I swear this Yugioh 'Crystal Wind Rin' AU/overall ARC-V rewrite is a freaking rabbit hole of ideas that never ends.
Like now I'm figuring out a way to work in freaking Gundam: The Witch From Mercury references of all things!
Tumblr media
Specifically I was thinking of how to give Clear Wing Synchro Dragon a full 'Windwitch' retrain based on White Wing Magician (aka, what we can pretty much assume to be Clear Wing's human form), essentially a hypothetical 'Windwitch - Clear/Crystal Bell' (because Rin is not kidnapped or mind-controlled in this AU, original Crystal Bell has no reason to exist) that largely shares original Clear Wing's stats and effects, except instead of getting an Attack boost from opponent's monsters she negates, she simply burns the opponent's lifepoints for that amount instead, much like other Windwitches.
Tumblr media
And I was thinking about what kind of witch's broom she would ride and thought 'You know she's already got Clear Wing's shoulder wings, so what if she has those four large petals on the end of her broom?' And then I thought of that mental image of a winged white witch with a broom that has four large petals on the end that can probably serve as thrusters and thought 'You know what that kinda looks like?'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The freaking Calibarn Gundam.
So now I'm trying to think of an excuse for Crystal Wing and Crystal Clear Wind Synchro Dragon to be sporting Attack Drones. And of course wondering how well Clear Wing and Rin could fit a SuleMio dynamic. Like if nothing else, Clear Wing is probably going to be acting rather Suletta-like in this AU.
And also thinking of a whole sequence where Rin and Crystal Wing go on an absolute rampage against the forces of Academia/Fusion Dimension set to AERIAL REBUILD from G-Witch's OST that is both unsettling and awesome. As well as both paralleling and contrasting Zarc's own rampage with the Dimensional Dragons. Crystal Wing may be enacting total devastation, yet this time she is not the aggressor here. And Rin might be right along with and even participating in this destruction herself, yet she is NOT taking any twisted satisfaction in it like Zarc did. Showcasing how Rin and Crystal/Clear Wing have both influenced each other over the course of their journey together.
Anyway, if you've been wondering why I haven't been posting any Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel or RWBY theory/analysis stuff for a little while... this is why.
Rest assured, I will return to my regular content.
Just as soon as this AU stops being so much fun XD

Actually, on a similar note to last post (abt ritual au stuff), it actually made me look into bracelet girl ace monster design a bit. Specifically around their faces.
The bracelet girl's ace monsters have a single unifying feature: empty eyes. They have eyes, sure, but they're a single colour with no defined iris or pupil - they look distant and out of place in comparison to the other monsters of their archetypes... well, they mostly have this trait.
And I'd argue its Natural Energy related (rambling below the cut)
Melodious is a little bit outlying here, all things considered - Both Mozarta and Bloom Diva are ace monsters, and both have empty eyes, so they don't look hugely out of place given each other's existences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same occurs with Windwitch - Winter Bell - even if half of the Windwitches don't even have eyes to contrast them. Fusion monster Crystal Bell is a recoloured Diamond Bell with some changed design elements, but needs Winter Bell as her named fusion material (Diamond Bell not showing up in anime at all does not help), and has the same eyes as Winter Bell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The phenomenon appears most obvious in Lunalight. Any Lunalight with visible eyes have more human looking eyes than Cat Dancer, of whom just has blank yellow eyes. (Leo added for reference on this, and also because of Duel Links.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its this same phenomenon that breaks as soon as Lyrilusc is brought up. Assembled Nightingale is the only extra deck Xyz Lyrilusc we see Ruri use, which is pretty fair to her considering it can close out games on its own effects (add Wagtail to her collection of overlay units and watch your opponent squirm),
Tumblr media
but then... we have Independent Nightingale. Not by choice, granted; Independent is one of the two Parasite Fusioner-made monsters alongside Crystal Bell, and- and what's this?
Tumblr media
So- So Independent Nightingale has the empty eyes, but not Assembled? And I did double check the other Xyz 'luscs, and lo-and-behold; it really is only Independent (who, now I'm looking at her, I realise her wings have talons on the ends.)
Anyway. Now we've gone through the ace monsters shown in anime (and at least one that wasn't but was very related), what would this have to do with the Natural Energies?
I have to talk about the girls super briefly for that. In order shown in the post; we have Hiiragi Yuzu (Flowers/Melodious), Rin (Winds/Windwitch), Serena (Moon/Lunalight), and Kurosaki Ruri (Birds/Lyrilusc). Each of them were made by dividing Akaba Ray up like Zarc was; divided by a Natural Energy interacting with the dragon it counters.
All of Zarc's Dragons have the same empty eyes trait as all of the above monsters (minus Assembled) - again, same order as above;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, if we take these things into account, imply the empty eyes should be dragon eyes instead (through influence of the Natural Energies). This, also then, implies that Lyrilusc might not be crafted to suit each bracelet girl as closely as the others seemingly were (I'm staring directly at Rin with regards to this), assuming the Natural Energies crafted monsters in their images.
But, Lyrilusc aren't the only birds Ruri theoretically has. Through Kurosaki Shun, who is her brother, we have Raidraptors. And we know he learned Lyrilusc to teach it to Ruri, so assumedly it fills the bracelet girl equivalent of Performapal existing before its Yuboy does? I think it'd be neat if it turned out she did know how to play Raidraptor (to everyone's surprise or not.)
By virtue of being giant mechanical birds, all of them have the empty/dragon eyes trait as the other monsters here (Rise Falcon for reference.)
Tumblr media
Does it mean anything? Eh, probably not? It appears to be a "this is designed to counter [dragon], because it was made in said dragon's defeat", which Lyrilusc achieves on its own anyway - low attack stats bolstered by repetitive attacking and just ignoring that your opponent has monsters.
Is it an inconsistency that will bug me to the end of time? Yes.

What are everyone’s teams in your Pokemon au? Do you have a plot set out or is it a more causal au?
Oooooh this is a fun one
You'd better fucking BELIEVE we have a plot set up, I have poured so much effort into the Pokemon au
Okay, so: when it comes to teams, I decided that everyone should have at least one legendary Pokemon in their party as a way to be faithful to the ace monster concept, but it wasn’t until much later into the au that I realized I’d failed to do that with Sora’s team, which led to a very fun plot point involving his secret 7th Pokemon he keeps in his box
Teams under the cut because it’s gonna be a long one, boys
Yuya has: Groudon, Sandshrew, Popplio, Hippopotas, Aipom, and Ekans
In his box, he’s got Phanphy, Charmander, Politoad, Ducklett, Liepard, Skorupi, and Lycanroc (Midnight form)
I wanted him to have as many Pokemon as he could that reminded me of the monsters in his deck, and since Yuya is a coordinator in this au instead of a regular trainer, it just felt right that he’d have a lot of different partners he could swap out for various contests
Also I’m mad that there isn’t a legendary dragon that looks like Odd Eyes, so I had to give Yuya Groudon instead, making him the only Yu boy in this au to not have a legendary dragon type Pokemon
Yuto has: Eternatus, Bisharp, Aegislash, Aggron, Lucario, and Shadow Rider Calyrex
Okay listen, I know I was supposed to only give everyone One legendary Pokemon, but with Calyrex I feel justified because it looks So Much like it could be one of Yuto’s Phantom Knights, I mean
Just look at it
Tumblr media
Yuto gets to have two legendaries to make up for Arc-V killing him off so early into the show
Aside from this guy, the rest of Yuto’s team just felt like it should be comprised of steel types ow the edge so that’s what I gave him. His Pokemon are as edgy as he tries to appear to be and that is enough to amuse me.
There also weren’t exactly many good Pokemon equivalents of his archetype, so I made do with what I had.
Yugo has: Latios, Scizor, Claydol, Porygon 2, Ponyta (Shiny), and Sudowoodo
Yugo was honestly so hard to come up with a team for because all his Speedroid cards are just like... toys and stuff for the most part, so I agonized over what I should pick for him for a Long time. In the end, I feel like I got close enough to his general aesthetic with the Pokemon I picked.
(His Ponyta is there because of Speedroid Horse Stilts, and while it is a shiny, the dumbass has no idea about it, and thinks he just happened to get a special blue horse that was born a little differently- he never claimed to be smart.)
He also deadass thought Sudowoodo was a grass type for the longest time. Rin had to be the one to tell him it wasn’t.
“Yugo. Sudowoodo? It sounds like pseudo? As in fake wood?”
