Sorry ive been so inactive recently, I have a life that I needed to get back to for a bit! I am returning with a new hyperfixation (i am seven years late)

I drew me and my friend’s favorite characters in a silly artstyle!! We are going through the game together and we are almost done with Chapter Four (i am so scared) (ignore how tiny Rantaro’s head is) (i rant in the tags beware)

During your courtship, Jiaoqiu makes you get snakes for his pharmacy. It's quite common for couples that include at least one Foxian to hunt together so he doesn't leave you to do it alone. But this is less for the sake of tradition and more for the sake of his amusement as you jump around in long grass, holding a viper behind its head and forcefully keeping it from biting your face or arm or leg and any other body part. You really sound a bit pitiful as you yelp, nearly stepping on another one before pouncing, shouting so loud there can't possibly be anything in the way of game left within a half-li radius, and stuffing it into the special basket he prepared for you. You don't complain even once, though you sniffle when you hand him the basket, so he doesn't tease you that much.

you get the point, don't you? anyway, if i were to spell out my truest feelings without using stupid metaphors, i'd probably get dizzy from the sheer vulnerability, the sheer - audacity. i will speak in coded messages. the truth is divine and should never fall from my lips. if it did so, i would keep seeing the aftermath in mirrors, i would keep tasting it every time i swallowed - divinity is like blood in that you can't unspill it. in that when it's out it's out. in that it's not the kind of thing that should be spilled, in that i keep spilling it anyway, because that's the type of person i am. in that it stains your hands and all you can do is look down at them, and all you can do is remember it and remember it and remember it and remember it. you need to remember it, because it's what you need, and if all you can get is the aftertaste that's okay. you and me are alike - we take what we can get.

Bad magical and mental trips episodes where characters have to face their fears in a place that can make them feel real can be some of the most tense and compelling episodes.

Going from Kristen reaching out for a forgotten goddess and getting stabbed through the heart at the end of The forest of the Nightmare king to Fearful symmetry where we have to watch the Bad Kids lose themselves to fear in order to reach their goal with the thought of Kristen being dead and gone is insane.

The way Brennan asked for them to tell him their fears and then created these scenarios with so much vividness kept me teary eyed for basically the entire episode. I am thankful for the moments that broke the tension along the way.

This was a masterpiece of an episode.

Siobhan and Emily being brought to tears themselves did made me extremely fucked up. Emily sniffling and heart broken face and Siobhan trembling voice. Oof that was TOUGH and so compelling.

Almost a year ago I drew this. For the bit. As a joke. Just for funsies. Safe to say we have an answer now?? 😭

That whole new episode was a big reminder to me of why I think tadc is so compelling. Such an insane, absolutely wacky scenario for everyone involved and there is still this underlying theme that everything is way more serious than it seems. There is real loss and pain and suffering in this circus, not far underneath all the fun colours and extravagance. Its just a matter of how differently everyone behaves and is affected in the face of that.

hey terrible di fortress logistics realisations that maybe everyone else has already had, but:

di fortress uses mind control bugs

di fortress also produces a lot of dead kids.

the other mind control bugs we see explicitly depend on human brain matter to...exist? reproduce??

which leads me to two interrelated points.

is part of the reason di fortress goes so hard for death match training (other than just the cult/brainwashing uses) that they need a constant supply of human heads to keep breeding their mind control bugs? 1.1. sub horror realisation - once you start using the kids who die in training to produce more bugs to train more kids, it's a pretty easy slope from 'we need more heads for more bugs' -> 'kill more kids in training' -> 'kids who are trained more brutally either survive to be better at killing or can produce more bugs, which we need, because the attrition rate is now Very High' ->'there are twenty of you in a room, only one of you will be alive come dawn'. (and that's before you tag in any cult/religious/social reasons that influence a group in the direction of being the jianghu's no good very terrible combination orphanage/meat grinder)

is part of the reason the di fortress bugs are 'lower level' than the karmic bugs not just that they're straight up less powerful, in the way that a stick of dynamite is less powerful than an atom bomb, but also because they're being raised in the skulls of children, and thus have less access to brain matter/marrow/whatever it is they're actually eating. like island dwarfism, but for mind controlling bugs.

Present day thoughts:

Typical, Daffy coming over to Bugs' side of the forest.

Also Bugs is consistently very cheerful about Christmas throughout media, so that's neat little thing. He info dumps factoids about Christmas to Daffy in Bah Humduck. Also also! Bugs "I could explain it but it's much more fun to just watch" is so typical of him. He applies this thought process to everything. This is why his eyes tend to draw towards Daffy. And Elmer's reliably entertaining to watch because of how easy it is to toy with him.
