EuroTrip | Part 14 | Sweet Esposito
#FM24 #EuroTrip Part 14: Sweet Esposito. Trebor Mahtal departs Serbia for the 8th club on his European adventure and ends up in Slovakia. He leads @SKSlovan to a dominant league effort and a surprise exciting European run. Read here:
Setting out on this EuroTrip adventure, Trebor Mahtal had dismissed chances of European success with teams outside the continent’s top seven leagues. Yet contrary to all expectations, he’d won the Europa Conference League with Dynamo Kiev then the Europa League with Crvena zvezda. But after two successful years in Serbia, the Zambian manager decided it was time for a new challenge. Mahtal had…

Jude’s press conference made me furious. it’s disgusting how disrespectful and disgusting the media can be. Jude was literally the only reason England didn’t embarrassingly get knocked out by Slovakia, and yet, they still made him the bad guy, placing all the blame on him to the point of harassing his family members. why do people think it’s okay to turn a single player into a punching bag?
like ok I get it, we can’t do much about brainless Twitter trolls, but the way both the media and the English squad handled this situation was absurd. they completely ignored the fact that Jude was thrown under the bus, despite being one of the main reasons they even reached the finals. And he didn’t even get voted best player by his teammates!!! every day, there were tweets with over 60K likes calling him overrated, arrogant, and etc. he was almost crucified for grabbing his balls, for shouting “who else” (because, honestly, it was him and no one else), and for kicking a box of bottles after losing the Euros final. the whole thing was pathetic.
his whole interview just made me sad because you could see how deeply all of this affected him. it’s unfortunate how players like Jude (Kylian, Vini and so many others) are treated, simply because the internet decides to make them targets.
P.S he handled the press conference perfectly, as usual and “when Real Madrid knock on the door, it shakes the whole house” line ATE SO HARD I FEAR

Eva Szepesi, 92, is traveling this week to the Nazi concentration camp she narrowly survived, where her mother and brother were both murdered.
Szepesi, who grew up in Slovakia and now lives in Frankfurt, Germany, is one of the last survivors of Auschwitz alive today. Just 50 of them are expected to be present on Monday at the camp in Poland for a ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation — down from 300 a decade ago and 1,000 a decade before that.
The ceremony comes amid widespread anxiety over whether knowledge about the Holocaust is diminishing as the number of Jews who survived it dwindles. For Szepesi, however, the history has lost none of its power.
“Auschwitz will stay with me until the last day, the last moment,” she said.
For the first time, this year’s milestone ceremony will not feature any speeches by politicians. In addition to the survivors who speak, the only other addresses will come from World Jewish Congress president Ronald S. Lauder, representing major donors to the memorial site, and historian Piotr Cywiński, director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
Five years ago, Poland’s president Andrzej Duda was the only politician to speak. This year, he is facing criticism over Poland’s pledge not to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for whom the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant over the Gaza war, in the unlikely event that Netanyahu visits for the ceremony.
“A lot of people are tired of these speeches by officials, functionaries, politicians,” said Yves Kugelmann, the Switzerland-based editor in chief of Aufbau, a magazine started by German-speaking Jewish emigres in 1934. Its newest edition is dedicated to the subject of Auschwitz and memory, and includes contributions by survivors.
“It is important that we have the witnesses talking about what they experienced,” Kugelmann said.
When Soviet troops entered the camp on Jan. 27, 1945, they found 7,000 survivors whom the fleeing SS had left behind.
Twenty years ago, about 1,000 of them attended commemoration ceremonies at the site, in bitter cold. Now, that is the total number of Auschwitz survivors alive worldwide, according to an estimate by the Claims Conference, which negotiates restitution for survivors and recently launched a campaign featuring messages from 80 of them. (The group found last year that there were fewer than 250,000 survivors alive globally.) Most are in their 90s, and relatively few are able to make the trip.
This year’s event is “the last where we will have a visible group of survivors with us,” said Paweł Sawicki, deputy spokesman for the Auschwitz Memorial. “And this is why it is so important to put the entire spotlight on the survivors.”
