The Bat-Adoption Papers are literal Magic Contracts

So! In the Deified Batman AU (the AU where the Belief of the peoples of Gotham accidentally Ascended Batman to minor godhood), the Bat Adoption Papers would be a fun concept.

Batman is a God of The Night, Fear, and Protection. Specifically, the protection of Children, which is one of his biggest motivators. Meaning, it's a big part of his Divine Domain.

So when he, a God of Protection and Children, adopts his own Child? It's kind of a big deal.

His Adoption Papers basically become Magical Contracts that claim Dick to him as his own Son, basically turning Dick into a Demigod by the fact that he is the Son of a God.

Then each time Batman adopts a kid, they become a Demigod as well. Maybe after enough time, and after they forge their own Identities, they could become Minor Gods of their own? Idk, fun idea

Why do I bring this up?

Well, when Danny eventually joins the JLA, and runs into Batman, all he sees in a God of the Night, who takes one look at him, and then pulls out a Magical Binding Contract from his Belt.

Needless to say, he books it.

Standard cute and fluffy headcanons about what you would do with a Fumo of them or what they’d do with a Fumo of you, nothing too spectacular. I will say it’s a deviation from the usual Angst in my HCs which CAN make things more appealing to you if you prefer such.

And yes, the solution to the plushie issue is a smooch. Anything else would be heresy. (:

Coming to Terms With The Fact That You’ve Been Dead The Whole Time & The Person in Front of Them is an Incomplete Artificial Copy of You + Mash (I Couldn’t Fit This Title In, My Apologies.)

Basically, it goes like this. You, as a rayshift candidate, had a hunch that this Chaldea place wasn’t going to just be a one and done summer job that you could just coast and lurk through. Thus you began creating a copy of yourself that’ll take your place after you die to live your life for you. Due to personal life getting in the way, you don’t actually finish the automaton by the time you get to Orientation Day and well, you’re forced to carry the poor thing in a guitar case on your back to hide the thing as you travel to Antarctica, hoping to finish it before your supposed demise. After that, same old, same old. The Command Room gets blown up and the events proceed exactly as they do with one deviation. You get split up from Mash and Olga Marie, then you’re toast. But! Thankfully, you unzip the guitar case on your back, wake up the automaton and command them to cut both of your hands off and swap them. You die and the automaton takes your place for the remainder of the journey, guitar case slung over their shoulder.

We’ll be starting waaay after that, when the peeps find out that ‘you’ are not you thanks to your head getting lobbed off during a botched rayshift and you just casually putting it back on. That’s when ‘you’ explain things and then it all makes sense. Why you’re so weird when interacting with other people and why you have no clue about so many of the things around you, why you never seem to feel hungry or need to sleep—it all makes sense now.

Oh yeah, and bonus: your skeleton is in the guitar case the automaton is carrying on their back because they A. couldn’t find a proper place to bury you and B. couldn’t let the one familiar thing to them go.

I will admit, this kinda sounds more like a premise for a multi-chapter fic now that I’ve put it into words, but ultimately I am not the one who will decide the winner.

You Become a God, Madoka Magica Style & How They Deal With That:

Major spoilers for the anime inbound.

This is exactly what you think it is. Following in line with the people you’ve grown to love and cherish over this beautiful journey, them being: Mash, Romani, Da Vinci, and Holmes, you sacrifice yourself to save the world. But not by dying. No, that’d be too kind.

You’re forced to give up everything, not just the atoms making up your physical form but anything and everything that proves that you existed in the first place—all to gain the power to drive back whatever’s ending the world at this phase. This results in nothing and nobody recalling you in any form. Not even the Throne, Gaia, or Alaya remember that you exist, that’s how deep this runs. And with that power, you succeed and restore things back to the way they were before this whole shebang happened. …With a few differences.

All of your servants are now regular people living their normal lives, doing normal stuff, working a normal job, and hanging out normally with their friends and family. They all get a nice happy ending with the only cost being that they don’t recall who you are or what a ‘Chaldea’ is. Great stuff, right?

Wrong. There are two people who are not doing okay. You as you’re basically chilling in space watching over earth as basically an alien now, never to return home because that can and will cause some kind of issue and you KNOW it. The other being the folks in these headcanons: Constantine XI, Mehmed II, Sannan, Hajime-chan, and Izou. They all have their own individual sections but there will be a scenario where they all remember and how they jive that way.

Doppelgänger is Attempting to Replace You/Them:

Exactly what it sounds like on the tin. Two scenarios with a doppelgänger in them per person. I’ll go into how the doppelgänger acts, how they try and appeal to either you or them to keep them alive instead of the real one, how much time it’d take for the servants in question to figure out that something isn’t kosher with you and how they go about handling that. It’s pretty straightforward if you ask me.

