                 Eyes closed, the lion contemplates the magic. I can already tell by the way his lips screw that he’s not impressed. When he finally opens his mouth, we’re going to hear it. Still, I can see the flicker of sorrow in his ear.

               Those green eyes open, staring down at the crystal in his palm, soaking in the sadness of the memory. Then he eyes me first, then the dragon.

               “Have you any suggestions as to how we may progress?” Malleus asks.

               “You two are stupid.”

               “Leona!” I hiss.

               He fully ignores my warning, focusing on the fae prince. “This memory probably means a lot to you, but did you really think this would be enough to work with?”

               The crystal shoved into his hands, Malleus’s guilt shows in his slumped shoulders. “It’s all I have.”

               Mercy flashes on Leona’s face but he goes on. A finger jabs at me. “And you, I recognize the genius behind using other people’s memories to trick your magic into thinking you’ve been there—” I glare at his own ego boost. “—but why would you ever think the memory of a vision of a place would work?”

               I retort. “I knew it was a longshot, but we had to try.”

               “Which brings me back to my earlier statement—” He folds his arms. “You two are stupid.”

               I glower.

               “Even if you did have a memory of this other world, what makes you think you have the magic to reach it? Don’t you remember the shit we had to go through to reach that place the first time?”

               “Then what do you suggest we do now?” Malleus is also somewhat irked by the repeated insult.

               With a roll of his eyes, Leona draws a stone from his pocket. The clear color shines with rainbows on every facet, taking in light and returning it much more vibrant.

               The dragon’s head tilts. “A refraction prism?”

               “Almost. This is a diffraction prism—does the opposite.” Leona swaps crystals with Malleus for him to inspect the newer find.

“With this, we wouldn’t have to rely soley on the magestones to increase the magic output.”

               “Exactly.”

               I put a hand up. “Wait, hold on. Refraction prisms are rare, let alone something that could do the opposite. How did you get that?”

               Shoulders drop and agitation sways that tail. “I’ve learned the hard way to never underestimate a certain cephalopunk.”

               A smile quirks Malleus’s lips. “You made a deal with Ashengrotto? What did he ask for in return?”

               “Aside from a hefty sum of money, he gets to cater the next big event I host.”

               Immediately, my hand meets my mouth. Guess that’s one less thing on my list of wedding concerns. At least Malleus is amused, I guess.

               “ANYWAY, when you showed me the blot damage, I figured power was one of our big problems, so I picked it up. Between the three of us and all these magestones, maybe we’ll get somewhere. If not, then it’s pro’bly a lost cause.”

               “Okay, but there’s still the problem of none of us having ever been there,” I interject.

               For a man who enjoys gloating, Leona loves to act so put out. “You two are hopeless.”

               In his palm, the memoric crystal glows, rewriting the storage with something new. I almost don’t want to believe the smug smirk on his face when I take the crystal from him, but lo and behold, Leona shows me a memory of poking his head through the portal to get a look at the prefect’s world.

               My eyes rise. “I can’t believe you.”

               “Is that anyway to treat the man solving all your problems?”

               A roll of the eyes and a playful shove is all he gets in response.

               “Then if all our problems truly are solved, are we prepared to try again?” Malleus asks, hope tinting his words.

               Leona lifts his hand. “Hold on, I got one more question. How do you know your little prefect is even gonna agree to come back after leaving in the first place?”

               Leona voices a concern I’ve only briefly considered. But now that we’re on the cusp of a viable result, we’re forced to truly consider whether or not we’ve just been wasting our time.

               Malleus opens his mouth, then hesitates. There’s loneliness in his eyes, a trace of fear hidden deep inside. “I don’t know. But I have to know whether or not letting go was the right choice.”

               “And what happens if returning to Twisted Wonderland isn’t an option?”

               A wry smile falls upon those pale lips. “Then I suppose Briar Valley will simply have to find someone else to serve as its sovereign.”

               My jaw drops at the same time Leona’s ears flatten.

               Brushing aside our gawks, Malleus turns to the center of the room. “Now, shall we get started? I’m eager to see if we make any progress with these new developments.”

               I give Leona a nervous glance that we share a moment. Still, we join the dragon at the center of the ring of magestones.

