IVE vs Dreamcatcher
(IVE x Dreamcatcher- 2.4k Words) Tags: Freaky Lesbian Sex, Homoeroticism, Lots of fluff, Just a fun little piece to establish IVE's personalities, Oh yeah, Fingering, Strapons, Cunnilingus (what a fun word), Lesbian domination, Magical girls vs witches, lets be honest here we all know who's winning, verbal humiliation, moral degeneration, also there's a cool robot-lizard thing.
"In the name of justice, we will punish you!" Yujin's voice rings down from on high, where she poses fashionably with the rest of IVE, as they all glare down at the villains below with righteous fury. Yujin bubbles internally with excitement, this was just like how magical girl stories always went, the pretty, clever, heroines taking on the evil, devious, hot, evildoers! Of course, Leeseo was busy fighting some awesome lizard-robot thing half a city away, but she was certain that IVE could take on Dreamcatcher even outnumbered. With haughty Wonyoung, tenacious Rei, zealous Gaeul, just Liz, and of course, herself, the angelic Yujin, they would have no trouble fighting those nefarious witches; it would be a hard battle for sure, but that just made it all the more magnificent! Putting on her best face, Yujin examines the cretins cowering in the rubble below, just look at them, their faces flush with fear, already trembling in terror in anticipation of their sanction, just look at that girl on the side- Her internal monologue screeches to halt as she focus in on the witch, er, Dami? Before awkwardly calling down to the assembled cultists, "Um, is she doing okay?" Their leader, Jiu, raises her eyebrows before glancing over at Dami, who appears to be hyperventilating and staring a hole through Wonyoung. She smiles kindly and calls back, "Oh, you mean Dami, please do not worry dear," Jiu reassures Yujin, "she just gets overly excited around beautiful women!" Wonyoung perks up slightly at this praise, as usual, and Yujin frowns as she processes this. Well, there often was a weird obsessive villain on the enemy team, who would go all crazy while fighting, so that makes sense! Her confidence restored, Yujin resumes her noble dialogue, "Anyways, we will defeat you, and stop your wicked attacks upon this city!"
As Yujin continues her meandering rant, the dark ladies of Dreamcatcher merely smile, and lick their lips in anticipation, everyone loves magical girls...
Yujin's harangue, (which had gone on for several minutes now) is only stopped when Gaeul soundly cries out in alarm and points downwards, "Look! They have brought their disgusting allies as well!" Yujin squints down at the mess of concrete and spots the ominously familiar slimy shape of a tentacle monster, groveling next to its mistress, that depraved summoner Gahyeon. She draws in a breathe to continue, "I see you have some foul minions with you-" "WAIT," squeaks Gaeul, "what is she doing!" Yujin takes a second look, and realizes that one of the beast's appendages was boldly pulsating between Gahyeon's legs, having disappeared up her skirt; and her stomach certainly had a strange bulge in it... Gaeul is practically frothing at the mouth, "Are you fornicating with that, that THING? That is disgusting! Depraved! You sick freak!" Gahyeon meanwhile simply smirks in response, moaning teasingly up at the prudish girl, which only drives Gaeul's fury only higher. Yujin tones out her fellow IVE member's ravings as her brain attempts to justify what she is seeing. While it certainly was a bit lewd, maybe Gahyeon was symbiotically bound to her monster in some way? Perhaps it connected to her tailbone like a tail or something? Yeah that must be it! It's a bit odd, but hey, they were cool and mature magical girls, of course their foes would take things up a notch! While Rei soothes the the raging Gaeul, Yujin begins bantering once more,
"It doesn't matter what perversities you bring against us, IVE will still be victorious no matter what, on our pride as magical girls!" "I'm going to enjoy making you my magical girl," Siyeon calls up huskily. Yujin feels herself blush slightly, but she steels herself, dealing with an older, sexy, seductive lady's empty flirting was simply part of the job, surely Siyeon was just trying to throw her off before launching a sudden attack! Her eyes sweep over the devious witches, watching for any sign of aggression, but instead she sees... "I'm sorry, but is she masturbating?" Everyone pauses to glance over at Handong, who surreptitiously withdraws her hand from beneath her skirt; cheerfully ignoring the wet sheen coating her fingers. IVE stare down at her with varying degrees of disgust, before Wonyoung steps forward to ask what they had all been thinking, "You do realize we're here to fight right, not have... freaky lesbian sex or something?" Dreamcatcher glance at one another, until Yoohyeon lets out an embarrassed laugh, "Wait, we aren't?" causing all seven of the girls to break out in giggles and snorts of barely restrained mirth. IVE roll their eyes and shift nervously, "We are going to punish you gross perverts," Liz calls down angrily, "you will be begging us for mercy!" Which only made the older girls howl all the louder, and Sua begins to salaciously wiggle her ass while spanking herself, "Oh yes! Harder, dear! Harder!" Liz flushes with what Yujin can only hope is anger, as the rational part of her brain, the one she uses during her day job as an idol, belatedly notices that far from looking humbled, Sua looks downright predatory. Oh she is going to break, she thinks, before her blabbering mind takes control once more and resumes its fantasy of being a heroic magical girl.
Yujin stands straighter, and rallies her girls by reminding them what was at stake, pretending not to notice Rei muttering, "Our chastity?", and preparing them for battle. IVE ready themselves with varying levels of enthusiasm, and in response Dreamcatcher lazily prepare themselves as well. With a triumphal cry, Yujin leaps from the building, leading IVE into the fray, bringing light and righteous wrath against their foes; Dreamcatcher respond with darkness, and peals of mocking laughter.
When Yujin blearily comes to, it takes many moments for her mind to form a cohesive picture of what happened. Belatedly, she notices that she is clad only in scraps of clothing, and comes to the conclusion that she had fallen in valiant combat against overwhelming odds; the vast quantities of energy had obviously torn off her clothes, she had read about it many times. The other part of brain screams and beats at its confinement, but Yujin blithely ignores the truth hidden in that box- Siyeon's fingers curled knuckle-deep in her sopping cunt as she plays her pussy like a piano- No no no, Yujin had been defeated in mutual combat, that is what happened! Shaking her head, she glances around at the ruins around her, and spots no sign of those degenerate villains, evidently IVE had managed to obliterate their foul foes and drive them to flight! Thusly reassured, Yujin sets off to find the rest of her girls, worried about their health.
Yujin first encounters Wonyoung, curled up in the fetal position, her fully nude body covered in marks and bruises from head to toe. Yujin shakes her head, that energy blast sure must have been powerful to strip Wony as well! Crouching down, she tentatively shakes her friend, who lets out a pitiful whine, "I'm a pretty girl," she informs Yujin dreamily, her expression one of utter relaxation. Well that's not good, Yujin thinks to herself, the poor girl had evidently been hit with some sort of stupefying blast had rendered her- feebleminded, Wonyoung moans with ecstasy as Dami and Yoohyeon worship every inch over her body with their lips. Sucking and kissing her quivering flesh until she had broken under their attentions and begged for more, so that when Dami's strap-on entered her she thanked her for it with rapturous tears- No, no. Wonyoung had not been reduced to a squealing slut focused only upon her own sordid pleasures, she had been overcome by foul sorcery. Yes, that's it!
Now with more than a touch of desperation, Yujin tracks down her next member, and finds Rei prostrate with her asshole gaping widely; still gushing a stinking pale liquid into the puddle surrounding her rear. At this her delusional fantasy becomes unsustainable, and her mind reverts to it's more ordinary state, and she finds herself entirely unworried by the sight before her. Rei groans in torment and clutches at her butt, prolapsed and leaking what almost certainly is tentacle monster's semen; which for her, was relatively normal. When she notices her leader squatting next to her, the idol moans piteously, "I think they broke my ass, Yujin." Yujin rolls her eyes, "Oh when is it not broken, Rei?" remembering -the sight of Gahyeon with half her arm up Rei's butt, fisting her furiously until allowing her pet to have its way with the girl while she forced Rei to eat out her cunt and suckle upon her leaking nipples. Rei had wailed and blubbered, but her guts had been violated all the same, even as she climaxed repeatedly like the ass-whore that she was- "Well at least they left your pussy alone," Rei merely grumbles in acknowledgement, before shooing away her leader a hand. "When you're doing better, go check on Wony, I think she's broken," Rei snorts, "Not as much as my asshole!" Yujin has nothing to say to that, so she moves on.
