had session 1 of the campaign i joined! it was SO much fun!! admittedly i had to rush some character things the night before, but i went in not entirely sure how i was going to approach my character's dialogue ...... his name is cosmos, his overarching concept is Fall From Grace. he's been cursed, is extremely socially isolated as a result—not because people know he's cursed, but because his entire demeanour has taken a 180 and they're really weirded out by him—and is now a shell of his former self. he's kinda like..... idk? a fantasy take / metaphor / parallel or whatever you wanna call it of the general reaction that comes during or after a severe mental health episode. he's lost all sense of self care, is very unkempt, his previously cropped and maintained hair has grown long and wild, acts and speaks "strangely" and ultimately repels even the closest of friends. you know because i love making characters that are Very Deep, Metaphorically LMFAO
so yeah i didn't know how to approach his dialogue going in....... ended up deciding on the spot that he was going to be So Very Off Putting, verbally. he has very stilted dialogue, doesn't elaborate as much, quite curt. also prone to very stiff and persisting expressions (usually smiles or grins which don't waver easily). his actions and dialogue ended up resulting in a lot of laughs from the other players and the dm GFKLMGLKMG so i think he might be a bit of the comedy relief character currently but will get deeper in time. another player came up to me afterwards and told me how much he loved cosmos and thinks he's a cool character thus far and i'm playing him really well which is so flattering 🥹
cosmos doesn't really think before doing things, he doesn't premeditate he just kinda Does. which resulted in him almost getting stabbed by brazenly going up to another character whom had fainted on the beach, grabbing their shoulders and yelling loudly "ARE YOU OKAY" in their face FDKLMFDLKMFDKMLG he has an underlying sense of compassion which may be a bit harder to read because of his strange behaviour, which arises by trying to take care of others, including the joltik he found and proceeded to hold delicately in his palm for the remainder of the session
ultimately, i'm excited for session 2 ‼️
#oddity.txt#love the contrast between cosmos being the tallest character (6'6") and his pokemon being a joltik#aka a bug that fits into the crevice of his palm#and he's treating the joltik SO CAREFULLY ...... sobs

Is it just me or does Quaquaval remind me of Pavé from Animal Crossing?
Like, Quaquaval's dancing is practically the same style of shaka shaka, and I love it.
#rae is such a dork#Rae plays Pokemon Violet#I've only had like one game breaking bug and a few glitches where the Pokémon stop moving for a second#But other than that the game is pretty fun albeit a little overwhelming and confusing about direction#But I love games that encourage to explore every single corner and crevice so this is good

More ability forms, this time for Banette! (ft phantump)
@n0rtist started this amazing challenge! Please go check out the plethora of amazing art for these forms!
Some banettes are formed from dolls that have music boxes inside of them. Their pull string is damaged, and can never retract fully, causing the music box to play discordant music forever. These banettes can never rest properly and are constantly exhausted, sitting slumped in corners with limp arms. They are also the most aggressive due to their lack of sleep, willing to lash out viciously at the slightest misstep. Forever plagued by insomnia, these banettes have deep purple eye bags.
Since many banettes are found in long-forgotten places, they must be able to hunt for berries and items to survive. These banettes grow long fingers to search in every crevice they come across, and have a zippered pouch on their stomach for storing their finds. In battle, these banettes are particularly adept at frisking their opponents to find items that they have hidden.
Very rarely, a banette with the "cursed body" ability can be found. During their time as a doll, these banettes were the sworn protectors of the child that owned them. Having failed in their duty, they were filled with enough rage to come to life as a pokemon. Forever the loyal guardian, this banette will stay by the side of its child, even when they too become a pokemon, having met an unfortunate end deep within the woods. It will not fail again.
Phantumps change abilities with the seasons. In winter, they lose their leaves and gain "frisk" to help them find food. In spring, they grow flowers and gain "natural cure". In summer and fall, they grow leaves and berries, gaining the "harvest" ability.
Most phantumps have white flower petals in the spring. However, there is an old story about cherry blossoms, about how the petals turn pink after absorbing blood...
I do not give my consent or permission for my art to be re-posted on this or any other site without my explicit say so. I do not give my consent or permission for my art to be used to train any type of AI.
#i fuckin love banette so much!!!!!#lil guy needs a HUG and some LOVE#also yeah its a shiny phantump lol#i was originally just gonna do the shiny but then i remembered the story#and the pink cherry blossoms thing is an actual urban legend!! its so eerie and interesting imo#n0rtist this is so much fun!!#its a great way for people to get into drawing their own pokemon variants and fakemon#pokemon#pokémon#pokemon variations#pokemon ability forms#pokemon fanart#my art#pokemon art#pokemon dwebble#fakemon#ability forms#banette#phantump#tw blood#(its not like a lot of blood its just some old bloodstains!)

