Since y’all liked me getting beaten down by GX characters so much, here’s:
Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Characters ranked by how easily I could take them in a fight
same rules apply: fisticuffs only and my personal feelings about the characters do not matter
also since ARC-V is WEIRD AF when it comes to characters this will be characters that are exclusive to ARC-V. so no repeat of Asuka. We already know I bite harder than she does.
without further ado, here we go:
Reira Akaba. No shit. is literally a baby. if I was a baby kicking kind of person I could punt her into the sun. However as I do not kick babies I am more inclined to wrap her in a lil blanket and put her in the corner.
Yuya Sakaki. Bitch. One good step on his toes and he’s going “reaction shot?!” I pull on his stupid fuckin goggles and snap them back onto his face. he’s down. count to ten.
Yuzu Hiragi. Canonically the bracelet girls really suck at holding their own at any given moment. Yuzu is the weakest physically because she has never seen war or hardship to the level of the other three. I could take her in four seconds. pigtail tug time.
Yuri. The second weakest physically of the Yu boys. has been coddled by Leo for years. probably sparred with Sho at the academy to make himself feel better about having 0% body weight from muscles. eat shit you purple motherfucker.
Dennis McField. not only would I beat him, I would enjoy doing it. I’d love to curbstomp that motherfucker off a boat, except he already did that to himself. physically he is a fuckin twig and I am five feet seven inches of pure unadulterated god complex. he’ll wish I turned his ass into a card.
Reiji Akaba. the scarf works to his detriment. I do two laps around him holding the end of that thing and suddenly his face is turning blue and he’s calling for papa. unfortunately for him I have zero mercy.
Rin. again, the bracelet girls are notoriously bad at being strong independent women. we literally don’t see Rin for most of the series because she got herself kidnapped off the cuff. that being said she could probably hold her own against me, but I think she’s too sweet for that.
Z-ARC. We’ve established I bite. even outside of human form, if you look at him, he’s got a fuck ton of exposed veins, both as regular Z-ARC and Yuya Z-ARC. chompy chompy motherfucker you’ll pass out from the blood loss before I can kick your ass properly.
Yugo. Canonically relies on his motorcycle for fuckin everything. lost to Yuri because he rolled a nat one on his constitution saving throw. even though he’s probably physically in shape from motorcycle stuff I could flick him in the forehead and he’d be whining like a baby. If I got the first shot in, I’d have a 99% chance of winning. If he got to me first it would go to about 60%. again, I bite.
Leo Akaba. Here’s where we get into characters that have a greater than 50% chance of beating me. Leo is canonically ripped and also has zero emotions. I would only win if I got close enough for a nut kick, but there’s only one person who wants to be that close to Leo Akaba and it sure as hell ain’t me.
Sora Shuin’in. Holy fuck who let their feral cat off its leash. Sora is literally insane and I am requesting backup. He’d shove that lollipop so far up my ass that I’d be able to tell whether it was lime or green apple. I live in fear of Sora suddenly materializing in my room
Ruri Kurosaki. Remember how I bite? She bites harder. She puts up with No Shit and also has No Fucks To Give.
Serena. No further explanation needed. I fear that explaining it further would cause Feral Child #2 to burst into my brain and start kicking.
Yusho Sakaki. Sweet mother of blue eyes white dragon. remember how I said my personal feelings don’t matter? now they do. smash. next question. wait what were we talking about?
Shun Kurosaki. kinda lost the plot on Yusho but we’re back on track now. Shun canonically took out armed guards by Batmanning his ass up a wall. There’s posters up for him that say “lost dog” and the caption is just “if you find him please keep him”.
Yuto. Everything that Shun is + Ruri taught him how to effectively bite.
Noburu Gongenzaka. he is actually ripped and wears cement shoes for funzies. he could probably just stomp once and my shaky joints would give out on their own. bye.