               Though anxiety bubbles in my throat, I clutch the memoric crystal in one hand and press my palm against the diffraction prism Malleus holds. Leona’s hand joins ours. With a deep breath, I focus on the memory in the crystal. Magic searches the threads of my memories for that other world. The concentration and effort draw sweat to my brow and fingers ache, clenching down on the stone.

               But I find it.

               I reach out, struggling to get a grasp onto the artificial memory. Even when I manage to take hold, it’s another story to tether that thread to this existence. Dynamism flutters at my palm. That’s when I feel the masses of magic flooding in through the diffraction prism. The sheer power feels like a lightning storm in my chest, nearly breaking my connection and the memoric crystal falls from my hand. Somehow, I manage to hold on, but the two men continue feeding me their magic. Every nerve begins burning as ink begins seeping across my skin.

               “This is too much,” Malleus says, the magic flow slowing.

               “C’mon,” Leona growls. “Don’t bottle it up; use it!”

               At his words, something in me falls into place, opening the flood gates. Their magic surges forward, latching onto my thread and causing the energy to grow. My grip tight on the line, I will the space to part, but it resists far more than ever before. It quickly begins to eat through my borrowed power. Releasing the prism, I take hold of the magic in an attempt to physically pry it open, but I feel the stone being shoved against my back and the flow resumes.

               “C’mon,” I hiss. “Come on!”

               With all my magic and might, I slowly tear open the portal. It fights back, but I am making progress. Muscle scream in protest, burning from physical force and scorching magic. Darkness begins gnawing at the tips of my fingers, bleeding across my hands.

               I hear my name and the magic supply falters.

               “DON’T YOU DARE, LEONA!”

               “You promised—”

               “TRUST ME!”

               Even more magic surges through me, going straight to my hands. With the magic of the two princes literally at my back, the memory clear in my head, and my determination to repent, the space finally gives way. Light floods through the portal, revealing the world we’ve spent months, money, and magic trying to reach. And a voice full of disbelief comes through.

               “Malleus?”

               I stumble back, hitting the floor. Leona’s hands support me, but Malleus—along with his magic—steps closer to the portal.

               “You okay?” the lion utters in my ear.

               With Leona’s distraction and the loss of Malleus’s support, I struggle to maintain the portal and it flickers. My hand falls onto the diffraction prism.

               “We’re not done yet,” I breathe.

               Tearing open the space between worlds turns out to be the hardest step of the whole ordeal. Between Leona and myself, we’re able to hold open the passage while the fate of Briar Valley lies with Malleus.

               Leona’s hand slips beneath mine, instigating the pain. Most prominently on my arms, the blot has spread under my shirt and is likely still crawling further. Even so, I’m far from an overblot episode.

               “You’re such a mess.” The inconvenience he puts on well, but his touch is feather-soft.

               I can’t fight the smile. “Having second thoughts?”

               Leona carefully sits, wrapping around me. “Nah, it’s too much hassle to find someone else to put up with me.” The side of his face presses against mine. “’Sides, I already knew you were a mess. And on the bright side, I don’t think we’ll be having a wedding for the next few months. Gives me time to throw some shitty party for that shady octopus.”

               Oh, the laugh hurts. “That’s so mean.”

               “Hey, he never said it had to be a good party. He’ll be lucky if I don’t make him serve Ruggie and Cheka for an entire day.”

               “We actually do need a caterer for the wedding though.”

               “I’d rather wear outfits designed by Cheka.”

               “Stop making me laugh; it hurts.”

               His chuckle warms my ears. “Then quit makin’ stupid suggestions and relax.” A kiss presses against my temple. “We got the rest of our lives for hare-brained ideas. For now, focus on that portal and leave the rest to me.”

               With a huff, I relax somewhat, letting my thoughts slip away one by one until all that’s left is Malleus’s portal. Except one thought keeps resurfacing between ones of concentration.

               “Thank you.”

               “Mm? What for?”

               “For everything.”

               Leona doesn’t immediately answer, instead tightening his grip.

               “I’m just getting started. Just you wait.”

               A smile cracks my lips.

               “I look forward to seeing you convince me.”

Rewriting/Remaking the Episode Shadow from Sonic Forces!

So, the Episode Shadow was pathetic in relation of Infinite's past, I have recreate the episode a few months ago and I decided to post this. There will be some stuff that I already explained in the previous post. Oh, one more thing, if you guys think that Shadow, Tails, Whisper and probably other characters that have suffered a lot, my guy, you didn't read this Sonic Rewrite.

