Orange-Cranberry Delight Bread This delightful bread is a perfect balance of tart cranberries and zesty orange, topped with a sweet glaze that makes it an irresistible treat for any occasion. Ingredients Servings: 8 people (makes 1 loaf) Cranberry Bread Ingredients 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup milk, room temperature Zest of 1 large orange, divided 1/4 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 large eggs, room temperature 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and patted dry 1/2 Tbsp all-purpose flour Orange Glaze Ingredients: 1 cup powdered sugar 1 1/2 Tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice, or to reach desired consistency 1 tsp orange zest, reserved from the orange above Instructions How to Make Orange-Cranberry Delight Bread: Prep: Preheat oven to 350?F. Butter a 6 cup (8 1/2 by 4 1/2 bread loaf pan) then dust with flour, tapping out the excess flour. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a measuring cup, combine the milk, zest of 1 orange (reserve 1 tsp zest for the glaze), and orange juice. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium/high speed for 2-3 minutes until just combined. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing until well incorporated. Gradually add the flour mixture in 2 parts, alternating with the milk mixture, mixing on medium/low speed just until incorporated. Scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed. Toss the cranberries with 1/2 Tbsp flour and gently fold them into the batter until just incorporated. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes at 350?F until golden on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then run a cake release tool or knife around the edges and transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing. To Make the Glaze: In a separate bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and reserved teaspoon of zest. Stir until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed by adding more orange juice to thin it out or powdered sugar to thicken it.

I always get so excited when I see your prompt lists. I also always have such a hard time choosing because they’re all always so good!
I’m requesting two this time 😂 freshly baked breads and Making the house super cozy with Nat please??
EEEEEEEPP!!!! Sylvie, Sylvie my love, you know I'd be more than happy to do this for you!!! (lol).
The first frost of the year still coated the ground, the skies looking overcast as ever and giving your yard a big helping of spooky even though it was only late September. Your hands kept working away at the grainy, doughy mixture in the bowl, kneading it until everything was properly mixed together.
"Still workin at it sweet cheeks?" Natasha asked, folding up one of the throw blankets and draping it over the back of the couch.
"Been working at it since I woke up," you told her. "I've got two more that need to go into the oven and this one which needs to proof."
Natasha cracked a bit of a smile as she kept folding up the blankets and setting out all the stuff for fall. As soon as the dough was ready to proof, you stuck it in the warmest spot you could find, took the other two out and plopped them right into the loaf pans to bake, coating them over in just a little bit of egg before sticking them into the oven.
"Which one's first?" Natasha asked.
"The cranberry one," you told her.
"Oooooh," Natasha groaned. "That's gonna smell real good."
You spent the entire morning making the house as cozy as possible with lots of reds, oranges, yellows, browns and pine greens and soon the whole house had begun to smell good with the loaves baking away in the oven. The coffee maker was soon brewing away with a cinnamon pastry coffee streaming into two cups, filling the whole kitchen alongside the scent of the bread.
Out of the oven came the cranberry loaf and in went the rosemary and olive oil and the overwhelmingly grainy one you had worked at earlier. You coated the cranberry one in a powdered sugar glaze, serving you and Natasha both a slice to go alongside the coffee.
"You think it's gonna start snowing soon?" she asked.
"At some point," you said with a shrug. "Guess until then we enjoy what we've got."
You kissed each other with the taste of cranberry still lingering on each other's lips, the house cozy as ever and the two of you eager to enjoy the lazy weekend ahead.

TWSTOBER DAY FIVE: TREY CLOVER
With the pastry thief caught, Trey was happy to get back to baking. His treats were practically famous around the dorm, so him getting back in the kitchen is a blessing for everyone involved. Now the only question is what to make. Shortbread cookies are a definitely a good idea, or maybe a batch of tarts. As he rummaged through the kitchen, he soon decided on something simple. A nice fruit bread. There should be a few apples and cranberries in the fridge. Some yeast in the cabinets. It's plain, simple, and it'll taste amazing with a side of apple butter. A smile comes to Trey's face as he pulls out the ingredients, laying them out on the countertop before moving to the sink and washing his hands.
“Oo is the baker back in business?” Trey turned to the sound of the voice, meeting Cater as he peeked in the doorway of the kitchen.
