Could you give us a fun fact about Archimedes or any of your other doves (or maybe just doves in general)? I love how you draw them btw, they're so squishy and cute!!!
oh, i can give you quite a lot! but i will restrain myself so the post doesnt get too long..
for my birds, you may be curious to know that while archimedes is bonded to me, most of the other birds have their own bonds with each other. they are all my flock of course but its interesting to see how they form their own little pairs and so. you may also be interested to know each of my doves have fairly distinct personalities and treat preferences. archimedes specifically has an affinity for cranberries and for taking seeds from my trail mixes.
as for pigeons in general, anytime i get the chance i like to share how intelligent they are (just as an example, theyre one of the few species of birds that can pass the mirror test, and they have the ability to recognize faces and remember somewhat complex routes and tasks!) and how they are much cleaner than people seem to think they are (they are naturally fairly dusty birds but they value regularly washing and preening their feathers anytime they get the chance) :]
and.. well, originally i wanted to draw something more for this ask but unfortunately i havent had so much time lately, so enjoy this small archimedes doodle instead

And we finally get to meet Muichiro in “Wedding Plans”
Two men acted as bartenders. They were identical. Black hair with cyan tips and eyes of the same color. One of them held a neutral expression while the other one smiled at the guests, making small talk as he made their cocktails. Obanai knew him, but he was older, marked by the ghost of facial hair on his cheeks and upper lip. He hadn’t been old enough before he was ripped apart.
Obanai envisioned Muichiro in his black corps uniform staring up at the clouds, deep in thought. He saw parts of himself in the boy. Both of them had a deep seeded hatred towards demons and fueled their rage into killing every last one. Muichiro couldn’t recall his past, shutting out the trauma while Obanai remembered every detail of his own. He hoped Muichiro would live, but like most of them he died fighting.
“Do you know what you would like to drink, sir?” The bartender asked politely. Obanai looked up to meet the previous Mist Hashira’s gaze. They were no longer clouded.
Every Hashira was here. The stars aligned to bring them together again to celebrate a wedding.
“Just water,” Obanai said. “And a whirling peach cocktail.” Mitsuri said she was looking forward to trying all the drinks.
“Of course,” Muichiro took a clear plastic cup out from under the counter and poured cool water in. “Here you go.” He set the water and a straw on the counter top before preparing the mixed drink.
“Thanks,” he said. Muichiro pulled out peach schnapps, white rum, cranberry and orange juice and without measuring poured them into a tumbler before shaking with ice.
“Do you go to school around here?” Obanai asked as Muichirō poured the pink drink into a glass.
“Yeah, I’m a senior in the aerospace engineering program,” he answered, placing the rum back. “With a specialty in aeronautics,” Muichiro added. Of course, he was. Making paper airplanes had been one of his hobbies. The last remnant of a childhood lost to demons.
“My brother is going into aerospace. He always says ‘I have my head in the clouds and his is in the stars’.” He laughed. He’d never seen Muichiro smile so wide until today.
“Mui, stop socializing. There’s other guests,” the other twin grumbled as he walked up to Muichiro, who shot Obanai an apologetic look.

more sephardic cooking tips :D :
compotes are super important for both savory and sweet sephardic dishes.
to make them add chopped fruit to a pot with any unwanted peels, pits, and seeds removed. then add a bit of sugar/honey and lemon juice to the fruit. if your fruit is naturally tart when cooked (such as lemons) you can skip the lemon juice. there's no exact measurements but about 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tbsp sugar for every cup of fruit is a good guide.
turn the heat to medium high and let it come to a boil while slowly mixing and mushing. once it boils bring it down to a simmer and cook and mush it around til you've reached your desired consistency. the amount you cook it will determine whether you get more of a jam like texture or a pie filling texture. when its done you can add things like cloves or orange zest!
recipe for cranberry orange compote:
2 cups cranberry
1 tbsp orange zest
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp cinnamon (i rlly like cinnamon you may want less)
add cranberries, lemon juice, and honey to a pot
turn heat to medium high and slowly mix and mush it around until it boils. bring it to a simmer once it boils
simmer and continue to squish it around for 10-20 minutes until it's your preferred texture. i like it like a very chunky jam
remove from heat and add orange zest and cinnamon.
serve with pastries, bread, cheese, ice cream, etc.

