HAPPY 42ND BIRTHDAY TO HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES, WILLIAM ARTHUR PHILIP LOUIS ♡

On 21 June 1982, Prince William was born to Diana and Charles, then known as Prince and Princess of Wales in St Mary's Hospital, London, at at 21:03 BST. He was born during the reign of his paternal grandmother Elizabeth II and was the first child born to a Prince and Princess of Wales since Prince John's birth in July 1905.

The little prince's name was announced on 28 June as William Arthur Philip Louis. Wills was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, on 4 August.

William studied at Jane Mynors' nursery school and Wetherby School in London before joining Ludgrove. He was subsequently admitted to Eton College, studying geography, biology, and history at the A-level.

The Prince undertook a gap year taking part in British Army training exercises in Belize, working on English dairy farms, and as part of the Raleigh International programme in southern Chile, William worked for ten weeks on local construction projects and taught English.

In 2001, William enrolled at the University of St Andrews, initially to study Art History but then changed his field of study to Geography with the support of the love of his life Catherine Elizabeth Middleton who he met while at school.

Will and Cat fell in love during their time at uni, and married at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. The couple have three adorable cupcakes Prince George (b.2013), Princess Charlotte (b.2015) and Prince Louis (b.2018). The family of five divide time between their official residence, Kensington Palace and their two private residences - Amner Hall & Adelaide Cottage.

After university, William trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 2008, he graduated from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell and joined the RAF Search and Rescue Force in early 2009. He transferred to RAF Valley, Anglesey, to receive training on the Sea King search and rescue helicopter, which made him the first member of the British royal family since Henry VII to live in Wales.

During his active career as a Search and Rescue Pilot, William conducted 156 search and rescue operations, which resulted in 149 people being rescued. He then served as a full-time pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance starting in July 2015, donating his full salary to the EAAA charity.

Working with all branches of the military, he holds the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, Commander in the Navy and Wing Commander in the Air-Force

Upon their wedding, WillCat became HRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Strathearn and Baron and Lady Carrickfergus. He became the heir apparent on 8 September 2022, receiving the titles of the Duke of Cornwall & The Duke of Rothesay. William & Catherine were made The Prince and Princess of Wales by Kimg Charles on 9 September 2022. Additionally, William also became the Prince & High Steward of Scotland, Earl of Chester, Earl of Carrick, Lord of the Isles, and Baron Renfrew.

As well as undertaking royal duties in support of The King, both in the UK and overseas, The Prince devotes his time supporting a number of charitable causes and organisations with some of his key areas of interest being Mental health, Conservation, Homelessness, Sports and Emergency Workers.

He has undertaken several overseas trips representing the monarch, covering a wide array of countries like Australia, Canada, Namibia, Malaysia, South Africa, Tanzania, Pakistan Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, France, India, The Bahamas, Belize, Afghanistan etc ; He is also is also a founder of various initiatives like United For Wildlife, Heads Together, Earthshot and Homewards.

On March 27th 1371 Robert II was crowned at Scone, the first of the famed Stewart dynasty.

The first monarch of the House of Stewart, Robert became heir to his namesake and grandfather, king Robert I Bruce in 1318. However, in 1324 a son was born to Robert I, the future David II. In 1326 Robert was recognised as David’s heir should the latter die without male issue. By this time Robert had inherited the title of steward of Scotland. At the Battle of Neville’s Cross in 1346, Robert fled the field together with Patrick, earl of March. At times I like to refer to the chronicles of the time and the local English one of the time tells us that.....

"if one was worthless, the other was nothing ... [the Steward] overwhelmed, by cowardice, broke his promise to God that he would never wait for the first blow in battle, and he fled with [March]. Turning their backs, these two fled valiantly with their force and entered Scotland unscathed, and so they led the dance, leaving David to dance his own tune.

King David II was taken prisoner and spent the next eleven years in English captivity, Robert Sewart became the guardian of Scotland until 1357, King in all but name. The relationship between David II and the Steward was poor and there is clear evidence that the Steward deliberately stalled progress towards the payment of the king’s ransom and his release from captivity. Shortly after David’s release in 1357 the Steward was created earl of Strathearn. King David II died without offspring on 22 February 1371 and Robert succeeded him to the throne, being crowned on 27 March 1371.

