To her surprise, she found Cade already there, his silhouette framed against the night sky. With a small smile, she slowly approached him, the faint scent of his cologne lingered in the air. "Ah, funny seeing you here," she remarked, her voice tinged with amusement. "Why are you out here? I thought you'd be having some lofty inquisitive conversations somewhere about topics that would probably sail right over my head. She only made an appearance when there was serious business to discuss. She didn’t have a firm hand or a soft one, she considered herself to work fairly but some people under her might disagree. “Does the name Bobby Anderson ring a bell?” she asked, tilting her head to watch his reaction. “Thought it might.” Chia grinned, walking the rest of the way towards him. “Been a few months and no payment from him, I’m starting to think all the claims of the big bad Wolfman are just fairytales.”

Cass leaned into his touch, her eyes fluttering closed as she enjoyed the feeling for a moment. It was incredible difficult for the brunette to get close to people, even more so for her to allow people close to her but Cade had seemed to break down some of those walls, and she was grateful for his persistence even if she didn't say so aloud. The hint of a chuckle left her as she nodded when he had to admit that what she said was true. Her second nod was more solemn. She understood his worry, and it wasn't like it was unjustified. "You're gonna be just fine." she assured, a hand moving to poke at his abdomen playfully. "You could go to the gym if you're bored." she teased, before pulling away only slightly to flash him a smile to show she was teasing.

His hand migrated to her cheek as Cass moved in closer, his thumb caressing her cheek as a sign of affection. He sighed as their foreheads touched, feeling a sense of warmth. Cade huffed amusedly, producing a short laugh through an exhale. "I guess that... is true," he said softly, with a small smile, "I just... I worry. A lot. I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself while you're gone."

think about it. mugman, in the morality debate w the devil, literally SAYS, OUT LOUD, the scenario of thinking he’s in the right when he’s not that he himself is now stuck in. now, i’m not saying with this that cc!mugman isn’t arrogant and DOESN’T have a god complex of some kind a mile long, because it’s plain by now that he DOES — but being arrogant and thinking yourself better then others doesn’t equal into actually, genuinely thinking that the things you do and the actions you commit are unequivocally, morally good.

Look at the morality debate another time;

now, we COULD focus on mugman’s reaction & all that, but i want y’all to look at the spades card. what’s its reaction to the devil’s card popping up? defensiveness, crouching down as one would do in a fight, all hallmarks of the fight that while the debate may SEEM civil, going by the (fairly obvious, i’d say) assumption that the cards are connected to devil’s & mugman’s emotions. look at the spade (& clubs) cade when the devil says “nonono, we’re talking about you-”

the spade card is disarmed, frightened. the club’s, on the other hand, is just surprised.

but let’s move on from that small detour for a bit. what does mugman say in the second ss? “A villain does not always need bad intentions, some bad people don’t think of themselves as bad, what makes a villain is their actions.”

and the devil replies with [paraphrasing] “doesn’t that make you the villian?”

and mugman replies with the fancy-people equivalent of “yes, but”. now, we may not ever know just what EXACTLY mugman would’ve said after that “but”, but i wager we can guess at what he might’ve been about to say. “we recognised our actions as wrong but i never said our actions weren’t wrong, i said that we had a morally good REASON, therefore making us NOT the villains in that specific scenario.” now, is there a multitude of OTHER things that mugman could’ve said there ‘fore the devil cut him off? yes, yes there are. but to make my point here, i’m going to go off of the assumption that THAT is what mugman was going to say.

the devil next said, “Villains can still recognise their actions and commit them, Mug.” mugman doesn’t respond to this remark; instead deflects with the fact that the devil’s evolution of the scenario/situation isn’t fair bc it doesn’t consider the context. i’ll get back on that l’il remark later, but the devil’s response is to IMMEDIATELY say [again, paraphrasing] “But it’s your debt we’re talking about here, don’t try and deflect off of the previous conversation.” when mugman says “no, this is about the debtors,” that’s a plain lie, because YES, the convo/debate began by talking about the debtors, but it evolved into a conversation/debate on whether the BROS were being morally good during the events of the game, so it IS about mugman’s debt. mugman & cuphead’s debt, technically, but both the devil & mugman’re ignoring that during that portion of the convo, so we’re ignoring it aswell.