Unsolicited Thanksgiving parenting tip! Make Cranberry Sauce with your kids!
It’s easy, it’s fun, it’s almost impossible to mess up, and lets you be creative together!
A basic cranberry sauce is 12oz cranberries (the size bag you’ll see everywhere this time of year) + 1 cup liquid + 1 cup sweet. Boil it till the berries pop, mash or blend it, chill, enjoy!
The fun is improvising around those basics. For the liquid try OJ, Apple Cider, Ginger Ale, etc! For the sweet you can go white sugar, or try brown, or honey, or maple syrup, etc!
And then add some notes, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, or other fruits like apples or mandarins. Some crushed nuts on top or pomegranate seeds are also nice!
The great part is letting the kiddos (or your inner child) make all the choices. We’ve done a tropical mix with pineapple juice, mangoes, and macadamia nuts; this year we’re doing pomegranate juice, honey, and pears. It’s always tasty and fun!

Silvaaran Poppy Seed Sweet Bun Recipe
A bun made of fluffy enriched dough, filled with a poppy seed and dried fruit mixture. For a savory version: switch out the poppyseed filling for roasted carrots and fennel. Add bacon if you’re feeling bougie.
Sweet Bun Filling
(Recipe by Karolina from Polishfoodies.com)
Ingredients
2 cups of poppy seeds
2 cups of milk
2.5oz (70g) of dried apricots
2.5oz (70g) of dried cranberries
2.5oz (70g) of raisins
2.5oz (70g) of candied orange peel dices
2.5oz (70g) of ground walnuts
4 tbsps of honey
4 tbsps of butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Rinse and drain the poppy seeds.
Cover the poppy seeds with milk and cook for 30 minutes.
In the meantime, dice the dried apricots.
Drain the poppy seeds and grind them once or twice.
Add honey, butter, ground walnuts, and dried fruits. Mix.
Set aside to cool completely and set aside for future use.
Milk Bread Dough
(Recipe by the Woks of Life)
Ingredients
2/3 cup heavy cream (room temp)
1 large egg (room temp)
1/3 cup sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon yeast (dry active or instant)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
Simple syrup (1 tablespoon sugar, dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water)
INSTRUCTIONS
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, add the ingredients in the following order: heavy cream, milk, egg, sugar, all-purpose flour (or mixture of cake flour & bread flour, if using), yeast, and salt. Turn on the mixer to “stir,” and knead for 15 minutes, occasionally stopping the mixer to push the dough together. If the dough is sticking to the sides of the bowl, add a little more flour 1 tablespoon at a time until it pulls away from the sides (it should be sticking to the bottom of the mixing bowl, but not the sides). If kneading by hand, extend the kneading time by 5-10 minutes.
Next, cover the dough with a damp towel, and place in a warm spot until the dough has doubled in size (1-2 hours). In the meantime, grease a baking vessel on all sides with butter.
After the dough has doubled in size, put it back in the mixer, and stir for another 5 minutes to get rid of air bubbles. Dump the dough on a lightly floured surface and divide into 16 even balls. Flatten each ball into a disk and spoon a heaping tablespoon of poppyseed filing into the center. Pinch closed and roll back into shape. Repeat with the remaining buns and once all are shaped, let them proof, covered, for another hour.
Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat it to 350° F/175°C. Brush the now risen buns with egg wash. Bake for 23-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush the warm bread with sugar water to give it shine and sweetness. Drizzle honey onto each bun whiles they’re still warm and sprinkle more poppy seeds on top.
Best eaten fresh and with tea.