Zemifon, the elusive Fakemon
Name etymology: Zmei, a dragon from Slavic mythology + myth + gryphon
Type: Dragon/Flying
Many of these Pokemon live at the top of the mountains of Northern Yurosa, in crevices and caves so difficult to reach that its existence was doubted by Pokemon professors until 20 years ago. For this reason they are cautious around humans and can be dangerous to approach without appropriate preparation, especially when their mothers are nearby. Their hostility was the reason why the first writers and poets who wrote of it, in what used to be called legends, portrayed it as malevolent or even as an evil spirit.
This Fakemon was originally drawn 3 years ago as Corwyth, and it was half-crow rather than half-eagle. It was also more of a wyvern than a traditional dragon.
In the current design, the dragon half’s form was based mostly on the Welsh dragon, although the idea for the dragon half came from European dragons as a whole, especially Zmei, a Slavic mythical creature. Although, Zmei’s extra heads are too reminiscient of Hydreigon; neither Zemifon or its evolved form have more than one head. The tail is supposed to look sort of gen 1-ish?? I added lines to make it resemble Nidoking’s tail. The eagle half was made to look still somewhat lion-like. The head is fluffy and also resembles the wings of an eagle as depicted on the coats-of-arms of various countries.
It is loosely inspired by Azhdaya, a demonic version of Zmei from Slavic mythology (again, without the extra heads). Some depictions of Azhdaya appear to show it with partially feathered (but still webbed) wings, and this was what originally made me think of the gryphon-dragon idea. I originally wanted it to be part-wyvern, but decided to separate the wings from the front legs as was more similar to a gryphon.

I remember reading a Pokémon x Twst story that was during the “Putting Ingo in other media” phase and I just remember him saying to Crowley as he passed out from a concussion: “I am Ingo, and I think I have a concussion.” And how I really wish that author continued it.
But that leads me to asking; On a scale of one to world ending, how would the Twst cast be able to handle the Submas twins? Oh I can already see them working at the school temporarily (Ingo, sweetie, please tone your voice down. How are you louder than Sebek-) (Emmet-HOW MANY JOLTIKS DID YOU HAVE ON YOU-) trying to keep the peace (how little of it there is) between these teenagers.
OMG I READ THAT TOO CHJDKSNCJKSAMN
im pretty sure i also wrote something about Ingo and twst, i might get back on that and make a small story 'bout it
the twst crew realizes just how chaotic the submas twins are when emmet arrives, and they all realize that, when together, they have NO IMPULSE CONTROL and every single crevice is taken over by a joltik (jamil is shaking in his boots HA-)
if it weren't for their pokemon constantly reigning them in, i think the twins would simultaneously destroy and take over the twst world lol

