taking measurements I. 🧵 Been manhandled into reading Tokyo Revengers, uh huh. It has quite a lot of issues but the characters are lovely (and have great hairstyles), so here you go. Also, reading manga and drawing fan arts is so fun, I missed it.

by the way, if anybody following me is interested in cosplay, making prop replicas, sewing their own clothes etc then you should definitely check out this Humble Bundle of how-to-cosplay books
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it has basically everything a cosplayer (or somebody adjacent to costuming) might want, and then some -- i'm talking sewing, fitting, making foam armours, wig styling, smocking, tailoring, etc etc etc there's seriously loads of different books, and it's at a pay-what-you-want rate, PLUS it helps to support myself & charity (you can even choose where your money goes)
Tumblr media
the bundle is only on sale until the 18th of May 2023 so get it while you can & signal boost so other cosplayers & costumers can see!!!

KIM KITSURAGI - "Yes. And this 'mega-binoclard' knows how to sew a lapel and center a back vent." The lieutenant raises one eyebrow at you.
Is there a DE fic out there in which Kim tailors Harry's uniform? I'm imagining scenes of Kim carefully sliding his measuring tape along Harry's broad shoulders, looping it around Harry's neck—his fingers pinching it taut just under his adam's apple as Harry gulps and looks straight ahead, avoiding meeting Kim’s eyes, and then wrapping it snugly around Harry's biceps. Kim kneeling to slide the tape up the inside of Harry's leg—from his ankles to his thighs to his crotch to measure his inseam. I want Harry to stand there sweating while the Furies completely lose it. Agonizing sexual tension with a side dish of “this is totally normal and we are being totally normal about it.” YEARNING. SLOW BURN. Please.

[Video description: an unfinished white garment with a folded-over hem. Someone repeatedly tries to unfold the hem and lay it flat, and the hem springs back to the folded shape. No audio. End ID.]
I finished a brand new-to-me technique: pad stitching! And it worked!! I hand-sewed the canvas to the fashion fabric while holding a curve in both, and the curve was permanently set into the fabrics.
The goal for this garment was to create a permanently flipped-up hem for a jacket. Pad stitching is usually used on lapels, to keep suit collars smoothly and permanently folded back. However, in jackets, the lapels usually still obey gravity and sit flat. I have never seen an example of pad stitching doing what I wanted it to do - defy gravity and make the fabric "float"!
Until I fully assemble the jacket, I still won't actually know if I succeeded in that or not. However, the strength of the flip in this little video is really encouraging and I'm optimistic it will work!