“Ohhhhh is that what its name means? Wow Rin you’re so smart.”
No Yugo you’re just exceptionally stupid.
Yuri has: Naganadel, Seviper, Victreebel, Toxicroak, Vileplume, and Roserade
For the most toxic of battlers, I felt it only necessary to give Yuri an all poison type team. I included an even mix of plants in there to tie into his Predaplant deck, Seviper for the snake eye vibes, and Toxicroak... just feels right, you know. I couldn’t find any other poison plant themed Pokemon that seemed like they’d fit his vibe, so he gets a poison frog instead.
Yuzu has: Meloetta, Sylveon, Meowstic (Female), Gardevoir, Florges, and Jigglypuff
I tried to stick with Pokemon that had very feminine vibes for Yuzu, since her deck is comprised of pretty singing ladies, so Meloetta and Jigglypuff in particular feel very fitting in that regard.
Serena has: Cresselia, Delcatty, Glameow, Lopunny, Persian, and Pyroar (Female)
The moon vibes with Cresselia felt perfect for Serena, and as for the rest of her team, all cats and a bunny to pay homage to her Lunalight deck ^^
Rin has: Celesteela, Mismagius, Hatterene, Glaceon, Froslass, and Chimecho
Her team vibes with the witch part of her Wind Witch deck, at least for Mismagius and Hatterene. Glaceon, Froslass, and Chimecho are there due to the etymology of her name, where possible meanings of it include “cold” and “bell”, which I thought was pretty cool, no pun intended.
Ruri has: Galarian Articuno, Pidgeot, Noctowl, Chatot, Altaria, and Unfezant (Male)
Some softer birds for the soft bird girl, for the most part. I liked the thought of her team being all birds like her Lyriluscs, and just... yeah. They’re all very friendly birds that Ruri’s bonded pretty closely with. Also I made sure she had Galarian Articuno for no reason other than it is purple like her, and I think that’s all the reason I need.
Gong has: Kartana, Machoke, Samurott, Golisopod, Hariyama, and Conkeldurr
Gong was really easy to assign a team to- just had to find as many samurai themed Pokemon as possible, and fill in the rest with really strong fighting types, like Machoke, Hariyama, and Conkeldurr.
Shingo has: Type: Null, Dusclops, Misdreavus, Spiritomb, Decidueye, and Cramorant
With Shingo, I tried to go for Pokemon that had the same vibes as some of his Abyss Actors, and I think Dusclops is the best example of this. Tbh I am very proud of giving him a Type: Null because Type: Null is an amalgamation of other Pokemon, something that was created in a lab to be a fighting machine. There’s nothing natural about Type: Null, and it’s kind of terrifying to Yuya specifically, who’s always viewed Pokemon as creatures to befriend. This experiment created purely to kill... unnerves him, and serves as a very good foil to his beliefs when it comes to Pokemon.
And they were narrative foils
Oh my god they were narrative foils
On a sillier note, I chose Cramorant purely because of this quote from its bulbapedia page: “Cramorant are also rather unintelligent as they can't remember which Pokémon they fight in mid battle, but never forget Trainers that they trust. However, they try to attack their Trainers if they steal food from them.”
I just thought the idea of Shingo having this dumb bird that occasionally pecks at him over food would be funny tbh, gotta dunk on the rival at least a little bit.
Sora has: Banette, Vanillish, Swirlix, Stufful, Litleo, and Buneary
In his box, he has a Guzzlord
I feel like Sora’s team is very straightforward, as it’s a mix of sweets themed Pokemon, and Pokemon that represent monsters in his deck- Stufful for Flufflal Bear, Litleo for Fluffal Leo, and Buneary for Fluffal Rabbit. Guzzlord... is relevant later on in the plot after shit goes down, that’s all I’ll say for now.
Masumi has: Diancie, Sableye, Corsola, Aurorus, Tyranitar, and Lycanroc (Dusk form)
Gem Knight girl deserved to have a bunch of good rock type Pokemon, and Diancie is like. The best possible legendary I could have given someone like her lol, the crystal aesthetic is just perfect for her. Not much to say here honestly, I just really vibed with these specific rock types and thought they’d make a good team for her.
Yaiba has: Zeraora, Kecleon, Pangoro, Scyther, Purugly, and Stantler
So I actually threw this list together just now because I realized Masumi was the only member of her trio to have a full team, and that just wasn’t right. I tried to base this team off the XX-Sabers as well I could, but it was a little hard with how many humanoid cards Yaiba has. With his legendary, I actually chose it based off this monster right here!
Tumblr media
I think they’ve got similar enough vibes aesthetically for Zeraora to fit him. Scyther is based on Emmersblade, Kecleon on Ragigura, Stantler on Garsem, Purugly on Gardestrike, and Pangoro... Honestly, it just makes me think of Yaiba himself when I look at him. I think they’d get along well.
Hokuto has: Deoxys, Espeon, Grumpig, Starmie, Lunatone, and Malamar
Psychic type Pokemon just sort of felt right for him to have, considering that his deck is based on constellations and has an overall space theme to it. Not sure why that translates over to psychic in my brain, but you know what, it looks right, I love this team for him, and I’m not gonna question it.
I especially think Deoxys makes a good legendary for him considering it is literally a space alien, and Hokuto’s whole thing is space, so yeah, he gets to have the space alien.
Shun has: Galarian Moltres, Skarmory, Fearow, Dodrio, Staraptor, and Talonflame
Pretty straightforward team I feel- it’s all birds of prey for the Raid Raptor boy, and I just thought the Galarian version of Moltres was neat. Makes me think of his Blaze Falcon since they’re both black and red.
Dennis has: Hoopa, Mr. Mime, Delphox, Zoroark, Alakazam, and Hawlucha
Hoopa seemed like a very good legendary for Dennis to have, given his deck archetype and all, he just kind of looks like a little circus dude. Its unbound form makes me think about the swap Dennis has when it gets revealed that he’s actually been a double agent the whole time, and the play gloves finally come off.
The rest of his team... I feel like they speak for themselves. I tried to give him Pokemon that matched up with his deck archetype, so there’s Delphox to rep the fire themed monsters, Mr. Mime because it just fits Dennis’ general personality- and I love the thought of those two being friends and just copying each other’s theatric poses. Chaotic dynamic duo.
(Also: Zoroark's ability letting it disguise itself as another Pokemon is just another parallel to Dennis pretending to be one of the good guys at first, and I love it)
Shinji has: Buzzwole, Beedrill, Vespiquen, Ribombee, Kricketune, and Leavanny
I tried to give the bee man all the bees I could, but there are only so many bee Pokemon out there 😔 I knew the rest of his team had to be insect types to make up for it, so I picked Kricketune because he is just... a friend... a musical buddy who definitely gets along well with the kids. Leavanny is just a bug mom who also helps patch up the kids’ clothing when they get tears in them, which I just love the idea of. Sweet bug mom whose dex entry talks about how they sew for other Pokemon looks after her trainer’s kids when she’s not battling.
Buzzwole: witness the fitness
Throwback to the Smash Bros mains lmao
Crow has: Murkrow, Braviary, Starly, Swellow, Pikipek, and Corviknight
Bunch of birds for my Blackwing user... This team was partially picked out by June, and it was mostly meant for the Other Pokemon au, but I don’t really see a reason to change his team here. Crow is the one person without a legendary on his team, which makes me sad, but there really isn’t a legendary bird out there that fits his vibes, so as much as I wanna give him a legendary, he will have to make do without one. Sorry Crow.
Hoo... that’s finally all the teams down. Now I can talk about the plot! So, as I briefly mentioned in a previous post (I think), this particular au is inspired by Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum! It’s the era where contests really became a big thing, which is perfect for a lot of these characters because it’s easy to translate dueltaining over to coordinating in this world. Much like in canon, Yuya aspires to be as great a coordinator as his dad was, and strives to entertain people the way Yusho could. He’s not much for battling, and far prefers getting to show off his Pokemon’s talents in contests than anything.
Academia is going to play the role of Team Galactic in this au, which is incredibly fitting with their mission in canon: to remake the universe in their leader’s image. In this case, with Leo Akaba taking on the role of Cyrus, his intent is, presumably, to either destroy the universe that took his daughter from him, or create a new one where she can live once again, no matter the cost.