After seeing all the human Milotic fan art, I'm curious as to how Octavinelle would be like with a Milotic (from Pokemon) MC/Yuu.
Oh. I’m not that versed with Pokémon stuff but I’ll do my best.
Description
In your previous life you were a beautiful and calming Milotic. When you were brought into the world of twisted wonderland you had become a strange mix of your previous self and a human. You struggled at first to grasp language but it seemed that your presence and abilities were still able to calm those around you. You were about 6 feet tall with cream colored skin. Bright red eyes and long beautiful red hair with blue along the tips. You had scales along your legs In an array of magenta and blue. When in the water your legs would change to a beautiful fan like tail. many around the school liked to be around you and showered you with gifts. But often you would disappear after calming any fights around the school only one group of students knew where you went in those moments.
Octavinelle
Azul: was the first one surprisingly to find where you went off to after you’ve calmed some of the fights around campus. He had his special hideaway in the octavinelle dorm deep under the sea. He goes there to relax after a long day to stretch out his tentacles and allow the pressure of the deep to massage the tension out of his muscles. One day he went to his usual clearing in a deep crevice near the dorm. He stumbled upon you laying on the sea floor in your mer form, dazzling magenta and blue scales out in display, a gentle pink glow coming from under your skin. He wanted to hide away, be angry at you for finding the one spot he was sure no one else could reach. But his anger dissipated when he made eye contact with you. You just smiled and invited him closer. He really liked your mer form and wanted to show it off to the world but in moments like this he was glad it was only just for him.
Jade: jade was fascinated by your abilities how you could seemingly learn magic but only a few things at a time or only use a set of magic at a time. He liked to watch you so effortlessly disarm a situation and calm everyone around yourself. Even sent many arguing people your way. Tried to convince you to join him in the mostro lounge to stop any fights. Though his favorite discovery was following you after you retreated from a fight you had calmed. He watched you walk into the octavinelle mirror. And watched as you stood in the small pool next to the mirror that lead out into the ocean around the dorm. Your legs transformed and you retreated toward the deeper parts of the ocean. He quickly disrobed and followed you. Coiling around you when he had finaly caught up. But despite wanting to ask many questions and test your scale strength he was already calmed and uncoiled from your form you both swimming to a canal cave filled with glowing moss to relax. He happily rambled about his interests and you shared a few things you remembered from your world.
Floyd: he thought you looked cool but hearing that you broke up fights just by showing up? He then thought you were super boring and a party pooper! He liked to call you oarfish, from the look of your pale skin and red hair. He was always grouchy when you showed up when he was about to fish someone and then he didn’t want to fight anymore! He was going to have fun! Meany. Grumpily went to octavinelle but saw something flash by in the water and immediately dives into a nearby pool to chase after whatever that was. When he finally caught up to the strange but pretty tailed fishy. When he found it was you he got pretty excited. He liked to compliment your pretty tail and fins! Probably did the equivalent of excited zoomies around you before calming down and falling asleep with you tightly in his hold and coils.

Have you reviewed avalugg yet?
Bergmite is one of those Pokemon that I find adorable but I rarely hear other people call out as such. Look at its little eyes, tiny feet, and little zig-zag mouth! What a cutie.
Conceptually, it's basically just an iceberg as a Pokemon, but it pulls it off well—the yellow and purple eyes pop and tie into Avalugg's colors, the ice has a chipped cragginess that really looks natural, and the white underbelly adds a bit of visual distinction. It's super simple, but very enjoyable.
Bergmite evolves into Avalugg here, basically going from an iceberg to a continental ice flow, which is the thing icebergs usually break off of. That works well thematically and makes it look a lot more powerful than its pre-evo, and while the two are pretty different, they're still similar enough that you can tell they belong to the same line. Also, the way it carries Bergmite on its back is cute.
Visually, I once again like how natural it looks, especially with the crevices on its back. This creates a distinctive visual motif as well. The way the pointed head matches the pointed tail to create an overall diamond-shaped body is also pretty neat.
My only nitpick is that those random white diamonds on the sides of its head look terrible, aren't needed, and break up the flow of the design. Also, I kind of wish the underside was white like Bergmite, just because it would make it easier to read. Still, a fine design.
Hisuian Avalugg is an interesting regional. Adding rock-typing was a strange choice because it makes it even worse than its original form instead of better, even if the basic idea of it being land covered in ice isn't bad. I feel like they could've at least gone ice/ground or something.
Regardless, the design is fine. I really like how they extended the random out-of-place diamonds on the side of its face into two pretty cool looking "tusks" of sort that work as a snow shovel. I also like how the brown lower body contrasts sharply against the light blue ice, in contrast to the mostly monotone original design.
The only thing I don't really like is the body shape. It being sort of a pointed ellipse just doesn't look all that natural, and I can't help but wish it was more rugged. I almost wonder if it couldn't have had some outcroppings on the back, which would've both hearkened back to Bergmite and also would've make it look a bit mountain-esq. Other than that, it's a decent regional.
Anyway, overall, some pretty decent 'mons. Bergmite is downright adorable, and both of Avalugg's forms are pretty solid ice monsters. Nothing super crazy, but perfectly competent and enjoyable.