strawmanning. what’s the definition of strawmanning? from goofle: “Straw man occurs when someone argues that a person holds a view that is actually not what the other person believes. Instead, it is a distorted version of what the person believes. So, instead of attacking the person's actual statement or belief, it is the distorted version that is attacked.”

when the devil says that mugman is strawmanning here, he is, as far as i can tell, right. mugman is strawmanning here; he clearly doesn’t entirely believe in what he’s saying, based purely off of how SURPRISED he is when the devil calls him out. i can say, from personal experience, that that isn’t how a person who truly believes in what they’re saying reacts when someone accuses them of lying - if they DO truly believe in what they’re saying/that what they’re saying is true, then getting told you’re lying WHEN YOU’RE NOT is incredibly frustrating. you don’t get caught-off guard, caught-out; you get angry, you get frustrated, and what a person normally does at being accused like this is either double down on their side of the argument, or they just drop the topic altogether because it frustrates one too much to continue interacting with someone who won’t believe them.

mugman does neither of these. what he does do is feebly try to deflect, deny, and move the debate back to the topic the whole thing BEGAN with- the debtors, & the devil accusedly taking advantage of people with his deals- and when that fails and devil turns to dice, the (obviously biased; i’m sorry dice ily but c’mon, you can’t deny he was) judge of the debate, for support and dice gives it, what does mugman do?

he stops trying to argue his point, and while yes, giving in and letting the other person win IS as i said a sign of someone who truly believes in what they’re saying, but here it’s obvious that that’s not the case. mugman, here, is giving in purely because he KNOWS he’s been caught-out, and there’s therefore no point trying to argue for something he doesn’t believe in.

but what exactly in that argument does he not believe in? the fact the debtors were taken advantage of in their deals? he definitely and wholeheartedly believes in that, even if not exactly in the way he presented it as to the devil, purely because if he hadn’t he wouldn’t’ve started that debate IN THE FIRST PLACE. so he believes in that, at least. so is the thing mugman doesn’t believe in - himself? does he not believe in the morality of him and his brother?

does he not think that he, himself, is morally good? if so, does he believe that he is morally BAD, or does mugman simply believe that he isn’t morally good? i wager he believes the former.

let’s take a quick look at Mortal Blues, aka the “Mugsy’s Mental Breakdown” comic strip(s).

here, we see mugman act the most arrogant we have ever seen him act in the entire 'verse of casino cups. he is flaunting his accomplishments in the middle of an honest-to-god mental breakdown and is clearly saying it all more to himself then to quadratus, saying it all aloud as a way to reassure himself that he deserves more, he deserves to know, he deserves to KNOW. so, clearly, he should ALSO be assuring himself of his morality, his goodness—yet he doesn’t mention it once in his list/rant about his 'accomplishments' (or more accurately, traumas).

he lists fighting satan himself, dying and coming back over and over and over again, and he rants about the injustice of it, about how he deserves more then this. how he deserves to know. he lists these things, in my eyes, as a way to reassure himself that he DOES deserve it, he’s done more then enough in his life to be deserving enough, to be powerful enough to know, so it’s only logical that he’d list off his moral goodness alongside all those other things: he’s above LUCIFER HIMSELF in his morality even if not in knowledge, he’s steadfast, he doesn’t break in his beliefs whether by actions or words, he is GOOD where so many other people aren’t-

but he doesn’t say anything of the sort, simply because it wouldn’t be true - or at least, deep down, he doesn’t THINK it’s true.

now, i’m not here to argue about whether or not mugman truly IS morally good or not (because in my genuine opinion, cc!mugman’s morality is more neutral then either good OR bad in my pov for reasons ill prolly expand upon in some other post someday); i’m just here to argue that mugman believes himself to be morally bad. and really, when you look at it all pilled up together, well—the evidence’s kinda hard to miss.

light shined in your eyes bringing them to an open, a loudspeaker ringing through your ears.

“good morning, islanders.” you hoped to get used to this, chris’s arm was wrapped around your hips, your back was touching his chest and the blanket was at the foot of the bed.

you quickly noticed the absence of his arm as he used it to sit up, wiping sleep off his face. you grabbed your mic off the side table and strung it on your neck.