Sora being a key member in Team Galactic is a very big part of the plot in this au: his mission was to capture one of the lake legendaries, Uxie, since Leo needed all three of them for his plan to remake the universe, but things don’t exactly go well for him, and he ends up losing his battle against Uxie, resulting in all of his memories being locked away, and essentially making him a blank slate.
Side note: the Galactic grunt haircut reminds me a lot of Sora, I mean just look at it
Tumblr media
Practically same bangs as him, just add an upturned ponytail and you’ve got my son.
This post is getting very long... but I will add one last plot related thing to it before I go: Uxie can erase memories, Mesprit can erase emotions, and Azelf can erase willpower. All three of these lake legendaries play a very important role in the plot, due to being the keys to Leo Akaba’s plans to remake the universe. Sora was touched by Uxie, effectively doing away with all memory he has of being in Team Galactic. Yuya ends up touched by Mesprit in an attempt to save them, and subsequently loses his emotions as a result. Riley?
Riley had been affected by all three of them before the plot began, which is why she is the way she’d been in Arc-V: Emotionless, unable to remember anything about her past except for those brief, fleeting flashes of memory when put into certain situations she’d experienced before, and without any will of her own. She’s so dependent on her older brother because she quite literally has no clue what to do with herself without being told to, and needs orders to function.
Hoo, if you’ve made it all the way to the end of the post, congratulations! I think this is the longest one I’ve made... ever lmao. I hope you guys found it enjoyable! If anyone wants to know more about certain aspects of this au, feel free to ask! I look forward to talking about it more c:

Preview of IKIGAI, a SouRin Urban Fantasy AU Chapter 4: “Witch Once Hath Been”
WARNING: this scene is very dark - we’re getting more into the horror aspect of the story, and this section is explicitly gory. if that’s not your thing, just shoot me a dm and i’ll explain it non-explicitly. thank you!
background music for this scene
Sousuke is trapped in a shack with no windows, only a naked bulb swinging overhead like a backwards clock hand. Wind razors through the planks, scraping in the chill of winter’s storm. It is a moonless night, the time in which he is the most vulnerable without nature’s guidance. He lies on a table but is not bound because the vampire knows that Sousuke could never lift a hand to him – he wears the knowledge mockingly in his expression. The vampire saunters around the table with lifted chin, dragging a black claw across the wood and flaying it as he goes. Sousuke would be a fool to deny that the vampire is goddamn gorgeous: his wealth of crystal flesh is not modest, for his night robe is askew, falling off rounded shoulder. His skin is marble and his chest is defined accordingly; his family insignia spreads across his pecs, and Sousuke wonders if it hurt when the ink was burned into the vampire’s muscle. Sousuke hopes that it didn’t; he frets over the thought with dread, and no small sense of self-loathing. But no guilt could ever force him to abandon this table. He lies on his back with his palms opened in submission as the vampire appraises the meat of him.   “You’ve got an ocean inside of you,” the vampire whispers, the wind muffling for his voice. His hand snakes up Sousuke’s tunic, mapping to the right side of his chest. “I see it moving.” He means his blood. Sousuke contemplates if the vampire sees the entire world through a red palette, where crimson saturates depending on how much blood is near. Can the vampire even see all the colors of Sousuke? Does he know what shade his eyes are? Has the vampire ever dreamed of them? Sousuke waits so pliantly, his very demeanor beckoning his most beloved nearer. The vampire obeys what Sousuke’s gaze begs for and slides up onto the table with liquid grace, but he does not straddle Sousuke with amorous intention. He’s holding him down so that Sousuke cannot run. Sousuke would not dream of it, not ever, and his expression conveys this passion. The vampire looks endeared for all the wrong reasons. “Your heart controls you.” He bows over Sousuke’s chest, hands braced on either side of him. Long hair slides from behind his ears, tickling the highest point of Sousuke’s cheeks. The faint contact pours crackling stars across his skin and excitement kicks in his pulse, though he cannot help but feel a primitive sense of disturbance at how cold the vampire is. He knew that vampires were cold to the touch, but his mate wears a radiating chill of death. Sousuke dares a whisper in the intimate quiet between them. “Is that such an unforgivable thing? To be guided by one’s heart?” The vampire’s eyes are icy metallic, flashing as they dart. He inhales and they glow in neon pulses of rose. “Your heart’s natural task is to drink blood.” Lead drops into Sousuke’s gut as the vampire runs his nose down to the hollow of his throat. “It drinks your blood and sends it elsewhere in the body. It bleeds.” Sousuke’s eyes are forced shut by the weight of pleasure that binds him underneath the vampire. “Would that not mean you are still natural? If your behavior only mimics that of a heart?” The vampire sits back on his haunches, silhouette draping Sousuke in frigid darkness. The vampire’s shadow drains all the air from the world, and it feels neglecting.   He shoves Sousuke’s tunic up over his pecs and it reminds Sousuke of skinning an animal; the vampire is peeling back layers to find the warmth of Sousuke’s core like it calls to him. The vampire’s fingers sink through Sousuke’s flesh, burying in the buttery tissue as if it is nothing but soil for the vampire’s fingers to be planted. Bruises bloom just for him and Sousuke does not scream; he is so relieved to be touched that the pain is meaningless. His mate flays Sousuke’s skin to pry his ribcage apart, creating wings of bone that jut upright from his opened chest. He rakes through flesh to follow the song of Sousuke’s pulse to his heart, and when he finds it, the vampire purrs. The walls shake. The light bulb above spins faster, and the storm outside wails like witches dancing around a fire.   The vampire cups Sousuke’s heart in both hands before raising it from his chest. Blood vessels snap; ligaments shred and tissue pops, leaving the vampire crying wine as sprayed blood drips off his chin. Sousuke watches the organ convulse and it’s still red with life, quivering like it’s afraid. His mate cradles Sousuke’s heart and inhales against it. His eyes roll back and he laughs, “You should never trust anything that drinks blood.” When he opens his mouth against Sousuke’s heart and squeezes his fangs through, the vampire moans. Sousuke jolts awake with a scream climbing his throat. His forest is humid from the summer night, but as he pants, frost spills out. With wide eyes, he watches it billow from his mouth before fading, and Sousuke shakes with delusions, frantic to ground himself in what is hopefully reality. He fell asleep at the mouth of the healer’s den, hears the muffled crackling from the fire within. Cricket chirps flare with the distant rumble of slumbering dragons, and he hears the disturbing echo of changeling giggles. The comforting aroma of pack washes over him: fur sheddings, sweat, and broiled flesh from cooking fires. At that, Sousuke’s hand flies to his chest. It has not been pried open, but he still feels the creep of fingernails somewhere on him. Sousuke exhales, hiking his knees up to prop his elbows on them. Nausea rolls through him. Disgust and shame bring the pressure of crying behind his eyes. The dream haunts his consciousness before a name stirs in his mind. His eyes slide open in disbelief, and a precious whisper spews from him without control. “Rin.”

Yuru Camp△ 2 – 02 – Four Sunrises
Tumblr media
Rin arrives at Iwata, and it’s everything a gal from a landlocked prefecture could hope for: crystal-clear skies and endless ocean. Riding her moped beside the sea feels great, until the cold and wind get to be too much. Fortunately her mom recommended a tea place, and who should be minding the store but the mountain climbing lady she met at the Yashajin Pass.
Yuru Camp seems to be running with the idea that Japan is just a big small town, where you’re always bumping into people you know by chance. I don’t mind, it’s fun! Rin goes to the upstairs café for a matcha tiramisu set, and suddenly wants to set up her tent right there.
Tumblr media
Rin also visits the Mitsuki-Tenjin Shrine, but learns that Shippeitarou III passed away years ago, making Rin suddenly think about how short dogs’ lives are, even going so far as to text Ena her worries about Chikuma. Ena says she’ll be devastated when it happens, but it’s inevitable. All she can do is make sure her pup has as many good times as possible.
Rin switches gears from pondering mortality to getting a fire and dinner going. With no pine cones or twigs on the campground, Rin uses her knife to make a feather stick to start her fire, showing how there are plenty of tricks she still learning. After whipping up a duck soup nameko mushroom soba, she sends all of her pics to the gang, and Nadeshiko reports that it’s snowing back home.
Tumblr media
After getting a few hours of sleep, Rin gets up to watch the first sunrise of the new year from Furude Beach, where many others are already gathered and a torii gate is set up for the event. Toba-sensei elects to drive Chiaki, Aoi, and Aoi’s little sister Akari to Mt. Minobu.
