Deciding which takeout to get tonight feels uncomfortably like deciding on a last meal. It isn't and won't be my last meal, but tomorrow does feel like a scheduled execution.

SERIES MASTERLIST | NEXT CHAPTER
The next few hours were a blur. After falling apart on the bathroom floor, you somehow were able to get yourself into the shower, albeit the water was scorching hot, and you once again ended up on the floor. It was only when the room became so hot that you couldn’t breathe did you finally shut the water off and uncurl from around yourself.
You still didn’t feel the same after changing into some lounge clothes, lying on his side of the bed and staring out into nothingness. The room felt too dark, too empty, too hollow. Even though all of his belongings were still here, it was now just your room.
Another stuttering breath left you as you realize that it felt like he died instead of just forgetting you, but he might as well have.
How were you going to explain this to anyone? Oh yeah, this Logan wasn’t the Logan that you’d come to love wholly and completely with every fiber of your being. He wasn’t the Logan that you’ve just spent the past four years with. He wasn’t the one that held you during your darkest moments, or let you shine during your brightest. He wasn’t the one that still managed to make every day a surprise.
And he won’t be ever again.
A gentle knock on your door pulled you out of your stupor. You don’t answer, but the door opened anyways. A soft shadow blurred out the hallway lights, but you didn’t have to turn around to be able to guess who it was.
You still didn’t say anything as she entered your room and shut the door behind her. Even though your back was to her, you could still see the look of pity on her face as she slowly approached you, settling at the edge of the mattress by your feet.
A hand came up and rested itself on your calf. “I’m sorry about what’s happened to Logan. I can’t even begin to imagine the kind of pain that you’re going through right now, Halo.”
“Please, Jean, I just wanna be alone,” you begged, pulling the sheets tighter around yourself.
A beat passed before she spoke again.
“I know, but friends don’t let friends wallow in misery. Besides, there’s a frozen strawberry margarita and queso from Louie’s with your name on it in the kitchen.”
A watery laugh left you, some tears making their escape as you finally sat up, wiping them away. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Jean.”
“Probably rot away in here until the end of time.”
“Probably,” you sighed, peeling away the sheets.
It was late, so you didn’t bother changing out of your lounge clothes just to go the kitchen. The two of you didn’t run into anyone on the way down thankfully. The lights were on, and sure enough, a to-go back from Louie’s sat on the kitchen counter with your name sharpened on the side of it.
You wasted no time settling into a stool and diving into the bag, pulling out the margarita and the still hot styrofoam cup of queso, along with a brown bag of tortilla chips. Despite not actually being there with Logan, you guess this would have to suffice as your after-mission treat.
Jean had chosen the stool next to you, occasionally picking a chip out of the bag to snack on. It was quiet for a few moments while you slurped down your frozen drink before you broke the silence.
“So…Did you see him yet?”
Jean’s eyes snapped over to you, surprised that you brought him up.
“I did. He had just woken up and came into the professor’s office. He was looking around like everything was new, like he was surprised to be where he was. He still looks the same, obviously, but it’s like he holds himself completely differently now. It’s hard to explain without seeing him.”
You hummed in acknowledgement, bringing a cheesy chip to your mouth. Jean looked at you for a moment, a look passing over her face before it disappeared, deciding to redirect her focus to the outside. You were about to ask another question before you heard heavy footsteps coming down the hallway, and like a cruel joke, Logan walked past the doorway.
Speak of the devil.
He stopped dead in his tracks once he realized the kitchen wasn’t empty, back tracking just a couple steps to stand in the doorway. He was dressed in his signature leather jacket and t-shirt, holding the keys to his bike in one hand. You assumed that he just came back from a bike ride.
You brave yourself to meet his eyes, but instead of them looking back, they’re looking just next to you. Confused, you look to your right and realize that Jean’s looking right back, unblinking with a look on her face.
“Jean.”
“Logan.”
It had completely escaped you how this Logan’s Jean had been dead for years, and since he had never met you, of course his feelings for Jean had never waned after all this time. He was looking at her like he used to look at you.
Your margarita suddenly soured in your mouth, and the rest of your meal became completely unappetizing. Instantly your stomach began to roil, and all your once hidden feelings of inferiority began to rear their ugly heads. It’s only once you pushed the cup away and abandoned it to leave did Logan turn his attention towards you, meeting your eyes. It’s almost comical how fast you turned breathless and mindless, unable to think about a damn thing to say to him, but what could you say?
You mumbled a thanks to Jean before high tailing it towards the only entrance in and out of the kitchen where Logan was still standing. You kept your eyes trained on the floor while you walked, but in a moment of weakness, you let your eyes flick up to him. You expected him to still be staring at Jean, but it startled you to find that he was looking down at you with an indiscernible look on his face as you all but pushed past him.
If Jean called out to you, you didn’t hear it, focusing only on getting back up to your room to wallow in grief again. You were so stupid to think that this Logan would look passed Jean as he had in the past. She died before he ever could. So now that she was here, and he had her, of course he would overlook you and look towards her.
You never had a chance.
~
Logan watched as you fled all the way down the hall before disappearing around a corner, and he still listened as you flew up the stairs before letting your bedroom door snick shut. He let his eyes drop to the floor as he thought about your face just then in the kitchen, completely frozen at the sight of him. Your wide eyes were frozen on him like you saw a ghost, and he guessed that you sort of did.
He's brought back to reality as he heard Jean sigh, getting up from her seat in the kitchen. She picked up the leftover food before throwing them into the bag and throwing all of it away, brushing her hands on her pants. He still stood in the doorway as she approached and had no choice but to stop in front of him.
“Do you really have no memory of who she is?” she asked, letting her eyes drift up to his.
Wordlessly, Logan shook his head, dropping his eyeline to the ground. “No, but I know that I should.”
“Yeah. Listen, Logan, I know that things are drastically different for you now, and that you probably feel like you’re just floating with nowhere to go, but Halo was probably the one person that you let yourself truly attach to. And there’s a reason for that.”
