Potions

ok, so i had this portion written out a week ago, but i tried to make it longer, which didn't work out so i scrapped that. anyway, here's a thing

The silence to the enchanting room was stifling. Mostly because Jesse could practically taste Ivor’s anger, even if he wasn’t that angry at Soren anymore. He’d been walking a bit behind him for some time, but eventually, it got too thick to ignore.

Reuben’s pink-lavender bubble started popping comfortingly against his own bubble, which made it a little bit more bearable, but like they always say, it’s better to fix a problem from its roots. Or… something. There’s also the fact that Ivor’s bubble was too dense for him to just brush off.

With that, Jesse gave Reuben a light mental pat of gratitude for his efforts, turned back to face the man in front of him, and asked the first thing that came to mind.

“So… uh, what’s your ability, anyway?”

Ivor’s royal blue bubble shimmered lightly with surprise, and Jesse winced as it passed through his barrier with little resistance. He felt Ivor’s surprise as clearly as his own, and the inner conflict along with it.

Reuben snorted quietly at his flinch and he shuffled closer to the boy beside him. Jesse took a deep breath as the anger receded from the air.

At least that’s gone now. Other people’s surprise and confusion were a lot easier to digest than anger. Actually, most emotions were easier to digest than anger. Except maybe grief. He had grieved with several other grieving people beside him, once. It was not an emotion he was planning to experience again anytime soon.

“I can replicate potion effects.”

Jesse focused back on where Ivor was walking in front of him, “Potion effects?”

Reuben’s pink-lavender popped in interest alongside his own.

“Yes,” His voice was as taut as his bubble looked. The blue seemed to have come to a standstill, as if he didn’t expect that answer to come out of his mouth. “There’s more to it than that, but that is the simplest explanation.”

“Is that what you did to me at the keynote?” Jesse thought back to that moment a few days ago. Ivor’s royal blue bubble had stuck out against the other bubbles in the crowd, so he hadn’t been difficult to locate. When Jesse had pushed through the crowd and grabbed his arm, something had rippled through the blue and cut into his own turquoise. It had shocked him so much to see someone else manipulate their own bubble that he forgot to ward off the something heading for his eyes and it ended up blinding him for a few seconds.

He shook himself out of the memory, “I’ve never seen a Potion of Blindness before.”

“That’s because it’ll do its job before you get the chance to.”

“Oh… Wait-”

“Here we are!”

Jesse could feel a silver of amusement shimmer through Ivor’s bubble for a split second before it settled into a light, neutral feeling. If he could see faces, he bet he’d probably see Ivor try to suppress a smirk, or something along those lines.

Jesse looked up and stopped to gape at the various armor sets around the room. Reuben’s pink-lavender started popping excitedly as he felt Jesse’s mood change.

“Grab some materials and craft your weapon. I’ll show you how to enchant it.”

Now the shimmering beside him was definitely from amusement.

Rumor

I remember when the endermen came out for minecraft i was still like 7 or somethin and i didnt know updates came with new information/content. WELL i was also super into creepy pasta at the time and my SIBLING saw the endermen first on our little minecraft world on the kindle, and they told me it was slenderman and if i looked at him hed kill me and i thought it was true bc i thought slenderman was real. fun.
