honestly im just in a complaining mood but im gonna make this it's own stand-alone post. the current state of youtube is really really disheartening. it's insane to me that we've entered an era where it's actually incredibly normal for video-making to be people's Real Actual Jobs, yet the youtube algorithm is still not very understood and changes on a whim with little to no warning. it's so goddamn stupid for people to have to edit certain ways, or title their videos in certain ways, or just create ugly-ass thumbnails with red circles and shitty clickbait graphics, JUST to get the algorithm to pay enough attention and push their shit. it's been like this for years, but you'd think in a post-2020 shutdown world they'd find ways to take it seriously, ESPECIALLY considering how heavy of a boost their platform got during that era. it's sad to see this taken as "just one of those #influencer things" and not something that could be changed for the better, and currently isnt being changed by a major multi-billion dollar corperation. because at the end of the day, youtube CAN change their algorithm. they have in the past, and the final "major change" they made was the push to make it more advertiser/brand friendly. remember when people couldn't swear before the first minute of the video? remember how that was actually a community-discovered function through youtube mature-content-labeling thousands of people's videos and limiting their income they relied on to live? they were told first 10-20 seconds, and that number varied SO heavily they ended up running with a full minute into the video. not to mention how you can't get most strikes appealed through regular functions, but instead have to BEG youtube publically on twitter and use your clout to shame them. people have to bend over backwards and pray to the algorithm gods if they want to be happy making what they love, and if they don't? their videos won't be seen. they CAN make content without caring about the algorithm, but it's discouraged every step of the way. and even people who appease the algorithm and try their very best to lick the corporate boot will REGULARLY have their income COMPLETELY RANDOMLY struck, and their livelihoods put on the line, all because of youtubes shitty copyright system and even worse demonetization system. all im saying is it's crazy my phone will autocorrect it to their brand name of YouTube, and they have such a focus on keeping advertisers and ad-revenue, but most youtubers have to use shitty clickbait circles and arrows while taking sponsorship deals every video to stay afloat "living the dream."

Canon Doai:

I made it that eastridge was stuck stagnant in time due to being cut off from the world in the sitcom au mostly as a way to explane why Leon is so advanced compaired to Alex. But since Alex is dead in canon, the canon crossover does not have this excuse, so Leon shows up in a more modern Eastridge.

Leon isn't there for an assigned mission. He has had nothing to do for a long time. After finding an old photo album he decided to find out what happened to Alex, who whent missing.

Leon eventually gets the tapes. In a situation where this is an actual game the tapes would be found over time. slowly revealing what happened to Alex.

Unfortunately since DOAI isn't finished i dont know how to continue this spacific version of the crossover. This deffinately would be a more psychological horror game tho. Leon facing hallucinations and memories.

Sitcom Au (i thought about this one the most so get ready):

Eastridge is cut off from the rest of the world as a way to contain the veldigun issue. Stagnant in technology and knowledge.

The Lankmann foundation works with the Umbrella corperation. Veldiguns were accidentally created through the mix of Las Plagas and Mold. The two companies want to harness that power. (Im not very up to date on the Veldigun lore. But i like the idea of them being unholy mixes of parasitic aliens and hive mind particles)

Leon, Chris Redfeild, and Ashley (who joined the agency after graduating from college) are sent on a mission to help the Lankmann foundation (their connection to umbrella is not known). Leon was told both his cousins were eaten by the eastridge demon and is seeking revenge.

Leon and Ashley do somehow eventually catch Clyde. But before Leon can kill it Alex saves it. They slap the shit out of Leon with a plant of wood or bat or something, and gets in to a suffle with Ashley (i imagine Ashley and Alex are decently matched, Ashley is only a bit better. Alex is hard to fight tho because they are untrained and unpredictable). Leon eventually recovers and breaks Ashley and Alex up. Alex finally gets to explane everything

Leon joins the crew, Ashley is inbetween, and Chris believes Leon is under their control or something.

Specimen 03 (Veldigun timeline):

Starts the same as the sitcom au.

Leon begins experiencing hallucinations. Hallucinations include Alex yelling down the hall, whispering in his ear, walking out of the corner of his eye, disappearing behind doors, tapping his shoulder. Alex says things like, "help me," "follow me," "over here," "come find me," "I'm here."

Leon eventually follows the hallucinations (very against Chris and Ashley's wishes.) And discovers Veldigun Alex locked up.

Leon learns the truth and begins working against the foundation.

Idk how to continue from there.

This is gonna be a mish mash of cultures and ideas so bare with me. In eastern Europe (specificly slavic countrys) the vampire was an almost ghostly spirit rather than our common undead sexy friend. They were trixters to some extent, spread disease but in the way rats do rather than the specific bite we know. They also didn't consume blood. So this is the technical truth aspect of this idk 'theory' (but more headcannon I suppose). From this, I headcannon, it evolved into two specific paths: the vampire as we know and the seer. Both evolved to revolve around blood since blood is commonly seen as a holder of the human spirit and life force making it a very powerful energy source. Vampires evolved specifically as almost undead creatures, focusing on that ghostly aspect and almost making the souls haunt the dead body in such a way that it becomes 'imortal'. The sucking of blood is to create a constant source of energy to power the 'possession' and inturn their existence- like food for us. The 'infectious bite' then becomes a combination of corpse germs and supernatual infliction that continues to create vampires- something their ancestor obviously did not have due to the lack of biting and corperal form. on the otherhand, seers found their powersource in blood by creating their own. Specifically in having a functioning human body. The living body acts as a conduit for the supernatural power wich is displayed by divination and prophecy, what which ghosts being conected to the past and human life being seen as something of the future. This ghostly ancestor also explains why Ethan can see ghosts when touching their objects, he's channeling that energy. Of course if having a living body was such an easy way to have blood the vampire would have done it too, the problem with using your own body as a conduit continuously is that it starts to degrade over time either with natural circumstance like being old as shit and dying, or your body contracting ilnesses. It's has it's ups and downs. anyway the idea of a common ancestor is so intresting to me, especially since in the few mythologys I research prophecy and disease are strangely commonly linked. And I mean blood has ALWAYS been apart of seeing the future, think of literally any form of animal sacrifice amongst religions. Or how in some underworld storys the souls must consume the blood of a sacrifice (not necessarily human!) to be able to comunicate.