“They will give the main addresses, and we will not have any politicians giving speeches,” he said, adding, “We do not want to assault this memory by [its] being politically instrumentalized.”
State representatives “will be present, but they will be listening to the voices of survivors,” Sawicki said, noting that it was survivors who in the early postwar years came up with the idea of having a memorial at the site.
Thousands of people are expected to be on hand for the ceremony, which marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day. (A Jewish and Israeli memorial day for the Holocaust, Yom Hashoah, falls in April.) A heated tent has been set up for participants around the infamous gate to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where, historians say, of the estimated 1.3 million people deported to the camp in Nazi-occupied Poland from 1940 to 1945, 1.1 million were murdered there; around 1 million of them were Jews.
For decades, their stories have been told by the few survivors. In the videos shared by the Claims Conference, one survivor, Alfred Sobotka, shares a photo from his bar mitzvah, and points to his father and brother, both gassed on arrival at Auschwitz.
Another, Alice Ginsburg, recalls “the heart-wrenching experience of being separated from my family” forever.
In just a few words, each of them paints a universe lost.
Szepesi, who also appears in a video, was the only survivor from her immediate family. She was only 12 when she was deported to Auschwitz in November 1944, several months after her family had sent her alone into hiding with relatives in Slovakia.
Very few children arriving at Auschwitz survived. She was selected for work, cleaning ammunition. She clung to the hope of being reunited with her family. Liberation came; she later returned to Budapest, where she met her husband, a fellow survivor named Andor Szepesi. They married in 1951, started a family and eventually applied for asylum in what was then West Germany, moving there in 1954.
Eva Szepesi first went back to the site for the commemoration in 1995, convinced by her daughters Judith and Anita. After the ceremony she spoke with students for the first time; they sat cross-legged on the floor in her hotel and listened, rapt.
“I just started and it all bubbled up,” she recalled. Since that time, she has spoken with numerous school groups, particularly in Germany.
“I start with my happy childhood, which was very short” but had a lasting impact, she said. “I received a lot of love.”
She tells them “that when they experience injustice, they should stand up and not remain silent; they should get informed, not believe everything straight away. And you have to be careful that something like that never happens again,” she said, adding that listeners “always tell me, we will be the witnesses of the survivors when they are no longer here; we will pass it on.”
In 2016, she finally learned the fates of her parents and brother. Her granddaughter researched at the Auschwitz archive and found Szepesi’s mother, Valeria Diamant, on a list of murdered Jews.
“I was so scared,” recalled Szepesi, who had accompanied her granddaughter to the archive. As if in a dream, “I saw my mother’s name with my own eyes.” She scanned the list and found her brother’s name, Tamás Diamant, as well.
She had waited 70 years, hoping her mother would come for her. It turned out she had been murdered shortly before Eva arrived at the camp.
“It’s always a terrible thought for me, that she saw from above that her little daughter marched in, into Birkenau, Auschwitz-Birkenau,” she said.
All Eva Szepesi has from her childhood, aside from memories, is a handful of photos that a neighbor had hidden and handed to her uncle, wrapped in a newspaper, after the war. Szepesi looks at them every day, and even sometimes speaks with them.
The shattering knowledge about what happened to her family brought some closure. But she still asks herself: “My little brother was four years younger, and he was murdered. Why am I allowed to live, and he had to die? But I don’t get an answer.”
Educators and Jewish organizations have been working to devise strategies for teaching about the Holocaust when the last survivors with memory of the Holocaust can no longer tell their stories — a prospect that grows nearer by the day. Virtual and augmented reality is increasingly playing a role, as are the children and grandchildren of survivors.
On Monday, Szepesi will be a guest of the World Jewish Congress, accompanied by her younger daughter, Anita Schwarz.
The return to Auschwitz is “like going to visit my grandmother. That is where I actually felt her presence for the first time,” Schwarz said.
“There are so many young people today who don’t know what Auschwitz is, who can’t relate to it at all,” Schwarz added. “Only when you really come to terms with history, and actually with your own family history, can you understand what it means and that you really have to do something, so it doesn’t happen again.”

