My personal take on the casting and possible story for orv movie(s) is I'm interested to see how they take this but I'm also nervous. Sure I can make the same points everyone else has made about the main cast with everyone wanting Im Siwan as Kim Dokja or Lee Soohyuk as Yoo Joonghyuk. However I want to state my own opinions.
I'm interested in seeing how well Jisoo will play Jihye considering this is her first acting debut and she's read (supposedly not sure how 100% true this is) and is a fan of orv
Since this movie is being split into 5 different movies I'm wondering how much actual detail they'll keep in the movie and if they're sticking very closely to the webtoon/novel
I disagree with how the media portrays the webtoon as the sole work and completely discredits SingnSong
I wish that they wouldn't use Jisoo's name to push the movie because it seems like they're almost making her out to be the main character when her character is more of a supporting cast
I hope they strictly keep the "no romance" in the movies and don't try to force two characters together
I really hope they don't make Lee Gilyoung a baby or toddler because there has been speculation online that they might cut out Gilyoung and Yoosung due to finding actors
I think going with A-list celebrities and actors was not the move because they could've gone with better and more accurate idols
I'm also wondering how the scenery in general is going to look especially with the CGI and how much it's going to affect the look of it especially since there's been something done similar with Sweet Home
All in all I don't have many expectations for this movie other than I hope it doesn't end up looking like the resident evil movies…
I do think fandom wars are really stupid though from both sides. There's no reason bp fans and orv fans and kdrama fans should be fighting. Sure people can discuss the casting and the novel and how much it means to them but I've seen so much unnecessary hate to the fans and actors/idols. I've also seen kpop and kdrama fans being cruel to orv for expressing their own opinions on the casting and other things. People are allowed to like/dislike things for their own reasons especially since the movie hasn't even been released yet making hasty assumptions like that is stupid. Whether someone is going to watch the movie or not is their own choice because I feel like something similar is going to happen to the anime adaptation and LA.
My final take is that orv would've worked better if it was solely an anime adaptation rather than a movie and LA because visually I think it would work better that way and it gives more animators more opportunities to work on bigger projects. However I am willing to watch the movie if it releases on a streaming service or something.

Okay so the entirety of the WEBTOON is out and so is the KDrama. Both have, in fact, been out for a bit, but I needed to get my thoughts together. Obviously, if you haven't interacted with either piece of media, this is going to be a spoiler it. I'm specifically going to be talking about suicide and the way it's used in the WEBTOON as this particular character backstory and subsequent original death were both changed a lot. If you don't want to read about suicide, fictional or otherwise, or you don't want spoilers, please don't read on.
And if you want to know what's going on or want to know the full context of the WEBTOON because you've either never engaged with the material or have only watched the show? I recommend reading the comic on manhwa instead of WEBTOON since manhwa seems to be totally free. And in order to not take a while (plus lot of ads since you get 1 free chapter per day + 3 ad chapters that last 3 days) to read it there, you'll need the webtoon app and 15 bucks. And no matter what WEBTOON is gonna really yell at you if you do even a single screenshot.
Okay, to start off with, there are some things that don't change for Mr. Yu regardless of medium. No matter what, at the beginning he's seen as cold and distant. He's also extremely buttoned up and more than a little bit awkward around Jiwon to the point where he actually seemed suspicious to me at first because he was just always around when something was about to happen, and Jiwon did not know why that was happening, so neither did I.
It takes until chapter 46 of the WEBTOON for it to be revealed that Jihyeok also traveled back in time and died before. Up until that point, his goals and motivation are still somewhat mysterious. Even though they are like, fully dating by that point. But I don't consider that the biggest change. After all, the WEBTOON is from Jiwon's POV mostly, and the show took a much more widespread approach, which made sense. Also the show had to condense the entire comic into like, 16 episodes. That's a lot to get through.
So here are the things that I actually consider the biggest changes to his character and I promise I'll explain why those lead to the writer's choice of death for him making way more sense for that version to me.
1.) Jihyeok has known that he was romantically interested in Jiwon since before they officially spoke to each other in college. He even specifically saves Pang (the cat) because Jiwon liked that cat and he saw her interacting with that cat. He even saved the cat for her after Jiwon's ex poisoned the cat (yeah, she's literally always had terrible taste in men before Jihyeok).
2.) He quit his job at U&K after Jiwon married Minhwan in an attempt to move on because he still loved Jiwon. Probably wouldn't have been good to be the boss over the newlywed couple you're secretly like jealous over.
3.) The day Jiwon dies, Jihyeok goes to visit her because he learned she'd fallen ill. He sees her take a cab away from the hospital and isn't sure if he should go talk to her. And then he hears a scream and arrives just in time to see her die. He is devastated and arranges and pays for her entire funeral while wishing he could give his own life to go back to fix his own mistakes. Like literally. We get this information extremely clearly.
I think all of this combined with the fact that otherwise in his life, he's made no other choices for himself, makes Jihyeok killing himself make a sort of tragic sense. And also I've seen people say that there was 'no reason' for him to kill himself, and I've just got to wonder if the people who said that read that chapter at all. He literally says multiple times across 2 flashback chapters why he wants to die. Like I don't agree with suicide, but as someone who has battled, and is still battling, depression my entire life, and knows what it's like when it feels like your life has been kind of chosen for you? Going through a situation that he did has got to be devastating. Like in a completely soul crushing way. And if you have nothing to anchor you in life, it's not surprising when that life ends in heartbreak.
And from a literary standpoint there is something deeply tragic about a man who didn't truly make a decision for himself until it was too late and so the only choice he actually makes is how and when to die. The show has a different sort of tragedy in that he never decides how he lives or dies in the show for his first life. I believe my interpretation is further supported by the webtoon making his new life filled with choice. Like a lot of choices.
He is constantly making actual decisions in his new life.