Next up is Liz, perched forlornly on a rock, where Yujin tentatively joins, giving her nude body a cursory examination that offers up few clues. She hesitantly touches her shoulder, "You um, are you good?" Liz gives her a frank look, "Are you?" Yujin snorts in surprise, "Obviously, my guts aren't clogged with cum and I'm not braindead, so I think I'm doing pretty well." Liz looks unconvinced, but nods slowly, "Sure. I'll go check in on the other two then, it sounds like they're a mess," she stands up, before giving Yujin an oddly pitying glance, "You... did good too, okay?" Yujin frowns, "What is that supposed to mean?" Oh but she does know -Siyeon's hands clamped tight around her plump butt as her tongue shoves its way down her throat- Yujin forces it down, "Um, you did a great job punishing her there, really showed some Sadism!" Liz lets out a bleak laugh, "If you count cleaning her ass out with my tongue sure, she did let me try though," she becomes thoughtful, "I did learn a lot, even if she did take over at the end." Which was a bit of a lie when -Sua moans lewdly as Liz plows her from behind with her strap-on, viciously spanking the slut in retribution for the evils she had wrought; but also because it aroused her. At least until Sua grows bored of her lackluster domination (after around ten minutes), and shows her how it's really done, starting with a thorough cleaning of her rear- Yujin simply nods reassuringly, before continuing; at least Liz had done decently well.
Gaeul however, is busy bawling her eyes out, as starkly naked as the rest of them, sitting in a shallow pool of foul-smelling liquids; well to most people at least, to an idol it was beyond normal. Yujin splashes through the puddle of spilt sexual fluids and squats down next to the poor uptight girl before giving her a hug. Gaeul furiously pushes her away however, snarling at her leader, "Don't touch me! I'm... dirty. Those. Those. Those perverts violated me!" Oh they had done more than that -Gaeul wails in distress is she is double penetrated, though that does not stop her from squirting all over Jiu and Handong as they fuck her. Jiu sweetly does her best to comfort the girl, even as Handong depravedly plows her ass with abandon; until the pure and innocent idol had been broken. Gaeul had shamelessly begged for it in the end, demanding that she be defiled, being so needy that Yoohyeon had to come over and fill her mouth as well to shut her up- Yujin makes soothing noises, "You resisted them mightily Gaeul, you did all you could!" Gaeul gives her a baleful look, "Which is more than you ever did." Taken aback, Yujin shakes her head, "What?" "Seriously?" Gaeul points emphatically at Yujin's thighs. Yujin glances down, and discovers that somebody had written their number on her left thigh, while the right bore the message, "Call Me -Siyeon" Her face flushes, ohnononononONONO -Siyeon growls huskily as she makes out with Yujin, groping her perky ass with relish until she is satisfied. Yujin had barely put up any resistance once Siyeon's tongue had been shoved down her throat, her natural libido overcoming her paltry delusions of heroism. She had gorged upon SIyeon's cunt for what felt like hours, swallowing an endless tide of fluids until they ran down her neck. Then she had begged for it. The first to break, Yujin had loudly implored Siyeon, even as the rest of IVE watched appalled, still locked in their own battles, their leader had degenerated into a lewd slut. And oh, how Siyeon had punished her for it, properly, making her denigrate herself even further, making her noisily proclaim what a valiant magical girl she was even as she rode her villainous foe's strap-on. Yujin was a very good magical girl, Siyeon had told her that while she was busy painting her wrists with her sloppy cunt juices, her eyes rolling back as she climaxed continuously-
Yujin moans in mortification as the shamelessness of her fall truly hit her, after all of her outward strength she had given in so easily? What happened to her grand morals and ideals? Gaeul allows some sympathy to shine through, "It's okay Yujin, we all knew you were a slut, you just need to be more honest with yourself," they sit in silence for several minutes before she hesitantly continues, "Though to be honest, I think they did hit you with some sort of... arousal spell? Like you were out of your clothes before we even really started fighting them. Normal fighting I mean, not freaky lesbian sex." Gaeul coughs in embarrassment, but luckily for the both of their fragile egos their phones ping loudly, "Oh, looks like Leeseo finally blew up that alligator cyborg, at least she had fun." Yujin groans, "I want to blow up lizard robots too! Why can't we just do normal magical girl things?" Gaeul sighs and stiffly pats her leader's back, "Maybe we should stick to fighting monsters and not... perverted witches?" Yujin perks up a little at this, "That sounds like a good idea," she winces, "It is going to make seeing them at that awards show next week really awkward though, there is no way were are doing this shit in public." Gaeul gives her a speculative look, "What about in private?"
Yujin smiles, oh she loves her IVE, "Well then we can play at magical girls and witches again, and this time, justice will triumph!"

best sf/f/horror I read in 2024
hello esteemed colleagues. here’s stuff I read in 2024 that I liked, in no particular order outside of the ranking tiers. find previous years of this reclist here
top 5
the bright sword by lev grossman: “lev grossman wrote a shockingly melancholy, hopeful, and expansive novel that hurts a little to read, about a young man who dreams of the age of heroes but finds that that age is over” and other unsurprising statements. this one is a take on Arthurian legend that happens after Arthur is dead, and is really interesting to me for how it portrays England as abandoned once by Rome’s great architects and then once more by the magic of Arthur’s court. with the age of legends twice dead, can anyone bring it back for real or can they only try to make it RETVRN?
the traitor baru cormorant + sequels by seth dickinson: there was a version of this post, before I went back and checked my list of what I read this year, where the top 5 was only Seth Dickinson books. these books are about how far you’ll descend into evil (ie how many war crimes you’ll commit as an imperial operative) to save your colonized home. they’re all good but the first one goes CRAZY. the author was a police bias researcher and it shows. portrays lesbian desire really really well. “hard fantasy” isn’t REALLY a thing but it’s this, they’re barely fantasy and more political drama
exordia by seth dickinson also: what if a reality-warping anomaly was hotly pursued by the US military while they were hotly pursued by aliens with planet-killing power? what if you got your whole village killed as a child and now you’re in a romcom with an alien? the Acknowledgements say, nearly word for word, “i wrote this between Barus for fun because those really take it out of me. anyway I’d like to thank the researchers who helped me with astrophysics, nuclear weapon functions, Kurdish feminism and history, and translation into five languages.” read if you like meticulously researched thrillers, Annihilation, and Challengers situations.
everything for everyone by eman adelhadi and m. e. o’brien: told with a framing device whereby the authors mention their own experiences with activism and revolution after the 2020s and compile an oral history of the future anarchist New York Commune, each chapter of this book is an interview with someone about a different aspect of how they contributed to revolution and setting up a new society. my gripe with this book is that I wish it talked more about problems that will still (or newly) exist in utopia, but I still loved it.
we have always lived in the castle by shirley jackson: I finished this book and immediately went to that blog that was running the literary incest tournament earlier this year because I was certain that Merricat and Constance had placed and lo and behold they had. those gothic themes are gothic themeing. read if you want jackson’s theme of small-town distrust and paranoia and isolation taken to the extreme
honorable mentions
the raven tower by ann leckie: what I love about ann leckie is her ability to write non-human protagonists without sci-fi jargon and with totally alien concerns and viewpoints that you can nonetheless buy into. this protagonist is a rock living on a hill that is a local god. read if you like folktales, loners, and twist endings.
the sapling cage by margaret killjoy: even though this is middle grade, all you had to say to me was “Margaret From Podcasts does transfem anarchist Song of the Lioness” and I was in. in a medieval fantasy world without a concept of transness, a trans girl swaps places with her friend so her friend can become a knight and she can become a witch and discover who is leaching the life from the forests for their own gain. the witch politics/interpersonal drama is done with the eye of someone who’s lived in communes most of her life and the way it straddles lingering love of knight tales and distrust of armed people with the legal right to kill you is refreshing
do you dream of terra two by temi oh: the most elite graduates of a cutthroat boarding school are selected for a mission to explore a potentially habitable planet in this character-driven meditation on what it takes to believe in something you can’t see and may have to give up your whole life for
monstrilio: a piece of flesh from a woman’s dead son grows into a person of its own, initially shaped like a monster but molded by his parents into a more-or-less normal-looking young man with a taste for human flesh. cringe moment but this is what Jack Supernatural could have been. to me. litfic with themes of monstrousness/normality, grief, and the various meanings of consuming flesh.