Yoko Sakaki. canonically beat the stuffing out of people in her past life and I would let her. angry mom energy means I barely make it out alive. smash. wait— shit—

Crystal Wind Rin AU/Yugioh Arc-V Rewrite Ideas: Part 3 - Developing the Dragons
(See Part 1 and Part 2 of this little series, among others. And also this one ask I answered that actually becomes relevant here.)
Following the Synchro arc, Rin’s role in events continue to deviate heavily from Yugo’s original one. Namely that she continues to work much more closely with the Lancers. In particular, Crystal Wing’s ability to travel between dimensions becomes much more important.
Like when Roget’s portal escape plan blows up in his face, here only a couple or more characters get sucked through rather than the whole team (say, just Yuzu), leaving the rest to try and figure out a way to follow. Which is when Crystal previously teleporting herself and Rin is brought up, and unlike Yugo, Rin is simply able to straight up ask her dragon partner to transport them.
Though it turns out that Crystal has never been entirely sure how she’s able to teleport, nor does she really know how to teleport accurately. Like how when she first teleported herself and Rin to try and chase after Yugo’s kidnappers, they ended up in the Xyz Dimension. Crystal is pretty sure she can teleport to a place she’s already been to, but for anywhere new like the Fusion Dimension, it’s basically a dice-roll.
So either the heroes decide to try their luck with that dice-roll, or simply head to the Xyz Dimension (since Crystal can teleport them there) where there is still enough of an Academia presence that they can hopefully find a way to break into the Fusion Dimension from there.
Either way, most of the Lancers end up in the ruins of Heartland City much like they did originally.
And being exposed to the image and effects of this ruined city has a very interesting effect on Crystal Wing.
At this point, Rin is still very unsettled by just how cheerfully Crystal slaughtered those Academia goons, though rather than being afraid of Crystal like she was in the past, Rin is afraid FOR her partner.
But the more time the Lancers spend trekking through the ruins of the city, fighting Academia forces and doing what they can to help survivors and refugees, Rin quickly notices that Crystal is acting strange. Confused, nervous and even afraid at the sight of the devastation and suffering in ways she can’t explain to Rin. Lashing out at Academia forces yet freezing up at the sight of refugees.
Of course what’s actually going on is that Crystal is getting flashbacks to the rampages she and the other dragons went on at Zarc’s command, as well as being confronted with the consequences of all that death and destruction. This is when we start getting the major hints as to what the four dragons were doing at Zarc’s command, with this arc also having Odd-Eyes and Dark Rebellion undergoing similar ‘Were we the bad guys?’ realizations. As well as a start of characterizing Zarc as having been essentially a manipulative and abusive parent-figure to the dragons.
Each of the three dragons with our heroes take this growing realization in distinct but similarly BAD ways, with their respective partners and friends each having their own way of trying to help them.
Odd-Eyes takes a very classic ‘curl up in a self-defensive ball and try to push everyone away’ with a ‘Don’t come near me! I’ll only hurt you!’ attitude. With Yuya giving his partner a likewise classic All-Loving-Hero ‘You’re not a monster’ pep-talk. Which ties into his own journey across the story thus-far and drive to make people smile, and how Odd-Eyes has helped him every step of the way. That it doesn’t matter who he used to be and that he doesn’t have to hurt anyone ever again.
Dark Rebellion takes a more subdued but much more personal reaction of trying to shut out the others, as he feels especially guilty and unworthy towards Yuto and Shun. Given that the destruction he caused was all too similar to what his friends suffered. And rather than any high-minded, optimistic pep-talk, Yuto and Shun simply offer Rebellion forgiveness for what he did. Which again is particularly poignant given their history.
Finally, Crystal Wing takes perhaps the most extreme reaction of lashing out in a very ‘I’m a terrible person and you should hate me!’ response, particularly aimed at Rin. Which in turn represents a major hint towards Rin’s past as Ray, implying that Crystal is already figuring out just who Rin used to be. And Rin responds to this with some ‘You’re not a monster’ and ‘What you used to be doesn’t have to define you now’, but most of all that she could NEVER hate Crystal. That regardless of who she was or what she did, Rin will ALWAYS be with her. Showing that Rin is actually just as completely ride-or-die for Crystal as Crystal is for her, and giving a hint to just how different Rin has grown from Ray.
