The Curse of Cassandra│(Qimir x Reader)
Read in Ao3 : here
Pairings: Qimir x f!reader(SEA Reader) [The Acolyte]
Content Rating : Mature 18+ Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warning (AT YOUR OWN RISK)
tags/themes : Alternate Universe - Dune & Star wars, Partners in Crime, Strangers to Lovers
Summary: Being a prophet is both a gift and a curse; you see the future and you’re burdened with the weight of knowing that every decision you make could shape or destroy entire universe, with the overwhelming pressure that the fate of the galaxy hinges on your choice, and every path fraught with sacrifice.
Status: Completed (Finally! 😭)
A/N : I'm thai and english isn't my first language (sorry for the broken English)
This fic exists 'cause I got high (thanks to weed!). So my work's full of random shit in many ways. But I hope you'll dig it.
I got inspo from novels and movies I'm obsessed with: Dune, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Blue Eye Samurai, and Anne Carson's Cassandra Float Can. (Hence the title "The Curse of Cassandra," linking to the Greek myth)
It's a mash-up of different universes, not just Star Wars, with a lot of tweaks for my storyline. If you want fanfic that strict Star Wars canon, this fic isn't for you.
Also, diversity FTW! the reader in this fic isn't white, she's a SEA woman, we gonna representing ASEAN pride.

[Intro] A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
What fate could be worse?
Being captured by Jedi
Or being hunted by Sith
You close your eyelids, frowning at the stabbing sensation creeping into your brain. It's always like this when you try to sink into the stream of time, pondering what's yet to come. The price for this wicked foresight is torment of both body and soul, intensifying as your senses expand.
You see, you hear, you feel. The moisture in the air, the sound of water droplets hitting the ground, the wind rustling through the grass, the capillaries in your nasal cavities twisting and rupturing before blood gushes from your nose.
As you casually wipe away the red fluid with the back of your hand, you suddenly realize certain truths that have always been part of you.
You are an aberration, something repulsive. An Abomination.
And abominations must be eliminated—so they say.
You let out a long sigh, allowing your mind to drift through the past, present, and future—every possible event and situation. You watch it all with a numb mind, as if you've seen the same movie hundreds or thousands of times, a movie whose ending you already know well.
Yet there's one thing you still don't know: which ending will the path you're on now lead to?
Something pulls you out of your meditation, coinciding with the moment you sense someone's piercing gaze openly fixed upon you. That man is watching you from the shadows behind a large tree, not with malicious intent but with curiosity mixed with several other complex emotions too ambiguous to explain.
You remain seated in meditation at the same spot, amidst the blood and corpses of the Jedi, not daring to move, almost forgetting even to breathe.
You are the last one still breathing, the final victim of the Jedi massacre carried out by the mysterious Sith—The Stranger who is now closely observing you.
His face is completely hidden beneath a dark, twisted metal mask. Yet you can still feel his gleaming eyes surveying your body, as far as sight allows, focusing excessively, even invasively.
The curiosity in his mind is so intense that you find yourself trembling.
You see visions of what might happen—there's a high chance he'll rush in to slice you to pieces with his red lightsaber, searching for secrets or whatever might be hidden inside your body. Or he might subjugate you with his Force, using his power to penetrate your mind, deep into your subconscious, hoping to taste the forbidden fruit of secrets that you alone possess.
But he will never know, as long as you don't wish him to.
The scent of death hangs heavy in the air as heavy footsteps crunch over gravel, approaching you slowly, like a predator toying with its prey. You freeze, every muscle in your body tense, as you face the tall figure in dark cloak, his visage concealed behind a strange metal mask carved into a distorted smile.
For a moment, this man reminds you of the grim reaper from ancient religious myths that vanished thousands of years ago.
He is the harbinger of death everywhere he goes, including your own death
Awareness strikes like a warning signal. Various possibilities flash through your memory, similar to how a dying person recalls everything that happened in their life.
You instantly realize how crucial this moment is. This is an incredibly fragile juncture.
There's a fifty percent chance he'll kill you, and another fifty percent chance he'll spare your life.
Fear spreads throughout your flesh, imprinting itself on your soul, turning your blood ice-cold. Your pulse races with panic.
You take a deep breath, quickly focusing, trying hard to regain control of your shaken mind. "I must not fear," you mutter to yourself, the same phrase your mother used to teach you as a child. "Fear is the mind-killer, fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration..."
A low, hoarse laugh escapes from behind the metal mask. Clearly, he heard what you said. "Oh, I think you should fear," he says, his words teetering between mockery and sarcasm.
You know he wants you to fear because, for the Sith, fear leads to power.
You do the opposite, swallowing the lump of fear in your throat, maintaining a calm demeanor as you force a faint smile for the person before you.
"Humans fear what they don't know, just as they fear me, and just as they fear you." You pause momentarily, carefully considering your final sentence, which could determine your fate.
Finally, you speak, firm and unwavering, "But I know you, so I do not fear."
There's a fifty percent chance he'll kill you, and another fifty percent chance he'll spare your life—this thought returns to your mind once more.
He had always kept his secret well, never letting anyone who knew his true identity survive.
You know well that your revelation will bring about an end that changes everything, both for better and for worse.
This is the gamble you've already placed your bet on, for this purpose and for this moment.
The lightsaber hilt in his hand remains tightly closed, showing no sign of the red flame that has taken countless lives. He kneels before you, his action clearly revealing vulnerabilities in his body. You could easily grab the lightsaber from the Jedi's corpse and behead him in one stroke.
But you don't kill him, just as he doesn't kill you.
You look into his eyes, he looks into yours, gauging each other in silence.
His large hand reaches beneath his mask, unlocks the mechanism, and slowly removes it, revealing the familiar face in your sight.
His face is sharp in every proportion, with messy jet-black hair. His eyes, once gentle when touched by sunlight, now cold as ice, contrast starkly with the smile slowly spreading wide, in the same fashion as the smile on the mask he wore earlier.
"Qimir"
His name sounds strange when you utter it, as if it's not a name you're familiar with, and the man before you is not the man you know.
The man chuckles softly and moves even closer, cutting off any chance for you to escape. You swallow hard, trying to turn your face away from his intense gaze. But he doesn't let you. His fingers, wet with others' blood, dig into both of your cheeks, pressing hard enough to hurt, forcing you to look only at him.
"Surprised?" He leans in closer, his hot breath on your face, and whispers softly in your ear, "I told you, you can't run away from me."

COMMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN!
Hello, everyone! My circumstances are getting a little bit more complicated and it's been fairly tricky to find a job over the past year (aaand it's only going to get worse...), so it's time for me to fully, officially, reopen commissions. Some prices have increased since the last time I did this, mainly in the hopes that this reflects my improving skills a little better. Some options are quite costly (particularly the animations and comics) because they demand a ton more work than one might expect. Terms are also more strict than they used to be in order to ensure a more professional dynamic between myself and anyone who commissions me.
Send me a DM if you have a commission in mind, but first, make sure to read through the Read More. I want to expand on what's stated in the final picture to ensure better clarity on the terms of my services:
I'm open to working with any fandom or OC, be it one I'm familiar with or not. I'm also open to working with crossovers, as well as making book/fic/album covers, and even drawing real people as characters of a fandom of the commissioner's choice.
I am open to drawing ship/romance content but, tied directly to the next point...
I reserve the right to refuse any commissions that make me uncomfortable in any given way. This does not mean that everything besides my OTPs and the headcanons I support is guaranteed to be rejected, but it does mean that, if the behavior of the commissioner or the specific subject of the commission does not sit well with me, for any given reason, I will decline the commission. I won't work on something that squicks me, nor with someone who displeases me. No artist should.
Animals, mythological creatures, gore and +18 requests are fundamentally valid but must be discussed thoroughly first. None of these areas are my forte as an artist, as much as I've dabbled in them here and there, so, in order to get it right, I may need extra time and I will most likely modify the base price for any requests that includes these elements.
Payments will be done through PayPal or Wise. The final, full-resolution piece will not be delivered until full payment is completed. Half payment is expected at the start of the process, the second half at the end. The client is entitled to two revisions of the art process to ensure expectations are met. If a piece does not match your expectations after the revisions, the commission will be considered cancelled and you won't need to pay the second half of the expense. Any commissioner who wishes to pay upfront from the get-go does so at their own risk. Revisions are always included, but there will be no refunds if the final piece is not up to the commissioner's standards.
The commissioner is allowed to publish and share the commissioned work across social media, provided it follows the rules of each site (as in, don't post any +18 artworks on sites that do not allow it, pretty much). I can offer basic Glaze and Nightshade in order to protect the artwork from AI theft, to no added expense. Credit MUST be given to me as the artist whenever commissioned pieces are posted elsewhere.
For anyone who wants a list of fandoms I'm better acquainted with:
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Legend of Korra
Bleach
Digimon
Code Geass
Inuyasha
Dragon Ball
The Mentalist
The Dragon Prince
Disney
My Hero Academia
Dragon Age
Hades (Supergiant)
Cowboy Bebop
Hollow Knight
Star Wars

Overwatch
Full Metal Panic

Chronicles of Ancient Darkness
Eragon
Thor
Harry Potter
Free!
ASOIAF
Shaman King
K-ON
Critical Role/Legend of Vox Machina
Dungeons and Dragons
Blue Eye Samurai
Arcane
Castlevania
Again, any fandom, character or OC is valid, but I'm far more likely to know what I'm doing and to have my own opinions, for better or for worse, when it comes to anything on this list.
If there are any further questions, feel free to DM me and we'll sort them out!
Thanks for reading so far, and I look forward to working with you!

Final Xbox 360 sales is now live on the service before the store closes on the 29th!
Yes, it really is your last chance now to download, any apps, games and add-on content for the Xbox 360. This final sale is very disappointing it has to be said no more games will be getting their prices cut and next to no DLC has been discounted. So the Koei DLC for games like Samurai Warriors 2 is still very expensive.
The excellent website Delisted Games has done a full news store and list on all the price drops here, so do check it out: https://delistedgames.com/the-final-xbox-360-price-reduction-update-underwhelms-but-hey-theres-hoodies/
The art Delisted Games has been using for the shutdown does indeed show the Xbox 360 sun has all but set now.
We expect online play of many Xbox 360 games to be sunset after the store closes as well.
So grab all the free content on the service and any games you want while you can. There is quite a few games on the service. We just added Mars Rover Landing for Kinect to our soon to be removed games, it's a free one, but missing from the A-Z listing now and has to be search for. Our list is here: https://randomisedgaming.tumblr.com/post/755899330566684672/xbox-360-xbla-titles-without-xbox-one-series-x
Follow Randomised Gaming on Tumblr, YouTube, Twitch & Twitter for video gaming & video content! Buy us a tea on Ko-fi

