Yet, if Annieâs been doing this for ages, then it ought to be safe.

After typing in the necessary numbers and confirming theyâre correct, youâre so out of your own head that you donât even realize the line switches from slight static to smooth nothingness.
âSo you finally called back.â
âShit!â
The buttery smooth greeting â or lack thereof â makes you nearly drop your phone.
You gasp and manage to catch the device just in time to hear a chuckle, graveled and low, on the other end.
âAnd just as jittery as last night.â
âLevi,â you greet breathlessly, straightening your outfit like he can actually see it.
You swear you hear a smile in his voice.
âHey, baby.â
Oh sweet Jesus.
âOr do you prefer it when I call you Scarlet?â
You prefer literally anything heâll give you, is what you want to say back, but you donât want to automatically appear as though youâre ready to be walked like a dog at minute one.
âIâm⌠fine with âbabyâ,â you confess after a beat, focusing on the swirl of the marble counter below you just to dissociate to his voice.

âVery mundane and super lackluster,â you admit. âIâm sure youâve had a much more interesting day than me.â
âI wouldnât say that,â he replies without skipping a beat.
âNo?â you ask with a smirk. âIâd say getting people off with the sound of your voice makes for a pretty interesting job.â
âWho said itâs only just my voice?â

The phone shifts from your right shoulder to your left.
âIt isnât?â
He makes a noncommittal hum, and it runs straight to your core. âThat's confidential, sweet Scarlet."
"Boo," you joke. "You're no fun."
"You haven't seen me at my fun yet," he corrects. "Speaking of fun: how are you not hungover?"
âThe power of heavy tylenol and H2O? Which... I have to apologize that."
"For what?"
"Uh, I pretty much poured my heart and soul out to you last night.â
He chuckles. "I didn't mind it. Feeling any better about that situation?â
âI havenât really thought about it since last night, so youâre already a miracle worker.â
"Oh?"
"Yeah, no joke."
âHuh." He clicks his tongue. "And what have you been thinking about?â
You say it without realizing youâve said it out loud:
âYou.â
Both ends of the phone go silent.
Your eyes widen, wanting nothing more than to take a pan out of one of the cabinets to bash your head in with anguish.Â
âIn, like, an interested sense.â
Shit, that isnât much better.
âAn⌠interested sense,â he repeats, slower this time. His vowels dip deep.
âOh no,â you bemoan. âOkay. Let me restart: I mean it in like a â you were on my mind? Today, sort of way. So I called.â
â...uh-huh.â
âBecause the call ended so quickly!â you add. âI didnât think it was going to end so abruptly at the fifteen minute mark, but I wasnât done talking to you, so I called again.â
âYouâre shit at asserting yourself, arenât you?â
His words make you blink twice.
âHuh?â
âYou donât like making decisions or having to explain things,â he replies without judgment. âYou think if you want something, then it makes you selfish.â
Ouch.
âWell, when you put it like that,â you reply in a bitter, yet lifted tone of surprise.Â
You hear a noise on the other end. A âtchâ if you can make it out.
âSorry," he apologizes. "Too far?â
âNo! Too real,â you admit with a small laugh. âAnd Iâm sure you donât want to play analyst-therapist tonight, so.â
âIâm here to do anything you want,â he reminds, syrup-y sweet.Â
âAnything?â
âMostly anything,â he adds, and thereâs a tiny chuckle bubbling between the words that makes your heart flutter. âCanât hold a tune worth a damn and I donât know how to speak some languages, so there are limitations.â
You laugh despite yourself, feeling your stress melt.
Thenâ
A small groan, like his head's tilting backwards. âDamn, I like hearing that.â
You turn away from your kitchen counter, subconsciously padding to your bedroom. âHearing what?â
âYour laugh,â he explains. âItâs sweet.â
âSweet?â
âVery.â
âIâll take your word for it,â you say, rolling your eyes playfully.
Dark hair. Gray-ish blue eyes. Sharp nose. High cheekbones.
Fit.
When your eyes flicker to your own bed, you try to picture a version of him waiting there.
He could be leaning back on his elbow, button-down shirt splayed open like a newly-peeled present.
Maybe his legs are parted.
Maybe he stares at you like youâre all he could ever want.
His voice cuts through the fantasy, causing your breath to catch.
âWhat do you want, baby?â
Then it drops an octave lower.