long live evil by sarah rees brennan: listen I know how it sounds but I’m putting this book so high up this list because I had a blast. a teenage cancer patient gets isekai’d into a book series that her sister loves but that she only half remembers, and has to use her vague memory of the plot to avoid execution long enough to obtain a magic item that’ll cure her in the real world. it has something to say about how it feels to live in a body that’s healthy after being desperately sick but it’s also just catnip for your inner teen fangirl daydreaming about getting your first kiss from a tortured prince
the terraformers by annalee newitz: in three different stories of people at different times in the planet’s political development, the story of a privately-owned planet terraformed to be habitable is told. this is for you if you like future politics about privatization and the rights of non-human persons a la Murderbot
silver under nightfall by rin chupeco: this book was selected for me by my friend and favorite bookseller @literally-irreverent because i like romance IN things but I don’t usually like when romance is the whole plot. anyway this is about solving a dangerous strain of vampirism while having a vampire/vampire/vampire-hunter romance that is. mwah. chef’s kiss. read if you like politically disastrous polyamory and The Witcher
the adventures of amina al-sirafi by s. a. chakraborty: i read the daevabad trilogy and I liked it but didn’t love it, but I liked this book a lot. mostly I think it’s really fun to have a seagoing adventurer who’s a mom, and it was done with a lot of care for her perspective.
runners up
to shape a dragon’s breath by monquill blackgoose: in an alternate history New England, an indigenous teenager finds a dragon egg and must become the first non-European to attend a school for dragon riders near her island. YA with prose that skews young and easy to read but with a good story. themes of colonialism and resistance.
things have gotten worse since we last spoke by eric larocca: I don’t love larocca’s prose but I felt like this book succeeded because it’s written in internet dialogue + therefore hid larocca’s tendency to get purple prose with it. horror about the quick rabbithole that is getting socialized/groomed mostly online.
the lion will slaughter the lamb & the barrow will send what it may by margaret killjoy: novellas where a group of wandering punk-house dwellers find out what’s raising supernatural horrors and how to stop them from killing again
running close to the wind by alex rowland: this felt like an attempt to bottle the Our Flag-type chaos and comedy pirate romance vibes without feeling like straight-up fanfiction. a pathetic meow meow of an ex-intelligence agent tries to sell state secrets without getting caught aboard his ex’s ship, while the two of them bet on who can break a hot monk’s vow of chastity first
the gone world by tom sweterlitch: this felt like christopher nolan writing a detective novel, as government agents travel to parallel realities to solve a murder
autonomous by annalee newitz: in a future society, this follows a scientist on the run from the governments and pharma companies that are out to get her for her work to make patented medications available on the black market, as she tries to fix a mistake she made in making an addictive treatment available to the public. this book is broadly about intellectual property and about the concept of property at all
the deep sky by yume kitasei: weirdly this book is a very different take on the same concept as another book on this list, do you dream of terra-two, where graduates of an elite school are sent on a generation ship to start a new colony. the twist is that all the characters are expected to bear two children to carry on the generation ship, which leads to some wild mostly-unexplored gender dynamics. this one is much more sci-fi/mystery to Terra-Two’s character-driven drama.
the atlas six by olivie blake: well-written dark-academia thriller that is obvious booktok fodder. with the vibes of the mortal instruments (everyone is so hot and powerful and tortured!) meets the secret history, a group of young magicians is recruited to learn the secrets of the library of alexandria
Ursula, kill this clown: dishonorable mentions
I don’t have enough dishonorable mentions for their own post this year but HOLY FUCK. THE FIVE BOOKS OF ROBERT MOSES. this book is FOURTEEN hundred pages of absolute dogshit that I should have DNFed but I liked the concept so much that I wanted to find something to like in the execution. Nope! the pitch is “a dirty bomb turns NYC into a wasteland and the city is picked up and moved wholesale, with the maps of the five boroughs remaining more or less the same, into a Nevada desert refugee camp guarded by the army, and a major character is Robert Moses’ disaffected younger brother.” on a petty level, this is the New Yorkiest pitch possible for someone who absolutely doesn’t give a shit about developing the new desert New York with any interest or fidelity. on an unpetty level, this is a slop “political” “thriller” that doesn’t develop a strong political perspective and moves at a sloth pace. skip.
#yearly book roundup#reading tag#my posts#I feel like I qualified a lot of my recs here but like I just like to be a hater and I feel like it’s best to warn somebody about what migh#turn them off of a book if it’s something they personally dislike#some of this is literary and some of it is exceptionally well-executed schlock! you know. as always here on deanmarywinchester dot com#and there’s a whole gamut in between

GENDER SWAP RENLY AND STANNIS OUTFITS PLEASSSS. And maybe Robert too
SISTERLY DYSFUNCTION WE LOVEEEEE even tho the character of Robert is kinda tricky bc his character is rooted in his manhood but fuck it we ball maybe we can just make Westeros a matriarchy #Feminism
Fem Roberta (definitely named Roberta) (also the middle Katie McGrath pic is the fc) is the kinda the biggest lesbian bait ever. Non-dutiful eldest daughter set to inherit storms end but she does NAWT give a shit she wants to go play around in the Vale with fem Ned and drink and whore etc etc. Rides and fights like a man and even wears men’s armor but still dresses and (sometimes) acts like a noble lady when the situation calls for it. She’s not a tomboy who chafes at nobility she’s a rowdy noble girl who LOVES her status she loves excess. Charismatic girl who managed to get men to follow her into war to get back Fem Ned’s little brother even though she loves him like a prize. And she loves the idea of being connected to Ned more than that. But other than her homoerotic obsession with her best friend and she is totally and completely heterosexual 👍🏻
Fem Stannis (Stana? Castana?) is kinda so Eva Green do we see the vision people. She’s a flop daughter who dresses like a utilitarian, very little room in her looks for comfort. Internalized misogyny for days bc she thinks if she were a son she could be so much better than her sister is. She’s kinda like if Cersei slayed a little less. When Roberta dies she can’t garner any support bc even though they were both women, her elder sister was always more persuasive and well liked, which is half the reason she became queen. So now she’s behind her bastard nephew and nieces who aren’t even related to her in the line of succession (let’s pretend masc Cersei and fem Jamie swapped the kids or smthn idk 😭). And her new red witch is not doing favors for the people who think magic = dark and womanly and evil. She’s such a flop and gay for the older pirate lady who saved her life and she can never do anything right ily girl
And Fem Renly/Rena/Renia is kinda the baddest bitch in the seven kingdoms. She’s even prettier than Roberta was at her age, and just as charismatic, and far more agreeable, acting more like a “proper” lady. Though she rides as well as her eldest sister, and even took up the sword too, wanting to be a warrior queen when she was little. Her fits always go crazy, a fourth of the treasury at storms end is set aside for her favorite green enameling and gold accessories. She’s kinda the star of court and thinks Roberta has gotten lazy and Stana has too much of a stick up her ass to be a good queen. Ofc in true Baratheon fashion she has a gay who worships her like a god, her trusted lady-knight Lora Tyrell, who gives her the support of her house before she unfortunately gets merked. Rip queen I wish you could’ve been mean on the internet
#asoiaf#lesbian Baratheons my beloved#Stannis was already a lesbian without gender bending him but that’s neither here nor there

Why is it that when you watch the Castlevania shows on Netflix, the female villains are just "super hot and crazy" and die like as soon as their true power is revealed? It makes me worried for Erszebet Bathory. Because if they make her just another shallow villain and then make an amazing, in depth villain that's a guy, I'm gonna be mega pissed. It's so wrong how they just make the women really cool and badass, then in the next scene they're killed (most often by a dude)
Like can we not? Seriously. Carmilla, Lenore, and Drolta Tzuentes all deserved better from the writers. Way better.
Anyways I wanna write a story about Drolta Tzuentes and Erszebet Bathory being lesbian lovers. I mean seriously they give me Alcina Dimitrescu vibes (another badass woman who was butchered too early for no reason other than to strengthen a man)
Now, let me get something out of the way here. I don't hate the male characters. No. I love all of them. I am just very disappointed and upset that the women don't get the same treatment. I mean come on! We need some good, strong, villainous women in more media. I'm honestly shocked at how frequently women are needlessly cast aside even when they aren't villains, just to make the guys seem better.
Here. I will compose a brief list of women villains who I think deserved much better.
