Hi! Happy birthday to Bat-Swap!!!🥳🥳🥳
I was wondering if there were any deleted scenes/concepts that didn't make it into the final fic? Or a character you wanted to add but didn't get the chance to?
Love your writing! Might have to go reread for the fic's birthday!
The muse, the Michelangelo, the WOLF!!
Oh god so many, I thought this fic up with the ending coming like a week later and so much came up in between that got scrapped into the Outtake Doc for any later use.
I have a list of my minds bullcrap, hold up, gotta dig through the receipts
In absolutely no particular order-
Back when we met Pinky I planned to reveal the whole Vasquez extended Marvel family through a statue for each Marvel at the park, one basically guarding each path that all branched out of the center area Billys was at. By then I had already made plans to make the Sins and maybe Blaze a looming Big Bad so I had a concept of the statues having their own importance sometime in the final confrontation I have planned (bc we gotta have one, I love comics and comic are all about that big payoff fight) but that got scrapped for the longer buildup and the timeline I refined to make them heroes for too short a time to get such big memorials
One more overarching idea was to make the Batfam more hostile to Cap, not liking the situation as much as he wasn’t and not getting along well. I wanted to start off with a lighter note so I changed peoples tune
Was going to have a moment of some Batfam like Tim and Steph (who were involved with YJ) asking about Freddy and wanting to catch up with him, with the allusion to the Marvels being more tight knit with Billy seeming like the exception given how much he seems to travel more than his siblings.
One scrapped scene that might make a comeback with some editing is Bruce as Cap joining Pinky on a pre-planned stake out/take down, with more than a couple of playful jabs that “Look at us! The redder versions of you and Krypto-boy!” Plus some more Pinky love bc that kid was insane (like every Fawcett character honestly)
Actually cut the Katabasis chapter down; had an outline and some paragraphs done of Tim destroying SBP and getting a whack at him with a lot of unhealthy pent up issues that I doubt fully got resolved after the Everything™️ that was The Teen Years Of Tim Drake
Dick was supposed to have a scene visiting Damian in the hospital first but plans very obviously changed and I added a Dick & Billy focused bonding-ish chapter
Two things with Lucy’s reveal actually, was gonna have her book be a redo of the old Owlman and Pulchinella characters from Harley’s failed romance novel now turned turned adventure novel but changed it to basically be personally made story of a Lucy like sidekick to Capitano (Billy). More endearing to me to have Harley making books like she always wanted to that are aimed for her daughter’s wild imagination and Billy helping in recommending them. Also was going to have Lucy jokingly call Bruce-as-Billy “Batsy” as a riff on Billy’s last name and Bruce in his stupidly big brain for everything criminal put some pieces together about how she said that name and the kind of smile+laugh she’s got but have no chance to say anything before the doors shut. Just to fuck with him more
Was going to have Kit and Jason have a chat when Jason first woke up, with Kit realizing who the guy he scared unconscious was and adding my long desired “Oh this ghost is a kid I accidentally avenged by murdering a guy.” Moment. Will never forget that Jason killed Captain Nazi, top tier stuff to mess with
I had another small villain confrontation idea in Mr. Banjo Jr leading a crime spree parade, even had lyrics for him to sing about sticking it to the man I even named (bc I am insane at all times) “Rebel souls unfold” to work in more of a Music Miester-y way in leading the brainwashed Fawcettizens in attacking Bruce-as-Billy, all with lyrics of Banjo Jr hyping himself up and making it sound like a revolt against heroes. Honestly a lot of fun thinking up but it never got to the writing stage for a scene and I don’t know where I’d put it now that things are getting serious. I’ll probably post it when I have a full list of scraped concepts when this monster of a fic is finally over, haha
(Wow, I just switched to numbers instead of dots here, Holy moley)
There are a lot of scrapped ideas I feel confident in including later and other ones I want to foam at the mouth about with everyone but are all spoilers so aaaAAHHH but I continue on! Honestly, blame my brain for having so many ideas and only ever writing in flow of thought for this mess of brain matter in my cranium. Ugh

Alright, my Brotherhood character tier list. There are a few characters I could shuffle back and forth between the lower tiers, but thus is the nature of finding most of the cast to be unseasoned and bland.
A mountain of salt and indifference lays ahead:
First tier: No one should be surprised about my top pick. He's the one character I was absolutely rooting for from start to finish, and WOW did I hate what this narrative puts him through. The way this show takes every opportunity to kick him in the ribs while the war criminal characters are given so much sympathy was a ride (derogatory). The absolute anxiety this anime has around what Scar's character represents is palpable and it sucked so hard. In spite of these massive issues, he still managed to be a rich, layered character, and he was the absolute highlight to what was otherwise a trainwreck of an experience. I nearly dropped this show multiple times, with the scene in the abandoned Briggs town being the one that nearly turned me away completely. There are only two reasons I kept watching: to better articulate my opinions on this adaptation, and because of Scar. If he was removed from the story I would have absolutely ditched this mess. Though the disappointing conclusion to his story, post-Promised Day, as a military collaborator and reformist? Hurts my soul. Scar, babygirl? Sweetheart? You're fantastic and you deserved infinitely better than *Hand waves at the entirety of Brotherhood*
Second tier: I really was quite surprised how much I liked these two! Hohenheim was an actually well written character, he was complex and sympathetic, his arc had an emotional weight to it that the show's writing frankly bungles for the majority of its other characters. A very different character from the version of him I'm familiar with, and I liked this one quite a lot!
As for Mei, I won't lie. When she first got introduced I rolled my eyes, thinking she would fall into the "peppy mascot-adjacent kid who brightens up the dour characters and pays no mind to anything around her" role. And although she does match the archetype to some extent, she doesn't end up hollow. Her zeal for combat, her passion towards saving her clan, the care she shows for others and her unabashed friendship with Scar won me over. I really appreciated that she seemed less concerned with ruling an empire and more with securing the safety of her people. Watching her fight was always a treat too (that choreography, man), though I wasn't remotely invested in the romance angle presented with her and the Elrics.
Third Tier: An odd grab-bag of characters that I still liked enough, but on a comparatively superficial level. Izumi was cool but (like half of the Brotherhood cast) was often played up more for comedy relief when she wasn't doling out beatdowns (and often the comedy was because she's such a powerhouse). There wasn't enough here for me to be more invested in her than I would prefer.
Scar's brother is a brief glimpse of a character in any version of fma, so it's not like he has much of an opportunity to shine on his own versus what he provides for the plot. Still, I like him well enough. Too bad he's the "positivity even in the face of imperial aggression" guy, as a key antithesis to what Scar symbolizes pre-reformism.
Greed's effortlessly cool, and although I can appreciate that this time around he has an ongoing role in the story versus FMA 03, I wasn't won over by his particular arc. I can see what Arakawa & co were going for regarding themes of community, and Greed is a big part of that contrast against the other isolationist and war-mongering homunculi, but I'm gonna be real here: the "power of friendship" story is not something I come to fma for. (Jokes on me, that was pretty much what the manga and its direct adaptation are all about.) It can be done with some gravitas, but it felt more... Juvenile, simplistic. Still, I liked the "greed doesn't need to be a bad characteristic" bit, regarding the desire for other people in your life. That's about as interesting as it got for me.
Yeah, McDougal is more a vehicle to kickstart the show than he is a character. And yeah, he's an example of how this show regards radical actions against the state without working within said state. But I'm always gonna stan any character that seeks to destroy the seat of power in an empire, even if that character is meant to be an anti-radical strawman. So fuck you, Brotherhood, McDougal was right. He was the single Amestrian war criminal who actually took the correct actions against the institution he once served: he abandoned it instead of reaping the class benefits from its rampant bloodshed (y'know, unlike our "valiant" heroes, Mustang et al), worked to destroy it, and nearly accomplished exactly that.
Paninya! What can I say, I like Paninya. She's clever, fleet of foot, sweet as can be, and a solid fighter too. What's not to love? No version of fma provides enough Paninya content, and that's a bummer. Also, stfu Winry with your "stop stealing" crap. Damn.
Here's where we start to get controversial. The fourth tier:
I know Ling's a core character. I know he's a fan favourite. I know he's meant to be a paragon on what a "righteous ruler" ought to be. I can't yawn hard enough. I don't hate the guy, and he's got enough entertaining moments for me to mostly provide a polite shrug if asked for my overall opinion on this character. But man, the amount of "the system can be good, we just need good rulers/soldiers" that comes packaged with his character arc and its attending themes gives me critical organ failure.
