"Wichita Lineman" was released during the week of October 26, 1968 – 56 years ago! My favorite song performed by Glen Campbell *and* written by Jimmy Webb deftly blends a feeling of warmth with that haunting autumn chill 🍂 Cover song recorded live at The Village Studios on Oscar Peterson’s Steinway & Sons for the COVER ME collection. Released by Novy Music (a division of Novy Unlimited) 🎹

XOLEX "Ain't Buyin' It" Strikes a Chord for Survivors of Toxic Relationships As the latest musical export from the heartland of America, XOLEX (Alexis Curran) has quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the country-pop scene. Born in Iowa and now based in Nashville, this non-conformist country woman has crafted a sound that effortlessly fuses pop sensibilities with soulful roots and a rock n' roll edge. "Ain't Buyin' It," her most recent hit, is a strong and inspirational anthem that will speak to everyone who has ever been in a toxic relationship. [embed]https://open.spotify.com/track/39ImmzpOk7w0KtJs6ViY0o?si=09be9e3eecac4694[/embed] From the moment you hit play, "Ain't Buyin' It" hooks you with its anthemic qualities. XOLEX's vocals are a standout feature on this track. She has a powerful, passionate voice that is similar to Kelly Clarkson and Stevie Nicks, two powerful vocalists. She effortlessly moves between powerful belts and tender, intimate moments, imbuing the song with a raw, emotional depth that is nothing short of captivating. It's not difficult to picture this song becoming a karaoke staple for individuals eager to express their disappointments and victories. Behind the scenes, "Ain't Buyin' It" is the result of a fruitful collaboration between XOLEX and the song's co-writers and producers, Bobby Terry and EllieMae. In order to give the song its broad appeal, the dynamic duo had to strike the ideal balance between the gritty rock and roll components and the irresistible pop melodies. The production is polished without losing the raw energy that makes this track so compelling, a testament to their expertise in crafting a hit. https://youtu.be/wCY_vCk_7YU The global appeal of "Ain't Buyin' It" is one of its most outstanding features. While it's rooted in the country genre, the fusion of pop and rock influences makes this track accessible to a diverse audience of music enthusiasts. XOLEX's anthemic, defiant sound can resonate with fans of artists like Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, and even Joan Jett, proving that she has the potential to become a major player in the industry. "Ain't Buyin' It" by XOLEX is a powerful and empowering anthem that serves as a moving on soundtrack for anyone who has experienced a toxic relationship. This song will undoubtedly make a lasting impression on listeners and establish XOLEX as a rising star in the music industry because to its alluring combination of pop, rock, and country elements. You can't help but experience a sense of catharsis and emancipation as the song reaches its victorious conclusion, which is evidence of the emotional impact of XOLEX's musicianship. my taytay conspiracy theory is that at this point i think if you pay attention it's unrelentingly obvious she uses relationships to keep her brand center focus. i dont even think she does it consciously i just think that she cannot possibly conceive of the idea that a romantic relationship of hers is not inherently built on the foundations of assuming that it only exists to sell her next album and stay constantly in the pop culture spotlight with a string of high-profile soulmates that she can then go write chart-topping tastelessly homogenized relationship songs for every stage of any socially normative relationship. taylor swift does not exist to be a person. she doesnt even exist to be a singer-songwriter or a celebrity personality. she exists to sell you the idea of taylor swift and every boy she ever gets involved with is just to give a boost to her next fiscal quarter.

Nothing like getting a song stuck in your head and suddenly remembering your mom talking about how it reminded her of her relationship with her own mother (derogatory) and how you were Fucking Baffled that your mother couldn't see how she was doing The Exact Same Thing To You

Which song was Jolene'e biggest flop
OMG haha well.. Jolene had a whole flop album. After his third album's sales didn't live up to the previous two, his producer thought that maybe the whole countrypop thing was getting stale. Maybe it was time to shake it up and try something new? Jolene was encouraged to do an experimental 4th album and change things up as much as possible. This wasn't something Jolene himself wanted to do. He's very comfortable in his niche and thought why would you mess with something that IS working? He wanted to keep making the music he loved... but alas, management had their way and the 4th album featured heavy electronic and synth sounds on top of his usual acoustic guitar performance. The mixing was pretty terrible (often the backing track completely washes out Jolene's voice and you can barely hear him over it), and overall nothing really jelled.
Tumblr media
Leapyear is widely regarded as the worst track on the album. Written after Hops broke up with him, Jolene ditches his whole charming cowboy persona and is angry and even straight up mean, a far cry from any of the numerous breakup songs he'd released before. Usually his breakup songs are wistful and melancholic. He'd never been broken up with before (usually his relationships just naturally fizzled out on their own), and the new side of his personality revealed in this song wasn't something his fans could connect with. Not to mention it was almost obnoxiously long (at just over 6 minutes), had no repeating chorus, and featured large, spoken chunks of what sounded like incoherent rambling.
Jolene steamrolled ahead with a return to his roots for his 5th album, and as far as he's concerned, that 4th album never happened...
