Choi Jiho & Kwon Dahyun did not have it easy growing up, not when they were raised in a home that they did not feel safe or comfortable in. However, they both managed to pull through and became  well-established in their chosen fields. Jiho worked as a businessman and Dahyun as a medical device representative. In the year 1989, the two felt financially stable as individuals and finally got married after almost ten years of being together.

Jiho and Dahyun were set on creating a happy, safe and loving home not just for each other but for their children as well. and that kind of home was exactly what they gave their only daughter, Sanghee. She brought a different kind of joy to the Choi’s life and despite her parents having a busy schedule because of their careers, she was provided with all the love and attention that she can get. Her home may not have been perfect but it was close.

Sanghee was raised to make their own decisions and do whatever they wanted to do as long as they would be responsible while doing it. She made the most out of that freedom and were able to balance having a good academic life & a good social life. In terms of her career choice, despite the pressure to take on a big role in her father’s business company that her grandparents made her feel, she followed her parents advice and pursue her passion.

It took one day during her sophomore year of highschool to make her figure out what exactly she was passionate about. She was about to walk through the front door of her house after school when she overheard her neighbor stressing about having no one to watch over his child. Wanting to help him out, she was quick to offer to do it and after doing a good job at that, she has been the go-to of her neighbors when they're in need of a babysitter. Her part-time job led her to finding out that she wanted to spend the rest of her life not just watching little kids but teaching them as well. That is why she was quick to pick Early Childhood Education as her undergraduate degree.

In the year 2015, just a few months after graduating college, she passed the licensure exam was offered a job. As the years passed, her career flourished and she has become a well-loved preschool teacher that she was offered numerous opportunities by other schools. At the age of 25, she was becoming one of the best in her field and has finally found the school that she was very happy to work in.

People describe Sanghee as a very fortunate girl because in terms of her love life, she was successful as well for she was engaged to Dongyeol, her boyfriend for ten years and one of Korea’s most notorious homicide detectives. There was no question that her fiancé's career was not the safest one and that it was understandable why she was afraid of what would happen to him. Unfortunately, in the year 2018, her fear became a reality. Dongyeol was close to unveiling the truth about a high-profile case that he was working on when he was killed through a hit and run.

Her fiancé’s sudden death took a major toll on her but while it was difficult to carry on, she refused to let those who had her fiancé killed have control over her life. She focused her energy on grieving and on her career, all while taking care of herself because she knew that that's what Dongyeol would have wanted her to.

In the year 2020, Sanghee made the decision of packing her things and moving to Chicago. You see, she & Dongyeol travelled a lot together throughout their ten years of being together but it was the windy city that the two planned to move to after they’d get married. He may not be around anymore and she might not have a ring on her finger but she was set on putting that plan into action anyway.

She has lived in Chicago for a year now and she is making a name for herself in the field of education on this side of the world. She dreams of establishing her own preschool one day but for now, her focus is to try and actually live her life despite being very afraid of what the universe has planned for her.

and Sanghee is not going to stop until all the dragons in her life are beaten.

Upon moving to Chicago, Sanghee chose the name “Jiana” as her English name. She prefers to be called by her given name but has no problem with being called by her English name.

She is a pretty friendly and warm person but keeps to herself most of the time.

She's a gentle and sensitive soul. Her parents even call her fragile at times but she's trying her best to be independent.

She gets scared easily but she's trying her best to change that.

Because of what she’s learned and seen while working and because someone killed her fiancé, she believes that there are a lot of cruel people out there so trusting people is something she doesn’t do often.

Those were the words that Amelia’s mother said to her when she woke up crying because of a dream, the same words that she told herself in a bathroom in the courthouse. Why was she telling herself those words? Before we delve into that, let’s go back to the beginning.

On the 11th of May in 1988, the Scott family were blessed with a gift that they never expected to receive — a newborn baby girl. You see, shortly after Daniel and Cassandra got married in the year 1985, they found out that Cassandra cannot conceive children. The news broke both their hearts and it caused the honeymoon phase of their marriage to be over before it even truly began. For a while, the question of separation loomed over the two of them but they chose to stay with each other, stay and find another way to start the family that they always dreamt of having.

And find a way was exactly what they did. After three years of waiting for the adoption center to give them a call, their phone finally rang and they wasted no time in driving to the hospital where their baby was waiting for them. Seeing her for the first time proved to them that love at first sight existed and from the moment they held one of her hands each, they vowed to protect the greatest gift they ever received. They named her Amelia Ruth.

It will probably come as no surprise that little Mia grew up in a supportive, protective and loving home. She was a playful child, energetic as well. There was never a day when she wouldn’t be dancing in her hello kitty pajamas and that reminded her parents of how blessed they are. She is the light of their lives.

When Mia was old enough, she asked her parents where her name came from and, as always, they gave her the answer she asked for. Amelia Earhart and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, those were the names that were mentioned to her. Apparently, she was named after them because her parents believed that she, too, will make a big difference in the world one day. All she could think that what difference did Ms. Earhart and Ms. Ginsburg make? So she read the stories of these two powerful women, and it was those stories that taught that no matter what society tries to make her believe about the limitations of a woman, she can do anything that she wants to. Her parents worked so hard to get her that opportunity and she was not going to waste it. She was going to make them proud. One day, she will make a difference.