The Invasion of Poland in 1939
The leader of Nazi Germany Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) ordered the invasion of Poland on 1 September 1939. Hitler's refusal to withdraw brought a declaration of war from Britain and France on 3 September, and so began the Second World War (1939-45). The USSR invaded eastern Poland on 17 September, and the country was divided and occupied by two totalitarian regimes.

Hitler's Aggressive Foreign Policy
To understand why Poland became the country Britain and France decided to go to war over, it is necessary to trace the path of Germany's expansion from 1935. Adolf Hitler gained power in 1933, and two years later, he began a series of land grabs, each time using a combination of military manoeuvres, diplomacy, and bluff to convince world leaders that each new step into neighbouring territory would be his last. Hitler had promised the German people he would regain the territories lost after the First World War (1914-18) in the humiliating Treaty of Versailles (1919). Hitler said Germany needed Lebensraum ('living space') for its people, that is, new lands where they could prosper.
In March 1935, Hitler took back the coal-rich Saar region on Germany's western border, an area that had been governed by the League of Nations (the forerunner of today's United Nations) since the end of WWI. In March 1935, voters in the Saar decided overwhelmingly to rejoin Germany. Hitler, encouraged by the lack of an effective international response to Japan's invasion of Chinese Manchuria in 1931 and Italy's invasion of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) in 1935, next occupied the Rhineland, an area between Germany and France which the Versailles Treaty had stipulated must remain demilitarised. German troops entered the Rhineland in March 1936. Hitler then formally repudiated the Treaty of Versailles and embarked on a programme of rearmament. In 1936, he made an alliance with Italy, the Rome-Berlin Axis. In March 1938, Hitler occupied Austria, the country of his birth. The Anschluss ('fusion') with Austria was later endorsed by a plebiscite.
Next, Hitler wanted the Sudetenland, a neighbouring region of Czechoslovakia that had a German-speaking majority. Even though France and the USSR had signed a treaty in 1935 promising to protect Czechoslovakia from outside aggression, neither was willing to go to war when it came to the crunch. The majority of the population of Britain, like in France, was against the idea of a war and even against the policy of rearmament. At the Munich Conference of September 1938, Britain, France, Italy, and Germany met. In the Munich Agreement, the four powers agreed the Sudetenland would be handed over to Germany. The governments of Czechoslovakia and the USSR had no say in the matter. Hitler had promised to respect what remained of Czechoslovakia, but this he did not do, instead, he promoted the separation of Slovakia and invaded Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939. In the same month, Germany seized Memelland in Lithuania. In April, the fascist dictator in Italy, Benito Mussolini (1883-1945), occupied Albania. It was now clear to even the most naive of diplomats that nothing Hitler or Mussolini signed could ever be trusted.

Rory Carroll and Sam Jones at The Guardian:
Ireland, Spain and Norway have announced they will formally recognise a Palestinian state on 28 May, triggering an immediate response from Israel, which recalled its ambassadors from Dublin and Oslo. The Irish, Spanish and Norwegian governments made the long-awaited announcements in coordinated moves on Wednesday morning that they said were intended to support a two-state solution and foster peace in the Middle East.
“We are going to recognise Palestine for many reasons and we can sum that up in three words – peace, justice and consistency,” Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, told the parliament in Madrid, earning applause. “We have to make sure that the two-state solution is respected and there must be mutual guarantees of security.” Ireland’s taoiseach, Simon Harris, said Palestine had a legitimate right to statehood. “It is a statement of unequivocal support for a two-state solution, the only credible path to peace and security for Israel, for Palestine and for their peoples,” he told a press conference in Dublin. “I’m confident that further countries will join us in taking this important step in the coming weeks.” In Oslo, Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, said there could not be peace in the Middle East without recognition, and that Norway would regard Palestine as an independent state “with all the rights and obligations that entails”.