As much as your face feels like it's on fire, you slowly walk to your bed and put the phone down between your splayed palms.
You press the speaker option to âonâ, and feel a wave of arousal hit your gut when you hear him sigh through the phone.
âI thought you said you wanted me to be selfish,â you remind, bending over your bed.

You exhale, trying to keep it together.

Even on speaker, his voice rips straight through you.
âGreen,â you decide, blurting before your brain can catch up.
âGood girl.â
Youâre not going to survive this.
âAre your lights off?â
âYes.â
âGood,â he decides. âI want you to crawl slowly onto the bed now. Can you do that for me?âÂ
Your hand slides obediently, passing over the phone as you begin to rest one knee on the mattress. It dips with give.Â
âAll the way up to your pillows, then you can lay on your back â but keep your eyes closed.â
âOkay.â
Eventually you drag your phone with you as you crawl to the headboard of your bed, only to then slowly turn around and drop to your back.
âAre your eyes closed?â
With the phone speaker right at your ear, it almost lends itself to the fantasy of him hovering above you.

Charles has always left Edwin little notes slipped between the pages of his favorite books, in his science equipment, places he knows Edwin loves. Just silly thingsâpost its that say âhi Edwin :)â. doodles of Edwin with his nose stuck in a book. reminders to stock up on wolfsbane. but.
Then, post canon, Edwin tentatively starts dating people. And itâs ridiculous, because Edwinâs right there, all the time, but Charles..misses him a bit. And his heads a mess, and he canât sort out what the hell heâs feeling most of the time, and whenever he tries to say any of it out loud it comes out rubbish.
So. He writes down some of the shit he canât say right, and because heâs a coward, hides them so he doesnât have to see Edwinâs face when he reads them.
then Edwin starts writing back.
Neat lilac blue little envelopes appear in Charles coat pockets. In his bag. Once, in his shoe? Some nights, Edwin will clear his throat and mention something from a letter, offhand, like theyâre just picking up conversation, and Charles can pretend they are. That they always have talked about the basement, the belt, the nameless fear that chokes him every time Edwin walks out the door with someone else on his arm.
Sometimes he canât. The words get stuck in his throat. Edwinâs not mad, heâs maddeningly, stubbornly kind about it, which is worse.
Some nights they trade. A secret for a secret. Charles learns about the novels Edwin used to hide under his mattress, about all the lonely years before Charles got there. About Simon.
Meanwhile, Edwin is losing his mind, because Charles has accidentally stumbled onto what was a fucking courting ritual in his time. Love letters were something engaged couples treasured for years, kept and reread over and over. (Edwin does. keep them in a special box, will take one out and trace the words, tuck it in his breast pocket for courage).
Edwin would rather have to reattach a limb again than lose Charles trust, all the dark and beautiful things he shares with Edwin only. He knowsâknows Charles doesnât mean to make him fall more in love with him.

fiber arts really is such an insane category of Things in how it can draw you in. like, 6 or 7 years ago i learnt to crochet and made a few terrible hats and scarves. then i learnt to knit because i wanted to knit a scarf for my friend (now fiance :D). then i realized it should be a woven scarf so i picked up weaving instead, but i still really liked knitting so now i was doing 3 crafts. somewhere along the way i started dyeing yarn as part of my kitchen experiments, and then i was like fuck it i wanna make my own yarn ! and that is where the problems happened. in the span of like 5 years ive acquired like $2000 of various tools (spinning wheel, combs, cards, blending board, several looms, etc), bought dozens of fleeces, and now my bedroom is basically a craft room with a bed, i have wool covering every flat surface in there as well as a huge dresser full of wool and several large drawers full of wool, i meticulously scrape every last bit of avocado out of the peel so i can use it to dye fleece, and i donât go anywhere (including in my own house) without at least 2 knitting projects and a spindle.
im not complaining or anything, but the rapid shift from âguy who does stuff, idkâ to âguy who is worryingly obsessed with wool and will infodump at length about medieval sheep husbandry and the history of nettle as a textile if you give him half a chanceâ is like. extremely funny to me.

