pairing: steve harrington x fem!reader ( no use of y/n ) summary: steve is bored at work and you're the only one who makes his day better content warnings: nothing
Steve leaned against the counter, the boredom etched across his face as his fingers drummed an aimless rhythm on the countertop. With a loud, exaggerated groan, he let his head fall back dramatically.
“Will you stop it?” Robin snapped from behind him, not even looking up from the stack of DVDs she was sorting through.
“Stop what?” Steve groaned again, his tone deliberately petulant.
“That!” Robin shot back, exasperated. She abandoned her post and grabbed a handful of DVDs, heading toward one of the shelves to restock them.
Steve didn’t answer, but the tapping stopped.
Robin glanced back over her shoulder, smirking knowingly. “You know, she’s probably gonna come by later.”
Steve froze, his fingers hovering mid-tap on the counter. He tried to play it cool, leaning back against the counter as he scoffed. “Who are you talking about?”
“Steve,” Robin warned, her tone dripping with the kind of exasperation that only came from knowing someone far too well.
He looked over his shoulder at her, feigning cluelessness. “What? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Robin rolled her eyes so hard she probably saw the back of her skull. “Oh, come on. Don’t play dumb. We both know who I mean.” She stacked the last DVD on the shelf and crossed her arms, quirking an eyebrow at him.
Steve gave up the charade with a sigh, standing a little straighter. “Did she tell you she was coming by?” he asked, trying and failing to sound nonchalant.
“No,” Robin said, shrugging her shoulders. “But her car just parked outside.”
Steve’s head whipped around so fast he almost gave himself whiplash. Sure enough, your car was pulling into the parking lot, and he couldn’t help the smile that broke across his face.
Robin snorted, shaking her head as she turned back to her work. “You’re pathetic, you know that?” she muttered, though there was a faint smile tugging at her lips.
Outside, you parked your car in front of the video store, glancing at the plastic bag filled with DVDs on your passenger seat. They were the ones Steve had recommended last time, and you’d watched every single one. Truthfully, you weren’t even sure you were interested in half of them—but you’d watched them anyway, just so you’d have something to talk about with him when you came back.
Adjusting the bag in your grip, you stepped out of the car, smoothing out your shirt as you walked toward the door. Through the window, you could see Steve at the counter, already looking in your direction with that trademark grin of his, the one that made your stomach do an annoying little flip.
You pushed open the door, the bell jingling softly as you stepped inside. “Hey,” you greeted, trying to keep your tone casual.
“Hey,” Steve said, his voice a little too eager as he straightened up.
Robin shot him a look over her shoulder, but she didn’t say anything—yet.
You walked up to the counter, setting the bag of DVDs down. “I’m returning these,” you said, holding up the bag. “And, uh… I might need some more recommendations.”
Steve’s grin widened. “Oh, I’ve got a list,” he said, already leaning forward on the counter like you were the most interesting person in the world.
Robin groaned from the back. “You always have a list,” she called out, though her tone was more teasing than annoyed.
You laughed softly, and Steve looked back at Robin, narrowing his eyes. “Do you mind?” he said pointedly. “Some of us are working.”
Robin threw her hands up in mock surrender, retreating to the shelves. “Fine, fine. Just don’t scare her off, Harrington.”
Steve rolled his eyes before turning his attention back to you. “Don’t listen to her,” he said, his voice dropping slightly, his tone more conspiratorial. “She’s just jealous she doesn’t have my impeccable taste in movies.”
You smirked, resting your hands on the counter. “Well, let’s hear it, movie expert. What’s on the list?”
And as Steve began rattling off titles, complete with his over-the-top descriptions and reasons why this one is an absolute must-watch, you couldn’t help but smile. Even if you weren’t totally sold on his recommendations, you knew you’d be back—because it wasn’t really about the movies.

Hello! I've seen you say several times on here that you style yourself after an English country gentleman of, I think, the 1920s and 30s. I'm really interested in this time period and in social and cultural changes English people living between the first and second world war would have gone through (I blame Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies and the movie adaptation Bright Young Things, there's just this air of racing towards catastrophe and laughing about it that I find really compelling). I don't know if this is still in your wheelhouse but if it is could you recommend me some other fiction from or about this time period that deals with similar themes of the decline of the aristocracy and its effect on people coming into adulthood during that time? If not that's totally fine, it might be kind of a stretch to approach somebody interested in fashion. Thanks.