By the time he was actually King, rather than regent he was an old man by medieval standards and had difficulty controlling his nobles, who were eager to renew the war with England.

At 70, he was described as having 'eyes the colour of sandalwood, which clearly showed he was no valiant man but one who would rather remain at home than march the field'. His actions back in 1346 certainly point to a man who had no appetite for fight, unlike his Grandfather and namesake, The Bruce.

Robert married twice and produced 21 children (eight were illegitimate), and the fact that his first wife's children were born outside the marriage created long-standing bitterness as Robert III's reign was to show.

During Robert II's final years, his two eldest sons acted as his lieutenants. He died in 1390.

Personally, I've had enough of this circus. The monarchy does nothing to stop them and we end up wondering if there is not a double game on the part of Charles and the palace. Four years have passed and so many things that could have been done and nothing happened. The palace protects these two traitors and considers the public stupid. They could have taken away the duchy from them, demoted them to the rank of count and countess or worse, baron and baroness. All traitors.

I think many people are feeing fed up with the Harkle antics and the lack of a firm response from the palace. I know I am. I agree that more could be done to minimise the Harkle damage.

I would start by making a very clear distinction between them and the rest of the royal family, in a way that would be understood by people in any country, such as taking Harry off the royal website. King Charles made a good beginning in his speech shortly after his accession where he spoke of William and Catherine as The Prince and Princess of Wales and referred to Harry as Harry, while wishing him well in his life overseas, but - he then didn't follow it up with any action to reinforce that distinction, so Harry was able to continue to imply that he was an important member of the royal family, and there was nothing to contradict this on the website or in his titles.

With respect to the titles, my understanding is they go together, as a group. The format is to have a Dukedom in England, an Earldom in Scotland, and a Barony in Northern Ireland (Wales is reserved for the heir to the throne). Prince William's titles upon marriage followed the same format (Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus), as did Prince Andrew's (Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh) and Prince Philip's (Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, Baron Greenwich). Prince Edward was unusual in that he was made and Earl, not a Duke, and promised the Dukedom of Edinburgh in due course (Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn). He also held no Scottish or Northern Irish title until he was granted the Earl of Forfar for use in Scotland on his 55th birthday.

As the titles were bestowed together, to my mind they should be removed together, which would leave Harry as The Prince Harry and Meghan as The Princess Meghan (EDIT: Correction: The Princess Harry/Henry, not Meghan - my mistake, sorry). I would much rather have the HRH style and Prince title permanently removed from Harry, leaving him as the plain Duke of Sussex, or have all titles stripped from him, leaving him as Harry Mountbatten-Windsor. I would also be happy to see him vanish from the royal website. If both of those happened I would be very happy, as then Harry Mountbatten-Windsor could live his life with the privacy that he keeps saying he desires, with no public ties to the BRF. He could be on the same level as Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, who have both managed to live without titles.

Catherine Elizabeth (nee. Middleton) was born to Michael and Carole Middleton at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, on 9 January 1982. She was christened when she was six months old at the parish church of St. Andrew’s Bradfield in Berkshire on 20 June.

Catherine studied in nursery school in Amman during her family's time in Jordan. After moving back to the UK, she joined St. Andrew’s School, from where she went on to study in Marlborough College in Wiltshire, studying Chemistry, Biology, and Art at A-level.

The Princess undertook a gap year gap year studying at British Institute in Florence, working with Raleigh International programme in Chile, and crewing on Round the World Challenge boats in the Solent. In 2001, she enrolled in the University of St. Andrew’s where she met William for the first time to study Art history.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn while in Scotland, traveled to the island of Orkney this morning. 

“Shortly after arriving they kicked off the morning by officially opening Orkney's new Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall and met local National Health Service staff.

The new hospital has enabled the repatriation of many health services from the Scottish mainland, back to Orkney, meaning that local residents can get most of their healthcare at home. The couple marvelled at the new building's circular design, which is based on the 5000-year-old Neolithic settlement, Skara Brae, and is keeping with the local landscape in which many historical sites are circles.”
