When you're a conservation student, you're taught that every object requires intense background research before any actions are taken. You can spend several weeks finding out interesting details about an object that will inform your intervention. When you start a museum job in what we call "bench conservation" (meaning you sit down - presumably on a bench - and work on the objects), you might get given 20 things and told they need to be done by yesterday, so extra care will need to be taken and maybe extra off-work hours too! So, if you're a student, enjoy your research time! Chances are you'll never have as much of it again after you graduate. ___ Follow for more conservation and museum-related memes.

I intend for this to be my last britbong post for a while, so I don't become a one-note blog. I will get out my rant here and be done.
The posts, allegedly:
Prosecutor George Shelley said Dunn had posted three separate images. The first one showed a group of men, Asian in appearance, at Egremont crab fair 2025, with the caption: “Coming to a town near you.” The second also showed a group of men, Asian in appearance leaving a boat on to Whitehaven beach. This, said Mr Shelley, had the caption: “When it’s on your turf, then what?” A final image showed a group of men, again Asian in appearance, wielding knives in front of the Palace of Westminster. There was also a crying white child in a Union flag T-shirt. This was also captioned, said Mr Shelley, with the wording: “Coming to a town near you.”
I didn't find any source that provided the images themselves, so in light of the way British papers use "Asian" as a euphemism, I think it's likely this man was memeing about the PAKISTANI RAPE GANGS in Rotherham, Telford, and elsewhere who had RAPED THOUSANDS OF BRITISH GIRLS. The British prosecutors ought to spend more time on rape gangs, and an approximately negative amount of time on the men who are offended by the rape gangs and posting images about it. Give him a commendation for Raising Awareness.
Sentencing Thompson, Judge Temperley had said of the zero tolerance approach being taken by courts: “This offence, I’m afraid, has to be viewed in the context of the current civil unrest up and down this country. And I’ve no doubt at all that your post is connected to that wider picture.
how about "context" and "wider picture" of rape gangs, shithead
“That has to be reflected in the sentence as does there need to be a deterrent element in the sentence that I impose, because this sort of behaviour has to stop. “It encourages others to behave in a similar way and ultimately it leads to the sorts of problems on the streets that we’ve been seeing in so many places up and down this country. This offence is serious enough for custody.”
I think the rioters should impose a deterrent element on judges, because this sort of sentencing behavior has to stop.
Years ago I visited Britain and thought the poverty and dysfunction and low quality of things from restaurant tables and rental cars to internet connection and interior plumbing felt second-world compared to Norway. Britain had surprisingly rotted to become worse than Poland on several material counts. Now this is a nasty sociological mark against Britain, too.
Another bit of "context" I'll offer is that the British 2005, 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019 elections were all won by parties (Conservative or Labour) who promised reduced immigration, and the Brits got increased immigration anyway. Massively increased.
If you take all the "democracy" and "representative government" and "will of The People" shit seriously, then The People of Britain are entitled to reduced immigration - it is their right for there to be fewer "Asians" in the country, as was promised to them, as they voted for. Having tried to get this at the ballot box five elections in a row, democratic governance has failed. The government has been denying the people their right. Judges should be issuing deportation orders for immigrants, not jailing nativists. I stress here that I am not a democrat myself, I do not believe in democracy, I am pointing out an implication of democratic legitimacy theory that rioters are the rightful democratic-revolutionary element of the people which is entitled to remove the government by force and install a more compliant one to restore the rights of the people and deport a million immigrants.
(They'll lose and not get that, I expect. Democratic legitimacy is gradually being superseded by Antihitlerian legitimacy, and peasant revolts need a powerful backer to have a chance, whether a defecting internal noble or external foreign supporter. Maybe Elon Musk would like a country. King Musk I of Britain...)