Vanny, FNAF Security Breach
Alcina Dimitrescu, Resident Evil Village
Donna Beneviento, Resident Evil Village
Carmilla of Styra, Castlevania
Lenore, Castlevania
Drolta Tzuentes, Castlevania Nocturne
Empress Merwyn from The Witcher: Blood Origin
Just a few that I could think of off the top of my head. We need more badass women who are evil and don't die just to better a man. I mean seriously.
Anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk.
and do NOT get me started on Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch!

Do you have any thoughts on good/bad/worthwhile Cassandra Cain storylines? Her introduction/origin years ago was uhh not good (i.e., mega-racist even by Batbook standards), but I figure a bazillion lesbians can't be wholly wrong (except about TSwift and maybe The L Word).
here is the thing, if you wanna read about a character of color in comics you gotta accept it will be a little to very racist. I'm pretty sure being racist is just a requirement to be a comics writer, like they make you take a racial bias test and only hire people with highest scores. and hilariously I can't guess which introduction you mean because I realise that her og-og origin also falls under some racist stereotypes but new52 was just a full on massacre jsnsjsj
I need to caveat that the storylines in her solo will have art so racist it will make your eyes water sometimes, that's why it's so hard ro recommend it sjsjsjks but I genuinely think the first few arcs from it are great, even though it's funny as fuck that they realised cass not speaking at all was either a lil racist or not very good for carrying a solo and they magicked her the ability to speak but it DID lead to the shiva arc and that was fucking crazy amd i haven't seen a batfam mf go this hard since then. on the flipside some of the later arcs and the annuals are.... oh girl. apart from racism even, they are just choppy and messy and nothing was ever gonna go anywhere because dc hated my girl and wanted her gone so she's not allowed to have any meaningful storylines connected to batfam or yk. anything really
and its only worse from here, like the whole evil cass arc after that leading to batgirl redemption is straight up infamous because of how stupid it is. it's pointless and it brings nothing and was never gonna be resolved because every man at dc secretly imagines their wife is deathstroke when they fuck so it's not like cass will actually get her dues at the end of all that. it was literally her death and the maidens and that shit sucked even less somehow
and that was the good era <3 n52 outsiders was okay, not very preboot cass accurate and shiva wasn't that in character necessarily but its not physically painful to read. but her introduction was fucking batman and robin eternal and I think whoever thought of this panel in particular
needs to be in fucking prison for the irreperable damage this did to fanon. and also whoever came up with tim saying because she can't talk she must have the mind of a chuld - oh if I got my hands on tynion for this. oh bitch
rebirth doesn't even deserve a mention because it was just boring. now we have batgirls as her main comic and I hate that fucking thing with my entire heart like I would pay a turkish witch to curse everybody involved in making this. the way they said they wrote them to be about 14 I'm gonna have a fucking heart attack just remembering it. from newer stuff the only things I would say are worth attention is her story in the asian heritage month special - not crazy good but its okay - and spirit world but it's not that focused on her. still a fun read tho
also, preboot, there are some REALLY good one off issues with her that you would never think to read because they are buried in other runs. my faves are gotham knights #2, dc presents batgirl vs joker, gotham secret files and origins, and batgirl secret files
tldr: if you want to stan cass you have to accept you will suffer. there's no joy to be found here, even in the good arcs. thankfully, I'm delusional and love pain so the potential they never made her live up to is enough to drive me crazy for eternity and one day I will suck off a dc editor so good they will let me write a cass solo with full creative control and jh williams on art and I will have my revenge. and they will all be sorry

Reading This Week 2024 #40
Yesterday I had a twelve-hours-active day going to a ren faire with some friends! Totally worth it but i am crazy exhausted today. Let's talk about what I've read this week
Finished:
Frieren, Beyond Journey’s End, Vol. 2 written by Kanehito Yamada, art by Tsukasa Abe, translated by Miss 'Japanese Ammo' i think Frieren hit its stride in this volume for me with the introduction of the third member of the party. i love Frieren's very deadpan and nonchalant attitude regarding obstacles they run into. She's not in any rush!
Witches, Princesses, and Women at Arms: Erotic Lesbian Fairy Tales edited by Sacchi Green this is a collection of short stories that i picked up from the library. most were pretty okay but not exactly to my taste, which is the risk with any sort of anthology. a lot of women disguising as men. i think my favorite is the evil stepmother getting together with the fairy godmother bc the voice for it was so distinctly silly
Bloom Into You, Vol. 6-8 by Nakatani Nio, translated by Jenny McKeon this was an absolutely lovely lesbian romance series. it felt very real, and the conclusion to it made my heart ache in the very best way. I think really captures messy teenage feels where you don't really know what love is yet but you're trying really hard to figure it out
Magic's Pawn by Mercedes Lackey, audiobook narrated by Gregory St. John read to keep up with Shelved by Genre! wow I loved this book. Something can definitely be said for it's tunnel vision on the only gay men who exist being pretty effete twinks, but i was very impressed by the number of gay wizards in get in this book from 1989. I'll definitely have to check out Lackey's other work when I finish this series
Blue Box, Vol. 2 by Kouji Miura, translated by Christine Dashiell the art in this manga is off the charts lovely to look at. i love the gentle mix of sporting ambition and high school awkward romance. reading so many high school romance manga is making me wonder why i like so many manga with that set up, but am so so averse to American YA romance, and have liked basically none that i've read
Started/Ongoing:
Fool's Quest by Robin Hobb, audiobook narrated by Elliot Hill once again @mosswolf reading a series I like that motivated me to go pick up where I left off. this time with Realm of the Elderlings, i dropped off in the last of the trilogies (currently) published. reread some of the chapters from where I stopped, and now I'm ready to get into parts i haven't read yet
Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie, audiobook narrated by Adjoa Andoh made an individual post last night about what i think the central power fantasy is of this series! love it. i was listening to it during the long drive to the ren faire yesterday, and when i said it was the third book my gf said 'that explains why none of it makes sense to me'
Reading Plans:
She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan: after my book club posting this past week, @eclecticjace and @ciudaddelapazmp3 put together a little group chat with me, we made a book list, and randomly pick one! so mutuals book club pick for October is what we're reading first. if you would like to join the group chat dm me your discord info, or feel free to informally read along with us!

Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Season 2 Episode 8 Review
- This’ll take a while and have a lot of feeling and my own experiences, so please do keep in mine. Content warning for suicidal thoughts.
- Let’s start from the happier moments shall we?
- Secelia and Rouji have doomed the narrative. Secelia by standing and Rouji by speaking more than 3 lines. But still, they put the students lives first and act to save them. Secelia giving the new suit to Chuchu and Rouji interrogating Martin shows that they put a lot of importance on their jobs as school leaders. With the school now in shambles, I hope they move on to supporting the resistance against both the Space League and Prospera
- Kenanji is once again a pretty interesting character. He’s clearly suffering from some type of PTSD with Gundams as he was holding onto his arm to stop it from shaking. Also it’s cool that even though he’s moved up higher in the ranks, he’s still a talented pilot. But just when I was starting to like him again, his squad committed the ultimate crime. I will not forgive him
- Felsi and Chuchu claiming best pair of lesbians in the series, I’m sorry SuleMio fans. Felsi going out there to protect others and ultimately teaming up with Chuchu, despite their prideful and angry personalities. I expect Felsi to pilot the canons on the back of Chuchu’s new suit, the two working in tandem to save lives and kiss each other.
- Nika has finally returned to her true home, and while there’s definitely tension, right now she has to focus on saving others. Big props to Martin for standing up and be willing to hear her side. He’s really grown
- I like that Shaddiq’s harem squad weren’t OP. They’re still students, and even if they are talented, they don’t have enough experience compared to the actual professionals. A shame none of them died though. Okouchi plays cruel jokes on us
- Shaddiq is the biggest loser of all time. His pathetic white knighting for Miorine is sickening. He doesn’t see her as a person, he just sees her as an object. And the same goes for everyone else. Shaddiq has a savior complex, either something he developed or something that was drilled into him when he was young due to his talent. He has a point about how Earthian lives are more expendable, and I can sympathize, but the actions he takes are too horrible. He released Norea on purpose to get her to kill everyone. If Spacians are evil for killing innocent Earthians, then he is evil too for getting innocent Spacians killed. The end may justify the means, but that doesn’t mean what he did was good.
