B. becomes the evil Birthday Bandit: the lord high ruiner of all holidays and special occasions. (Birthdays, obviously, are his specialty, but he also attacked Valentine’s Day in one episode.) Basically, combine the Grinch with the Joker, and you’ll get this character…which is actually a more apt description than you might think. One of the main reasons the Bandit is and was my favorite villain is his voice actor: none other than the King of All Jokers, Mark Hamill. I guess the guy just has a very specific type.

14. Lord Duke Scrapperton, from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce GO!

I am convinced that this show had to have been at least semi-inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, solely based on the fact that both of these superhero franchises have titles that are so absolutely bizarre and long that you’d think they were thought up by deranged drug addicts. Regardless, this series was a pretty interesting departure for the Disney Channel. Created for the “Jetix” line of shows at the time, which tried to be more “cool” than the rest, this anime-influenced series was yet another superhero adventure show. (Get used to that, by the way, there’s a few more of those to come.) This time, the story focused on a young boy named Chiro, who joins forces with a team of five robotic monkeys (as you do) to stop the machinations of the evil Skeleton King. (Incidentally, the Skeleton King was voiced by the Birthday Bandit himself, Mark Hamill…who also appears in the Honorable Mentions…I’m sensing a pattern here.) While the King was a great main antagonist, my favorite villain was actually the less prominent - but no less memorable - Lord Duke Scrapperton. Initially voiced by Eric Idle (he would later be replaced by Jeff Bennett), Scrapperton is a steampunk cyborg who has replaced nearly his entire body with clockwork technology, and is continually seeking to upgrade himself further. He is also an avid collector, gathering everything from action figures…to living beings. At first, Scrappterton seems eccentric, but rather friendly; however, as his debut episode goes on, a darker, more twisted side to his nature is revealed. The character would reappear a couple more times throughout the series, still seeking upgrades and new things to gather for his boundless collection. Frankly, it’s hard to go wrong with a posh cyborg villain voiced by a member of Monty Python.

13. The Saurians, from Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series.

I don’t know what madman decided to turn the hockey sports film “The Mighty Ducks” into a superhero/sci-fi series about anthropomorphic mallards, living in a hockey-obsessed universe, and fighting reptilian warlords from space. Whoever it was, somebody give them a raise for abstract creativity. In truth, this series as a whole wasn’t necessarily one of Disney’s best, in my opinion, but I also wouldn’t say it was all that bad. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly its villains, the Saurians. This is the first of the two exceptions I mentioned before, as I’m counting the whole main team of villains from this show. The leader of the Saurians was the devilish Lord Dragaunus: a fire-breathing fiend who plans to - what else? - conquer the universe. His second in command was an evil wizard called Wraith, who I can only describe as a combination of Skeletor and the Horned King. Next is Siege, a beefy bruiser and weapons expert, followed finally by Chameleon, a wisecracking, shapeshifting little hobgoblin. Fairly standard characters for a show like this, so what makes them so particularly special? Answer: their voice actors. In the order listed, these four characters were played by Tim Curry, Tony Jay, Clancy Brown, and Frank Welker. For those who aren’t keeping track, now going in reverse order, that means every time these four were onscreen together, you had Megatron, Lex Luthor, Frollo, and…well…TIM CURRY all bouncing off one another and sharing dialogue. I almost don’t care about the quality of the series after that point; anyone smart enough to put these four guys in a room together, in any shape or form, is doing something right!

12. Lady Waltham, from The Legend of Tarzan.

Sometimes a TV Villain can be not only as good, but honestly BETTER than a film counterpart. Lady Waltham is such a case, which is especially interesting because she’s an outlier on this list in one important way: all the other villains on this countdown are recurring antagonists. How often they appear varies from program to program, of course. (Scrapperton only gets three appearances in his respective show, while the Saurians are in nearly every episode of theirs.) Lady Waltham, however, is a oneshot character: she only appears in a single episode. But, man, what an episode! The story is entitled “Gauntlet of Vengeance.” In the episode, Tarzan and his allies first meet Lady Waltham as a rather strict but seemingly decent Englishwoman on safari. This, however, is a false facade to help her get close to them all, as she enacts an elaborate scheme against them: she puts all of Tarzan’s closest companions into cunning death traps, then uses a poisoned dart on Tarzan himself. The antidote to the poison is located on a mountain peak; if Tarzan is quick enough, he can cure himself before the poison runs its full course…but doing so will lead to the death of all his friends and family. He won’t have time to do both. Why is Waltham doing this? That’s where things get especially interesting: it’s revealed that Waltham is the younger sister of Clayton, the villain of the original movie. She blames Tarzan for her brother’s death, and seemingly knows nothing of Clayton’s villainous ways. It’s all for revenge: Tarzan will either die like her brother, or see all of his loved ones perish. Many people seem to consider this to be the best episode of the show, as well as one of the darkest, and I am in full agreement. There were many other villains in the series, including several recurring foes, but for me, Waltham stood out as the single best of the bunch. Her arc in the story is interesting, and she actually proves to be a more complex and compelling antagonist than her late brother, all with less screentime. She may not have shown up a lot, but she’s still more than deserving of placement in these ranks.