Decided to try Fallen London
So, going in I know nothing about this, having learned of its existence a few minutes ago thanks to a meme on this site. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I decided that I'll be roleplaying as one of my ocs in this web browser game. His name is Merlot Blackwing. He's a vampire who works as an artifact conservator. (Think Baumgartner Restorations, but with antiques and magic stuff) Merlot is also gay and in love with the son of a monster hunting guild leader.
I could use some beginner tips. Otherwise I'm really excited to dive into this gothic world.

if you’re hearing I HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH by SEAROWS playing, you have to know ATTICUS MORRISON (HE/HIM; CIS MAN) is near by! the 34 year old ANTIQUE RESTORER & HOROLOGIST has been in town for, like, HIS ENTIRE LIFE. they’re known to be quite CHAOTIC, but being KIND-HEARTED seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble JACOB ANDERSON. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those TAKING THINGS APART TO SEE HOW THEY WORK, GLASSES PUSHED BACK INTO DISHEVELLED HAIR, IMPOSSIBLY CLUTTERED WORKSPACES, HALF-DRUNK CUPS OF TEA, PERPETUALLY PICKING UP AND DISCARDING NEW HOBBIES vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around BRIGHTSIDE long enough!
Name: Atticus Morrison. Nickname(s): Atty/Attie. Age & d.o.b: Thirty-four years old, December 12th. Birthplace: Hemlock Springs. Gender: Cis man, he/him pronouns. Sexual Orientation: Bisexual. Occupation: Self-employed antique restorer/conservator and horologist. Runs his own business from a cluttered little workshop, with a clientele including private individuals, museums, auction houses, and fellow antique businesses like Afterlife Antiques. Neighbourhood: Brightside.
History:
Atticus, known affectionately to his parents as Atty, was born and raised in Hemlock Springs. His mother, a Scottish antique conservator, and his father, an African-Caribbean horologist, owned a small antique store downtown for over four decades before retiring and selling up.
Atty, their only child, spent his childhood pottering around their shop as they worked, offering help that was more of a hindrance. As a way of keeping him occupied whilst also allowing him to feel useful, he was given things that would otherwise be thrown out to "fix." Broken toys, clocks that had stopped, faulty appliances. Dismantling and reassembling things out of sheer curiosity, he quickly became fascinated with the way they worked. It quieted a chaotic mind, keeping him focused where he'd otherwise end up drifting. When his parents realised the depth of his interest, they nurtured it, imparting their own wisdom and expertise.
School was tough for Atty in the beginning. Classrooms didn't mesh with his chaotic nature and preference for hands-on work, but a lifeline arrived in the form of Norah Rajan. Firm friends from the start, he adored, and continues to adore, her. When she fell pregnant at fifteen and dropped out of school, he supported her, moving in and balancing his education with being a father figure to Omar, and then Anya. They continue to live together, and Atty's little found family mean the world to him.
After completing mainstream education, he trained under his dad as a horologist. Clocks are his main area of expertise and passion when it comes to restoration - he's, quite frankly, obsessed with them and will ramble on to anyone who'll listen - but he works with all kinds of antiques. His training comes predominately from his parents, as well as internship schemes at local museums and countless courses and practical experience.
Until his parents shop closed down two years ago, he was employed there, but is now a freelancer. He rents a cluttered little workshop close to his home, which is full of gently ticking clocks, endless forgotten cups of tea, and an array of antiques in various states of restoration.
Personality wise, he's super chaotic and very much led by curiosity, for better or for worse. He's constantly dreaming up little experiments which rarely go well; having nearly burned his workshop down on multiple occasions, he wears the consequences of poor impulse control and decision making in countless little bruises and scars. Very much a "Let's see what happens when I combine these two things that are known to explode for funsies" guy who is then the shocked pikachu face meme when they do, indeed, explode. He's goofy, sweet-natured, delusional enough to believe he's a Cool Dad™ to Omar and Anya - but also prone to quiet bouts of insecurity where he feels like he doesn't fit in anywhere? Basically very outwardly cheerful and confident, but internally much less assured than he tries to seem.
Connection ideas:
(more tba when I can think of other ideas <3 )
Clients: Maybe Atty fixed an item of sentimental value to your muse, or they bought one of his restored pieces.
Hobby buddies: Atty has endless hobbies - he's constantly picking up new ones (and promptly giving up on a lot of them when he grows bored). He loves painting, baking, whittling, gardening, sewing, photography, etc; he's basically a permanent fixture at local classes/workshops so if your muse is also into that kind of thing they could be friends! Or maybe they teach a class/workshop he's attended.
Also: fellow antique enthusiasts, exes on bad terms, exes on good terms, unlikely friends, childhood/school friends, family friends, friends who've fallen out with each other, neighbours, rivalries - anything and everything!!
Current connections:
Norah Rajan - Best friends since childhood, father figure to her children, living together.
more tba.