Israel launched a swift diplomatic counteroffensive to try to deter other European countries such as Slovenia and Malta that have signalled a willingness to recognise Palestine. The foreign minister, Israel Katz, ordered his ambassadors in Dublin and Oslo to return immediately for “urgent consultations” and promised further measures. He accused Ireland and Norway of sending a message that “terrorism pays”, a reference to the Hamas attacks of 7 October that triggered the war in Gaza. Recognition would impede efforts to return hostages held in Gaza and made a ceasefire less likely by “rewarding the jihadists of Hamas and Iran”, Katz said. He also threatened to recall Israel’s ambassador to Spain. Israel’s foreign ministry on Tuesday warned Ireland it risked becoming a “pawn in the hands of Hamas” and would fuel “more terrorism, instability in the region and jeopardise any prospects for peace”. The developments came amid a grinding seven-month war in Gaza that has sparked global calls for a ceasefire and lasting solution for peace in the region, as well as the pursuit of arrest warrants on war crimes charges by the international criminal court.
3 European Union members-- Norway, Spain, and Ireland-- will recognize the State of Palestine as part of the two-state solution. In 2014, Sweden was the first EU nation to recognize Palestinian statehood as a current EU member.
Several current members of the EU, such as Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, and Slovakia, have recognized the State of Palestine prior to joining the EU.
As a result of the recognition of Palestine by Ireland and Norway, the Israel Apartheid State recalled its ambassadors in protest.

The carving up of Czechoslovakia, 1938-1939.
"Wielki atlas historyczny", ouvrage collectif, éd. Demart, Varsovie, 2023
"Nationalities in the Czechoslovak Republic", propaganda postcard of the Sudeten German Party, 1938, Karlovy Vary
by cartesdhistoire
In a public speech in February 1938, Hitler demanded the annexation of the Sudetenland, the German-speaking region of Czechoslovakia, to Germany. On Hitler's orders, the Sudeten German Party (SDP), whose objective was the region's annexation to the Reich, worked to create the political conditions for a German military attack against Czechoslovakia, which the German state had been preparing since April 1938 under the code name "Fall Grün."
Unrest persisted until September, convincing the British government that the coexistence of Czechs and Germans within a single state was no longer feasible. This reinforced the viewpoint of British Prime Minister Chamberlain, who believed it was essential to appease Hitler's demands. Following two meetings between Hitler and Chamberlain, the Munich Conference was convened on September 29, at the initiative of British and American diplomacy, without the presence of Czechoslovak representatives. After midnight on the 30th, the participants signed an agreement fully accepting the German position.
On March 14, 1939, under pressure from Hitler, Slovakia proclaimed its independence in Bratislava, and on the same day, Hungary demanded the transfer of Subcarpathian Ruthenia. On the morning of March 15, 1939, German troops crossed the Czechoslovak border. In occupied Czechoslovakia, the Germans seized the armaments of 45 infantry divisions, thousands of cannons, hundreds of tanks and planes, along with large quantities of other military equipment, medicines, and food. However, the most valuable spoils were the industrial and construction capabilities of the Czech lands, which aided Germany in achieving victory during the blitzkrieg of 1939–1940.

My Top 10 list
Favorite Daddy Sex Scandals: Part III
Whether rumored or proven fact, these are a few of my favorite Daddy Sex Scandals.
10. Rex Ryan Foot Fetish
Tumblr media
Back in 2010 with the New York Jets are on the verge of making the playoffs, but the focus was off the field as coach Rex Ryan is being asked whether his wife, Michelle, posted foot-fetish videos on the Internet. Ryan never denied report that shows a number of videos of a woman who looks very much like his wife showing off her feet while a cameraman -- who sounds like Ryan -- talks to the woman. Years later, he would admit his love of feet.
Sure, this is mild compared to others on this list, but I like Rex. And I can respect a man who loves his wife… and feet.
9. Tampongate
Tumblr media
If there’s a scandal you think of in association with Charles, it’s probably this one. This situation involved Charles, a six-minute phone call and some racy banter between the then Prince of Wales and his mistress, in which he expressed a desire to be reincarnated as Camilla’s Tampax. While Charles was newly separated from Princess Diana at the time the story was published in 1992, the call was recorded five years earlier when he was still very much married, and Camilla was still Mrs. Andrew Parker Bowles. Tampongate tanked Charles’ popularity and Camilla a target for scathing press attention. It’s also thought to have accelerated his divorce.
This proves my theory, no matter what you say about Camilla's looks, her pussy is grrreat.