Then she left, leaving Logan speechless alone in the kitchen.  He shook his head and sighed, rubbing his face as he continued his way up to his room. This was a mess. Everything was a mess. This entire day was spent trying to figure out what his place was in this new present, and he had been left with little to no answers. Sure, he still had mostly the same relationships with people with just small variances in them, but two of the biggest were completely different to him. It was still a punch to the gut every time he saw Jean, completely taken away by seeing her in the flesh when he had only seen her in his dreams. And you…he had no clue how to navigate.
While he made no outright effort to find you, he still kept an open eye wherever he went in case he did see you. He was curious to the kind of person that could have made him forget about pursuing Jean, especially since she was still alive here. You were much different than Jean, at least from what it looked like, and damn it he wanted to know more.
He had just made it to the stairwell when he heard one of the back doors slammed shut, rattling the walls. It was late and a school night, so there was really only one guess to who was going outside at this time. It took only a single look up the stairs before Logan decided to follow, dropping his keys into his pocket.
As soon as he took his first step outside, he already picked up your scent, leading out into the forest that lined the back part of the school’s property. It wasn’t hard to follow where you had been, and it didn’t take long before he came to the other edge of the forest. When he broke through the tree line, he was taken aback by the sight of a large lake spanning at least a couple of miles. The rocky shore was stunning, and the surface of the lake was so still it was almost eerie.
His head snapped to his right when a sniffle broke the serenity, finding you with your arms wrapped around your legs, staring out at the lake, but not really seeing. In the moonlight, he could see twin tear tracks on your splotchy red cheeks.
Taking a quick breath, he searched for the words that he could say to you as he approached, but you beat him to it.
“She was right,” you mumbled when he was near enough. Your eyes were still staring into nothing across the water.
He stopped just ten feet from you, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jacket.
“Who was right about what?”
“Jean. She was right about how even though you’re physically still our Logan, it’s like there’s a stranger wearing your skin.”
You picked up a rock next to you, taking a cursory glance at it before skipping it across the lake, breaking the glass surface.
“I feel like I’m wearing someone else,” he answered, keeping his eye on the last of the ripples.
Your head turned slightly to let your eyes look up at him.
“Even though I’m technically still the same person, everyone is slightly different. Their pasts are different, so they’re not the same from the people that I knew. It’s difficult gauging people because I already expect one thing, but then a curveball is thrown at me, and I don’t know what to do with it. But you, on the other hand,” he paused, letting his eyes drop to meet yours, “are someone completely new.”
You broke contact first, dropping your eyes back to the stony shore.
“God’s greatest joke,” is all you said before pushing yourself up.
You shoved your hands in your pockets and started the walk back to the mansion wordlessly, but Logan was just a handful of feet behind you the entire time. He didn’t bother making conversation, thank God, you thought, only keeping his distance as your shadow until you were safely in your room for the night.

Anybody remember when Velveeta ran all those ads telling people what queso dip was because somehow its existence was unknown to a demographically-significant portion of the populace?
Now we have to "Normalize ranch with chicken and meat?"
Tumblr media
"Normalize Ranch?"
Ranch with meat isn't just normal. It's Hypernormal. It's been a standard condiment since the Clinton Administration. It's mayo for people who hate mayo.
RANCH FACTS:
They give you cups of it at wing places, you don't ask for it. You have to tell them to give you something else.
They do the same at pizza places, and also sometimes ranch replaces the red sauce.
Ranch is so American it invades food groups like its looking for oil.
I'm in Oklahoma. We still had dry counties up until the twenty-teens and even we've been dipping our pizza in ranch since videogames came in a plastic cartridge.
It's so basic we've gotten desensitized and we're mainlining Green Goddess and Blue Cheese just feel something.
If you have too much shame to put ranch on something, like meatloaf, that doesn't stop us. We just put the powder directly into the meatloaf.
The average Midwesterner is 17% ranch dressing by volume.
Tumblr media
Ranch hasn't become a beverage yet, but it's still trying.

“God, I’m so hungry.” You say as soon as the appetizers arrive at the table.
Everything looked so good. “I could down all 6 of those plates right now.” After loading a variety of flavors onto your plate, you take the first bite of actual heaven.
Your friends sit there in total shock, the calls of your name falling on deaf ears. By the time you look up, half of the plate is gone. “Um, when was the last time you ate?” Ariel asks, the girl with red dyed locs only had a single meatball on her plate.
You look around the table and slowly shift in your seat when only one of the five plates had been loaded.
You gulped. “Oh I skipped lunch at work, we were really busy.”

6 Hours Earlier
The scene had wrapped early, but lunch was scheduled at 1. As you sat in your trailer, the next 30 minutes felt like hours. You were starving, because of how long a chaotic filming of a movie is. All you had today was a protein shake. Sipping on it throughout was fine but you needed food.
The second the clock struck one, you yanked open the door hoping to see your P.A on the other side and by the grace of god, she was.
“One Moe's Homewrecker Bowl with extra salsa, queso, and siracha. A large chocolate peanut butter cup milkshake from Steak & Shake and lastly homemade banana pudding straight from the Peach Cobbler Factory.” Deyzia handed you the bowl first and set the rest on the counter.
“D I fucking love you so much.” You moan taking a bite of your food. “I also love filming in Atlanta.”
The young girl giggled, grabbing water from the mini fridge and setting that beside you too. “You’re welcome, boss. Gotta keep the woman that pays me happy.”
You simply nodded, not caring about her words. The food was all that mattered at this moment.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Thinking back to earlier that day, you push the play forward a bit and fake a groan. “Skipping lunch was a bad idea, but I need to make room for my pasta.”
The faux brunette beside you took that as an opportunity to clean your plate. “I felt that, but I’m not letting these mozzarella sticks go to waste.”
You had to fight the pout that wanted to set on your face as your stomach started to growl. “Go on right ahead Sash, I shouldn’t be eating such greasy food anyway.”
“Oh yeah, she’s a big movie star now guys.” Diane chuckles. “Before you know it, The Cheesecake Factory will be too good for her.”
Your laugh comes out halfheartedly. “Please if it ever does, I’ll start paying for everyone’s dinner.”
You can tell the dark skin beauty liked that even if her job in real estate had a more stable future than yours.
Everyone seemed to move on from your appetite afterward, now paying more attention to Sasha's newest romantic encounters- as a newly out fem she was immensely enjoying the fun queer scene.