Well, if you're giving me the chance @telemna-hyelle , I might as well spice it up this time with some ✨memes✨
(ask game is based on @bllaaaaarrgh 's post about each lu link's competency level based on their ability to play their games)
For this I will tag @literallink :) ♥️
Sky: does not have the hand-eye coordination or spacial reasoning for any of this he's stuck in an area you're not supposed to get stuck in bc he forgot he can look up. Someone help him lol
Wild: very good with fights and shrines, and he enjoys them, but with literally everything else he gets choice paralysis and gives up.
Twilight: so... The portal kind of left him behind. Yeah he's still in ordon village. He's not complaining cuz he likes it there, but whoopsie lol (in fact I have not gotten past the opening to twilight princess)
Warrior: (haven't actually played og Hyrule warriors, but the gameplay is practically identical to age of calamity so we're going with that.) Warriors is just utterly flawless in combat. He can pull of combos, kill all enemies quickly, you name it. He says this is all fair and square, but it's really just universal favoritism (hw's combat is way easier than traditional Zelda games')
Wind: poor guy has even less coordination than sky. At least sky can jump gaps without veering to the side out of nowhere and missing entirely. He's alright at fighting, but it's pretty clear he's just flailing around and hoping it hits something (spam pressing b)
Time: my guy simply cannot swim. He just can't, it doesn't work out for him. Otherwise he's chilling. Give him a sword and a shield and he's practically untouchable
Legend: dies nearly as often as Hyrule, but doesn't have convenient restore point abilities like Hyrule so it sucks a little bit more. Not only that, but poor guy is constantly lost at all times, he's got no idea where he is or how to solve this puzzle girl help (admittedly, I'm pretty good with oracle games and albw, but I'm horrendous at alttp and triforce heros so I went with the funnier option)
Four: he is so incredibly slow. He has to think so so hard about each move he makes because (Maren played minish cap on an emulator on her phone and the buttons are all touchscreen and therefore so easy to press the wrong one) the colors are constantly wrestling for control in the middle of battle. He's pushing through it, his 3 bottles of lon lon milk help, but it's a struggle to move beyond glacier speeds.
(cw: depiction of injury)
Hyrule: has died during every single battle, BUT he just reloads his restore point and everything is fiiine. Just tanks hits while doing as much damage as possible until he wins. On the plus side, he's pretty efficient with conserving magic