8. Seventh-term U.S. Congressman Caught Cheating
Tumblr media
Republican U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan said he will not run for an eighth term in his solidly Republican South Carolina district. Probably because his reputation for conservative family values was diminished last year when his wife filed for divorce, saying the congressman left her and was having a sexual relationship with a lobbyist. She said he had been unfaithful before during their 35-year marriage. Apparently, Duncan plans to marry said DC DC lobbyist with whom he's currently living with. SCANDALOUS.
Well… he did look like he would/could be into fuckery.
I just wish it was with me.
7. Sweden’s Carl XVI Gustaf
Tumblr media
In 2010, a book on King Carl XVI Gustaf’s private life alleged he was a philanderer and a regular at sex clubs hosted by infamous Mafia boss, Mille Markovic in the earlier years of his reign having had numerous affairs with younger women. He had a secret love affair in the 1990s with Camilla Henemark, a Nigerian-Swedish pop singer and he visited exclusive strip clubs during foreign visits; in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics (spending two hours in a room alone with a stripper) and in Slovakia in 2008. And after one big dinner celebrating a successful elk hunt, he is said to have enjoyed sex with two women at the same time. Claims he never denied.
OK, now I want to fuck him more.
6. Ex-Senator Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Tumblr media
David Boren was a governor, a three term United States Senator and the president of the University of Oklahoma. He resigned from his last post after a sexual-misconduct investigation. Even more accusations spanning decades, through Boren's time as a US Senator and Governor which describe he allegedly sexually harassed male aides during his time in Washington. During his campaign for Senate in 1978, he was accused of being gay. Boren denied this, swearing on a family Bible at a news conference that he was not gay or bisexual. He's married. But… where there's smoke, there's fire.
Now sexually harassing people is wrong, but if Boren was sexually harassing me. I’d think I’d hit the jackpot. What? I had a thing for him back when he was a senator. Don’t judge me.
5. Bobby Petrino Motorcycle Scandal
Tumblr media
Back in in 2011, the then-51-year-old, Arkansas Razorbacks head coach, Bobby Petrino, a married father of four, had maintained an inappropriate relationship with Dorrell, who was 25 years old at the time, for a "significant" period of time. At one point, Long said, Petrino had given Dorrell a $20,000 gift. All this came out after his now-infamous motorcycle crash in 2011, amid the scandal that led to his firing as the Razorbacks’ head coach. Sadly, the only way I’d catch his interest is if I was woman, blonde, a former volleyball player and into riding motorcycles.
Wait a minute, I can dye my hair, I did play volleyball recreationally and I did ride a motorcycle a few times. Now lets see if I can get him to like dick.
WHAT. I can dream.
4. The Prince and The Sex Offender
Tumblr media
Accusations including the association with convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the groping of a woman’s breast and underage sex with a then 17 year old Virginia Giuffre. Throw in he’s an entitled, arrogant asshole and the 72 teddy bears on the bed thing. He had to be stripped of his military and royal titles, resigned from public duties and is living in recluse with his ex Fergie. Andrew has denied any wrongdoing, including in his settlement with Giuffre in 2022. It was a fall from grace for the 64-year-old, who was once second in line to the throne.
3. Bonneville Pegged
Tumblr media
Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville allegedly hired renowned prostitute and ex-Big Brother star Helen Wood and took out a court injunction to keep it a secret. But Wood broke the cardinal rule of prostitution when she outed Bonneville back in 2012. She also said he was an was a disgusting kisser. He kissed like a virgin and told how she asked the man if he wanted her to use a sex toy on him and that he “eagerly agreed”.
After hearing this, I'll never look at Hugh or his ass in the same way again.
2. The Kraft Day Spa Scandal
Tumblr media
In February 2019, Robert Kraft, the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots was charged with soliciting a prostitute. Kraft proves a theory of mine that if a man who was married for a long time (over 45 years) and loses his wife by divorce or in this case, death. Would go crazy for some new strange. He’s fucking a twenty something model/wanna be actress, getting hand jobs at cheap massage parlors and hanging around rappers. Strippers/groupies anyone. And included in all that, I bet he experimenting in man on man sex. You can’t tell me he hasn’t had his dick sucked by a man. By now he's settled down in his marriage to new wife, 32 years his junior.