Winry. Oh, Winry. As much as I like having more screentime for her, I just. Ugh. I really dislike how she got written into being the heartbroken white girl who rises above hatred and revenge, as though she is the ultimate victim of the Amestrian genocide of the Ishvalans. She "breaks the cycle" (ugh) because "her hands weren't meant to kill" (ugghhhhhhhhhh). She's still a headstrong, passionate character, skilled in a complex trade, and overall a kind person. I like that about her! But fuckin' YEESH with that brazen ploy to make Scar look less justified in his actions by throwing the Rockbells and Winry into his backstory and ongoing arc. Like Ed, she exists to be Broho's "moral" backbone, which ruins any potential for complex interiority. Also, I don't care about the good-little-future-wife shtick either. I appreciate that she remains an automail mechanic even after starting a family, but I'm bored to tears that this was the ultimate payoff to her narrative.
On paper, Truth and the character-specific Gates are interesting concepts. In execution, Brotherhood manages to render Truth into a rather goofy entity who happens to dole out consequences for alchemic taboos. And my bias is that fma 03's non-personified Truth-as-concept and a Gate that is wholly indifferent to human suffering, and wholly unsolvable > a personified Truth with a circus theme, cracking jokes while waiting for you to solve their grand Riddle.
So I'm putting Greedling as a separate entry from Greed and Ling 1) because he's a different enough character from both while still serving as a vehicle for both of their arcs, and 2) because WOW was I disappointed with the entire twist of Father 'granting' Ling his wish, monkey's paw style. And my disappointment stems largely from the fact that Ling maintains himself. Like. This body snatching ends with a teary friendship speech, Ling getting his body back intact, a philosopher stone, and his seat as the new emperor of Xing. Greedling, as an amalgamated character, never properly feels like a combination of the two, nor does he come with any real downsides or repercussions for Ling (for Greed, the mind reset from being liquidated is where he suffers tragedy, not from being given possession over a human being's body). Oh no, Ling has become Greed! Now he gets to argue with his new homunculus pal in the interim between this minor setback (where he's become physically stronger btw) and getting everything he wanted! Riveting.
Fifth tier: I won't go into every character on the average tier. I don't dislike them, I'm mostly neutral to em. They're fine. Sid, Pinako, Madame Christmas, Trisha, and Sciezka could all stand to be more fleshed out. I have a soft spot for Pinako, and I love the concept of Madame Christmas (the head mistress of a brothel who helps undermine the state? And a grade A hot older, larger woman who isn't designed to hide her age and stature? Hell yeah!) Sciezka's fun for the one episode we see her, but she's just a one-off, unlike her 03 counterpart. Shame. And the kids are cute and inoffensive, and Gracia's there too.
Sixth tier: Brotherhood's famously bloated cast will inevitably have characters that, much like the previous tier, are average due to having very little meat on the bones character- and plot-wise, or whose presence don't ultimately add or detract from the story, BUT! The dedication from those fans who see something more to those characters can really enhance my appreciation for what would otherwise be more additions to the average tier for me. Shoutout to Manfred (of Funny Bido Comics fame) for his lovely comics and artwork centering the Devil's Nest cast. At least now I can look at these guys and fondly think "Fuckin' sweet". As for the military chimera dudes, I wish there was more to them in-canon for me to better enjoy what they could have added to the cast, but while watching Brotherhood it felt like a lot of bloat. Still, charming fanart has managed to make me look at them a bit more favourably. (I should have put this tier above the basal Average tier, but I'm a fool and a charlatan, so.)
Seventh tier: Critters! Not much else to this one. They don't really count as characters per say (Xiao Mei being the closest one I could call a character, kinda), but hey, they're cute. To be honest, this tier should exist outside of the hierarchy since they don't really fall above or below most of the tiers, barring the top and bottom 3.
Eighth tier: The "both sides!" clutch that Brotherhood rests so much of its goddamned weight upon. Great that they helped wounded Ishvalans! Shit that they're not really characters, they're just perfect white martyrs for Winry's and Ed's character arcs, and a repeated shitfest for Scar's arc. Not all Amestrians, but definitely all Ishvalan rebels, amirite Arakawa?
Ninth tier: Compelling is perhaps a strong word here. They could have been compelling. Father, in Brotherhood's vacuum, could be an antagonist rife with symbolism and pathos. The attempt is there. But instead he ultimately feels more like a cardboard cutout that acts as the RPG final big bad. Bradley and Pride are at least more interesting as characters, and I felt Bradley being a human long possessed by the Wrath homunculus worked far better as a concept over Greedling. Overall the Brotherhood homunculi are flat tires, and as I said in the tier name, they're meant to exonerate the military apparatus by being the core problem with it. (Anyone else notice how much more sympathy the narrative gives King Fuhrer Bradley over Scar? He has a WIFE you know. Isn't he so soft? Man, what a good show /s)
Tenth tier: Easily forgettable. I don't even have anything unique to say about most of them. What I can say is: I wish I liked Lan Fan, Barry and Gluttony are whatever, I don't feel pity for the genocidal dictator's wife, and Sloth was a soggy wet fart.
Eleventh tier: The "you are all so thoroughly overshadowed by your 03 counterparts that I can't feel anything but a numb indifference or disillusionment for these versions" tier.
Al just. Feels too prim and quiet here. He disappears in the backdrop of 400 characters vying for screentime once you hit the halfway point of this show and he hardly re-emerges from that point onwards. Even when we switch back to his side of the journey he's overshadowed by everyone around him. Him meeting his dad in Liore, being puppeteered by Pride and his subsequent mutual entrapment with Pride seems to be all I can recall about Al after splitting from Ed in Briggs (until the final showdown with Twink Father). Characterization feels so flat, especially since I've got years of 03 Al lodged in my brain, and that version is just phenomenally written. Sorry but Broho Al inspires nothing for me, and he doesn't leave 03 Al's shadow one bit.
White Rose haunts my nightmares. And having her gush about how grateful she is for Ed showing her "ignorant" ass the True Way Forward (even with the decimation of Liore) with Winry (while the audience gets to ogle Winry taking a bath lmfao) was just. 😐
Calling Brotherhood Rick a "flash in the pan character" would be an overestimation of his extremely brief presence here. I forgot he was even in this show. F
Maria Ross may not necessarily be the most done-dirty of all the mutual characters across the two fma anime, but man, she just doesn't hit the same high notes as 03 Ross. Brotherhood did manage to get me worked up when I thought Mustang had murdered her, but after that was cleared up, she gets bookmarked until she can return as just a cog for the coup to commence. Sure she had this important role in-universe, but overall her actual impact on the core characters and the broader story was negligible. I get it, she's simply not supposed to be That Character in this version (much like Broho Sciezka vs 03 Sciezka). It just sucks seeing her be more formal and uninvolved with the Elrics, unlike her bond with them in the first anime which really made her shine. As it stands, Envy taking on her form to kill Hughes felt like her most memorable contribution to this story lol
WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO YOU, LUST?! OMFG WHY?? I still can't believe this version of her exists. Holy shit, I was not prepared to be so thoroughly rocked by how badly this character was going to be handled. She was nothing more than a sexy henchman with a D Plot about a feigned "relationship" with Havoc (which was a steaming load of nothing btw, since we only see this for one scene that lasts, what, a few seconds?) We get a joke about how much Havoc can't resist her massive titties, replete with water sloshing sound effects and anime jiggle physics, and then she fails to kill a pair of idiots which leads to her getting flambeed to death. All while being horny for Mustang's declaration of Immense Rippling Manhood with strong undercurrents of Monogamous Codependent Dedication for Riza. Just. What the fuck. What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the actual fu-
Twelfth tier: Fuck these guys. Love how much screentime the characters I beloathed got. Truly stupendous. I don't hate them all equally, but my dislike was palpable every time any of these assholes were on screen. And keep in mind, I hate them most for what they are for the themes, conclusions, and plot of the show far more than merely how I perceive them as individual characters (which doesn't completely eclipse the fact that I also don't like them as characters either lol).
Miles: One of Arakawa's many mouthpieces for her great takes on reforming a racist institution and why radical violent retaliation against an imperial giant is WrongBad. Make the genociders more diverse! "Did ya ever think of JOINING the military so you can CHANGE MINDS in the boonies at a military base on a border with another empire we're warring with, huh Scar? What were you doing while the military was genociding you and our people in Ishval, hm? Why did you fight back instead of making more gains for this monstrous apparatus? Shoulda signed up to be a pig instead of getting blown up, idiot." -Miles
This Ed is a fucking travesty. I cannot believe the monumental poor taste of the fma fandom for seeing this Ed as a better written, more human, worthwhile character than the 2003 version. It's inconceivable! This pompous, chauvinist racist is your guy? He becomes a meat-headed comedy relief character post-Briggs/pre-coup, which is great because I already couldn't take this version of him seriously. You'd think I'd have more to say, but honestly? 03 Edward Elric already exists. Therefore this jackass is fully irrelevant to me.