Heya, Anon! I'll leave this up for folks to comment on, as my knowledge is mostly surface level or specific to the media I consume.
My interest in this fashion style came a lot from the book series, All Creatures Great and Small. One of the prevelant themes in the first few books is the transition from traditional farming to automation / better medical practices. The farmers constantly struggle with understanding new testing methodology, seeing tractors and factory milking become competitors, etc. While the books are largely vignettes, you feel this presence in the background. But, it is still largely background.
So, yes. Anyone who has media they'd like to recommend that center moreso the cultural changes around the impact of the aristocracy are welcome to chime in!

what places would Daichi, Suga, Tsukki, and Kiyoomi (separately) go on their first date with their s/o?
Good question!
First Dates
Daichi, Suga, Tsukishima, and Kiyoomi
· · ────────────────── ·𖥸· ────────────────── · · Daichi Sawamura
I think Daichi would be a little more proper, trying to impress you. He'd probably take you to your favorite restaurant and treat you to a nice dinner. You'd most likely feel guilty and try to pay for yourself when you both walked in and you realized how nice it was, but he'd insist on letting him play
"C'mon y/n, do you know how long it took me to get this reservation? The least you could do is let me be the gentleman here."
· · ────────────────── ·𖥸· ────────────────── · ·
Sugawara Koushi
Suga would prefer something more laid back and relaxed for a first date, like a movie night and ordering takeout, unless you recommended otherwise. He most likely prefers to be able to get to know you in a more comfortable setting, than somewhere busy.
"Is Chinese okay with you? I'm gonna order some food while you pick a movie."
· · ────────────────── ·𖥸· ────────────────── · ·
Tsukishima Kei
Tsukishima probably wouldn't want to pick where the first date is because he knows his ideas are lame. He would recommend something like a museum or a library where you guys could study together and go over material.
"Oh wait a second, I wanna check out their dinosaur exhibit real quick."
· · ────────────────── ·𖥸· ────────────────── · ·
Kiyoomi Sakusa
I imagine Kiyoomi would take you some place where you guys could be outside, like to the park or a cafe with outdoor seating. He'd like to be able to get some fresh air while you guys talk, and there would be some good conversation starters at the park. If it was too cold or hot for those, I could see him choosing a movie theater date, allowing you to choose the movie, and subsequently making fun of you afterwards if it sucked.
"Dude, that movie sucked, you couldn't have chosen a better one?"

Headcanon #302
There’s a universe in which Sonic the hedgehog is a skilled actor with a well-earned reputation for doing all his own stunts. He bit off more than he could chew in a high-risk action movie once and got injured. Sonic insisted the director should hire a good friend of his, Shadow, as his stunt double. They’d been told countless times that they looked alike and, as much as Sonic hated to admit it, Shadow equaled him in boldness and athleticism. Once Shadow showed the director what he was made of and learned to match Sonic’s running style, he was hired.
Shadow wasn’t the only friend of Sonic’s who was on set. Amy Rose, a talented up-and-coming actress, played the main love interest. She and Sonic were amicable exes, so although the love scenes were a little awkward, filming was fun and easy.
Much to the director’s frustration, Amy was just as reckless as Sonic; she’d looked up to him as a young actress and still emulated a lot of his tendencies. On top of that, she had a very distinctive fur color, and she was strong enough to do stunts that her doubles couldn’t. Before long, the director’s blood pressure was through the roof.
The most dangerous scene was in a subway, with cast members fighting inside and on top of moving trains and leaping onto station platforms. The villain’s double had gotten his foot stuck in an emergency exit door on the back of a train car. Amy jumped in to help, but in the process of wrenching it open, she lost her footing and fell onto the tracks. She was an inch away from getting hit by a train when Shadow dove in, pulling her into an indent in the wall with him.
Sonic was close enough to see their faces. By the time Shadow was asking Amy if she was alright, she was smitten.
The scene was reworked, but that wasn’t the only thing that had changed. Sonic knew what Amy looked like when she was in love, and he knew just as well that Shadow needed someone like her in his life.