i guess i'm in the minority but i really hate how blue eye samurai ended? i know it's possibly because we might get a season 2 but i'm not holding my breath because it's netflix and well, it's netflix. home of price raises every month with promises of newer content while giving users the same tired corny shows with a white cast and 2 poc sprinkled in a few scenes to seem woke or whatever. i'm not holding my fucking breath i'm just not.
we should have at least got mizu cutting off fowler's arm or leg as a promise of worst to come to him when they got their questions answered in london. but we didn't.
no new katana. no meet up with taigen and akemi and ringo again and the swordfather.
and out of everyone fowler figures out mizu was born a girl? "your bones crack like a woman's!"
mizu should have fed fowler his own fucking kidney. but nah. they on a boat to bum ass london.

Do you have any fic recs? Fuu x Mugen or otherwise because I am absolutely in love with your writing style and prose but have read everything at least thrice AND counting. So I am so sure your faves will also be bangin'! Also am about to check out that controversial fuugen fic you posted about!!!
Huge content warning on the controversial one as it contains dubcon/underage elements so if that bothers you…tread lightly!
A Treatise on the Price of Sugar in the Edo Period (1603-1867)
And here are some more! Not comprehensive by any means, these are just the ones that first popped into my mind:
Finding the Four-Eyed Samurai...With You?! - this one is a given but I’ll recommend it until my dying breath. Post-canon, in-depth historical research, fantastic storytelling. Chefs kiss. Linking the Ao3 version as those are the chapters the author has re-written, but there’s way more on FF that she is working on eventually re-writing. (I also love her to pieces she’s on here as @ryukyuan-sunflower !)
Though the Heavens Fall - another longtime favorite that is sadly unfinished but worth checking out.
Opportunity and Motive - a quick two parter.
Birthdays - short and sweet, the third chapter is so so so cute.
Birthday Booty - my one modern AU recommendation 🥲 (There’s just so few… I’m really doing my part in the fandom lol) Hear me out on this one: it is hilarious and surprisingly cute? Mugen cracks me up in it he’s so gross. I also think the author nailed their personalities. Jin gets the short end of the stick per usual but it’s funny anyway.
My apologies if you’ve read these already—the fandom is small!

What happened to Korean animation???
I can not stress this enough, but what is it with the Korean animation on most Burbank-made cartoons produced after 2015 looking so… slow and stiff???
There're LOTS more on 2s animation timing... and less inbetweening, while characters, props and effects are not as loosely drawn as they used to be before 2016.
Look at this example below of what a modern cartoon looks like when animated in Korea:
Bernard Williams ain't selling the acting well now; is he?
That episode of Craig of the Creek, "Creature Feature", was made in 2020; it was animated by Rough Draft Korea Co., Ltd. — an animation studio founded by Gregg Vanzo as a cheaper means for quality animation on none other than The Ren & Stimpy Show (Don't believe me? Thad Komorowski will tell you).
He's moving too slow. This shot is all on 2s. His arms move stiffly, and his head bobs up and down just a little bit. It doesn't sell the specific emotions he's expressing as richly as they could... compared to something like classic Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows of the past. The overseas animators should listen to the audio track, the recorded dialogue. That's what they did on on Ren & Stimpy!
Now let us to go back 10 years before Rough Draft animated that episode of Craig of the Creek... to another Cartoon Network Studios original that Rough Draft animated, the Sym-Bionic Titan episode "The Phantom Ninja":
LOOK HOW LOOSE AND SMOOTH THIS LITTLE BIT OF ANIMATION IS! ☝
This level of Korean animation quality was normal for TV cartoons back in the 2010s.
This one shot has a healthy balance of on 2s animation and on 1s animation.
It's just Ilana Lunis and Octus doing a bit of a... I don't know... a shrug... giving Lance a certain look. Not even talking in this shot, nor is it an action sequence, and this little bit of acting looks far better than Craig of the Creek ever animated in general.
Rough Draft also animates on Spongebob and they're struggling but usually excelling on the animation quality overseas.
This applies to cartoons made and aired before 2016 where post-2105 episode/content are the same quality as most post-2015 cartoons shows these days that're animated in Korea; examples are Uncle Grandpa, Samurai Jack Season 5, The Venture Bros. Season 6 onward, We Bare Bears Season 2 onward, and even later Disney TVA shows as Amphibia Season 3, The Owl House (even Luke Weber noticed the degrade in animation quality) and Hailey's On It! (excluding 2/3 of the first episode)... though mostly it involves Warner Bros. Discovery-owned properties - Turner Broadcasting System-based ones namely.
Now what are the reasons for Korean animation quality since 2016?
In the case of some post-2015 episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, the issue might be TIME, since it's a popular franchise which, among other new Nicktoons these days, Nickelodeon is trying to dump out on TV as fast as humanly possible. The Patrick Star Show seems to rarely suffer from this, however; only few episodes like "The Commadore Episode" were animated mostly on 2s and more stiff than loose - there just might not've been time for retakes, although TV and certainly streaming platforms tend to dump a bunch of episodes out all at once. Those that're animated in Korea would probably suffer from this business practice. Why can't we just put new episodes on every Thursday, Friday, or Saturday... with breaks in-between instead of not stopping until the season is over? That reminds me that most [adult swim] shows tend to have 6 or 10 episodes per season.
On the other hand... may be that Korean animators just need a break. Perhaps the Korean overseas facilities need more money... more direction... more communication... more retakes (as if we could actually afford all or any of that with today's gas prices?). Most American cartoons, which are typically animated in California (namely Burbank), are animated overseas in Korea — more so than any other country, Asian or not. Could America be overworking the Koreans? It's a possibility. Additionally, in 2024, there were some leaks that suggested that other studios had people in North Korea contracted for overseas animation work, and work between the US and the weapon-protected North side of Korea is forbidden.
Instead of overworking Korean animators, why not animate domestically here in America? In Burbank? When America had domestic animation for TV shows crippled, Japan became one of the most popular of overseas production facilities... until they became too premium for America, and America had to resort to other Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and in some cases even China. In my opinion, the Philippines can deliver better animation (a bit roughly but still better than Korea for the most part) for the US! Taiwan isn't as involved with Burbank animation anymore, and China rarely does anything except to animate for some shows like Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Mike Young-era Clifford the Big Red Dog. Speaking of Rough Draft Korea, however: Hanna-Barbera sent John Kricfalusi overseas to Cuckoo's Nest Studio/Wang Film in Taiwan to train the assistant animators there in acting, animation, and layout on the 1980s' episodes (or is it a reboot?) of The Jetsons. All that John K wanted to do was character design, but he ended up doing a lot more on the show — and for an overseas Asian animation production facility prior to the founding of Rough Draft Studios!
What about rigging (puppetry in 2 dimensions), though? The future of quality TV/non-theatrical 2D animation may be in the hands of Canada's and Ireland's finest riggers. Mercury Filmworks, Boulder Media, Lighthouse Studios, Snipple Animation, and Jam Filled Entertainment can deliver better animation through rigging than Korea can do for most hand-drawn shows!
That is unless it's the Spongebob Squarepants franchise of course... that and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? and... pretty much anything animated by Yearim or Yeson (most of which are adult cartoon sitcoms with rather restricted animation so as not to distract from their comedic wordplay, since those shows are more script-driven anyway).
I asked some people about the current condition of Korean animation to see what they think about that. Maxwell Atoms had a good bit to say...
The What's in My Head? podcast interview with Randy Myers largely benefited from a question I suggested on Twitter/X about the animation quality differences between the first 6 seasons of The Powerpuff Girls and the 2016-2019 PPG "reboot" episodes.
Ariel Vracin-Harrell tweeted that overseas animators often follow the storyboards "religiously", and tiny little micro-poses in storyboards can result in the animation looking "laggy and odd". (Perhaps those Korean animators view the storyboard animatics as key animation?)
Lauren Faust says that you shouldn't animate you storyboards. One example to illustrate effective storyboarding that isn't an animated storyboard animatic is the intro to Batman: The Animated Series.
Another possible reason for stiff Korean animation since 2016 might be that the Korean animators are trying to animate as clean (and thus on-model) as humanly possible.
I'll expand more on this post later.
Tweet thread version here.

