Requiring someone to be bi-lingual in any entry level job is discrimination and nothing is going to convince me otherwise. In the United States our education system places zero value on being bilingual. American students don’t get nearly as much resources for second language learning as pretty much any other developed nation you look at. So I think to expect American citizens to know a second language to work retail or hospitality is discrimination. English has been the predominant language of business here for a very long time. If a business really feels like they need someone to be able to speak a certain language, hire a professional translator.