For the remainder of filming, Sonic sat out for stunts whenever he felt he could get away with it, claiming he just wasn’t feeling up to it yet to make sure the two of them had as much time together as possible. By the time the movie hit theaters, half of the tabloids were circulating a rumor that a certain actress had a new boyfriend.
The other half fell for the body double gimmick and thought she’d gotten back together with her ex.
Sonic’s reputation as a wild man who did all his own stunts took a hit after that, but he felt it was worth it to see his friends happy together.
#shadamy#sonic the hedgehog#amy rose#shadow the hedgehog#hc#Everyone Ships Shadamy#not related to any of the sonic movies btw#i still haven't seen the third one#this also mirrors the hiring of david humphrey for sa2#ryan drummond was already voicing sonic and the director asked if he'd like to play shadow as well#ryan suggested his buddy david humphrey could do a better job#love that about ryan. could've had two huge roles but recommended one to a friend because he knew how great of a job he would do#and he was right!

Begging y’all to watch Spirited for Ryan Reynolds being a fucked up little rage-marketing Scrooge hyping up the “war on Christmas” (much to the chagrin of the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell)) and to stay for the writing and good vibes and jams
It’s hard to make a good movie musical (and hard to make a good Christmas movie at that) and I think this one is a nice holiday treat
#this is like one of my top movie musicals I am not kidding it’s that good#the composers are the ones for The Greatest Showman and DEH and they FINALLY did a black comedy to let their snarky writing shine#not only do I consider it their best soundtrack it’s just good and fresh and charming???#full disclosure I was straight up not a fan of theirs until this movie sold me#octavia Spencer is there too if you were wondering if there could BE any more charm#it’s fun!!!#it feels like they learned from DEH’s takes on social media and made them better??#also the acting. hilarious. I could watch Ferrell and Reynolds riff off each other all day#I just. AGHHHH#musicals#spirited#spirited 2022#movie recommendation#Youtube

Just finished "mother, may I?"
What an EXCELLENT film!
It was my kind of movie... loved the story, loved the mystery, loved the location, and the house.
This is a true psychological thriller/horror.
#mother may I#kyle gallner#holland roden#I love a slow burn movie#I love it when open endings are done right#Totally would recommend#more of a thriller than a horror#could have been better if the lead actress was different however she did a good job with some scenes#original story#movies#go watch this movie

near dark (1987) but make it asoue
@carnivorous-horses-lover first of all, thank you for enabling me
Secondly, imagine, if you will, a small-town young man who works at his stepfather's farm. The young man's name is Fernald, and his life is pretty miserable - his attempt at an acting career in the City failed, forcing him to return to his hometown, and now he's stuck in a routine he doesn't enjoy. His relationship with his stepfather Widdershins isn't great - in part, probably, because his stepfather is a pretty miserable man too, a former sea captain now bound to live on land after sustaining injuries that made him unfit for life at sea. Nearly the only bright spot for Fernald is his teenage sister, Fiona - she's talented and smart, and surely won't become a failure like him.
One evening, as Fernald is getting drunk at the bar after a particularly angry row with his stepfather, he meets a cute and charming person called Orlando (I think this name would fit in fine in this AU - iirc, Sunny refers to the Henchperson like that at some point either in the books or in the series, and Virginia Woolf's Orlando is able to live for centuries without growing old). They hit it off right away, and damn, this might be the drink talking, but Fernald feels like he's falling in love. At the end of the night, just before sunrise, as Orlando is about to leave, he kisses them.
And then Orlando bites him. Bites him and sucks his blood.
After that, Orlando runs away without explanation, so at first, Fernald doesn't understand what has happened to him. But then the rising sun starts burning his flesh. As he's trying to hide in the shade, an RV drives up, and Orlando pulls him in. Inside, he finds a group of people all screaming at Orlando that they should kill Fernald, but then Orlando tells them that they've already turned him, and, after some discussion, the strangers inform him that they'll let him live - for now. Fernald learns that his new acquaintances are a band of vampires who roam the Land of Districts under the guise of a travelling acting troupe. The band is led by Count Olaf, a man claiming to have been an 18th century nobleman. Apart from him and Orlando, there's Olaf's girlfriend Esme, a Bald Man, two White-Faced Women, and Carmelita, a tween girl recently turned by Esme when the latter decided she wanted a daughter. They travel from town to town, kill people to feed, and occasionally steal a new vehicle and burn the old one to cover up their tracks.