Of course this might not be the healthiest approach to take, but Rin still has a bit of the ‘everyone for themself’ mindset that growing up in the Commons instilled in her, and after losing Yugo she’s pretty desperate not to lose Crystal too. So she is with Crystal no matter what, including overlooking the murder of a few hundred/thousand/million people. Basically, Rin and Crystal are just a bit mutually dysfunctional/codependent/toxic, but hey that’s what makes these relationships fun XD
Also, Rin’s and Crystal’s big talk/argument/reconciliation probably also ends with their first big, dramatic kiss. :D
Now, all of these arcs for the dragons don’t exactly play out all right at the same time, but rather are rather touched on and drawn out across the entire arc and possibly even the rest of the story.
Though one major payoff for Crystal comes later in the Xyz arc when the heroes are about to/already assaulting the Academia HQ in Heartland, only to discover that there is an army of Obelisk forces about to attack the refugee camps. With the heroes debating whether to call off their attack or to somehow split their forces to go help, Crystal speaks up that she and Rin can handle it.
Of course most everyone immediately realizes what Crystal is suggesting, with Rin in particular being very adamant in asking Crystal if she’s really okay with what she’s thinking of doing.
But as far as Crystal believes, she is a destroyer. At least this way, she can use what she is to help and protect people who need it.
And of course, Rin is absolutely behind Crystal and is going with her. And while some characters like Yuya question if this is really a good idea, the rest agree that it’s the best plan they have.
So Rin and Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon speed off and proceed to go on an absolute RAMPAGE on the Obelisk forces, one that is darkly reminiscent of the flashbacks/visions of the destruction the dragons once inflicted on the original dimension. We see Crystal Wing tear through hundreds of Ancient Gear Hounds and even a number of Chaos Giants, only growing with power as they try to fight back. Unleashing massive blasts of energy tearing through monsters and duelists alike. All while Rin stands atop Crystal Wing with a look of grim determination and acceptance, even bringing in her other Windwitches to help in the battle.
Thus providing a dark parallel as well as a striking contrast to the dragons’ previous rampage through the Original Dimension. Where they once inflicted terrible devastation on countless innocents at the whim of their sadistic master, now Crystal is turning her destructive power on others who have inflicted terrible devastation, in order to PROTECT innocents in danger. Alongside a partner who views all this not with sadistic pleasure, but grim determination and concern for Crystal.
And during all this, we see Leo Akaba actually witnessing all this from the Fusion Dimension with what can only be described as overwhelming horrified disbelief. Watching one of Zarc’s dragons enact terrible destruction in a way that absolutely gives him traumatic flashbacks, but alongside one of the fragments of HIS DAUGHTER. The sight of a fragment of his daughter Ray not only with one of Zarc’s terrible dragons, but seemingly HELPING it in a rampage of destruction pretty much sends Leo into an enraged, terrified breakdown.
All while being entirely oblivious to the irony that said fragment and dragon are fighting AGAINST the terrible destruction that HE caused.

I'm under the belief that Leo Pre-Ray's "death" and the Destruction of the Original Dimension used to be a decent dude but the "death" of his daughter and the destruction of his home kinda drove him...loopy.
It does fit with the flashback showing him and Ray having a decent relationship to the point of sacrificing herself because she didn't wanna lose him and that before he got his memory back he seemed to be ok chilling with his family and Yusho in Standard. Plus it does parallel him with Zarc who used to be a cool dude too but the audience drove him loopy as well.
#Yugioh ARC-V#YGO Arc V#Yu-Gi-Oh#Leo Akaba#Ray Akaba#Zarc#Yeah yeah it doesn't justify the shit he pulled and all that#I never said that it did#Just that I don't think he was always an awful dude#Much like how Zarc and Yuri weren't also always awful people

Here's Rin's dialogue with Celina and Declan.