Pokémon Perilous Heights
You've been up and down this mountain probably a thousand times. You know every tunnel, every crevice, every crack in every rock. And a nice story or five, to tell to the tourists who book your hiking tours. So the tour for the married couple who want to let her father relieve some old memories should be smooth sailing, right? There's always some danger involved, but nothing that's not manageable. Rampaging Pokemon, paths that are blocked by sudden rockfall, irregular weather or giant unmarked tunnel systems that lead deep into the mountain. Play as Hiker Henry and discover that there lies more beneath the surface of Mount Ygaros than he previously expected.
Features:
About two hours of gameplay, give or take
A mystery to uncover

Freakiest thing you've seen in the tangle GO
I suppose you're expecting some kind of ghost story, aren't you? Expecting me to say that I saw a group of faceless people gliding through the trees, or an uncanny, impossible road into realms beyond, or something of the sort. Hmph. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint, but if you want me to share the "freakiest" thing I've seen, it happens to be far more mundane than that.
It was a Passimian with its foot lodged in a crevice between two tree roots. There were claw marks on the wood where it had been struggling. Its body was withered, wrinkled, and unnaturally lean, and its fur was covered in glowing Shiinotic spores. THAT'S the "freakiest" thing about the Tangle. The fact that people and pokemon who stray off the paths get hurt.
I'll not go about spreading sensationalist stories that encourage unskilled tourists to wander off on petty ghost hunts.

HOW IT FEELS TO DISAPPEAR: DESCENT
FIRST/PREV | NEXT [Tell Blue you saw something.]
"Hey, uh... I'm- I'm so sorry, but I think I saw something weird..."
"... You tend to get that in a haunted graveyard," he replies flatly, turning to look back at you with a raised eyebrow.
"I- I KNOW," you scoff, "I caught plenty of Ghost Pokemon around here! I just... Don't think this was one of those...? I'm worried- what if it's a stray Pokemon? It looked tiny..."
He frowns, scratching his chin.
"You don't have to stay stuck to me at the hip, man," he replies. "You wanna look around? Look around. Just... Try to be careful, would you? Don't go too far, don't head up any other floors... Gods know what kind of curses or bad omens are lying around here."
You spring to your feet, nodding quickly.
"Of course-! Trust me, I wouldn't dream of doing anything reckless," you assure him. He laughs a bit, nodding in return.
"Good. Cause I swear, if I have to bury you, I'm gonna ACTUALLY go crazy."
You giggle with him, giving a big salute- although a part of you can tell he's not entirely joking. You brush the thought aside, though. You're a capable trainer- probably the most capable trainer in all of Kanto! You know you don't have anything to worry about.
"Well, you can tuck that shovel away, Mr. Gravedigger- I'll be fine! Cross my heart, hope to not-die." you tell him lightheartedly. "I'll just be right back, okay?"
He nods. "Okay."
With that, you step back, walking farther into this floor of the graveyard. You carefully maneuver around the various headstones- what kind of bad karma would it be to knock a grave out of place, you think with a shudder. But you're careful as always. Being cautious was never a problem for you, after all!
... You end up searching between the cracks and crevices of tombs and graves for a while, though. You feel about ready to call it quits, doing one last walk around the outer walls of this floor, when you finally spot the culprit of that brown little blur that had scared you so badly, hiding in a far corner behind a grave:
An Eevee.
The poor thing looks terrible... Thin, sickly, and trembling. Your heart sinks for it- Eevees aren't from this part of Kanto, and especially with the state it's in, someone must have dumped the Pokemon in the tower and called it a day. It's starving so bad, you can see its ribs, and you wonder; how long has it been here...?
You try to approach quietly, as to avoid startling it- but when it sees you, it still tenses, its hackles raising and its ears flattening against its head. You can't blame it- being abandoned by some cruel trainer must've done awful things for its trust of humans.
Still, you aren't going to get anywhere if its scared of you.