EPISODE O: Zero to Infinite

 We play with Infinite, but here he is called by his true name, Zero. The episode is about why he is doing all that world domination thing. I don't know if the episode should be unlocked after the player finishes the game or when the player buy the DLC. Oh, one more thing, Mephiles is back... so this Mephiles here of MY story is from a timeline where he succeeds in destroying the world, he acquires so much power, that he traveled to other world/timeline to continue with his chaos thing, but after using a super chaos control, he loses like 90% of his power. Now to the Jackal Squad, 7 members, included Zero as their leader, and no, they never meet with Eggman, and the events of Episode Zero happens after Shadow the Hedgehog, the game, after the failed invasion of Black Doom (I'll change for this so you guys will understand in the future). The ambitions of Mephiles are simple, he wants to try something else, instead of spreading chaos, he wanted someone else to do that for him indirectly for his entertainment, like the butterfly effect. 

  In the episode we play with Zero the Jackal, the event of this episode happens in Valley of Broken Glass (it needs to be somewhere with sand, ok?) there is a cutscene in the beginning, and then you start playing a simple Sonic path, during the path the sun is dropping off.

Zero, running back to his fort in Valley of Broken Glass, not in a hurry, when he arrived, it was very... quiet... this is not normal to happen with his squad! He knocks at the door, no one responded, he tries jumping the wall, it was easy... but then he saw what happened, blood everywhere, a dismembered body next to him, it was Cinq, (to be honest I really don’t think SEGA would show something like that but ok) he looks up, right in front of him, someone holding Quatre, he was calling his boss for help, then the figure who was holding him in the neck looked behind... It was... Shadow the Hedgehog?!? Zero started to shake, why would he do that? Zero was terrified, he looked around, and saw the others... dead in all worst ways possible, then “Shadow’’ lowered down Quatre on the ground, wounded, Quatre couldn’t stand up. Zero grabbed his sword and started walking towards the enemy, then a dialogue happens here: 

“Shadow”: Ah, the Ultimate Mercenary, finally came out hum? What kind of leader abandons his own squad? 

Zero: Y-YOU! W-WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THEM? YOUR MON-

Before Zero could finish his sentence, “Shadow’’ teleports right next to him and start to whisper: 

“Shadow”: Shhhh, now is my turn to talk, you see your friend over there? I'm going to finish him off if you lose this fight, ok?  

Then we have a boss fight against “Shadow”, unfortunately, it is a battle that Zero cannot win, and he paid the price, “Shadow” with his crystal claw made a scar on Zero’s right eye, for his luck it didn’t blind his eye. Then “Shadow” brought Zero’s best friend right in front of him, he called for his name, Zero tried to attack “Shadow” again, but he punched in his stomach so hard that made Zero fall again, and another dialogue happens: 

“Shadow”: You think you can save him? Look around! You couldn’t help your companions, and now they are dead, because of your weakness, your friend is next. 

“Shadow” summon a sword in his hand, then used to aim right to Quatre’s neck.

Quatre: Boss... Zero... don’t look... please... 

Zero: N-No... NO... p-please PLEASE I BEG YOU STOP!!! NOOO! 

“Shadow” finishes Quatre right in front of Zero, in that moment, Zero has totally lost the ability to speak naturally.

(In this scene we could have the shadow of the moment when Quatre is killed at least)

Zero: … 

“Shadow”: Its interesting how fragile the mobians are, and how superior I am. 

Zero: … 

“Shadow”: Look at your squad, all dead now, didn’t had a chance. 

Zero: … 

“Shadow”: Do you know what each of them said before they died? 

Zero was paralyzed, just staring at his former best friend, “Shadow” started walking slowly towards him, then said: 

“Shadow”: They said, ‘Where´s boss?’ 

Zero started to have flashbacks about his squad. 

“Shadow”: G.U.N certainly will like the results of the missions.

Zero: ...

“Shadow”: Well, aren’t you going to say something?! 

Zero: …  

“Shadow” then grab Zero by his neck and pulled him up.

“Shadow”: Inferiors like you deserve to die, but I will let you live, I want you to remember this day forever. 