“morning everyone.” clair started.

you sat up alongside chris, allowing your body to stretch, your back arches and your arms go up, a yawn creeps from your throat, you stop when you feel a warm hand glide up and down the arch, forcing a chuckle out of your body, you look at chris and his cheeky smile.

you could cut the tension in the room, there were awkward looks and everyone was quiet after the events of last night.

“let's have a good day!” robert exclaimed.

you sat down with a bright light shining in your face, you lazily rubbed your eyes, it was time for some beach hut chat.

“how are you this morning?”

“good.” you softly make out, “slept like a baby to be honest.”

“how do you feel about the atmosphere in the villa today?”

“when clair starts the morning convo you know it's bad.” you giggle then continue.

“i hope everyone chats today and clears things up.”

“and your couple? how are you feeling?”

you smile from the question, “s’good, we kinda just cuddled all night so yeah, i’m excited to chat with him more today.”

you had your towel wrapped around you and were almost done with your light makeup when chris, robert and cade walked in, they held iced drinks in their hands, chris walked over to you, placing what smells like coffee next to you, “meet me by the table when you’re done.” he whispered in your ear, you attempted to remember what table he was mentioning as the boys walked out of the room.

abby’s smile is bright as she sips what was brought to her.

“he’s on the mend.” kaia says.

“it’s yum.” she comments after a few sips, you watch as clair does the same, she nods her head.

“wish it had a straw.” you quickly add.

you place your liner down and cup your hand around the iced drink and take a small sip, then another one.

it was pretty decent, you remember telling him how you liked your coffee and it seemed to pay off.

you walked out in a skimpy bikini, you adjusted your sunglasses and walked over to chris who was standing next to the table clair and abby were talking at when you all first met, you were holding your iced coffee in one hand and your warm water bottle in the other.

as you got closer you noticed the array on the table, bacon and eggs. he got up and gave you a quick side hug as you praised him, he even pulled out your chair.

“this is so romantic.” you say as you sit down and he rushes to sit across from you, 

you place your things down and take off your glasses, hanging them on your top.

“i know, i'm just cool like that.” he remarks as he picks up his fork.

you smile, your face becoming warm whether he could see it or not, you also grab your utensil, picking at the eggs and delicately placing them in your mouth. it was an interesting contrast as chris ‘dogged’ his meal making you scoff.

“so i was thinking.” he starts after a bit of solid chewing.

“hm?” you questionably hum as you pick at the nicely cooked eggs.

“you got fuckin’ night terrors or somthin’?” he comments in a playfully but serious tone.

you couldn’t hold your giggle, knowing he was mentioning your constant moving last night.

“or did’ya want to get away from me.” he then states seriously, earning a worried face from you, he places his fork down waiting for your response. 

“neither, i guess i just toss around a lot but it has nothing to do with you.” you quickly reply in an attempt to spare his feelings.

he picks his fort back up and you slowly watch a smirk form on his face,, “if you like that, we can do tossing around that does involve me.” he’s smooth with his delivery but hastily giggles afterwards, resulting in your own giggles and chills down your back.

you comfortably sat on a bean bag next to clair, spraying on sunscreen and watching as people pulled each other about last night, you took quick sips out of your warm water. you both watched as cade and abby had a conversation at the fire pit.

“look’s fine?” clair questions.

you take note of the interaction, they were sitting quite far apart but they looked to be smiling, your attention was taken by a figure walking in front of you, it was chris.

“sorry to interrupt, you’ve been in the pool?” he quickly questions.

“no.” you comment looking between clair and up at him, “wanna?” he replies, you look at clair internally asking for permission.

“go ahead, i'll go to robert.” she states, standing up and walking towards the kitchen.

he turns around, remembering your qualm with the bean bags, you push yourself up and quickly adjust your bikini, leaving the sunscreen on the ground and taking one last sip of water before placing it down.

you slide your sandals off, dipping your toe slowly into the water as chris is light years ahead of you, splashing about, you sit on the ledge, your legs submerged in the water.

he swims up to you, grabbing your hips.