But even with most eyes on her, you couldn’t help but feel another set studying your presence You quietly excuse yourself from the table and speed walk to the women’s restroom, the clacking of another pair of heels steps behind you causing sweat to build on your brow.
Looking in the mirror, you powder all the sweaty and oily spots on your face. Then reapply your favorite lip tint before your longtime friend speaks up.
“This morning all you could talk about was that cobbler place opening back up. I heard you place the same lunch order with the addition of the banana pudding you said was ‘so incredible, to die for, astronomically delicious.’ Then you came home and downed a large fruit salad. But you’re starving- no actually you're too full, but your stomach is definitely saying the latter.” You lock eyes in the mirror, but for the first time in 8 years, you can’t read the expression on her face.
“Yazmine.”
Her strong bronze arms cross over her chest, some of her blonde braids getting caught in the process. “You think I don’t know what’s going on?”
“Yaz…”
“No, we’ve been best friends since drama school and this is how you tell me?!” Her eyes are so scolding you shift your focus to putting your makeup away.
“Eliza!” The harsh tone of her voice makes you jump but paired with the role you’ve wanted since you knew what theater was it brought chills to your skin. The day you met, you both chose to audition with a Hamilton song so the director made you sit for each other’s ‘performances,’ in the end she became the Angelica to your Eliza.
“Yaz, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Your hands shake as you close your purse and turn to leave. But her now soft mousy voice stops you. "Just wait."
“Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant?”
Because you hadn’t admitted to yourself.
Turning you lay your head against the granite wall and show her the small pools in your eyes. “I.. I didn’t notice it at first, after most shoots I slept for hours. I didn’t want to eat but that was sort of normal. Then the um- cravings started, I was just glad my appetite was back. But I started getting sick, and that’s when I really noticed the changes. I kept telling myself they’d go away, that it’s not really happening. I still haven’t said it out loud, but it’s been two months. I wrap in a few days, the movie’s been a great distraction, but I-I don’t know what to do. The doctor said everything’s fine, but I don’t feel like myself anymore. I-I don’t-
She takes two large steps and engulfs you in her arms. “Hey, hey I’m here. I’m here Liza. You’re gonna be fine, I’m gonna help you through this. Don’t worry about it, you’re not alone babe. You have me, Dia, Sasha, Ariel, shit even Deyzia, we’ll always be here for you.”
You sob even harder. “I-I hav-haven’t-
“Shhhh, take your time, I’m not going anywhere.” She just rocks you in her arms, the safe and secureness she oozes is more than enough to calm a bear.
You slowly pick up your head and wipe away the remaining tears. “I haven’t told him. I found out after we broke up, he blocked me on everything and I changed my number. I don’t know if I can go through this with him, after everything we’ve been through. I can’t Yaz, I can’t tell him.”
She kisses your head and whispers against your heated skin. “I’ll tell him and I’ll whoop his ass in the process.”
You snort against her neck, softly pushing her away. “Thank you, I honestly have no idea what I’d do without you, Angel.” She smiles and wraps an arm around you.
“I know, who do you think helped you with all those damn orphanages?” You roll your eyes at her smirk as you walk back into the dining room.
“So who’s telling the girls?”
︶︶︶︶༉‧₊˚
“Ja’Marr! Open up! I see his stupid car outside, you’re not fooling anyone!” Yazmine’s incessant yelling and banging on the Cincinnati door seize when the tatted wide receiver yanks it open.
“Woman, you need to chill the fuck out. Whatchu’ doing all that hollerin’ for?” The football player dawned a sweaty white muscle shirt and basketball shorts, clearly he had just finished a workout. Yazmine would usually take more time admiring his strong build, but that’s not why she’s here.
“Where is he? Bring Burrow’s ass out, we need to have a chat.” She demands arms crossed and lips pursed.
Ja’Marr smirks doing his own look over the woman in front of him. “Mm mm mmm. You sure are breathtaking, baby.” He bites his bottom lip tilting his head to get a peak at her backside. “What did I do to earn the sight of this..
“Hey! No, focus Chase.” She snaps her fingers in his face to riel him back in. “Joseph. Burrow. Get him. Now.”
He takes in the serious look on her face and shakes his head. “I assume this is about your girlfriend, so..” He steps back and opens the door wide enough for her to go through then nods towards the direction of his kitchen.
“Thank you.” Yazmine leans up and places a chaste kiss on his cheek. “If this goes well, you might get more later.” Then walks off looking for the quarterback.
“I better be getting more, fucking HOA gon kill me for the damn noise.”
Turning a wide corner, Yazmine spots the man she’s been searching for at the kitchen counter, wearing almost the exact attire as his friend. “Oh sorry, I didn't know you and J were rendezvousing today.”
She looks at the man confused. “Rendezvous? That’s not what we’ve been- nothing is going on.”
Joe cocked his head with a smirk. “Isn’t it though? I’m pretty sure sneaking around for months on end means there’s definitely something going on behind closed doors.”
Yazmine rolls her eyes and sits on a bar stool, leaving an empty one in between them. “Whatever that’s not why I’m here- didn’t you hear me at the door?”
He points to the Beats headphones fitted snugly in his ear.
“Okay well, this is about you and..” Joe scoffs hopping up from the stool.
“If there’s no you and J, there definitely isn’t a me and her. I don’t want to hear it, she clearly doesn't either considering she’s not here herself.”
Yaz gets up and follows him to the backyard. “This is serious Joe, if she could be here, you know she would.”
“Actually I don't know anything about her anymore, including her number, because she changed it hours after we broke up.” He muttered picking up a basketball, bouncing it once, and shooting- only to airball.
“She had to change it, remember the stupid leak! You didn’t have to block her on everything though, maybe if you had left at least one line of communication open I wouldn't be here, asshole.” She snickers as his second shot also falls short.
“Well get the damn thing over with then. What’s the problem?”
Her face softens and she reaches into her back pocket. “Joe, she’s pregnant.”
His frustrated demeanor immediately drops, replaced with wide eyes and parted lips. He slowly feels his world start spinning, he parts his stance and grips onto the basketball for some kind of relief.