Cities/Countries that I think should host upcoming Olympics and why:
1. Havana, Cuba: Over the course of several decades, Cuba has proven itself to be one of the most resilient and resolute nations on the planet. Withstanding the weight of global repression and economic embargoes, Cuba has emerged as a social and cultural hub with a growing reputation for medical breakthroughs and excellence. No one who matters cares about the Cold War bogeyman-ification of Cuba anymore, and it will be very funny to see those who do still care work themselves into a frothing hysteria.
2. San Jose, Costa Rica: As far as I'm personally aware, Costa Rica has the economic and infrastructural capacity to host an event like the Olympics. More importantly, Costa Rica's national initiatives to preserve and restore its unique ecosystems deserves to be celebrated on a international stage. It would be fascinating to see how San Jose could host an international event as sustainably as possible. Also, the Olympics should be held in as many countries near or under the Equator as possible before climate change makes a lot of places difficult to inhabit.
3. Johannesburg, South Africa: I chose Johannesburg because I think their economy/infrastructure is most capable, but just somewhere in Africa yo! Get the Olympics out of Europe and North America! Boring! I want to see dashikis, kente cloth, pyramids and elephants!
4. Sapporo, Japan: I just really think Japan deserves a do-over because the 2020 Olympics were fated to be a bust. Hosting the Winter Olympics in Hokkaido would be great! Have you seen pictures of the snowfall there? And Japan is making some incremental steps to recognize and revive Ainu culture, so this would be a great way to showcase that. Get the weebs interested with references to Golden Kamuy lol.
5. Helsinki, Finland: I recently read that a lot of Europeans are changing their summer vacation destination to Scandinavia because of climate change causing oppressive heatwaves elsewhere. So Finland would be more environmentally hospitable for more people, it'd be a great place for winter sports, and they could show off why they're consistently considered one of the happiest countries on the planet. Also, Moomins. Also also, the name of the capital would outrage a lot of usamerican fundies, which is always a good thing.
6. Istanbul, Türkiye: I admit that I don't know much about the socio-political or economic situation in Türkiye, but I think that in the age of memes as a significant means of communication, the country that generates the most memes during the current Olympics should host the next one. It is surreal to see how many people suddenly care about Olympic shooting competitions, and Turkish Shooter Guy is behind most of that. Also maybe this could be an opportunity for everyone to learn how to properly spell/pronounce Türkiye. Also it would probably anger a lot of conservative Europeans. Tee hee.
I was going to suggest Lhasa, Tibet, but they're not big on tourists anymore for justifiable reasons. I just wanted to anger the Chinese government. If Ireland actually reunites soon they should host the Olympics in the newly reunited Ireland. That would be beautiful.
I am so good at global diplomacy.

Les Mis Letters 1.1.2: Monsieur Myriel becomes Monsieur Bienvenu
Disclaimer: I am Christian, however, I am not Catholic, so a lot of what I have to say about the Catholic church comes from “weird blog posts/books I read once and thought were noteworthy,” the relevance may be tangential at best, and I’m probably not explaining some things with 100% accuracy.
I recently read a book about the Second Vatican Council/”Vatican II,” a reform movement from the 1960s, and it started by explaining some of the problems the Catholic church was having in the decades/centuries leading up to that. One of the things that intrigued me was that, in the 20th century, the “liberal”/”reformist” point of view was to be like “the Pope should choose the bishops, the bishops are leaders of the church and they should be accountable only to the church hierarchy.” From a contemporary perspective, this sounds kind of conservative! “We’re setting up a leadership hierarchy that answers only to itself as this autonomous entity? That’s dangerous!”
The reason this matters is because for a while in some Catholic countries, the government leadership--whether that be in the form of a king, or a Parliament, or a council of barons or something--would be choosing their countries’ bishops and hoping to exert influence over the church that way. In 1.1.1, we see how Myriel got promoted to a bishop: he complimented the Emperor once, and the Emperor said “boom! You’re a bishop now!” That’s not great--the church didn’t want to be under the control of national governments, especially when those governments change as often as France’s does. So establishing the bishops’ independence was, at the time, a reformist position.
In 1815, the church is back, and is financing a lot of stuff (social welfare, education) that we might expect to be government responsibilities. This is the early Restoration period. France has been through the whiplash of the early revolution, the late revolution, and then Napoleon. A lot of the church’s funds/resources were confiscated at the height of the revolution, and now it’s like...they’re back, but things are more precarious. So that’s some of the context for this “please how do I budget, my nation is in crisis” meme chapter.

