Video #DetrasDeLaPortada La foto de portada está hecha en Oliden, Provincia de Buenos Aires; un pueblito que podes encontrar haciendo mucho zoom en Google maps. La nota cuenta cómo la preexistente crisis educativa pública en Latinoamérica se profundizó aún más en contexto de pandemia; siendo las familias rurales -con poco o ningún acceso a una compu o a internet- las más afectadas. Mucha de la acción de ese día se centralizó en el esfuerzo autogestionado de una gran caravana para repartir alimentos y material de estudio a lo largo de una ruta que atraviesa campos. Pero yo no podía conformarme solo con eso e intuía que mis imágenes estarían escondidas un poco más atrás de la linea de acción. Al fondo de la escuela me encontré con patios de recreo donde los pastizales abrigaban juegos vacíos. Cuando vi el mástil entendí que era necesario hacer un acto simbólico, psicomágico. Le propuse a la maestra izar la bandera aunque no haya nadie alrededor… como un gesto de fortaleza y resiliencia. #JackedKirby - Rakenstein’s Monster!!! 💥💥💥 Jack was never one to waste a good layout.... even if it was repurposed a few issues later in the same arc! Here is a great example of just that... one being a cover and another being an interior splash page two issues later!!! 💥💥💥 The first two images are the original pencils and final colored image from #Issue11 of The Demon published in August of 1973. It features The Monster, an evil creation of Baron von Rakenstein... aka Dr Evilstein! The Monster rampages through Gotham City and encounters The Demon... But he doesn’t seem to be so evil after all. He seems like he is trying to ESCAPE from Rakenstein’s control... 💥💥💥 A few issues later we see a splash page opening up Chapter 2 of #Issue13 of the Demon (picture 3) published in October of 1973. It features The Monster again, in a very similar pose and layout as the previous cover. Feet covered in rubble, people running away, the Monster towering over the scene... it is nearly identical. But it’s NOT... it’s actually completely different! 💥💥💥 Jack could recreate a page almost exactly, effortless maintaining the continuity of his linear art work.
