For @lilyoffandoms, I sampled from Choices and ILW transparent files to come up with a couple of new outfits for their COP MC Gabriel Rose, based on the info from here! And it looks like Trystan wanted to try them on too hehe

Evangeline Marie G. (Guzman) Lakandula - Ah yes, my soft, anxious babie with self-worth issues. She comes from a messy background with a horrible father. She was close to her late (paternal) grandparents and had a very complicated relationship with her late mother. One of her relatives shes v close to is her older cousin, Ethan.

She's a college dropout thanks to her father's bad choices and worked the moment she had a chance to.

After her mother passed, that was it for Evangeline. She kinda needed to go away from her dad and his loud voice and other issues. So she left home and Ethan helped her out before he left for a business trip abroad.

He had her go to a house he owned in Laguna where she could live in provided she just do the cleaning in there. She found simple work that she was qualified for and that was her life for the next few years until a certain bachelor party came into her life.

Diwa Kalangitan M. (Masangga) del Rosario - My chaotic good and very protective MC who definitely rabbleroused in the school she works in.

She was raised in a household that follows some precolonial beliefs and traditions. She has a stepfather who's an albularyo and two half-siblings. One is studying in college, the other is still in high school. She has a close relationship to both her parents.

And she is rather happy with her job as a teacher in a private school. Sure she sometimes goes against curriculum to make sure the kids enjoy her lessons. She's a class advisor also so when she found out their math teacher humiliated one of her students, she confronted said teacher.

Her trip to America is really just a birthday trip until the events of the book started. In the end she ends up in a poly relationship with Nik and Cal. (She does end up pointing out to the boys that she'll have to go back to her work and family at least just to properly resign and find work near them and also to assure her family she's safe.)

Maya Chelidonia C. (Caacbay) dela Rosa - The local tired detective who had to move abroad for their own safety. Love them SM.

Maya is the child of Jaime dela Rosa, a cop in the Philippines who does not follow in corrupt practices and tries to do right by the community. He was killed after coincidentally seeing signs of corruption in the force and wanting to expose it.

After their father's death, Maya also followed in his footsteps. On their end, they wanted to try and do some good in their job but ended up experiencing some discrimination in the work force. Enter them finding the same evidence of corruption that their father found as well. This time they managed to expose the corruption but in the end, one of their few friends in the force warned them that they'll have to flee the country due to some v angry officials.

So they fled with their mother and younger sister.

Their sister became a fashion designer. Maya found work as a private detective and the two teamed up to be able to live a decent life. Their sister travels with their mom on fashion shows. They're fine living nearby their maternal uncle with their dog, Spudge. (He's a scaredy cat and a lil crybaby who doesn't like strangers and by that I mean he starts crying when the strangers notice him. It's not out of trauma, he just likes Maya and their fam more than anyone else and is v shy with others. He's also scared of the dark and loud noises.)

Inocencia Honorata G. (Galang) Valenciano - and finally, my love's embarrassing bby. My Rafael Aveiro romancer. Love her sm.

She and her mom, older brother and little sister ran away from their father when they were a kid. Her parents annulled their marriage after a few years.

Her older brother became the youngest lawyer in the country and had a firm in New York seek him out. This led to him helping Inocencia and her sister (who had skipped grades and managed to enter college the same year as Inocencia).

Inocencia is v non-competitive that she chose De La Salle University while her sister went to their grandfather’s alma mater, University of the Philippines. At college, Inocencia got dubbed as SiaSia because of the repeated -cia in her first name and surname.

The two got accepted into Edenbrook when they were gonna start. Inocencia being 27 and her sister being 25. By then, Inocencia still isn't competitive and didn't sign up for the competition for the diagnostics team but her little sister shoved her to try it out.

alright so i've just spent most of the morning catching up with nb s3 so here are my thoughts immediately in retrospect (spoilers of course)

it became very clear with the last few lessons that the writers either were on crunch time to round things up (most likely) or just could not give a shit (feels less likely, and i want to have more faith than that in them)

so i guess we're never going to find out what nightbringer's deal was? or what he meant by sending mc back in time to find happiness?

or what that prophecy was about

or how nightbringer 'made solomon the man he is'

or why barbatos was so mysteriously knowing in the opening movie, as if he had something to do with the time thing

or what the deal is with michael

story ended before we could date thirteen :(

not really to do with s3 but i wonder if they ever intended to have mc make pacts with diavolo or barbatos

thirteen and mephistopheles did not have arcs at all? there were some points where it felt like thirteen was deliberately excluded, even

raphael's arc is over so abruptly as well. he's anguished and distraught and then babel explodes but not really and he's completely fine again afterwards?