“She’s 11 weeks, almost 3 months. It’s most definitely yours and she just got back in town. She wanted me to tell you because she was scared of your reaction, she’s not sure if she wants you to be there though.” Yazmine confesses handing him an ultrasound picture.
“What do y- what? Why wouldn’t she want me there? I- I don’t understand.” His eyes are locked on the image as it shakes in his hand.
Yazmine lets out a breath. “Think about it Joe, you were nothing but unreliable in the 3 years you were together. You put football, your foundation, even your friends before her. Then when she got her big break, the happiest day of her life, she had to come home to you in bed with someone else. You didn’t know how to be in a relationship so instead of asking her how she felt, you broke her heart. Does that sound like someone she’d want to raise a child with? She didn’t even want to admit to herself, I didn’t find out until a few weeks ago.” She inhales deeply trying to calm her emotions.
“I’m only telling you because it would be cruel not to. Even if I thought telling you would do the trick if that's what she was going for. She doesn’t want anything from you, so don’t worry about being put on child support. I don’t know how the rest of this is going to go, but I will not let you and your bullshit upset her, stress her out, or bother her about it. That’s my best friend and I will do anything to protect her. You may not want to step up to be a father, but that baby will have two parents no matter what.” A stray tear streams down her face, he’s now looking at her intently.
“Now you have a choice: keep the picture, hide it somewhere then sign away your rights in a few months, or turn it over and change your life.” Yazmine swiped away the tear and then left him alone on the court.
Joe hadn’t realized he too had been crying until a tear dripped onto the paper. He stumbled over to a lawn chair, not taking his eyes off of the black and white fetus. The damp spot now made the paper translucent allowing him to see blue ink on the other side. His brows furrowed then he remembered, ‘Turn it over and change your life.’
Flipping the image hope peaked in his heart as he repeatedly read the number.
The quarterback quickly began to pat his shorts, realizing he left his phone inside. He rushed into the house, passing Yazmine and completely ignoring his teammate to grab his phone on the kitchen counter. Not caring about the small audience he dials the number as fast as he can, praying that she’ll answer.
“Come on, come on. Please pick up.” It goes straight to voicemail, her fake perky voice fibbing about calling back on the other side instead.
But he still takes the chance and leaves a message. “Baby, it’s me. I know, Yaz told me. I’m so sorry, I know it’s long overdue but please if there’s a chance I wanna be there. If this is the only time that I have to get through to you, I’m taking the shot. I know you deserve way better than me and that baby- our baby deserves to have a family that loves them and cherishes them for everything. Give me a chance to be the man you need me to be, I miss you so much. I’m sorry I didn’t see what I had right in front of me. I’m sorry about the image you have of me in her head. If I could start all this over again, I’d change everything I did- I was selfish and foolish. I need you.. I want you, you’re the only one I want. Please, I want to be a father to our baby. I watch them grow up with you. Even if we don’t work out again, I won’t leave our baby. I won’t leave you until you’re kicking and screaming for me to go. Just give me one more shot, to show you that I can be who you need me to be. I don't want this to be the end of our story, tell me I have more time. Please baby, just call me back.”
'This mailbox is now full. Goodbye.'

You Told Him What???
Tumblr media
Miguel O'Hara x Reader ~ Wade Wilson x Sis!Reader ~ Fluff
This was the reason you didn't want your brother meeting your boyfriend...
"Querida, what on earth is this?" Miguel stood in front of the refrigerator looking perplexed. Placing the knife, you'd been cutting with on the counter, you wiped your hands off on your apron and moved to stand behind him.
"What on earth is what, Miguel?" Wrapping your arms around his waist you strained to see what he was talking about.
"What are you expecting to see from back there?" He said dryly.
"I like this view just fine, thank you very much." Resting your chin between his shoulder blades you ran a finger up the center of his sternum.
"Please, querida." He huffed, grabbing your hand.
"Okay, okay." Muscling your way under his arm, you tilted your head back to look at him. "Hi."
"Hello." Miguel returned your warm smile with a small one of his own and wrapped his arm around your waist. Turning your attention back to the fridge, you narrowed your eyes.
"What am I looking for?"
"That." Miguel nodded towards a plastic wrapped package of cheese. Your brows scrunched in confusion. Had he never seen cheese before?
"Babe, that's cheese."
"Cheese?" He looked askance at you. Tilting your head back further to meet his gaze you blinked.
"Cheese." Miguel raised a brow in suspicion.
"Y/N, why is each slice wrapped in its own plastic?"
"Oh! That question makes more sense." Nodding your head, you spoke more to yourself than to him.
"Querida?"
"Hm?" Turning back, you noted his expectant expression. "Oh, yes! Cause it was cheaper." Miguel looked from you back to the cheese with skepticism.
"It can't taste that good, then."
"Oh, it's horrible."
"Then why do you buy it?"
"Because it's cheap, I'm on a budget remember?" Miguel closed the fridge with a frown and turned to lean against the door.
"Hm." He nodded, pulling you into his arms. Wrapping your arms around his waist, you rested your chin on his chest and just watched him. Miguel was truly a work of art. Even now with that thoughtful expression on his face, he had to be one of the most attractive men you'd ever had the pleasure to know. His strong brows drew together in consternation, and you could practically see the gears turning in his mind.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Reaching up you ran a hand through his hair. Miguel snapped out of his haze and stared into your eyes with renewed interest.
"Nothing, querida." He shook his head. Your brow quirked and the corners of your lips dipped into a frown.
"Don't give me that, O'Hara, your brain was getting so hot I was afraid it was going to combust." Miguel chuckled and tightened his grip on your waist.
"If you're ever making grilled cheese, remind me to bring my own queso." You pulled back with a staged gasp and gently slapped his shoulder.
"Miguel O'Hara, are you making fun of my discount store queso?"
"No, Y/N, I'm making fun of your plastic cheese, that abomination could hardly pass for proper queso." He smirked and shrugged his shoulders. Your eyes lit with challenge, and you pulled yourself up to your full height.
"Oh, is that so?"
"That is so." He leaned forward and frowned; this might have been more intimidating had the playful affection dancing in his eyes not given him away. Standing on your tiptoes you came noes to noes with him and narrowed your eyes. Miguel's eyes dipped to your lips, and you could feel your throat growing tighter.