One thing that has been endlessly fascinating to me while studying Edo-period Japan is the fact that so many assumptions made about the world are rooted in the Western perspective.
Take bread, for example.
I'm sure you've seen quotes like "bread is a universal food that exists in every country" and "without bread civilization wouldn't exist the way we know it today." That's all nice and good but not necessarily true across time periods and places.
In Japan, bread was first introduced by the Portugese in the mid-1500s, but it didn't actually catch on until much later.
The oldest surviving Japanese bread recipe was written down in 1841 by Egawa Tarozaemon, governor of Nirayama, teacher of Western gunnery, and builder of coastal artillery defenses.
Tarozaemon's bread recipe (from Yahoo News).
Tarozaemon's 1841 bread recipe is for a German sweet bread and substitutes amazake for the yeast and sugar content of the original. However, the written recipe does not include amounts for any of the ingredients, making it somewhat difficult to replicate without much trial and error.
The researchers studying Tarozaemon's records speculate that it was actually his mother who had an interest in baking and who was known for her excellent castella. They believe she may have been interested in other Western recipes and Tarozaemon, who employed at least two scholars of Western learning, might have been happy to oblige by copying recipes for her to try.
Alongside the German sweet bread, Tarozaemon also wrote down recipes for a kind of hardtack to be used by his troops, and two kinds of confections, which were perhaps more suitable to his mother's baking interests.
One bread-like product introduced to Japan by the Portugese did catch on: castella, a kind of sponge cake still popular today.
Matsudaira Mikinosuke and friends enjoying enormous slices of castella during the late Edo period.
During the time of Tokugawa Iemitsu, castella was served almost exclusively to the emperor and foreign envoys. By the time of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, its popularity had spread across the country, but it was still only available to the upper classes of high-ranking samurai and wealthy merchants. That's because it was made with expensive ingredients: specifically, eggs and white sugar. It finally became widely available to the masses by the end of the 1700s.
Edo period castella was more crispy than today's moist and fluffy Nagasaki-style castella. Described as a "simple, crispy pound cake", it was commonly eaten alongside miso soup or with grated daikon and wasabi.
Fun fact: castella was also used as a nutritional supplement for tuberculosis patients.
...
Speaking of eggs and their expense:
Even with today's soaring egg prices, eggs in the Edo period were more than 20 times more expensive than they are in 2023. By the early 1800s, an individual egg cost 20 mon, while a whole bowl of soba only cost 16.
The reason eggs were so expensive is that people did not generally raise animals for consumption until the very end of the Edo period, though that didn't really take off until the Meiji period, which is when we first see large-scale egg production in Japan.
People did keep chickens during the Edo period, specifically for their eggs and not their meat. In fact, many lower-ranking samurai raised small flocks of chickens to supplement their incomes by selling the eggs, something that had been encouraged since the time of Tokugawa Iemitsu. However, chickens at the time were not bred to produce large volumes. They often did not lay eggs regularly, and sometimes did not lay at all if the weather was particularly hot or cold.
Eggs, as well as meat, were often considered medicinal - something you purchased for a sick relative or to increase your own strength, though in many cases the primary reason for the medicinal label was getting around the feeling of guilt for consuming them, since it was frowned upon under both Shinto and Buddhist beliefs.
Even with those religious beliefs, meat was actually eaten pretty regularly in the Edo period by those who could afford it.
By the end of the 1700s, at least one restaurant in Edo specialized in wild boar, the most commonly consumed meat in the Edo period based on archeological finds. Others include deer, serow, assorted wild birds such as pheasant and quail, occasionally bears and, at times, dogs.