11. Shego, from Kim Possible.

Okay, so, I have a confession to make: I’m not a huge fan of Kim Possible. Not because I think the show is bad - quite the reverse - but because I didn’t actually watch much of it when growing up. I think this was because, as a little boy, I had this dumb and silly idea in my head that “girl protagonist = girly show.” Naturally, this was an idiotic viewpoint to have, and in revisiting the show, it’s easy to see why it had and still has a lot of respect, and why the title character was so popular. While the main villain of the series was the diabolical (and delightfully doofy) Dr. Drakken, even as a kid (again, with little interest in the program) I think the villain who seemed the most interesting to me was this gal: Drakken’s henchgirl, Shego. Shego is one of those classic villains who is essentially an “anti” version of the main character. She looks a little bit like Kim, and like Kim she’s a strong, independent-thinking, sassy young woman with many skills and talents. However, while Kim is a heroine, Shego is a villainess: while she has her own strange code of honor, she genuinely enjoys being bad, and often seems much more competent than Drakken or a lot of the other villains in the show. In revisiting some of the series, I found her much more fascinating than Drakken, providing a great “dark mirror” to Kim while still feeling uniquely like her own character. The only reason - and I do think it’s the ONLY reason - she doesn’t make it into the Top 10 is simply that I’m not the series’ biggest fan. To those who would rank her higher, I can hardly blame you: she’s magnificent.

10. NOS-4-A2, from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

Buzz Lightyear vs. Dracula. Not a combination I expected to see, but also not one I’m upset about. In this comedic cartoon series - spun-off of Pixar’s “Toy Story” movies, but set in its own unique continuity (the conceit is this is the show that inspired the toy line in the films) - everyone’s favorite Space Ranger has many foes to face. From bounty hunters to evil overlords, there are plenty of ghastly ghouls haunting the galaxy. None, however, are quite as ghoulish as NOS-4-A2. The result of an experiment by Lightyear’s arch-nemesis, Emperor Zurg, NOS-4-A2 was intended to be a weapon used against Star Command for Zurg’s evil plans. However, the robotic monster ultimately went rogue and became a particularly nasty baddy in his own right, with his own schemes of domination and destruction. NOS-4-A2 is an “energy vampire”: instead of drinking blood, the monster primarily feeds on electrical energy. While he primarily targets fellow robots, he can and will also attack more traditional living beings, such as humans, when necessary. Inspired by Bram Stoker’s famed Transylvanian Count, NOS-4-A2 has many of the same abilities: he can brainwash people and machines into becoming his mind-warped servants, turn fellow robots into vampires, fly with his bat-like wings, and is also able to turn non-machines he bites into “Wirewolves.” The character was played by Craig Ferguson, of all people, and was one of the few villains on the series who actually felt pretty threatening, as well as being very funny. The stories he appeared in always felt a little bit darker and more dangerous, and had a delightfully Gothic, spooky tone to them, which made him all the more memorable.

9. Abis Mal & Mechanicles, from Aladdin.

This is the other exception I mentioned, along with the Saurians, where I’m including multiple villains from the same show in the same ranking. In this case, however, it’s for different reasons. “Aladdin” was one of my favorite Disney TV shows growing up. The series takes place between the events of “Return of Jafar” and “King of Thieves” (which were, themselves, basically the first and final episodes of the show; otherwise Abis Mal wouldn’t count here). It covered the adventures Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, and the rest had before the princess and the “street rat” were finally married. Throughout the series, the team faced many adversaries: the necromancer Mozenrath, the evil elemental Mirage, the draconic Malcho, and the God of Chaos himself were all just a few of the more noteworthy enemies Aladdin and his friends had to outwit. However, the two most prominent villains in the series - the “Joker and Penguin” of the Aladdin universe, if you will - were these two. Abis Mal is a bungling thief, voiced by the incomparable Jason Alexander. He first appeared in “Return of Jafar” and continued to be a recurring foe throughout the series. Mechanicles, meanwhile, is a mad scientist, with an Ancient Greek aesthetic, who creates robotic bugs to do his bidding. Both of them were VERY funny villains, and it’s honestly hard for me to say which one I liked more. Abis Mal I think is less threatening and unique than Mechanicles (although I’d hardly call Mechanicles the most menacing of Aladdin’s villains, either), but it’s kind of hard to beat Jason Alexander’s comedic vocal chops in the role. This, combined with the fact he DID appear alongside Jafar in the aforementioned feature probably helps him a lot. Ultimately, I decided to just lump them both together here. Good job to both these bad guys!

8. Don Karnage, from TaleSpin.

“TaleSpin” was one of the weirder Disney shows, just by its concept: it took some of the characters from “The Jungle Book” and reimagined them in a more contemporary universe inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. (Sort of a Rudyard Kipling version of Zootopia.) While the nominal main antagonist of “TaleSpin” was Shere Khan, he doesn’t really count for this list. However, I would argue this guy was really much more the main villain than the infamous tiger, and he DEFINITELY counts. Don Karnage was the flamboyant, bizarrely-accented leader of a band of Air Pirates, who were constant thorns in the sides of Baloo and the other protagonists. Karnage is a vain and EXTREMELY melodramatic pirate, whose ego and bad temper have a tendency of mucking up his plans. He’s actually not really stupid, especially not when compared to the other pirates on his crew, but the combo of his bungling henchmen and his emotions getting the better of him always leads to him being foiled in the end. The character was voiced by Jim Cummings, and this is worth noting because Cummings was actually the talent behind a LOT of Disney’s greatest TV baddies: no less than three of the characters on this countdown were all voiced by him, starting with Karnage. Of the three in question, Karnage is by far the silliest, but he’s more than worthy of commendation: heck, he got to duel Captain Hook, I think that’s worth pointing out on its own terms! (Yes, that really happened, look it up.) The character was recently reimagined in the 2017 reboot of “DuckTales.” There he’s voiced by Jaime Camil. That version was fun, but I think that I’ll always prefer the original rendition of the character, for several reasons. Still, you can count this slot for both, if you like.