"What are you going to do about it, O'Hara?" Your eyes flickered to his lips. Something in his eyes shifted, and the red darkened almost to black. Snaking a hand up to cup your jaw, he tilted your face back and closing his eyes leaned forward,
Knock. Knock.
With a groan, you collapsed against his chest. Miguel growled and rested his forehead on the crown of your head.
"Talk about timing." You muttered; voice muffled by his shirt. You could feel Miguel tense and heard another low growl rumble from deep in his chest.
"Want me to run whoever it is off?" He fisted the hair at the nape of your neck and rested his cheek against the crown of your head. Pulling back, you gave him a smile and kissed his jaw.
"Tempting." A shiver went through your body at the gleam in his eyes, and you raised onto your tiptoes again to press a lingering kiss to his cheek. "But I have to live in this neighborhood." Lowering back onto the balls of your feet, you gave his chest and final pat and pulled away. Reluctantly, Miguel released you. "Why don't you make yourself useful and finish chopping the onions."
"Onions." He grumbled, propping his hands on his hips. Walking backwards towards the door you gave him a smile.
"What else am I paying you for?" Shaking his head, Miguel grabbed the knife and shook it at you.
"You're not paying me anything." When you opened your mouth to retort, he shook his head and motioned towards the door. "Answer the door, querida."
Turning to face the door, you glanced through the peep hole and felt your heart drop to your feet. Wade. This was it. The moment you'd been actively avoiding. Slowly you reached for the doorhandle, turning quickly to glance over your shoulder. Miguel was engrossed in his chopping. Taking a deep breath, you opened the door.
"Hey, Y/N!" There stood your brother in all his glory. Giant white take out bag in hand, and if you had to guess, under his mask he most likely sported an annoyingly bright smile.
"Wade, what are you doing here?" You hissed, closing the door just an inch. Wade's eyes narrowed momentarily, and he glanced down at the bag in his hand.
"I brought empanadas!" He hoisted up the bag and shook it for emphasis. At the unimpressed look on your face, he slowly lowered the bag.
"You were bored?"
"I was bored." Clutching the bag of empanadas, he shifted and looked at you expectantly. "Can I come in?"
"No."
"No?" He gasped, incredulously.
"That's what I said, Wade." Tilting his head to the side, he looked you up and down before narrowing his eyes again.
"You have someone over here, don't you?" Your eyes darted nervously towards the kitchen, and Wade followed your eyeline. "It's a man isn't it?" Wade crumpled the bag and leaned further into the room to see Miguel now chopping garlic. "That new spider freak?!" Your eyes darted back to his and you clamped your hand over his mouth.
"Shh! He'll hear you." You hissed, glaring up at him. "Besides, he's not a freak." Glancing towards the kitchen again, Wade scoffed.
" Sis, you can't be serious!" Wade looked over your shoulder to get another look of your new boyfriend.
"Oh yeah, and why's that, Wade?" Rolling your eyes, you leaned against the door frame in hopes of blocking your brothers view of the kitchen. Shaking his head, Wade merely leaned further to stare at the large man standing in the kitchen.
"C'mon Sis, sure he's hot, but he's got the personality of a rice cake."
"Takes one to know one, dead pool." You leaned forward and growled. Wade pulled back in exaggerated shock.
"That was a low blow, Y/N, but I'll forgive you this time."
"How generous of you." Rolling your eyes, you folded your arms.
"But really, sis, O'Hara?"
"He's a vampire." You blurted out. Wade dropped the bag. You covered your face and moaned. What have I done?
"No he's not." Wade chuckled. That raised your dander. Folding your arms, you set your jaw and gave him a determined look.
"Yes he is." Wade narrowed his eyes and looked passed you.
"Really?" He still sounded skeptical.
"Really."
"Him?" Wade dropped his confident posture and pointed a finger towards the kitchen.
"Him." You nodded, feeling oddly satisfied. Wade dropped his hand and looked at the wilted bag on the floor.
"Huh, well... that's cool, I guess." Bending down to pick up the bag he muttered to himself. "If you're into that sort of thing." You stepped back and opened the door wider.
"Do you still want to stay for dinner?" Wade snapped to attention and his head swiveled towards the kitchen before he backed up slowly.
"Maybe some other time, sis, uhm." Rubbing his head, he squinted at you. "Tell count chocula I said hi." Before you could open your mouth, he'd vanished.
"Obstinate merc." You chuckled, shaking your head. Closing the door, you turned back to the kitchen. Seeing Miguel glance up at you, suddenly your feet felt very heavy. The weight of what you'd told your brother consumed your whole body. With stilted steps you inched towards the island countertop.
"Who was that?" Miguel paused chopping to look up at you. Plopping onto a stool you rested your chin in your hands and sighed.
"My brother."
"Why didn't you ask him to stay?" Miguel resumed his chopping.
"Is that my apron?" You grinned at how adorable he looked in the comically small scrap of fabric covering his shirt. Miguel looked up and narrowed his eyes.
"You're avoiding the question, querida."
"I most certainly am, osito." Miguel hissed at the absurd pet name.
"Osito." He grumbled. Tapping your finger on your chin, you stared into the middle distance.
"He had somewhere to be.' That wasn't exactly a lie, you had no clue where Wade went or what he'd invent to do.
"Ah." Miguel seemed satisfied with that answer.
"Maybe next time." You turned your attention back to him. Miguel nodded without looking up. "Osito?"
"Hm?"
"I might have told him you were a vampire..." Miguel froze and dropped the knife.
"You told him what?!"

Hello! I don't know if you accept requests but Henry eating for the first time esquites/chaskas/elote in a glass, whatever they tell him in your country because in mine they are called chaskas 😭😭
In Mexico, it’s esquites if it’s in a cup and of course elote if it’s on the cob. I do accept requests! Helps with la falta de imaginación
Something New
Pairing: Henry Cavill x Hispanic/Latina! Reader
Summary: Henry meets Y/N’s parents for the first time and tries traditional Mexican food.
Warning: no translated Spanish, spelling and grammatical errors,
A/N: Im gonna input my childhood, obviously.