we are so glad to see you safe , LIEUTENANT COLONEL SYLVAIN DE LA TRÉMOÏLLE of FRANCE ! it's dangerous out in the world these days , but i hear that you are ADROIT and UNDAUNTED enough to handle it . just don't let your RESENTFULNESS bring you down ! stay on your guard , because with your secret being at risk for exposure , you wouldn't want everyone to find out YOU KILLED YOUR DOPPELGANGER AND ASSUMED HIS IDENTITY .
BASICS .
BIRTH NAME : émile zhihao sun .
FULL NAME : sylvain lucrèce de la trémoïlle .
NICKNAMES & ALIASES : VIVI and SYLVIE are both childhood nicknames employed by members of the la tremoille family . their mother would sometimes call them EMMY when they were young .
TITLES & OCCUPATION : lieutenant colonel of the french armed forces , heir apparent to the duchess of thouars . comfortable being referred to by his military title or " my lord . "
BIRTHDAY & AGE : november 14 ( 35 ) .
GENDER : demi man .
PRONOUNS : he / him / his and they / them / theirs .
ORIENTATION : bisexual biromantic , polyamorous .
STATUS : unwed .
LANGUAGES SPOKEN : french , mandarin chinese , spanish , others .
TRAITS : adroit , undaunted , resentful , magnetic , duplicitous . neutral evil .
INSPIRED BY : patrick jane ( the mentalist ) , mizu ( blue eye samurai ) , charles sun ( the brothers sun ) , the prince and the pauper , the cain complex .
HISTORY .
TL;DR : a man born with nothing schemes seeks everything they ever wanted , no matter the price / an injured wolf found at your doorstep — you may let it in , may nurse it back to health , but remember that a wolf will always be a wolf .
born in china , the product of a torrid love affair between a local woman and a sailor . émile quickly learned that they had an older brother once ; their mother's son , from well before she met émile's father . he was gone long before they were born , yet his ghost haunted the child nonetheless . nothing they did seemed to be good enough for their mother , as she cited all of their older brother's feats at their age .
eventually , émile and their mother uprooted their lives and set out for france , their father's home country . they never found the man , but their mother became a laundress for the duchess in a city called poitiers , and there , émile met the duchess' eldest son , sylvain . the first remark , even before greetings , was that their resemblance was uncanny .
as the children played together , puerile antics led to a proposition : to switch clothes , to switch places . with noble parents and an overworked , perpetually grieving mother respectively , the ruse wasn't so difficult to keep up . especially when sylvain was allergic to study , content to live out his days mingling with the common people instead . so émile spent swathes of time in sylvain's shoes ( and pants , and shirt , and the rest of his clothes ) . they even studied his reading materials in their free time , as themself .
the duchess noticed the apparent change . her son , who had suddenly taken an interest in his lessons , in being her heir , became her pride and joy . and émile , masquerading as sylvain , basked in her praises , things they were so unaccustomed to hearing from their own mother .
as sylvain and émile approached young adulthood , their similarities were becoming fewer and far between . they were becoming their own people , and ideas had been swirling around émile's mind for quite some time . they already spent so much time as sylvain , were clearly worthier of the title he was born with . so , émile devised a plan . when the two of them swapped clothes for the final time , émile led sylvain out into the forest and struck him down , marking up his face just enough for his identity to be ambiguous . then , they ran .
at 20 , émile returned to poitiers — claiming to be the long - lost sylvain . no longer a boy , but a young man , surely he'd gone through enough change that his appearance would hold up to scrutiny . weaving together a story was much simpler , anyway ; already able to answer obscure questions about boyhood , any gaps could be easily filled in . and the duchess fell for it wholeheartedly .
once settled in , they expressed interest in enlisting in the army , despite the duchess' protests . she'd only just gotten them back , why must they leave again ? but they insisted , citing a family history of military service . really , though , they wished to feel wanted for something . something they couldn't find neither in poitou , nor as they wandered the far corners of the world . so , after completing their studies , off they went . over time , they rose through the ranks as a member of the cavalry .
but recognition for their martial achievements , evidently , wasn't enough . not before the reckoning , and certainly not after . they needed more , and set their sights on more lucrative targets , and on opportunities outside of the country he had come to call home .
HEADCANONS .
wanting to one - up the brother he never knew propels nearly every aspect of sylvain's life .
sees his biological mother on occasion , as she's still on the la tremoille payroll after all these years . sometimes he wonders if he needs to tie up that particular loose end , but it's been years since he's seen any spark of recognition in her eye . which just … makes him feel even worse tbh . but there's still an innate desire within sylvain to win her favor .
the la tremoille family is known for its influence — as military leaders , as politicians , as friends to the orléans . they've been a fixture of the french court for centuries .
being a cavalryman , they are also , naturally , a horse girl ( gender neutral ) . they've got one mount with them : their war horse , areion . normally , they also have at least one hack for everyday activity , but considering the distance from home , and resources required to spoil take care of multiple horses , they elected to only bring areion along .
has fully adapted to living as sylvain , and doesn't even react when he hears the name " émile . " rarely , overhearing " emmy " seems to get a moment of pause out of him , but it's more confusion than anything else . he'll shrug it off as hearing the name of " an old friend . "
NAME & ETYMOLOGY .
ÉMILE : french form of the roman family name aemilius , which is derived from the latin aemulus , " rival . "
ZHIHAO : from chinese . it combines 志 ( zhì ) " purpose , will , determination , " and 豪 ( háo ) " brave , heroic , chivalrous . "
SUN : from 孫 ( sūn ) , " grandchild , descendant . "
SYLVAIN : french form of silvanus , derived from the latin silva , " of the woods . " silvanus was a roman cognomen , as well as the name of the roman tutelary of forests .
LUCRÈCE : french form of lucretius , possibly from the latin lucrum " wealth , profit . "
( DE ) LA TRÉMOÏLLE : unknown . descended from la trimouille , the name of a village in poitou , france .
named after my second favorite blue lion from fe3h .
WANTED CONNECTIONS .
HIS YOUNGER SIBLINGS ( ALSO ON THE MAIN ! ) : aware that sylvain had a lookalike when he was younger , perhaps they have suspicions about his return over a decade ago . despite any distrust , sylvain tries to be a good big brother , in his own way . they are influential at court , within france and / or abroad , as part of the ambitious de la tremoille brood . 21 to 33 .
A CHILDHOOD FRIEND : someone who knew sylvain well before he became the person he is today ( when they were still just émile ) , and doesn't even realize because he's changed so much ? but he remembers them . and in spite of all the walls he's put up , all the terrible things he's done , he still holds a tenderness for them . essentially , he'll still screw them over if he needs to , but he would think twice about it .
SHIPS IN THE NIGHT : there's a four or five year gap in sylvain's life they refuse to speak of . during that time , they traveled , returning to china for a stretch of time . if someone crossed paths with him at the time , they would have witnessed a young man trying to find purpose , seizing every opportunity they could to get ahead , and fighting to survive .
ENEMIES & ADVERSARIES : not eager to burn a bridge unless he absolutely must , that certainly doesn't mean sylvain is without enemies . i'd also love to see someone he spurned in his pursuit of power , maybe turning down a betrothal with them in favor of finding a royal to marry instead .
#theopulent.intro#sylvain : countenance#sylvain : musings#sylvain : study#sylvain : task#sylvain : answered#sylvain : mentioned#sylvain : wanted#(wanted to use fresh gifs for everyone but i fear these are too iconic to me specifically)#ch: sylvain

