BIOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE CORNEA DO NOT AFFECT THE TRANSPALPEBRAL TRANSSCLERAL TONOMETRY RESULTS https://tonometerdiaton.com/2020/01/biomechanical-properties-of-the-cornea-do-not-affect-the-transpalpebral-transscleral-tonometry-results/ In a collaborative Russian-German study was conducted in the eye clinic in Munich, Germany. The subject of the study was the clinical use and the reliability of modern transpalpebral transscleral tonometry in patients with refraction anomaly before and after keratophotorefractive surgery. IOP measurements were carried out with transpalpebral diaton tonometer and Goldmann Applanation Tonometer (GAT). In consequence of the study central corneal thickness (CCT) corrected GAT IOP values before and after corneal surgery differ from each other, while diaton tonometry values remain stable. In the whole group, CCT corrected GAT and transpalpebral IOP-values were in good correlation. The study confirms the reliability and advantages of the clinical application of transpalpebral transscleral tonometry in cases when using contact corneal tonometry is impossible: corneal pathology viral infection “dry eye” syndrome allergic response laser refractive corneal interference Full text of the article in the following: Articles and Clinical Trials #ophthalmology #optometry #ophthalmic #ophthalmologist #optometrist #eyedoctor #keratoconus #dryeye #cornealpathology #lasik #dryeyes #crosslinking #keratopathy #keratoconus #kpro #oftalmólogo #oftalmologista #optometría #optometristas #Sjogren www.TonometerDiaton.com @tonometerdiaton https://www.instagram.com/p/B6zOZHWhzV4/?igshid=154mlsj4zuhni

Q: How to measure Accurate IOP post corneal transplant? Ans: Scleral Diaton Tonometry. Diaton tonometer enables physicians to measure accurate intraocular pressure completely independent of corneal biometrics. Learn more at www.diaton.com A cornea transplant (#keratoplasty) is a surgical procedure to replace part of your cornea with corneal tissue from a donor. Your cornea is the transparent, dome-shaped surface of your eye that accounts for a large part of your eye's focusing power. A cornea transplant can restore vision, reduce pain and improve the appearance of a damaged or diseased cornea. Why it's done A cornea transplant is most often used to restore vision to a person who has a damaged cornea. A cornea transplant may also relieve pain or other signs and symptoms associated with diseases of the cornea. A number of conditions can be treated with a cornea transplant, including: A cornea that bulges outward (keratoconus) Fuchs' dystrophy Thinning of the cornea Cornea scarring, caused by infection or injury Clouding of the cornea Swelling of the cornea Corneal ulcers, including those caused by infection Complications caused by previous eye surgery #cornea #cornealtransplant #cornealedima #cornealpathology #cornealthickness #cornealulcer #cornealabrasion #cornealsurgery #tonometry #tonometer #diaton #eyesurgery #eyesurgeon #glaucoma #cornealulcer #keratoconus #corneatransplant #fuchs #fushsdystrophy #ophthalmology #ophthalmologist #oftalmólogo #oftalmologia #eyecare #eyedoctor #optometry #medical #medicine #doctor https://www.instagram.com/p/B5LcFVcBI7u/?igshid=w8ru83661grc

Think Outside the #Cornea! 👍 #IOP through Eyelid & #Sclera. Learn more at www.diaton.com Regarding accuracy: In a typical eye, Diaton is within ~1mmHg of the #Goldmann. However, in an eye with a corneal #pathology, the Diaton would give you a more accurate reading - Diaton is independent of corneal properties. For example, in patients post #LASIK, having significantly thinner corneas, the Diaton would give an accurate reading, without the need for #pachymetry. Regarding the differences in lid thickness: The Diaton measures over the tarsal plate. Higher up on the lid, individual lids may be of varying thickness, however at the #tarsus, there is less variability between patients. Additionally, the way in which the Diaton tip is designed, it very slightly flattens the area where the measurement is taken, resulting in more consistency. Of course, if there is a pathology such as generalized #eyelid edema, the use of Diaton would not be suggested. Keep in mind, there are many instances of #cornealpathology where corneal tonometers (all other devices) are entirely contraindicated. Diaton is the only non-corneal device. Just as an example, Diaton is the only device that can obtain an IOP measurement in patients with #keratoprosthesis, #cornealedema, or in patients while wearing #sclerallenses on the #eye. By the way, likely you might have already seen the recent studies published regarding very significant #IOP increases during scleral lens wear. If you haven't seen it yet, message us and we will send you the links. Also, some conditions make #corneal tonometry possible but more challenging, such as #keratoconus - the Diaton alleviates those frustrations. Aside from Diaton's clinical use as a typical #tonometer in typical eyes, it also has many unique applications in patients with various atypical corneas. For many practitioners who already have a corneal device in their practice, the #Diaton is a needed adjunct device. @tonometerdiaton #optometry #ophthalmology #eyecare #glaucoma #keratoconus #dryeye #dryeyes #ophthalmologist #optometrist #eyedoctor #oftalmólogo #oftalmologia #optometría https://www.instagram.com/p/B4xnHHYhdNW/?igshid=3miqgudpjcrg

Transpalpebral tononeter Diaton. Unique innovation in intra-ocular pressure measurement. @tonometerdiaton Who Uses the Diaton Tonometer? Diaton Tonometer is intended for use by Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Ophthalmic technicians as well as Inpatient & Outpatient Clinics such as Hospitals, Emergency Rooms, Urgent Care Clinics, Nursing & Elderly Homes, General & Specialty Practitioners. Non-corneal, Scleral Diaton tonometeris particularly useful in cases where standard direct applanation (corneal) tonometry is difficult or not viable, such as with pediatric patients, in presence of certain #cornealpathology, edema, infection, following #corneal surgery, #keratoconus, KPro and in cases of eye trauma. “There has been a Renewed Concern about whether Scleral Lenses cause Increase in Intraocular Pressure.” Multiple Clinical Studies showed IOP to elevate by ~5-7 mmHg regardless of #sclerallens diameter worn. Eye care practitioners that fit sclerals now Need to monitor IOP with Scleral Lenses IN the eye! IOP monitoring with Diaton minimizes the risks & liabilities for practices and increases the level of patient care. #Contactlens Spectrum covered the topic in detail: Link: https://www.clspectrum.com/issues/2018/september-2018/the-scleral-lens-vault #glaucoma #tonometry #tonometer #optometry #optometrists #eyecare #ophthalmic #vision #ophthalmology #ophthalmologist #oftalmólogo #oftalmologia #optometría #optometristas #Oftalmología #odlife #optometrist #eyedoctor #doctor #sclera #ScleralContactLenses (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxO9cGOAwSp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=o3jikudnsawi