Rin: Celina! Celina: Rin! You're back! That means Yugo accomplished his mission. Yugo was worried about going to see you alone, but Zuzu gave him a little push. Rin: So that's what happened! Celina: I still can't figure out if Yugo is someone we can count on or not. Rin: You seem to know a lot about Yugo, Celina. Celina: I do? Not as much as you. Though I did Duel him at the Friendship Cup. Rin: What!? You were able to enter the Friendship Cup!? Celina: But I lost...Thanks for reminding me...Has he always Dueled that way? Rin: When you say "that way," do you mean like he leaves everything to luck? Celina: Yeah! That! Rin: He's never been a strategist...But he never gives up! Celina: So he's honed his lucky strategy through countless Duels... Rin: You make it sound awesome, but it's kinda not. Anyway, I'm interested in learning how you Duel. Celina: You are? Rin: I want to know what kind of Dueling it takes to enter the Friendship Cup! Celina: By the way, Zuzu entered the Friendship Cup too. Rin: Whaaaaaat!? That's not fair! I wanted to enter toooooo!
Declan: You must be Rin from the Synchro Dimension. Rin: You're that guy who fought against Leo Akaba! Declan: I'm Declan. Declan Akaba. I'm...sorry. Rin: Huh? Declan: If I was stronger, I could've prevented my father from putting your life in danger. Rin: You shouldn't take all the blame. if that guy who looked like Yugo hadn't abducted me, none of this would've happened. Declan: But my father did try to erase you. Rin: That does tick me off. But since it was to save Ray, I sort of understand - even if I don't like it. Declan: Be that as it may, I truly regret what happened to you. I don't know what I can do to atone, but I promise to help you whenever you need it. Rin: You can start by answering a question. How's the Synchro Dimension doing? Declan: Duel Academy is no longer a threat. The four dimensions are now connected, so there have been big changes. Even the Topsiders and the Commons are starting to get along. Rin: I see...That's great to hear! If anything new changes in the Synchro Dimension, let me know! Declan: I promise I will.

The Rival's moms has to have the worst taste in men I have ever seen. These women have 0 standards.
How could Declan's mom see Leo and think, "Yeah, he is hot."?
How can Kite's mom see Faker and think, "I want him to be the father of my children."?
Ryoken's mom really saw this monster and said, "I want him."
Gozaboro may be Seto's adopted dad, but Noah is his biological son, and I am stuck on how any woman would ever go 5 meters in front of him without slapping him.
Chazz and Jack's parents haven't been seen, so they get a pass for now.

Yuri's Demands
Yuri whined in distress as he lay in his bed, his head pounding like a sledgehammer was being bashed around inside. Oh, how he hated being sick! It was just awful! He just wanted to curl up in his bed and fall back asleep, but he was too warm and sweaty to get comfortable
Suddenly his dorm door opened, casting horrible light into his nice dark room. The light was hurting his eyes and causing his headache to get worse. The silhouette of a tall bald man stood in the doorway.
“Sick again, Yuri?” the voice of the Professor rang out, hurting the poor cabbage’s ears. Yuri whined and threw a pillow at him, though his illness made him too weak for it to go very far. “Go ’way… too bright…”
The Professor did not go away, however, and instead stepped into the room and turned on the light. Immediately Yuri hissed, covering his eyes. The Professor frowned when he saw Yuri’s feverish face, then sighed. “Great… just great…” He didn’t even need a thermometer to confirm that Yuri was actually sick. The cabbage-head never faked an illness.
The Professor turned and stepped back out of the room, looking around for the nearest person that could be trusted to take care of Yuri. His eyes fell on Sora, who was walking down the hall, and he immediately waved the blue-haired boy over. “Yuri’s sick, and can’t be left alone. So I’m assigning you to be his caretaker. Be aware, however, that he’s very, VERY needy when he’s sick.”