Fate/Samurai Remnant - TREASURE BOX
Should you get this limited edition?
Absolutely not.
More info under the cut!
General info
Version: Physical limited edition
On top of the 2 standard editions (physical and digital), there are 2 "deluxe" editions - physical (Treasure Box) and digital (Digital Deluxe). There aren't any higher tiers, but both deluxe editions differ in content.
Normal price: $59.99 Limited edition price: $114.99
That's $55 for just the bonuses. For this price, you could almost buy a second copy of the game.
"Bare minimum"
Game: Included (Nintendo Switch, PS4, or PS5),
Special box: Included, the design is not known,
Soundtrack: Included, not the full soundtrack. "Over 10 carefully selected songs are included on the original soundtrack CD (1 CD set).", as opposed to all songs in the Digital Deluxe version,
Artbook: Not known, presumably not,
Actual bonuses
"Fate/Samurai Remnant material": Only concrete information is that it contains short side story about the characters of the main game. (Despite Nasu not being the writer, it is about food.) Not known if it contains any artwork.
"Official Short Story Translation Booklet": Genuinely a really cool touch. However, it is only regarding the short story.
"B2-Sized Cloth Poster": Koei Tecmo's staple for limited editions.
"Command Spell Stickers": ...yeah, stickers.
"Box Bonus Costume DLC Code": ...quoting the website, "Costume DLC may become available for purchase or free separately at a later date.". Presumably not the same as the pre-order costume.
Extra information
It is known that the game will already have 3 DLCs. They are available in the Digital Deluxe version, but not here - to experience all the content, you will need to buy them (or a "Season Pass") separately.
All in all
Very underwhelming. For an additional price of $55, you get partial soundtrack, a short story and its translation booklet, and genetic and cheap knick-knacks. In addition, it doesn't include the DLCs - unacceptable for this price. Do not buy.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge welcomes a new DLC
Dimension Shellshock DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a worthy addition to the game on Linux and Windows PC. Thanks to the ongoing creative efforts of Tribute Games Inc. Available on Steam with a discount and 86% Very Positive reviews. We are now diving into fresh content, the "Dimension Shellshock" DLC for the acclaimed, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge". There are some surprising new features in this new DLC on Linux.
The DLC Content
Survival Mode: This isn’t your typical survival feature. In Dimension Shellshock, players will now collect crystals. Each of these crystals lets you hop from one dimension to another. Each is due to have its distinct design and feel. The more you advance and level up through these dimensions, the more powerful you become. Gather enough of these crystals, and you're rewarded with extra lives, enhanced power bars, the "Radical Mode", and some bonus health points. There's also a feature where if you're skilled enough, you can bypass certain dimensions.
New Characters: Two iconic figures join the roster in Dimension Shellshock.
Miyamoto Usagi: If you’re a fan of comics, you might know him from "Usagi Yojimbo". A samurai rabbit who’s had his moments with the Turtles in various media, from animated shows to toys.
Karai: She’s a formidable figure from the Foot Clan. Also notorious for her swift combat moves. While she’s known to be an adversary of the Turtles, she joins the fight in Dimension Shellshock.
Sound and Style: The musical setting gets a refresher in Dimension Shellshock, thanks to Tee Lopes. The composer behind the original tunes of the game. Plus, there's also a range of flashy colors for your characters. Due to add that extra flair to your battles.