He actually pursues Jiwon, he stands up for himself and others more at work, he actually ends things with Yura and gets her sent away pretty quickly (she doesn't die in the novel and straight up isn’t in the WEBTOON), and then he actually quits for the right reasons. He quits because he never wanted to run U&K in the first place, so he goes off to run his own company and leaves his sister to run it since she's the one who wanted that life. And she's better at it.
And I honestly think the show makes his character a little weaker for not having his arc focus on his choices, both good and bad. That's not to say he doesn't start making choices in the show, but it's more along the lines of 'I'll actually commit to this choice other people made for me'. Well, with the big exception being marrying Jiwon.
Jihyeok's decision to take his own life wasn't a good decision. It's not one I can agree with in real life, but from a writing choice, I like it for the story way more than a random car accident. I like the implications for the character and his arc way more if it's intentional. I think it's a stronger choice if this time he chooses to live and not to die. And also I really liked how it got then mirrored in Minhwan inadvertently killing himself with what was supposed to kill Sumin. I feel like overall the deaths in the WEBTOON in general, but especially with Jiwon, can be governed by the idea of choice, and the show lost that a little bit.
Also in the comic he literally opens his eyes and the first thing he hears and sees in his new life is Jiwon and you cannot tell me that's not the cutest fucking thing.

Hello.... I found your matchmaking event quite interesting. Can you match me with someone from Seventeen/Stray Kids/TXT?? My birthday is on February 13th and I'm an Aquarius. I'm very into clothing but I usually wear jerseys and baggy pants. I like to write, read and listen to music. I really like animals like cats, koalas and pandas. I consider myself as a sporty person as I go for Karate lessons. I'm an ISFP. I love to eat Italian food like pasta and spaghetti. My ideal type is someone cute, playful yet can be romantic, sexy and mature. I also prefer someone who reads and listens to music. I have very short hair, like Soonyoung in Super so people sometimes think I'm a guy. I also like photography, anime, webtoons and manga. I like to watch ancient romance kdrama. In the future, I want to become both an editor and an interior designer. I like Harry Potter and my Hogwarts house is Ravenclaw. I listen to Weekend and Shawn Mendes. I'm very single and I've been single my entire life so I'm inexperienced about love or dating. I watch BL drama and every year there's a phase where I can't watch anything other than BL drama. I'm a night owl and I stay up until 2 to read even if I have school the next day. I study quite well. My favorite subject is English. I can speak a few languages fluently like English, Tamil and Malay. I understand a very teeny bit of Indonesian, Korean, Telugu, Chinese and Japanese. I like to give advice to my friends and most of the time my predictions about what's going to happen is correct. My love language is quality time and I like to give meaningful gifts to my loved ones. I'm very lazy but I like organizing things because I can't stand looking at untidy places. I guess that's it. I hope it isn't too hard...
hello, i’m just now seeing this and i’m incredibly sorry. The matchmaker event is no longer available. It was a special event I had put on to celebrate my 300 follower milestone around this time last year. I understand that the initial post for the event doesn’t have years on the dates for the submission which might be where some of the confusion has come from. Once again, I’m real really sorry, genuinely that this is not something i can do for you :((

ive been reading the cheese in the trap webtoon alongside a rewatch of the kdrama! im really enjoying it. currently starting s4 of the webtoon and on ep 12 of the kdrama:
the webtoon makes it way more obvious that seol is also into jung. in the kdrama, it feels like the attraction is more one-sided there
seol is more...idk. sassy? angry? in the webtoon. i love both versions, but i feel like webtoon!seol is a better match for jung, and drama!seol is a better fit for inho
inha is way more interesting/layered in the webtoon, although i dont mind watching lee sung kyung chew scenery
i loooove the cinematography in the kdrama as well as the styling. the production did a great job of having the same feel as the webtoon while also doing some interesting things with framing and pan outs. the color palette is A+ too
it is so weird to me that seo kang joon/baek inho is styled exactly like hong joon/the lil bro in the webtoon?
joon in the webtoon:
baek inho in the drama:
the earring even matches?
im not done with either the webtoon or the rewatch, but imo it’s a pretty well-done adaptation considering the time constraints faced by a 16-ep drama versus a 300 chapter story
that said we all know the drama ending :| hopefully the webtoon ending is better

Nevertheless, I still...understood the ending even though it was not what I was expecting.
Welllll, what can I say about kdrama Nevertheless.
I didn't know what to expect from this kdrama because I never read the webtoon. But once I caught up to the webtoon ending, I did get a different vibe while watching the kdrama. While the webtoon made Jae-eon into a real jerk, the kdrama gave him boyfriend vibes without being recognized as the boyfriend.
Although I was not expecting that ending, Nevertheless is still one of my favorite kdramas ever. Despite all the online negative responses ( i.e. toxic endgames), I can't seem to not forget it. Nevertheless, I still liked it for how it was beautifully shot and also that awesome soundtrack (I'm talking about those Rio songs! 🥲)
In a way, I was expecting it to be like the ending in the webtoon where Na-bi chose herself and then started dating Potato Boy. But it totally changed because more emotions were displayed for Jae-eon in the kdrama. And just like some webtoon-to-kdrama adaptations, I am not surprised the endings differ (I'm talking about you Cheese in the Trap! 🪤) .
As far as Na-bi ending up with Jae-eon, I totally did not see that coming. I really thought she was going to just be on her own, go to Paris, then return and date Potato Boy. But since Jae-eon started "changing" in the kdrama (from being emotionless to showing he was heartbroken), that's when I realized that he was going to be the one for Na-bi. He did not treat her mean despite him being vague with their limits of the friends with benefits relationship. I agree with Jae-eon when he told Na-bi that she makes the decision in the relationship. A woman only lets a man go as far as she allows him to if consensual.
Jae-eon did not force her into anything but he sure used some convincing words to lead her on.Jae-eon never established whether Seo-la was his girlfriend or not and Na-bi just publicly displayed Potato Boy as her dating interest. They both led on other people. They liked to let others linger. Both Na-bi and Jae-eon are no good for good people but can only be good for themselves. I think they gave each other a piece of their own medicine when they played and hurt each other.