They take the ropeway, pray at the shrine, buy some dango, drink some amazuke, and find a good spot to watch the sun rise. In both locations, there’s a palpable electricity in the air, a sense of anticipation in the literal darkness before the dawn.
Tumblr media
Then the sun rises in all her majesty, filling that darkness with blinding light and vivid colors. Rin aligns herself so the rising sun appears directly within the torii gate, as if a great spirit were emerging. Yuru Camp has previously displayed a gift for depicting sunrises and sunsets, but it really outdoes itself this time, showing us the same sunrise from multiple locations.
Tumblr media
As the day goes on, Rin is looking forward to trying out Iwata’s local specialty pig’s foot curry, but is tempted by a food truck selling pizza and pot-au-feu, and decides to indulge. Chiaki gets Toba and the others to hurry off Mt. Minobu so they can try to catch a second sunrise in Fujikawa City fifty minutes after the first—and one that looks like a diamond rising over Fujiyama’s summit.
While Toba-sensei drifts her Suzuki Hustler up and around the mountain road with the skill of a rally driver, they arrive to find the sun already high above Fuji-san—Chiaki was off by a whole half-hour. The last to see a “sunrise” is Ena, once it’s already pretty high in the sky. Still, I’m sure she enjoyed the extra sleep!
While Rin is starting to think about preparing to check out, she gets a call from her mom: Yamanashi has frozen over in the night, making the roads home too dangerous to attempt, particularly on a moped. The new plan is for her grandpa to drive out in his van to get her and her bike. She just has to sit tight for two days. Considering she’s a short walk from the beach, there are far worse places to be “stuck!”

Inuyasha Prompts and AUs, Part 2
Prompts:
Inuyasha's love life pre-Kagome (maybe even pre-kikyo)
The gang meets a blind traveler who wants a jewel shard because he wants to see his newborn son. Make it as sad or as happy as u want
A vengeful witch's spell binds (Person A) and (Person B) in one body until they can find a reversal (personally, I like this for InuKag)
Naraku dies of natural causes bc he's older than Miroku's fuckn grandpa
Kanna and Kagura gossiping about Naraku while he's away
AUs:
Modern Day AU, except demons have lived until the modern day and basically act like old men in 20 yr olds bodies
The Shikon jewel, rather than being a jewel, is a living crystal deity that only gains sentience when it is fully formed
Kagome is a librarian's assistant and she meets the gang when they're checking out their books
Inuyasha is a full demon and Sesshomaru is a half demon that considers himself to have better morals because of his human nature (he doesn't)
Kagome is raised in a pretty conservative Christian household. Everything is fine until a family of actual demons moves in across the street
Rin continuously tries to set her dad up on dates without realizing that he's single because he's really bad at socializing (hint: Sesshomaru's her dad)
Some bonus "what-ifs" that would be fun to think about and/or write:
What would happen if the centipede woman hadn't come back to life when Kagome fell through the well?
What would happen if Kikyo saw through Naraku's disguise and refused to shoot the real Inuyasha?
(if you headcanon Sesshomaru as gay like I do) Did Sesshomaru ever come out to his parents, specifically his father? If he did, how did it go down? Did it strain their relationship to an irreparable extent?
What would happen if Rin had died in the other world? How would Sesshomaru treat humans afterwards?
Would Inuyasha and Kagome bond as intimately as they did if Kagome wasn't a reincarnation of Kikyo, but still found herself in possession of the Shikon Jewel?
Would it still be possible for Inuyasha and Kagome to meet if Kagome didn't live near the well? If she didn't live in Japan at all?
Could Naraku have died peacefully as his human self if he had not pursued Kikyo so relentlessly?
What would have happened if Kikyo shattered the jewel during her encounter with Naraku/Inuyasha and was burned with the pieces? Would all of the fragments wind up scattered in Kagome's body and grant her fantastic superpowers (since they can't all be cut out at once like the whole jewel was) or would the jewel simply reform over time?

Beauty and the Beast: an AppleShipping Fairytale
Based on the Fairytale AU by @justanotherotakuandartist.
Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Neudonia, there lived a lovely maiden named Rin Hogan. She lived in Neudonia’s commoners area with her older brother Crow Hogan, who was well-known as the best horseback wizard among the commoners. And Rin wished to follow in his footsteps.
But everyone in the commoners area thought Rin was rather odd, for she was dressed in her brother’s old clothing and she was fascinated with an activity that was normally done by men. It didn’t help that her mint green hair was cut in a short bob style that framed her face. But Rin didn’t care, for her mind was currently focused on the yearly Friendship Goblet that was approaching in a few weeks.
Ah, yes. The Friendship Goblet. It was a glorious wizards event in Neudonia, which was established by King Jack Atlas. Once a year, wizards among both the elite and commoners would take part in horseback magic battles, with the winner having the honor of challenging the king himself.
Crow would have taken part in the tournament as usual, but due to him unfortunately getting in a horseback magic battle that greatly injured his back, Rin decided to take his place. However, while the girl wasn’t an expert on summoning creatures and casting magical spells, she had the unusual ability to control the wind through the power of pure energy, which she channeled using the foreign art of tai-chi. But she had learned to use her ability to summon creatures she has nicknamed ‘Windwitches’. She learned to control this power through the help of local freedom fighter Shinji Weber, who also gave her a strong, pure-white mare so she could participate in the Friendship Goblet.
One day, after visiting Shinji’s place for her usual magic training, Rin came across an adult man wearing strange clothing. “Can I help you?” she asked.
“I see you are trying to be a horseback wizard,” the man said. “That sport is very dangerous for a girl like you.”
“That’s why I’m training to get better,” Rin explained. “My brother is counting on me to win the Friendship Goblet for the both of us. It’s our way towards a better life.”
“This ‘brother’ you speak of is wrong,” the man said, gently placing his hand on Rin’s shoulder. “You should not take part in such a dangerous tournament. You are better off in my care.”
Offended and baffled, Rin stepped back from the man’s grasp. “Look, I don’t even know you,” she said. “And I don’t care what you say. I will participate in the Friendship Goblet!”
After that little skirmish, Rin was able to return back home, where she explained what had happened. “I see,” Crow said. “So this man thinks he can walk up to you and ask you to live with him? That doesn’t seem right.”
“I know!” Rin agreed. “He must be from another kingdom, because the Friendship Goblet is important for both of us.”
“Indeed,” Crow replied. “It’s our ticket out of the slums and into a better life. I thank you for taking my spot.”
“Of course,” Rin said with a smile. “You are not well to take part in the Friendship Goblet this year. My win will benefit us both.”
“So how is your training with Shinji coming along?” Crow asked.
“Very well,” Rin answered. “I have finally learned to summon a tuner. Now I can tune summon like you can!”
“How wonderful!” Crow said. “I must see your progress.”
As Rin used her magical ability to perform a successful tune summon, a creature witnessed the two siblings from outside their home. The creature looked humanoid, but he was clearly not human at all. The creature seemed drawn to Rin, almost as if he was attracted to her…
That night, Rin was awoken by a loud crash. Concerned about an intruder, she slowly approached the kitchen. Once she was in the kitchen, the green-haired maiden proceeded to light a nearby candle. She gasped, realizing a person wearing a dark blue hooded robe had broke in.
The person looked over at Rin. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said, approaching her. “I just want to-”
Rin slammed her knee into the person’s stomach, causing him to fall over. Crow had ran into the kitchen. “Are you alright?!” he asked.
“Of course,” Rin answered. “But it seems someone has broke into our house.”
The person slowly got back on his feet. “I must admit, you are rather strong,” he said. “But you must let me stay with you. I have been living a poor life for ten years.”
“Just about everyone here lives a poor life,” Crow pointed out.
“Who are you, anyway?!” Rin demanded.
“Yugo,” the person answered.
Rin was confused. “You want us to go somewhere?”
The person let out a frustrated sound. “Yugo’s my name,” he explained. “And I really wish to live with you.”
“Oh no,” Crow said. “We’re not dumb to let that happen again. Do you even know how many times people asked for hospitality, only for us to later realize they were spies working for the Neudonia Royal For-”
Crow was cut off when Yugo had took off his robe, revealing a rather monstrous form. His whole body was covered in thick white scales with sparkly green crystals on his arms. Light blue spikes came out from his head, one on either side of his face and one on his forehead. He also had a long black-striped tail, yellow eyes with slitted pupils, small fangs for teeth, and dark blue hair with blonde bangs that resembled bananas.