Native Gardening: A Guide for Cold Stratification
It's nearly January, which means that it's time for me to start stratification for my native seeds.
Many native seeds have a built-in dormancy mechanism which will prevent germination until it is broken either naturally by weather, or artificially via cold/moist stratification in the refrigerator. This is a guide for the refrigeration method.
It's best done about 2-3 months before spring if you plan on starting the seeds indoors, or 2-3 months before your last frost date if sowing outdoors (depending on germination requirements). This year I'm using peat moss but you can substitute it with moist sand or damp paper towels.
Choosing Your Plants
One thing to consider before buying native seeds is how successful they will be once planted in your garden. The best way to determine this is by going outside and seeing what grows naturally in the yard.
For example, my yard has mostly shade-loving plants like the Common Blue Violet, Bloodroot, and Witchgrass, along with some hardier, more tolerant species like Blue Wood-Aster and Common Milkweed. Sun-loving plants like goldenrod are present but restricted to the edges of the property. Despite having no natural water source, I have seen a few water-dwelling species pop up as well.
This means that I have a pretty moist/shady backyard and that I should focus on species that either prefer these conditions or are very tolerant of them.
Remember to choose species that grow naturally in your biosphere. Some native seed vendors will provide range maps which will show you where certain plants exist in the wild. This is important because the entire point of native gardening is to support your local ecology and wildlife.
This year I'm raising Virginia Strawberry, Early Goldenrod, Sundial Lupine, Columbine, Spotted-Touch-Me-Not, Bloodroot, and Highbush Cranberry. In addition to pollinators like bees, wasps. and butterflies, these plants will be beneficial to songbirds, hummingbirds, and small mammals.
I always buy seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery. I've had great experiences with them and they even offer native range maps and germination instructions for each species.
Materials:
One bag of peat moss
A mixing bowl
A pitcher or measuring cup of water
Lidded jars or sealable plastic bags (1 per species)
A permanent marker and painters tape for labels.
Seeds of your choosing
Instructions:
Fill your mixing bowl with peat moss.
Slowly add water and mix with your hands until the moss is moist but not soaked. You should be able to form it into a ball.
Press peat moss into each container.
Sprinkle in the seeds. I covered the larger seeds with more peat moss, but the smaller seeds were just sprinkled on top so that I can actually find them when it's time to plant.
Seal containers and label each with the species name, length of time required in the fridge, (usually 60-90 days), and if it requires double dormancy.***
After this, place the containers in the fridge for 60-90 days, depending on the germination requirements. You should check on them weekly to make sure they don't dry out or grow mold. If a seed starts sprouting during stratification, remove it from the container and plant it in a starter pot.
After the 60-90 day period, the seeds will be ready to germinate. Move them into starter pots with soil or plant them directly into your garden bed.
I prefer starting my plants in Peat Pots, which are compostable and can be planted directly in the ground. This allows me to raise my seedlings indoors without the threat of wildlife or competition while preventing me from disturbing their root system when transplanting.
***Note on Double Dormancy
Some plants have double dormancy requirements for germination and can be more challenging to grow. This means that the plant will need a period of cold moisture, then warm moisture, and finally another period of cold moisture before they will germinate. Bloodroot, American Cranberrybush, and Spotted-Touch-Me-Not are all species that need double dormancy.

Thank you for all that you are doing to share Quincy's Recipes! I saw a Spiced Cranberry Cider under Holiday Healthy Potions. If you have this one, that would be wonderful.
If not, that's okay. What you are sharing is incredible!
Have your best day ever.
Holiday Health Potions: Spiced Cranberry Cider
Ingredients
2 oranges
1 pod star anise (the whole star, not just one slice of it)
3 whole cloves
5 black peppercorns
½ cup honey or maple syrup (or your own preferred unprocessed sweetener, if you like)
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground ginger
6 cups of cranberry juice (Quincy doesn’t specify, but given the extra sweetener, probably 100% juice, not the sweetened blend that you’ll often find)
Optional: pomegranate seeds
Optional: wine or liquor
Instructions
Peel your oranges and put the peels aside for now. Break the oranges into slices. Put your slices in a bowl or glass and mash them until they are all one mass of orange.
In a large pot, mix orange mash, orange peels, your sweetener, spices, and cranberry juice, and spike if you like. Turn up the heat to medium high, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Let it cool if you like, or serve it warm. Before/as you store or drink it, strain out the spices and fruit from the liquid. You can either use a colander scoop to scoop the spices and fruit out of the pot or put a strainer over cups to catch the flavorings as you pour cider into them.
If you have pomegranate arils, put them in the cup before ladling/pouring cider over them.
Enjoy!
And if you'd like some Certified Yuletide Bops to go with it, here's some English folk songs, including Gloucester Wassail and Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPh8zlMr7xg