That's why at the beginning of Episode 9, Na-bi tells Jae-eon that she is not a good person. She feels undeserving of the goodness of Potato Boy. How to appreciate what is good if you've never had something good?
Which is why I think that Jae-eon and Na-bi ending up together at the end made sense. She likes him and he likes her. Neither of them will change. Na-bi will always have doubts and insecurities. Jae-eon will always be a flirt. That's just how their relationship is going to be. Whether it lasts or not, it doesn't matter to them. They just want to be together and go through that experience together however long it lasts.
This is not to say that type of relationship is healthy, but that's just how life is. Nothing is ever perfect. We've all seen people in real life toxic relationships and they stick together for years, whether we agree with them or not. Not sure if I consider their relationship as toxic. ( The boyfriend she dumped in Episode 1- he was the real toxic deal!) Every relationship goes through ups and downs. Na-bi & Jae-eon hurt each other equally.
What I liked about this kdrama is that Jae-eon and Na-bi’s obstacle is themselves (not some chaebol, opposing family, or long lost love). They created the rules of their own game: a game where they thought they knew how to play but both won and lost the same.

“So pretty… Did you wear these for me, my paradise?”
He’ll caress your clothed folds while he kisses you to avoid loud moans. The way he slowly pushes his fingers inside and out is truly unbearable, but knowing Satori his patience wouldn’t last that long especially if you just go around and tease him all day.
“Ya’ know teasing me would not end up good...so try to stay as quiet as you can hmm?”

hiii hanyi!! ive tried writing this like 5 times idk if you got the other ones bc they wouldn't send if you did ignore them XD
I'm your secret santa from ccnet! this ask is gonna be all over the place because im too excited about this event, we have a few things in common!
first of all your header is beautiful!! did you see the jjk vol 0 trailer?? whos your fav jjk character?? (im obsessed with nanami rn)
do you read manga or just watch anime or both?
i just finished tokyo revengers yesterday and i cried! i loved it! who are your favs from the manji gang? i love baji and chifuyu (little bebe)!
kmy season 2 is coming soon are you ready?? IM NOT 😭 who are your favs from kmy??
also what are your fav colors? do you have any anime or film recs for me? what kind of music do you listen to?
ok thats all for now if you watch kmy season 2 as it comes out we can scream about that together sdkfjks as the event nears XD. The more asks i send i'll end them with this emoji 🎄 so you know its me :))
have a nice day love <3
omg helluu!!! alkslkdf this is the first ask I'm getting from you I guess tumblr ate the previous ones up (`皿´#)
(your excitement is rubbing off on me omg)
thankyoooooo~ (*/▽\*) yes I did (see the jjk vol 0 trailer)!!! I like gojo and maki and nanami (*tsudaken*) as well hehe but cough yeah full disclosure (and related to your next question) I'm responding solely based on where the anime is up till currently because I very rarely read manga (I have a Very Bad track record of keeping up with any form of reading material that isn't complete yet and I can't binge at one go ▓▒░(°◡°)░▒▓ the only manga I miraculously managed to finish was kny ahahahaha)
omg yes season 2 tokrev when hello that cliffhanger _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):_ (I'm assuming - again... haven't read the manga... - he will go back in time again and prevent chifuyu's death...?) I like a lot of characters there but baji has a special place (╥ω╥) and that one episode for chifuyu and baji's past???? I broke (chifuyu's hair back then tho)
one of my biggest regrets is that I didn't watch kny mugen train in the cinemas because when I finally watched it at home with my headphones the audio was so damn good and I was literal TEARS (mostly because it was so painful to watch but yes also good audio) the experience would've been so much more impactful surrounded by it in the cinema (。•́︿•̀。) ANYWAY I digress season 2 yess!! (I should probably catch up but I'm procrastinating a little so I can binge since the first few episodes are more or less mugen train again oop) but omg so hyped for the entertainment district arc it's gonna be UZUI TENGEN TIME. I like giyu, kocho, and akaza - the one that really ripped me to shreds when I was reading the manga was akaza aha (ง ื▿ ื)ว (also I probably have yelled enough about it in the tags before but ishida akira as akaza is 💯💯💯💯💯)
I like red, black, and white! especially red and black when matched together it's like gothic / evil character / gonna raise hell vibes haahaha (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) what genres of anime/ shows in general do you like? other (comparably) less known anime I really enjoyed are charlotte, shiki, and noblesse (speaking of which I should really get about finishing the webtoon since it's long been completed... refer to previous point of having a Very Bad track record on keeping up with regular releases) but I don't know if they're less known maybe because they're older and/ or smaller releases... (^^#)
the music I listen to... is a mess (ノ*°▽°*) I usually switch from anime soundtracks to kdrama soundtracks to cdrama soundtracks + random chinese songs to random english songs... the one band whose songs I like... considerably more than others is imagine dragons? but even so I don't follow their news religiously so I don't know if I can be considered a huge fan... (I only went to one concert of theirs hah but then again I rarely went to concerts even pre-covid...)
okay I swear I'll start watching kny season 2 soon I also need to catch up on 2 manhuas I started reading but have been procrastinating on aslkdlflk (ง ื▿ ื)ว
ok this ended up being very rambly and long-winded (bad habit hah) have a nice day/ evening too!

random thoughts I had while watching tb ep 15
the final round of clownery folks!! let’s fucking go!
well, we’ve come a long way since episode 1 folks. these last two episodes look to be a doozy
suho’s really gone through a lot of shit. man’s literally can’t catch a break.
okay well i kind of like how this drama is actually focusing on suho and what he did when he went abroad instead of literally being gone from every single panel in the webtoon
WAIT hold on... holy shit. he was supposed to come back sooner?!?!?! i don’t feel so good fam.
oh my god he literally missed his flight what the fuck. WHAT THE FUCK this is so much more dramatic than the webtoon.
oh fuck me we’re gonna do the break up thing over the phone... not fucking okay. i’m NOT FUCKING OKAY.
okay considering they wanted to do the timeskip i’m not mad about this. like at least these two actually communicated before cutting things off as opposed to what happened in the webtoon which is when suho literally ghosted her and seojun.
ah yes kdramas and their love for overt metaphors. the chair being thrown away = jugyeong should learn to let go of her old memories of suho
not to be that bitch but it’s been almost 15 minutes and there’s literally no sign of seojun.
i’m kind of ready for my seojun x jugyeong crumbs ngl
wait i’m gonna cry this shit is actually so much more painful than the webtoon
bitch there’s literally nothing on the dress?!??! what coffee stain
soo-ah and taehoon broken up... now that’s a plot twist
there’s no fucking way that jugyeong didn’t develop some sort of attachment to seojun. like there’s just no fucking way.
