Today I'm covering the final four episodes of Vampire Knight: Guilty, and I am honestly just so happy to be done. The ending of the show is 100% completely my nightmare outcome, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty pissed off. This story made me want to go be a hermit alone in the woods somewhere. Please let Castlevania be better, because that's what I'll be watching next.

new ride kamens dropped, rui, who is definitely a horobi homage; another cool choice, but at the same time, kinda wish it was someone else 'cuz now we got two zero-one homages with hayate's jin, when the trend had been one rider for each season until him, and people started claiming that takahashi must be playing favorites

aw, I was actually pretty jazzed to see it was Horobi! I think it opens up some interesting possibilities if it isn't only one-per after all, and I'm excited to see if there's gonna be something with him and Hayate or not. plus I just really like his design

(also, not to be all cynical, but. this exists because of a corporate trend-hop with a franchise that is already sorta notorious for executive meddling. I would be...let's say very surprised if Takahashi had that level of control over what riders were included, versus being handed a list to work off of that the execs had already determined would appeal to their target demographic. c'mon.)

the system possession au has had me thinking lately: how do you guys interpret the system when it comes to the two transmigrators? Do you see it as one system working with both transmigrators for the same overarching goal of Fixing The Plot, or do you see it as two distinct systems, unique to each transmigrator?

Castlevania S2E4-6, “Broken Mast” & “Last Spell” & “The River”

Today, I'm covering Castlevania season 2 episodes 4-6, and Carmilla is just such a queen. Pity her plan got upstaged by Sypha's spell. I assume we're going to have some degree of Dracula v. Belmont/Sypha/Alucard confrontation in the next two episodes, though, so I very much wonder how that's going to go. Surely it's not going to be the final showdown already, right? There's two entire seasons more to go!

There is a little part in the Stellarlune short story that I think everyone skipped over because marelinh (I forgot how to spell their ship name) but the part says something along the lines of “she had already figured out how to set linh’s rain on fire, and she couldn’t wait to do that when the neverseen showed their faces again”. Shannon has a thing she does where she’ll foreshadow things that will only be revealed books later, she also had Stellarlune’s storyline figured out by like, the time she was writing exile, as evidenced by a post during the Stellarlune writing process that said something along the lines of “no pressure, just got to write out scenes that have only lived in my head for the last 10+ years”. Do you think the rain thing will come into play later?

I certainly hope so! Shannon's been hinting for a while about combining elemental abilities specifically with Marella and Linh (since Marella's pyrokinesis was first introduced in Nightfall)--so whether we see it specifically as fire rain or not, I do think we'll see the two of them teamed up in some future/final fight.

With all the comments we've seen about how elemental abilities are especially volatile, it'd seem a waste not to put the two of them to use. If only they had a guster to complete the trifecta

But since she's already specifically mentioned the fire rain, it does make sense she'd use that in the future. So I'm going to go with a probable yes :)

i've been dying for a poll option ever since i saw my followers' answers to that text post from february 2022 asking people whether they pronounce beloved as "be-lov-ed" or "be-loved". many people were emphatic about only using one option, and many others use both but were not always able to articulate when they use 2 syllables vs. 3. so out of the goodness of my heart and my insatiable lust for knowledge i have gone through the notes on that post and written down some likely contenders! you're welcome!!!!

BEFORE YOU ANSWER! think about how you would pronounce beloved in the following syntactic contexts:

noun, talking directly to the beloved: hey there beloved

noun, talking about rather than to the beloved: my beloved lives in a pineapple under the sea

adjective in a noun phrase: my beloved x lives in a pineapple under the sea

verb participle: x is beloved by y