I ain't mad at him. I'm just mad they didn't release the tape of him in the massage parlors.
1. The King and The Servant
Tumblr media
Not to be confused with 'Cash for Titles' scandals, but both involve His Majesty and his former palace valet, Michael Fawcett, one of his closest advisers. Charles has been dogged by gay rumors for decades ever since his marriage to Princess Diana hit the rocks. It’s well known that throughout his 15-year marriage to Di, Charles was carrying on with the wife of one of his close friends, Camilla Parker-Bowles, whom he ultimately wed in 2005. But allegedly, a former palace servant claimed to have seen then Prince Charles and Fawcett having sex when he brought the monarch his breakfast. Hell, even Di had her doubts about the Prince’s sexuality when she heard about the allegations.
Looks like all the proof to these claims has disappeared (lost tape recording of these claims) or died (the servant and Diana ). Do I think it's true. Lets just say, Charles looks the type to experiment.
Why is it #1? It has spawned many a fanfiction featuring His Majesty.

Slovak Education Minister Tomáš Drucker is refusing to implement anti-LGBTQ+ legislation that the far-right Slovak National Party (SNS) plans to propose next month. SNS, which is in Slovakia’s ruling coalition along with Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Smer party and the social-democratic Hlas (Voice) party, announced two weeks ago that it will in September propose an “anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda law” in schools. The aim of the bill is “to create conditions to ensure that education remains neutral and focused on traditional values,” it said. Drucker, with the Hlas party, said Wednesday that he “absolutely” refuses to apply the proposal in the school system. The governing coalition’s agreement among its three parties has divided up the ministries, with Hlas getting autonomy over education. “The educational content will be decided exclusively by experts and teachers during my tenure as a minister of education,” Drucker said at a press conference Wednesday where he introduced a package of 89 school reforms. “I absolutely reject any politicization of education and impetuous interventions in education.” [...]

The lead guy in Slovakia who was tasked with investigating how the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) "pandemic" was handled has determined that all mRNA (modRNA) injections, i.e., Pfizer and Moderna, are too dangerous to remain on the market and need to be banned.
Peter Kotlár says mRNA COVID jabs should no longer be sold in Slovakia, calling the "pandemic" itself an "act of bioterrorism" and a "fabricated operation," the insinuation being that the whole thing was a manufactured sham to kill people and seize control over the global economy.
At an October 2 press conference, Kotlár, who had just submitted his report to the government calling for a ban on mRNA, explained that he thinks SARS-CoV-2 was artificially created in a laboratory and deliberately spread worldwide. He also announced that Slovakia has ended its relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) as a result.
In time, Kotlár's report will be made public, "but let's wait first for a session of the government," he said.
"The most serious consequence of the whole fabricated operation called the COVID-19 pandemic is the endangerment of human health and the confirmation of the naivety of the world population to be subconsciously obedient," Kotlár added, noting that his most serious finding was that mRNA alters human DNA.
"Let us at least make the right gesture together by stopping the administration of mRNA preparations until their effectiveness and safety have been proven."

one photo of quinn and nico, a friend of mine fueling the fire and three days later there is a meticulous google document detailing the history of these two captains and it’s so weird. they met on the ice once as teenagers in slovakia and everything before that point and after that point consists of whatever god there is absolutely fucking with their lives.
quinn declining to play in the chl set off the funniest chain of events that include a curse on these two so that they play each other once and then have no contact for three years. it happened twice. curse was broken with luke’s draft, kind of. it’s all freak injuries and chance occurences.
result of it being that nico and quinn have only played each other FOUR times in the last SIX years of their careers. separate conferences play a role but not that big of a role. it’s just luck, baby. quinn’s given two of his brothers away to this guy and he has no fucking clue who he is!
an example of one of those freak occurences as follows; quinn postponing his vancouver debut to play for michigan only to get a minor foot injury eight days before the canucks play the devils. he’s laid at home, his ncaa season’s bust and the ONLY game he is able to watch of the canucks doesn’t have nico in it. for absolutely no good reason. in a season where he plays 82% of games that season, this is the one nico isn’t in. no injury. just. then quinn magicks his foot to shape and he’s playing with the canucks two weeks later. GOD WHY?
and let’s not talk about slovakia, (cause that happened twice, too).