I waffled between putting Buccaneer in either the 10th tier (Literally Who Cares) or this one, and I thought "Y'know what? If the other core Briggs cunts are in the 12th tier, then why not keep the loyal squad together?" Piglet, nothing more to add.
The fact that the conclusion to Alex Armstrong's character arc was apologizing to his frothing nationalist sister for not doing enough genocide at his country's behest lands this coward here. A coward not for making a (meagre, failed) attempt at saving some Ishvalans, but for being a sniveling aristocratic boot-boy with no principles to compel him to turn away from the source of his family's generational wealth.
Cornello was an inept clown here. An easy "Literal Who" in this version, but hey he still exploits the Liorans for his own gain. With nothing else to his character or place in the story (which is arguably quite redundant given Brotherhood's handling of the timeline of events), the bin is the only place for him.
Shou Tucker. He's a monster, we all hate him, and yet he still committed markedly fewer atrocities, including against children, than any one of your military faves.
Overrated trash Olivier, the peak patriotic liberal wet dream. She's a top-cop who girlbossed her way to a male-dominated field (warmongering and genocide! But "feminist™")! She spouts pseudo-progressive (progressive if you squint and don't have standards) rhetoric while supporting her nation's imperialist agenda! (Optics>material actions, just how libs love it.) She has no qualms with ethnic cleansing but she doesn't see colour, so obviously she's a 'badass' babe who can dommy-mommy you whenever she even deigns to look your way! But she also has a heart of gold, because she cares about the porkchops under her command soooooooooo much! Wow! 🤢🤮
Riza, everyone's waifu (Mustang's, the show's, and yours too). Super cool how Roy committing genocide wasn't a good enough reason to blow his skull into chunks the way she claimed she would if he ever used her father's flame alchemy for ill. Love that she even joined the military so she could gain that sweet, sweet angsty backstory with her main squeeze while slaughtering hundreds of thousands of brown people. She regretted it so much as the carnage was being carried out that she made sure to do an amazing job of sniping Ishvalans! Because she's conflicted and nuanced.
Pfft. Mustang. Refer to the above. And what gets me is, yeah. He (and Riza) are written to be as charming and lovable as possible. They're both practically the unofficial main duo of this show. And I can't stomach these clowns. Love that nepotism will ensure he gets to be fuhrer of Amestris once Riza's grandpappy kicks the bucket. Btw cool eyesight bro, how many alchemically murdered Ishvalans did it cost? :))))))))))))
Guys guys guys, Hughes! He's the best! He'll sign up to murder as many Ishvalan families as it takes to keep his own (at the time hypothetical) family safe (in the militarily dominant imperium for which they were never once in any danger from the ethnically different occupied country)! Good thing Brotherhood and the manga both RESPECT Hughes, unlike the 2003 anime's movie, which made him a racist pro-genocide jerk!
I don't even remember this guy's name. Genocide doctor one.
And genocide doctor two. Marcoh makes up for his unforgivable actions of making philosopher stones out of Ishvalans for the Amestrian government by giving a philosopher stone made out of Ishvalans to the future head of the Amestrian government.
Hey, does anyone recall that scene where Grumman practically Evil Monologues to himself about his chance to snatch the Fuhrership once Bradley is deposed, so that he can run the military dictatorship? No? No one? Not gonna talk about it? Not even the fact that he got exactly what he wanted? Hello?
Envy could have easily been in the tier with Bradley, Pride, and Father, or even the tier with Al, Lust, etc. But the weird pathetic shtick during his demise, where Ed makes a grand speech about how tragic Envy is, after everyone (including Scar because we gotta highlight how ~reformed~ he is) stops Mustang from killing them, and we're meant to sniffle along to the super sad 'nuance' of this character like??? Nah. Super funny how Riza then thanks Scar for making a pacifist speech at Mustang because he helped stop Mustang from "needlessly" killing Envy, when she herself failed to do exactly that in Ishval AND while staining her hands in the blood of innocents. And Ed feeling so much heartrending empathy for Envy, despite Envy having tried to kill him numerous times, they tried to kill his friends and allies, and they had murdered scores of human beings prior to all that. Yet mere moments earlier Ed was offended that Mustang and Riza had him team up with Scar. ... .... .... ....Did I mention how fucking badly this show treats Scar? So anyway I can't feel anything but disdain for this version of Envy, as yet another key point of Brotherhood's oozing hypocrisy.
Only good thing Olivier ever did was kill this guy and bury him in cement. She shoulda jumped in too. What was his name? Raven? Bah, who cares. Obviously screw him and the entire council of politicians surrounding Bradley.
Genocide doctor three.
Kimblee's a no-brainer, he's a proud fascist through-and-through. But you all know he was right about how naive and stupid Riza, Roy, and all the other idealist soldiers were for thinking their job, as a SOLDIER, was anything other than carrying out the orders of their superiors with the utmost violence. Like. You know he's correct about that, and only that, right? Because apparently even Arakawa didn't think he was right about that particular truth either, what with the Good Cop vs Bad Apples bent to her manga. Yeah so anyway, why the hell did we get a "Fuck yeah, humans rock!" speech from this pus-spewing sack of garbage, in support of Ed, after he had been eaten by Pride? Why did we get a friendship speech from fucking Kimblee?!
Disclaimer: Do I think anyone who likes or dislikes the characters I like/dislike are evil? No. Do I think anyone who likes Brotherhood (or the manga for that matter) are evil? No. Do I hate this show? ✨Yes, absolutely.✨
#glad that's done#i'll post my 03 character list once i'm done with the opinion write-up#fma#fmab#mine#meta#vent

two potential alternate pov scenes: i would love to see some of edwards manipulations from his perspective, even a collection of snippets (when she has her conversation with edward during the tour, honestly any instance where he hands her a coffee, and less on theme but that moment where she says she applied for the internship but she obviously doubts her ability to get it and he seems surprised - in my mind he reacts with surprise/shortness when she implies her own unworthiness because /obviously/ she's capable, he wouldn't be interested in her otherwise, because he is /exceptional/ and implying he'd waste his time with a completely normal person is frankly insulting to him - but I would love to see what you actually have him thinking in that moment)
Also, the (third?) time bats shows up at her apartment, and she's just in a t-shirt and nothing else. frankly I just wanna hear his internal monologue of 'i hope she's okay, is she a criminal that would suc-oh okay hot love that - oh god she's so invested in riddler she probably is in on it shit.
im so invested in all the relationships you've written in this fic, the dynamics are fantastic. jonathan, toxic situationship of the year award, her professor, her boss, the dr in charge of the single-blind research into experiment hallucinogenic drugs she doesn't know she's participating in. king.
brucie baby almost immediately reminding her that interacting with people who like you is like, nice, actually. bats being a condescending but caring jerk. pointedly not warning her about just how bad her situationship is (there's no way the world's greatest detective didn't put together that she's dating Crane and has a resistance to fear toxin). keep it up socially inept enabler.
edward. there's not much to say except I love an obsessive loser <3 romantic scavenger hunts, top tier. clearly knows and wants her to figure out that Crane is fucking with her but won't like. tell her. hope this romantic trial works out better than the last one!
I assume you mean Jon's manipulations and yes, I definitely will add that to the list of options!! Also the third interaction, of course (especially because we don't know yet WHY bats was hanging around our apartment... like, it definitely has to do with Jon/Scarecrow but the reader doesn't know that).
Thank you! It's been a challenge juggling the dynamics and relationships but it's super rewarding because I'm obsessed with all of them. I think you summed them all up very accurately.
Jonathan- toxic. toxic. toxic. but he's hot so we forgive him. he clearly likes the reader in some capacity but also enjoys fucking with her. in that sense, I guess you could say he views her more like a... toy? He thinks she's intelligent, but he still relishes in being able to manipulate her, he likes that there is just something about him that keeps her from really realizing the gravity of her situation.
Bruce- Bruce being almost like a friend to her vs bats being exasperated by her stupid decisions. but he also still has a bit of the mentality that she got herself into this mess, she should be able to get herself out, like he's gotten better at helping people and inspiring hope instead of fear but he still doesn't quite grasp that sometimes people are stuck in situations they can't get themselves out of. I do not think he will recognize this until he really starts to get to know her as Bruce.