7. Dr. Doofenshmirtz, from Phineas & Ferb.

One of the (somewhat) more recent shows to make this list, “Phineas & Ferb” was a rather absurd TV series that focused on essentially two different plotlines, each episode, which would inevitably collide in some humorous fashion in every story. One plotline focused on the titular characters: a pair of brothers who were determined to do literally everything, while their nagging sister, Candace, tried to get them in trouble at every opportunity. At the same time, there would be another story going on involving the family’s pet platypus, Perry. (I’m not questioning it, why should you?) It’s revealed that Perry the Platypus is actually a secret agent in the James-Bond-ian style, who is constantly working to keep the Tri-State Area safe from the machinations of our next contender: the diabolical Dr. Doofenshmirtz. This guy…is an absolute riot. He is HILARIOUS, on so many levels. Even in stories where he does really, REALLY horrible things, like succeeding in taking over the world or whatever, he’s somehow just so lovably insane and…well…just plain WEIRD that it’s hard not to enjoy him. His relationship with Perry is a lot of fun; the series treats the idea of being nemeses almost like a romance at points, which makes the irony all the more hilarious when they’re constantly working to destroy one another. (Think Joker and Batsy in The LEGO Batman Movie, and you’ll get some idea of what I mean.) He’s also a genuinely loving father, with his daughter, Vanessa, occasionally acting as his (somewhat begrudging) henchgirl. With his wild assortment of “-inator” devices, and plots that ranged from Jekyll-&-Hyde parodies to…um…trying to ruin pelicans (“Terrible creatures! What are you, a bird or a garbage disposal?!”), you could always count on this deranged inventor to have something wickedly silly up his sleeve.

6. Fat Cat, from Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers.

I trust that many of you reading this are familiar with “The Great Mouse Detective.” If so, you will naturally recall two of the main villains from that movie: Professor Ratigan - a wily and theatrical criminal mastermind - and his giant pet cat, the spoiled and gluttonous Felicia. Imagine if you took those two characters, put them in a blender, stuck the result in a more contemporary setting, and then had a pair of chipmunks fight the Frankensteinian construct you’ve created. This character is pretty much EXACTLY that. Fat Cat - voiced once more by Jim Cummings - is the leader of a gang of underworld hoodlums, and the arch-nemesis of the titular Rescue Rangers. He lives up to his name both literally and figuratively: not only is his corpulence pronounced, but he is greedy, arrogant, and has a very sophisticated air to him. He’s a pretty straightforward kind of bad guy: reveling in his own devious deeds, and caring nothing for the lives of most other people (or animals), so long as he gets what he wants. And, as you can guess from the image I’ve chosen, he’s rather fond of good old-fashioned death traps, naturally followed by some villainous monologuing. Because it’s just no fun murdering fools unless you have time to gloat and let them stew in their own morbid dread. There’s really not much more to say about this character, he’s just a very fun feline felon. I was honestly REALLY disappointed that he had virtually nothing to do in the “Rescue Rangers” film that came out a couple years ago…but that’s another story for another time.

5. Janja, from The Lion Guard.

This series was a (supposedly canon? It’s kind of hard to tell) spin-off of “The Lion King,” which took place before, after, and even during the events of the sequel film, “Simba’s Pride.” Instead of following Simba’s daughter, Kiara, however, the show focused on the exploits of Simba’s son, Kion: the leader of a group of animals destined to protect the Pride Lands, the titular Lion Guard. Despite airing on Disney Junior, the show had a noticeably darker and more risky tone than many other series that were and are on that block. The Guard faced many adversaries, but arguably the most noteworthy was Janja. This rascally hyena is special partially because he was the main antagonist of the entire first season, and remained a major villain well into the second season…but also partially because he’s one of the few villains on this countdown who goes through a redemption arc. While it isn’t entirely uncommon for villains featured on this countdown to occasionally work with the heroes when their goals align (Shego, Magica, and Doofenshmirtz are notable examples), only three antagonists featured here actually reformed and became good characters. Janja is one of them, which was particularly interesting since, for much of the time before, he was treated as basically Kion’s arch-nemesis. Seeing the character we’d come to know not only as a villain, but as the chiefest rival to our main hero, turn over a new leaf was something rather novel; it would be like if the Joker suddenly turned over a new leaf and became friends with Batman, you just wouldn’t really expect it. However, for all Janja’s faults, he had been shown to have his own set of vulnerabilities, and this allowed him a rather natural shift in a rather short amount of time. Even after becoming a good guy, however, he still had his rough sides, which - while mostly treated for laughs - were still cool to notice. Funny, fiendish, and utterly fascinating, Janja is more than deserving of a spot in my Top 5.