“Yeah, since we caught the thief, it should last in the pantry for more than a night.” Trey replied, moving to dry his hands. Cater walks into the kitchen, looking at the ingredients with a soft hum.
“What are we making? Tarts, scones? Oh maybe some pretzels?”
“Just some fruit bread. It's the best way to get people to eat their fruits, you know?” Trey replied, walking back over to his ingredients as he looked at Cater with a playful smile. “why, are you planning to take some right out the oven?”
Cater let out a chuckle. “Steal from you? That's def rude. I was looking to help a bit. Sous Chef Cay Cay at your service.”
“Oh really? Guess I wouldn't mind a bit of help. But you better wash your hands first.” Trey replied as he moves over to the cabinets, pulling out two aprons before tossing one to Cater. “And you'll want one of these if you want to keep your clothes clean.” As Trey tied his apron behind him, patterned with red and black hearts, he heard a chuckle.
“Wow, you're real subtle ain't ya Trey?” Cater said as he turned off the faucet. Trey let out a curious, hum, turning to face Cater. He was holding out the apron Trey had tossed him. It was a pale orange color, with red writing that said “Hotter than the oven”. Trey let out a nervous chuckle, a smile on his face.
“I forgot about that apron. Ace got it as a gift for me last year.” Cater looked at Trey with a playful smirk.
“So you're the hot one in the kitchen?” Trey let out a sigh, no matter how he tried to turn this, it wasn't gonna work out well. “Well you're the one with the apron. I guess you're the hot one now.” Cater let out a chuckle, tying the apron around his waist.
“Aww, thanks Trey. Def gonna need a pic in this thing”
“Save the pics for after the baking is done alright? and then you'll have a focus for the picture too.” Trey added, Cater giving a prompt nod before moving next to him.“now, Let's get to baking”
After about 30 minutes of measuring flour and kneading dough, the bread was proofing on the counter. Trey was cutting apples, while Cater was mixing the glaze. “No wonder you're so strong Trey. Kneading that dough is a real workout.” Trey let out a laugh as he finished up cutting another apple, grabbing a fresh one.
“I guess. I'm nowhere near a body builder, but you'll certainly get some muscle when your family runs a pastry shop. Carrying bags of flour, kneading dough. It all adds up.”
"I'm gonna need to come to your place. Imagine Cay Cay getting some gains.” Cater replied, taking the cut apples and mixing them into the glaze. “Maybe then this apron will fit me a bit better”
“If you asked me, I'd say it fits you rather well.” Cater's hands went still, turning to face Trey. Trey met his gaze, his eyes wide. He said that out loud didn't he? The two were silent for a moment before Cater broke the silence, a smile on his face.
“Well, you're not too bad yourself Trey.” He said, before turning back to the apples in the bowl. Trey had to take a moment, still in shock before he let out a sigh.
“Thanks Cater.” He moves back to the bread, uncovering it to reveal it had doubled in size. “Come on, once we layer this bread we can get it in the oven.” Cater let out a chuckle, a smile on his lips, the tension fading like a waft in the wind.
“Yes, chef!”
The scent of apples and cinnamon filled the room, the golden brown loaf still steaming fresh out the oven. Cater was taking a hundred pics a minute. “It's so Perf right now! We made that!” He said, the excitement of a child in his tone as Trey looked at the loaf with a smile. The pride of baking was always a pleasant sensation, but it felt even better doing it with someone else.
“It's one of my favorite recipes. Once it cools we'll cut a few slices”
“That's a yay yay from Cay Cay.” He responded before he let out a soft oh. “Let's get that pic while the bread is still steaming!”Trey gave him a nod.
“Alright, lets do it.” Trey stood on one side of the loaf with a smile, Cater on the other side, one hand holding the phone, the other making a peace sign as he took the pic.
“#baking #letsgetthisbread #cookingbythebook. And post” Cater put his phone away before turning to Trey. “It's my turn on the roses, but We def have to do this again! This is real fun honestly.”
“Next time I get something to make, I'll give you an Invitation” Trey replied, a smile on his face. “Get going before Riddle takes your head.” Cater let out a chuckle before making his way out the kitchen. Trey let out a relaxed sigh, leaning on the countertop in front of the bread. He definitely needs to bake with people more often, especially Cater. Maybe he can get him into cooking too. It would be nice to hang out with him more.