Edward- he cannot help himself!! it would be so easy for him to just tell her that Jon is experimenting on her but... where's the fun in that? Also he knows that she doesn't trust him, so why would she believe him? But she's warming up to him now, I mean she's gonna go find whatever the hell he wants her to when she could easily just take that note to Batman and admit that she was coerced into helping him escape. But no, she's curious and still wants to feel special and that is what Ed is banking on (also because he believes that she is special and important.)

Oc character list
i have made the decision to start writing on here, so im gonna name off my characters and what they're like, in case there are any requests or ideas! keep in mind that all of my characters are yandere, like myself.
Xion- An extraterrestrial Emperor of many realms, quite brutal and nonforgiving. has a mind for vengeance. around you, is the softest, flirtiest, giggly thing ever!
Helix- A demon lord, with every intention to drag you, his beautiful little doll down on his throne of hellfire and lost souls. A big man with big tits (need I say more?)
Ren- The shy monster under your bed, in your closet, in your sheets. Hopelessly obsessed with the thought of being your leashed pet.
Hendrixx- An experiment test project in a facility with top tier scientists and doctors. but only you, the nurse, has his attention. His heart. Oh, he'll happily slaughter everyone else. He's the most difficult to contain in the entire facility. Only you can break him...
Arlie- The jester-like patient in the asylum for the criminally insane! Nothing could keep you two apart. No doctors, no nurses, no treatment. As the lead psychiatrist it is your duty to provide him stability! You ARE his stability!
Liora- A nanny that watches over the kids and house while you're busy working at the office. She most definitely takes advantage of having access to your room and everything in it
Zayne- Your tired CEO, who runs on coffee and two hours of sleep. the only time light appears in his eyes, is when you're around. His darling little assistant, always eager to please! Eager to please... He likes that.
Sabina- Highly trained assassin, who watches your every move. You're supposed to be her target. She was paid damn near a million to kill you, but just couldn't bring herself to do it. She'll tie you up and keep you herself. No one will know.
Seven- An obsessed imp who has access to the human world, after your little friends summoned him from an old Ouija Board. Now, no one can save you from his undying devotion, intense affection, and obsessive insanity
Jasmyn- Your helpless friend, who's always getting hurt! Oh, they'll do anything for your attention...
I will be open to write any character or yandere type suggested but it may take me a while to get to that.
i already have some fics written out! requests and ideas are always open unless there's been one character who im always writing for of course! enjoy <3

Elephant's Memory: Part One
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2k
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there is any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated
A sad soul can kill you quicker, far quicker, than a germ." - John Steinbeck
Don't wait up for me. I will meet you at work. - Spencer
As soon as you saw the note, you immediately got changed and headed to work knowing Spencer will be there to greet you. However, when you get to work, Spencer is nowhere to be found. Everyone is gathered in the briefing room, but Spencer isn't there either.
"Where's Spencer?" you ask and take your seat.
"We thought he was with you," Derek frowns.
"Regardless, we need to get started," JJ says and puts a video on the screen for all to see. "Officer Letts shot this just before he was killed."
"Sorry I'm late," Spencer says and rushes inside the room.
He's disheveled, he's nervous, and he can't seem to look anyone in the eyes, especially you.
"I hope she was worth it," Rossi teases.
"You have a side piece we don't know about?" Derek smirks.
"I was at the movies," Spencer lies easily.
"Oh, really? Why don't you tell us what it was about?"
"I had to leave early, so I can't really--"
"I know it's late, I know we're tired, but we've got two dead cops here," Hotch cuts everyone off.
Spencer looks up and meets your eyes, but he quickly looks away. There will be time to question him later about this. Right now, you need to focus on the case.
"Alright, the resident, Rod Norris, was DOA. They're still trying to ID the remains of the second victim, whom they believe is his sixteen-year-old daughter Jordan. From the condition of the remains, she would have had to have been inside the house close to the source of the blast."
"Clearly, they used the bombing to set the officers up for an ambush," Emily says.
"It makes sense. It's a well-established terrorist tactic. First wave takes out civilians, the second wave takes out first responders."
"Do the locals think it's terrorism?"
"No, it's not exactly a tier-one target, but DHS did issue a terror alert for the border states yesterday, just because of the timing and nature of the attack."
"I've never heard of West Bune, Texas," you say. "It looks like it's close to the border. It could be traffickers sending a message."
"Whoever it is, they gunned down two cops and blew up a teenage girl. Until they're stopped, no one in that town is safe."
"We need to be cautious with the locals. They've lost two of their own, they're anxious, they're scared, and they're gonna want revenge. Wheels up in thirty."
The meeting is finished, so everyone gathers their things so they can prepare for take off. You and Spencer are one of the last ones to leave the conference room, and before he can get far, you stop him.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Spencer leaves your side before you can say more. Spencer wasn't like this a few days ago, so why is he acting like this now? The last time he closed himself off like this, he was taking Dilaudid, and that's something you hope he isn't dabbling in now. You trust Spencer with all your heart, so if he says he's fine, then he's fine... right?
Spencer's issues will have to be placed on the back burner while you figure out the case. The location on the video that JJ showed is your first stop. Fire and explosions are your enemy since fire can alter energies surrounding the crime scene. The only exception is that of mass murder, but that's not the case here.
"Sheriff Hallum? I'm Jennifer Jareau. This is the team, agents Hotchner, Rossi, Dr. Reid, Prentiss, Y/N, and Morgan. We're really sorry for your loss."
"Thank you. Where do we start?"
"With the first victim, Rod Norris. Who was he?" Rossi asks.
"He was the manager of the chemical plant at IBIS. He had no arrests in ten years since his wife left him. I can't blame her for leaving him, but it's a shame she left Jordan behind."
"What can you tell us about Jordan?"
"She's a sweet girl, but a little slow. She wasn't mentally challenged or anything like that, but I think her mother leaving took a toll on her."
"Sheriff, I'd like to gather your people back at the office so I can brief them all together," JJ suggests.
"Sure, but I'm staying here."
"Of course."
JJ leaves but leaves the officers at the crime scene since they will be able to help your team. You, Spencer, and Rossi go inside the house carefully, making sure not to hurt yourself. The blast seemed to stem from the kitchen, which makes sense since there is a main gas line in here.
"The blast was localized here. The room's been sealed off. There's some plastic, and duct tape on the door sills, too."
Rossi leans down and touches the black powder that is scattered on the floor with his gloved hand.
"Gunpowder."
"Okay, so it looks like he seals the kitchen, blows out the pilot light, and traps the gas in here near the primary charge. If she and Rod were here, when the explosion happens, Rod ends up in the tree and Jordan ends up in the field."
"They didn't care about the rest of the house, so the whole thing's designed to focus the blast on whoever came through that door. Question is, what was the trigger?"
"Rod. He was a smoker, they knew he would come through that door, and they knew he'd be smoking when he did it."
"What do you see?" Rossi asks you.
"Nothing, unfortunately. I feel the trauma here and the spirits, but I don't see them. Fire is kind of my enemy, if you'd like to think of it that way. Fire and explosions obliterates any energies left behind. It burns it away. Maybe I'll get something where the bodies landed."
You leave the house and join Emily, Derek, and Hotch outside with the sheriff near where the bodies of the cops were shot down. When the first responders came to check out the place, the unsub or unsubs shot and killed the two cops.
"Hit pattern says they were fired on full auto," Derek says when you join them. "Single bursts put them both down. That takes skill and some serious training."
"Letts lands here, still alive, and Savage falls there dead, but the unsub doesn't stop there. He walks past Letts and shoots Lou Savage in the face when he knows he's already dead."
"This seems personal," you state.
"They knew each other?"
"Enough to know Rod would enter through the back door while smoking."
"And that Lou was on duty and would respond," Derek adds.
"So, what's going on here?" Hallum asks.
"This wasn't terrorism, domestic or otherwise. Terrorists rarely know their victims, at least not personally."
"Because they knew Rod was a smoker who used his back door? They weren't just being thorough?"
"No. He walks past Letts, who was alive, shoots Savage in the face when he knows he's already dead. Responders were coming. That last shot was risky overkill."
"Overkill means rage. Rage means a close personal relationship," Spencer says from behind you.
Looks like they're done in the house.
"Rod and Lou were the specific targets of this attack."
"Sheriff, can you think of anyone with a close personal connection to Rod and Lou?" Derek asks.