- Guel is the biggest gigachad of all time. Gives a cool speech shooting back at Shaddiq, disarms his suit, and then front flips outside of the exploding Darilbalde. While Shaddiq has grown complacent, Guel has seen the horrors of war up front. His father died by his hand, and an innocent child died in his arms. While Shaddiq can pass off his actions as the right thing, not harboring any guilt, Guel has taken on the pain of his sins and moves forward because of him. He knows the true pain of taking a life, which is why he leaves Shaddiq alive. He knows that if you’re dead, you can’t make up for all of the suffering you caused, that you can’t become a better person. He recognizes that Shaddiq has suffered just like him, and that it would be unfair to take his life for such a thing.
- Also the fact the fact Guel keeps performing better and better when more odds are stacked against him is crazy. Shaddiq was fully going in for the kill, with his handicap off, and Guel still beat him with just green beams. RIP Darilbalde, you saved your master.
- The fact that Sarius still refers to Shaddiq as his son, he really does love him. Best parent
- Lauda really going through it, huh? Imagine finding out your sibling killed your parent. Like, how do you even function after that? He put his brother up on such a high pedestal, but it’s all come crashing down. But will Guel be able to explain the situation, or will Lauda have his Joker moment before he can talk to him. With the phone call he received at the end, I don’t think Lauda will be sane enough to listen to anyone. Either he fights his brother or Suletta, possibly in the Schwarzette
- Petra…my sweet child. Her talking about all the things she wanted to die with Lauda reminded me of Sophie’s lamentations before her death. Her wants were so basic, but that just makes them even stronger. And you can tell Suletta realized that she wanted the same with Miorine. But sadly, while helping others, Petra gets caught up in the attack and is buried by rubble, dying. Maybe. I’ve seen some people say she might be alive and get the GUND prosthetics, which would make me extremely happy, but I’m too sad to hope. Some others have been saying she’ll be uploaded to the Schwarzette and while I find that far-fetched it would be pretty cute to have either Lauda or Suletta pilot it with her help.
- All right, this is the heavy part. Norea and El5n. Because he deserves a name, his real name preferably, but this is the best I can do right now.
- Norea, once again reminded of the fact that her and her people’s lives are played with by the upper class and that they’ll continue to hurt them, breaks and goes on a rampage. With no care to how much harm she’s causing, she acts out, because she herself is hurting. She’s carrying the burden of thousands of dead and suffering Earthians. Her howls of pain resound throughout the school as she lashes out, dying her hands red.
- But even still, despite all the pain she’s caused, El5n believes she can live a better life. He wants to believe that. Even if she carries the pain of all Earthians and the sins she commits, he wants to share that burden with her. Just as he believes he can live a happy life despite being just an experiment, he believes she can do so as well. He wants to see the world she lives in. He wants to see the girl who drew that beautiful lakefront. So he rushes out to stop her in Sophie’s Gundam, even if he might die.
- He tries to plead with her but she can’t accept it. She sees no meaning in her life if it isn’t being used to help others (save Earthians.)
- I’ll be honest, I experienced the same sense of emptiness Norea has. The feeling as if you have no future left. I remember near the end of middle school, I was given an assignment to choose what college I wanted to go to and what I wanted to major in and research it all, and like, I didn’t even think I was going to make it pass high school. I didn’t do the project because I genuinely didn’t believe I had a future. I distracted myself with anime and manga, much like how Norea focused on her drawings. It’s taken a lot of work to get where I am today thanks to having people care for me similarly to how El5n cared for Norea.
- His profession of care for her, saying he’ll stay by her side and that she wants her to show him the beauty of Earth, it all melted my heart. He spent almost his entire life locked up in a facility to be experimented on and had his very identity stolen away, but he finally found someone who feels just like him. Someone so desperately looking for a purpose after being shat on by the entire world. He reaches out to her and holds her hand, and Norea is reminded of Sophie, her best friend and only family.
- Finally, Norea puts down her weapons. Her rage isn’t gone, but the idea that someone cares for her makes her stop hurting others. But just when she can finally smile, her life is cruelly stolen away by a sniper shot. She’s shot straight through, the bracelet she and Sophie made together burning away, and El5n is left mourning.
- Just when he finally found someone who he could relate to, someone he wanted to explore the world he was sheltered from for so long, she’s gone. The one person who cared about him. Suletta only saw El4n and Belmeria only felt bad for herself. Norea was the first to see the suffering and lonely child behind the mask El5n put on and she dies.
- This is the very first moment activates his Permet by his own will, and it’s not to battle. Instead, it’s a manifestation of his grief and rage. He takes control of the GUND bits and uses them to kill the men who took Norea away, and then he leaves, because what else can he do? His entire life has been played with in order to serve some higher power. But he won’t back down after all this. Peil better sleep with one eye open, because he’s coming for all of them.
- While Guel showed great skill this episode, El5n, in my eyes, is the undisputed best pilot of the children. Able to keep up with a Permet 4 Norea in an unfamiliar suit and immediately hijacking the Gundvolvas and using them. He’s showing prowess on the same level as the Aerial, though I don’t think he’ll ever climb to her level. El5n will use these talents to carve his existence into the world. I hope he retakes his original name as he does this. No matter what you do El5n, I will support you.
- Suletta continues to move forward. Even though she doesn’t have Aerial with her, she spends hours removing rubble to save others. She couldn’t do anything during the attack, which is why she moves herself now to help others. And her persistence emboldens her friends, who jump into work just as she did. She survived, and now she has to choose what she wants to do. Does she want revenge? Does she want to help others? Or will she go see Miorine? No matter what she chooses, it will be her own choice made by her own will. No one can control her now
Where do we go from here? The Space League is moving now, ready to start a war. Prospera will be theif to fight Ochs Earth and start Quiet Zero, all just for Eri. But what will the young ones do? What can they do?
Well, that’s for next episode to show.
On this day remember to think about the millions of children who die in wars, conflict, or because of horrible circumstances. Let us work for a better tomorrow

thank you for tagging me @kiki-strike !! <33
10 characters 10 fandoms 10 (ish) tags!
1. Azula ATLA - she's a girlboss. she's a pathetic poor little meow meow. she's a manipulative mastermind. she's a socially awkward wreck. she's a child soldier whose mother left her & who's father treated her like a weapon. she's the most formidable villain the heroes have ever faced. i love her
2. Ashley Graves TCOAAL - a controversial pick MAYBE but I love to see a demon-worshipping cannibal queen winning (committing unspeakable acts but it's ok because her mom didn't love her & also she is baby have u considered that?) i think ashley should be allowed to commit all the atrocities she wants as a treat on the grounds that her parents were so awful they left her to starve to death & before that, pretended not to notice when she & her brother accidentally killed a girl in middle school
3. Natalie Scatorcio, Yellowjackets - 2 cannibal queens in a row I must have a type <3 I love a tragic hero who is also a violent, dangerous & unstable individual. forgiveness is a nice idea but my poor doomed antler queen will never live to see it... she was a gentle soul (ignore the atrocities) who never got to see a single moment of peace or gentleness in her life
4. Sam Carpenter, Scream - it was nearly impossible for me to pick between my best girls Sidney, Emma, & Sam for this list but I have to go Sam. she's the daughter of a serial killer. she enjoys stabbing people. she sees visions of her dead dad telling her to kill but she loves her friends & her sister more than anything. i adore my dangerous & violent but also oh so sweet babygirl
5. Faith Lehane Buffy the Vampire Slayer - listen, Buffy is the obvious choice for the best character in Buffy OFC. but have you considered. faith is broken & hurt & a little crazy with jealousy & obsession with buffy. she's the dark slayer. she has a dynamic with the wacky evil demonic town mayor that mirrors buffy's relationship with her wholesome (mostly. sometimes demon rebelly) librarian mentor as the dark side of the coin. she's never had anyone pick her first & it kills her but she pretends she doesn't care. i'd die for her
6. Baby Firefly - this time not a confirmed cannibal but my girl is into corpse desecration & necrophilia so I think this is a great list that proves I have excellent taste in fictional characters. "there is no wrong. if someone needs to be killed you kill 'em! that's the way :)"
7. Beth Salinger, Hostel 2 - fave final girl my bestie had a hot lesbian enemies to almost lovers to beheading you & playing soccer with the head dynamic with an evil secret society member who tried to lure her to her death. she also cut off the penis of the man who dared to fuck with her & fed it to a dog so like what more can you even want from a character <3
8. Dennis Reynolds IASIP - having dennis as my fave is soo embarrassing he's such a basic fave but genuinely he's SO fucking pathetic & sad beneath the layers of fake manipulative suave cool rich kid that he thinks he conveys (he doesn't). he's literally just a sad little girl who falls apart & curls up on he ground crying when things get overwhelming. everyone who doesn't understand him thinks he's a mastermind serial killer but they are FALLING FOR HIS ACT
9. Katherine Pierce TVD - THEY HATE TO SEE A GIRLBOSS WINNINGGGGGGG (I don't know Scarlet Witch but I think it's funny to steal the description for #9 for Katherine from the person who tagged me in this hehe) anyway it's funny for me to pick Katherine when I named my cat damon & I have a ginormous shirtless poster of ian somerhalder literally over my bed I'm looking at it right now BUT hear me out. Katherine is my real fave. unforgivable villain who always chooses herself first & also mirrors the protagonist & also she was just a girl once too, a pregnant, scared young girl. if the writers cared about me specifically at all we would've gotten a spin off of Katherine & her daughter instead of what we got
10. Annie Edison Community - much like with buffy the vampire slayer & buffy summers, there is a correct answer to which community character is objectively the best & it's obviously abed. BUT my subjective fave that I latch onto is annie. she's just so babygirl. she had a nervous breakdown in high school because she was always too perfect. she's just out of rehab for adderall when we meet her but it's mostly only referenced or flashed back to as a joke. we never meet her parents but the quotes she references from them are deeply disturbing if you turn off the laugh track & pay attention. she has a fucked up relationship with her good older male friend because #daddy issues. she is obsessed with true crime. there's a monkey named after her boobs. she's the ONLY member of the study group who could've EVER lived with troy & abed & incorporated herself into their dynamic the way she does in episodes like foosball & nocturnal vigilantism. my girl is so silly & a little crazy <3
anyway
thank u for the tag i love rambling about my fave characters!!