4. Magica DeSpell, from DuckTales. (Both Versions.)

Unlike Don Karnage, where I can definitely say I prefer the original to the revamp, I’m actually not really sure which version of Magica DeSpell I prefer between these two. I did deliberate on whether I should even count Magica, since she technically got her start in Disney comics long before appearing in DuckTales. However, a.) that really counts for a LOT of the villains in the series, so that wouldn’t leave a lot of options left for who COULD make the cut, and b.) I think DuckTales is where MOST people would know Magica from, regardless, so…eh. I think it’s fair. Magica is a wicked witch who acts as one of the main villains in both versions of the series. In the original, she was a somewhat bungling mage who wished to steal Scrooge McDuck’s Number One Dime. Her reasoning is that she believes Scrooge’s famous “lucky charm” could give her greater power and wealth. However, on more than one occasion, her attempts to steal the special little coin would lead to disaster not only for the heroes, but for Magica as well. In the 2017 reboot, Magica was reimagined as a slightly darker villain: an ancient sorceress whose spirit was trapped in Scrooge’s Number One Dime. Via the standard elaborate scheming, she is eventually freed from her prison, plotting revenge and conquest…only to have much of her power stripped from her by arc’s end. She would then return several more times, trying to regain her full power and get back at Scrooge and his family. The original Magica was voiced by the great June Foray; in the reboot, she was played by Catherine Tate. (This was probably due to Tate’s fame as a Companion of David Tennant’s in Doctor Who; Tennant played Scrooge McDuck.) I really enjoy both versions of the character, so I decided to just give this credit to each interpretation together.

3. Negaduck, from Darkwing Duck.

Not all arch-enemies are quite as easy to turn as Janja. Case in point, Negaduck: the arch-nemesis of the titular superhero from the cartoon action-adventure series “Darkwing Duck.” Negaduck is the classic “evil twin” kind of supervillain: a blatant dark mirror to the hero who not only looks a lot like them, but even has a lot of similar personality traits. Darkwing, while ultimately the heroic protagonist, is far from the most saintly of crimefighters: he’s arrogant, selfish, childish, bad-tempered, and occasionally just plain rude. Negaduck is exactly the same way. However, what separates the pair is that, at the end of the day, Darkwing will still make the right choices to do what’s good, and does have a heart underneath it all. Negaduck does not: he is pure evil, plain and simple. He is sadistic, brutal, and downright cruel to a genuinely unsettling degree at times, despite the show’s comedic tone, and he doesn’t care who knows it. He’s obsessed with all kinds of things that deal death and destruction, from guns, to knives, to chainsaws, to explosives, and he rules over the gang of supervillains called The Fearsome Five with an iron fist. Also, unlike Darkwing, who occasionally comes across as a bit of a dimwit, Negaduck is actually VERY intelligent; as cunning as he is diabolical, which makes him even more of a threat. While the show’s campy tone kept him from ever being TOO scary, they got away with a lot in making this malicious mallard a pretty intense threat at times, while also still making him suitably silly when needs be. Just like Don Karnage, the character would make a comeback in the 2017 reboot of “DuckTales”...but we really didn’t get very much of him, so I don’t think there’s a ton for me to say there, especially without giving away some major spoilers. Still, the original is one of Disney’s most classic TV monsters, and more than deserving of placement in the Top 3.

2. Demona, from Gargoyles.

Until sometime within the past few years, Demona was top of the heap for this countdown. There’s a good reason for this. “Gargoyles” was essentially Disney’s answer to shows like FOX’s “X-Men” and Warner Bros. “Batman: The Animated Series.” Seeing how those two shows - superhero programs with a darker edge - were doing in ratings and popularity, Disney decided to create its own show in the same vein, but with its own unique and original approach, rather than basing it on a pre-existing comic series. The result was “Gargoyles,” which combined dark fantasy with superhero action, and told the story of a team of flying creatures sworn to protect humanity from all manner of threats. From mad scientists to immortal warriors to ancient Gods, the Gargoyles fought many foes. However, there were two that stood out among all the rest: one of them was Xanatos, an evil businessman who was sort of the Lex Luthor of the series. And while Xanatos is a really, REALLY freaking awesome villain in his own right…my favorite was, is, and probably always will be this lady, Demona. This rogue Gargoyle woman is kind of what you would get if you crossed both Magneto and Mystique from “X-Men” together: a sort of Gargoyle supremacist who, scarred by past traumas and betrayals, wished to destroy all of mankind, and would stop at nothing to achieve this goal. Demona was a great example of a sympathetic villain: she and the main protagonist, Goliath, had some touching history together, and you knew that her dastardly deeds came from a place of pain. At the same time, however, you couldn’t trust her as far as you could throw her…and even for Goliath, that probably wasn’t very far. Equal parts barbaric and yet extremely crafty, she is and was just as iconic to me as any supervillain from Marvel or DC, and I was always excited to see her show up. Yet she’s still not my number one…so, who is?