"I didn't think about it because of the terror alert," Hallum sighs.
"Think about what?"
"Owen Savage. Lou's son was dating Jordan."
Sheriff Hallum takes you to Lou and Owen's house, but Owen isn't there. You didn't think he'd be at his house, but it was worth a shot to hope. If Owen did do this, then you need to check out his room and begin a working profile on him.
"How long have you known Lou?" Hotch asks the sheriff.
"My whole life."
"What about his wife? How did she die?"
"Hope died by a drunk driver in '02. Lou was in afghanistan. Owen lived with us until he got back."
"How long was Lou in the marines?" you ask.
"Twelve years. He was discharged so he could raise Owen."
"Is that why he resented them?" Spencer asks suddenly.
"Excuse me?"
"Did Loud blame his wife and son for ending his career in the marines?"
"Loud was a good man."
"A good man that doesn't have a single photo of his dead wife or only son anywhere in his entire house."
Hotch glares at Spencer to shut up before taking over.
"I know this is hard, and if we had more time we would be more sensitive, but we don't."
"Hope was the drunk driver," Hallum sighs. "I didn't write it that way, but it didn't matter. Her drinking was no secret in town."
"Where's Owne's room?"
"Down the hall." Spencer leaves without another word, and you watch him walk off. Hallum points to a safe that is big enough to fit a couple of guns if you had to guess. "Here's the gun safe. I don't know the combination."
"Start with birthdays--Lou's, Owen's, and Hope's," Hotch says.
Derek tries their birthdays, but none of them open the safe.
"Try 11-10-75."
"November 10, 1975? What's that?" Derek asks and tries the combination.
"1775. Marine Corps birthday."
"You might have just sold me on that profiling of yours," Hallum chuckles.
Derek gets the safe open, and the only thing missing from it are the guns. Owen must have taken them.
"This is bad," Hallum sighs.
"How bad?"
"Lou was our tactical trainer. He had a whole collection of automatic weapons and handguns, which he taught Owen to shoot."
You excuse yourself from the main hallway and join Spencer in the bedroom. You want to ask him about Dilaudid and if he's taking it again, but you don't get the chance. Derek walks in seconds later.
"The gun safe is empty," he says to your boyfriend.
"That's a surprise," Spencer scoffs.
There is a picture of James Dean's porsche on Owen's wall, but no James Dean.
"That's James Dean's porsche, but no pictures of James Dean. That's a bad sign."
"Especially when your mother died in a car accident. Still haven't found the father of the year award," Spencer comments.
"Did you check his computer?" Derek asks when he sees Owen's desktop computer.
"It's password encrypted."
"Smart move if your dad is a cop."
"Yeah, assuming he cares enough to snoop."
"Spencer," you say in warning.
"Hey, Reid, check yourself. That sheriff out there wanted to take your head off. I think Hotch might have let him."
You three check Owen's closet and dresser, but every single clothing he owns is black, and that just adds to the pile that Owen isn't right in the head, and he committed these murders.
"All his clothes are black. So, Owen identifies as being a misunderstood loner. You know, I wish all our unsubs would just tack their profiles on their walls like this for us."
"This doesn't mean anything," Spencer says, a bit angry. "You grew up in Chicago, a high school jock, and did you have pictures of Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan all over your walls with trophies everywhere?"
"Yeah, but you forgot Walter Payton. Not to mention the sexy ladies of the sports illustrated swimsuit issues," Derek grins, not seeing Spencer is kind of angry.
"Smart money says you didn't paint your mirrors black," Spencer says, opening the closet door wider to show the body-length mirror was spray-painted black.
"I guess Owen didn't like what he saw."
Suddenly, you hear someone yell outside on the front lawn, and Owen's bedroom faces the front of the property. You sweep the curtains aside to see what's going on. There is a woman outside, angry, and cops who are trying to stop her from entering the house. You, Derek, and Spencer leave the bedroom to join your team outside.
"Don't try to stop me! I need to get by! Is it true?"
"Sarah, please," Hallum sighs.
"If it's true, you need to tell me. Did Lou's freak son shoot Byron?"
Byron is Officer Letts, and Sarah must be his wife.
"Go home to your kids, Sarah. The kids need you at home."
"My children need their daddy," she cries. "Send them home, you don't need them. You know what to do. You find that little son of a bitch. You find him and do what's right."
She leaves the property, and you turn to Hotch with a sigh.
"She really thinks Owen did this. Why do I get the feeling she's not going to be the only one with that sentiment?"
"Stay here and work the room," Hotch says to Derek. "Reid, Y/N and I are going to go to the high school and talk to Owen's teachers and friends. We need to get a profile and figure out where he's going."
"He's heading out of town. I just got a call that they found his car out by the interstate right next to victim number five."

Calcium's Crime Series Tier List
Years back I said I would do this because I watch way too many crime shows, so here is my tier list but of course, I can't just leave it at this so allow me to explain some things. Now, obviously, not every crime series is on there because Columbo would be among my favorites.
MY FAVORITES
Pysche is the best crime show ever, it is comedic, heartfelt, and probably the one that has aged the best (not perfectly). I could gush about it, but tallstheintrovert has a whole three-hour video essay about it on YouTube, and sums everything up beautifully. To put it simple: Ninety-nine percent of the show is a fake psychic annoying the police by solving their crimes for them. Also, it costars Karim Dulé Hill who is one of my favorite actors.
Cold Case hasn't aged as well, but the concept is unique and episodes will make you cry. As the title states, the entire concept revolves around solving cold cases, both recent and old, with flashbacks to the crime and giving people modern-day closure. Not only that, but it will showcase how bigotry and police corruption prevented cases from getting solved (although how well that age varies from episode to episode).
CSI NY is a spin-off in the CSI (Crime Scene Investigator) series so it is all about the people in the labs. Is it accurate? No, but it is still cool to see how evidence connects back. It hasn't aged well in many regards but I enjoy it greatly, and I think it has the best main lead.
OTHER COMMENTS
CSI: Crime Scene Investigator is the first in the CSI franchise. In my opinion, it is the best one on a technical level with a really solid cast of characters (I just like New York better).
White Collar and The Mentalist are good shows, especially because most of the show is dedicated to annoying the police. Sloan Stowe has a YouTube video about the Mentalist that I think is a good watch even if it contains spoilers.
Bones and NCIS are on here mainly because I have fond memories of them, not because I think they aged well or are good but because I watched Bones with my oma every day after school and NCIS with my parents so I am rather fond. I'd recommend Bones over NCIS, because it is more comedic and has a great cast of characters but someone once called it the Glee of Crime Shows and I hate I can't disagree with that assessment.
Castle is fun to watch, and has aged surprisingly in many cases at least compared to other crime series. For example, in the first seasons there is an episode about Vodun but treated with actual care and dignity or at least as much as crime series can manage. The main draw is not the main duo, the main draw is the relationship between the male lead and his daughter.
Law and Order SVU is a Law and Order show so it deepthroats the police every chance it gets, but it also has Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson and Ice-T as Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola, so...
Criminal Minds is tricky because it hasn't aged the best, and the show is known for its heaviest episodes to cause nightmares. Regardless, I think it is worth a shot because the cast is brilliant even if it is hard to watch most of the time.
Rizzoli and Isles is an interesting watch, but I wouldn't recommend it because it is very much a hit-or-miss type of show. The friendship between the two leads is a heavy draw though.
Chicago PD opens on a corrupt cop beating a man's face in and stealing his car. That is the main lead, who was an antagonist in Chicago Fire. Why did they do this? I don't know. Don't watch it. Watch Chicago Med instead if you have to watch something.
Blue Bloods is conservative. Don't do that to yourself.

Friday Fic Recs
As per usual, mostly smut ;) But this week, my bisexuality is showing!
What I've Read:
Criminal Minds, JJ/Derek, WC: 10,421 (WIP) Rated: Explicit || Author: mournful_shapes
Why I Love It: This is, admittedly, not a ship I'd ever thought about before. I love their friendship and consider them sort of a BrOTP, if anything. But holy shit -- this author writes smut SO well, I decided I'd read literally anything they write. And this is really good. I LOVE Derek/JJ being friends with benefits. Because above all else -- JJ deserves to get absolutely railed. (Bonus Points: This author always talks trash about Will and I love it!)
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily/Reader, WC: 2912 Rated: Explicit || Author: mournful_shapes
Why I Love It: As someone who has written threesomes, I can respect how difficult it is and this author nails it every fucking time. Y'all know I'm not really a /reader consumer, but I will literally read every single thing mournful_shapes writes because it's SO good. A Jemily threesome?? Delicious!