“Shadow” threw Zero to a wall so hard that it collapsed, in that moment, Zero was unconscious. 

After some time, Zero woke up, very wounded, it was morning and was raining, he started to walk back to his base, when he saw a pile of bodies all charred, Zero was destroyed physically and mentally. He started to cry, clenching his fists, screaming the name of Shadow.  

   4 months later, Zero is walking in the city, which one? Idk there is a lot of cities that is in the name of Archie and they wouldn't let me use them for some reason, now back to the story, he started to hear people celebrating the victory of Mobius over Black Death invasion (Shadow the Hedgehog 2... yes, we all want Eclipse the Darkling again right?), they were talking about how G.U.N with their new agent, Shadow the Hedgehog, defeated the Black Arms and destroyed the New Black Comet , in that moment, Zero was in rage, “How could this world trust easily in those monsters? Heros? No, they are not heroes, no one is, everyone is being a fool!” he thought to himself, but what could he do? He has nobody now and no means to avenge his squad, then he heard something about Eggman, oh yeah, he knew a bit of Doctor Eggman, he knows that G.U.N is after him a long time since the world was in pieces (Sonic Unleashed), the jackal decided to go after him, maybe Eggman have something useful to his revenge.  

  Then we have the Rise of Infinite, it's like the comic but he is alone, also, doing his new scar, he is using a mask that covers his right face, here we play again with him, destroy some badniks, manage to get inside of the base, until we reach the boss fight with Eggman. Something that I wanted to add is for the details of his depression, we can notice that we play with him after the incident, in this mission, he is more sad, his eyes aren't so opened, I created the AFK Stages, similar to Sonic’s animation when you are not moving him. 

AFK Stage 1: Zero will grab his sword and start to look at it with a sad expression. 

AFK Stage 2: Zero will grab a photo of his former squad with a sad expression. 

AFK Stage 3: Zero will start to cry with his head up and his hand covering his eyes. 

NOTE: if you move in the stage 3, he will do a rage expression, he keeps the photo in his pocket and return to his normal animation. 

  After the boss fight, when Eggman is about to be defeated by Zero, he tries to defend himself using the ruby, which makes it create a vision of the future, at least it was it look like, both saw the main base of G.U.N destroyed, and a familiar Hedgehog fallen, it was Shadow. 

Eggman: Shadow? Defeated? OHHOHOHOHOHO this phantom can really show good stuff!   

Them Zero takes down Eggman with a kick and grab the ruby, after a moment, the illusion disappears and they were back to the lab, Zero, after 2 years without speaking, ask: 

Zero: Tell me Eggman, what do you know about Shadow the Hedgehog? 

Eggman: What? Humm... well, what exactly do you want to know? He is the one who stopped Black Doom’s and Black Death’s invasion, he got a new alien brother called Eclipse the Darkling, he is the Ultimate Lifeform also creation of my... 

Zero: He is also the one who stopped you from taking the Chaos Emeralds to use them in... whatever you wanted to use them. 

Eggman: Correct... I have a feeling that you won't send me to behind cold bars, what do you want from me?  

Zero: We may not share the same objectives, but we share the same enemies, one of your problems is responsible for... let's just say that I want him dead. 

Eggman: Who? Sonic? 

Zero: Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog. 

Eggman: Uh... ok, look I was running some diagnosis with this strange ruby, and it seems to have a strange power, I don’t know, I'll need to study more, tell me, what is your name? 

In that moment, Zero decided to change his name, he didn’t want his reputation of Ultimate Mercenary to be destroyed that easily, besides, Eggman could find something and use against him, the more someone knows about you, the more you became vulnerable, he thought of something that would be the opposite of his former self. 

Infinite: My name is Infinite, Infinite the Phantom. 

Eggman: Alright Infinite, but I need to be sure that you are not going to lure me to G.U.N, why should I work with you? 

Infinite: I could just kill you right here and right now because of what you have done to our planet, besides, you know what I'm capable of, we both also have problems with G.U.N. 

Eggman: What is your problem with G.U.N? 

Infinite: I have enough problems with them to work with you... let me ask you something, do you know about the Space Colony ARK incident, don’t you? 

Eggman: …well, Humm... I- 

Infinite: As far as I know, your grandfather, Gerald Robotnik was working in a cure for his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik, am I correct? 