DID THEY KISSS?!?!!?!?? OH MY GOD DID THEY!?!?!?!?!? OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOOD!!!?!?!!?!?/
i like how they’re doing this time skip. i really like it.
i’m waiting for the other shoe to drop (suho returning) but in the meantime i appreciate this show for giving me the seojun as main lead crumbs i have been craving for this entire fucking show
oh my god they didn’t kiss.... oh my god. i’m so glad i didn’t spoil myself earlier today. this episode got me REELING
okay jugyeong i get it... y’all not webtoon jugyeong and seojun. i GET IT you can stop rubbing it in my face
seojun is so fucking cute. i’m deceased.
okay so episode 16 is gonna be the wedding.
wait it’s so cute that seojun and jugyeong’s families have gotten so close
whoa soojin... what happened girl??
oh my god hwang inyeop has been really dialing up the cuteness this episode. my heart can’t handle this.
lol love the gender role reversal with the wedding fits. the dude knowing more about fashion than the female
this shit is so unfair. i’m literally so upset and crying inside. seojun literally gonna get his heart broken in the end this is so exhausting.
GIRL CAN YOU JUST LIKE HIM???? okay like i get you can’t force your feelings but it’s just so sad to see them both like this :(((
*sigh* still can’t get over suho huh... :(((
okay listen i’m just very much in love with drama jugyeong and moon gayoung is really doing a phenomenal job. i can’t help but pity her.
wait i was not expecting suho to be back this soon
KIM YOUNG DAE OH MY FUCKING GOD !!!!!!!! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I’M SCREAMING. MY GIRL !!!!!! THE STRAWBERRY REFERENCE !!!!! FUCKING SCREECHING !!!!!
i really wasn’t expecting that cameo at all. like i really did forget he was supposed to show up this week. i’m actually shook.
was not expecting seojun to be so fucking cute post timeskip but i am far from complaining
okay wow... this reunion scene... i’m feeling it. i feel the hurt.
okay what is up with jugyeong’s stomach?? this isn’t like... it’s been too many times at this point.
lmao so this was all a fucking joke... okay
oh geez,, i really don’t want to read what people have to say about this episode.. the pacing is quite strange. i feel like they’re trying to fit way too much into the last two episodes.
oh shit she changed it from boyfriend to lee suho. wow.
fucking breaks my heart that seojun had to be there the whole time as he watches the girl he likes being so heartbroken over the guy who left. this whole dynamic is just so complicated.
suho back on his stalker boy shit... i’m not a fan
wait hol’ up so basically we’ve completely abandoned the “selena is suho’s sister” thing???
seojun is so cute. so fucking cute. the cutest. what the FUCK why is he so cute???? this shit’s so unfair.
GIRL WHY YOU THINKING ABOUT SUHO IN THIS SITUATION???? *sigh*
i know team seojun is mad pissed right now. i feel for you guys i really do.
overall not a big fan of this episode. it was just way too rushed in like so many aspects. they could’ve wrapped the high school stuff way sooner and properly develop the time skip
OOF that shot in the preview for episode 16 of hwang inyeop’s eyes... LORD I’M GOING UP that better be in the episode
#true beauty#i'm exhausted like i'm so sad this show's ending but i just know this ending is gonna be so messy#*sigh* whatever let's just wait until tomorrow and then we can let it all out

So you want to start self-studying Korean but have no idea how or where to start? I’ve been there and hope I can help with some tips!
1. MAKE IT FUN
Memorizing a new writing system isn’t easy. Korean is luckily designed to be quite simple, but it’s still a lot of characters. If you’re starting to get frustrated, not being able to read things quickly because you keep forgetting the sounds, consider coming up with fun mnemonic devices that although not something you should depend on in the long run, are super good for pure beginners.
A couple months ago, I used this method to teach my mom Hangeul in one hour on a bus, and she still remembers them now!
(If you’d like me to let you know what all my images are for each consonant and vowel, let me know!)
2. DON’T ROMANIZE
Any website about learning Korean will likely tell you this. That’s just how important it is. The reason is because romanization doesn’t accurately depict how things sound.
For example, 가 (ga) means to go and 나가 (naga) means to go out. If you’re just reading the romanization, “ga” and the “ga” in “naga” should both sound the same, but they don’t. When it starts a word, 가 takes on an ever so slightly harder g/k sound, whereas in 나가 the 가 is more of a rounder “ga.”
Plus, there will never be a context in which knowing romanization is helpful. If you visit Korea, everything will be written in hangeul. If you watch dramas, signs and texts are all written in hangeul. Better to just learn it from day one and never depend on it. You can do it!
3. RESOURCES
All right, so what resources should you use to learn Hangeul? I think you really only need one thing - Lingodeer. They do a great job showing you stroke order, pronunciation, and multiple methods to get you to remember them. I view Lingodeer as a Duolingo that’s specifically designed for East Asian languages.
Hangeul Master is also a great book. I haven’t personally used it but I’ve flipped through it at the bookstore and really like it. The best part is that it shows you different handwriting variations for each character and how they look put together.
Some videos that I skimmed through and seem nice: TTMIK’s 8-part series (some old school 2010 Hyunwoo wow) and Go! Billy’s 90-minute series. Again, I only used Lingodeer and I think that’ll be good enough for you too!