because i am a gigantic entomology nerd, i've gone in and sorted every arthropod-inspired pokemon by what order their inspirations are in. but that made me realize... there are a lot of insect orders that don't have a pokemon representing them- at least, in the official games. so, fuck it! i'm starting a project where i make fakemon for every taxonomic insect order that pokemon hasn't done!
(i'll be tagging this with #pokedex entomology project for anyone who wants to keep up or follow along themselves!)
starting us off is raphidioptera, aka snakeflies!
Grubble (Bug/Rock) hatches from eggs laid on stony riverbeds. it hollows out pebbles with its hard, strong mandibles and wears them to protect it from birds and other bug pokemon
when it's time to evolve, a grubble will burrow into a large rock and become Castalys (Bug/Rock). what it lacks in mobility, it more than makes up for in defenses. it's sturdy enough to tank an earthquake, and its jaws can dish out a mean crunch
eventually, a castalys will break out of its stone shell, emerging as a Raphidrake (Bug/Dragon). it may look strange and unwieldy, but its sturdy grip and winding neck make it more than easy for raphidrake to catch its prey. ancient legends say there was once a raphidrake that was so gluttonous, it grew to the size of a wailord- before it became such a problem that a local hero had to slay it in battle
their names come from grub + rubble, castle + chrysalis, and raphidioptera + drake. grubble is based on snakefly larvae. castalys is based on insect pupae and castles- the two are rock type because snakeflies often lay their eggs in rocky crevices. raphidrake is based on adult snakeflies, as well as actual snakes. it's also a slight pun on "wyrm"/"worm", with its neck looking a lot like an annelid

*Destino approaches the Lugia with a relaxed, arrogant saunter.* Destino: Well wel well, Susano. Susano. *They play around with the sound of Susano's name on their tongue, trying different pronounciations.* Mind if I call you Susy? I'm sure you don't. Now, I'm out here trying to understand why your kind is considered some sort of God. I've had encounters with others of your species and I just don't see it. Sure, you've got some size to you and I'm sure you're all powerful and stuff. But why on this planet does that make you some sort of God? Honestly, I feel I'm far more deserving of the title. At least I'd use my god status for something useful other than standing around looking intimidating. I'd actually get other Pokémon to do things for me. Fully embrace the whole worshipping thing, you know Susy?
A wonderful dream... shattered by the irksome voice of an interloper.
"Mind if I call you Susy?"
The wind has gotten still, darkened clouds mounting ominously. A singular gold gaze becomes seething hot, intense with a glow of power as they glare down the Absol.
The Pokemon spoke with a nonchalant tone, acted familiar with them.
The disrespect.
Cold words intruded upon the Absol's mind. An oppressive, domineering voice filled every crevice.
Are you challenging me?
Laughable even. But the Lugia was not one for jokes. This one sounded no different than the others.
With swiftness, Susano tightly grasped Destino in their Psychic wing. The winds whipped wildly around them, swirling to form harsh gales.
My kin only contains a fraction of what I can do.
You desire a taste of godhood? THEN YOU SHALL HAVE IT!!!
"HAVE ONE OF YOUR GODS SCAPE YOU OFF OF MY ISLAND! SHOULD I RETURN FROM MY MORNING AFFAIRS AND STILL FIND YOU HERE... I WILL PERMANENTLY ERASE YOU!"

hi I have a question thats kind of general in terms of gaming. Mastering mechanics or maxing some if not all aspects of certain games is pretty enjoyable to me and obviously I appreciate that about some of the stuff you do, my question is on whether you think mastery most readily comes from actually using guides and online references or people who just do and explore every crevice of everything themselves. I had like a two hour convo with a friend but she couldnt really figure out an answer!
aw i appreciate it lol
tbh i don’t think i can say either way though because i think both are required, usually? it does also depend on the game some i think, but like, for example i literally only play pokemon pretty much, and it would be ludicrous to re-document everything about pokemon myself, figure out everything about pokemon myself. sites like bulbapedia exist for a reason. that would essentially require the ability to read assembly and do software decomp to be considered a “master” of the game or a mechanic in it, which i just don’t think is reasonable! and knowing how to efficiently find & understand information about niche mechanics online is part of the skill, i think
that being said, reading guides online cannot replace hands-on experience and self-research. obviously if you want to master something you have to actually do it and that’s no different with video games. i think generally if you are really experienced with a game and playing it enough to be considered in some way a “master” of it you will naturally learn more about it or discover new things about it by playing it, including stuff which may not even be easily reference-able online
this ask makes me think of speedrunning and how popular speedgames have community resources and guides, but then when someone gets really acquainted with a speedrun, they may discover new routes or glitches on their own. this is basically how i feel about the topic in general including outside of speedrunning lol
#there’s also just. multiple definitions i think#like you can subjectively evaluate this multiple ways#maybe you do consider software decomp a required thing to be a master of a game#i don’t know! lmao#kiki was here#asks#anonymous#i answered this right as i woke up#sorry if my wording is poor