I tag: @missjessefantastico, @theowritesfiction @dont-leafmealone, @peony-pearl, @stalker-among-the-stars @bearsandbeansart @chasingfictions @hello-nichya-here, @lunaintheskyforever, @gathering0gloom, @jctko, @jet-apologistmybadhomies, @745voiceofthepeople, @prodogg, @matchamarshmallow
ok if you wanted to be tagged please just say I tagged you also no pressure to the people I tagged it's just for fun if u want :)
#tag games#ty <333#this is in no particular order#i just kinda thought of characters & media I like as I went hahaha

The crazy thing about Monstress as a comic is the sheer amount of shit going on in the world's setting. It's so much so that sometimes I have to Google shit to remind myself of exactly what certain terms mean.
You have humans and arcanics, which are a whole spectrum of animal people who are descendants of children that humans had with the "Ancients," which seem to be immortal animal people of immense power who are still around. Then you have racism between humans and arcanics, both races having committed heinous acts on one another. This is so bad that humans have a whole religion that hates arcanics, and then arcanics often reject and scorn other arcanics who look too human. The arcanics have two major government/guild(?) factions divided into the Dawn and Dusk Court. The immortal ancients I mentioned earlier rule the Dawn Court and no one knows shit about the Dusk court because they've taken some weird vow of silence and withdrawn from the world. What's that? The Blood Court?? Don't mention them, that's a secret faction hidden from the Dawn and Dusk Court, and it's led by the main character's dad, and he is a pretentious war criminal. Sea Court??? NEVER HEARD OF IT. Then the human government, called the "Federation," feels extremely fascistic and authoritarian-- it's also intrinsically webbed with the Cumaea, which is a religious all-women group of "Witches," who clearly influence much of the human government's rule. They preach hatred against the arcanics and encourage their murder, but this seems like a ploy to get their hands on "lilium," a magic substance that can be extracted from the corpses of arcanics. The witches can also do magic shit, which usually only some arcanics can do? I think the lilium they extract lets them do it? I don't even know, bro. Then they're practicing eugenics and experiments to breed super soldiers, while the civilization at large remains ignorant. Spies, big tiger pirates, big lesbian pirates, unicorns, MORE war criminals??? There are also implications that there have been spacefaring species of gods and this still feels small in the grand scheme of things?
And did we even mention the O L D G O D S which seem to be 4 dimensional beings whose apparitions and giant forms appear in the sky and the people can see them but they can't seem to see us?? So most people assume the old gods are, like, dead?? But the main character, Maika HALFWOLF (What in the Inuyasha??), has an old god fused to her soul or some shit??? Like, she inherited it from her evil dad?? Also her mom was, like, a famous archeologist and she's SUPER SKETCHY?? And seems to know about the old god in Maika? And Maika is also the grandaughter of one of the Ancients and inherited some mystical blood powers? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? AND MAIKA'S BEST FRIEND/EX-LOVER IS SOME POWERFUL RULER TO THE DUSK COURT AND MAIKA DOESN'T KNOW AND SHE'S SUPPOSED TO KILL MAIKA????
This shit is fucking insane.
And this is without mentioning the talking cats who practically worship the words of poets?
#Monstress#Comics#This shit is insane and I kinda love it#Nearly everyone is bisexual or a lesbian also so that's pretty cool

My personal rankings of the 90s Sailor Moon seasons. These are my personal thoughts, you don't have to agree. Respectfully, this anime is over twenty goddamn years old, so I will not be tagging spoilers. Without further ado:
1. Sailor Moon S
This season has the outer senshi in almost every episode! I find Setsuna, Haruka, Michiru, and Hotaru more compelling as individual characters than I do most of the rest of the main cast. Also, there are lesbians! Utena and Anthy were inspired by Haruka and Michiru, and it's obvious in the best way. Though I think Haruka is more similar to Utena in Adolescence of Utena than she is to Utena in the anime proper.
No filler in any sense of the word, every episode is exciting and progresses things beyond the monster of the week formula. The Witches 5 are wonderful mid-tier villains, especially Kaolinite, Eudial, and Mimete (BPD queen). Hotaru is one of my favorites and watching Chibiusa learn to be a senshi is a treat. For all these reasons, this is the season that turned me into a Moonhead (read: made me acquire a new special interest).
2. Sailor Stars
The Sailor Starlights are better characters than I expected. You can very logically read them as transgender girls. They're girls who have to live as boys for their own safety -- and they transform back into girls, their true selves, in their sailor forms. The Animamates are also entertaining as mid-tier villains. I also adore Sailor Chibi Chibi! She's not much of a character, but she's cute and sweet.
There are a few things dragging this season down, however: the disappearance of "Moonlight Densetsu," no Chibiusa, the outer senshi only appearing every few episodes, and the fact that they spend the first few episodes wrapping up last season's arc for some reason. Also, the Starlights' sailor outfits are hideous. Same with Usagi's eternal fuku, it's over designed to hell. This season also just straight up looks like ass for a significant amount of the episodes. The finale drags a bit and seeing all that death and hardship becomes monotonous. I also wasn't a fan of Uranus and Neptune voluntarily turning evil. They've always been morally gray, but in S their thing was "the (good) ends justify the (ugly, complicated, violent) means, even if we have to be separated from each other." Not "let's turn evil to stay together!" Despite that, it's still probably the best ending to any Sailor Moon season. It was also so exciting to hear "Moonlight Densetsu" at the end of the last episode! I found it to be a virtually perfect ending for the show, despite my earlier criticisms.
3. Sailor Moon
It's classic. It's simple. It's cute. It's fun! I so adore the introduction episodes for the inner senshi -- and their deaths in the finale are fitting yet sad. The season is very neatly written, not really any loose ends (unless you count the one true filler episode). It's very self-contained, even more so than the other seasons. Naoko intended for this to be all there was to Sailor Moon, and it shows in both good and bad ways. Unfortunately, this season just feels underwhelming compared to S and Stars. There's also one of the two true filler episodes in this season, which brings it down a bit. Also, the Naru-Nephrite romance is just plain uncomfortable. There's a lot to be said about romance in Sailor Moon more generally, but this ain't the post for that. Point being is that Naru is fourteen and Nephrite has got to be at least ten years her senior.
4. Sailor Moon R
I've felt for a while that this season is weak. I think it's because of the Hell Tree arc -- though I love Ail and An as villains, this arc just feels half-assed at times. It also introduces attacks for the senshi that they don't keep after the conclusion of the arc. As for other weakening factors: I'm not crazy about the Specter Sisters. They're not very entertaining, and so I don't really care about them being redeemed. The finale of this season is also a bit difficult to follow; I found it somewhat convoluted. This season also has the second and last true filler episode.