1. Varian, from Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.

I could literally write an entire post JUST about this character, and maybe someday I will. For now, I will try to keep things relatively succinct. “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure” (nee “Tangled: The Series”) was a sequel/spinoff to the film “Tangled.” And, honestly? I think the show is better than the movie, and a big part of it comes from its cast. ESPECIALLY Varian. Part of this is because of his performer, as he is voiced by the remarkable Jeremy Jordan. (That’s Lucifer to you “Hazbin Hotel” fans; Winn from “Supergirl” to you superhero fans; Light Yagami in the musical version of “Death Note” for you anime fans; and a LOT of things for you Broadway fans.) He’s not the only reason to love the character, however. Varian starts off the series as a recurring ally to Rapunzel. However, halfway through Season 1, various circumstances and events lead to this kid becoming the first major villain of the show, ultimately enacting a grand scheme of vengeance in the final couple episodes of the season. This was actually the end of Varian as a villain, proper…but not the end of Varian himself. Much like Janja, the character would later receive a redemption arc at the start of Season 3, and from that point on, Varian became one of the main characters of the series. While he was again a protagonist, his villainous past never really left him alone; there were lots of indications of his dark side, and he had to struggle with both forgiving himself and earning the forgiveness of others. Even if he wasn’t a villain anymore, that villainous side to him remained a major part of who he was. The character was extremely popular with audiences; so popular, in fact, a spin-off series with Varian as the main hero WAS planned, but ultimately canceled. While Varian’s redemption and change to heroism is interesting and admirable, I absolutely ADORED him as a villain, as well, and I kind of wish we saw more of that side of him than we got. I guess some could argue that, since he DID redeem himself, and also didn’t start out as the bad guy, MAYBE he shouldn’t count as highly…but the fact I just love this character so much, in general, eventually won over my decision. I can understand, however, if others would place characters like Negaduck, Magica, or Demona higher. It wasn’t really an easy choice to make, but for these reasons and many more, Varian is My Favorite Disney Animated TV Villain.

The worst (and most incendiary) of them is likely the "Looper" one, with claims things such as: Unlike Eskel's (Basil Eidenbenz) character, who had fans fuming during "The Witcher" Season 2, there is no point in introducing Radovid if we're not going to follow his villainous origin story. This is the man behind hateful anti-magic rhetoric that propels this universe to fight for magic users' safety.

Although the "Dual Shockers" one, starting with "Imagine if the cunning but despicable Cersei Lannister was made out to be a harmless love interest in HBO's adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones – the fans would riot – and something similar is happening in Netflix’s The Witcher" isn't bad, either, by making it sound like Sapkowski devoted as much ink to buidling up his villain as R.R. Martin did building up Cersei! And that both share a similar presence and importance in their respective books series.

Am I too optimistic hoping this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Because, while the moderators (bureaucrats, administrators, specialists...) haven't been trying to necessarily imply that I was wrong with my edits (ex: adding a footnote specifying that Ciri was not officially engaged to Radovid in canon), there's been a lot of:

"This [picture making a compilation of everything Sapkowski wrote] isn't needed/we just cite books and page numbers."

"We generally don't put markers into the intros."

"The intro paragraphs generally will ref across lore particularly from well established chars but the first parts of his bio are from the books and the dynasty site."

"We don't really include a lot of quotes unless it's important."

Guys, I can fully acknowledge that this is how things have always been done.

But the way things have always been done is currently contributing to the spread of misinformation about the content of the source material, and making things very unpleasant for fans of the books and the TV show.

So, maybe we need to do things differently?

The dynasty site is not an issue itself because all of that extra information came from Andrzej Sapkowski himself.

An article stating "in the books, Radovid has two sisters" is technically talking about things that aren't directly stated in the books, true; but that are still featured in the extra information that was released to the public about those books by the author.

One would thus reasonably expect that such information be included in the introduction of the character on the Wiki, as it belongs to the same lore and the same universe as the books, and fully reflects the author's intent.

The videogames don't. They aren't a companion piece to Sapkowski's books. They simply use Sapdkowski's universe as a skeleton, upon which they built more material.

Having made sure to avoid contradicting (or not contradicting too much) what has already been written by the author in the books does not give you any license to appropriate his work, and then claim that what you've written exists in the same universe / belongs to the same lore as those books!!!

Especially when the author himself has already made his opinion very clear that the videogames can't be considered as being a prequel, sequel, or complement to his work.

And has had his own share of issues with the way the videogames rose to the level of popularity it has.

Full disclosure, the first time I heard about the books, I genuinely thought that Andrzej Sapkowki was the equivalent of David Gaider in North America (one of the lead writers for Bioware). I thought he'd written original material for the games and various books based on those characters, the same way David Gaider had written material for the "Dragon Age" videogames and extra books based on the videogame lore that he'd helped build and establish.

But Sapkowki's books were never written with videogames or TV shows in mind.

I'm a gamer. So, unlike Sapkowski, I do love when stories are told across a bunch of different mediums. I loved learning more about the relationship between Maric Theirin (Alistair's father) and Loghain Mac Tir in Gaider's book "The Stolen Throne".

But David Gaider is a writer that will collaborate with a whole team of writers to create characters and stories that populate that world across a variety of mediums.

It is normal and respectful for the Dragon Age wiki to integrate everything found in the books and the games together in the introduction the way they do on that page, as it is all part of the same world!

But not when they aren't.