“Oh, okay,” Sora said, waving his hand dismissively, “that’s fine. I mean really, how bad can he be when he’s sick?”
“Oh, you’ll find out soon enough,” the Professor replied, walking away. “Very, very soon.”
* * *
Oh, Sora regretted taking on the job almost immediately. Not only was Yuri a very needy princess, but he was also whiny, and would throw a tantrum if Sora didn’t attend to his demands within two minutes. And! he would call Sora every five minutes with a new demand. The Professor wasn’t kidding when he said that Yuri was very needy when he was sick!
“Soraaaa!” Yuri whined, and the blue-haired boy sighed. “My pillow fell!”
Sora got up and put a bookmark in the book he was trying to read, before walking to Yuri’s bed and picking up the pillow from the floor where it had fallen. “Here,” he said, trying not to look at Yuri’s face. Despite his efforts, his eyes fell on the flushed, feverish boy, and he felt a twinge of guilt at being so annoyed with him. Yuri was very obviously miserable and unwell, and it was honestly very difficult to be annoyed with him right now.
Yuri hugged his pillow tightly, then kicked off his blankets. “Too warm…” he muttered, snuggling into his pillow. He closed his eyes and Sora quietly exhaled, walking back to his chair and sitting back down. He hoped that Yuri was falling asleep so he could get some peace and quiet for a while, but his hopes were quickly dashed when suddenly Yuri whined again. “Soraaaaa! M’cold!”
Sora groaned and put his book down, getting up again and tucking Yuri in. “Stop kicking the blankets off,” he scolded the cabbage-head. Yuri glared at him and smacked him with his pillow. “Don’t tell me what to DO!” he screeched.
“Oi! Stop it!” Sora yelped at the pillow onslaught. Yuri shrieked again at the demand, and continued smacking him until the blue-haired boy stepped out of range. Yuri tried to scoot closer, but fell out of bed with a yelp. “OW!”
“Oh crap…” Sora hurried over to the fallen cabbage. “Are you okay?” He heard a sniffle, then Yuri started crying. “Sorrraaaaa! I feeeeeell!”
“Okay, c’mon,” Sora said, trying to be gentle. He’d never seen Yuri cry before. It was a bit of a shock to know that Yuri could cry, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel bad for the older boy. He carefully picked Yuri up and placed him back in his bed, tucking him in and giving him back his pillow. “There, all nice and cozy. Stay here, I’ll go get you some medicine.”
“No!” Yuri yelled defiantly. “No medicine! Never!” Sora sighed and ignored his angry, defiant yells as he stepped out of the dorm. A couple of the other students were milling about, and they looked up as Sora walked out of Yuri’s room. One of them gave him a pitying smile. “So you got stuck on Princess Yuri Duty this time, huh?”
“Apparently,” Sora sighed, grabbing some medicine from the medicine cabinet. “Can’t be too mad though. Yuri’s almost adorable when he’s being needy, like a normal sick kid.”
“Mm, has he started crying yet?” asked another student. “He cries when he’s got a headache or is too hot or feels like throwing up.”
“Yeah, but he was crying cuz he fell out of bed,” Sora replied, reading the instructions on the medicine bottle. After a moment, he grabbed a bottle of orange juice out of the minifridge and poured a glass, then poured a dose of medicine into the juice.
“What are you doing, exactly?” asked the first student, raising an eyebrow at the blue-haired boy’s actions. Sora replied, “Well, Yuri doesn’t want any medicine, so I’m gonna see if I can trick him into taking it by mixing it with something that masks the taste so he doesn’t know.”
The other students stared at him in surprise, then a girl asked, “Why didn’t I think of that when I was in charge of him? He fought tooth and nail to avoid taking medicine! Literally! He scratched and bit me!”
Sora shrugged, “I’ll let you know if this works, then!”
“SORAAAA!” Yuri’s scream could be heard, and Sora hurried to his dorm with the glass of medicine-juice. “I’m here!”