And a video just for fun when you need a break, from Jolly.
4. READ READ READ
Once you’ve gotten the characters, it’s time to practice. Here are a variety of ways to just keep consuming content in Hangeul, even if you have no idea what you’re reading. Again, at this point just keep reading Hangeul so that you’re familiar with it and it doesn’t hold you back when you are actually studying.
Korean webtoons (I recommend Yumi’s Cells [English ver.] [Korean ver.], it’s so good.)
Sing Korean karaoke - can you read as fast as they sing? (the main karaoke company TJ has youtube videos for pretty much any song, or you can just sing along with the actual song)
TTMIK Beginner reading
TTMIK Beginner conversations
Read along to Kdrama scripts
Korean news
I hope these tips help you! Feel free to message me if you are studying Korean! It’s more fun when we study together ~ Happy studying!

Korean Resource Masterlist
Hey guys! So I’ve seen a couple of these going around (and I know how much resource lists help me) so I’ll go ahead and post my current one. Hopefully it helps someone out there!
Disclaimer: I always recommend buying textbooks, just because it’s easier for people to highlight, make notes, etc. on an actual textbook, but some of us can’t really get access to some books through schools or online shopping, so I’ll post the links I use for my books!
Disclaimer Part 2: I use a decent amount of resources. While it’s good to use a lot because it’s really hard to learn a whole language out of a single textbook, the more you use the more likely there is for overlap. Some people might not prefer this, though it is something I enjoy (mostly because I cannot sit down and study to save my life, so repetition in terms of new lessons helps me inadvertently study without having to set aside time to study. Think of it as extra practice ). But it’s all about what helps you the most!
*Note: If you guys want, I can post breakdowns of the translations of the webtoons (and Korean songs and kdramas too) as in comparing Korean and English versions and making vocab lists for each chapter??? If that’s a thing you want, let me know below! (this note is also posted below)
Textbooks
Korean Grammar In Use: Beginner to Early Intermediate
This book focuses on grammar rules. It goes pretty in depth right off the bat, by which I mean it introduces a lot of tenses and sentence types right in the beginning, but I find it’s pretty good at breaking concepts up. One of the cons of it is there’s not a lot of vocabulary lists, but that’s ok because this book is, as said, mainly for grammar rules (the link i posted also does not include the CD unfortunately)
Hello Susie! (and practice workbooks)
(I would consider this one a textbook, even though it’s not put together as an actual textbook) The link I posted lists all 6 of the units along with their workbook accompaniments. I don’t know exactly what this series is, but I would describe it best as elementary lesson plans. (simple convo, adorable pictures). It also comes with new vocab each chapter and little notes on grammar as well! Honestly it’s adorable, has cute little songs to remember some of the vocab, is fun to read, so I really recommend!
Elementary Korean (let me know if this link doesn’t work; if not it will usually come up with “elementary Korean Ross King pdf”)
So this textbook is A LOT more technical than the previous ones, in that it’s really in depth and is jam packed with vocab. However, I find that a lot of the vocab isn’t really that applicable to everyday life (which is kinda hard for the lessons, as their examples use these words). Nevertheless, the units are really informative in terms of grammar, and not ALL of the vocab is (imo) outdated.
Apps
Memrise
Memrise is a really fun app with a lot of levels of learning! It’s more of a vocabulary app instead of grammar ( I say this because it breaks up words into vocab terms but then doesn’t really explain conjugations or particles, but that’s ok!) but it still is really fun for vocabulary studying! I personally like the video-game style it uses; for those that haven’t used it before, it treats levels as little planets and you’re in a little rocket ship trying to explore, which is honestly so adorable. And it has several different Korean levels (levels that include alooot of units), so you’ll definitely get a lot of info.
LingoDeer
Lingodeer is probably a more lesser known app (I say that because I JUST discovered it recently). It’s really similar to duolingo, but only in terms of the format. It has cool features where you can hear people speak terms and can also record yourself speaking it too to work on pronunciation! It also gives notes on grammar and explains each vocab turn at the beginning of the level (each level has roughly 3 lessons) so it’s got a grammar aspect too. Bonus: add a korean keyboard and it’ll let you type out vocab letter for letter to pass a level
*A lot of studies also use Duolingo, which is also a good resource! I personally don’t use it that much, but it’s not any less of a good app!
Quizlet
I just put this on here because it’s the absolute best flashcard website/app and if you’ve never heard of it, it’s a lifesaver for both regular school classes and language study
Websites
TalkToMeInKorean (TTMIK)
TTMIK is by far one of the most used websites for Korean, and for good reason. It also divides it’s content into levels, with each level having roughly 23ish lessons. The lessons have audio accompaniment and are free online! (though you can buy book formats of the lessons and the workbooks that go with them, both of which I assume have a little more practice with the taught content than their free counterparts). Their lessons are broken into easy to understand parts s you’re not overwhelmed, and along with that the website offers occasional posts about short random vocab terms, podcasts, and Korean interviews to help you study, along with so much more! They also have an app for on the go too.
Misc
*Webtoons:
Orange Marmalade (오렌지 마말레이드) English Version / Korean Version
I just started this one, but it’s honestly so adorable from what I know it’s about a girl that’s a vampire in a society that allows vampires but also are weary of them, and she eventually falls in love with a human (?? I kinda skimmed the summary lmao). ANYWAYS, it’s good so far and I recommend! There isn’t a ton of super difficult vocab and some repetition, so it’s pretty good for a non-upper level speaker/learner. Also the drawing style is adorable so there’s that too. This one and Cheese in the Trap have both also been converted into kdramas as well!
Cheese in the Trap (치즈인더트랩) English Version / Korean Version
Ok honestly I have no idea what the summary for this is about. I know it’s not supernatural or anything like Orange Marmalade it’s more of a regular school story that surrounds a romance line (??? I’m sorry I cannot summarize). It’s got more complicated vocab so far than Orange Marmalade, but is nonetheless still a good webtoon and I also recommend :)
*Note: If you guys want, I can post breakdowns of the translations of the webtoons (and Korean songs and kdramas too) as in comparing Korean and English versions and making vocab lists for each chapter??? If that’s a thing you want, let me know below!