did not need lucifer to be in angel form for the master moment. and i feel like it would've hit harder for lucifer as a demon to break through the illusion anyway!!

it felt like there were so many cop-outs in general

rule of three: mc does fall from things three times in total but there doesn't seem to have been any real narrative reason for that

the last fall had a whole dramatic foreshadowing dream about it! but mc just has a brief vision and then it turns out lucifer caught them and everyone's fine

got real tired of the angel stuff.. the celestial realm's done a complete 360 in terms of its perception in the narrative and i'm really not a fan of it

simeon just. decides to keep being an angel. and it works??????

well it immediately turns him back to human apparently anyway

and the implication at the end is that he's just going to go back to being an angel, too, which... COME ON

i audibly went "oh ffs" at that part

i wasn't that mad at them just reversing the demon-simeon thing because i think the most interesting way to explore his character was to keep him human

then they kept going and i was like GUYS NO WAIT

the magical science is really frustrating because it's just close enough to real life science but a bit too hand-wavey about the magical mechanics to be interesting

beel gets done incredibly dirty in general - it felt like the majority his dialogue just continued to boil down to "i want food"

barbatos has basically nothing to do, which is crazy given the nature of nightbringer and his... you know... time powers

i really do not buy mc being totally fine after all of their exploits. surely there must be SOME physical repercussions even if they're so powerful?

the implication that the brothers are eventually going to figure out the time travel thing (and that diavolo already knows) interests me, but of course now we'll never know

the unwillingness to bring up any real conflict around mc's increasing power was really frustrating in general - couldn't the 'it does that to defend out of a manifestation of their kindness' thing have come after they genuinely struggled with it for a bit?

couldn't anyone have debated what they might have to do if mc became a danger to the devildom? because that angst could've been great

mc's magic in general isn't really handled well

the moon plot in lesson 60 felt like it was intended to be the big climax of s4, which was then hastily repurposed into the s3 finale when it was announced that the story wouldn't continue past there - it felt similar in vibe to the three-world-imbalance plotline of om s2, something that really needed a lot more time for both the build-up and fall-out

for a hot second i was convinced this was gonna be an atla 'my lover turned into the moon :/' thing but of course not

the premise of the moon plot was really good though! i can imagine a better planned season, with writers who actually had time, that could have done it really well!

the idea of 'the moon is in love with mc too' was a really funny plot point (/positive), kind of loved it

i genuinely didn't realise that the moon plot had been resolved until diavolo started making his science fair speech. i thought it had failed because mc and [demon brother] got blown up or something, and they'd have to try again

so for a good while i was just going "guys?? guys the moon? it's still coming? the big moon? it's gonna kill everyone ??"

i got excited by the chapter name 'the sleeping demon' because i thought the king was going to get involved, but it's just whichever brother you picked passing the fuck out after the moon explodes

there's a lot more routes in lesson 60 - almost certainly because they had to get in an obligatory end-of-season kiss with all the romanceables and couldn't fit them all

the generic references to 'he' and the lack of any dialogue from the other brothers during 'the sleeping demon' made it feel really stilted and awkward - i suppose they didn't have enough time to really tailor the dialogue to each brother, which is fair enough, but also the plot point of the brother passing out didn't feel necessary in the first place

if they needed a branching point to pick a brother for their obligatory kiss, they could've just had mc get moon blasted and then they can choose which brother is there when they wake up

they'd need a different plot point for the others after that, but it gets rid of the awkward references to a nameless 'he'

the thing that puzzles me is that seasons usually wrap up their big plots by the end anyway, but the pacing of the end of s3 feels like they were expecting to end at, like, lesson 70 instead - my best guess is that a pre-existing lesson 60 had to be modified to feel suitably end-game (brings me back to the idea that the moon plot was meant for a future season)

also i don't purport to know what's going on behind the scenes but at times it felt like they could have spent maybe ten more minutes adding a little more dialogue (the bonus story in lesson 60 comes to mind)

all in all... it's a weird place to end the story on. i probably still need to gather my actual feelings regarding that but right now i'm just kinda like "okay. huh. well nice knowing you guys i guess"

i just stumbled upon OM another story and I'm loving it already! I stopped playing OM shortly after NB because I was so tired of the story becomes a slice of life cash grab and not even an tome anymore in my opinion, so I'm super excited to see where you take your story! Do you plan on having routes for each dateable? And will your version be more "angsty"/serious than the OG game (which is too goofy at times lol)?