One thing for sure, Cater is keeping that apron

Wellness Wednesday:
Doubts Creepin' In
Couple of weeks ago I said I wanted to "finish strong" - I wanted to weigh the lowest I've ever weighed on my last weigh-in, I have a few unwritten goals that I want to surpass, and I want to skate into the New Year flawless on my diet.
Well,
I have become extremely snacky recently. I am still eating "clean" but the portions are getting out of control.
The recent Snack Attack obviously hasn't helped my weightloss progress
And...
I got a Family Holiday Dinner coming around corner just before my penultimate weigh-in and I don't know if I can resist all the side dishes... especially since I will be deprived of my most coveted Holiday Elixirs - I'm talking about the Three Wise-Men of Winter Goodness:
Cranberry Punch,
Eggnog,
and Hot Chocolate
Hot Damn, I will miss thee three.
Lastly - I absolutely cannot stand working out/exercising at the moment. Every work has been completed begrudgingly.

Monday, November 18th, 2024.
What’s the largest animal you’ve ever had as a pet? We've only ever had cats and fish, but none of our cats were particularly hefty.
Do you own any heirloom jewelry? I don't.
What were you doing at this time yesterday? I was at the animal shelter, in the midst of cleaning kennels. But this time on this day, I'm baking a chaotic carrot cake based on available ingredients and a dash of diabolical whimsy. It's in the oven now, so we'll see how it turns out. It doesn't really matter if it's a disaster because it's just for my dad and I to enjoy. No one at the animal shelter will have to deal with this atrocity. :')
Do you own any kind of helmet? No.
Out of everything currently in your refrigerator, what food or drink is your favorite? We've got a lot of desserts/treats in there at the moment - sugar cookies, banana walnut bread, cream cheese brownies, orange cranberry muffins, some things my dad brought home from synagogue… The cream cheese brownies are probably my favorite. So rich and so good. As for something not dessert-related, my favorite thing would be Greek yogurt. When it comes to drinks, I think there's a half-finished bottle of Powerade, some coffee creamer, and almond milk. And my favorite in that case would be the coffee creamer.
Are your initials in alphabetical order? No.
Has anyone ever answered one of your surveys with a rude attitude? Sudden flashbacks to Hold My Keys or whatever her username was. Came out of nowhere, kept "arrowing" my answers with rude remarks, and accused me of speaking like I was from the 19th century (not sure why I should consider that an insult, but to be fair, my vocab choices probably were a bit extra).
Do you like the taste of cough syrup? I don't mind the grape kind, but the cherry kind is BLEH.
What is something you like to have conversations about? History, the paranormal, conspiracies, philosophy, religion, politics, current events, random everyday stupid shit…
Do you ever put fruit on your cereal? Pretty sure I've had cereal with bananas before. I don't really eat milky cereal these days, though. If anything I'll make a fruit and yogurt bowl and top it with a bit of whatever cereal we have on hand.
Is your heat or air conditioning currently on? The furnace is running downstairs.
How do you usually celebrate your favorite holiday? I can't settle on a favorite holiday. It's a tie between Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. For this Thanksgiving, instead of buying a bunch of premade/just-add-water side dishes, I'm planning on doing my own cooking/baking. Roast chicken (not gonna make a whole turkey when it's just the two of us), apple pie, glazed carrots, macaroni salad, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes…maybe my dad will make a loaf of homemade bread. I think the only thing that will be box-made will be the stuffing.
Have you ever been on a houseboat? No.
Which do you value more, your appearance or your intelligence? Intelligence.
Do you learn from your mistakes? It might take a while in some cases, but I do eventually learn from my mistakes.
Do you learn from the mistakes of others? Yeah.
Any guess as to why some people draw out the last letter when they type, likee thiss forrr exampleee? I do it for emphasis, like I'm mimicking the way I would say it out loud.
What’s the last nice thing you did for someone? I guess volunteering is nice.
Were your grandparents present when you were born? I don't think so.
Have you ever eaten/drank something and then realized it was past the expiration date? Yeah.
Do you own any jewelry containing your birthstone? I don't.
What is something unusual that annoys you? It's not all that unusual, but whenever someone tries to talk to me while I'm typing or reading. It's frustrating to be interrupted and it ruins my concentration flow. Obviously not a big deal, but a peeve nonetheless.