Endnote: And there it is. If, for some reason, we get a tie, I will go onto a… different medium and ask the people to chose even or odd numbers to decide, most chosen breaks the tie. I will be voting myself on my personal on which one I’d like to do since I wouldn’t much like to lose votes to the See Results button. But don’t worry, I will subtract 1 (one) from that option when the poll ends.

Not going to happen because I have no trust in any of the Fate writers, but Theoderic becoming a servant and giving more character to anyone involved in the wild hunt would be amazing.

He could also add to Charlmagne's unique instance as the fictional part of Karl de Grobe if Theoderic was allowed to be part Dietrich and part Theoderic, only accepting both parts because his people were the ones to think up such fantastical exaggerations of his life.

Even if they were wrong.

Oh, and I don't think he'd be rough on Siegfried; it was Kriemhild who riled him up and goaded him into dueling Siegfried thinking husband would win against the fire-breather.

Did I mention this man was held ransom by the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire in his youth? Now you have a thin connection with Constantine to build up with.

However, if he shows up in FGO, I'd want to make sure he at least establishes some kind of bond with the last master of humanity, regardless of what it is, because otherwise (and I don't care if this is an unpopular take) he'd be no better than a background character to fill in crowds for the story, and I despise one note fillers.

Doubly so if I vouched for them beforehand as a potential compelling character.

But let's be real, any chance of Attila/Etzel/Altera/(spoiler) getting more character development means it will never be touched in the first place.

Theodoric Alter is a ven diagram, bridging Lalter's "leader/member of the Wild Hunt" and "Alter version appears first before the standard version" and Charlemagne's "split between a fictional and historical version". I don't believe he (Theodoric Alter) would become playable either, but it would be cool on how he would be built up as a character, especially with how far My Room lines have come since Year 1 (except for that one line from Summer Tenochtitlan, but this isn't here or there).

Continuation of All Roads Lead to Rome, lmao. At least Con isn't going to immediately be on the defensive compared to Mehmed II. Maybe. Probably.

I've practically given up any hope on any of the writers giving Altera anything that isn't "civilization good/bad". Yeah, I know there's a lot more to her in Extella/Extella Link and her appearance here in FGO is just a glorified cameo (that's also an out of nowhere boss), but still. Her previous self as Selphr/Velbar is the cause of two consecutive Lostbelts, but gets jackshit. I'm also aware that she's part of M!Hakuno's animations, along with Charlie, Gil, Tamamo and Nero, but again I'm not hoping for anything. At least there's fanfics...

Really happy so far with what James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed of the first part of the new DCU slate!!! :D Chapter 1 is going to be called “Gods and Monsters”. Nice to see that this will have no affect on Matt Reeves�� movies/shows, “Joker 2″, the 2nd “Constantine” films, if the CW keeps any of their DC shows for next season, and the other cartoon series as they’ll all be branded as “DC Elseworlds” from now on. They also said that “Superman and Lois” will be able to go on till at least 2025 when their movie comes out but it’s The CW’s decision and they could get a final season next season if this one isn’t written to work that way. Also they will be keeping some of the current actors after “The Flash” movie creates this new DCU with Gal Galdot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Zachary Levi’s Shazam, the “Blue Beetle” cast, Voila Davis’ Amanda Waller, and the entire “Peacemaker” cast all being confirmed to be a part of this new universe. They haven’t decided yet about Ezra Miller but I have a feeling they might just bring in Wally West as another Flash going by the new slate. So here’s my thoughts on the new movies/shows in order of how they’ll be released though “Peacemaker” season 2 is also now a part of it. The shows too will all be on HBO Max.

Creature Commandos (TV): This one is new to me as it’s a group of characters similar to the Universal Monsters that band together. It’ll be an animated show too but the actors who voice them will also play them in live action so that will be cool and it will fully connect to the other movies, shows, and games.

Waller (TV): This is the show James has been working on about Amanda Waller and it’ll include Viola Davis and fully connect to “Peacemaker”.

Superman Legacy (movie): This was the Superman movie already revealed with a new actor to be cast and we know he’ll be in his 20s and trying to live his life as a journalist and as Superman. It’s been dated now for July 2025.

Lanterns (TV): This is a new version of the “Green Lantern” show that was originally in the works from Greg Berlanti but is now being fully by Gunn and Safran. Very cool that Hal Jordan and John Stewart are going to be the leads of the first season though others will appear.

The Authority (movie): This is another I don’t know that much about but it sounds cool. I do recognize a few characters the mentioned from the comics and having appeared on shows like “Stargirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow”.