Tumblr media
Y/N was making lunch her and Henry when she got a phone call.
“Bueno?” Y/N asked, adding pasta into the boiling water.
“Hola hija! Cómo estás?” Her mom asked on the other line. Y/N walks away from the stove.
“Mami, estoy bien, y tú? Por qué me estás llamando?” Y/N asked, walking to the living room and swatted Henry’s shoulder, he looked back confused.
“Estoy bien, hija, gracias por preguntar.” Y/N put her mom on speaker. “Como pascua es este domingo, quiero que vengas con tu noviecito, han estado saliendo por un rato y no le hemos conocido ni nada.” Y/N’s mom said and Y/N’s eyes widened, now Henry was concerned, he might not know a lot of Spanish, but he could tell by his girlfriend’s face, this wasn’t the best news.
“Si mami, claro que voy con mi novio, de verdad quiero que se conozcan.” Y/N said.
“Que bueno, Los veo mañana, chao.” Her mom hung up and Y/N facepalmed her forehead.
“I understood about 20% of that, what’s going on?” Henry asked.
“Fortachón, you’ve got your wish, You’re meeting my parents tomorrow.” Y/N said and Henry’s eyes look,Ike they’re going to pop out of his head.
“Tomorrow? I am not prepared!” Henry exclaimed.
“Well tomorrow is Easter and my mom wants to meet you so…yeah. Knowing her, we’ll have a lot of tias and tíos, some primos already have kids so get ready for Superman questions, fortachón.” Y/N said, patting his shoulder before going back to the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Now it was Easter, Henry and Y/N were at her mom’s door, Henry carrying the Mexican rice Y/N made. Y/N rang the doorbell again, the door opened and she was greeted by her cousin Ignacio.
“Nacho! Cómo estás?” Y/N hugged her cousin and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Estoy bien prima, Miguelito esta jugando allá fuera. Pásale, pásale, nice to meet you Henry.” Nacho said, shaking Henry’s free hand, leading them through the house and into the backyard. “Put the rice on the table, mi papá ya está preparando los elotes.”
“Ooh, i haven’t had elotes in a while.” Y/N said.
“What’s elote?” Henry asked.
“You haven’t been making Your gringo any Mexican food? What kind of girlfriend are you?” Nacho said and Y/N swatted his arm.
“I make him Mexican food…he likes tacos, bistec empanado con sopita, quesadillas de papa.” Y/N said.
“Don’t worry, hermano, You’re going to eat really well here.” Nacho puts his arm around Henry’s shoulder as best as he could since Henry is obviously taller than him. Y/N says hello to everyone, introducing them to Henry.
“Okay, primer elote está listo, quien lo quiere?” Nacho’s dad, Hernando, asked. Nacho quickly got up for the elote.
“Okay so elote is corn topped with mayonnaise, cheese, and chili power. It’s really good (I haven’t eaten in, I don’t like corn), you’ll like it.” Y/N said. Henry was sat at the table while Y/N made him a plate of food. “I served you sopes which is tortilla topped with refried black beans, queso cotija, and lettuce because the salas is probably too spicy for you, your elote, a tostado which is the same as a sope but it’s a crunchy tortilla, and tostadas de pulpo because they’re my favorite.”
Henry looked at the plate in front of him. “This is a lot of food, love.”
“Yes but think of it this way, if you don’t like it, I’ll eat it, and very happily too.” Y/N said, kissing him. Henry took a bite of the octopus tostada.
“This is really good.” Henry finished that tostada, moved on to the regular tostada, then the sope, adding a bit of salsa. Then to the elote, best for last. He took a bite, some corn falling off the cob, mayonnaise on the corner of his mouth along with pieces of queso cotija and chili powder. “I think elotes might be my favorite, it’s delicious, muchas gracias, Hernando.”
“No es nada, güerito.” Hernando said, making another 2 elotes for Henry to eat.
“I take it this means I have to make more Mexican food in the house?” Y/N asks.
“Oh absolutely, I’m going to have to work out even more to burn off these calories.” Henry said, kissing Y/N with his mouth tasting like elote.
The End
I know it’s short but I hope you like it! Feel free to request more ideas

Teacher’s Pet
Part 4
Esteban Kukurickza x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After a few months of starting your literature course you seem to find it harder with time to ignore your professor, little did you know you were driving him crazy as well.
Warnings: nothing much just some fluff but not an appropriate teacher student relationship
Masterlist
It had been a few weeks since you and Esteban had basically spent the whole day together and since then you both were more close, that should be the way to describe it, he would bring you breakfast in the mornings and you would bring him coffee and a treat, he would send you emails to make sure you were okay with the lessons and that you weren’t stressed in any way
He would also make sure you were okay at work offering to bring you lunch on your breaks which you accepted gratefully since you were tired of the small breads from the coffee shop, your relationship had progressed from the beginning and it made you happy.
“Buenos Dias” you smiled putting the coffee cup down on his desk before taking a sip of your own “Buenos dias amor” amor, a new nickname that you adored “que haces?” You asked leaning on the edge of his desk, “nomas unos papeles” he sighed then he gave you a plastic bag, breakfast “es un burrito con huevo, tocino, y queso” he said as he flipped through some of the papers and you hummed peeling down half of the foil and taking a bite
“Y esto?” You pulled up a yellow folder and he carefully took it from your hands throwing it in a drawer “nada amor nada importante” he said a small smile on his lips and you gave him a pointed look “mentiroso” you mumbled taking a bite of the burrito, he laughed “yo mentiroso?” He asked amused making you nod as you sipped the coffee
He pinched your thigh playfully making you giggle as you swatted his hand away taking another bite of your breakfast “comiste bien a noche?” He asked and you nodded as you couldn’t answer with your mouth full and he looked at you in awe “que?” You asked a small embarrassed smile on your lips “te ves tan tierna amor” he said making you roll your eyes playfully
“Bueno ya me voy a senatar” you stood up and crumbled the foil throwing it out and taking your coffee with you “bueno nena” he watched as you went to take your usual seat.