Contrary to most people's opinions, I love Chibiusa in this season. She's a good complement to Usagi, and her antics are fun. This season also introduces Sailor Pluto, whom I love! I'm so fond of the fact that Luna P has her voice.
5. Sailor Moon SuperS
Where to begin. Well, first I'll give this season three massive compliments. One, it's by far the best looking season of Sailor Moon. Two, it has the best ending ("Rashiku Ikimasho") next to "Otome no Policy" from Sailor Moon R. Finally, the Amazon Trio are probably my favorite mid-tier villains in the series. They're bitchy, they're friends, they find each other annoying, they clown on each other, they're sore losers, they're all so damn dumb. It's hilarious.
HOWEVER. During the first bit of the season, there's some bizarre sexual overtones. We have these scenes of the trio at a bar, looking at polariods and commenting on women's (and sometimes men's) looks in skeevy ways. There's also the fact that they restrain their victims and look into their dream mirrors against their will while they scream their heads off. The strategy they employ is seduction, and believe me when I say that this isn't subtext. This all makes these episodes an uncomfortable watch.
The treatment of Fish's Eye in particular is concerning. He's a feminine gay man who typically chooses boys (in one episode he tries to seduce an elementary schooler) instead of men. Sailor Moon's treatment of MLM is frankly not great, but the way Fish's Eye is written smacks of homophobia and even transmisogyny at times. "He's a villain!" You say. Sure, but the only non-villain MLM in Sailor Moon is Mamoru (if you count the R movie as canon), who spends the entire series in relationships with girls. It's...uncomfortable.
The mid-tier villains that follow the trio are the Amazon Quartet, who are just straight up boring, save for PallaPalla.
Chibiusa is supposed to be the main character in this season, and she certainly has more spotlight than in S and R, but the writers can't decide if they want her to be the protagonist or if they want her to split that role with Usagi. There's also a lot of episodes that focus solely on her, Usagi, and Mamoru. Which I find terribly boring, because in these episodes the writers lean into Usagi and Chibiusa's similarities and make them virtually the same character...which they're not. Chibiusa ordinarily has a lot of early season 1 Mamoru's snark and wit, but in these episodes those traits disappear. Additionally, Usagi and Chibiusa always transform and attack together, which gets tedious and begins to feel too convenient, even for Sailor Moon.
Chibiusa is also given a love interest in Pegasus, who's actually a 12 year old boy and not an alicorn. Chibiusa is in the lower end of elementary school; she doesn't need a love interest. She's perfectly capable of carrying a season as the protagonist without this. I just find this writing lazy and problematic.
Oh, and the outer senshi are completely absent from this season, which sucks. They're in the manga, though! The idea the anime staff had for this season was to appeal to a younger audience and get back to the basics of Sailor Moon, but this just ain't it. The charm of the first season isn't there. The younger audience bit is also just bizarre when you consider what I discussed about the Amazon Trio earlier. I sense that there was a power struggle behind the scenes between Ikuhara and...someone, idk.

Now do the 5 Best Arcs Ever in Goddamnwebcomics History. It can't all be negativity here.
You know, I'm feeling generous, so I'm gonna list 7 best arcs ever.
7. Karastropov Arc - Kit n Kay Boodle
Kit n Kay Boodle being involved in a list of best anything might be ridiculous, but after reading issue after issue of stupid sex adventures, we finally get some real conflict as Gene and Catwhis send a message to Kit n Kay about how they tried to smuggle boinkberries in a sex-libido'd dictatorship. (I wonder if this took place before or after their comic) Turns out Kit and Kay have to go there themselves and come face to face with an ancient evil known as Karastropov. Karastropov is a very memorable villain as he is a bodysnatching God who wants to forfeit sex of all kinds. Karastropov is just the perfect villain for a pornocratic propaganda comic like this. He is no slouch either, he tricks the train guy to be possessed by him, and then when he learns he's friends with Kit and Kay, he fucking murders him as he bleeds to death in a chilling scene. Karastropov would eventually return but in an arc that's a lot worse than this one. This arc is so crazy it's actually unironically entertaining.
6. Mecha Maid's Malfunction Arc - Spinnerette
While not my favourite issues, and far from perfect, I feel that Mecha Maid's Malfunction Arc was Spinnerette being closest to ever being what Kraw wanted us to think it was. A deconstructive superhero comic with themes of lesbian relationships and balancing between real life and crime fighting. This is where we learn just how dire Mecha Maid's ALS is, and Heather doesn't have a lot of time as Mecha Maid confesses her love to Heather. The second part isn't quite as good as the first. As Mecha Maid is suddenly back to acting normal which even Heather knows it's weird, and then she proceeds to get drunk and try to hit on Marilyn while outside their costumes. Heather doesn't really face any consequences for her stupidity, but I forgot that the way it ends is rather sweet. It is a real shame outside of this arc and the issue with Adrastea, Mecha Maid's incoming ALS death is never an issue. This arc didn't have any villains, the real conflict was their relationship and I would argue it's one of the few times Heather's idiotic behaviour made sense, as she's literally rushing the relationship because she isn't sure how much time does Marilyn have on this earth. If Kraw wasn't as greedy and exploitative, then this comic could have been different and this arc is like a windowinto that alternate Spinnerette.
5. Storm of Souls - Dominic Deegan
Dominic Deegan is a comic with a ton of issues, but I know where exactly this comic peaked. Storm of Souls was the first Really Big arc, because it brought in something from just about every previous arc, while also introducing brand new concepts. Granted, the writing of this arc is not perfect because it's jacking off the protagonist so badly, but the later arcs would be a lot worse. When mysterious Storm of Souls breaks out, Deegan has to find a way to stop it, and finds an ancient guru named Klo Tark, who begins training Deegan to become the Champion of Balance. Meanwhile, Celesto is groomed by The Chosen to become their Champion of Chaos and give him the control over The Storm of Souls. During all this time, the Leaf Pun Witch must sacrifice herself to the Storm much to the misery of Rilian, while Gregory fights The Infernoprancer and Deegan family's old enemy Helixa is also afoot, and Jacob is fighting on her side with his golem! There is so much going on in this arc I can't even recap all of it. A lot of the later Really Big Arcs either don't have anything going on or have too much going on. Here, all the factions in this war have a reason to take part in this battle. I like how Storm of Souls is built up as this mysterious thing and we don't even know what it does until when Celesto falls into it. Speaking of Celesto, he was the real star of this arc and he became my favourite character in this comic for a reason. He survived all of Deegan's attacks and then after Deegan thinks he's turning on a new leaf, he betrays him. This arc was also a good sendoff to Jacob as a villain as he didn't really do anything evil after this. The Elf Guy becoming the real villain of the arc did feel rather rushed, and Helixa was killed off really quick, but I could go on and on and on about the flaws of this arc. The point is, compared to every other arc, especially the ones that came after it, Storm of Souls is the most redeemable Deegan arc.
4. Matt and Borzoi Arc - Gene Catlow
I know the way Gene Catlow does it's arcs is rather wonky, because for 60% of this comic's runtime this comic has been about Things Starting to Change (Part 4). Matt and Borzoi Arc is part of it, and it begins shortly after the end of the first fight against Horton. When Borzoi travels to Canovia, he happens to run into the mysterious black matagot, Matt. In order to free corrupt canovian politicians from his control, Borzoi becomes Matt's puppet and is soon tormented by Matt's mysterious powers. Although strange little bunny Michelle and the dog wife Matt gave to Borzoi, Beryl, try to support him, they're not even aware of Borzoi's dark side, the evil twin inside hiPFFFTHAHAHA. Yeah again not everything in this arc is perfect, but this is the arc that convinced me Matt is the best character in this webcomic. It also made Borzoi matter to the point I stopped calling him "Bigot Bark". And yeah, looking at it in hindsight, Michelle was not that bad. She was mainly just sneaking about, and if she was anything like the Family of intelligent Life it would have been a lot worse. This comic had a lot of moments of hopelessness for poor Borzoi which Family wouldn't have allowed. And although Matt gets betrayed all the time nowadays, Dawn and Dusk had a rather decent redemption arc, and Borzoi was almost brutally murdered by Matt with his mind powers. However after separating from Dawn and Dusk, Matt would start withering away himself. Thankfully, Matt would eventually recover and his greatest moment was yet to come.