Eggman: Yes. 

Infinite: But G.U.N just got there to ruin everything, they didn’t only arrested Gerald, but they killed his entire team, and, killed Maria in the process! 

Eggman: Get to the point! 

Infinite: Do you want revenge? 

Ivo never thought of getting revenge on G.U.N for what they had done to his family, in that moment, he started to think more than the Chaos Emeralds, what were their use for? Destroying Mobius would be the last thing Maria ever wanted, he could reshape the entire planet, maybe creating an Empire! 

The Phantom ruby started to glow and levitates to next to Ze-… no... Infinite, then he hears a strange noise, like whispering something, then he grabs the ruby 

Infinite: We can both take them down, with this ruby, with my abilities and your intelligence in technology, we can destroy all the corruption in this world, so you can avenge her death and your grandfather! Just for you to know, if you accept this offer, I will need to search for allies, so we can work as a team, since this will be so big that not only two people will be able to retain control. What do you say? 

Eggman started to think, he looked at the destruction made by one simple jackal, and the mobian was right, in the future, he cannot control everything alone, he would need help. 

Eggman: Alright, we have a deal. 

They shake hands and the episode ends.

Story Idea: Dark!Serenity - Ep 33 Rewrite

I've been wondering for a while now if there are others who've asked themselves: how would a Dark!Serenity, the inverse to the usual Dark!Endymion, story go? How would it work? Like, I don't mean like an entire role swap like Kyralih's "Cardinal King" series over on Ao3, or the short time where Usagi is called Wicked Lady in BeeJ88's fic "A Twist in Time" that can be found on both FFN and Ao3, but like "instead of Tux's identity being known or found out, the DK injure and kidnap SM to brainwash her to their side". I think the perfect episode for that happening, in regards to the 90's anime since I haven't seen Crystal or read the manga, would be when Venus arrives. She's late to the party and the girls have since fallen unconscious when she makes Kun drop the barrier before they're crushed. Meanwhile, Tux has gotten 'Moon' down but he still feels she's in danger and finds that a strange device is attached to 'her', it must be draining 'her' energy if not 'her' life, with slots that he just knows are meant for the crystals in his possession. Does he save 'her' by relinquishing his crystals or keep them and let 'her' die? The choice is obvious. Only thing is, once the crystals are in place and the device shuts down, the sense of danger dies unknowing that V has saved the day, 'she' attacks him as in the episode but instead of Zoi revealing the deception he simply mocks the man for his sentimentality and falling for 'her team's' trap before booking it back to Kunz; Tux's too shocked, betrayed and hurt to follow. Zoi's exultant (they have them all!) when he comes upon the Senshi with Kun and V fighting close by and gets the bright idea to nab Moon. What better way to keep the two sides from allying with one another against them than to make the 'deception', Moon is Tux's enemy, a 'reality'? How sweet would it be, the Senshi trying their hardest to get their leader, the one who's the strongest magically, back while trying to defend her from Tux who'll want his crystals back, thus 'proving' Moon was wrong about him, while also trying stop their youma from gathering more energy until they figured out how to reform the Nijizuishou into the Ginzuishou? Moon fights as long and hard as she can but then Kun sees a strange reaction with the Nijizuishou, they seem to be siphoning away Moon's power. So Beryl fashions a collar or belt of the Nijizuishou to put around Moon's neck or waist, as an experiment, and lo and behold! She finally succumbs. Thing is, since her whole life's gotta go, not to mention she hadn't been outed as the Princess, she's given the name "Rin" meaning "a cold, severe and dignified person" when 'playing civilian' and "New Moon" instead of Sailor Moon as a play on words that she's a more 'improved' version of SM to which is also when said moon is dark in the sky and acts more like Serenity than Usagi (like the Generals, she fully believes she's been a warrior of the DK all her life) due to the suppressed memories of her past life not being inhibited or overwritten/overwhelmed by her current life anymore. Not to mention Usagi's family. Will they be made to forget, with possibly the extra angst of it being irreversible, be told who their missing family member is and why she's missing and run the risk of their doing something drastic in their attempts to get her back, or will the Senshi have to bear the guilt of knowing her possible whereabouts and can say nothing as her family frantically tries to find her and get so hopeful when someone calls in saying they 'spotted' her but it's always 'Rin', a mature young lady, she's nothing like Usagi and Usagi herself isn't that good an actress, with two protective older brothers who just so happens to be Usagi's doppelganger, just going about her life's business? And what about Mamoru? He doesn't know Moon is Odango and the Senshi obviously aren't gonna tell him; they haven't had their Elevator Chat, their Moment of Bonding or Identity Revelations. He sees 'Rin' and her brothers around but despite "everyone", the woman and said brothers too, and his own logic, not to mention 'Rin's' own personality and bearing, telling him otherwise he just can't shake the feeling that 'Rin' is Odango. It had started out as a completely innocuous comment during Untucked. Jackie and Jan had been talking about their time going out to bars and clubs in Manhattan, and more specifically, how Jan approached dating and hooking up when he was single.