“get in.” he commands, “it’s cool.” he continues, his normal soft demeanor leaving surprised you.

you look down at him, your legs feeling the coolness he mentions, you are too caught up in your thoughts and the warmth of the sun on your face which were the cause of the sweat beads on your forehead to reply, he continues to pull at your hips, rubbing up and down from your side to your waist then back down to your hips.

“please,” he begs, noticing your silence.

“okay.” you comment, preparing yourself to slide down into the rest of the pool but instead chris lifts you up by your waist, your legs clutching around his waist in response, your arms sliding around his neck for safety.

a smirk was plastered on his face, he got his way and it brought him glee, you felt a warm sensation in your belly when you caught his face, both of your heartbeats danced with each other as he spinned you around in the splashing water.

your legs were parted and your core rested on his lower back as you pumped cream onto your palms.

“it stings” he hissed when you adjusted yourself, you were laid on the day beds and noticed chris’s intense burn, you offered your massage abilities and he happily obliged.

“deal with it” you playfully yet sternly comment, drawing a sarcastic “yes ma’am.”

 you lather the sun protection between your hands, softly rubbing it on-to his back, you can hear and feel him struggling with the sensation as he squirmed under your touch.

your eyebrows knitted while you focused on the task in front of you, applying a thick layer but also remembering to gently rub it in.

after you finished with chris you were pulled aside by the girls, you all sat down at the swing, you lifted your sunglasses on your face and wiped dots of sweat off your forehead.

“how is everyone? i feel like we haven’t talked all day!” abby starts with enthusiasm.

“fine.”

you watch as the girls reply, taking a sip from the water bottle cupped between your palms.

“i cleared things up with cade, shared a kiss…” she comments softly, earning a cheer from the girls.

“i actually ended up kissing robert in bed last night.” clair states shyly, you all lightly gasp, “why didn’t you say anything?” you ask.

“everyone wasn’t in the best moods this morning and then i kept getting distracted.” she defends herself.

“”so happy for you!” abby exclaims, “never do that again.” kaia chimes in, “you two’ve been quiet, whats up?” abby directs the attention towards kaia and leah.

“i mean after last night i can’t see myself continuing with cyrus, he’s genuinely ‘icked’ me out.” kaia expresses. 

“you haven’t talked?” you ask.

“i don't want to.” you nod your head along with the rest of the girls, “been talking to aidan though, i enjoy his company.” she continues, making you all smile.

“leah?” abby questions.

“me and romeo get on really well, he’s chill and i need that.” leah replies.

“damn.” abby starts, “all my hoes wifed up.” she continues receiving a scoff from most of you and a smile from the others.

“i mean chris and y/n might as-well get married at this point.” clair butts in.

“so as you and robert.” you quickly state, lifting your water bottles nozzle to your lips.

the sun started to go down as it was now time to get ready for the evening.

everyone freshened up and scrambled for an outfit for tonight, you decided on a short dress, abby commented on how your ass would potentially fall out so you knew it was perfect.

you quickly scrammed on some makeup and tidied your hair then you were out the door as-well as the others. you grabbed a champagne glass off the counter, everyone picked off into groups, you watched as cyrus pulled kaia resulting in a nervous face from you.

it wasn’t long before chris pulled you aside,  you thought as you were sitting on the bean bags with leah and aidan.

“hey” he says as he finally walks over, “wanna go terrace?” chris asks.

“mhm” you nod, taking his hand.

“haven’t been up there.” you state.

“i’m taking all your firsts huh.” his voice strains as he pulls you up, you gain balance then playfully nudge him for his comment as he leads you inside the villa and up the stairs.

he pulls you towards the boy’s dressing room. it was cleaner than you expected then to the glass doors, he slid it open and waited for you to walk ahead of him before closing it behind you both.

you overlook the view of the backyard, ‘everyone looks like ants from up here’ echoed in your mind.

“sit.” he states as he manspreads on the sofa by the railing, you plop beside him, curling up next to him as the chill air hits both of you. he placed his glass down and grabbed a pillow that was next to him, placing it where your dress ended. 

“too much ass to be sittin’ like this.” he almost whispers, making you quietly scoff.

“you okay?” he questions noticing your silence.

“mh.” you hum.

“i don’t like when you go all silent on me.” he replies.

“jus’thinkin.” you comment.