Youtubers:
I don’t watch a lot of korean youtubers, but the one I do watch for studying is KoreanUnnie. She has a series where she breaks down certain concepts into lessons, along with a series of cute kid songs, breaking down some kpop songs, and a lot else!
I hope this helped you guys! If you have any suggestions for other textbooks or apps or just any comments about my list, feel free to comment!

-Height (155 cm) -Zodiac/Star Sign (Pisces) -Physical Description (mid-length dark brown hair parted at the left side, dark brown eyes, wears glasses) -Personality Description (Kinda like a female version of Shikamaru though I'm not as smart as he is, I'm more interested in listening than participating in conversations, I prefer to be in the sidelines) -Hobbies (listening to music, watching anime/Kdrama, reading novels/manga/webtoon) -Usual outing clothing (jeans, shirt, comfy shoes)
-Senpai: Ai ships you with… Takahiro-senpai!
-A lucky item:
Matching phone cases with a loved one; technology is fragile, and perhaps you can be at times too. Or maybe you just prefer to be more private? Protect yourself and your phone, but keep your friends and family close.
-First encounter:
Meeting you wasn't what Takahiro thought it would be. It was very unexpected in his view. Even to this day, he has a bit of a hard time explaining it when others ask about how you two met. Yet, you have a pretty easy time since you tend to shorten the story down. He was having a bad start to his day. For some odd reason, he overslept due to his alarm not waking him up on time. The world is ending. Causing him to come late to a job, and sure enough, that pushed his whole schedule back. For the first time in his life, everything wasn't going to plan. Until his lunch break. He used half of it to catch up with his schedule. Thankfully, he didn't have any classes that day. Which gave him extra time to get some orders done and delivered. Takahiro felt a bit at ease to know he may be able to reach his shift at his next job by the aquarium if he makes it through this last order, which seems to go to his school. A package that was addressed to a small cafe by the library.
He finally reached the school's cafe and knocked on the door. No answer. Maybe they were in the back cleaning up. Takahiro did see some students heading back into class so, the lunch rush had to be over. He knocked again, and again, however, there still was no answer. Tempted to go to the office and drop off the order there (much like his patience). His eagerness to get to his next job almost got the best of him before he found that the door was open the whole time. After feeling dumb for a minute, Takahiro reminded himself that at since his mother taught him well about knocking before entering. When he steps, he notices that the room had a strong lemon scent. Caused by the cleaning supplies and warm baking pans. Takahiro kept calling for the owner, hoping they were somewhere in the cafe to sign the pink order sheet. Only putting a halt to his calls when he sees the closet door ajar. Takahiro looks in and finds the owner of that very cafe he’s in. The owner wore a stained apron as she slept with her foot in a bucket. Having her arms wrapped around an old mop while she peacefully slept.
-Interactions:
Let’s admit, you can be a bit lazy with things.
Some examples being, forgetting to or not having enough time/energy to order supplies and food. Getting you in a pickle when you were out of coffee beans. Making you rush off to the phone to put in an order. In return, Takahiro would be there to deliver your order in a quick minute. If you didn't have enough time to dial their number, you would be forced to run to the nearby corner store to pick up that extra sugar that your sweet tooth customers just needed with their coffee. Every single time when this happens, Taka would give you the “told-you-so” look (because, well, he told you so). Nagging you like a caring father would about how you should have ordered before that huge lunch rush came in, every single day. Something you always forgot about. Or you don't, but secretly pretend to just to see him a little more. With constant reminders, Takahiro is pretty shy around you. He imagines you like one of those cool kids in old school films. It seems weird to say, but you do. Your laziness would be part of your humor at times and what you claim to add personality to yourself. Your occasional slurs when tired of it was too much or too early for school made you special. Charming in a way, he would say. Takahiro would always go over and plan on what to say. Making your interactions short and sweet. On the sidelines, you try your best to help others. In the sports tournament, you rushed to different tents to help the schools and their needs. Cold drinks for the players/students or extra bandages for Haruka if he running low on them. Everyone knew who to ask for help … just after you were done with your power nap. Takahiro heard others mention how at times you could be a Level 11 procrastinator. Sleeping in class; not doing the notes the teacher gave. Resulting in asking someone to copy off. You seem to be so careless, but he knew that you were pretty hardworking when it came to the better health of others. Causing that tight feeling in his heart get tighter when you greeted him every morning.
-Confession:
Takahiro visited the café to deliver that one order you forgot to ask for this day’s service. With how much time the two of you spent with all the run-ins for rushed orders, he pretty much already knows what time he should drop off the package before you hop on the phone to call for them. He would hate for you to get worked up when you find out that you're out of coffee beans or soy milk. Weirdly enough, he sees you sprawled over one of the tables instead of on the usual blue couch hugging a pillow or in the supplies closet (where you took your secret nap at times). Under your arms was some sort of schedule, all written in your handwriting. Takahiro takes a closer look, noticing that most of them are scheduled for supplies and activitiesーa whole plan worked out for the next couple of months.
All to make sure that Takahiro wouldn’t have to do so much for your rushed deliveries. Then a small smile appeared on his face as he drops the box of supplies to the ground. Patting your head softly, taking your glasses from your head before you manage to break them in your sleep. “You’re always doing your best to help everyone,” he whispers as if you were in grade school sharing secrets about something that protected by a pinkie-promise and silly rhythm. “I just wish that- I want to be able to help you, too,” He confessed. “Maybe by being by your side.” Takahiro softly said as he continues to look down at the list. Your eyes snap open once you hear that. Scaring Takahiro, causing him jump five feet in the air, but calming down when he sees the smile on your face. Paired with a light blush. That’s the only thing he needed for an answer to his unexpected confession.