Aesthetics: seaside mornings, toes in the sand. Hair wet with salt water, sunglasses perched on a tanned nose. An unknown, aching loneliness for knowing where home is. Conservation efforts for coral reefs and other aquatics. Life in a swimsuit with an old flannel as a cover up. Wetsuits as a work uniform, flippers in the ocean. Grandmotherly hands as a force of nature, encouraging the child to follow her dreams. Found family, big smiles, but quiet when alone.
Bio under the cut. Rules here.
Name: Rain Stirling
Age: 29
Likeness: Camila Mendes
Species: Selkie, harbor seal genus
Immediate Relations: grandmother, father (in hiding), seal siblings (she is unaware of them)
Occupation(s): aquarium diver, coral reef restoration volunteer
Defining Traits:
-She’s warm all the time, making it consistently hard for her to feel the cold.
-Can hold her breath underwater for an almost abnormally long time for humans.
-Freediving is something she finds enjoyable, and often something her friends point out is ‘weird’ that it comes so easily to her.
Biography:
The first year of her life happened in the ocean, the watchful gaze of her father, a harbor seal, raising her on his own. The pup would grow with confidence and her father would make a decision. Shedding his seal skin, the man would bring his daughter, Rain, to his grandmother on land to raise the girl away from the complexities and rather short life she would have as an animal. Even if the woman he ended up mating with left the two when the girl was born, he wanted the best life Rain could achieve.
She would never meet her father as she grew older. She would, however, get to swim with a seal who ended up in their harbor town almost every month like clockwork. Her grandmother knows exactly who that seal is, watching as best he can, his daughter begin to flourish.
Rain was a lively young girl who wanted the most to know where she belonged. Early on, she had an affinity for the water (thank goodness her grandmother lived within walking distance of the ocean). Rain found herself wandering the shallows most of the day and running back to it after school. This affinity for aquatic life led Rain to have a passion for preserving coral reefs and caring for the oceans. This sense of purpose gave her a distraction for the ache of her heart on her worst days when she felt unequivocally lost.
All through elementary school and high school, she gained and lost friends quite frequently. She didn’t understand why it happened other than typical bullying or loss of interest in her own hobbies by her friends. Only when she got to college did she find a group of like minded people who became a force somewhat close to a family she might want. They introduced her to zoology and Rain takes a few classes here or there trying to learn about aquatic life in the oceans. Does she have a particularly intense interest in seals? Has she stumbled upon the legend of the selkie and thought it fascinating and maybe…familiar? Like she’d seen it in a dream? Maybe. But she keeps all that fanciful talk to herself and from her grandmother. She doesn’t want to feel like more of an outcast than she already is. Whenever she wants to feel normal, she goes to work where she dives into the enclosures and cleans up a bit around all the other fish. Feeding them or even petting some (those who don’t post a threat, that is). Waving to kids who find it so cool and she can serve as a silent role model.
If only she didn’t feel like something, some part of her is missing. Why she is the way she is and who was responsible for that. Where she’ll curl into herself at night, craving a warmth she doesn’t know is truly missing.
For now, Rain spends time with her friends who have stuck with her since college, continuing to take classes when she can to further her passion for conservation or zoology. Or folklore.

Some fun little clips of the article for those who don't want to read it.
[Image] "In the Hallmark Cinimatic Universe, Hanukkah and the characters who celebrate it exist only in relation to Christmas" Nancy Coleman of the New York Times complained, adding that the Hallmark movie "Holiday Date" could, with "remarkably little edditing" turn into "a Jewish 'Get Out" [End Image]
[Image] Britni de la Cretaz, writing for the Washington Post, not only complained that the Jewish Hallmark movies were "Christmas movies with Jewish characters," but also that the movies "rely on some of the oldest anti-Semitic tropes in the book," such as painting one Jewish character as the "perpetual outsider" who is "sneaky, untrustworthy."
"The drama hinges on Jewish characters being compelled to observe Christmas, and the tension resolves only when these outsiders learn how to participate in or appreciate the dominant. religious tradition," she adds. [End Image]
[Image] None of this, of course, means that everyone who watches Hallmark Christmas movies is somekind of fledgling fascist. These movies are not for me, but I believe people when they say they find it relaxing to watch these predictable movies that have low stakes because none of the characters feel like real people. I've got my own flavors of trashy entertainment I fully enjoy without mistaking it for high art. (Baby Yoda, what's up?) [End Image]
[Image] It's easy to spot fascist propaganda when it's goose-stepping Pepe-the-frog memes. It's a lot harder to notice how it's working when it's tied up in Christmas cheer and suggesting grinchhood of anyone who questions the rigidity of its worldview. [End Image]
[Image] people actually diverse. Their money comes from selling a vision of America that increasingly authoritarian conservatives wish to believe once existed and can be restored again – an America that excludes most of an increasingly urban, racially diverse, cosmopolitan nation. That won't change no matter how many inclusive Zola ads the network airs. [End Image]
I strongly appreciate the author of this article and they actually make some really good points. Which is *delightful*. So yay Hallmark???
Hallmark Movie tropes where a woman visits her rural hometown and fall in love with a random camo wearing musclebound white man because of the power of Christmas, and then leaves her successful city job, and cuck boyfriend to be said man's submissive wife is conservative and possibly even white nationalist propaganda.
In this essay I will...