I can fully understand that Sapkowski isn't a fan of that approach. I may not share his opinions about it making no sense and being idiotic, obviously; but I can understand and appreciate that he doesn't see any appeal to it, and has no desire or interest to participate in that kind of global world building.

And I especially don't think there's anything wrong with him wanting each adaptation of his work to be considered their very bown thing, rather than be all part the same lore / universe.

He's allowing other people to give him money to use characters and worlds he's built virtually any way they'd like, and enjoy themselves!

The least we could do should be to respect that "The Witcher" 's videogames and "The Witcher" 's books aren't tightly woven together the same way "Dragon Age" 's videogames and "Dragon Age" 's books are, and have it being reflected in the Wikipedia.

Or, at least, reflected enough that it doesn't end up generating such confusion that the actual content of Sapkowski's books series get substituted with CD Projekt Red's writings on entertainment websites articles, for frak's sake!

By the way, thanks @fishesfisher for having reminded me that there's literally no reason why one adaptation should be sharing the same page as the books, other than trying to pretend that they are both part of the same universe.

Not sure I'd be able to win that argument (about putting three different tabs rather than a single one: one for the books, one for the games, and one for the Netflix show), but I sure hope they (the mods, admins, specialists, etc.) should care enough that the situation is completely going against Sapkowski's wishes that his books and the videogames be considered as two different stories being told by different writers rather than part of a single universe; as well as causing needless harm to the fans of the books and the TV show.

And that they'll be willing to discuss potential ways we could use to fix this in order to allow the source material and its adaptations to coexist more respectfully on the main page, and avoid such confusion.

If they don't... Is there any way to ask for a divorce from the general wikipedia of the Witcher?

I mean the videogame also has its very own additional gaming wikipedia , on top of the one that was created for the books and its adaptations.

Can we create a "Books only Wikipedia" and a "Netflix only Wikipedia"?

Like seriously. Why should the game need its own wikipedia if they're going to be front and center on "The Witcher" 's general wiki anyway, and they don't give a damn about what Sapkowski wants?

I'd rather have each member of my Witcher family live in separate homes and go visit each one individually, than watch them constantly fighting each other and ignoring each other's needs!

If divorce is the only way to ensure that the books get accurate representation, and the media stops being confused about what goes where, sign me the fuck up!

Well, after I see if there's any opening in fixing things first. I mean, maybe they just don't know that Sapkowski doesn't consider the games as belonging to the same lore/universe as the books...

Like I said, this could actually be the start of a beautiful friendship!

Last book I read: Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions

Confessions... not going to go into it in this post. It's a wild ride for sure. But if you're interested in mental health (issues) in the 1700s, it's a fairly interesting source material.

Book I recommend:

I've recently finished Carlo Ginzuburg's Cheese and Worms. It's an absolute classic! It's also a fairly quick read. I'd recommend it to anyone who's curious to see how modern historical research doesn't have to just be about famous kings or medieval battles (or if you want to read about an unhinged oddly progressive 16th century Italian miller. Menocchio is the best and I adore him!)

Book I couldn't put down:

That usually happens with murder mysteries, since I want to keep reading until I find out what happened. One of them is Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose (also a classic, and definitely an interesting spin on the genre),

the other is Stuart Turton's The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Nothing to do with history but it's so unique and so good! The best way I can describe it is that reading it feels like playing a video game, in the best way possible. It also opens up some interesting philosophical questions at the end. I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to convince my friends to read it for a year now 🙃

Book I've read twice:

I've read a lot of books multiple times for my final high school exams, but the two I know I've read twice for reasons unrelated are Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange (I rant about it any time I get a book ask, so I'll refrain from it here) and George Orwell's 1984 (I was obsessed with it in my early teens for some reason).

There are a lot of books I loved in my teens that I would be curious to read once again, to see if my perception has changed. It did happen for 1984 and Hamlet, so it would be interesting to see if it's the same case for other works as well!

A book on my TBR:

Gosh, so many. But one is Plutarch's Parallel Lives! I'm so curious about it but still haven't gotten around to actually reading it. I've only read short passages so far and I want to fix that! (Though good news is my grandparents actually have a copy in their library so I'll just snatch... um, borrow it at some point)

A book I've put down:

It used to happen quite a lot, but ever since I've started basing my reading on Tumblr... no okay, in all honesty, I've put down C. S. Forester's Hornblower and didn't get back to it for years. Although I love the tv series, I just couldn't get into the book. But I still kind of want to give it a go at some point in the future.

A book on my wishlist:

I've been obsessed with the Introducing Graphic Guides recently and I just want to collect them like Pokemon cards!!

They are very digestible and so, so good! I read one on Rousseau and Machiavelli, I bought one on the Enlightenment which I'm saving as a treat, but I need Žižek as well... and Foucault... and Romanticism...

A favourite book from childhood:

I know there recently was a movie that was... not good, but I loved Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines. It was this sort of steampunk-esque fantasy book which had a really interesting female protagonist. I mean I'm only just now realising how subversive it was that the main heroine was fairly unlikeable and very flawed but still someone you were meant to ultimately root for?

There was also a parallel about social darwinism – the world of the book had cities flying in the skies that were devouring smaller cities, robbing them blind and enslaving their populations. The governments had a flimsy quasi-philosophical justification for all this, but the heroes of the books were fighting against the status quo. Looking back, I still think the series was pretty cool!

