*remembers i'm not in school and therefore beholden to neither heaven nor hell nor any man's grading system*
*joyously shredding & tossing all my carefully arranged 3x5 mental notecards into the air like so much beige confetti. raising my arms in victory, cheering raucously until i accidentally inhale bits of homemade confetti*
(*coughing up itty bits of paper like a cat evicting a hairball with a firm understanding of tenants' rights*) wait wat happens next
French TV journalist having a hard time trying to get woman in the street to comment on Macron's latest speech yesterday
Protesters organised casserolades (aka banging on pots and pans) in front of city halls across the country at 8pm, when Macron was speaking, to symbolically drown out his voice. Later that evening, Macron was filmed singing a song with some 'random people' in a street in Paris, trying to show he can go out and meet people and have fun because protesters don't exist. The people he was singing with (members of a choir, some of whom are 'alt-right-leaning') were using a folk song app created by far-right activists that was criticised a few months ago for hosting a Spanish fascist anthem & Third Reich military marches.
The government's response was that the President "couldn't know the background of the people he met that night." Maybe if he wants to avoid being associated with the far-right (that's a big if, I know), Macron should keep in mind that with the kinds of strategies and positioning his government has adopted lately, people in the street who welcome him with open arms and are proud to be filmed with him have a higher than average likelihood of supporting fascism.
(seen at the Columbus Oddities and Curiosities Expo. ft. some of the biggest big game antelope - and one deer - for scale, it was wider than I am tall! and a wry nose on him to boot!)
In less than A DAY, we've hit our goal of $40,000!
Thank you all so much! Your continued support made this massive achievement for SEA representation in TTRPGs possible. 🔥🔥
Revel in glory, Kadungganan! This victory belongs to us all!
The campaign will continue to run for the next 29 days.
There are a few stretch goals still waiting up ahead, so if any of these catch your interest, do continue to spread the word about the project.
The Gubat Banwa Kickstarter was fully funded in 1 day! (But we've still got some neat surprises in the stretch goals...) Check them out here:
We cannot overstate how deeply we appreciate your support, it truly means the world to this small team from the Philippines.
Now, let us see this campaign through to the end of the far horizons, shields abreast and blades gleaming and heads held high with pride.
I am reaching out to ask for your help. My name is Imad Abunada, a Palestinian from Gaza currently pursuing a doctorate in France, focusing on Palestinian art and culture. I expect to complete my thesis in two years.
I work part-time to finance my studies, rent, and living expenses. My employer had promised to help my family obtain visas and bring them to France once they leave Gaza. To cover the costs requested by smugglers, I launched a Gofundme campaign and borrowed €30,000.
My family, consisting of 8 people, is now in Egypt without any income. They need $350 per month for rent, plus daily expenses, all of which I am trying to cover while repaying my debt, paying my rent, and financing my studies.
I kindly ask for your help in sharing and promoting my fundraising link. I am willing to provide any necessary documentation or proof you may need.
there is a parliamentary petition to fully fund trove. trove are one of the most valuable resources for historians, archaeologists, heritage workers and anybody interested in australian history, a veritable treasure trove (sorry) of newspapers, historic maps, images, and sounds, all available for free - but it is currently going to run out of funding in july. trove needs funding from the federal government to continue functioning, let alone continue in its mission of digitisation. if you're australian, please sign the petition and encourage the government to keep the servers running at the national library