🎙️ Okay okay okay so I think I have this figured out.
Pecharunt = Pecha Berry, everyone knows this
Pecha berries = typically cure poison
Mythical Pecha Berry = rare type of Pecha Berry
Highland Mountain Pecha berries (no I definitely did not just go check the fic for this purpose) = also a rare type of Pecha Berry
Mythical Pecha Berry = somehow connected to Pecharunt
by this logic: Highland Mountain Pecha Berries = also connected to Pecharunt
Pecharunt = poison type with the ability poison puppeteer and the ability to make poisoned mochi
(This is an insanely convoluted theory please bear with me)
The connecting factor between the Pokemon going crazy seems to have something to do with Pecha berries, which I remember seeing a couple people in the fic saying they’ve been using shampoo or things like that which have Pecha berries in them, which maybe Pecharunt could have tampered with?
Kieran has been eating Highland mountain Pecha berries, which I already think have something to do with Pecharunt.
Pecharunt has a vendetta against Ogerpon, and by extension for this au, Kieran.
Pecharunt somehow managed to manipulate Kieran’s grandparents into sending him those Pecha berries, with the intent of somehow gaining control over him.
For what purpose I don’t know, but it wants control over him and that’s why his eyes have the purple ring around the pupils and he’s started to get the purple scaly looking rash on his shoulder.
Am I at least heading in the right direction theory wise?
You don’t even need to tell me what parts or wrong or how close I am, but am I even a little bit right?
Actually, you got something a little wrong about the Highland variety (which to be fair I hadnt flat out said yet, just implied.)
Yes they're rare...but not for the reason most think when they hear rare fruits.
Back before Kieran was around, hell before the loyal 3 incident, highland Pecha berries were EVERYWHERE in Kitakami...specifically on Oni Mountain and in the Barrens. Why? Because Highland Pecha berries thrive in rocky environments. Their roots absorb minerals from the rocks they grow around, with the most important roots twisting into the crevices where water gets stored.
In olden time Kitakami, Highland Pecha berries were a vital food source for many pokemon during winter, as they're hardy enough to survive colder climates. While they only fruited every few years, their abundance made that less of an issue for the pokemon and humans who relied on them.
...until the Loyal 3 incident.
Post loyal 3, the villagers began doing whatever they could to "be rid themselves of the ogre". Laying out traps, putting a bounty, anything...and one of those methods, was starvation. They figured they could have starvation kill the Ogre if they got rid of its main food source in the winter, the Highland Pecha berry.
Bit by bit, humans found the trees and cut them out, stripping the land of a vital resource. Nowadays only a few of these trees remain, mostly kept privately to sell the fruits out at ridiculous prices.
As for the rest of your theory...well
:)

What are your personal experiences with the Pokemon lucario?
As someone who lives in Sinnoh, I have a lot of experiences with Lucario. I guess I can share a few stand-outs, though.
I had one instance of having to help a Riolu out of a crevice and, once reunited with its parents, it evolved instantly. It was nice.
One Lucario came to me specifically to help a completely unrelated pokemon (A Happiny, iirc) in order to make sure it was just knocked out and not in worse condition.
I also had one Lucario who, for whatever reason, was scared of my Umbreon. A pokemon the Lucario had an advantage against
I definitely have more stories, and can expand on some of these, but yeah. Lucario is a massively loved pokemon, especially here in Sinnoh.