Eddie drunkenly calls Buck from wine night, confesses some things. On ao3 here.
Eddie calls him at 11:34 pm, and itâs a Thursday, so that means a few things. Itâs wine night, the biggest thing. Itâs wine night, at Hen and Karenâs, and he knows those start around dinner time so Eddieâs got several hours of alcohol in him. Itâs 11:34 pm and Buck got off work at 10:45, another thing, so itâs a toss up whether Eddie timed the call to when he was walking through the door (a feat possible after years of going back and forth between the station, the loft, and the Diaz house at all times of day and night) or if itâs just a drunken coincidence.
âHello,â Buck answers the phone, dragging out the first half of the word, tossing his keys into the bowl on the counter.
âBuck,â Eddie says, voice bright and not very slurred, but heâs only said one word so far, and Buck sometimes secretly thinks he could probably say his name pretty steadily no matter the situation. Buck is pretty sure he could be all drunk or half dead and still be able to say Eddie just fine, anyway. âHello. Are you home from, did you get home from work?â
Ah, so, somewhat drunk then. âDid indeed. You still at the Wilsons?â
âDid you, uh- was there fire?â Eddie sounds like heâs trying very hard to sound normal. Buck bites his lip against a snort.
âNo fires. Just a half shift, remember. Pretty boring one, honestly.â I missed you probably isnât fair to say, Buck covered the shift of his own volition, he could have been at wine night if he really wanted. But Donovanâs sister had a baby, what was he gonna do, not let the guy meet his niece? âHope you had a better time.â
âGreat time,â Eddie says, enthusiastic. âThey had, uh, mini quiches.â
Buck grins at the empty room. âYouâre a man who loves a mini quiche.â
A few seconds of whooshy silence where Buck assumes Eddie is nodding enthusiastically. âThe- uh- they had the bacon kind. The kind, and with the- you know, thereâs spinach? Can we go to Costco?â
âSure,â Buck agrees, opening his admittedly pretty sparsely populated fridge. âCould use a grocery run.â
âAnd get the, get more quiches?â
Buck grabs a protein bar, smiling as fondly as he wants to with no one around to see him. âYeah, Eds, weâll get more quiches.â
âAnd youâll take the spinach ones? And I get the good ones?â
Buck laughs. âThe spinach ones are good. You can barely even taste the spinach, theyâre just, like, warm and eggy.â
âMmm,â Eddie says, doubtfully. âItâs not nice to lie, Buckley.â
âIâm not fucking lying,â Buck cackles. âYour spinach hatred is so unfair, whatâd it ever do to you?â
âTaste bad,â Eddie says, adding a blegh sound for emphasis. âItâs like- like- itâs gross, I donât believe you actually like it, actually. You just want to eat grown up food.â
Buck snorts. âMan, I hate to break it to you, we both turn 34 this year.â
âAnd I donât feel like I have to prove that to anybody by eating nasty food,â Eddie says, nose definitely in the air. Buck shakes his head and takes a bite of the protein bar.
âWhatever, man. You just have to live with the fact that Chris is the one sneaking vegetables into your food.â
âYouâre so mean. Iâm not letting you have any of my actually good quiches.â Empty threat, they always end up sharing, both of them know it. âThatâs not even what I called about. Thatâs not even-â Eddie huffs so hard it sounds all crackly in Buckâs ear. âI called to tell you that I love you.â
Buck grins. Oh boy, affectionate drunk Eddie is here. Heâd wondered just how much wine theyâd got through and it seems like Eddie must be nearly a bottle in. âAw, love you too, bud.â
âNo,â Eddie says, and Buck can see the frown from here. âBuck. Listen. Iâm in love with you.â
Oh. God. Oh god. âUh-â Buck says, stomach swooping all over the fucking place, âUh- I donât think this is a conversation we should be having while youâre-â
âOh, fuck off, shut up. Shut up. Itâs fine.â
âEddie-â
âBuck,â Eddie says, in the annoyed voice he uses when Buck is trying to get him to eat yogurt with his fruit in the morning, or even a dastardly spinach quiche. âItâs fine. Itâs fine. I knew youâd- why- stop it. Listen. I feel like this all the time. Itâs stupid that Iâve never, like, I never just say this all the time. Youâre, like-â
Eddie cuts himself off and Buck waits â sort of fearfully â for him to continue, but the silence keeps stretching on. Buck knows the other side effect of this level on the Eddie Diaz Drunkenness Scale is heightened distractibility, so he probably noticed a nice color or perhaps a bug. They spent a good twenty minutes hanging out with a grasshopper at Hen and Karenâs wedding towards the end of the night, because it was a lovely shade of green and a funny little guy. Oh god, Buck thinks again. I love this man. I love this man a ridiculous amount and we should absolutely wait to talk about it.
But: âYouâre tall and youâre in my house,â Eddie says before Buck can do anything to stop him.
âIâm-â Buck glances around the loft. âEds, Iâm at my place.â
âWhat?â He sounds so indignant that Buck has to cover his mouth to hold a laugh in. âWhy?â
ââCause I live here?â
âThatâs stupid. You should live with me in my house.â
âShould I?â Buck asks, laugh escaping a little bit. âAlso, wait, what does me being tall have to do with it?â