“Do I look like someone who would work for the Neudonia Royal Force?” Yugo asked.
While Crow was absolutely speechless, Rin let out a small gasp. “What happened to you?” she asked.
“I was only four years old when it happened,” Yugo explained, sounding a bit sad. “I used to live in the kingdom’s orphanage with other orphans under the gentle care of the great Headmistress. Things were going great for me, but one rainy night changed everything.
“I was sleeping peacefully when I felt a sharp jab in my heart, almost as if I was stabbed there. I don’t remember what else happened, but the next thing I knew, I had transformed into this hideous creature and everyone in the orphanage had apparently died.”
Yugo lifted his scaly hand. “I remember seeing fresh blood on my hands that night. I came to the conclusion that I was responsible for this bloodshed.” He clenched his hand and closed his tear-brimming eyes. “It wasn’t long before rumors spread throughout the kingdom. People have called me the Beast of Neudonia. They dare not approach the orphanage because of me.”
“So why have you come here?” Rin asked.
Yugo opened his eyes and looked at the maiden. “Because I was drawn to you,” he answered. “I feel that I must stay with you in order to prevent any more bloodshed.”
“Crow?” Rin asked.
“I think I remember that night,” Crow recalled. “We had left the orphanage earlier that day after I realized adoption meant the possibility of us separating. The sudden rainstorm was unexpected because the town squire did not predict it.”
“And you feel that my presence helps you?” Rin asked Yugo.
“Indeed,” Yugo answered, approaching the maiden and gently touching her face. “That’s why I feel that I must live with you.”
Rin was oddly drawn towards the gentle touch, placing her hand over Yugo’s. “I appreciate it, but I fear that you might cause an outcry,” she said.
“Then why don’t you live with him?” Crow suggested.
“What?!” Rin exclaimed. “But what about the Friendship Goblet?!”
“The Friendship Goblet…” Yugo said. “You are participating in it, correct?”
“Indeed,” Rin answered. “It’s the only way my brother and I can escape this life of poverty.”
“Let me train you,” Yugo said. “I, too, admire King Jack Atlas, and I have wished to participate in the Friendship Goblet for years. I also know tune summoning, so maybe I can give you some pointers.”
Rin looked a bit unsure, but Crow assuringly placed his hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry, sis,” he said. “The Friendship Goblet is in a few weeks. And if Yugo really is good at tune summoning, he can help you out.”
The green-haired maiden took a deep breath. “Very well,” she told Yugo. “I’ll live with you, but only until the Friendship Goblet.”
“Deal,” Yugo agreed.
And so, Yugo had escorted Rin over to the abandoned orphanage. It was still in good health, but it was clear that it was starting to deteriorate. “The rooms are still in good condition,” Yugo explained, dropping his robe onto the floor in what appeared to be his room. “You can stay in whichever room you like.”
“But what about the tune summon lessons?” Rin asked.
“We’ll start first thing tomorrow morning,” Yugo answered. “For now, we need to get some rest. Wizards should never take part in battle with a sleep-deprived mind.”
Nodding in understanding, Rin went over to another room, one that looked the cleanest. She let out a sigh, knowing that if she continued her training, she would no longer have to live among the commoners.
The next day, Yugo brought Rin over to what appeared to be a horseback wizards training room. “Before you take part in a horseback magic battle, you must know the rules,” Yugo explained. “They’re like regular magic battles, but with a few rule exceptions.”
“I know,” Rin said, petting her mare. “That’s why Shinji gave me Crystal Belle. Horseback magic battles require great multitasking with both riding a horse and using magic at the same time.”
“There’s more than that,” Yugo explained. “As soon as a horseback magic battle is declared, a speed charm is casted in the arena, prohibiting the battling wizards from using normal spells and allowing the horses to run without getting tired. Additionally, whoever makes the first turn depends on whether or not their horse is fast enough to take the lead as soon as the battle begins.”
“I understand,” Rin said.
“Before we can continue, I need to see how you summon creatures,” Yugo said.
“Very well,” Rin said. She proceeded to do some tai chi, syncing her magical energy with her summoning magic. And in a gust of wind, a spellcaster riding a bell appeared. She did the same thing to summon another spellcaster riding a bell, one that was smaller. And in a flash of light, the smaller spellcaster proceeded to circle around the larger spellcaster, until the two merged into a crystal-like spellcaster.
Yugo was surprised. “I have never seen a wizard cast magic without words,” he commented.
“It’s because of my magical ability,” Rin explained. “I can control wind using pure energy, and I have learned to channel that power using basic magic. It allows me to summon creatures, like this Windwitch known as Winter Bell.”
“Not bad,” Yugo said. “I can summon creatures too, but my summoning techniques are a little different.” He snapped his fingers, summoning a snake made of red tops and a blue pyramid die with a red eye. The die proceeded to circle around the top-snake. “Now watch as Tri-Eyed Dice tunes Terrortop, allowing me to tune summon my trusted Kendama!”
Rin was amazed by Kendama. “How wonderful!” she exclaimed.
Yugo smirked. “That’s just one of my tune creatures,” he said. “You need to create more of them if you want to win.”
Rin looked a bit embarrassed. “But Winter Bell is the only one I have been able to tune summon.”
“That’s why you’ve got me,” Yugo said. “But basic talk won’t work. Let’s practice.”
“I don’t see your horse,” Rin pointed out.
Suddenly, sparkly green crystal-like wings materialized on Yugo’s back. “Why should I get a horse when I already have wings?” he asked in response.
“Not bad,” Rin said, climbing up to ride on Crystal Belle’s back. “But I bet my horse is faster.”
“Oh, we’ll see,” Yugo replied.
And so, Yugo and Rin proceeded to practice. As the days passed, Rin’s magical powers became stronger. She had even learned how to tune summon other Windwitches of her own creation. Hopefully her magic would become strong enough to defeat King Jack Atlas.
Ultimately the day of the Friendship Goblet came. Rin was all set to go, but Yugo halted her. “What is it?” she asked.
“Another key element with magic battle tournaments is appearances,” Yugo explained. “You need to make sure the crowd favors you, and I don’t think you can do that wearing those old rags.”
“These were my brother’s old clothes,” Rin explained. “We couldn’t afford outfits for myself, so we had to improvise.”
Yugo proceeded to lead Rin into another room in the orphanage. “There’s a chest of costumes in this room,” he said. “Feel free to take any outfit you like.”
“Very well,” Rin said, stepping into the room. Yugo closed the door to allow her some privacy.
Rin looked at the chest of costumes, amazed with the outfits. But one outfit caught her eye. It was a beautiful sky blue dress with long sleeves and pink bows on the skirt. She never saw an outfit as lovely as this one. She had also found white boots, perfect for horseback magic battles.
After changing into her new outfit, Rin knocked on the door, indicating that she was done. Yugo opened the door, and he was amazed. “Whoa…” he said. “I guess you are cute after all.”
Rin wasn’t sure if she should be flattered by the compliment or offended that he apparently didn’t think she was cute beforehand, but she was blushing madly. “Don’t worry,” Yugo said, not understanding why the maiden was blushing. “You look great and your magic has become stronger. I’m sure you’ll win the Friendship Goblet.”
“Thanks…” Rin said, smiling softly.
Once Yugo put on his robe, he and Rin met up with Crow before the three headed over to the Neudonia magic battle arena. While Yugo and Crow went over to the commoners seats of the arena, Rin headed over to where the other participants were gathered. To no surprise, she was the only girl participating.
With all the participants present, a red-haired woman dressed in red and black and holding a matching parasol walked over to the podium. “Well, howdy everyone!” she said, speaking in an odd, foreign accent. “Welcome to this year’s Friendship Goblet! I’m Melissa Trail, and I will serve as the host of the tournament. I’m sure everyone’s all fired up to win as usual.
“But before we begin, I would like to make an important announcement. As all you common folk know, local participant Crow Hogan was in a rather unfortunate accident. But not to worry. His younger sister has offered to take his place. Now let’s give a warm welcome to Rin Hogan!”
The commoner participants applauded as Rin smiled and waved. She was happy to get such a nice reception. However, the applause was cut short when a blonde man dressed in white took his seat in the highest balcony of the arena. “Goodness!” Melissa exclaimed. “It seems King Jack Atlas has arrived. Your highness, do you wish to say a few words to all the lucky wizards participating?”