Wild how many of my restorative justice “activist” leftist friends are all about those memes about “people should be mad about the convicted pedo being at the Olympics and not the buffer than usual woman.”
People, we shouldn’t be mad about either. The woman boxer is a woman boxing and the volleyball player admitted his wrong doing and went to prison; that is justice being done. It rubs me the wrong way when leftists that talk a big game about our justice system being flawed and violent completely reverse face when it comes to someone they don’t like or a particular crime that’s committed. If your answer to any crime is to either kill the perpetrators or make them basically non-persons by pushing them to the streets and closing them off from any respectable career then you don’t believe in restorative justice or justice system reforms. You’re as savage as the conservative that wants to bring back electric chairs and cheer on prison rapes.

This is a funny post and I do not want to detract from the meme! However the actual status of manatees at the moment is pretty dire! I will put it under the readmore. To be clear this is not like, meant to take away from the humor of the meme-- goodness knows we can all use the joy and laughs we can get!
The article referenced in the photo is from a TIME article published March 30, 2017-- nearly six years ago. Here's what has happened since then.
In mid-2018, the Trump Administration proposed several changes to the Endangered Species Act, which protects wildlife and their habitats, especially ones at risk of extinction. (Source). These rules changed the way "critical habitat"-- the places endangered species need in order to live-- would be identified and set aside. They also took protection from species that were only "threatened" as opposed to endangered. This created major problems for conservation efforts around manatees, which had just been removed from the endangered species list and no longer had the same protections to their habitats.
In June 2022, the Biden Administration rescinded the changes that had been made in 2018 (Source), however a lot of damage had already been done by way of pollution to the waterways where manatees live.
During 2021 more than 1,000 manatees died of starvation, because pollution in their habitats created conditions for algal blooms that destroyed their primary food source. This continued into 2022, with more than 700 manatees dead in 2022 as of November. (Source).
Some things are being done to try and lessen the blows though! As a short term solution, programs are in place to provide lettuce to keep manatees from starving to death while measures are taken to restore their habitats. (Source). Some projects are focusing on restoring warm water refuges for manatees to go during the winter, that will help prevent die-offs caused by cold water temperatures that compound with food stress. (Source). Other projects are focusing on growing seagrass nurseries and then returning the grass to wild habitats, in hopes of helping feed the manatees more naturally and restore the polluted ecosystems. (Source).
I hate posts that end on sour notes-- they make it too easy to get bogged down in what is going wrong and that can be a paralyzing feeling! So I want to leave this with some takeaways: specifically ways that you can help if you want and are able to!
Consider learning about manatees, and the problems they are facing right now! Here's some information about the ongoing programs the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have, and how they are helping protect and restore manatees and their habitats! Here's a summary of 2022 from the Defenders of Wildlife Organization, which talks about the state of conservation efforts for manatees and other wildlife in the Southeastern US and their goals for 2023!
Consider volunteering or donating! Here, here, and here are just a few organizations that are making efforts towards helping protect manatees and their habitats! There are lots of ways to get involved if you have the time and are interested!
If you have read this far I am so appreciative! I am not a journalist but I did my best to make sure that I found good sources with helpful information.
#manatee conservation#this is what happens when I have a brief curiosity#and that single google search ends up becoming a 2 hour mini-essay#I do genuinely appreciate and enjoy the meme#and I hope that this does not come across as me wanting to rain on the parade#I hate posts that are all doom and gloom without any positives or takeaways so I tried very hard to end on a happy note#it just is very important to me that the love and fondness we have for manatees can be poured back into protecting them#they are such treasures