Eddie sighs, long and exasperated. âIf you live with me you never have to go home and leave me because youâre already at my house. Your house. If you live with me you never have to go anywhere.â
âNever have to go anywhere?â Buck thinks heâs in shock, maybe, about all of this, but teasing Eddie is something thatâs always easy to fall into. âI donât have a job in this scenario?â
âWell youâd go to work. And other places. But you just come back to me all the time.â
âIâd like to come back to you all the time,â Buck says, choking a little on how simply it explains every ache in him. âEddie-â
âAnd youâre tall because⌠it matters because youâre tall becauseâŚâ Eddieâs voice is soft, his breathing is soft. Buck wonders where he is in Hen and Karenâs house. In a hallway, tucked away from everyone, the nice light from the stained glass lamp they have there warm on his face? On the back porch, out in the cool night air? Buck wants to tell him to come home, wants to make sure heâs warm. âI never had to look up at anybody before.â
âIâve got like two inches on you,â Buck replies, but his voice is pretty quiet.
âItâs a big two inches,â Eddie says, just as soft. Then, also quiet but of an entirely different flavor, âThat's- Sorry- that's what she said.â
âThat's-â Buck snorts. âWhat-â and then giddy laughter bursts up out of him, baking soda and vinegar, foamy and ticklish. He cackles till heâs breathless, listening to Eddieâs responding chuckles over the line, and sinks down to the floor, back against the kitchen island. âYouâre so fucking stupid.â
âI scored better on my certification exams than you.â
âThatâs not even true!â Buck protests over Eddieâs continuing laughter. âOnly in two categories!â
âOverall percentage was higher!â Eddie reminds him, as he does every time they have this argument.
âWell, I remember building construction and related hazards better than you and thatâs written down on official paper somewhere.â
âNot fair,â Eddie says, as he always says. âYou- you did- you built those. Unfair advantage.â
âI think youâre overselling the kind of experience I got in a few months working construction like a decade ago.â
âIt wasnât a decade when you took the tests,â Eddie points out. âWhatever. Nevermind. And I donât want to sound like- youâre good at remembering things. Youâre not stupid. I donât want to sound like you are.â
Buck taps his boot against the sink counter in front of him. âI know. Youâre not either.â
âI know,â Eddie says, soft again. âBut your hands are big, and⌠youâve got stubble sometimes, andâŚâ he trails off into just breathing on the other end of the line for several long moments. âBuck,â Eddie whispers in sleepover voice. âHave you ever kissed a boy before?â
âYeah,â Buck says, knowing Eddie knows this, but playing along anyway. âI have.â
âWhat's it like?â
Buck hums, closes his eyes. He thinks about the few guys heâd made out with but never followed home when he got to Los Angeles. Thinks about the room heâd crashed in with Connor in Peru, with itâs one mattress and both their clothes living in suitcases because they were too broke to buy any other furniture. Heâs still got a t-shirt for a school he never went to, a few sizes too small. The way they hadnât shared a room once they were in LA, the girls Connor started seeing. He thinks about John from the ranch who left town the next day. He thinks about high school, Len McGuinty under the bleachers in the summer before senior year, both of them giggling and half terrified and the way theyâd pretended to barely know each other when school started back up. Hard jawlines and stubble and muscles and height. Having something, for however long you get to have it. Wanting something, very badly. He opens his eyes and itâs almost a surprise that heâs still in the loft. That heâs not at Eddieâs house. All the time in the world there wouldnât be enough. âItâs good, Eddie. It feels good.â
âBuck,â Eddie breathes, shivery.
âI want to live in your home all the time, and never have to go anywhere,â Buck says, repeats. âIâll kiss you, if you want.â
âBuck-â
âIâll love you, if you want.â Eddie is still drunk, Buck tries to remind himself. But it might actually kill him not to say it out loud when Eddie had said he feels like this all the time. How could he not say he feels like this all the time, too? âIâll love you back. I love you back. Iâll eat all the spinach quiches for you.â
âBuck,â Eddie says, and Buck doesnât know what expression is on his face, doesnât know what look is tied to this tone of voice. Is desperate to find out. Quiet down the line for a few moments. And then: âItâs late.â
Buck pulls his phone away from his ear for a second to check the time. Nearly midnight. âYeah.â His hands feel clammy. It was too much. They should have waited to talk. Eddie wants out now, and thatâs fine. Buck will âsomehow, skin of his teeth â find a way to be fine with that.
But: âI want to go home,â Eddie says. âBuck. Come and take me home.â
âAnd then-â
âAnd then stay.â
âOkay,â Buck gets to his feet, tosses the half eaten bar in the trash. Eddieâs house has food. His home has things to eat.
âOkay,â Eddie says, confident now, everything decided, everything for sure. âIâll see you soon.
âMinutes,â Buck says, grabbing his keys, half running to the door. âIâll be there in minutes.â
âMinutes,â Eddie says back. And Buck can hear his smile.