After class you had gotten your stuff waiting for most of the class to clear out, walking up to Esteban you carefully grabbed his arm “voy al trabajo” you let him know and he nodded “te llevo comida” he said and you nodded “bueno” you smiled leaving and making your way to the bus to get to work
Once clocked in there was no such thing as a break or slowing down, you were at the register or serving people their orders.
“Oye nena, el novio” Nereyda your coworker said as she stood at the doorway to the break room “no es mi novio” you mumbled walking past her before making your way around the counter “Hola” you smiled standing in front of him “hola amor” he held a plastic bag with food in it “ven vamos” you lead him to the back where the break room was, your boss was allowing you to do this since you were the only one who ran the coffee shop the right way
Therefor you were allowed this certain special treatment.
“Cansada?” He saw how your eyes were droopy and you chewed slowly as if you were uninterested in the food “un poco” you took another bite of your food “aye pobrecita la niña” he teased as you smiled shaking your head “y a que hora sales?” He asked “en tres horas” you said taking another bite of food
“Te llevo a casa” he didn’t ask he just told you and you learned that whatever he says goes because he is very insistent "Y como esta you gatita?" you asked about the cat he had told you about
the little kitten he adored and you couldn't help but smile every time he mentioned her "Esta bien, en casa dormida como siempre" he smiled at the thought "Yo la quiero conocer" you said and he smiled "Pronto la vas a conocer, te va amar" he assured you making you smile as you sighed “aye no sabes el sueno que tengo” you sighed
“Y no puedes salir temprano?” He asked you shook your head “luego no me pagan bien” you said and he sighed his fingers making their way through your hair in a soothing way making you close your eyes for a moment “bueno cuando te recojo puedes dormir en el carro” he said and you nodded eyes still closed
But it did not last since your phone let out a loud alarm making you jump slightly and you realized your lunch was pretty much over “ya tengo que regresar” you groaned and he frowned a little “esta bien amor, te recojo entonces” you nodded and he helped you pick up
After he left you were back to work, it seemed like time went slow when you worked, you weren’t complaining too much since it was more pay but still it was draining nonetheless
Once your long shift was actually over you had picked up and tidied up the shop before pulling off your apron and hanging it up, you grabbed your stuff and the small paper bag which held a chocolate croissant that you couldn’t bare to throw away and locked up
Esteban was already in front of the shop waiting and he hopped out of the car ready to open the door for you which you thanked him for with a smile, a rule he had given you which was never to open your own door
He got back in and the car was so warm and the seat was comfortable for someone who was up on their feet for 9 hours “quieres algo?” He asked and you shook your head “no gracias, quiero ir a casa” you opened the bag ripping a piece of the croissant, after having a bite you ripped off another piece holding it in front of Esteban’s lips as he opened his mouth allowing you to pop it in
“Esta bueno?” You asked he nodded “muy bueno” he confirmed. The drive home wasn’t too far so you both didn’t always get much time together but some time was still treasured time. Esteban got off the car once more opening the door for you, you sighed standing in front of him, pretty close too
“Gracias por traier me a casa” you smiled and he looked at you in an admiring way a smile on his lips as he sighed “de nada amor, recuerda lo que sea para mi alumna favorita” you chuckled your cheeks tinting red and you looked down at your shoes “mírame” he said in almost a slight demanding yet calm and soft tone, you looked up but not without feeling that tingling warmth in your belly
“Cudate amor, por favor y duerme bien, vale?” You could not form words right away so you nodded “vale” you finally let out softly and he nodded his arms wrapped around you and you didn’t expect it, but you took it and let your arms wrap around his torso and what you both didn’t realize was that you inhaled one another’s scent, he smelled of cologne, mint gum, and cigarettes and you smelled like the comforting smell of coffee and your perfume
Finally you both pulled away after a moment and his fingers brushed the loose strands of hair away from your face, “bueno amor, ve y descansa te veo mañana” you nodded “buenas noches” you said barley above a whisper before you began to walk away and make your way inside the building, you saw him get into his car once he saw you were inside and you got into the elevator your heart pounding
You both never were that physically close and it was the best feeling ever but it was also the most nerve wrecking feeling as well, you set your things down once you entered your apartment and got to thinking about it all, your head was racing and your heart was still beating fast. Meanwhile Esteban was as happy as can be, he’s sure he can make you his, he knows it.
A/n: hope you all enjoyed!!!! I plan on making things more interesting just bare with me haha but also whoever reads this thank you sm and I hope you all love this fic just as much as I love writing it ❤️❤️❤️

UPDATING - Sorry It's Long
I am currently at work – and I need to update for the last two days. I had every intention of posting, but then I got tired and was like meh – the struggle to type words!
Anyways, I pulled up a Word Document at work to type what I want and then copy and paste. Work is slow à but this makes me look busy. Mawhahaha
ANYWAYS!
Sunday (Nov. 17) DAY 7 of trying to get my healthier life on track.
Before I break down my eating, I will say I did end up grabbing food not from home for both lunch and dinner. I almost made it a whole week fully sticking to my plan (minus the sandwich Saturday while at moms). BABY STEPS!
Breakfast – Pancakes, cheesy scrambled eggs, and a clementine – Oh and coffee!
I started of good in the morning – I chose not to eat all the pancakes I made and shared them with my husband. That was a tough choice, but once I was done eating I felt stratified in my food intake.
Lunch – Ordered Moes to the house – I had a burrito bowl, cup of queso, and chips.
I know I had food at home I could have made, but once I got home from dropping Hayden off at work and spending time outside with the dog I just wasn’t feeling putting something together. So, I caved. I probably should have skipped on the queso or gotten the smaller size. I am however not made at myself – and I didn’t go off any rails eating more once I was done with my meal. It was yummy and end of story.
Snack – Oreo pack (4 cookies) and some milk
Dinner – McDonalds 6 piece Nugget Happy Meal & Double Cheeseburger
So I ended up napping Sunday evening and missed dinner time – but when I was out picking up Hayden for work (which is around 10pm) I was hungry – so I stopped and got a McDonalds Happy Meal (because I had points for it) and a double cheeseburger. I know I shouldn’t have gotten the burger – it wasn’t even that great because the burger was burnt. Reflection here is key and I will keep that in mind going forward. Don’t eat what you are not enjoying – I know that’s hard sometimes when you feel like you don’t want to waste your money, but sometimes an unsatisfying meal is not worth saving the cost. The small happy meal would have been find on it’s on.