“yeah.”, “that scares me.” he continues.

you sip from your glass ominously, continuing to leave him in the dark.

he roped his arm around your hip, “you like me?” you look down as you question, fiddling with the top of your dress.

he sarcastically rolls his head to its side, “obviously.”

“why wouldn’t i.” he states, you shrug in response. 

“i think we're going at a good pace, no?” he asks.

you take your time to nod.

“gimme a hug.” he comments, moving his arms around your body, you tightly squeeze him back.

it was quickly time for bed but before that it was beach hut time.

you walked in and closed the door behind you, a tear welled up in your eye as you sat down.

“what’s wrong?”

you wipe your eye, sniffles dragged out of you.

you hesitated before responding, “i always get to a point wher—” you attempted to speak but couldn’t help choking up a few tears, you quickly wiped them, snot rolled down your face.

“i get to a point where i really like someone and i don’t want to screw it up but being vulnerable is so difficult.” you start.

“my usual reaction is to keep my feelings here.” you say as you point at your chest.

“then guys get annoyed and leave and i really don’t want to mess this up but it’s so hard.” you sniffly ramble.

“i just feel really bad.” you say lastly, wiping your puffy eyes.

this situation really reminded you why it’s been you and that damn butt groove, it can be hard for you to fully open up, all you could do was hope chris would be patient with you.

you quickly wiped off your makeup and changed, concealing your ‘beach hut breakdown’, 

you didn’t want the girls to make a big deal out of it so you pretended to be engaged in the late night chat but you quickly made your way down to the bedroom and tucked yourself into bed, the bedroom was empty as everyone including the boys still hadn’t finished changing.

you closed your eyes, enjoying the peace and quiet of the room before everyone started piling in, bringing you back to reality. 

chris hopped in bed beside you, “you okay?” was the first thing that left his mouth once he noticed your somber expression, you nodded and turned off your back, facing away from him, he knew something was wrong he just couldn’t tell what, you felt him beginning to rub your back in soothing motions.

the lights quickly went off as the room settled down, the movements on your back drifting you off to sleep.

Here’s the thing, yes The Resident coulda done a better job of showing us more of Conrad’s inner conflict regarding his feelings for Billie while with Cade but I will say we did get some signs of that inner conflict. We got him seeking Billie for validation in his relationship w/Cade. Here’s the thing, he’s already sought her out about Nic being ok with him moving on & he already remembered that convo btwn him & Nic telling him to move on. Yet he asks her anyway & it seemed like he felt something was off or needed her to tell him something diff bc he didn’t seem satisfied with her answer in the elevator. Then there’s the denial ep. Again it’s like he was seeking something from her, then he says later it makes him want to ask everybody everything, even if he’s afraid of the answer, what could he have been referring to? I say Billie. It’s similar to Billie’s convo w/AJ when she talked about her being just as afraid he’ll says yes as well as no. Then there’s the OD ep where the kid was saying that girl was his fr and he didn’t know what he would w/o her, he says he knows how he feels, again Billie. There’s the dance where he initiates the dance being more intimate and whispering in her ear. There’s him seeking Billie out to spend time with him and Gigi, showing that he misses her company & him looking confused when she talked about his weekends being full, like he can never be too busy for her. Then we have the looks he gave when James was asking Billie out, yes he didn’t like it but tried to play it off. Yes seeing more of him not liking it woulda been nice but we know he didn’t. I think the 13 eps meant the rushed over some SL while others went on way too long. That’s why I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get a season 7 cause I feel like we deserve to see Conllie fully fleshed out

We got enough of Conrad's perspective to know what was up, but I needed maybe more jealous Conrad. I wanted him to cry blood while seeing Billie and Dr. Hottie 🤣 ....jk 😜

We've got to see Billie in love and pining for Conrad since last season, so we've had longer to stew on her feelings and her perspective. It just felt kind of unbalanced for me.

The 13 episodes didn't make it any easier. It already felt like the thing with Cade went on forever. If it was a normal episode season, it wouldn't be a problem, and we would have gotten more out of that storyline.

I'm not mad at it tho. Like you've pointed out, there were still beautiful moments between them. Moments that showed us the trajectory of their journey.

We definitely NEED season 7. We deserve it 😫