“I wish you all the best of luck,” Jack said. “But I must say, a girl among noble men is quite a rare sight. But fear not, Ms. Hogan. The rules of the Friendship Goblet remain the same, especially for you. If you are as mighty as your brother, you should have no trouble keeping up.”
Rin showed no fear as the king spoke. She would not be intimidated by his words, for she was determined to win for her brother.
“Alrighty then!” Melissa said. “Now if y'all can head over to the luxury rooms near the arena, the pairings will be selected. And as y'all know, the Friendship Goblet lasts for a good number of days, so everyone better take this time to practice.”
And so, the participants were escorted to their rooms. To Rin’s amazement, her room was the most luxurious room she had ever seen, especially with an indoor water pump with a magical filter to supply with her fresh water. She wondered if this was what Crow experienced during previous Friendship Goblets.
It wasn’t long before the first battle of the Friendship Goblet was announced. Surprisingly, Rin was facing off against Shinji. Upon arriving in the arena with Crystal Belle, she was greeted by Shinji and his horse Stinger.
“Glad you can make it, Rin,” Shinji said. “I was worried you chickened out when you stopped showing up for your usual training sessions.”
“As if I would chicken out,” Rin replied. “I learned more spells from another mentor.”
“Another mentor?” Shinji asked. “Then let’s see if that new guy really did help you out.”
With the two wizards on their horses, the speed charm was cast on the arena and the race had begun. To Shinji’s surprise, Crystal Belle had quickly outrun Stinger, allowing Rin to go first. Knowing that she needed both hands to guide her horse, Rin simply concentrated her magical energy through thought to successfully tune summon Winter Bell with two Ice Bells and one Snow Bell.
“So you learned to use magic without having to use your hands,” Shinji said. “Not bad.”
“There’s more,” Rin said. “Since I tune summoned Winter Bell using Snow Bell, she’s immune to all special abilities. But since I’m not allowed to attack on the first turn, I shall pass things over to you.”
“Very well,” Shinji said. “Now to see if the apprentice has excelled from the master!”
Things went well for Rin afterwards. After managing to defeat Shinji, she was able to battle day after day, fighting one tough opponent after another. I would describe what had happened in the Friendship Goblet, but alas, this tale is already long enough and the author shall waste no time writing about the more important details.
“Congratulations, Ms. Hogan!” Melissa said. “How does it feel to be the first women to win the Friendship Goblet?”
“I haven’t won yet,” Rin said. “You know there’s one last thing I must do.”
“Ms. Hogan, I think you have done enough,” Melissa said. “We don’t need you to go on and have get injured like what happened to your brother.”
“No,” Rin said. “I participated in the Friendship Goblet so my brother and I can finally live in luxury. I will not accept this win until I have done so!”
“But Ms. Hogan…” Melissa began, but Jack had already stood up.
“That’s quite enough,” the beloved king said. “If Rin Hogan wishes to do battle with me, I accept her challenge. After all, no women should never be excluded for things men are allowed to do.”
“Thank you, your highness,” Rin said.
And so, with Jack in the arena with his horse Red Demon, he and Rin took part in battle. It was fierce, but ultimately Jack had managed to tune summon his Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend with Rin almost about to pass out.
“I must say, Ms. Hogan, you put up quite a fight,” Jack said. “But I never planned to go easy on you. Any final words?”
“Not a single one,” Rin said, still determined to win. She tried to concentrate on summoning any Windwitch to assist her, but it seemed most of them were defeated. What was she supposed to do now-
“You can do it, RinRin!”
Rin was alarmed by that voice. It sounded like Yugo. Glancing back, she realized Crystal Belle had run past him and Crow. Suddenly, a Windwitch resembling a icy blue heart had materialized. It seemed that her newfound connection with Yugo had allowed her to create such a creature.
“What is this?!” Jack asked, alarmed. “You are not allowed to create creatures mid-battle!”
“But it’s still here,” Rin pointed out. “So the Windwitch Heart Bell still counts as an official creature! And I’ll use her to tune with any Windwitches in my graveyard!”
Concentrating her energy on this one tune summon, Rin let Heart Bell circle around the ghostly images of four of her Windwitches. And in a sudden gust of wind, a dragon-like spellcaster wearing a white dress with green crystals had materialized.
Yugo felt something odd in his heart, almost as if the constant stabbing pain he had felt for ten years had vanished. And everyone else among the crowd was amazed by Rin’s creation that they were unaware of the sudden glow coming from the dragon-human’s body.
“My god…” Jack said. “That creature looks just like the Dragon with Clear Wings!”
“Then I guess my newest Windwitch shall be called Clear Bell,” Rin said. “And she can automatically destroy any dragon creature of choice, then she’ll transfer all of its strength into a direct attack!”
Clear Bell raised her green crystal staff and blasted Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend with a magical blast, draining all of his strength before destroying it. She proceeded to use that power to attack the king, causing him to fall off his horse.
With the speed charm wearing off, Crystal Belle came to a stop. Rin got off her mare as she saw everyone cheering for her. She was so happy with what had happened.
Getting back on his feet, Jack approached the green-haired maiden. “That was quite a battle,” he said. “Ms. Hogan, you are clearly deserving of a right among the elite.”
“Not without my brother,” Rin insisted. “I participated in the Friendship Goblet for the both of us.”
“RinRin!”
Yugo proceeded to tackle Rin for a hug as he and Crow approached her. “And my new friend too,” she concluded.
“New friend?” Jack asked. He looked over at Yugo. “Young man, may I see your face?”
But before Yugo could reply, there was a scuffle. Suddenly, the oddly-dressed man Rin had once come across had ran into the arena. “There’s the beast of this kingdom!” he exclaimed, pointing at Yugo. “We must kill him before everyone in this land is brutally murdered!”
But without any hesitation, Yugo lowered the hood of his robe. To Rin’s surprise, all of his dragon features were gone and his eyes were bright blue. “Sorry, but I don’t know what you're talking about,” he said innocently.
“Don’t play dumb with me!” the man exclaimed. “You are the beast of Neudonia!” He took out a knife from his belt. “Now die!”
However, Jack approached the man. “Hello Leo Akaba,” he said, glaring at him. “I wasn’t expecting to meet you like this.”
Leo chuckled. “You must be King Jack Atlas of Neudonia,” he said. “But you know I am far more than a simple man.”
“You don’t deserve to be called by your proper title,” Jack said. “And my allies have informed me of the deeds you have done. Did you really think you would get away with your actions in this kingdom?”
“But of course,” Leo said. “While my past deeds are questionable-”
“You killed an innocent man, imprisoned his daughter, and kidnapped an infant princess!” Jack interrupted.
“Those are just strong words,” Leo said. “Their supposed ‘parents’ were only obstacles. I simply want what is rightfully mine.”
“I’ve heard enough,” Jack said. “Guards, escort this man to the kingdom borders! He must never set foot in Neudonia again!”
But before anyone could respond, Leo had vanished in a flash of purple light. Rin wasn’t sure what had happened. “Your highness…” she said.
“You must not worry about what you have witnessed,” Jack interrupted. “For now, I would suggest celebrating your win. You are the first women to win the Friendship Goblet.”
Life was never the same for Rin after that day. She, Crow, and Yugo had moved from the slums to among the elite. While the scuffle with that Akaba person confused her, she didn’t let it bother her. Because after all those years of living in poverty, she was finally able to live happily ever after with her brother and friend.

Honeywillow is 19 moons old and she has already found herself the perfect mate. It's already bad enough that same sex mates and cross clan mates are bad, but she'll be turning 20 moons the following day of the time in the story. The mate she gets is really sweet and it makes it harder for her to tell him about it. She spends every night with her secret mate, but is eventually caught by the pro lgbtq+ deputy. The deputy is fine with this.

I have some questions about the au that mainly revolve around shun
You mentioned him getting dark rebellion how does that happen?
What is his and rin's relationship?
Does he get arc rebellion and the raider cards?
And does he also get in a relationship with his dragon?
That's a good question and I'm actually glad you sent this ask because I've been so focused on the Rin side of this AU I'm not sure when I would have found a time/excuse to put these thoughts down XD
Anyway, to start with the second question; Shun doesn't really have much interaction with Rin, certainly early on. Owing to a combination of Rin having essentially killed Yuto while also having a lot of subtle and strange similarities to Lulu makes Shun extremely uncomfortable having any kind of interaction with her. This might change later in the story (ie; if/when I think of anything to do with a dynamic between these two lol) but at the moment there isn't much of anything here.