Yes! I’m going to be fleshing out the story for each character. I want it to be darker where it should have been/stayed darker before they retroactively edited the first game’s content, and more romantic, possibly spicy but I don’t know if it’ll tread into really really nsfw yet. (Maybe 😏). (I could write some really fucking good smut but on my main blog I get too embarrassed and end up doing cop outs that aren’t good at all if I’m being honest. I need to just full send it).

it’s gonna stay goofy on parts of it cause that’s what makes the game charming. But like chapter 16 for example, we’re not gonna move on from that so quickly as we did in game. We’re gonna have ✨angst✨, we’re gonna have ✨trauma✨, we’re gonna see which brothers have a part of them that permanently can’t forgive Belphie. We’re gonna have them struggling with the weird fact that MC is their sisters descendant with some man this is kinda fucked up guilt and struggling to view them as two separate people. We’re gonna have some MC getting serious injuries with lasting effects bc atp in the game they’re not a trained sorcerer and the brothers need a reminder of just how fragile normal humans are.

Imma be honest, due to exam season coming up, this event slipped my mind, but I have given my best having in mind your tastes and dedicated it some days and came up with this! It's short and nothing like I had originally planned, but I'm proud of it and it gave me a chance to write COP (and fem Trystan too ngl) I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Summary: After Cameron Rose collapsed after saving Marguerite and the grand reveal of who was the killer all along, Trystan has some thinking to do before Cameron wakes up

The fire happened in a blur. The last thing Trystan saw was Cameron, her Cameron, being rushed to the hospital, and Trystan felt her whole world crumbling. Cameron was not the kind of person to crumble and give out, no; they were all about fighting till the end. Maybe they did fight till the end and crumbled. And Trystan was not there. The feeling made her heart race faster. She. Was. Not. There.

Naturally, the first thing the exiled princess did was get to her car and drive behind the ambulance, the thought of her beloved Cameron there and alone killed her inside. She could not lose her detective like that. No, especially when Trystan counted with endless resources. She’d bring her Cameron even if the Drakovian scaffold was next for her.

Trystan had worked and been with many people, but no one quite like Cameron. There was something about them that left Trystan wanting more each time they interacted. And now that she could lose them, it felt like a pressure that Trystan couldn’t get out of her system.

Please God, she begged, take me. Take Eleanor. Take Tony. Anybody save them. I’ll do anything. I beg you.

She wasn’t even religious, but for Cameron, she would.

The moment the ambulance stopped at the urgencies gates, Trystan raced behind Cameron’s bed. Running behind their bed, she looked at them, their beautiful brown eyes closed, eerily still, and that terrified Trystan.

They were about to enter the room when the doctors stopped Trystan “Where are you taking them?! I demand to be there!”

“Are you family of the patient, ma’am?”

“No, but—,”

“I am afraid that you must wait for family members to arrive. We shall call the person in their emergency list and hope they answer.”

Seething, Trystan hollered “I am Princess Trystan Thorne of Drakovia and I demand to be in the room!” Her eyes were watering, trembling of impotence, but the doctor didn’t budge.

“Sorry, but unless you’re directly family, I’m afraid that you’ll have to wait.”

An idea struck. Cameron would kill her, but it was worth a shot.

“Not to mention their fiancée.” The nurse stopped, and Trystan smiled to herself “how will you explain to them that their beloved is not there, hm?”

“Oh! Uh… you… should’ve mentioned that earlier. In that case, follow me.”

Trystan waited, and after what it seemed like a long time, Cameron came out fine, simply asleep. Trystan checked their pulse, and sighed of relief. It was stable. They’d be fine.

For the next hours, Trystan watched how Cameron breathed, their chest raising and falling, a constant reassurance that all of this had been but a scare, and that they’d be fine. Jimmy came a while later, panting and demanding to see how Cameron was. He did raise an eyebrow at Trystan being their fiancée, but said nothing, as in an understanding that now that was between Trystan and Cameron.

The hours passed, and Trystan felt like she was being slowly buried alive, hopeless, barely breathing. Cameron was fine, but asleep nevertheless.