Alright Im back and Im tired of pretending,

From where I stand, as someone who likes exploring the narrative and especially the characters of a narrative We're lalaloopsy is more interesting to watch than the original series. And as someone whos passionate about design Lalaloopsy Girls was a fun redesign of the franchise.

I realized part of why I dropped the series and took a long break is because of the fandom. The hostility towards anything that tries to be different made me feel like I was walking on eggshells at times. And while I was vocally a fan of some of the media I always worried that being open about enjoying it would cause my peers and followers to turn on me.

People are so quick to let nostalgia talk and convince them that the original was the best version it could be, and I'm tired of just nodding along and saying things I dont mean about what I like to fit in.

The reboots do try to make an effort to improve upon what exists and I feel like if We're Lalaloopsy was given more time it would have gotten its footing. I feel like that need to cling to the past nostolgia blinds people. Not every reboot is going to be perfect but I'm tired of people shooting them down because its different.

IT SHOULD BE DIFFERENT. Churn out the same thing over and over again and it'll get stale. I had more fun watching that stupid movie about them in highschool than any of the originals and I'm heart broken it didnt make it further. I'm Tired of pretending I think lalaloopsy girls is ugly when its literally my favorite peice of Lalaloopsy media.

It doesn't have to be your cup of tea. No one is obligated to like anything. But in the same vein I ended up feelling obligated to hate something because everyone else did.

I'm tired of feeling like people will devalue my opinions or consider me a fake fan of the series for acknowledging what the reboots do well.

I stopped working on my own reboot because of it. I felt like no matter what I did it wouldnt be going enough for the community. That I'd rock the boat too much with my ideas. That by not sticking to the original I was devaluing the series.

Its easy to forget that real people were behind the reboots with likely the same passion as us bloggers. And that they were at the mercy of MGA. They tried their best and had the plug pulled by a corperation before they really got to tell their story.

I'm coming back, I'm not going to pretend anymore. I'm doing this because I am passionate about the series and want to see it evolve.

The reboots were clumsy sure, but they were charming. Nothing is intrinsically bad because its trying to be different.

I'm not scared of Ai personally, if you take a look at art history, you'll see that:

- In the beginning: prehistory to pre-renaissance: art was used to express themselves and their ideals.

- then when art started to get political: renaissance - to now: or "owned" by someone, or a corperation (ex: the church during the renaissance, or disney nowadays): art & artists started to rebel and retake their art from said corperations.

Examples:

Baroque art -> used to reclame / fight against clacissism.

Romanticism -> used to reclame / fight against baroque.

Modern art -> used to reclame / fight against romanticism.

(Disclaimer: I know its a "simplification" of art history. dont come at me art history majors xD)

Anyways, tldr: artists always evolved their art to fight against their opressors when art became political. And before it became political (like prehistory) it was just used to express yourself.

I latched onto the corperate horror aspect of fnaf HARDDDD i love that shit, even more so than the original hauntings, help wanted made it click for me that it wasn't just William aftons fault, it wasn't just this one guy but just so many continuing his negligance and so many other people desperate enough for money to work in such a hole. the recontexualization of help wanted truly made me think that William Afton is no longer the real badguy the corperation is, as much as you can blame so much on a trapped spirit within a shambling corpse, you have to think now many other people have suffered though their negligence though their poor work conditions. Security breach is important to me too because it particularly introduces the idea of robot ethics horror in ways that places the robot at a disadvantage. Fazcorp made an entire sentient being with thoughts and feelings and staff will straight up say that their skeleton will be ripped out and their skin will be slapped on it just because they might not work optimally. and this can happen to the people that you love, you're best friend can come back with factory default settings and you have to move along and do your job, they'll never remember the memories you had before with them. You have to work hard and try to be popular lest you or your friends become discontinued, and then, they'll probably make a better model.... Security breach's subtle pecking order within the bot's is so good because Sun/moon is very much looked down upon, even when GR freddy is the kindest soul he's still arkward about him. sunny looks and acts so arkward and unloved, the guy feels like a guy at the end of his rope trying to get things to work but his programming is slapdash at best.

Sadly I can't draw characters sooo I was messing around with a picrew and made this

their character design makes a lot of sense when you consider the designs in bsd (e.g. the coat bc they veil themselves and their motives; lighter colors on the outside and darker colors closer to the character themselves; their cane as a hidden weapon (there's a sword inside :3); the letter bc they communicate mostly from afar)

enemies: probably fukuchi bc he "stole" bram when they fought the vampires instead of killed him (AGAIN don't come at me, i didn't do enough writing on this yet but i'll work on the backstory)