Librarian concept
Bro takes after the abSOLUTE WORST parts of those stereotypical “conservative” worldviews. Like, none of that nice “fidelity to your spouse” stuff. Social status as an order of obedience? Yeah, indubitably. Blind adherence to laws and lawmakers? Adulation is his mind. Habitual misogyny? That shit FEEDS him. It’s gonna be funny af to have the contrast between this young, well read scholar, and
But then it doesn’t make sense~~~ how are you gonna read about philosophy and living at every le
OH FECK ohoho, bro’s entire young adult formation was behind the heavily censored walls of the iron fortress for a feckin decade, so OBVIOUSLY books would have similarly been censored! And without the guidance of a parent, he’s gonna follow the rule of “preserve all books” to be sure, but still he doesn’t have a properly
But bro was literally 10 ish when they died off qwq that’s DEFINITELY enough time to form a proper moral system :(((((
How about, bro starts off as a nice, respectful to everyone, benefit of the doubt, open minded to individual differences little lad, and under the tutorship of his mentor bro is like “oh shit everyone in this world kinda sucks” and behaviours such as overt gossip, cruelty, nepotism (lmao), selfish ego, etc. Start to take root in his young, impressionable brain.
There’s still the motivation and hate towards the queen, sure; his memories are sweetened with every passing year, he yearns for the idyllic peace of his childhood. He wants the current queen gone - she’s an imposter - and the “rightful heir” of the original bloodline (would make sense if his family has a tradition of scholar work and hence passed down some notions of genetic prestige) restored.
But I’d just say that these values more influence his behaviour than his goals (though of course both are affected in some way). Bro is a basically a snobby, uptight dingus:
- believes in law and order above practicality (gonna be SO difficult to conceptualise bc I personally am on the very opposite of this philosophical spectrum qvq) [to justify lineage nobility over systems of meritocracy, for example]
- blood prestige; believes noble / historical blood predispositions one for gentility (or gentility as defined by the nobility, anyways), raised in the “proper ways”, attuned to politics in ways that the common human is incapable of even learning
- habitual misogyny; believing the capacities of the female sex are inherently frailer than their male counterparts (honestly, he’d be baffled by trans people, but he’d see trans women to be skilfully superior to trans men, similarly on the basis of biology - is this a form of trans inclusive mis no it’s not really nvm [that video meme is so cracked and I adore it])
- adherence to laws and order; he was raised to hold great respect for the monarchy and its adherents by his family (his parents were kinda mad simps for the monarchs ngl) and he absolves any cognitive dissonance between seeing an injustice to his morality as a result of the law by perceiving the latter to be an absolute system which must not be disobeyed
The thing with this characterisation is that I hold different beliefs qwq
OOH Wait The rule and order thing can be justified as “is every defence an attack upon the court?” Salem style. Where he trusts in the inherent stability of the law and does not believe the benefits of changing it / allowing exceptions will lead to a better collective outcome?
Idk or I could just make him go the route of “non-noble people (working class, bastards, etc.) are writhing maggots clinging to the soles of calf leather boots and may be disregarded as mere inhuman creatures, whom can be pitied but not trusted in or cared for” (bestial comparisons! Would also be the root of “oh yeah study doesn’t matter for plebs bc they’ll never be able to be as smart as even the most idiotic noble”
Would justify established systems and institutions by “oh nobles made them and hence they are sacred and wiser (迪化 type thinking lmao) by association”
it would be 1) easier to determine his reactions to stimuli bc it’s such a black and white worldview, and 2) would be an amusing alternative to racist or misogynistic outcomes bc, oh, yeah no, if you discriminate on basis of phenotype or religion that’s so brain dead! The REAL WAY is to hit up their family tree and check for that blood purity ykyk?

So I did a thing...
This is because I watch this guy.

He made merch and I just had to do the drake meme. Take a look at his amazing work if you get the chance. This is one of the longer vids but he dose have shorter ones. He also has just the sound of him working on a project or him talking walking through the shown steps of a project.