“Please,” she whispered, “please, Cameron, wake up. Wake up and call me an idiot. Berate me. Roll your eyes at me, glare at me, yell at me for lying my way here, but please, come back to me. Come back to me, Detective Rose.”

Jimmy frowned “I don’t know how I’ll pay for this. Cameron has their own money, but it doesn’t do much.”

“Money’s no trouble for me. Let me pay for it.”

“I can’t ask you to do that—,”

“Mr. Rose,” she hissed, more to herself than anyone else “Cameron was with me when it happened. A life was on the line. A case was to be solved. They were under my protection, and I failed to do so. They could’ve died, and I wasn’t there. Please, let me be useful, or I swear to God that I will explode.”

Jimmy, reading the expressions on the princess’ face, relented. He sighed “Very well, kiddo. But, as a retired old dog, some things are out of your control. You couldn’t have predicted what would happen, even if you are as powerful.”

“I could’ve done something. Rush back with them. Wait for them. Stay with them.”

“You got them out, did you not?”

“Barely.”

“Barely is better than not at all. Some are not so lucky and have no option but to watch their partner die on the job. I speak from experience.”

Trystan flinched. What a terrifying thought, carrying Cameron’s dead body in her arms. Unmoving. Still. Cooling down by the minute. Getting up abruptly, she shook her head, brushing off such a grotesque thought and, without a word, went out to get some coffee.

On the way there, Trystan spotted Luke, Ruby and Mafalda in the waiting room. They all rushed towards the princess, showering her in questions about Cameron’s state.

“Quiet, not all at once!” Mafalda chided.

Nodding to Mafalda in gratefulness, Trystan cleared her throat “Cameron’s fine. They’re now unconscious. They don’t seem gravely hurt, most of the damage is by smoke breathing. They haven’t woken up yet, but I know they will. Soon.”

They all nodded, hopeful. By God, they would. They had to. Or else Trystan would burn the entirety of New York to the ground and not even bat an eye. Her predecessors had done far more gruesome things for love--.

She shook her head. Love? She barely knew them! But… it also felt like she did. Something about them just clicked, like they had been made custom made for her tortured, troubled and perfectly disastrous and grotesque heart.

Typing a few buttons on her phone, she quickly got delivered some potent alcohol to clear her head. Rubbing her temples, she pondered on what she was feeling, and how different it had been when she was with Juliana. It was nothing like that. It was different. Rare. Special. Raw. Real. Secure.

It wasn’t love. Not yet. But it could very well be. With Cameron, it was more than possible. Something inside Trystan wanted it to be.

But for now, she turned back and went back to Cameron’s room, where, a few minutes later, began to stir awake. Trystan’s heart raced fast, embarrassingly fast. Not helping the beam, she whispered “I knew you wouldn’t leave me, Detective Rose.”

‘I get kind of sad to see little to no people acknowledge the fact that MC can be nb too in certain books (like COP) Everyone always sets a default that its a woman, and SOMETIMES they put she/he or similar things, but never acknowledge the they/them. ...I didn't say Ward was lame idiocy? The anon that 'recommended' Ward referred to idiocy in the worldbuilding, but AFAIK, I haven't called Ward idiotic or lame.

I've said I don't want to read it (and referred to gouging my own eyes out as a preferred thing to do rather than read it) and I've probably said a few other disparaging things about it in a broader sense, but the term 'lame idiocy' has not been among them. I'm not sure I've called anything 'lame idiocy'... ever?

As for supporting Vicky, I do like Vicky? I don't want to read Ward for many reasons, including that by all accounts I don't think I'd really like the version of Vicky that exists in that work, but I do like the Vicky that exists in Worm (such as she is) and some of the fanfics that use the decent (subjectively) parts of Ward to construct a fuller and better picture of the character.

But I doubt an actual supporter of Vicky would call her 'Cop' like that, especially not as a middle name. Leaving aside the fact that I vehemently disagree with that sort of labelling of Vicky (it's not inaccurate, but it is misleading and incomplete and certainly dismissive to just label her 'cop' and move on).

As for 'all true dykes' supporting her, that seems... off? I mean, popular shipping and fanon aside, as far as I'm aware, Victoria remained straight throughout the entire text of Ward (because, as I understand it, the first female MC Wildbow ever wrote that is canonically into girls is the Claw MC). Of course, ship whatever tf you want, Taylor being straight in canon doesn't stop me from shipping her with Amy or Rachel (or doing similar things in other fandoms, from time to time, though I do tend to do it less than some people in modern fandom) or having about ~20 different Pillbug/Skitterpan fic ideas.