Paradise Lost (TV): This one sounds really cool as it’s a prequel about the Amazons before Diana was born. They even compared it to “Games to Thrones”. Sounds like it will still connect to Gal’s version too.

Batman & Robin: The Brave and the Bold (movie): This one got me excited as it’s another Batman movie but the Robin in this is his actual son Damian Wayne!!! :D They also confirmed the rest of the Batfamily will be in this too and starting their own movies connected of them. With Damian already here this means that Dick/Nightwing, Barbara/Batgirl/Oracle, and at least Jason/Red Hood should be around as well as Alfred. Possibly could include Tim/Red Robin, Stephanie/Spoiler, and Cassandra/Black Bat as James said these characters have been long neglected by the Batman films. Depends on what Reeves is doing too but I think they’ll be fine with Dick already as an adult here and if he’s a still a teen in Reeves’ movies/shows. They will be casting a new Bruce/Batman, so curious to find out who that will be. They also dated “The Batman 2″ for October 2025 too.

Booster Gold (TV): This has also been in the works for years and he too showed up on “Legends of Tomorrow” so it’s finally happening.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (movie): This will be cool to see too. Though not sure if Kara will still be played by Sasha Calle like in “The Flash” movie or if it’ll be a new actress as Sasha’s seems to be tied to Henry Cavill’s. They didn’t mention Sasha either as staying so might be another recast.

Swamp Thing (movie): This one has me so excited!!! :D I’ve loved Swamp Thing for years and that he’ll be in the movies again and tied to this new DCU. It’s going to be darker than the other movies and shows listed here and end the first chapter leading into the 2nd chapter.

Overall I’m really excited and glad they’re doing this more like Marvel now with such a larger plan and focusing on getting the scripts done first before they film. Also looking forward to finding out the castings as this is going to be a lot of actors.

Just finished the 2019 collection of Neil Gaiman's original Books of Magic

a story originally published in 1990 & '91.

written by Neil Gaiman with artwork by John Bolton, Scott Hampton, Charles Vess, and Paul Johnson and lettering by Todd Klein. the artwork is absolutely stunning- as is the writing, of course.

this story will never be as precious to me as the Books of Magic: Reckonings, which I read in my more formative years, but it far, far from disappoints.

reading this one, I was frequently looking things up online.

Here are some highlights (major mostly non-plot spoilers ahead)

this paragraph in the front matter: "This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to any real people (living, dead, or stolen by faries), or to any real animals, gods, witches, countries and events (magical or otherwise) is just blind luck, or so we hope." i absolutely love it when this paragraph- or anything in the front matter, for that matter- is adapted for a joke like this. very fun easter egg sort of thing.

"Sure I know her, we hung out at a few winter solstice festivals a while back, we even tried dating, of course that was before her dad and his cultists tried to gatecrash it and sell her to me as a bride. ...it really killed the mood for the rest of that last festival though".

Batmans eyes snapped to dannys face looking concerned "you met trigon? What exactly did he want from you to offer his daughter?" Danny shrugged before counting off on his fingers "Everything I could have given him basically. the ghost kings army, a physical body capable of anchoring him in reality and containing his power, access to the infinite realms... I didn't actually help him in the end if that's your concern?"

"What's the ghost kings army?" Whispered spoiler to nightwing who shrugged in reply "uh, the army of a ghostly king?" The fairies had settled on nightwings head and shoulders and were examining his costume. "Nightwing! Please be careful, those fairies are related to the cobbler elves from the fable. Unless you want to be unable to stop dancing in your old disco-wing outfit, politely decline any costume designs they suggest out of hand".

Nightwing startled stared closer at the fairies, one of them had pulled out a small measuring tape and was measuring his bodies dimensions while muttering to another one. "Huh, cool! Wait, you remember the disco-wing suit? Nobody remembers that!" "We try not to" giggled spoiler.

"My sister does, she's been secretly fangirling over you since Haley's circus. I visited her at gotham U a while back and spotted the disco-wing body pillow in her wardrobe- uh, spoiler please don't tickle Val too much, she might bite you out of sheer vindictiveness". Danny's attention switched to spoiler as nightwing and batman froze from his words.

Spoiler jumped and stopped petting the salamander "Sorry! Didn't mean to upset her". Danny smiled "oh its not that, she's just unhappy she's stuck in that form. My ex got infected with an extra dimensional parasite and to stop it from harming her and others I had to turn her into a cold blooded reptile to starve it out!"