Criminal Minds, JJ/Emily/Derek, [Series] Rated: Explicit || Author: mournful_shapes
Why I Love It: The first work I read by this author was '3 Hearts Beatin' Fast' and I was instantly sucked into this OT3. This series is god-tier smut and it ticks every single box my horny, bisexual, heart desires. Honestly, this is *chef's kiss*. I have been consuming everything this person writes and I'm never disappointed.
Criminal Minds, JJ/Tara, WC: 837 Rated: Teen || Author: @ellegreenawayslover
Why I Love It: THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Soft, fluffy, JARA!!! I was so incredibly hyped to see a new Jara work in the tag. This is just a lovely little slice of life and at the end of the day, all I ever want for JJ/Tara is for them to have a wholesome, fluffy, 'forever after'. I am honoured this was gifted to me. Thank you so much! I know I'll be reading it often.
What I'm Writing:
Criminal Minds, JJ/Tara/Emily, WC: 88,239+ (WIP) Rated: Explicit
Author Update: I just posted Chapter 15! As of today, the published portion of this fic is now my 2nd longest fic on AO3 -- but by the time it's done it might end up being the length of Parts 1-2 combined! Wild!! I just finished writing Chapter 24 (140k+) and I have to admit, the plot is moving SO slowly with this one.
I realised this week that Part 3 has SEVEN plotlines, which sort of put things in perspective. I don't feel as bad for how many chapters it's taken to move things along. I'm just holding seven plot threads while trying to keep weaving them into the story without dropping any.
[Untitled Between You & Me Sequel]
Criminal Minds, JJ/Tara, WC: TBD Rated: TBD
Author Update: I have a clear outline for this one-shot and I've been chipping away at it in the background, but it's second priority right now. Compared to BY&M, this sequel is 85% tooth-rotting fluff, 10% miscommunication as a plot device for hijinks, 5% wedding-night smut! Wish I could clone myself so I could have time to crank this out, but until then, this will happen whenever it happens.

Love Letters: Part 2
A/N: I did not intend to write more than two parts for this, it’s shaping up to be a short series🤦I may not know where this is going or where we’ll end up, but god am I excited for the ride😆
Warnings: intimidation, implied threats, slight interrogation, gaslighting (idk if this counts as gaslighting, but I’m putting a warning in because it felt kinda gaslighty to me), minor anxiety/fear, stressful situations, the author not knowing this was to become a series
Part 1 | Part 3 |My masterlist
Hero spent the days after the gala laying as low as they possibly could without disappearing altogether. They didn’t know what to make of Supervillain’s…proposition. But they knew one thing: there was no harm in heeding the criminal’s “suggestion” to blend into the shadows for a while. Hero knew they couldn’t disappear altogether, for their absence might draw more attention than if they were to take a step back from crime fighting. A small step, an easy step. Stop a low tier villain here, break up a petty crime there, but nothing more. Above all else though, Hero had to keep a finger on the underground’s pulse. They didn’t know when or if they’d hear from Supervillain again, so their best defense against Other Supervillain was to be as in the know as much as possible.
Their mind was still reeling from the revelation that Politician was Other Supervillain. Hero didn’t know if they could wholly believe it…but it explained a few things. It explained how Politician had gotten the money for their successful campaign, how things they seemed to want to improve suddenly got taken care of even when they hadn’t garnered the support to do anything about it, and how they’d remained in office despite multiple attempts on their life by the city’s more ambitious criminals.
So, Hero had reasoned over and over again, either Politician was a chess master, Other Supervillain benefitted from their mayorship, or the master criminal and controversial figure were one and the same.
Hero bit their lip, turning the puzzle over in their head again. It was possible Supervillain had lied to them — about everything. But why? And why would they be working with Other Supervillain? Was it under duress? Were they playing a long game to take Other Supervillain’s mantle? What was the angle, and how did Hero play into it?
“That’s a wonderful question, darling.”
Hero whirled around. Other Supervillain stood in the shadows of the dimly lit street. Hero went stock still, their blood running cold, as the master criminal approached slowly. With all the ease in the world, Other Supervillain backed them against the abandoned brick building. Hero’s lips quivered as Other Supervillain crowded them, trapping them against the rough brick. Their eyes darted to either side. Crestfallen, Hero realized they’d wandered into the abandoned industrial center of town. The old factory was the pinnacle of the city’s devastation, and by virtue, the beginning of masked crime.
“You’ve gone awfully quiet, Hero,” Other Supervillain said humorlessly. Hero shrank under their gaze, curling into themselves as Other Supervillain leaned in closer. “I didn’t frighten you, did I?”
“M-maybe,” Hero shuddered. Maybe if they hadn’t gotten lost in their speculations, they wouldn’t have strayed so far from the observed streets. Maybe if they had paid more attention to their patrol, they wouldn’t have wound up trapped between a building and the imposing criminal bracketing them in with their arms on either side. Close, crowded, but not touching. There was that at least. That bit of space that teased clarity, and maybe even a dumb sense of safety.
Other Supervillain studied them closely. There wasn’t an ounce of distinguishable emotion on their face. All Hero could do was stare back at them, wide-eyed and with a tight chest.
“You attended my gala the other night. Why?”
“I—”
“Don’t,” Other Supervillain interrupted quietly, “think about lying to me. I’ll know, and I don’t have time to deal with you further. Answer my questions and nothing will happen to you.”
“And I’m supposed to trust that? Trust you?” Hero questioned skeptically.
Other Supervillain’s lips quirked in what might’ve been a wry smile. “When have I ever gone back on my word?”
Hero swallowed. Was there any sense in asking them to clarify what they meant by that? If they were talking about their life of villainy or as a public figure? Besides, Hero didn’t know if Other Supervillain knew what Supervillain had told them at the gala, so maybe they didn’t know that Hero knew who they were — if Supervillain was to be believed that is.
“I was following a lead.” A half-truth, but honest enough that Hero didn’t think it could be considered a lie.
“What kind of lead? I need you to tell me everything, Hero. The harder you make this, the less likely this will end amicably.”
“The stolen artifacts. I received a tip that they might be at the gala, and I went to retrieve them,” Hero hesitated, not certain if that was the answer Other Supervillain was searching for, or if they wanted Hero to trap themselves by allowing them to prattle on under the threat of…well a vague threat of being hurt.
“You’re searching for the artifacts? From the museum?” Other Supervillain asked with what sounded like doubt. Hero’s head spun. Fighting crime was so much easier when they could gauge what was going on in their enemy’s head or their next action, but Other Supervillain gave little indication to help them in any way.
“Yeah,” Hero nodded. “They were worth a lot of money. Could fund…I don’t know, but if a villain stole them and sold them on the black market…”
Other Supervillain pulled back slightly, but didn’t drop their hands from either side of Hero’s shoulders. Hero watched them wearily as the other seemed to study them from head to toe. Their breath coming a little easier now, Hero hoped that was all.
“I didn’t steal them. I’m not a petty thief.”
“I didn’t say you were. That’s why it’s called ‘a lead’, you follow—”
“Hero,” Other Supervillain chastised, “I’m losing my patience. Tell me, why did you dance with Supervillain?”
Hero flinched. “I didn’t know it was them, not until later.”
“What made you realize it was Supervillain?”

Love Letters: Finale?
A/N: I’ve loved writing this series and am already planning a spinoff or something because there’re still some things I’d like to explore with these characters. Idk when this is happening, because I have a few prompts lined up, but it’s happening 😊 Also just a head’s up that this is about 3.8k words. Happy reading! Huge thank you to @selene-stories for the amazing prompt that kicked this series off and all of your amazing commentary throughout the series💜
Warnings: Implied torture/past torture, blood reference/blood mention, confusion, healing, injuries, past restraints/reference to having been restrained, implied medical scenario, scars, deserved mental breakdown, angst, some fluff
(This is not a prompt)

Hero inhaled deeply. Their lungs nearly burst from the full breath. Lashes fluttering under their eyes, Hero was almost reluctant to open them, but knew the action was inevitable. They didn’t want to deny themselves the illusion of warmth and comfort of the bed that surely didn’t exist beneath them in place of the cold, damp basement floor and the rough ropes binding their wrists and ankles. Instead, they slipped further into that dream and burrowed deeper into the soft darkness of their subconscious. In the fraying moment between vague wakefulness and unconsciousness, Hero swore their cheek nestled into a cushy pillow that simply couldn’t exist. Somehow, it felt more like a reality to them than the absent chill of the basement that should’ve plagued them.
