Does anyone else dislike it when people dismiss Tim and Stephanie's relationship. Like on the one hand, I get part of it is a joke, and that people are just being lighthearted. But on the other idk. Part of it feels like they're just erasing Tim's bisexuality, and the fact that he is not solely attracted to men, but I also feel like it complete diminishes just how much Tim and Steph meant to eachother. Thats not even talking about how poorly DC handled their break up.

seeing a lot of talk of the season 5 finale, which is fun, i get that it was controversial (honestly the fact it was really risky is kind of one of the things i like about it lol) and wanting to add my two cents but can't think of much i haven't already said before

but something i do want to emphasize is that season 5 ending on Marinette telling the biggest, boldest faced lie she's ever told (that goes far beyond "protecting her identity") to kick off the Lila arc is by far the coolest thing they could've done imo, because I was not at all excited for the Lila arc before but now I'm totally invested. Now Lila isn't the Evil Liar to be taken down by Good Marinette. Marinette is the liar to be taken down by the very liar that she took down. It's not a story of "defeat that freakishly evil girl" anymore, but instead a story of "Marinette's own actions and decisions coming back to bite her". And the lie itself (WHICH LILA KNOWS IS A LIE!!) only exists because, and is most impactful towards, her relationship with Adrien, which is the core of the series!! I CARE about their relationship, and that's the stakes!!!

I just cannot get over how cool that is, and how much I didn't expect it. I know we all were expecting a big fight with Ladybug and Chat Noir just defeating Gabriel and then watching Chat Noir cry or whatever in the few remaining minutes of screen-time and then it's all over and done with, but that's a series finale. This was a season finale. And they did something really unique and unexpected with it, while making sure it's a juicy season-finale conflict that leaves me actually excited about season 6

also, a side note— I think the framing of the finale made this confusing so I totally get why discussions about it are kind of all over the place, but... 90% of the post-wish stuff we saw had nothing to do with Gabriel at all. It was all Mayor Bustier, who was already running for mayor and wanted to enact green laws and projected to win (she was up against D'Argencourt, the character whose schtick is that nobody ever votes for him in elections). I don't think Gabriel's wish included "Please, Gimmi, I want my son's school teacher to win the mayoral election this year" lol. So a lot of talk of "why is Gabriel's World presented in such a positive light?" is kind of weird to me. That's not Gabriel's World. That's Caline Bustier's. All we know so far about Gabriel's World is that Nathalie is in it and he is not. And frankly, the fact everyone is so happy and cheerful and living it up after his death is more a roast than anything

( also, just a reminder that the presentation of Gabriel's statue— the only scene discussing Gabriel in a positive light by someone In The Know— was done by Tomoe Tsurugi, a series antagonist, vowing to continue his work, with a song in minor key playing in the background. i feel like the question of "was this meant to be unsettling or triumphant?" is pretty obvious. just wanted to remind everyone. also by definition characters cannot celebrate gabriel as a "hero" without in the same breath celebrating monarch's, aka gabriel's, death. yknow? )

Your silent protagonist doesn't have to use sign language btw. They don't have to write things down, either. They don't have to use language at all. Not every single person who doesn't talk can use words the same as you, or use them at all, so your favorite silent character shouldn't have to use what you consider a grammatical language to communicate in your fanart and fics. AAC exists. Drawing exists. Gestures and body language exist. Btw.

I do think we've moved far away from the canon evil Cass era that we can think about fun evil Cass au fics without the knee jerk "SHE WOULD NOT DO THAT." response. Like obviously if it's a big family fic and someone is like yeah lol she just loves killing because she was raised by the league its like damn. You didn't even care enough to do basic research huh. But like, among actual fans I think it's fun.

For me if I was doing a killer Cass au I'd probably take the canon divergence from the moment of her first kill, where she sees how the man dies and it terrifies her but instead of flight her response is fight. She doesn't understand what she seeing and it drives her to kill again and again because she NEEDS to know. She needs to understand. She still breaks away from David but this time instead of wandering the world peacefully she's basically having a very long and prolonged anxiety attack interspersed with murder. Her entire worldview has been shifted, there's this new and horrific skill she can do that she doesn't understand. Every kill sickens her but she keeps going because that moment where they die she still sees this horrifying incomprehensible emptiness and in this au instead of trying to make sure she never feels that again she keeps punishing herself and suffering so that she can fully understand what exactly happens when someone dies. Because maybe... If she finally finds an answer for what happens after the emptiness it will absolve her of her sins and her guilt. It'd be challenging to do right, because how much can you turn up the curiousity and self centred dials while twisting her fear of being a monster into... Not exactly acceptance but more like total rejection of this world where killing is a thing that's possible, before it's no longer Cass?

In this au Bruce and Babs find her earlier and are far more horrified. They're tracing a string of murders and the result is a ten year old girl standing over a dying body poking it intently to make it jerk in certain ways. It would be very hard for her to become a Bat after that introduction, but it would be a fun journey

i feel like some of y’all who like to argue about PR relationships need to remember that work friends exist. a lot of you act like they have to be the most genuine besties who talk every single day and know each other’s families or they hate each other and their whole dynamic was written by PR and there’s no in between. like it IS possible to actually be friends with someone within a specific setting. i have a lot of friends at work who i genuinely love to hang out with and they make my job so much more bearable and i do consider them my friends but i literally never interact with them outside of work. and i feel like that probably applies to a lot of driver friendships (especially between teammates). so maybe chill out with all the arguments 😭

but yes!! you are so right!!! i didn't call too much attention to it because i didn't think it was particular subtle but another reason OP lashed out at the Primes was because he was getting uncomfortably reminded of things Dee used to say to him Before

and honestly?? he's still grieving Dee! he's still hurt and upset at losing his best friend! and he still believes Dee losing it was partially because of him. if he hadn't been so reckless, if he hadn't dragged Dee everywhere, if he hadn't pushed him so much, if he had just "stayed on protocol" maybe he would still have his best friend.

so the Primes unknowingly echoing the very same things he feels are the reason he lost Dee plus the ever growing fear he's going to feel miserably at the task he was given make him lash out in anger and say things he never would've otherwise. it's pain and fear disguised as anger that make him snap like that, not him truly being resentful of their input.

but i hadn't even thought about him being afraid of also pushing the Primes away like he did to Dee! but it makes so much sense now that you've said it!

and in a way, now he's probably afraid he's being even more unfair with the Primes that he was with Dee. at least Dee had the option to leave. at least Dee made it clear he could always cut ties with orion if pushed far enough. but the Primes are bound to him.

their options are to be with him or go back to the Allspark and be cut off from the world. and even then, their sense of duty would probably not allow them to stop trying to help him, if not for him then for their people who they already failed once.

and it's as relieving as it is horrifying to him.

because on one hand he can't help but find some guilty comfort in that at least he can never lose them. everyone else may come and go but at least they will always be with him.

but on the other he's terrified they'll grow to resent him for it. that they'll start seeing it (him) as a burden, a duty they're all but shackled to. that they'll want to leave but unlike Dee they won't be able to. that he'll push them away too but they'll choke on the leash connecting them to him.