So while I'm sure lots of lesbians and bi girls, etc do really like Vicky, hc as bi or gay or pan or w/e and ship her with Ashley or Taylor or Lisa, etc, as do presumably decent numbers ofstraight girls, guys of all sexualities and various fans of other gender identities (nb people, agender people, w/e), she's not like, you know canon sapphic rep or anything.

And again, I do like Vicky. I just don't want to read Ward. I would rather, as I said, gouge my own eyes out with a rusty spoon than read it. I would rather sit down on a cactus. I would rather read Twig. There's certainly things that would be less enjoyable than reading Ward, and there's also probably a good amount of stuff I would enjoy in it. But I do not feel any need or desire to subject myself to 2 million words of a work that I have many reasons to think I wouldn't like.

The fact of the matter is, for all that I am enjoying Worm, there are a lot of things about Worm I don't like. Not because Worm is bad or anything, it's not, it's just not really my kind of story. I'm not and never was the target audience, and I knew that going in, and I knew there were things about it I was never really going to love (the bleakness, for instance, which some people seem to adore, though they may not use the word 'bleak'). There's still a lot I like about Worm, but Ward sounds like it has even more of the stuff I don't like about Worm, and even less of the stuff I do like about it.

Obviously, without reading Ward, I cannot have a fully informed opinion on the work, and you know what, I'm fine with that. I didn't need to read 50 Shades of Grey to know that it's not for me and that I don't want to read it. And if you think that's an unfair example (which, granted, it kind of is), I can also say I don't need to read IT or watch either of the recent IT movies to know that I don't want to read/watch it. Not for me.

Ward's not for me, and I don't want to read it, and unless I was paid to, I wouldn't read it. (Or, I guess, forced at gunpoint, I'd read it then too). But I am not and will not say Ward is a bad work. All said and done, it's probably as good as Worm, or therabouts. So good, even great in places, but by no means a perfect flawless masterpiece. But I'm still not gonna read it.

I don't know if this technically counts as hate, but I am gonna rate this anon with a 0/10.

I was going through the lessons again and...

Spoilers for Lesson 14 undercut

How did this pass me? These lines give away so much but make so much sense. It feels like a cop-out. I hate it.

"MC, a certain bond exists between each of us and you."

Okay, great. So I am stuck with ya'll.

"I may not be able to see it, but I can feel it."

You go by your feelings a lot, just sayin'.

"It's unmistakable."

Everyone makes mistakes.

"It's what drew all us to you, and it's why we're all here together now. It was destiny in a way."

Call it what you will... fate... destiny... A bitch.

"Even if we were to rewind time and start over... we could meet a thousand different times in a thousand different ways and still end up here."

Enough with my stupid commentary, but Diavolo gives us a reason. A valid reason. A reason that is so easy... that it feels like a cop-out. There is no way it can be that simple. The thing is... it can be. There is a bond between MC and everyone. From the brothers to the dateables and our son, Luke. It is an undeniable bond that transcends time and space. The title line of the game is "My love for you transcends time." Now what am I blabbing about?

It is a reason that the brothers and others feel a connection. It is why we can bond with them easily. We have already done it. Time and time again. Time is a weird thing. Nightbringer has described it as "dark, heavy mud." Solomon gave an explanation Barbatos gave him a while back (which I can't find). There are points that are repeated over and over again, like the MC's room. That is THEIR room. Another big point is Mammon being first. It might be a running gag, but it is true. Mammon has always been first; the first pact, the first friend, the first guide, etc. Mammon is the first for nearly everything in the game for a reason. He is the first card we get from Nightmare in the OG game and NB game.

It doesn't matter what how many times they start over- it will end the same. It will end where they are all together.

But Time is just another factor in this game. This does bring up a thought for me. The brothers and others don't remember MC when they are brought back to the past. None of them remember MC and it makes sense for none of them to know them. If Barbatos is Nightbringer, it can be understood why he said "You don't trust me because I'm a demon." He doesn't know MC well enough. You can see the future, but not know someone. He also mentioned in the OG game that he never did anything with his powers because Diavolo forbid him from doing so. He got bored too, I believe and ya know, his "mistake". If Barbatos is Nightbringer, it would make sense why he say somethings that make no sense. Like everyone else, he does not know MC at all, but will. Because there is a bond between him and MC. Time and time again, they all end up together.
