Two British Fantasy Authors, a play in one act.
JRR Tolkien: So my epic fantasy has elves and dwarves and gods and demons and vampires and werewolves.
CS Lewis: Cool cool cool.
JRR Tolkien: What about yours?
CS Lewis: Mine? It's got fauns and a witch and a talking lion and precocious children—
JRR Tolkien: I like the talking lion.
CS Lewis: —and Santa Claus.
JRR Tolkien: ...
JRR Tolkien: ...
JRR Tolkien: What?
CS Lewis: Santa Claus. You know, "ho ho ho."
JRR Tolkien: I know Santa Claus! I wrote the book on Santa Claus! But you can't have Santa Claus in your High Fantasy!"
CS Lewis: Why not? You have Tom Bombadil!
JRR Tolkien: HOW DARE YOU

Prince Caspian's story has always been so funny to me cause him and his allies obviously agree that he's much too young and brash to be the king right now, he needs to blow the horn and call upon wiser and older leaders then he, so he does, and immediately summons four even Younger and Brasher royals😭😭 Like if his flaw is he's too reckless and impulsive welp not to worry, here's mad high king Peter and lying to join the military Edmund, is that helpful? Is that what you needed?
Also the fact they're kids😭 Can you imagine having a scroll that summons the greatest figures from history and it Does but it's that figure EXCLUSIVELY as a preteen. Imagine you have a button that brings Abraham Lincoln back to life and you press it and it's Teen Abe Lincoln

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book summaries below:
The Captive Prince series (Captive Prince, Kings Rising, assorted short stories) by C. S. Pacat
Damen is a warrior hero to his people, and the rightful heir to the throne of Akielos. But when his half brother seizes power, Damen is captured, stripped of his identity, and sent to serve the prince of an enemy nation as a pleasure slave. Beautiful, manipulative, and deadly, his new master, Prince Laurent, epitomizes the worst of the court at Vere. But in the lethal political web of the Veretian court, nothing is as it seems, and when Damen finds himself caught up in a play for the throne, he must work together with Laurent to survive and save his country. For Damen, there is just one rule: never, ever reveal his true identity. Because the one man Damen needs is the one man who has more reason to hate him than anyone else… Fantasy, romance, secondary world, adult, series
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can’t get rid of him. When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free. However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school’s resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He’s determined to find out what happened and tie up some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave. Fantasy, young adult, romance, paranormal

so here it is: would you rather wipe in the first room and watch your teammates stubbornly stand in morbol breath attacks or sit through gaius' ten hour long speech yet again?
my personal opinion is that the ludicrous xp bonus for msq roulette should NOT be considered when choosing, but I can't stop you

I thing the ideia of the reborns, of Will being literally the reincarnation of Sarcean, sometimes gets kinda misty in my mind, I mean, it's not like Sarcean possessed him and is trying to manipulate Will, like even our poor boy thinks, but he's >>him<<, in flesh and bones. Like yeah we don't know Sarcean but we also really do bc we spent two books in his mind, cause even tho Will sometimes is convinced Sarcean is this voice in the back of his mind, this dark part he has to contain, Sarcean wasn't evil, he was a >>person<<, he was Will, and yeah I know I'm not making much sense, I'll try to use better worlds but they're like >>the same person<< and yeah we know that but we also keep forgetting it