A book you would give to a friend:

Recently borrowed Émilie du Châtelet's Discourse on Happiness to my friend after she went through a break-up. I'm hoping É's words of wisdom might help her!

A book of poetry/lyrics you own:

Catullus (a Czech and an English translation) of course!

I've also recently bought Ovid's Letters of Heroines in a second-hand bookshop and I'm looking forward to getting into it.

A non-fiction book you own:

A fair amount of biographies of old white dudes, to the surprise of noone...

but to give a little more interesting answer, I do own all the books by Jon Ronson. He's a British journalist writing about current issues and I find him to be both really funny and really insightful!

His books about the psychiatric industry (The Psychopath Test) and modern-day ostracism (So You've Been Publically Shamed) are especially good and I'd recommend them to everyone!

Currently reading:

Voltaire's biography - Roger Pearon's Voltaire Almighty. It may not be a prefect academic source, but his writing style is great and I'm really enjoying it so far!

I'm also on-and-off with Hilary Mantel's A Place of Greater Safety. I think I'll save it for once I start uni again.

Planning on reading next:

Denis Diderot's The Nun! I'm super curious because it sounds like a really interesting book for understanding sexuality and gender in the enlightenment era.

What did you think of CPC’s ending? 👀👀

Hi IHF!!! I am really sorry to just replying cuz I overthinking so many things, I kinda want to write many things about CPC's ending but that's making me go here and there...

As an overthinker, along with a big procrastinator, I realized how long I keep your question in my inbox unanswered... This also I portrayed through fanfiction at AO3 ``June's Dump" which initially about month June at CPC, so 7 months timeskip as we have George and his sommelier wedding - which def invite Jamie, but I wonder if the venue at Plaid Palace thus we have Plaid Royals reactions over them... Hmph, fix time! I need to fulfill ‘em all!!

Back to basic, the initial question... What do I personally think about the CPC's ending as in epilogue 173? Well… I have mixed feelings, so I have some clashed opinions

As a wiki editor personal thought, I am kind of annoyed at a certain 'new' editor that cut off many things in the page as Mocha already gives the foundation... Peri was even shocked by my strong reactions over that annoyance... Although from there I see how unstable my emotions are, I literally have too many mixed emotions that I can't describe! Nevertheless I finished the story part up to completion, and I think that page is pretty much done. There's my thought as fandom wikia editor lmao but that's too much technical

"Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The final chapter takes place six months later, and Gwen writes in her diary about what happened then:

Jack learned about Lilyth and her painting curse, then he cried for a whole week over her.

Lorena got an A+++++ for her final class project.

The kids are getting along with the family, and both Jamie and Leopold made more artwork for the walls so Lilyth could travel through them around the castle.

Jack held a celebration to acknowledge the people who helped defend the castle from the invasion. He hasn't visited Leland in prison since.

Jerry was promoted to Chief Warden, while Beckett got demoted and transferred far away from Maria.

I am more curious about the location of the new "home" where the throuple LorZanCe are lmao, likely at Pastel Kingdom I guess

The Club got Gwen's painting from the Conservatory back by distracting them with Laverne.

The forest of the Cursed Princess Club was declared a protected area by the king so it's never in danger of being invaded again.

Frederick has been hard at work studying to one day become king and receives support from his family.

> At discord, me and some buddies are joking about how Frederick is going during timeskip espc as he is technically the 'special member' but hasn't got his own slumber party yet... Hence why we got amused on the scenario of him sneaking out on a night to get initiated, but his kingdom mistaken it as something serious and send an army to fetch him out from initiation LOL (in similar sense of ep 148 ending where Prez shocked to see Plaid soldiers lining and thought they are merely fetching Frederick, and in our scenario that assumption of Prez becomes reality). Oh well, I hope in the promised side stories we have Frederick's slumber party (and Maria as well! Although I also hope Lorena and Jamie get the open arms to join the CPC? Well let's see/Fanfic for cope)

Prez stopped taking her medication and resorted to her old way of dealing with her curse. With the growing acknowledgement and support for the Cursed Princess Club, she is looking to expand to help more people who are cursed.

First about the expansion as moving out to a new and bigger building, we don't know exactly where but I really really hope it's at Plaid Kingdom. That way with reformed Plaid Kingdom whose initially negative thoughts toward cursed people (let's see; Leland feels the cursed need to be fixed first, while Blaine and com. Tattersall sees cursed as a monster which needs to die), now on the hands of kinder people espc the crown prince himself is close with CPC - that makes the CPC expansion more meaningful IMHO. Also cuz Plaid has larger land xD

> the period pauser pill (it's not birth control y'all, please don't mix 'em up, fandom!) indeed merely temporarily solution and I have doubts from very first time as see it through eyes of biologist that concerned with drugs side effects espc for long use - even if those pills possibly non synthetic ones=lesser side effects. Basically ALL drugs are technically poison that is used on right doses, time and matched person with many has strict rules under prescription. That's why Whitney suddenly bought it kinda concerning, although I can see the comedic effect and temporarily 'relief of the curse' on that solution haha. Permanent solution possibility for Prez is to get 'reproduction organs/system removal' surgery - the HYSTERECTOMY.. here I spill a bit of spoiler secret of RaS as my ff series, I want Prez to consider that option

Themidora reunited with lobster lover, Benedict, who tricked the wicked sea cucumber into cursing him so he could be with her.