A Few Extras
The release isn’t just about the paid content. Even if you decide to skip the Dimension Shellshock DLC, there’s a free content update. Since it gives everyone new color palettes for their characters. Thanks to the developers who know how to keep things unique.
The Bigger Picture
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a hit in gaming. Since it received attention at major award ceremonies in 2022. The content is a throwback to the classic 1987 TMNT animated series. Here, the Turtles team up with Master Splinter, April O’Neil, and Casey Jones to put a stop to Shredder’s plans. What sets it apart is its agile combat mechanics, which you can play with friends, both offline and online. So, whether you're a die-hard fan of the Turtles or someone looking for a fast-paced game, the Dimension Shellshock DLC levels up the action. Available on Steam, priced at $7.19 USD / £6.29 / 7,19€ with the 10% discount. Along with support for Linux and Windows Pc.

♡ Ko-fi link ♡
Hi! I’m Comma! I’m primarily a tnt duo fic writer and parental figure of tntblr (call me appa) here on tungle dot hell, and this blog is for my endless torment at the hands of my lovely anons (as well as memes only I find funny, political hot takes, and brainrot rabbitholes)
I’m not really one for self promos, but I guess I’ll link my Ao3 if you want to check out my nonsense (and if you can’t get enough, I have a bunch of extra content on available on my ko-fi for the low low price of whatever you want to pay /nf)
Anons are my primary source of enrichment, so never feel shy about sending one or fifty. I do not care about spam at all, and as a teacher I can confirm that there’s no such thing as a dumb question (or ask in this case). Send me literally anything. Stupid jokes, three page essays, weird takes, memes, way too personal questions, samurai death poetry. Anything. Seriously, I eat that shit up.
If you ever wonder things like “I hope comma isn’t annoyed/upset with me” or “did I piss comma off?” the answer is NO. I find it funny to act annoyed or outraged in response to things, but I will never ever respond to people in genuine anger. If anything actually bothers me on the internet, I simply don’t engage with it. There’s a lot of negativity out here, and I am not going to add to it. I am not annoyed with you, or upset or pissed off or anything else. I promise if I seem angry, it will always be a bit.
And just so you know, I am possibly the most upfront person I know, and I haven’t felt actual embarrassment or shame in about nine years. It’s great for me, but it also means that I will answer pretty much anything you ask with too much honesty. Even if you don’t realize how much you really don’t want an honest answer to something. So askers, beware.
I never know which cw/tw tags people actually use, but if you follow me and there’s a topic you want me to tag so you can avoid it, please just send me an ask or a dm. I never ever want to make people uncomfortable, so I will do my utmost to tag it correctly. It can be anything. You just have to let me know. Current tags: cw abuse: this one encompasses general/sexual adult/childhood abuse and pedophilia, I can’t have a separate tag for anything sexual bc Tumblr will straight up erase the post from existence if I tag it properly
Um... Gender. Grammatically it’s useful to refer to people, but I really don’t care about it, so use whatever pronouns you feel fit the vibes!

Wanted to get down some of my thoughts about the stories of members of the Akazaya that I haven't talked about as much here, beginning with Raizo.
The ninja is introduced being kept away from danger in Zou. In Wano, he helps to free Luffy, Hyogoro, Kawamatsu, Kidd(still remember how well his expression conveyed his feelings about being helped, so soon after he had denounced alliances too) and more from Udon. On Onigashima, he was locked in place in a battle against his enemy, and later had a scene telling how he felt chained down by his guilt for being helpless to do anything to prevent the destruction of Oden Castle in the past. It seems that freedom and the various ways it can be restricted are major through lines for Raizo's story, with most of his big scenes being centered around those ideas.
His confrontation with Fukurokuju ended with him stating that ninja should be free and not merely emotionless vassals. That sentiment works well with the wishes of Oden, placing a lot of value in being free to live how he desired, Momo saying that everyone will be free to live how they wish during his speech after the battle, and with Izo’s and Usopp's words to Kiku about not being so committed to the samurai way of life when it will only harm and restrict you. Also maybe works with Kiku being absent from the Ryokugyu fight.
For Kawamatsu's story, after facing the shame of feeling that he had allowed harm to come to Hiyori, and reasoning that he must pay the price that a shamed samurai should in his eyes, a reason he himself called foolish, Kawamatsu was given a new reason to carry forward by a little fox that hadn't given up.
Shifting to Denjiro, I'm almost positive that the reason he and Hiyori were absent for so much of the raid is that he was assisting Hiyori to complete her Komurasaki get up. Basically as a mind game to screw with Orochi. What else would he be doing? The two of them making secret plans would explain how he was able to enter the room, just as Orochi attacked. That line about women growing into their full potential by being the water at their roots works there with Denjiro and Hiyori...
...and after the battle for Kiku too, who was strangely absent during the fight against Ryokugyu, doing... something that readers have not been informed of, though she seems to have a restored left arm after the absence.
Inu and Neko's story during Wano concluded with the passing on of a role, while not the outcome many expected, as far as I am aware, ties in with the theme of the next generation following in the footsteps of the previous as they hand over the reins. Wanda and Carrot will lead Zou and help to bring the dawn? the Akazaya will one day oversee opening Wano’s borders, and Marco seems to have retired from piracy, content to let the youngsters define that world.
Oda may have struggled to balance such a massive cast though I can't help but be impressed by how well characterized each of the Akazaya are, as well as several of their allies. And their stories aren’t done, just on pause for the time.