3. Alejandra's Revenge Arc - Las Lindas
It's a good thing I stopped riffing at this arc, even if the ending sucked. Alejandra's return was nothing short of glorious and I will praise it as the peak of Las Lindas until the day this comic wants to take risks again. Although Alejandra wanted to fucking destroy that farm through any means necessary, she also had moments of sympathy during this arc, especially with Tootsie and Randall. And the highlight of this arc was Alejandra with a gun telling Mora like it is, but as soon as Mora knocked Alej out, it was all downhill from there. Then we got Plush Toy Lawyerification Alejandra, and ANOTHER DIGIT. And yeah no wonder I wanted to end this fucking comic, because it was really the end of an era.
2. The Party Arc - Alien Dice
Yeah, seriously. I was originally going to pick Trasik Arc, but that arc had way too many stupid reveals after another. Ultimately the arc that had the most things that I liked and that I look fondly back to, is the Party Arc. When Damian hosts a party in Lexx's island, Lexx and Chel just want to have a moment of bonding for themselves before Chel's federal agent father shows up the next day. Unfortunately, their party is interrupted by Zaile who Lexx finally learns is his brother, then their party is interrupted by Trasik who pisses Lexx off to the point he tells her that she will kill her if she ever shows up again and then finally the party ends when Epsy goes feral and almost mauls Lexx to death. This arc had a lot going on, but not in a chaotic way like Storm of Souls. The comic did give us few moments to breathe between all of the tension, Lexx and Chel gave us both their points of view of standing in a sea of strangers, and seeing them reunite after being separated for so long was sweet. But even more sweeter was when Chel finally called out Riley for his bullshit treatment of both her and Lisaan, and Riley even got punched. This arc could've been a stupid gala but instead we got a surprisingly intense evening full of revelations and challenges. If only we knew who those guests were supposed to be.
1. Feline Against Feline - Gene Catlow
Much like last time, I am going to define this as it's own arc. From the moment Family Power dies to Gene and Matt's intense as hell confrontation, Feline Against Feline is the peak of Gene Catlow and some of the best writing in this blog. When Family Power dies as it's being pet by that fucking idiot moron Horton, the Felin Family begins to panic and Matt calls in a meeting. All of a sudden new Family Power is born, which rejects Tane, Dawn and Dusk, the trio of traitors responsible for the death of the old Family Power. Just when Matt interrogates the group, Hosts attack, allowing Matt to show off his powers as he defends the Family. Although Feline Family is more bonded than ever, Dawn, Dusk and Tane leave the family along with the Big Cats and a group of other traitors, splitting the family in two. Matt and Cydnee then bond more as they make their goal of a feline-dominated planet clear. All this time Gene and Catwhis are returning from Friendship Island and getting ready to put a start to the Family of Intelligent Life with their new allies. And then we get THAT scene. Gene and Matt face eachother after so much buildup, during which Gene loses ALL of his cool, turning into a beast and almost killing Matt. This whole scene is perfect and it's shocking in that I was actually rooting for Gene in this scene. If it wasn't for Catwhis's interference, Gene could have gotten rid of the matagot boy forever, but no. Sadly, much like Alejandra's Revenge, we get a bullshit ending as the other half of Feline Family interferes, and then Big Cats show up to take away Matt's power, and also threaten to take away their free will if they ever try anything. This was the beginning of Matt's downfall and traitor after traitor going to Gene's side, but Feline Against Feline was a fucking fantastic arc even with it's sad ending. Matt is just fantastic from beginning to end, and his reaction to Gene's power being "oh shit we could use that power to take over the world" is so Matt. I also really miss the lineup as seen in the pic, back when Carson and Script Kiddies were evil. And what happened to the Kitten Family Power?
So there you have it, 7 examples of positivity.

Wound in the Force
The Acolyte got canceled and people are big mad about it. Kathleen Kennedy's PR team is in full swing trying to spin this to the best of their ability and pass the buck. Leslye Headland is out here, blaming fans, swearing it was a "vocal minority" who screamed loud enough for this "terrible" outcome, but the ratings straight up showed that NO ONE watched the show. The star, Amandla Sternberg, swears that Disney wasn't brave enough to stand by the show because it was crazy gay, not that her character Osha, was the absolute worst and resoundingly rejected by everyone with a set of eyes. The Acolyte failed because it was bad. Like, i only watched the first two episodes and knew sh*t was going to crash out based on that, alone. When they came for ol' girl over that absurd Space Kung Fu showdown, Osha had been on the same freighter for years. Years. Can't you check cameras? If she bounced on a personal rocket or whatever, you can't track that itinerary? Some drunk guy who saw the fight is your only evidence? Can't you force prod her memories to figure that sh*t out? Dumb. That's why the show failed. It was dumb. Every time one of these Kathleen Kennedy joints fail, I find myself writing this same goddamn rant. Make better sh*t!
The idea of The Acolyte, especially as Headland and Sternberg tell it in their outrage exit interviews, is an interesting one. A show about the duplicitous nature of "good" and "evil". Perspective. That would have been cool to explore, especially after seeing how clunky Lucas did it in Revenge, but the execution was not there and, for sure, the writing was trash. I mean, they killed off Trinity in the first episode and X-23 by the fourth? Why? There were six episodes left. That obviously gay coded relationship had no room to breath! No one cared when ALL of those characters, except the laughably abusive Master Jedi from Squid Game, were murdered by Chuckles the Sith Clown. All of that? Those first four or five episodes? That should have been season one in it's entirety. Chasing the not-Osha twin should have been the entire first season. Building up those characters and relationships should have been the plot. We should have grown to like and trust the Master Jedi guy, only to see, through the sparse interactions with the Lesbian Space Witches, his cruel streak. In fact, all of the sh*t about the Lesbian Space Witches should have been peppered through the initial season, culminating in that penultimate reveal from the Twin's perspective. This is plotting 101 and Headland failed. Sh*t makes me want to re-watch Russian Doll because i remember that being pretty good. There can't be such disparity in quality between these two shows when they're made by the same person, right?
Smooth Brains and Chauvinist bigots are proclaiming this failure as another example of "Go Woke, Go Broke", and i hate the fact they're kind of right. I don't believe in that because some of the Wokest sh*t around is incredibly popular. White people love Get Out and it's a straight up indictment on their whole “Value the Black body, not the Black life" deal they have going on. It's a direct confrontation, deconstruction, and subversion of the "Shut up and dribble" mentality you so often see among non-melanated, fake Christians. They got bamboozled by that solid writing and inspired execution. The presentation was so slick, those people didn't even know they were being called out. Letterkenny is one of the Wokest f*cking television shows I've ever seen, and not one complaint about it. Because it's f*cking inspired. Again, writing and execution. The Acolyte had none of that. They had a chip on their shoulder and was going to make it your, the viewers, problem. It wasn't a clever yet firm, accusation like Get Out or a intelligent denial like Letterkenny, it was a disrespectful accusation on your assumed disdain. And you can see that with how the “creators” have reacted from the cancellation.
The Acolyte was a bad show with strong ideas. I said as much after i ranted about how dumb those first few episodes were. I said as much above. The problem is the fact that Leslye and Kathy hate Star Wars. I don't know about Amandla but, since growing up, she's taken very specific roles. She wants to present a very specific image of herself which, cool. I'm not even going to sit here and say using Star Wars for that is a problem. It can be done. You want LBGTQ+ rep? Go for it. Chelli Aphra is a big ol' gay and she's one of my favorite characters. Full-on Disney Star Wars addition. Ahsoka Tano is at least bisexual, based on her initial book appearance and all the sexual tension in season seven of Clone Wars. Also Barris. She may not be now because Disney really is full of cowards, but I remember that smoldering, flirtatious energy, between my favorite Torgruta and Mirialan flavored Offee. No one is saying not to be gay in Star Wars or that message isn't important. I mean, there are some people, but they all have neck beards and Ken doll crotches so don't worry about them. The people who aren't brain dead don't mind. What we DO mind is how that sh*t is presented. Write better scripts. Create better character moments. Execute better production. If your show is good, people will watch, regardless of what you want to say. It's a matter of how you say it. The Whites LOVE Get Out and it's just two hours of Jordan Peele calling them culture vultures. If a movie and consistently insult it's audience, and still make a brinks truck full of money, what the f*ck is Lucasfilm doing? Also, what the f*ck is that helmet, bro?