The Count and the others tell Fernald that they're going to give him a probational period of sorts - he gets a week to learn to hunt, and if he doesn't, they're going to get rid of him. The problem is, Fernald can't make himself kill people. His thirst is strong and he can feel his organism starting to reject human food, but he cannot overcome his fear and disgust. Orlando helps him by hunting for him and feeding him their blood after they have fed themselves, but they tell him this cannot go on, and Fernald knows that eventually he has either to become a murderer or be murdered. In the Village of Fowl Devotees, where the vampires attack a bar, he fails to kill a local handyman and lets him escape. Everyone but Orlando is furious and wants to kill him, but then the police arrive, and Fernald risks his life to help the rest of the group escape. This pacifies the vampires, and they decide to give him more time to adjust.
Meanwhile, Widdershins and Fiona follow the trail of the vampires' rampage from town to town, hoping to catch up with Fernald and see if he can still be saved. They meet the handyman, Hector, who has seen which direction the vampires drove off to. After driving all day, they decide to stay at a motel, not knowing that Olaf's troupe is also staying there. At some point, while Widdershins isn't present, Fiona goes out of their room and runs into Carmelita. They strike a conversation, and Carmelita, happy to finally have someone her age to talk to, invites Fiona to their room. When Fiona sees her brother, she is overjoyed, but he immediately gets worried and tells her to leave. It is, however, too late: Carmelita wants a friend, and even though Olaf hates the idea, Esme is still fond enough of her toy - pardon, her child - to indulge her whims.
Luckily, Widdershins arrives and threatens the vampires with a gun. A scuffle ensures, and the whole family, including Fernald, manages to escape. For some reason, Widdershins is sure that a blood transfusion might help Fernald revert to human state. They try it, and it works.
The family returns home and wards the house against vampires ("but Stepfather, how do you even know all these things?" - "don't worry about it"), yet it turns out they've been followed. At night, Orlando comes and persuades Fernald to go out and talk to them. They try to convince Fernald to let them bite him again and go back with them, but eventually, unable to lie anymore, they break down and reveal that the other vampires made them distract him. Turns out that while they were talking, Olaf's troupe somehow broke through the protection of the house. Fernald discovers that his stepfather is grievously wounded and his sister is gone. Widdershins tells him that the vampires took Fiona away and urges Fernald to follow them. Fernald calls the ambulance for his stepfather and leaves to chase the troupe, who have by then picked up Orlando and driven away. He is attacked by the Bald Man and the White-Faced Women, but manages to defeat them.
Orlando, who is genuinely in love with Fernald, decides to risk incurring Olaf and Esme's wrath and help Fiona escape. Together they break out of the car and run towards Fernald. The sun is rising, and Orlando has to cover themselves with a jacket, because the sun keeps burning them. Furious Olaf and Esme, with Carmelita in the backseat, pursue them and attempt to run them over with their car. Fernald manages to push Fiona and Orlando away, but the car crashes into him, and he passes out.
He regains consciousness in the same small - and, honestly, shady-looking - hospital where his blood transfusion was performed. He is aching all over, and one of his hands has been amputated, but he's alive. Fiona is there, and so is his father, bruised but still standing - and Orlando, who has also been cured by a blood transfusion. Another person present, strangely, is the handyman from the Village of Fowl Devotees. He tells them that the car with the vampires exploded in the crash, but no human remains were found when the fire was extinguished. Perhaps they burned to ashes completely. Perhaps not.
Okay, says Fernald, what the hell. Why are you here? How did Stepfather know that the blood transfusions would help? What kind of hospital is this?
Widdershins and Hector share an awkward glance.
There used to be an... organization some years ago, they tell him. An organization created to battle supernatural threats. It was founded long ago by people privy to the secrets of the world. But it has been dying out for decades, and their generation was the last. Too many died, too many quit out of fear (Hector looks away, embarrassed), too many were seduced by the occult and joined the other side. But the few still remain - the ones who don't seek out the enemy actively, but still remember how to fight against it.