-First date/type of dates frequented:
Your first date was an impromptu one, considering how both of you have such busy schedules. Dates are nothing too fancy or anything much really for you. Much to Takahiro’s dismay because he thinks that you would deserve the best with how much you help people to the extent of your skills. Also he just really wants to treat you out at times. Some dates are just. . . . .the both of you on break from work, watching something on your laptop (from romantic Korean sitcoms or some funny seasonal anime) with some tea and biscuits you made just for this occasion. These lazy dates have become much of a norm for the both of you. Sometimes, Takahiro would ask you out to watch the opera or a play with him. It somehow ends up with him trying to conceal his laughter rather than a wonderful and ~fancy~ night out. The fact you slur your words so often when commenting at how the opera made you sleepy, made the both of you leave early at times since it was becoming tough to not laugh (You nearly fell asleep at the first song0. You would protest on how you should have stuck to the opera. Not wanting him to waste those tickets, but he would assure you with a smile that it was for the best anyways. Now you could go get some pizza. Pizza is always better than a silly opera or dramatic Victorian play, right? After getting some pizza and a Hawaiian pie for the chauffeur, the jet black limousine would go around some gardens in the beautiful city. Letting you talk or look outside as you share a pair of earbuds. Playing songs from your cell phone. In the end, Takahiro wouldn’t notice you fell asleep till he felt something heavy on his shoulder. He finally turns to see your face. Takahiro’s a mess this point. Trying to stay cool. But how can he? This dork sat in the limousine, redder than tomato. Which was weird since you fell asleep on him before when watching a movie. So this wasn’t new, yet it was. Only for him later to fall asleep as well due to the fact it was the perfect setting for a nice nap. When it was time to escorted you back home, the chauffeur opened the door to see what he thought to be the silliest young couple ever to come together. Sleeping in each other arms to the song, "Only You“ playing softly in the background.
FIRST KISS
Your first kiss with your boyfriend was when we watched a simple rom-com. The main leads finally got together after many many funny and cringe-worthy scenes. There in the rain, they share a kiss after what seems to be the cutest confession ever. It’s just perfect out with couldn't help but get filled with bubbles after that. “I want to do that,” “Do what?” Taka would ask. “Kiss in the rain”, you answer back. Collecting the small popcorn bits off the blanket you two were sharing. “But we’ll get sick. Last time you were out in the rain you nearly caught a cold.” Takahiro mentioned, reminding you how you rushed out in a storm to pick up a bag of sugar last month. “Fine….How about a- SODA KISS” You challenged. “W-What? Did you just make that up?” Takahiro asked, holding back his laughter as he set his soda after taking one last sip. The end credits rolled down as in the background played a sweet song. “.......no”, you blushed, trying to hide the fact that you did just make it up. “It’s just a kiss you give to someone if they take a sip of their soda after watching a good movie.” “Wait for wh-”. Before he finishes that sentence, you quickly leaned in. Puffing your lips out to peck his. Thinking back to how awkward and weird that kiss must have been, you hide under the blanket, that same one you were picking popcorn bits off before. (You refused to leave the couch after that. You can just live off the crumbs under the pillows as you’re wrapped like a burrito with the blanket.) SHE GOT EmBARRassED Nevertheless, Takahiro won't let you live like a blanket wrapped burrito forever. He’ll lure you out with your phone that then show you how to properly kiss someone.
-Long-term relationship:
Takahiro and you don't have that many problems. You may bicker at times about something dumb like an old married couple, but it works out in the end. If it doesn't and the fight goes on a bit long, you both drop it immediately. Both getting a sour mood for the rest of the day, only being solved if one hits the other with a text about it or when Takahiro delivers your order. Luckily, you both can’t stay mad at each other forever. Plus, you don't have time to sit around and pout about the issue.
You would approach Taka about taking some breaks when times come to be overwhelming for him, like school and his list of million jobs. He would the same with you, lending a hand if you're in trouble. Since you have a thing where it could be a bit hard to say no sometimes. So with days like that, you're stuck running around school or someone’s house to help with a project. During the process of working, you manage to lose a lot of energy very quickly. So Takahiro would always leave little energy drink for you. Reminding yourself mentally to thank him later. With work or school, you're there to comfort your boyfriend if he needs it. Which ends up with taking a nap together since you are pretty warm. Personal Heater. Maybe even watch some movies while we're at it. Takahiro, at times, would pipe up to say something about what you’re watching and you would listen intently to whatever he has to say. Takahiro would ask about your opinion on things sometimes but won't push knowing that you rather much prefer to listen to others than have them listen to you ramble about something. However, whenever you do open up, Takahiro feels like he did something good to hear your sweet voice and you speak your mind. This couple also doesn't show too much affection in public. You guys prefer to have a quiet relationship than one that people pressure at times.(Group chanted in the corner to kiss. KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS!) Which goes to the fact you aren't able to see each other much, but after a hard week, it's sweet to see your partner and catch up on shows.
Heard that in the new episode, Mary confessions that she loves David’s twin brother more than him. Who is also A HALF CYBORG!!!!!!!! WHO SAVES THE WORLD EVERY FREAKING DAYYY!!! *Cue airhorns*
After that, you guys, are a pretty chill couple. Takahiro’s father found out that Takahiro takes you with him to all the operas and plays as his date. You guys had become the talk of the company and their business partners overnight. Meaning that the group of women with their fancy and huge pearls aren’t talking about your dress or your white sneakers. Nevertheless the fact they thought you looked cute together. Reminding themselves of their younger days. He would soon ask Taka to go to even more places for him, just to get him to hang out with his girlfriend. Knowing his son’s busy schedule can get in the way of having fun at times.

Top 10 kdramas based on manga/webtoon plus The Liar and His Lover.