> I am surprised but in the side of “wao, so LambCat chose that option” because I kinda guessed it before. Thermidora "solution" is either to de-transform back as lobster so can reunites with Benedict (probably through searching 'lobster' serum from that background cursed serums merchant, or probably Jack allows the Clam to be used for betterment of CPC members not for greed) OR Benedict somehow finds a way to meets with her. I am more surprised with the way of latter guess to be true, because the method is kinda mundane "trick the sea cucumber to curse me so I can walk on land!" way + Thermidora wish of 'meeting hot summer lobster' to be true somehow LOL. Her premonition comes true and that's silly sweet panel ^^

Whitney returned home to his kingdom for Blacquelyn's coronation. She now wears a coat made from Greyden's fur.

> I wonder about Whitney's status in the Monochrome Kingdom but it seems won't be explained. So my guess as in HCs: Queen Blacquelyn actually 'likes' Whitney more than Greyden from the start, probably in the way of 'being girl is never to claim the throne' so Whitney never heeds her much. Which as Whitney presumed to die and Greyden raising to power, Greyden make havoc to bring his harem to the palace and annoys his sister so much = reason why Blacquelyn decides to throws throne of Greyden (which I and Axel have HC, got neutered LOL)

Nell and Jolie officially got married.

> Very happy for the wedding! Personally I thought their wedding itself is beautiful but the guests scene kinda iffy me a lil bit. Like why Pastel Kingdom only has Maria, Gwen, and Jack? Where are Lorena and Jamie?? I think they are busy chasing their dreams so choose not to attend, or LambCat simply lazy to draw them lol/jk. Also this kinda controversial intake espc to Syrah lovers, but personally I don't feel humored at all with Syrah still flirting with Jack when she must know how strong the love of Jack/Leelathae-Lilyth.. So that scene leaves bad taste to me, this excluding poor Saffron moment. Sigh, the ship of Syrah/ Saffron is officially sunk. I am kinda accepted it but I just feel weird despite being female myself, I feel many female characters are easily 'get away' with things while male characters gets repetitive/redundant/unnecessary misfortunes - some of folks at discord agree with that statement but at the end of the day I want CPC for their heartwarming wholesomeness, not to pick fights at anyone and I am still learning about that. I wonder if Nell and Jolie moved out to stays at the Lace Kingdom as I feel CPC need some delegations that stays at their own kingdom, that's what Tori wants for Monika after all. Speaking of Monika, she technically can have 2 suitors as one Tori and other Orson lol - but epilogue is not deciding her end so I feel who Monika ends up to isn't important? At least her dream to open a stall for jewelry becomes reality, although a certain someone at discord is mad about lack of Monika's appearance overall....

Aurelia got together with Celso after their meeting at the castle.

Anyway to be honest I am not really a fan of both of them as they are alright characters but not really special as in 'meh' territory. Unlike Orson/Monika as the ship of a Princel/CPC member, CeLia is too rushed imho (they literally meet each other during the night of invasion arc) with the dash of concerning acid mouth from both + we don't know if the "True love's kiss" attempt from Aurelia to Celso really happening or not, but it's so concerning - realistically in my HC about cures for Aurelia, we can develop some utensils that won't melt with her spit (they have magics, duh) with probability of chopsticks could not touching directly with mouth along it's saliva during consumption of certain foods OR developing (more realistic!) melting curse counter which high in acid with something like specialized mouthwash high in alkaline

Maria got to fulfill her dream of singing her recital for everyone, which caught the eye of her idol and they began collabing.

> Good for Maria :3 Also the side stories sneak peak has Maria like performing on a certain stage with a new outfit which the image can be seen at P.S at the end, I wonder if she does an idol live stage under Bozart tutelage?

Blaine is now on a journey of self atonement, but has made sure to attend Maria's recital.

I just hope that Blaine at least attempts to communicate with his family (sans Leland ofc) in his journey, especially his youngest brother who becomes crown prince right now could get some pointers about how to lead people of their kingdom. My opinion about Blaine fits the most with Mono's opinion in that sense after all

As for Gwen, she no longer sees cracks in her reflection. She is happy with Frederick.

Last for real, GwenDerick/FredDolyn last finale panel is very similar with Frederick's dream as Frederick on the left side of us, holding hands with Gwen with blushing face. That panel is freaking cute and fits the CPC epilogue so much in my humble opinion, what I dream is becomes reality - of wholesomeness ^^

Conclusion: (u could just jump to here, HEHEHE XD )

Long Story Short, overall the epilogue as in the CPC's ending is satisfying to me espc that lovely very last panel. Certain parts like Aurelia's solution of her curse or Prez just back to her old method seems lackluster, but to me is not that bad. I feel the 'backlash' of enjoyment actually from the fandom itself by some 'people' that I will put as anonymous, those I label as 'ungrateful' with some points I already mention. Also I know I am pushing myself so unhealthy regarding editing stuff… I love it actually so no pressure to me at all, but I know it’s kind of my running of realities of adulting hence why I need to ‘touch some grass’ as well

I forgot to mention that I guessed long ago (and confirmed to be right!) that Gwen will write a diary at the epilogue as inspired by her mom's diary.