They call themselves volunteers.
And it seems no one can hide from what one is forever.
#the ending is kinda... nothing of that sort happens in the movie but i wanted this to have its own version of vfd#and it could probably be integrated more smoothly but i can't think of anything better at the moment#anyway! near dark! a good vampire road movie. highly recommend#asoue#a series of unfortunate events#fernald widdershins#captain widdershins#fiona widdershins#hector#henchperson of indeterminate gender#count olaf#esme squalor#carmelita spats#gella talks snicketverse#talk talk talk#snicketverse

Saw your tags and omg HARD AGREE. Dragon Cry is SO bad nfkanmdsa
ME AND YOU SHAKING HANDS
Actually yes thanks for giving me the excuse to rant. Hold on. I'm typing furiously rn.
-Okay first of all they gave us the most ridiculously confusing plot I've ever seen. The twist with Sonya being Animus was kinda cool but they never really. Explained why she had a bond with him? She mentioned he used to be kindhearted at some point but we never see that literally ever at any point in the movie?
-The storyline is so all over the place it's a HOT mess. Especially the scene right after Natsu escapes the weird bird cage thing he runs off to find the others and suddenly they're all there? For some reason? Where did they come from. Why didn't they have a little reuniting scene. I literally rewound the movie to make sure I didn't accidentally skip a scene but nope they just made the most awkward cut/story progression in history I guess!!!
-The fanservice was so. SO bad. Like yeah the majority of the time I can at least tolerate it but this time it just made me extremely uncomfortable. Why are Erza and Lucy's boobs SO fucking large. Why did they have to make Lucy dance in like two strips of cloth. I thought I woke up in an alternate universe where Fairy Tail was a hentai. I genuinely wanted to vomit lmao
-The animation style really threw me off like I can tell it was either animated by a different studio or they wanted to try a different art style for the movie? But it just felt wrong and the proportions and faces were weird and. Yeah idk.
-What was up with the Three Stars?? Iirc we never got to learn their names or what their motivations were they were literally just. There. And they were built up to be these super powerful wizards only to get their asses kicked by FT like two scenes later. I get that being a movie obviously the fights had to be shortened but they literally did the same thing in Phoenix Priestess but WAY better. They really were like yeah uh we need some enemies for Team Natsu to fight let's just go with these guys and not give them any personality or backstory or motivations. (Except for the doll dad he was okay I guess)
-WHY WAS LEVY THERE. LITERALLY. ACTUALLY. She literally did nothing she served NO purpose in the movie she was just there?? Did they just want to shove in as many cameos as possible??? I know generally Levy isn't much of a fighter which is fine, I was kinda expecting them to do a Gajevy scene where Gajeel rescues her from some soldiers or smth which would have been fine but they didn't even do that. She literally just stood there and had like 2 voice lines. GO GIRL GIVE US NOTHING
-SPEAKING OF CAMEOS this is more personal beef than anything but man WHYYY wasn't Loke in the movie,, my boy my beloved my stupid idiot lion I'm so mad he wasn't even onscreen for like, 5 seconds
-I'm sorry but Juvia was so unhinged this movie her possessive/stalker behavior over Gray was actually super fucking creepy lmao
-What did they do to Happy. What the FUCK did they do to Happy
THEY MASSACRED MY BOY. LOOK AT HIM. HE'S GOT ANXIETY
-ALSO the scene where Happy and Lucy were crying over Natsu and we got tons of flashbacks from his POV of people who are important to him? WHY THE FUCK WASN'T HAPPY THERE?? They literally showed everyone from Fairy Tail precious to Natsu except Happy and I'm just sitting here like. HELLO?? You are SO wrong for that
-I will say I DID enjoy the little Nalu teasers we got especially the scene where Natsu showed Lucy the stars 🤧
But yeah I was here for this and this only:
The Nalu + Happy family bonding moments made it OKAY
Anyway sorry rant over. Dragon Cry bad. Natsu's brief moment of looking half dragon was a super sexy character design choice but the buildup is not worth it imo
#God damn it I just *clenches fists* hate Fairy Tail. That's a lie I love Fairy Tail.#Which is why I'm so mad this movie did it dirty#Shima answers questions#Phoenix Priestess was so good especially in comparison to this......#Ughhh this movie could have been FANTASTIC if they'd actually written it better#Anyway it wasn't AWFUL it was standard as far as anime films go. But I definitely wouldn't recommend#And I'm definitely not going to watch it a second time lmao#Long post#SORRY IDK WHAT TO TAG THIS. ASK TO TAG. I don't want to put my negative ramblings in the tags#Negative#I GUESS?? IDK#Fairy Tail#FT#Nalu#Fairy Tail Dragon Cry

Pls don't ask me to recommend a season to watch of a long-running TV program. My ass is just going to say "I liked season 1 episode 1. It really grabbed me and made me want to see more."