Fun Fen Fact! Some back surgeries require surgeons to go through the abdomen, and although newer research is showing the complications of doing so, I don't think feywild witchlight doctors really care about that! :) In my own personal headcanon (hehehe) I say that Torbek has quite a large scar on his back and a thin long scar on his abdomen where the tubing of the witchlight was pulled through and grafted to his body tissue and possibly organs. Each of the scars that has a witchlight tube connected to it constantly seems infected and angry. Both because Torbek messes with his tubes a lot and because his body is still aggravated by the witchlight. The only scar that has healed somewhat cleanly is the scar on his front, which will probably eventually grow fur again in time once Torbek stops picking at the scabs (so me fr). The notch in his ear is from him ripping out the tag that was once in it. His right paw is more or less permanently disfigured and discolored, being the dominant hand that he would use for combat and therefore being the most witchlight-manipulated. The visible veins of witchlight on his right claws glow and pulse, sometimes entirely seeming to disappear. I really really really wish I knew how his canisters work I want to know their mechanical secrets so BADLY!!! I'm only up to ep 34 im dying to learn the secrets of the Torbek I also find it extremely amusing that I did the lineart for the warning but not the lineart for the actual piece that the warning is for LMAO

i dont remember anyones names so this is gonna sound partly unhinged. okay so the edward norton playwright and jason schwartzman actor (not character, in the black and white parts) are lovers right. tbh i thought this was kind of a gag and forgot about it. but later we find out that the playwright died 6 months into the production. i didnt make the connection that THATâs why the actor-jason has to suddenly leave the stage and freaks out backstage about how heâs not sure heâs Doing it right. hes not talking about acting!! because he himself is literally grieving his lover while heâs playing a character whoâs grieving his wife written by his lover so obviously itâs too much!!! actor-jason is trying to find meaning in his death through his writing but there isnt any meaning in death [gerris drinkwater voice] which is what the play is trying to say anyway. he doesnt think heâs performing grief right even in his own life!!! (and tbh itâs the 50s so he wouldnt be able to perform grief publicly anyway!!!!) the play starts with a car accident⌠anyone would search for some hidden meaning there, some signâŚ. so when he talks to margot robbie outside itâs not really about finding the CHARACTERâs motivations itâs about the actor himself being able to process the playwrightâs death! and adrien brody director was probably also dealing with that too (him and norton seemed to be good buddies) so the whole âsleeping backstageâ thing gets a bit sadder maybe? maybe everyone else got this in the theatre and im just stupid lol but crazy making stuff to me!!! the whole story is about sublimated gay grief that cannot be expressed?!?!
the tweet that caught me onto this was here which posits that the playwrightâs death was a suicide but i think thatâs pretty stupid and unnecessary because the whole thing about the play asteroid city is that death is random and meaningless. im pretty sure thatâs what the alien representsâ a shocking and absurd event that isnt outright evil or menacing, not something anyone can predict or make sense of, itâs just a thing that happens to you out of nowhere, it doesnt mean anything. heâs a little black figure, heâs death! giving and taking! aagh

