I’m so mad at Crunchyroll for removing comments this week. I wound up Googling my question and got WAY more spoilers from the AI overview.

SO, how many pennies did Crunchyroll save but taking away the comments?

And I mean, the comments could be a cesspool so I tended to stay away for certain series, but in general? BAD DECISION. They save a little bit by not having to have anyone moderate it, but they lost a community, basically.

though it made me sad and sick to watch, I'm not surprised about what ketil did to arnheid. it was built up to within the story. 'he treated the farm hands and his other slaves better than most'...but his dynamic with arnheid was more insidious from the start.

all his interactions with her were entirely about him and her being a pillow for him to rest his head. not once did he consider her full humanity in order to see her as a real person. he didn't ask or know anything about her predicament, her thoughts, her past - let alone what she wanted. in that sense, she was unique to the others because he at least showed some interest in their history and potential as human beings in their own right once they got their freedom. they were people on some level to him with their own wills. arnheids freedom was never even a consideration though.

he treated arnheid like an inanimate object existing purely for his comfort from the beginning. so when she asserted her own personhood, he became angry like someone would at an object malfunctioning. he had completely dehumanized her.