A sigh escaped Hero’s slightly parted lips. Slowly blinking their eyes open, Hero’s hands curled limply against—Hero’s brows furrowed. Mind swimming, they turned their head to the side and took in the dim room and the nightstand that met their gaze. Like a flood, their memories rushed to the forefront of their mind.
Other Supervillain had saved them. Other Supervil—Politician had saved them and had apparently killed Supervillain and Superhero…
“Dead, probably.”
What was Superhero’s fate? Were they confirmed alive or dead? Which did Other Supervillain prefer? Which did Hero prefer?
Uncertain and afraid of the answer poking around the edges of their mind, Hero curled up on their side and drew the blankets tighter around themselves, nearly burying themselves in the warm comfort of alleged safety. Other Super—Politician had promised not to hurt them, and waking up in a cloud of blankets and pillows surely indicated the truth in that declaration. Soothed for a time, Hero couldn’t fight the heavy closing of their eyes.
The next time Hero peeled their eyes open, golden sunlight peeked through the miniscule part in the heavy curtains of the bedroom Politician had left them in. They couldn’t note any changes in the room, if Politician or someone had checked in on them or if they’d been left to their unconscious state in blissful solitude this whole time. Some part of Hero argued that they could stay here forever, unbothered and unburdened, but the stronger part of Hero knew that they should get up and see just what their circumstances were.
Groaning, Hero forced themselves onto their elbows and fought to sit up against the headboard. Panting heavily, Hero laid a gentle hand on their abdomen. Their eyes widened. Bringing their frail hand to their face, Hero’s eyes narrowed and examined the dry skin of their wrist, and even their nails for any sign of the blood—their blood—that had spilled.
Not even a scratch remained on their skin. By all means, there was no sign of the rope burn or how the rope had peeled and shredded their skin until Hero had believed there was nothing left but bone to scrape at with every shift of their bonds.
Sagging against the headboard with a twist of their lips, Hero studied their limp hands. They wondered, briefly, what had been real and what they’d imagined. Their broken—or were they only bruised?—ribs were real, a fact echoed by the pull of pain in their torso whenever they moved.
Bringing their hands up, Hero went to scrub at their face, but where they thought they’d feel their own skin was only cloth.
Not just any cloth, though, Hero realized with a quick breath. The cloth was strong, nearly solid, the type of cloth used in supersuits. With trembling hands, Hero gently took the cloth from their face and turned the revealed mask over in their hands.
Why had Other Supervillain put their mask on them?
Admittedly, Hero appreciated that the master criminal had put them in something…less blood-soaked and grimy, but why had they given them their mask?
Hesitantly, Hero moved the blankets down the bed and exposed their lower half. The bruises and lacerations they expected to see were gone—if they’d even existed. The most evidence of their predicament lay in healed scars and reddened knees from being forced to kneel for so long. Aside from that, there were no serious injuries. There was only the memory, or the nightmare, of them.
Their lips twisted as they willed their leaden limbs into motion. Their bare toes awkwardly brushed the plush carpet as if they’d forgotten what it was to bear any weight—and Hero hadn’t even stood up from the bed yet. They didn’t know if such a feat was even possible.
Were their injuries truly that bad that they could only be partially healed? Or had more time passed than they’d initially believed upon waking?
Hero’s hands clenched into fists by their sides, the fabric mask crumpling in their fragile grasp. With one last deep breath, Hero hauled themselves to their feet. Their limbs bowed and Hero curled inward, nearly hunched over with drooping shoulders. Too weak to bear the weight of their body, they leaned against the nightstand to steady themselves. Settling a light hand against their stomach, Hero took a hesitant step forward in the hopes that their limbs would remember how to walk.
By the time they’d made it to the bedroom door, a few beads of sweat dotted their brow. Their breaths came in heavy puffs. It took a few embarrassing tries to get a handle on the doorknob and twist it as their eyes dotted with stars. But Hero managed to get the door open and lean against its frame as if they’d collapse.
Squinting out into the hallway, Hero glanced up and down its length in search of a sign—any sign with any meaning. But the hallway was empty except for the light and a long decorative carpet runner that covered its length.
Hero sighed, exasperated by the choice that lay before them. Was anybody here? Was Politician here?
Glancing down at the mask in their free hand, Hero wondered many things. What had they done to Supervillain? To Superhero? How could they be certain that Supervillain was dead but hesitant to declare the same fate of Superhero?
Hero’s blood ran cold. What had they done with the Ancient Sword?
Pushing away from the door, Hero hobbled down the hallway. Stiff and numb all the same, they kept a hand on the wall to keep them upright. More like, the wall held them up as they could not. Slowly progressing down the hallway, Hero sniffed. And sniffed again. Their mouth began to water, but no matter how much their mind urged them on, their body couldn’t go any faster than this snail’s pace.
The warm spice in the air beckoned them. Nearly dragging their exhausted body down the rest of the hallway, Hero stumbled out into a bright kitchen filled with that savory scent and an oppressive heat that billowed from a steamy pot on the stove.

The Lair in the Woods
A/N: I wasn’t really planning on posting anything of mine today, but I’ve had my eye on this amazing prompt by @some-messed-up-writing-for-you for a while now and decided today is the day! Prompt is in blue font!
Warnings: Nearly freezing to death, unedited, medical scenario, HIPPA violation because I think it’s cool if people with healing powers can sense old injuries/illness when examining another person
LMK if I forgot anything!
My Masterlist | Taglist Info | The Lair in the Woods series masterlist
Civilian staggered through the knee-high snow. Clutching their arms tightly around their middle, they tried to hunch their shoulders and tuck their head close enough to their chest to shield their face from the biting wind. It was a useless effort. The snow and howling wind blasted their body until they could hardly keep their eyes open. Trudging through the dense snow for what seemed like an eternity, sweat dripped down Civilian’s spine and collected along their brow. Their breaths were more like wheezes at this point.
They were never going to make it back to their cabin.
Supervillain let out a long sigh, dropping the papers they were studying back on their desk. “Come in.”
“Uh, Boss?” A henchman they hadn’t seen before poked their head into the office, not even daring to step over the threshold of the door. “We…found someone in the woods…during one of our, uh, one of our patrols.”
“And I care because?” Supervillain sat back in their chair, tilting the seat back slightly to stretch their legs out under their desk, and clasped their hands over their stomach.
“Other Henchman believes they’re a civilian and Right Hand can’t identify them, so t-they sent me to tell you.”
Supervillain studied them for a moment, turning all the different scenarios over in their head. It could be a hero. It could very well be a trap, an attempt to infiltrate their lair, but if Right Hand couldn’t identify them…
Their lair was fairly isolated, and in a storm like this, no one in their right mind would be out and about. By all accounts, their base was impenetrable today. Even if someone from one of the few vacation homes scattered across this mountain had lost their way in the woods, they would’ve known better than to go out on a day like today.
“Where are they now?” Supervillain stood from their desk and pulled on their jacket. Their winter fortress had a notorious heating issue in the sense that the hallways were freezing and only the rooms with a roaring fire or space heater were in any sense comfortable.
“In the infirmary with Right Hand.”
“You’re dismissed.”
The lackey bobbed their head and left without another word. Supervillain shook their head, lips pursed as they put on their weapons belt. They wouldn’t last long in Supervillain’s organization if they couldn’t make a report to their superior without shaking in their boots. Perhaps it was only the cold. Maybe they were still pretty new, but either way, Supervillain expected their resignation on their desk sooner rather than later.
With slow, deliberate steps, Supervillain crossed their office and locked the door behind them. They clenched their jaw against the cold air of the hallway that assaulted them as soon as they’d step foot over the threshold. The shock trailed down their spine, making them grateful for the fur-lined collar and thick fabric of their coat.
They had every intention of ransoming whoever it was that had shown up on their doorstep. Unless it was Mentor. They’d be more than happy to rid the world of the likes of them.
Quickly, they wove their way through the converted ski lodge they’d purchased for a bargain until they reached the infirmary, and with it the warmth of a space heater. The infirmary was on the main level of the lair, and therefore in one of the original parts of the old ski lodge. Supervillain doubted any patients would find must peace given how the wind howled right outside the thin windows did nothing to dampen the sound.
Right Hand had their feet kicked up on Medic’s desk, their laptop balanced on their thighs and their brow furrowed in concentration.
“So, who was dumb enough to brave this storm?”