#sorry#even if I know that a show will get way better down the line and watching it in order is not a requirement to enjoy it#I will still say 'no! you gotta start from the beginning!! It hits different that way'#I think this also explains why I have little patience for shows where ppl are like 'nonono it gets better by season 3 you gotta believe me'#like ok but the time I could be spending waiting for it to get better I could use watching a movie#or a show that is already good when you start it#idk I am fickle as fuck#top ten ppl you don't want to hear the recommendations from#squack

they werent lying that knuckles series barely has knuckles in it
#i pirated that shit Btw just so we're clear. also gonna talk about it a little bit in the tags#nothing too spoilery but also might not wanna read if you want to go in knowing absolutely nothing? idk#anyway he WAS a main character still he was present for a decent amount of the first couple episodes#but the amount of screentime he gets just starts dropping after that . hes barely there at all in the second half ???#and it feels like theres a lot of scenes mostly focusing on wade and his problems and not near as many for knuckles and his whole deal#overall it feels more like a wade show with knuckles in it than a knuckles show with wade in it. which sucks#and human characters having plot relevance isnt the problem here i dont mind human characters at all i think they can be really fun#its the fact that the human characters are taking over the story and spotlight when the show is called knuckles#and all the marketing makes it look like knuckles is the main focus#and i also would have preferred if they just went with a differnet character to be knuckles' human friend#because i dont particulraly care about wade. and the knuckles (and sonic and tails) i know would not be friends with cops </3#well at least the story wasnt knuckles training wade to be a better cop like a lot of people were expecting but thats like.the bare minimum#also aside from the issues relating to knuckles' screentime (or lack of screentime) i thought the ending was unsatisfying#regardless of all that though there WERE some parts i enjoyed or found kind of funny or whatever. because knuckles so cutesy as always#knuckles being a cute little guy is the most important part of the show actually#and i liked the parts with sonic tails and maddie even if they were only there for like 5 minutes#(i really wish those three had gotten more screentime. i feel like they could have easily worked in at least one more scene with them)#and its a minor thing but the opening sequence is cute. was honestly expecting just a title card or something#overall the show is just . kind of okay i guess. not the worst thing ive ever seen but still disappointing ? idk how to explain..#my expectations also werent very high in the first place#so maybe im being a bit more generous than i would have been otherwise. idk#and i definitely would not recommend this to anyone who already dislikes the sonic movies . youll probably hate this more#like people who thought the human characters got too much screentime in the second movie would lose their minds if they saw this

Just got back from seeing Water For Elephants on Broadway (absolutely fantastic, instant new favorite) and I have a lot of thoughts but the loudest and most chaotic one is The toxic polycule of Jacob, Marlena, and August.
#like#August is a terrible terrible person#but you can’t tell me he’s not at least a little bit gay#it’s also because they could have done a better job developing Jacob and August’s relationship in the first act of they were supposed to be#such close friends but still#also his name is august that’s a gay ass name (shoutout to my friend named august who very gay so that’s my source on that)#but also I understand that there wasn’t really that much time in the first act for it so 🤷#but still toxic polycule funny#anyway if you can go see water for elephants it’s absolutely amazing#don’t come at me if this sounds absolutely insane from the perspective of the book or the movie I haven’t read/seen either this is just abt#the musical which is fantastic and I love it#there does not appear to be a full version on YouTube yet which makes sense cause it just opened a few months ago but when there is if you#very understandably can’t go see it I high recommend because just as a work of theater it is absolutely incredible#water for elephants#w4e#water for elephants musical#the heir speaks

Sounds like fun for when you do find a 'gem' of a trash film. Do you keep names of any of the gems you do find?
Also for no evil reason or so, do you by chance like gifts?
-✨ Anon (Sparkles Anon)
Nah, not really. I used to have a list, but it got tossed out when I moved apartments I guess.
We probably still have them in the back, though. It's extremely rare that someone comes in asking for something that isn't just on display already.
A lot of them were foreign films, so some of them are probably a lot better than I'm giving them credit for. Visuals are important, but the writing is what I enjoy most in a good movie. If the movie has subtitles, which most don't, then usually they're really off, from what some of the people who HAVE actually rented them tell me. Stuff like that can really color your interpretation or general enjoyment of the media, depending on if it's just clunkily translated or outright altered.
Otherwise, there are some really terrible horror flicks I like to put on- those would be easier to name, and probably more recent, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Maybe I can come back to you on that.
I like the ones that are either just really, unforgivably bad, ones with really horrible special effects for the gore, and ones that are just kinda brutal, admittedly. I like to see a good rampage, now and again.
As for gifts...
I mean, I'm alright with them. It's a bit disconcerting when you mention them with the word "evil" in the same sentence, though. So you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little wary of that...
#I can really appreciate a good slasher when I'm especially pissed off#but otherwise there are some really dramatic action type films out there that are suitably flashy for an otherwise dull shift#pine.txt#asks#anon#✨️ anon#rp#kim pine#spto#spvtw#scott pilgrim comic#sp comic#(ooc: i did try to go find some films i think she would watch but i am. feeling ravenous at the moment and keep getting distracted--)#(ooc: flash forward some years and I think Kim would be a Dead Meat fan btw. she'd use the channel to find horror films to watch)#(ooc: thats where i was trying to look to find a suitable horror movie for her to name but again... ravenous)#(ooc: and I am not personally super well acquainted with foreign films. like I think recently i have watched one Very Gay french film +)#(ooc: but that's about it. I would like to watch more i just get headaches a lot so having to rely on subtitles doesn't really work for me)#(ooc: if i brushed up on it i could maybe try watching some german films? but i don't know any that have been recommended to me recently.)#(ooc: I'm also generally better at translating from text than by ear honestly)#spvtwtg

When ppl say that there is no stories about friendship I can't help but wonder what do they mean? There are lots and lots cartoons for kids and teens about well, friendship! Its the main point of almost all stories there. I don't like watching movies so I dunno if there are a lot of movies about friendship nowadays but I have watched old films about it. Like yeah it will always have some romance too for main characters or for the background characters bc if your story has like 10+ adult ppl most of them would look for relationship for the sake of building a family or sex. But also if you can excuse how the women are drawn you can just read/watch one piece and like NOBODY has any romance or sex there even though there are like billions of adult pirates.