“I swear, Jan has like a sixth sense, a bottom superpower or something. She can, without fail, always pick out the tops in a crowd. Sometimes it’s top-leaning verses, but it’s still a talent,” Jackie was saying with Jan nodding happily in agreement.

Gigi swatted her hands away. “Knock it off, I don’t need that shit spreading around. Doesn’t she have a boyfriend, anyway?”

The enthusiasm immediately left Jackie’s face. She felt bad for not having thought about that, and embarrassed, considering all the double dates they’d been on. “Right, right, sorry. But hey, don’t get too down about it. Stranger things have happened.”

Gigi had thought her feelings would dissipate with time. They weren’t around each other all the time, she was constantly busy. It should be out of sight, out of mind, right? And maybe it might’ve been the case, if it weren’t for the fateful text she got from Jaida one November night.

‘Did Jackie tell you Jan and her boyfriend broke up?’

Of course Jaida found out from Jackie, she thought. ‘No, when did that happen?’

‘A few days ago, Jan’s crashing on Jackie’s couch until she can lock down a new place. Said she’s been busy helping or she’d tell you herself. Apparently it’s important that you know.’

Gigi turned red at that, hiding her face in her pillows and letting out a groan until she could collect herself. ‘Did she say anything else?’

She rolled her eyes. “I told you so,” she mocked to herself. Leave it to Jackie to be a gossip and a know-it-all. Still, the next thing she did was check her calendar, hoping she would be in New York sometime very soon.

As it turned out, ‘very soon’ ended up being about ten days. And Gigi thought that was enough time, especially if she did decide to do anything. But even though there was a part of her trying to talk himself out of it, the rest of her had been drowned in the same feelings she had on set, and she knew that crush hadn’t dissipated in the slightest.

It didn’t help that most of Jan’s instagram feed was post-breakup thirst trap pictures. It had caught Gigi off guard, but she certainly wasn’t complaining, nor was she planning on deleting the screenshots of those photos from her phone anytime soon. Beyond that, she refused to show even the slightest drop of nerves when she got to New York. She was going to be the confident Gigi Goode everyone knew and nothing less. And she was going to make certain Jan knew exactly how much of a top she was by the time she went back to Los Angeles.

Once in the hotel, Gigi took a quick shower and changed into a clean outfit that was far more fashionable than the sweats and oversized hoodie she’d arrived in. Jan nodded, sitting on the edge of the bed. “I have. It’s the first time I’m living alone and… honestly, it’s freeing. It’s nice, but a little lonely,” she admitted.

Gigi nodded and sat beside her. “Well, you won’t be lonely while I’m here. I’m going to annoy you incessantly until you’re ready to dropkick me back to LA,” she nudged him lightly.

“You could never annoy me,” Jan cooed and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. “Well… maybe not never, but I’m still happy you’re here.”

Gigi had forgotten how physically affectionate Jan was, it had been a bit jarring at first. She had grown up with everyone keeping themselves at arms length, and normally that was how she liked things. But Jan was a hugger, a kisser, everything Gigi normally couldn’t stand, but somehow Jan was the exception. “I’m happy I’m here too.”

“And…” Jan pulled back to reach into his bag, “I thought we could do a little pregaming before we go out,” she set the bottle of vodka and cans of soda she’d gotten from the vending machine on the table.

“You’re the best,” she grinned as they fixed themselves drinks. “Cheers, to not being lonely tonight,” and they clinked their plastic cups and took long sips.

Jan took another sip and sat back down. “What’ve you been up to? Still a top?” she teased.