Going to your main question of Shun's dynamic with Dark Rebellion, I'll start by saying it is quite different from Rin's relationship with Clear/Crystal Wing. Namely in that while Rin very much becomes Crystals NEW partner in place of Yugo, Shun is more simply just borrowing Dark Rebellion while Yuto is out of action. With the dragon later being used by both Yuto and Shun.
Like when Yuto is first absorbed by Yuya and the two are initially trying to figure out what's going on with them and how they're going to deal with it, rather than taking Dark Rebellion into his own deck, Yuya, with Yuto's prompting/blessing, gives the dragon to Shun to hold onto. With Shun taking Dark Rebellion only with the promise that he WILL return it to his best friend one day.
This leads to Shun using Dark Rebellion a few times in subsequent duels, though his developing relationship with the dragon is quite a bit different from Rin's. For one, Shun is obviously NOT a fragment of Ray Akaba, so his first summoning of Dark Rebellion doesn't send the dragon into a terrified berserker rage. But at the same time, Rebellion is at first still rather frosty to Shun, not really knowing what to make of him.
Though this notably changes later once Yuto is able to start dueling through Yuya and Shun makes a point to return Dark Rebellion to his friend. At which point Yuto and Shun basically start swapping Dark Rebellion between them and it starts becoming clear that the dragon has come to respect and trust Shun.
Which becomes ESPECIALLY clear during one hypothetical duel where Shun is trying to protect an incapacitated Yuto (and Yuya) and is able to evolve Dark Rebellion into Arc Rebellion.
Basically, whereas Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon represented a full-on transformation for Clear Wing and how she has bonded with Rin as her new partner, Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon represents the bond and friendship that has grown between Shun and Rebellion, and their shared friendship with Yuto.
Notably, Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon also still ends up being created by Yuto in this AU as well, representing Yuto's own bond with the dragon. Basically, in this version of the story the various evolutions of the dragons represent them breaking away from Zarc and forming bonds with others.
And of course both Shun and Lulu are instrumental in the final battle against Zarc where they are able to rescue/purify Rebellion and working to save Yuto.
All in all, I'm not sure yet if I want Shun and Dark Rebellion to have a full-on romantic relationship in this AU like Rin and Crystal Wing, but they do ultimately have a very close friendship and even familial bond, with Rebellion essentially being part of the Yuto-Lulu-Shun family-esque group.

Crystal Wind Rin AU/Yugioh Arc-V Rewrite Ideas: Part 1
Because I still have this wild idea of Rin getting Clear Wing Synchro Dragon on the brain, I thought I might as well dive headlong into it.
So here’s what I have dubbed the “Crystal Wind Rin” AU for Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V and the many ideas and headcanons that have spun out of it.
Though one bit of clarifying preamble before diving in: While I’ll pretty much exclusively be discussing Rin and her revamped character and journey here, she’s actually far from the only character or plot elements to be changed. Rather than one simply change to this one character rippling through the rest of the story, this really represents just one part of a much broader revamping of ARC-V as a whole. What I’ll be discussing here simply focuses on Rin’s part of it, plus Yugo and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.
So with that out of the way; let’s start with the big deviation that kicks off Rin’s new story:
What if Yugo got kidnapped by Acadamia forces instead of Rin?
The impetus for this is pretty straightforward; when Yuri and the Obelisk Black Ops portal into the Synchro Dimension, Yuri happens to run into Yugo and feels this strange connection to this other boy that just FASCINATES him and decides he’d MUCH rather kidnap this guy instead of the weird random girl that his boss is so interested in for some reason.
So Yuri and his goons all jump Yugo and knock him out, with Rin showing up just in time to see her childhood friend get carted off through a portal much like how Yugo saw her getting carried off in the original show. However, in all the scuffle with the Academia goons, Yugo ends up dropping Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, or perhaps he oh so conveniently forgot the card at home. Either way, Rin is the one to find and pick up the card.
And so with no idea what the hell just happened and determined to rescue her closest friend, Rin takes up both Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, and the Duel Runner she and Yugo built together, and maybe Yugo’s helmet if that also got dropped. And just like with Yugo, Clear Wing resonates with Rin’s desires and portals them to the Xyz Dimension.
At this point Rin has essentially taken over Yugo’s role as the main Synchro Dimension representative/protag of ARC-V.
--
Rin’s initial journey is fairly similar to Yugo’s at first, driven by much the same motivation of tracking down and rescuing her kidnapped friend.
She even still has a duel with Yuto just like Yugo did, though it ends up going both quite similar AND quite different.
At the climax of the duel, Rin does summon Clear Wing Synchro Dragon much like Yugo did, though perhaps after Yuto summons Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, and it does still cause a reaction between Rin, Clear Wing, Yuto, Dark Rebellion and maybe even a sedated Yugo a couple dimensions over in Academia.
Except Rin’s and Clear Wing’s reaction is quite a bit more… EXTREME.
As in, less ‘unhinged lust for battle’ and more ‘total fear-and-anger induced berserker rage’. Like Clear Wing, Yuto, Dark Rebellion and Yugo are just starting to resonate similar to what we saw originally when suddenly Rin and Clear Wing let out a SCREAM of terror and anger before being consumed in swirling auras of power. Which even breaks the previous resonance and leaves a now-fully lucid Yuto and Dark Rebellion pretty much fighting for their lives against a Rin and Clear Wing fully consumed by a berserker fury. Which could be made all the more difficult by Rin perhaps having summoned Clear Wing with both Windwitch Snow Bell and Ice Bell, making her pretty much unkillable.
Basically, turns out a fragment of Ray Akaba summoning one of Zarc’s Dimensional Dragons makes for an extremely VIOLENT reaction.
And to add yet one more interesting wrinkle to all this; before all that shit goes down, Rin actually hears Clear Wing’s eagerness to be summoned just like Yugo did. Implying that Clear Wing didn’t actually know what was going to happen and likely didn’t even know WHO Rin actually was yet.
Needless to say, the duel ends about as badly, if not worse for Yuto. With his dragon ripped apart and himself defeated and badly maimed by the berserk Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. With both Rin and Clear Wing looking about ready to go after Yuya next when Rin has a brief moment of clarity and orders Clear Wing to stop before falling unconscious. With Clear Wing notably also looking ready to collapse from exhaustion and using the last of her strength to portal both of them away. Leaving a mortally wounded Yuto to perish extremely homoerotically in Yuya’s arms and merge with him.
As for Rin, while unconscious she is beset by strange and unsettling visions of fighting a mysterious pink-haired girl (who happens to look a LOT like White Wing Magician…), wild and enraged in a way that terrifies Rin.
And when Rin finally awakes, she finds yet more oddities. First, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon’s card now bares a strange, subtle yet distinct marking on its back; a strange square-cap symbol. Second, Rin discovers to her shock that she herself also now bares a mark of her own on her right arm; a strange mark vaguely resembling a wing, almost like one of those on Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.
Basically, Rin and Clear Wing inadvertently ‘marked’ each other with their respective powers. Rin marking Clear Wing with the symbol of the ‘En Winds’ nature card, and Clear Wing marking Rin with a very Signer-esque dragonmark.
Obviously, this will be VERY important later XD
--
Rin spends a lot of time after this grappling with some very conflicted feelings about Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. Confusion, anger and fear about what exactly is going on with the dragon and what happened to them both. Which is only compounded further by reveals that Rin always felt a combination of both wonder and awe at Yugo’s dragon, yet also an underlying apprehension and discomfort that she could never explain and thus buried and pretended didn’t exist.
All this leads to Rin being VERY reluctant to summon Clear Wing for some time unless absolutely necessary. And when she does Rin has to actively fight against the fear and rage driving her to go berserk. All while Rin is further beset by more tumultuous dreams of fighting the other mysterious girl, feeling nothing but fear and anger towards her in a way she can’t explain.
This also leads to Rin being a lot more proactive in trying to get information/answers from others, or at least is quite a bit more focused and intelligent about it than Yugo was. Which is further helped by Rin obviously not being a Yu-boy and thus not inadvertently setting off Yuzu’s bracelet-teleporter and thus giving Rin more time in the Standard Dimension with the rest of the cast and get at least some answers.
Unlike Yugo, Rin is a fair bit less single-minded in basically only being focused on saving a kidnapped childhood friend. She still wants to save Yugo, but is also driven much more to stop the Fusion Dimension, as well as driven to figure out just what is going on with both her and Clear Wing. This potentially even leads to her being inducted into the Lancers by Reiji alongside Serena.