Ukraine will not extend its gas transit agreement with Russia after it expires at the end of 2024, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Monday.
The two held talks in Uzhhorod in western Ukraine and, according to a Ukrainian official, were focused on infrastructure cooperation, energy security and support for Kyiv's peace plan. "Ukraine once again says it will not continue the transit agreement with Russia after it expires," Shmyhal told a news conference sitting alongside Fico. "Ukraine's strategic goal is to deprive the Kremlin of profits from the sale of hydrocarbons which the aggressor uses to finance the war." Slovakia, a member of NATO and the EU which shares a border with Ukraine, opposes Kyiv's accession to NATO, but has a strong interest in maintaining the transit of oil and gas from Russia to the west via Ukraine. Slovak state-owned gas buyer SPP said this month it was continuing negotiations to secure an extension of gas transit through Ukraine after Kyiv’s contract with Russian supplier Gazprom expires at the end of the year. Shmyhal said that Kyiv understands the "acute dependence" of some states, including Slovakia on the Russian gas supply, but is counting on gradual diversification of delivery. Ukraine's prime minister also said the two countries had agreed on the creation of an Eastern European energy hub, which aims to utilize large Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
Big critic
Fico has been a big critic of Western military aid to Ukraine, along with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and has made a big show of halting government-sponsored military aid to Ukraine while allowing commercial supplies to continue.
He reiterated his view that there was no military solution to the Ukrainian-Russian war.
"Peace must be sustainable, you have to have security guarantees. Above all, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine must be respected. We understand all that," Fico said.
He said the talks with Ukraine's government confirmed that Kyiv remained interested in using its gas and oil transit systems after the deal with Russia expires.
"I welcome our discussion which confirmed that you, like us, have an interest in the transit system you have on Ukrainian territory continuing to be used, when it comes to both oil and gas," Fico added.

Fourteen foreign activists attending a civil society conference in Belgrade were detained and then expelled by Serbian authorities for no reason. The activists, from EU member states and countries of the Western Balkans, were taken by police in the middle of the night, questioned, deported, and then banned for being a “security risk." The individuals participated in an NGO academy organised by Erste Foundation, the biggest Austrian savings bank foundation, and were from Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Albania, Moldova, Romania, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Among them was Gazmir Memaj, who works for the Mary Ward Loreto Foundation, an anti-human trafficking charity in Tirana. He told Euractiv that around midnight on Tuesday, people who claimed to be police took him and another Albanian colleague to the police station. The police were not wearing a uniform, and the car was not marked as a police vehicle. At the police station, he was asked to sign a declaration written in Serbian which was translated orally. In his words, the document obliged him to leave Serbia on 23 January and banned him from returning within one year. His passport was also stamped accordingly and confirmed in a photo seen by Euractiv.

MODERN AU.
✾ secret is a princess to a reasonably sized, landlocked country in the balkans, svirica, fictional because i'm the sheriff, that shares its borders with hungary, slovakia, austria and czechia. she is currently second in line to the throne, while her brother is the currently ruling king. the political structure of the country holds both a government and monarchy that work together.
✾ while she is not the reigning monarch, she does play a political role, both above table and in more criminally-inclined manners. officially, she is a loud spokesperson for environmental and historical preservation, often speaking at conferences in regards to these matters, attending fundraising events etc. less officially, and more predominently in her eyes, she is finds herself in seedier locations, with grittier individuals, ensuring knowledge and secrets don't cause the country damage. in these cases, she tends to work more closely with government officials, both of svirica and abroad. she has definitely killed people. she might still kill people, you don't know!
✾ her reputation is one of fun. for the most part at least. tabloids and current events blogs love her, and she loves them, always making sure to give them a good show, and for the most part, the average person outside her country will know her for her partying than anything else, unless they're particularly involved in environmental or historical scenes.