Now, let’s go back to what was left hanging at the beginning. Why was Amelia was telling herself those words while she was in the bathroom of the courthouse? Well, it’s because she was about to enter the courtroom and defend a high-profile client who was accused of a crime that he did not commit. It was not the first time that she had to do that on her own but that did not change the fact that she was nervous about entering the courtroom. Another person’s life was in her hands after all, a life who she can make a big difference in. All she had to do was win.

And she did. Amelia and her client had the odds against them when she begged her boss to let her take on the case. It was the first thing that she wagered the career that she spent the past three years of her life working so hard to build and all the risk paid off the moment the handcuffs were taken off. The hug she received once it was off reminded her of why she was doing this, of why she worked so hard to get accepted in & graduate from Harvard Law School, and of why she chose to pursue a career in criminal defense. She wanted to fight for the people who no one was willing to fight for, to give those people the chance that they deserve but are unfortunately deprived of. With her name now on the map because of the case, she had the opportunity to do it and like every other opportunity she was given, she was not going to waste it.

It has been two years since then and Amelia is now on her way to being one of the prestigious criminal defense lawyers of the country. She is known to be a big risk taker in their field and while every risk had its losses, not once did she regret it because not once did she lose the most — the freedom of her wrongfully accused clients. It is going to get harder from this point on but it will be worth it. And in the instances that she forgets that, there are four... no, five sentences that remind her the time.

After he made the deals he needed to do so, he visited the landmarks that was recommended to him. A cafe near the Willis Tower was where he met a pediatric surgeon named Abigail. She was in a rush, causing them to bump into each other, and he ended up spending the rest of his trip and of his life with her. In the year 1996, three years into their relationship, Aslan and Abigail got married then moved to Turkey.

In the year 1997, Abigail gave birth to twins, Atesh and Aiyla. They brought a different kind of joy to the Kaplans’ life. Despite the Kaplans’ hotel company thriving and how busy both Aslan & Abigail were with their respective careers, they provided the boy & girl with all the love and attention they can give, and Atesh and Aiyla did the same. Their home wasn’t perfect but it was close.

In terms of their careers, their grandparents may have pressured them to follow in their father’s’ footsteps and take on a big role in their family’s prestigious hotel company or follow in their mother’s footsteps and pursue a career in the medical field but their parents told them to do neither if they did not want to. Aiyla was planning to do exactly that.

Growing up, Aiyla found a love for dance. It’s just a hobby, her grandparents said, but it was so much more to her and her parents supported her pursuing that passion. That is why she was quick to accept her dance scholarship that Juilliard offered her. Everything was going perfectly for her but, unfortunately, life wasn’t ever meant to the stay that way.

Shortly after Aiyla and Atesh’s highschool graduation, the Kaplans chose to spent the weekend in their family’s beach house to celebrate that milestone in the twins’ lives. After spending their day on the beach since after eating breakfast, the Kaplans turned in for the night and prepared for their dinner and karaoke. Now, as they were preparing, a fire started somewhere in the house and the fire grew too big, too fast. The four Kaplans were all rushed to the hospital but only Aiyla was saved. There were numerous questions about what started the fire, some even had a theory that it wasn’t an accident, but the eighteen year old was taken of Turkey before the press would get the chance to harass her with their questions and assumptions.

Losing the three most important in her life on the night that she was supposed to be. celebrating unsurprisingly took a toll on her mental health. It didn’t help that someone might have planned for this to happen and that her parents might have saw it coming. Why else would they have left a letter addressed to Aiyla and Atesh in case something bad happens? In that letter were the security codes she needed to gain access to the money they saved up for her future, the explanation of why they chose to put her aunt who lived in Chicago as her primary guardian and the request that she doesn’t live the rest of her life trying to piece the puzzle together. Of course, that was easier said than done but she was committed to doing so for her parents and for her brother who did not get the opportunity to fulfill his dream of being a film director.

Aiyla still accepted the scholarship to Juilliard and during her first year of college, it was difficult to not completely lose the spark but she had the photo of her family on their last day together in a frame on her bedside table, reminding her of the source of that spark. For the rest of her life, she carried her losses with her, her grief, and as unbelievable as this sounds, it kept her going.

Aiyla believes that no one deserves to be treated unkindly so she never treats the people in her life that way, not even those who caused her harm. This makes her vulnerable but she does not see that as a problem.

She tries her best to find the silver lining in things even if that’s not the easiest thing for her to do anymore.

She has the tendency to cares too much when a person is very important to her.

After losing her family, she became more fragile and it does not take a lot for her to be affected by something.

Knowing that someone planned to kill her family, she believes that there are a lot of cruel people out there so trusting people is something she doesn’t do often. While she is kind to everyone, it takes a lot for her to let open up and let people in.

she went to college out of silver creek to study photography bc she loves capturing all those special moments forever, yano? came home at holidays and birthdays since she was only abt an hour away. met ‘the love of her life’ when she was in college and ended up moving to denver with him, getting enganged while maintaining the habit of visiting silver creek for the Big Stuff. moved back to silver creek permanently a year ago after finding her fiance in bed with her best friend, focusing now on having a good time to ignore her heartache tbh.

wants to open her own photography business!! currently working freelance and is doing well enough for that with some contracts with different companies but her goal is to one day have her own business (also to marry some really hot dude to shove it in her ex's face, she’s a tiny bit petty abt this give her a break).