And that’s how I ended my 7th day of getting myself back on track. I can’t say it was a great finish, but it also could have been worse.
I think the one take away here is that my water intake really sucks. I really have to keep working on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monday (November 18) DAY 8 and the start of week 2!
Started off strong, but the evening didn’t go as planned.
Breakfast – Overnight Oats ( Greek yogurt, apple, vanilla almond milk, and oats) & coffee
Lunch – Chef Boyardee Ravioli, Salad (lettuce, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, goat cheese, pecans, and balsamic dressing), and 1 small bag of chili Fritos.
Snack – Small bag of chili Fritos (another one) & 2 mini boxes of Milk Duds
This snack was spread out through the rest of the day, but it really happened because work is slow and I got bored. ☹
Dinner – Zaxbys – Blue Buffalo Fried Chicken Salad & Ranch Chicken Fries appetizer
I didn’t go home after work and hung out in my car waiting for Hayden to get off work so that’s why I didn’t eat at home. Two takeaways – I didn’t need both items, and I should have gotten the salad with grilled chicken. It’s clear I am still in the huge process of working on my relationship with food.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think if I had made a post about Sundays eating it may have made an impact on my meal choices last night – only because it would have had my accountability more in the forefront of my mind.
TBH – I even thought about skipping posting about my eating, but that is the whole point of coming back and trying to get myself together.
As, I said in my previous posts – I am on the “baby steps” route and I have only just started. Just need to keep on going and thinking.
My next post will be a reflection of the first week – to help put things into perspective.
If you made it to the end and read all of this thank you!

#Tapatio #TapatioMedMacNCheeseQuesoBlancoWithRedAndGreenPeppersQuesoMacAndCheeseCup #LightSpicyMacAndCheeseCup #CupMacAndCheeseReview
I tried the Tapatio Med Mac N Cheese Queso Blanco With Red And Green Peppers Queso Mac Mac And Cheese Cup and it was pretty good.
The noodles were firm and soft and tasted like a lightly spicy kraft mac and cheese.
This mac and cheese was well seasoned and a little spicy which is good for me since I'm not really into spicy foods but it did make me cough a little while also making my tongue warmed up.
The spicy powder overpowered the queso blanco but made the mac and cheese creamy in texture.
This was lightly salty to me.
I would eat this again.
Got at Dollar Tree.

The Mari Lwyd Twitter saga (2020 - part three)
This is part of my efforts to transcribe @seananmcguire's holiday Mari Lwyd Twitter threads. The hashtag for now is #Mari Lwyd Project, the first post is here, the thread's source is here.
(Many thanks to @dor-min on finding and linking this one!)
There are a couple from this year that are short, and even single replies that Seanan likely didn't have time to reply to. So this is their collection! Authors will be linked in their comments as best I can.
CW for food, just in case.
Lorcan Murphy (Twitter): Alas were I only a mutual, Mari Lwyd I'd offer rhymes crucial. We'd barter o'er offering asked unpredictable Afore presenting a demanded varietal victual The dead from the living must bide dividual But this rhyme for the horse is purely volitional.
Seanan: Your rhyming's exquisite, So clean and refined. I'll grant you a visit, To seek cheese with rind, Or cheese that's been softened, Or processed or plain... When Mari Lwyd's summoned, She sings her refrain.
Cheese or beer! Cheese or beer! I know that you have it here!
Lorcan: Alas all my beer has been spilt in a pan And as unlikely it seems, my cheese melted and ran My flour and yeast in the oven to bake So I'm terrible short of scran you can take Bide if you can, I'll no make it a habit and I'll offer a pretzel and Welsh-German rabbit
---
Cassandra Khaw (Carrd / Twitter): A single wedge of manchego I do possess, Not a wedge nor a morsel more than that, If I was someone who had cheese in excess, I'd offer them to you, and have all your desires.
But lo, you bony equine, Such is all I can give: This lonely cheese of mine, I offer in tithe.
Seanan: To give when there's plenty Is glorious kind: But it's kinder by far When you've little but rind.
I am grateful to you, On this shortest of days, For your holiday spirit And generous ways.
---
The singles!
(I'm posting peoples' handles as I see them, will do my best here. If someone rhymed or made poetry and I couldn't find a 'do not repost' on their profile, I included it.)
John & Bucky: I’m just here to watch A skeletal horse seeking Cheese and wine through rhyme
Stephanie Annand: Alas! For the lack! Of cheese in my home; Will you accept yogurt As onward you roam?
Eleri: I have some ok parm, and a generic swiss A really good chevre would not go amiss This stupid pandemic has cut into my cheese-buying I'm afraid sharing these cheeses, the dead horse would send me flying.
Paige Wolf: Cheese and spiced wine You’ll definitely find; In my kitchen, I’ll fill up your cup!
Come in please, my friend! Time we will spend, In drinking and singing, Bottoms up!
warcabbit: Wassail, wassail? I give you mulled ale and a nice nutty cheese to boot.
It is the season Be kind without reason And generous with gifts and loot.
Stephanie Caitlyn: I do not have cheese, I only have curry, For when I did leave, It was in quite a hurry.
Into the headlights I peer like a deer, But with you I gladly will share my paneer.
Starry_Marie: I know there are many With rhymes that are better But one thing I do have - A large chunk of cheddar
@Chimaera.bsky.social: Oh Mare, at thy feet I lay Some Caveman Blue and olives today. Cambezola roasted with garlic cloves, Squeezed upon fine grilled bread loaves. A bit of Brie to melt your heart, A nutty Parm to fuel your start, Melted Gruyère to dip things in, & Queso fresco (you're looking thin)
Cake and Arsenic: Oh mari lywd, please don't feel down, With your big boney head, in your white cotton shroud, For you'll find that my larder is stocked full of cheese, And you're welcome to come and eat all that you please.
JLH: (not a mutual, but it seems fun and kinda inspired me) Dread equine I hear your call! And in my larder is a prize, A piece of asiago for your skeletal maw Please accept my gift and silence your cries.
