i just bought an ungodly amount of curry powder so i better learn how to cook
#it was either a tiny jar that was double the price#or a huge vat of it that was cheaper... and let me even get some more spices to add#so now i have so much curry powder and other spices that we don't really consume#all because i want to try to make creamy chicken curry this weekend dkjfhdkfg#this is what happens when you don't have an indian restaurant close to you#and when you're white as fuck and need to meassure your spices for white people's palates lol#i'm sure i'm gonna use like half what the recipe asks for kdjfhgkdfg#anyways... i've made naan before and now i'll make curry :')#wish me luck!#fkjgdkfg#angel talks#personal

From the same economy rice stall as yesterday, is this box of Takeaway Dinner. I picked totally different dishes from last night’s meal. Sliced and fried then stewed potato, silky soft egg tofu and fried chicken with plenty of curry leaves in a sweet and creamy glaze.

So many of my favourite memories are tied to food. I got a meal kit this week and made the first one and it tasted just like what my dad used to cook me after swimming lessons 🥺
#my dad used to just call it ‘chicken and rice’ but today i found out it was pretty similar to thai green curry#except that my dad toned down the spice a Lot. but i guess he still used a lot of the same herbs#so it was basically chicken and mushrooms in a creamy lemongrass sauce#this was The closest thing i’ve had to what my dad used to make. it’s crazy#it’s one of those lost meals that i’ve never tasted since. like the butter chicken my friend’s mom used to make#i need to get the full ingredient list and experiment. i can absolutely cook this for myself#personal

I tried the ala carte 9-pcs Spicy Chicken McNuggets (S$7.80) from McDonald’s Singapore last week. These fried chicken nuggets are zinged up with cayenne pepper and chilli powder, so you get a subtle kick of heat. Dipping them into the curry sauce make them even nicer. Like the above burgers, this one is also available for a limited time only, so hurry, go try them before they are taken off the menu.
Mum had the Extra Value Meal of Filet-O-Fish (S$5.50) with the default medium French fries and a small drink. Actually, she only wanted the burger itself but I got her the set meal as it is more worth the money.
The Yubari Melon soft serve is also back for a limited time. Bought the Yubari Melon Cone (S$1.20) and eat it as I made my way to the supermarket at the basement level. The melon flavour is fragrant and the vanilla-based soft serve creamy though a tad sweet for me.
Mum said she craves some ice cream so I bought her back to McDonald’s and bought both the Yubari Melon Twist Cone and Yubari Melon Cone (S$1.20 each). I wouldn't normally buy the twist cone version but it is just for the camera. :D

been a while but here's what i'm cooking this week, extra special and laborious since it's my gf's bday this week:
a very easy red curry w rice noodles + chicken + coconut milk
another very easy pasta dish, maybe w bacon, but mostly just with parm and butter
big container of homemade garlic dill pickle chips
frying some of those pickles w creamy herby homemade ranch
MAYBE i'll make a batch of brown butter miso chocolate chip cookies to keep around for a snack if im feeling crazy
big fluffy buttermiilk pancakes w a side of thick cut bacon and a generous drizzle of maple syrup
cold crisp cucumber salad w snap peas and lemon and red wine vinegar and herbs and maybe feta
fried chicken sandwiches w the homemade pickles, mayo, + brioche buns. the meat either dry brined w spices, salt, sugar, + msg uncovered on a rack in the fridge or brined in whatever pickle juice i have leftover
a fudgy, decadent 4 layered mud cake with dark chocolate ganache and fudge frosting. i splurged for fancy baking chocolate and dutch process cocoa to make it extra special + itll be topped w birthday candles, same as last year :))