✾ this being said: when she was 27 years old, she was wrapped up in an incredibly public murder inquiry, as the defendant. the death was accidental, and ruled as such, especially with the incredibly good lawyers at her disposal, but this part of her reputation does follow her around on occasion.
in magic-compatible modern settings.
cece is a telepath, i guess is the term for it, just not like chuckles x.avier (a mutant au for cece is for a different post...). echoing the skills of the soulknife rogue, she is able to speak directly into your mind, opening up a telepathic channel for you to reply. with this, she can catch people's auras, understand the basics of what they are thinking not from reading their minds, like a fingerprint of the person and their mindspace without the specifics.
this skill is something that she needs to practice, and for the most part, she hasn't gotten all that good at it. it has been incredibly helpful to her as it stands, but has prioritised her fighting and social skills, letting the magic she doesn't full understand fall to the wayside.

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico after the politician was seriously hurt in a shooting attack.
The alleged assailant has not been formally named, but Slovak reports have widely identified him as a 71-year-old from the town of Levice.
Reports say he could face up to life in prison.
Mr Fico, 59, is in a serious but stable condition after being shot several times in what colleagues described as a politically motivated attack.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok told a news conference on Thursday that the suspect had acted alone and that he had previously taken part in anti-government protests.
"This is a lone wolf whose actions were accelerated after the presidential election since he was dissatisfied with its outcome," he said.
Peter Pellegrini, a populist and ally of Robert Fico, won April's vote.
Shot five times at close range
It was in broad daylight on Wednesday that Mr Fico, surrounded by a crowd of supporters, was shot at close range.
A gunman fired five times, hitting the prime minister in the stomach and arm.
The attack took Mr Fico's security detail completely by surprise. Footage showed several officers bundling the wounded PM into a car, before driving away at high speed, while the others detained the suspect.
Mr Fico was rushed to a nearby hospital in an air ambulance, with injuries described as life-threatening.
He was then transferred to another facility in Banska Bystrica, east of Handlova, where surgeons and trauma teams worked through the night to stabilise him.
On Thursday, the hospital director told a news conference that Mr Fico's condition was stable, but "truly very serious", and he had been moved to an intensive care unit.
Mr Pellegrini later said he had visited Mr Fico, who had been able to speak a few sentences.
"The situation is very critical and we have to give him a lot of energy and be positive," said Mr Pellegrini.
Local media reports describethe suspectas a writer and political activist.
A video being widely circulated on Slovak media purports to feature him.
In the footage, the man says he disagrees with government policy and its stance towards state media. The BBC has neither verified if the person in the video is the perpetrator who was detained at the scene, nor the circumstances under which it was filmed.
Politically motivated attack
Several Slovak politicians called the shooting an "attack on democracy".
On Thursday, Slovakia's outgoing President Zuzana Caputova appealed for calm and invited all party leaders to a meeting to discuss political tension.
Meanwhile, Slovak President-elect Peter Pellegrini called on all parties to suspend campaigning before European parliament elections scheduled for early June.
Mr Fico is a divisive figure at home for his calls to end military aid to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia.
The shooting came on the day parliament began discussing the government's proposal to abolish Slovakia's public broadcaster RTVS.
Thousands of Slovaks have protested against the proposed reform of the public broadcaster in recent weeks. However, a planned opposition-led demonstration was called off on Wednesday as news of the shooting emerged.
In his interview with the BBC, Deputy Prime Minister Taraba blamed "false narratives" by opposition parties in Slovakia for the shooting.
"Our prime minister several times mentioned in the past that he was afraid that this would happen," Mr Taraba said in another interview with the BBC's World Tonight programme.
And Interior Minister Mr Estok accused the media of contributing to the climate that led to the 59-year-old's shooting, telling a news conference: "Many of you were those who were sowing this hatred."
Pavol Strba, a foreign affairs correspondent for the Slovakian newspaper Dennik N, told the BBC News Channel that "the current governing coalition has painted targets on the heads of journalists, members of NGOs et cetera".
"I have some information that some of the newsrooms in Slovakia are being patrolled by police right now," he said.