“I’m THIRSTY!” Yuri sobbed, kicking his feet and pounding his fists on his mattress in a tantrum.
“Shh, it’s ok, I got you some orange juice!” Sora said, offering him the glass. Yuri glared at the juice suspiciously for some reason, but he took the glass and cautiously drank some of it. After a moment’s pause, he suddenly began downing the juice, much to Sora’s relief. It seemed that tricking him into taking his medicine would be a lot easier than the blue-haired boy expected.
Yuri finished his medicine-juice and pointed at a book on his nightstand. “Sora! Read to me! I want stories!”
“Okay, hold on, just lemme put this glass in the kitchen—” Sora began to say, but Yuri screeched and kicked his feet furiously, throwing his pillow at him. “No! Now! I want stories now! Now, now, now, now, now!”
“Okay, okay!” Sora said, quickly setting the glass on the nightstand and picking up the book. He frowned at the title. “Huh, never pegged you as someone who enjoyed fairytales…”
“Why not?” Yuri asked, crossing his arms over his chest and sulking at him. “Do you even know how gorey and bloody and tragic the original versions of fairytales were? I was reading Cinderella last night, and her stepsisters cut off their toe and heel to fit into the slipper!”
“Really?” Sora blinked in surprise. That actually did sound like something Yuri would enjoy reading. “I didn’t know that! Huh…”
Yuri suddenly hit him with his pillow again. “Less talkie more readie!” he whined. Sora had half a mind to take the pillow away from him, but didn’t want him to start crying again. So he opened the book to the page marked by Yuri’s bookmark and began reading, “‘And when her wedding with the Prince was appointed to be held the false sisters came, hoping to curry favor, and to take part in the festivities. So as the bridal procession went to the church, the eldest walked on the right side and the younger on the left, and the pigeons picked out an eye of each of them. And as they returned the elder was on the left side and the younger on the right, and the pigeons picked out the other eye of each of them. And so they were condemned to go blind for the rest of their days because of their wickedness and falsehood.’”
Yuri listened happily, or at least as happily as he could whilst ill. Sora blinked as he re-read the paragraph he’d just read out loud, this time in his head. “Woah, wait what? This is a fairytale? Which fairytale is this?”
“Cinderella,” Yuri replied. Sora blinked again, then shook his head, “No way this is Cinderella! I don’t remember that happening in the movie…”
Yuri pouted, “Yeah, cuz the movie is child-friendly, marketed to families. The original fairytales were meant to scare kids into behaving, so they were all gorey.”
“I see…” Sora said. Yuri hit him with his pillow again and whined, “Read! Read! Read!”
“Okay, okay! Just stop hitting me!” Sora groaned. He turned the page and began reading the next fairytale.
Meanwhile, the Professor’ was in his office, watching the scene unfold. There were no cameras inside the dorms, but there were some in the halls facing the dorm doors, and he could see what was going on inside Yuri’s room. He’d seen Sora successfully get Yuri to take his medicine, something that everyone else had struggled to do. Yuri always fought to avoid taking medicine, and even the Professor couldn’t make him take it without having him physically restrained and forcing his mouth open. And that in itself was a risky business, as Yuri would not hesitate to bite even him.
“Well, it looks like Sora’s the best option for a caretaker when Yuri is ill,” the Professor said. “If he can trick Yuri into taking his medicine without putting up a fight, that will save a lot of trouble in the future.”
* * *
Meanwhile in the Synchro dimension, a certain blunana couldn’t stop sneezing and coughing. The orphanage caretakers dreaded what they were certain was coming. “Oh, Yugo,” one of them sighed. “I really hope you’re not getting sick.”
“Me too,” Yugo mumbled when he managed to stop sneezing. “I don’t like being sick… it’s awful and scary.”
“Come, Yugo,” the caretaker said, “off to the sick room. We need to take your temperature. Hopefully this is just some new kind of allergy to dust or something.”
