Kerala Tourism Reopens: All You Need to Know
Tumblr media
The coronavirus was a disaster when it came. First, it forced countries to put complete lockdowns and told people that nature is the boss and not us. Second, the virus significantly impacted travel & tourism, especially in India, and tourism companies had losses. Still, now that the virus is settling down and vaccination is in process, tourism is reopening. Today’s blog post, India by Car and Driver, will discuss all you need to know about the reopening of tourism in Kerala.
Kerala during the lockdown
As one of the most graceful states in India with lush greenery and beautiful waters, Kerala is also known as the country of God. But with tourism closing down in 2020, its tourism industry had to bear a loss of 33000 crore rupees between March and December and 7000 crore rupees in forex as per the statistics.
Reopened tourist places in Kerala
But now, in 2021, touring and traveling in Kerala is back, and so are we, so get ready to enjoy Kerala with our South India Tours again. The government of Kerala has put down new guidelines so that you can safely travel in Kerala. So if you have planned your tour to Kerala, now is the right time to do it because the third wave (not of zombies) is coming, and it can again close tourism in India. So enjoy the lush greenery and calm atmosphere of Kerala at these reopened destinations.
●       Ecotourism sectors under the forest department.
●       Places such as hill stations, beaches, backwaters, and houseboat services.
●       You will also enjoy Onam, the festival of Kerala, where you get to see various art, culture, and cuisines on display, but this time the celebrations will be digital.
●       Destinations like Munnar and Idukki will reopen. You will get to enjoy the Kolukkumalai jeep safari in Munnar as it reopens.
●       You will get to enjoy locations under the District Tourism Promotion Council as places under it reopen.
●       You can also explore the Periyar tiger reserve as it will reopen as well.
●       The Eravikulam national park, Chinnar, Rajamala, and Vattavada will reopen while adhering to the new government pandemic rules.
●       Some of the most famous locations to visit in the country of God are the backwaters of Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Wayanad. You will transcend into a world of calmness in these places. The good news, these places are also reopening.
Covid-19 government protocols for Kerala tourism in 2021
You must strictly fall under these guidelines. If you want to travel to Kerala, we at India by Car and Driver will also check your certificate before taking you on tour for your safety, so please comply with us.
●       If you have taken at least one shot of the corona vaccine before two weeks of travel, you can visit Kerala’s tourist places.
●       If you have an RT-PCR negative certificate under 72 hours, you can travel to Kerala.
●       If you have passed a month after, God forbid, being infected with the virus, you can travel to Kerala.
●       You will be able to see the vaccine status of tourism employees and similar organizations, along with the number of tourists allowed on a trip.
●       Hotels and resorts in Kerala will have a new bio-bubble model.
●       Boating will have a limited number of tourists to avoid crowds. It is for your safety only.
●       Drivers will sanitize the buses after every trip for your safety, and so will we with our AC cars for rent.
Latest update on Kerala travel & tourism
Here are the latest revisions you should know about travel & tourism in Kerala. Please read these carefully and travel accordingly for your safety.
●       Kerala tourism agencies will follow all the government guidelines.
●       As per tourism stakeholders, Onam will improve tourism in Kerala.
●       For your safety, three hundred forty tourists are allowed per hour and 2240 tourists per day in the Eravikulam national park.
●       The vaccine drive for the Munnar tourism sector is complete. In simple words, everyone in the Munnar tourism sector has received two shots of the covid-19 vaccine.
●       The government of Kerala will take steps to improve tourism in Kerala and explain to other states about Kerala’s update. It will help more people like you to visit the country of God.
●       The tourism department will release an application to see the unexplored places in Kerala with all the details.

Over seven vaccines are being researched in India and only Bharat Biotech's COVAXIN and Zydus' ZyCoV-D have got the go-ahead to start human clinical trials, just this week. Globally, over 100 candidates are being tested on humans but no vaccine has yet been approved. The vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, showed a "strong immune response" in animal studies, and the antibodies produced were able to completely neutralise the wild type virus, Zydus said. Travel in the time of Corona? Well, we are advising all our guests to hold on to their travel decisions for now. Though the lock down is very painful it is in our collective best interest to stay put at home and follow the advice of the local governments. There is much more to lose if we flout the advice. India is coping well so far, and among the states Kerala seems to have flattened the curve, but it is still early days. Every passing week we are getting more information on the spread of the virus within the country, and across other countries too. Lets hope and pray that all countries are successfully in controlling the spread and that we all get back to a healthy way of life soon.
There is a lot of information, good and bad, that is floating around. Please take a PAUSE and THINK twice before FORWARDING any information. Medical teams and Governments around the world need all the help they can to contain the Virus. Let us do our bit by staying safe and acting responsibly.
We are keeping a tab on these 2 websites for the latest updates, in case you find them useful too. 1. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (for India) - https://www.mohfw.gov.in/ 2. World Health Organization (for the World) - https://www.who.int/emergen…/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019
Please feel free to write to [email protected] in case we can be of any assistance.
Stay Safe, Stay Calm - from all of us here at The Traveling Gecko.
