Hey Guys,
Back with another post!
Still running with the Halloween theme! And so this time, I'd like to introduce Cat in a Pumpkin! I took ages deciding whether I should have a tail or not, but in the end I chose both. I made the tail detachable and by detachable I mean I didn't attach it HAHAHAHAHAHA.
But hey, my indecisiveness leads to more content for you, right? Hah, anyway I love it and I hope you do too.
Enjoy! Until next time, keep creative!

Using medium weight yarn from YARNS I ALREADY HAVE AND DON'T HAVE LABELS FOR ANYMORE.
Crochet Hook Size: 3.5mm
Learned picots during this project. At least I think I did. Otherwise, it was all mainly double crochets :)

I crocheted this blanket and finished it last summer. It is very important to me.
I began it over ten years ago, before I left for college. It began as entirely single crochet and I didn't know how to properly turn yet, I asked my Mom how and she said put how many chains in I needed to to make it even (wrong unless I always thought one). The plum and spring green color ends varied horribly until I figured it out. I continued, because I didn't want to undo all my hard work. I became very very good at single crochet and turning and I became ashamed of my earlier mistakes, but to fix earlier mistakes would undo all of my later good work.
I made it to the brown stripe, was disheartened, and stopped work on it. I moved multiple times to multiple states, always towing the blanket and feeling bad about it. The early imperfect work and the giving up, feeling like I'd never complete it and it wasn't worth it.
Years later, I was fed up with that feeling. I pulled it out. Hours and hours of effort were undone in about a half hour. I started it again with a new pattern, I was beyond single crochet now.
And gave up about halfway through the first plum stripe.
And then the next year, picked it up again. Unraveled it again. A new pattern. I raced through plum spring green, cream, blue, brown. I ran out of the original yarn. I looked for more. That yarn isn't made anymore, found a close approximation. What colors go best? I can't match but let's try and stay on a kind of theme. The yarn stretches different. Pull out the pink strip and redo it tighter. I need one more color but none work with all my others. Peacock. Beautiful. Done.
Done!
It finished!
It's not perfect, each stripe after the brown stretches differently due to being all different yarns. The plum has been crocheted three times and is noticeably tougher than the rest. The colors don't go perfectly together, the dark green should have a bit more of a jewel tone. Some colors have a different number of rows than others
But I don't care. I love it.
The original blanket lives on in the roughness of the plum and the learned precision of my stitches and turnings. The labor I lost is still here in the ability to do a more difficult stitch. The shame I felt in the unfinished project is reclaimed as joy in a finished blanket.
It is beautiful it is soft and it is mine.

I know, crocheting is my coping style but I cannot think of a better way to escape from my problems. Except reading for hours.

Hey Guys,
Back with another post!
So… So… Me against AI. It all began with a single image I came across on Pinterest which just unlocked my "challenge accepted" mode. AI has increasingly become prevalent in the crochet community in both good and bad ways. I think the generated images are pretty to look at and great for inspiration but passing them off as final product images for patterns is beyond the pale. And don't get me started on the fake AI generated patterns! Anyway, I don't want to rant too much about that, but I created this amigurumi just to see if I could make a more realistic version of said AI image. The image looks amazing but it's also absolutely unrealistic - it defies gravity and there's no way her tiny frame could support all the paraphernalia on her. So, for my little ladybird inspired diva, I tried to match the same vibe as the AI image but kept it more realistic and attainable. I have to say her hair and earrings are just my favourite part about her and I just love her so much.
I hope you like it too!
Enjoy! Until next time, keep creative!

Finished Enid's snood last week (in reds as requested, instead of pink), inspired from the show Wednesday. Easy pattern, and would have been quick if I hadn't taken a month long hand break since it uses bulky/super bulky yarn and just double crochets all around.
Free pattern from YouTube:
