Yesterday I had my talk through about the assignment brief, and then got together with the Droog group for the first time. We had a look at each other's designs, and discussed ideas with Fiona and the design assistant.

When looking at my kilt, I had found pictures of kilts that had coloured inserts in the pleats, and brought that forward as an idea to bring a pop of colour to the costume. Fiona and the Droog group thought it was a good idea, and I shall try to make samples over the weekend to show them again on Monday/Tuesday.

Later in the day we as a group decided that we'd discuss the colour red together, as red is in all our costumes. Fiona had said she wanted the red to be different hues, hence why we are going to look at red together (to ensure we get the same type of red).

The rest of the group also proposed the idea of having the coloured pleats only on one side of the kilt, as their designs all had asymmetric colouring on it. I brought the idea to Fiona and she liked the idea. I will add this to the samples to try make over the weekend so we can see how it works.

This is my final make for a show at Bruford, and was for the production 'Table' that was performed at Stratford Circus. It was for the character of Margaret and was set in the time periods of 1918, 1922 and 1933. I made the blouse and the jacket and skirt suit. I found this project extremely challenging but also very rewarding once I'd seen it on stage. I learnt a lot during the construction process and am happy with how it turned out.