analysing queercoding in sethos's haikaveh voice-line
(This analysis is from my Haikaveh queercoding essay found here!)
In Cynoâs Story Quest II Alhaitham and Kavehâs progression goes unspoken by the Traveller and Paimon in comparison to previous events and quests where their relationship is questioned (which you can read here!)
This lack of mention of the visible progression of their relationship points to a secrecy that the player is not privy to, and this development is only mentioned when Cyno highlights the unlikeliness of Kaveh and Alhaitham studying together in the House of Daena
Kaveh and Alhaithamâs relationship has tangibly improved, in their dialogue with each other, their listening and comprehension of each other, and their active reliance on each other, however, a status of their relationship has still yet to be given.
With the lack of questioning from the surrounding cast, this appears to be a continual deliberate method of avoiding labelling Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship status (further discussed here). This aligns with the previous method of queercoding Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship in avoiding labels of friends, and here, it can be seen that labels such as âroommatesâ are also avoided. This omission continues to be deliberate, and it is even more poignant due to the progression of their relationship, alongside the secrecy of what it entails and how it came about.
Sethosâ voice-line about the two highlights this to an extreme. As discussed, his voice-line is entitled âAbout Alhaitham and Kavehâ, and is the only voice-line in the game to pair together two characters when a character gives an opinion of another.
In this, Alhaitham and Kaveh are inextricably linked together - not only in being delegated a joint voice-line, but also due to Sethosâ opinion of them.
This separates them from the crowd due to an intimacy shared between the two of them. Sethos states that Kaveh is always speaking, to Alhaitham, in a low voice, as if to not let others overhear. This directly indicates a secrecy between Alhaitham and Kaveh which is not to be breached by the crowd, Sethos, and the player included, as Sethos fails to overhear anything to relate back to the player.
Sethos finishes by claiming that when Alhaitham and Kaveh are âtogetherâ, they become a different force entirely as if they were alone, as seeing them together means âyou just canât look away.â
Sethosâs voice-over creates an allusion to a secret existing between Alhaitham and Kaveh, and this secret conveys very much the essence of queercoding itself??
The two discuss something which cannot be known to the player, or someone attempting to breach the line between the public display of their relationship and that of their private relationship. This private relationship occurs outside of the playerâs knowledge and pertains to the development of their relationship, along with what the two now consider the other.
The ambiguity of their relationship here only continues to point to the twoâs connectedness, in that they are coupled together by an outsider. Itâs interesting that rather than the personal pronoun âIâ, Sethos uses the collective pronoun âyouâ when referring to Alhaitham and Kaveh as a pair.
This directly addresses the player, and draws attention to the uniqueness of their relationship. Yet again, this is the same method used to purposefully cause the player to question Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship â and, just as other instances, there is no clarification.
This secret that is generated between Alhaitham and Kaveh directly equates to the idea of queercoding, as no definitive answer is given as to what exactly the secret, or intimacy, is â and this aligns with the gameâs inability to confirm queer characters or relationships.
Alhaitham and Kaveh having reconciled is considered of prominent importance. This is seen in their balanced viewpoints having the power to bring about good for others, but here, it is specifically highlighted that Alhaitham and Kaveh are âotherâ. They are separate from the crowd, regardless of being surrounded, and they are perpetually in their own private sphere, despite attempting to be intruded upon by an eavesdropper.
Together, they become a unit that stands out, and yet this is contrasted by the intimacy of their togetherness. It is unknown what the two discuss, only that it is private between the two of them alone. This intimate covertness, this secrecy, in the presentation of Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship demonstrates the usage of queercoding.
As established here, this aligns with the queer taboo, in that closeted queer people live a life secret to the heteronormative public, and thus become âotherâ in this secret part of themselves. The secrecy of Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship can correlate with the real-world negation from heteronormative bonds, found in queer relationships not accepted by the society around them.
This is seen in how the true nature of their relationship is avoided within the game, and, yet, is highlighted by several characters for the player to question. This lack of answer, as established, leaves the interpretation to the player. It appears deliberate that Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship status is constantly called into question in previous quests and events, but their relationship, when improved, goes unmentioned by the very characters that once questioned it, such as Paimon.
Yet again, Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship is styled to deliberately avoid labels, and yet, their closeness is deliberately highlighted. Along with this, the secrecy of their private life is poignant, seen in both Sethosâ voice-line and in the ambiguity of their relationship in Cynoâs Story Quest II.
With this method, the game purposefully allows for questions which ask as to the specific nature of Alhaitham and Kavehâs relationship â just as it deliberately avoids giving a specific answer. Highlighting the twoâs closeness, and the ambiguity of this, is an active method of queercoding.