Danny picked the salamander up and petted her gently "Valerie can't see very well and your costume is similar to the person who infected her so she might think you were vlad coming to mock her"

Constantine was grinning as he spoke up "so you turned your ex into an animal, huh, I didn't think you would have as much misfortune in your relationships as me!" Danny stared at constantine annoyed "I don't, unlike you and anyone around you. the fenton luck only affects me, i get on well with all my ex's 'and' I make sure to shield them from harm. Also my choice was turn her into a 'reptile'" danny stressed the word "or she turns into a flesh eating ghoul loose on the world. Besides, it's only one more week before her checkup then she's human again and back to bounty hunting!"

Danny turned to batman still watching him "now, since we've moved past the whole 'whose the better occultist' you mind telling me what the situation is that requires the bats on my doorstep and knowing about me?"

Batman didn't blink as he stated slowly "you know nightwings identity?" Danny cocked an eyebrow and gave his best legally blonde impersonation "what, like it's hard? If it helps nobody else will figure it out the same way. Jazz thought he had a cute butt when she saw him perform then proceeded to play 'match the butts' when he was robin. I personally put a seal on the dead so nobody would speak your identities without permission of their king. Now, again. what did you need help with?"

Constantine coughed and shuffled before speaking "uh, I um discovered recently that the demons I had contracts with sold them to someone unknown, I have to go find out who has them before something bad might happen".

"Uh huh, is that all or can you get out of my office?" Danny turned to a glowing filing cabinet and started rooting around in it. "What? No, oh no not constantine, life is cruel' or are you a 'ha, suffer hellblazer, actions have consequences!'"

"Neither, I learnt my lessons when I was younger, I'm a 'deal with this now before it's a problem later' kind of person, here. Get out of my office" danny dumped a pile of contracts on the desk "93% total contracts on a one John 'hellblzer' Constantine. 5% belongs to the ghost king and is untradable, any further attempts to sell your soul or first-born will summon a skeleton who will observe the situation then smack you in the back of the head. You're welcome"

Constantine looked stumped at the pile of contracts, you bought them from the demons? Why?"

"Bought? Those idiots can't play poker without cheating and I'm better at it. They also got sloppy when I put the crown up as prize, told them the crowns not worth fractions of a mortals soul" danny winked at spoiler "I got three magic swords, two powerful grimoires and atrocitus's stolen red power battery which I'm using to power the sun in my living room!"

"Now if you'll excuse me I have a client coming in soon who wants to talk to her departed husband, Nestor really want to tell Minnie about his time in the afterlife"

Danny shuffled them out of his office and towards the front door, nightwing put up a hand and asked as danny got them outside his door "uh what happened with trigon, he didn't just accept a no did he?"

"No, but when he threatened to blow up the festival I willingly took him to the sarcophagus of eternal sleep and gave him the key... then I pushed him into it and locked it again, now pariahs got a room mate"

"Ta ta!" Was the last thing said as danny closed the door

Bonus: how danny treats pariah (and now also trigon) in the sarcophagus of eternal sleep.

"Oh, fuck no." The door is slammed, unfortunately for him, the guy stuck his foot in the jamb and pushed it open again.

"C'mon luv!" Constantine smiles charmingly, not waiting for Danny and entering the apartment.

At least Batman, Nightwing and Spoiler had the patience to wait for him to invite them in. Sagging against the door, he beckoned them inside.

Despite the caution, Spoiler gleefully stepped in, looking around like a child in an amusement park— which might not be too far off.

His apartment is, with all its wards and enchantments, very magical inside than it is outside.

The planetary system of another world, used as light for the living room and for practice.

(Nightwing is careful with what he touches. He still remembers the hours they spent in Mumbo Jumbo's hat.)

Batman on the other hand is following Constantine and Danny to what he assumes to be the office, if the amount of magical stuff carelessly laying around means anything.

"Alright fucker, what are you doing here? And how did you even know I live in gotham?"

John had the audacity to look abashed, scratching the back of his head with a nervous chuckle.

"Something came up and you know Gotham doesn't like me. She is much more used to you and I wanted to introduce bats to you, in case of emergency."

The young adolence stares owlishly.

(How did Constantine expect him to act at the fact that he's trusting a magical situation into the hands of a stranger?

Batman isn't sure how good the boy even is!)

"That's incredible thoughtful of you Connie." Danny hums. "What did you lose for your sorry ass to come here?"

Spoiler snorts, petting a red salamander. "He didn't lose anything." She reassures with a wave, giving an exaggerated smile and raising her brows to show that she's finding it very amusing.

Constantine sputters.

"Ancient knows how Zatanna and Raven deal with him."

Nighteing perks up from the side where he'd looked over the books, some pixie fairies(?) fawning over him? "Raven? You know her?"

Danny suppresses another sigh.