At the sound of their voice, Right Hand glanced away from their screen, their eyes flashing with annoyance but the frown of their lips faded into an amused smirk when they realized it was only them.
They raised their brows. “I’m surprised Henchman didn’t pass out,” Right Hand laughed. “They might just survive in this job.”
Supervillain chuckled, stripping off their jacket and draping it over a spare chair by the doorway.
“As far as our human popsicle goes, I have no clue. There’s nothing on them personally to indicate any kind of association, hero or rival. I’ve checked every record we have on hero IDs and hacked the Union but so far nothing,” they grumbled. Their attention shifted back to their screen. “The Guild has better cybersecurity, so it might take me awhile before I can get into their system and find their personal records.”
Supervillain nodded. “And their condition?”
“Unconscious, but not hypothermic,” Right Hand said. Sighing, they added, “Medic says the patrol found them just in time. We just have to thaw them out and wait for them to wake up.”
“Lucky them.” Supervillain took a step closer to the medical bays, seeking out their prey.
As they approached the last medical bay, Medic swept through the curtains and ensued they were drawn, their focus entirely on the patient chart in their hands.

Love Letters (Part 1)
A/N: I had to search high and low for this lovely prompt by @selene-stories because I knew I had it saved in my drafts and it was a MOOD. So glad I found it again because I distinctly remembered the gist of it and needed something more flangsty than angst😅 Prompt and prompt lines (I repeated a line later on) are in blue font!😊
Warnings: betrayal, manhandling, violence, physical assault (in the form of hand-to-hand combat), gunshots/gun references/being shot at, threats, dangerous situations, emotional distress (not necessarily a panic or anxiety attack, but similar emotional state to both)
Part 2 | Part 3 | My masterlist
~ ~ ~
“Dear Hero,”
-the back of the invite read, in beautiful calligraphy; Not a smudge or hint of a trembling hand in sight.
Hero held the paper tighter, not quite sure what it was about it that made their heart flutter and their lips to curl upwards.
“I am delighted to know that you are attending the event. However, it is better to get in with an invitation.”
Hero had trailed their fingers over the letters too many times, even found themself doing it right at this moment. They had frowned the first time they’d read it, but now it brought them an odd sense of excitement.
“With growing fascination,
a potential friend.”
Perhaps attending it wouldn’t do them any harm. They did plan on snatching the artifacts the villains had stolen, anyway, so this way they wouldn’t even have to sneak in.
Besides, they should find out which one of their teammates (or even co-workers?) had left this on their doorstep, shouldn’t they?
Out of sheer curiosity only, their thoughts had lied. Nothing will go wrong, it is just a gift and an invite.
But of course it did, as always it all crashed and burnt, but Hero hadn’t thought it could ever go thisbadly.
“Stop trying to help,” they finally snapped.
But all Supervillain did was beam at them. “But then,” they purred, “what kind of potential friend would I be?~”
There was simply no rock big enough to hide under.
Hero stiffened. Their feet faltered, already weary of the dance they didn’t know but struck completely dumb by Supervillain’s implication. Supervillain tightened their grip around Hero’s hand as their words registered in the shocked mind of the city’s golden savior. Limply, Hero let the master criminal lead them through the steady movements, seemingly undeterred by their sudden stillness and sputtering. “You — what did you just say?”
“I said,” Supervillain started slowly, eyes scanning the crowd of party guests over Hero’s shoulder as they yanked them closer by the waist, “‘what kind of potential friend would I be?~’”
Hero’s veins seemed to strain from how tightly they’d coiled at the non-threatening forcefulness in Supervillain’s voice. This wasn’t at all what they’d expected of the master criminal. And they certainly hadn’t expected them to be the author of the mysterious invitation they’d received for this party. Vigilante, maybe. Teammate, most likely what with all their connections from having grown up in a mafia family. But Supervillain?
They should’ve known. The stationery they’d used was simply too nice to belong to anyone Hero knew and trusted. They should’ve known this invitation was a trap.
“And where,” Hero said through gritted teeth as they tried to regain their bearings, “did you hear that?”
“I wrote it,” Supervillain grinned. “Didn’t you recognize my handiwork?”
Hero swallowed. “So? You’ve caught me, now what?”
Supervillain’s expression fell. Their darkened eyes met Hero’s for the first time since they’d pulled them into this dance. Frowning, Supervillain said, “I haven’t caught you. I’ve saved you from doing something incredibly stupid.”
“Yeah, right,” Hero scoffed. Their breath caught in their throat as Supervillain spun them out and pulled them back in again, this time with their back pressed to their chest.
Supervillain’s breath tickled the delicate skin of Hero’s ear as they leaned over their shoulder. “Politician is Other Supervillain.”
The master criminal’s words were still sinking in as Hero found themselves being spun out and back in again. Wide eyed, they slowly forced themselves to meet the intense gaze of the master criminal still leading them through the agonizingly slow dance.

Visitation Rights
A/N: I saw this prompt and my mind instantly… well you’ll see😆Anyway, thank you to @nuttynutcycle for this prompt — this probably went in an entirely different direction than any one of us thought it would (if y’all are looking for something amazing and kinda dark for the same prompt, check out @yourheartonfire's prompt fill), but that's why I love writing prompts - you never know what you'll get!
Prompt is in blue font! | Warnings: minor violence, (verbal) fighting, Villain’s heart melting/wholesome fluff, language, about 2.5k words…. I didn’t mean for it to be this long….
My masterlist
Villain straightened and took a half step back to admire his work. The sunlight glistened over the lake outside, his own little slice of paradise, and warmly streamed in through the unobstructed window, pooling right on the fluffy white cushion. It was utterly perfect.
Crouching down he packed up his tools, sliding the drill bit back into its place amongst the others in the hard case. Pencil, measuring tape, level, and —
Villain reeled back, jumping to his feet. Adrenaline coursed through his blood as his eyes landed on the source of movement he’d scene in his peripheral vision. Spotting the jet-black cat circling around the top of the newly mounted window seat, Villain’s muscles loosened.
Tsking, Villain wagged his finger at the unblinking creature. “Vengeance, what have I told you about sneaking up on me like that?”
Purring slightly, the cat answered with a wide-eyed, affectionate tilt of her head, pausing in her ritual of settling into her seat as Villain had previously seen her do. Who knew he’d be a cat person? Who knew that ruthless, destructive, utterly evil Villain would take pity on a sopping wet cat with fear in her eyes, roaming the city streets just miles away from here?
Certainly not Villain.
Sighing, Villain gestured to the window seat, though more specifically the view outside the window as Vengeance turned her back to the room and laid down in the patch of sunlight streaming in through the window. Villain’s heart melted at the sight.
So small. So precious.
It was utterly devious — not to mention embarrassing — how such a tiny creature had managed to waltz her way right into his heart. And it’d only been a few hours! Not days, not weeks, but hours! And already he’d been convinced to install a permanent fixture in the middle of his picturesque living room all for one little black cat with a sob story.
Pathetic.
There was no other word for what had happened to him and his villainous integrity in the last few hours once he’d managed to get the poor thing washed and dried…
And then he’d had to bandage himself up. Big cats might like water, other cats might like water, but this cat certainly did not.
But once Vengeance was dry and had began to calm down…
She’d started to mewl. And then she’d started to weave between his legs, pawing at his ankles as she looked up at him, staring straight into his soul.
And that’s how he’d sent six henchmen out to find cat treats and toys and this window seat before dismissing everyone for the day and retreating to his lake house for… well he didn’t have to figure everything out this afternoon. He could make adjustments to his schedule to accommodate Ven as soon as he knew how much work a cat could be.
Leaving his tools to be put away later, he bent over so his face was level with Ven’s and scratched behind her ears as they watched out the window together. She immediately began purring and leaning into the touch, and Villain swore, nothing could ever make him happier. People, even other animals, tended to flinch away from him. Though he supposed the mask and cape and his reputation did that. Even his own henchmen, people he’d known for years, had grown weary and antsy around him. But Vengeance didn’t seem to mind him one bit.
Still, it didn’t stop the scratch marks she’d given him while trying to clean her up sting any less.
“Isn't it beautiful?” The villain gestured to the view below. “Your own window. See, when you're good you get treats.”
Not that he’d actually denied her a treat when the henchmen had come back to their warehouse lair loaded down with bags from the pet store. It was the only way she’d get in the cat carrier.
The cat only purred louder, resting her head against the cushion and turning onto her back, exposing her stomach. The ultimate symbol of trust.
“I think we’ll get along just fine, don’t you, Ven?” Villain smiled, indulging her.