After Introverted Boss, TVN wil be airing The Liar and His Lover which is based on the manga by the same name (Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru) . I decided to watch the japanese movie released in 2013 to kind of prepare for it. Althought I don’t really have to since I actually have read that manga for years... literally. It’s a shoujo and as such it’s slow as hell so I’ve definitely had a love-hate relationship with it, nevertheless the movie is fun but because it was made four years ago a lot of the story is missing plus having under two hours to do justice to the manga would be asking for too much. Therefore, I can’t wait for the new drama. Also, Red Velvet’s Joy will be the lead and I’ve always wanted to see her do some acting. This might be risky though because it’s kind of a stretch to have someone do her first drama as a lead but well that’s SM for you. Since she did We Got Married I’ve been a fan of hers so I can only hope for the best in this new challenge.
youtube
Anyway, I also decided to do my top 10 favorite kdramas based on a manga! While doing this list I realized how many dramas of this kind there are and also how I’ve watched the vast majority.
Honorable Mention: To the beautiful you. Based on the manga Hana Kimi. There’s a japanese version that is more faithful to the manga and a tawianese version. The korean version has a different spin to it. It’s more fun but I never quite liked the changes they made. The lead couple were played by Shinee’s Minho and F(x)’s Sully. Overall it’s about a girl that decides to go to a all-boys boarding school to help his favorite athlete.
10. Full house. One of the first dramas I watched. Fell for Rain of course, who plays the main lead, and laughed so hard with this one. It’s a straigh up rom-com based on a manhwa.
9. Sensory couple. Also called the girl who can see smells, which pretty much describes the story. It’s a thriller and comedy packed drama based on a webtoon.
8. Goong. It’s kind of an epic drama with 24 episodes and was extremely popular. Based on the manhwa Goong that tells the story of a girl who suddenly gets engaged to the crown prince of Korea in modern times. It has it all: intrigue, romantic comedy and drama.
7. Playful Kiss. This story is based on the manga Itazura na kiss and has been done several times in Japan (anime, movies and dramas), Taiwan and Thailand. If you want a more literal adaptation you should watch the japanese version but funnily enough the korean version portrays better the main characters. This one has a special place in my heart because it was the first korean drama I ever saw.
6. Hyde, Jekyll and I. I was on the fence with the last couple of episodes but otherwise a fantastic fun drama about a guy with split personalities. It’s a 20 episode drama based on a webtoon.
5. Cantabile Tomorrow. Based on the manga Nodame Cantabile. I always say that neither this version or the japanese version are my favorite but a bit of both. I like this cast better than the one in the j-drama however I was really attached to the anime and therefore I was really upset with some changes they made. If you haven’t read the manga you can definitely enjoy this one though. Bewere! You might end up falling for Joo Won.
4. Iljimae. I watched this drama recently because I got curious after reading about Lee Jun Ki. Based on a manhwa that shows a Robin Hood inspired character who fights to protect his first love and avenge his father’s death in the Joseon Dynasty.
3. Boys Over Flowers. The teen drama for excellence. Based on the manga Hana Yori Dango. The japanese version is also really good. There’s an anime and a taiwanese drama. This poor girl-rich boy story had a huge success and gave us Lee Min Ho. I personally don’t like Kim Hye Sun here but it’s just a preference thing after all the chemestry of this cast makes this drama.
2. Scholar who walks at night. It was aired in 2015 and I’m still obsessed with several of the OSTs. For me this was a really well made drama, specially considering it’s based on a webtoon about a vampire in the Joseon Dynasty. A theme that is not that easy to relate without looking ridiculous.
youtube
1. City Hunter. Probably the drama I’ve watched the most from the list. It’s like watching an action movie. Fast paced most times and really entertaining. The chemestry between Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young was spot on and Kim Sang Joong’s acting on this one is a highlight. It’s based on the shonen manga by the same name. Jackie Chang stars on the movie and has been done several times in Japan. All the OSTs are really good. Jonghyun’s So goodbye is my favorite.

thnks for answering my asks. lol. my sister isn't watching DAYS so i've no one to talk to abt it. and i find ur drama tastes similar to mine. i'm those webtoon/drama anon you've answered a few months ago. lol. too shy to use my tumblr acc to ask. i've started law school but haven't finished since Mouse is too heavy....i ಥ_ಥ my heart dropped so many times cos of that drama. so i barely watched dramas and just started again recently. I've been reading webtoons lately.
Omgg were u perhaps the anon who recommended me to read yumi’s cells? Cause if you are, then tysmm for that rec! Although I haven’t finished it bcs of daily pass, thanks to you I was able to find out about an incredible webtoon. I 100% regretted not reading it while it was there kehfjwhd (if you’re not the anon then pretend you didn’t read any of this 🙃)
But anyways, yeah, pls do continue sending me asks about anything, whether it be kdramas or webtoons! I love getting asks so so much and I appreciate every single person who has ever sent me them. You don’t have to tell me ur username and u can stay as an anon, but what if you maybe add an emoji or a symbol afterwards so that I can recognize you? 😬 just a simple suggestion tho, you don’t have to if you don’t want to haha
I also dropped mouse as it was too heavy for me 😭 It’s actually sort of funny how I went around recommending people to watch mouse as it was a really good show (like seriously I LOVED it so much), but then I dropped it almost right after as it was wayy too dark for me lol 💀 Law school, on the other hand, although it’s also about murder, ig it’s leaning more towards mystery? Also compared to mouse the scenes are much much brighter, which is why I managed it til the end LMAO. I’m glad you started law school tho cause I swear it’s a really good show, you HAVE to finish it. It’s literally my obsession rn
Anyways it’s great that we have the same tastes in dramas haha. Again, you can ask me drama recs or my drama opinions whenever you want, and I’ll be sure to answer them! Btw what webtoons are you reading right now? Ones I’ve been currently into are my roommate is a gumiho, romance 101 (I’ve read both of those in naver I just wanted to reread it again (this time with correct translation)), and back to you (it’s not my fav webtoon but somehow I catch myself always commenting on it every single week? Lol idk man). I’m also currently reading yumi’s cells and nevertheless cause of the upcoming dramas kwhdjwhd can’t wait for those to air (yes ik nevertheless is a 19+ drama/webtoon which is why I’m lowkey considering watching it again 😭)
Lastly, thank you soo muchh for all the asks anon! ❤️