Though no one is really able to give Rin any answers as to what’s going on with her and Clear Wing.
--
More ideas to come soon XD

Crystal Wind Rin AU/Yugioh Arc-V Rewrite Ideas: Part 2
(See here for Part 1 of this little series.)
So this is the part where things start getting pretty gay XD
Tumblr media
Like Yugo, Rin also ends up getting Clear Wing’s ‘evolved’ form, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon. However, the context of this event is EXTREMELY different, with both the creation and existence of Crystal Wing being FAR more significant to Rin.
Going into the Synchro arc of the story, Rin has continued to be gripped by her fear and uncertainty towards Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, as well as her recurring dreams and visions of fighting the mysterious girl.
Until Rin finally realizes (perhaps unsurprisingly to the audience) that this mysterious girl IS Clear Wing. And that in truth, Clear Wing doesn’t so much hate Rin, but rather that she is just as afraid of Rin as Rin is afraid of her. Leading to an all-important moment where Rin and Clear Wing stop fighting, sit down and, if not ‘talk’, at least CONNECT.
Which takes the form of a whole lot of cute and awkward hand-holding and reminiscing and maybe an intimate forehead bump.
This all leads into Rin’s Friendship Cup duel against Celina much like Yugo had. With Rin not only summoning Clear Wing with no issue for the first time, but also having the subsequent moment of synchronization not with Yuya, but SOLELY with Clear Wing, leading to her summoning Crystal Wing by tuning Clear Wing with Windwitch – Snow Bell.
In this version of events, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon is FAR more than just a cool upgraded form of Clear Wing. Her creation represents Clear Wing and Rin finally bonding and becoming true PARTNERS, with the ‘Crystal’ part of her name and appearance representing the snow and ice crystals of Snow Bell and the other Windwitch monsters. Indeed, this version of Crystal Wing has additional effects that tie her into the Windwitch archetype; if she is summoned using a ‘Windwitch’ monster, she is treated as a ‘Windwitch’ monster, and when negating an opponent’s monster effect, she can forego gaining an ATK boost to instead burn the opponent’s lifepoints by the same amount.
Basically, Clear Wing might have been Yugo’s card, but CRYSTAL Wing Synchro Dragon is RIN’s monster. To the point where Rin even notices that the strange square-cap marking that once appeared on Clear Wing’s card has now apparently transferred to the new Crystal Wing card.
This also leads to Rin and others referring to her dragon partner as simply ‘Crystal’ from then on, as the Syncho Dragon makes it clear that she prefers that name now. Crystal also starts making a habit to of appearing to Rin in classic Yami Yugi-esque spirit form (though I suppose the better comparison here would be Winged Kuriboh or Yubel) to chat, either in her dragon form or human form.
Tumblr media
Character-wise, Crystal Wing is generally rather shy, introverted and nervous, particularly when she still goes by ‘Clear Wing’. However, she always becomes extremely focused and determined during duels, even before she’s summoned. This leads to some amusingly awkward/adorable moments when she and Rin first start talking as Rin has a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that her big scary dragon is also an awkward, nervous dork.
This does change a bit after Clear Wing becomes Crystal, with Crystal having very much broken out of her shell and become much more excitable and energetic, though still fairly awkward and dorky. She’s also become one-hundred percent ride-or-die for Rin at this point and clearly adores her partner.
For Rin’s part, she’s often rather flabbergasted or annoyed at some of Crystal’s antics in very tsundere fashion, though also quite clearly adores her right back. And definitely seems to be falling for her pretty hard and quickly.
Tumblr media
And if this dynamic is sounding quite a bit like Suletta and Miorine in Gundam: The Witch From Mercury… yeah, that is pretty deliberate at this point. Like Crystal Wing’s dragon form probably uses crystalline attack drones now XD
--
After winning the duel against Celina and getting her new form, both Rin and Crystal are riding pretty high off their victory and are generally feeling like there’s nothing that can beat them.
Unfortunately, their next duel is against an ARC-V version of Aki Izayoi, which as I detailed in this Roseknightshipping post, goes rather BADLY for the pair. Well, badly for Rin certainly, whether or not getting seduced by a sexy rose dragon lady was a ‘bad’ thing for Crystal is left a bit ambiguous XD
Later during her talk with Aki, it becomes clear that Rin has become much too reliant on the burn-strategy and basic Windwitch monsters, having only supplemented her strategy with a single powerful beatstick in the form of Clear/Crystal Wing without having any real counters to a number of different strategies. Like Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon summoned with Windwitch – Snow Bell might be basically impossible to destroy via battle or effect, but there are also plenty of ‘non-destruction’ forms of monster removal, as Aki demonstrated by taking control of Crystal with her Mark of the Rose spell.
This talk is what leads Rin to start expanding her deck with more specialized WIND and Spellcaster support to help her deal with more varied threats, with cards like Pilica, Descendent of Gusto, Wynn the Wind Channeler, Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill and eventually the more advanced Windwitch cards like Blizzard Bell and Diamond Bell.
Rin’s talk with Aki also finally gives her some answers, or at least hints, as to what’s going on with her and Crystal. Because it turns out that Aki has her own dragon-mark much like she did in 5Ds, though rather than having been chosen by the Crimson Dragon, the mark represents Aki’s bond with Black Rose Dragon. Aki explains to Rin what it means to have been chosen and bonded to a powerful monster like Crystal Wing, and how this can be both dangerous and wondrous.
Also, as I brought up in the Roseknightshipping post, because Sherry and Celina also happen to be present, the conversation includes Rin and Celina getting an introduction to the fact that girls can like girls. And after an awkward experimental makeout session with Celina, Rin is forced to awkwardly apologize to Crystal for giving her a hard time after their loss to Aki.
Because Rin definitely gets the whole ‘girls are hot’ thing now XD
--
Rin’s role in the later events of Academia’s invasion of New Domino City and the simultaneous uprising against Roget is fairly different than what happened with Yugo, with Rin working and coordinating much more closely with the other Lancers. Basically, Rin is a lot more professional and level-headed than Yugo and at this point is more focused on stopping Academia with the knowledge that this will lead to Yugo’s rescue. Rather than just chasing after Yuri at the first opportunity.
It also helps that Yugo just so happens to SHOW UP in New Domino at the same time as the attack starts, having managed to escape Academia in order to reunite with Rin.
Of course what actually happened is that Yugo got implanted with the mind-controlling fusion parasite and was sent out by the Professor to retrieve Rin. Though the fact that Yugo possesses that classic shonen trait of being about as smart or subtle as a box of rocks means that even while mind-controlled he blows his cover almost immediately, which leads to a duel against Rin.
One interesting wrinkle to this is that Yugo actually manages to steal the Clear Wing Synchro Dragon card beforehand and uses it against Rin in the duel. Except Rin immediately realizes that the ‘Clear Wing’ Yugo is using feels entirely hollow and lifeless. Which in turn leads to a triumphant affirmation that the spirit of the ‘Synchro Dragon’ ISN’T ‘Clear Wing’ anymore, but Crystal Wing. Leading to Rin declaring proudly and triumphantly that Yugo, or whoever is controlling him, DOESN’T have Clear Wing, but that “she’s right here with ME! And her name is CRYSTAL WING!” as she summons Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, who easily dispatches her old form.
This leads to Yugo’s defeat, though he still manages to flee Rin and the Synchro dimension, notably still in possession of the Clear Wing Synchro Dragon card. On the one hand, this actually means little  to Rin and Crystal, as ‘Clear Wing’ is now nothing but an essentially empty shell. On the other hand… this will still have some ramifications later XD
However, the battle for New Domino still has one final wrinkle for Rin and Crystal.
Towards the end of the battle, possibly directly following her duel with Yugo, Rin is ambushed by Academia forces, with one particular Obelisk Force goon trying to get a cheap shot off at her. Only for Crystal Wing to intervene in full dragon form.
Tumblr media
Specifically, with an Aeriel-brand SLAP.
She then proceeds to traumatize Rin further by tearing through the other goons before popping back into human form and cheerfully ask Rin if she’s alright, clearly seeing nothing wrong with having just ruthlessly slaughtered some dudes with a cheerful smile.
Thus giving Rin and the audience the biggest indicator so far of just how ruthless the dimension dragons can be, and that there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with them.
Tumblr media
Yeah remember how I said I was using Suletta as a character-template for Clear/Crystal Wing? Turns out there are some VERY nice potential parallels that can be worked in XD