#personal#if you want to recommend me something nice to watch comment it or drop me a message#but for the love of everything good pls dont recommend me school drama like I cant watch it anymore#i would prefer to watch more media about adults rn#I can make some exceptions like Hanako kun was really creepy like it looks like rom com for the teens in school but its actually horror#or Utena I started watching it and its crazy at the 1st episode already I want to learn more#but yeah I would like books or movies or tv shows about adults#I would like to watch something like Friends but good#like do u get what I mean? if it was Friends but it was actually really good and less THAT and like more GOOD#I really loved this tv show when I was learning English tho it was perfect for it but like they did so many bad choices for this story#i hate every story about Rachel's love life like its unbearable at this point you should just stop dating and forget about it and live#also they gradually made Ross into the most vile and evil man that could possibly exist and everyone was okay with it bc he is Monika's bro#they didn't need to make him into a monster asshole jerk like he could be just a nerd guy who is clumsy it would be alright#also they should have never made any story lines about Rachel and Ross like they are the worst couple that has ever existed on the tv#its the new level of abysmal I dream about how it would be cool if they have never had any relationship at all#this story would be like 999% better IMMEDIATELY but oh well

one in a million when i watch smthing in the horror genre and don't end up disappointed to/and/or pissed off about it so like "also yeah i liked it. ooo" is like relative to that an off the charts rave review of media of the millennium. also i did think about mh a lot along the way so would recommend its affect/effect if you like mh's horror too
#i didn't realize at first that's the director/creator tim's qrting. thought a rando went ''i love mh'' & he went ''& i love smthing else''#saw this a few weeks ago while also like writing or drawing or smthing like oh good plot's beside the point? b/c i'm splitting this focus#even checking in w/recaps was both like oh ok i missed that / didn't realize xyz could be a Thread or something but each of the like three#or four recaps i went over Also saw points differently in terms of even like; who was there or said what lmfao. or noting sm detail at all.#i went ''oh worm?'' at some early shot that may or may not have even gone mentioned by any of them. depending lol. doesn't matter#anyways we don't have time for tags media analysis except that i'll count this as: once again horror for children wins. even tho it's...#not rated? well anyways you know. probably generally not advisable for children as a direct audience lmao. however#like yes as per the premise as a child we've all experienced this [the media] anyways. perturbing summons dreams we've all had em#anyhow fr i'd even struggle to think of horror movies i'd say i mostly liked / would or did rewatch but still wasn't like. i disliked major#elements / choices to the point of being pissed off abt it. so many movies i can't be bothered to watch b/c i already know specifics like#i don't like or respect any of you people. or choices or elements or premises or executions or effects. not even interested fr like lord...#but often what has better odds are mediums that Aren't straightforwardly tv / film. like i'd compare mh to a series of several movies and#that's also imo largely a more apt categorization than saying it's an ARG or smthing but anyways like i'd recommend it to someone sure....#rare to be like yeah a movie was enjoyable. & if you already liked mh then that's a useful reference point here#which like usually i'd use mh as a categorical tag but idk i guess actually it's actively popular nowadays lmfao i really don't know#posting is already exhausting like whew but this one's for whosoever happens to follow me i guess#which is possible? nonzero ppl arrived for mh but unlikely lmfao. but also ppl see it on their own anyways coincidentally.#and you never know who observes the posts like hell yeah for an anon enjoying niche akd theatreposting who is to me ambiently out there#really odd the other day seeing an mh reblog like ''??? huh. i made that eons ago; then'' & people in the tags talking abt some repost like#on the one hand that Original Source post is two layers of deactivated blogs so a repost could be archival. but if they don't say as much#i.e. that it's even from a different source then that's not exactly it then is it. but also that even finding an original document For OP#is like. oh yeah that's me actually. but then knowing & technically saying as much doesn't / didn't actually affect me as that op lol#just kind of archival on both ends then. vs someone else in the tags saying they saw it on fb 9 yrs ago? definitely didn't post it there#my true op experience: keeping it nicheposting & just kind of saying sm shit & maybe some people are out there nodding thoughtfully#oh also in case fyi. that's tim as in actor playing [also tim] in mh. & did some writing for mh & other such behind the scenes efforts also#every time i look at the text in this post i notice a new typo of mine. get it tgoether (organic typo there. so; lol)

random take but: I feel like growing up on Les Miserables braced me for sometimes terrible people get away with shit actually & people who've suffered and deserve better don't get what we wish for them endings better than the average consumer of modern media...?
aka my take on Kaleidoscope: a show with a lot of Thénardiers
#by growing up on Les Mis i mean oc the musical-to-the-brick-to-various-other-adaptations-to-the-2012-movie-got-me-active-on-Tumblr pipeline#thank you pbs for indoctrinating me as a child#this post brought to you by:#i recently finished kaleidoscope and while the ending didn't deliver 100% I'm startled reviews are as bad as they are#i would still recommend it#and i do still think there's other elements to criticize#but i do wonder how much of the backlash is fates of characters that people wanted better/worse for#kaleidoscope spoilers#kaleidoscope netflix#kaleidoscope#les mis#you could absolutely write an essay comparing and contrasting giancarlo esposito's character with jean valjean#just saying#says the part of my mind that still lives in english classes of yore#i mean thenardiers in the most sweeping 'turned out to be nastier than you initially seemed and you're getting away with in the end!" sense