Xbox 360 XBLA titles without Xbox One /Series X Support, still available to buy!
Following our latest video on the Xbox 360 store shutdown, here is the full list of Xbox Live Arcade games still up to buy on the Xbox 360. If you haven't seen the video you can watch it below.
youtube
With the Xbox 360 store closing on the 29th of July, this list baring the odd error shows all the XBLA games in the United Kingdom Xbox 360 Marketplace Shop. That don't work on Xbox One or Series X and will be lost for good at the end of the month. Some have Xbox One releases, but many are Xbox 360 exclusive. Now the final price drop event on 360 is due to happen on the 16/17th of July.
It seems unlikely any DLC will get reduced so the expensive Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends DLC you will just have to pay through the nose for! If we get time we will try to cover on Demand Games and DLCs next week.
Note at present we are still notes games not all games with extra download content on XBLA are listed correctly yet same with Xbox One versions of some games. As we discussed in our previous videos using the website to buy content is next to impossible and we are buy content via the Xbox 360 in console store.
Warning as per our previous video about the problems we had with the Rabbids Invasions Season Pass. We advice users avoid season passes on the service most are broken.
Any mistakes or omissions please do let us know. Drop us an email, comment or send us a tweet. Also let us know about any Japanese, North America or other games not available in the UK on XBLA and still up and we will add them. Warner Bros. Games Acquires MultiVersus Developer

Warner Bros. Games Acquires MultiVersus Developer
Warner Bros. Games has acquired Player First Games, the developer of its cross-over platform fighter MultiVersus. The price of the sale was not disclosed, but according to a press release, Player First Games will continue to operate under its current leadership of co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White.
The announcement comes only a couple of months after MultiVersus’ relaunch on May 28. Player First Games served as a work-for-hire studio on the game, and Warner Bros. is apparently pleased enough with its performance to formally bring the studio in-house. The move comes only a few days after Warner Bros. shuttered the entire mobile division of Mortal Kombat developer Netherrealm Studios.
“We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games,” said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Games. “The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”
“Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall,” Huynh said. “We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
MultiVersus is a 2v2 spin on the Super Smash Bros. blueprint that pits a variety of characters from different Warner Bros. properties against each other. It was first launched in open beta in 2022 (read our review of that version here), then taken down months later to be rebuilt and expanded before returning this year. MultiVersus recently kicked off its second content season, and it has received new fighters such as The Joker, Agent Smith, Jason Voorhees, and the recently announced Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice.

The Hidden Cost Of Ubisoft
It’s been a long time since the last Assassin’s Creed game, but we have finally gotten word of a new one in the works. In this newest installment you’re able to switch between fighting as a samurai who charges into battle or take a more stealthy approach as a deadly ninja. The biggest discourse this game has had is the fact that the samurai in question is being portrayed by a black man. Many people seem to think that this is Ubisoft shoehorning in a black character in order to seem more progressive. The issue that people should be focusing on is the fact that Ubisoft is basically preventing players from playing the game properly.
One thing that you might not be aware of is the fact that Ubisoft is granting players who pre order the game a gift. While other games will usually give out cosmetic options or special weapons, Ubisoft decided that it would be a good idea to instead give them a special quest that only they can play. This means that if you don’t preorder the game, you will be unable to play the full game. This basically forces players who wanted to wait for more information on the game to pre order now if they want to get everything.
However what is truly egregious is the actual price of the game and its content. The base game starts at $70. But if you want to get all of the content available then you must pay the hefty price of $130. While it is true that games have offered pre order dlc, the maximum amount of money you’d usually have to spend is around $80. Most people would never spend $130 for a game that they know almost nothing about, especially when the studio producing said game has had a less than stellar track record lately. This might explain why Ubisoft is offering a subscription plan where you only need to pay $18 a month to play the game. The problem with this however is that should you ever stop paying for the subscription, you will lose access to the game and thus all of your progress. You’d essentially be renting the game from Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has lost a lot of credibility lately with their biggest recent blunder being their “quadruple a game” Skull and Bones being an utter failure. That’s why many weren’t surprised by them trying to squeeze money out of players with this game. While I’m sure they’ll keep trying to find new ways to scam players, I can only hope that this article helps stop at least a few players from being scammed.
