Madalas tumatambay lang kayo sa condo niya kasi napaka-nonchalant naman na 'to. Pero okay lang, kasi kapag inaaya ka niya mag-date, gandahan mo ang damit mo kasi it's either sa Makati or around BGC kayo kakain. Si Jeno rin yung kapag naglalakad kayo, nasa may kalsada siya banda tapos inaasod ka talaga doon sa lakaran para safe ka, hawak niya kamay mo, tapos tinatabi ka niya kapag may mabubunggo ka na tao HUY.

Park Jisung as your manliligaw na napaka-mahiyain sa una. Noong una kayong nagkita ang awkward! Sa may ihawan kayo sa labas ng uni niyo napadpad tapos ang tahimik pero naglakas-loob naman siya na kausapin ka. Siya nagbayad sa first date niyo kahit na you insist na hati na lang kayo, tapos hinatid ka niya sa dorm mo o sa sakayan! Simula non, naging routine niyo na na hinahatid ka niya bago siya umuwi, tapos siya palaging may dala ng bag mo para hindi ka mabigatan SHET. Tapos si Jisung na mahilig na katawagan ka tuwing gabi, messenger vidcall man iyan o discord call, basta marinig niya lang boses, tapos mag-uusap kayo tungkol sa walang-kwentang mga bagay. HAYSTT!!

1) Ilang linggo ko nang naiisip 'to pero bakit para nang instagram 'yung tumblr dashboard ko? Hindi naman sa ayaw ko ng pictures, pero halos walang mabasang text post... kaya sinusuyod ko minsan isa-isa 'yung mga finafollow ko. Nagpopost pa rin naman sila ng mga paragraph.

2) Gusto ko nang maging okay. Ayoko nang mag-ruminate at ma-anxious about the future na wala pa naman. Sinasabi ko sa sarili ko, ano bang definition ko ng success? Chill naman 'yung trabaho ko, nagagawa ko gusto ko, may pera ako. Pero hindi ako mapakali. Hindi ko na alam anong growth pa ang gusto ko. (Hindi ko sinasabing perfect ako, lost lang sa kung saan na ako papunta, anong direksyon ang tatahakin; parang nagstay lang ako sa same point—may masama ba dun?)

3) Last year tinanong ako ng manager namin kung wala raw ba akong ka-date. Kitang nagtatrabaho habang February 14 eh. Pero ang pinagkaiba, last year, hindi naman ako bitter. Enjoy lang sa life. This year... sigh. Akala ko nakahanap na ako ng "home". Nag-sign na ako ng verbal contract, nag-downpayment na, pero wala. Evicted.

4) May nakita akong post sa isang fb group. Bumili sya ng condo sa Makati pero hindi sya masaya kasi pakiramdam nya, obligasyon lang, at hindi fulfilling. Practical na decision kaysa magrent daw. Gusto nya raw maging digital nomad. Naaliw ako sa chaos ng feelings at decision-making niya about that property. Wala akong judgment. Nafeel ko lang na hindi ako ganu'n ka-weird; may worries din talaga ang ibang tao. At kahit nga practical ang desisyon mo, minsan hindi ka pa rin nagiging masaya o fulfilled.

Take a Taste: with Meals from the Next Door Noodles by North Park [Recorded: May 19th, 2024]

Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.

And today's episode is we're at the outside of condo, to a 24-hour restaurant known as the "Next Door Noodles by North Park"! Yum-yum! 🥢🍜🍛🍚🍗🥩😋 So, the question was, is it worth our appetite? 🤔 Let's find out! 😁

BTW: So sorry for the long delay. Looks like, I have to finish this topic before we proceed to next month, we're I have some "unfinished business" with my 2023 photos.

So, without further ado, let’s get started:

• We're at the "Next Door Noodles by North Park" in Makati City 🍴🏮🏪 outside of our rent condo room, since the restaurants from the Jazz Residence we're closed until the next morning. Anyways, this restaurant have a selection of Asian-based cuisine of dishes, and its not just Filipino dishes and their well-known delicious noodles that they offered. Let my parents, and our siblings do the selection of meals. You just wait, okay you two? Good. 😊

• And now for some share info: The "Next Door Noodles by North Park" is a Filipino-based Chinese restaurant 🇵🇭🥢🍜🏢 established in 1974 by Raphael Soon, with their Peking Duck brought from China 🇨🇳🦆🍗, and sell it to the Philippine consumers (like us). Years later, in 1988, they opened their first establishment in Binondo, Manila 🏮⛩️🏙️ as a "Seafood Restaurant" 🦐🥢🏢, and soon it grows from one restaurant to another venue, and more. They evolved from a "Seafood" to a "Chinese style Noodle Restaurant" and their quality of ingredients to satisfy our taste buds.

• Anyways, our orders we're served to our table! Man, take a look at our meals from fried Calamaries, to Yang Chow Fried Rice, to Sweet & Sour Chicken, and my picked the "Boneless Chicken Curry" (with steamy rice, included)! Mmmmm! Yum-yum! 🦑🍚🍗🍛😋 But, what about the beverages? 🤔 We stick with nice pure mineral water over sugary beverages. 💧🥤😉

• Nonetheless, let's try my ordered "Boneless Chicken Curry"! And take a look at my construction, it looks delicious! 🍛🤤 But, let's see who is it tastes like. *munching* Wow! Damn, it's spicy, with no bones of course, and the rich creamy curry was astonishingly worth my taste buds, including my paper dolls who tasted my curry! 😃 But wait, was it spicy to your taste? 🌶️🥵 To me, this is fine! 😁

• So, how about trying the "Yang Chow Fried Rice", eh you two? 🍚😊 *munching* Wow, this one is amazing fried rice! It has a few chunks of meat spreading over the fried rice, it'll be worth combining with my "Boneless Chicken Curry", which we'll get to that in my next photo. 😋

• In addition to our current meals, my mom ordered a little healthy veggies of "Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce"! 🥦😃 And we all know, that "veggies" are the us when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, whether you ate it or not, like it or not, it doesn't matter! (And some of you, you've recognized from watching the "The Powerpuff Girls" episode 🥦🛸. Just saying, and I've been there.) Anyways, my paper dolls want some of that veggies as well, so I had to cut off the broccoli in half before we consumed it, and the taste was pretty damn good with or without oyster sauce/fried rice.😋 Sadly, this is the only one veggie we ate because my entire family ate it all without us to grab more. 😥 Still, it is good broccoli, nonetheless.🤤

• [20th to 22nd Images] Now, time to combine fried rice and curry to create a worthy meal for our appetite, *munching* and it did not disappoint us! It's so hot, that I can't stop eating it until I drink a glass of water. 🍛🌶️💧🤤

• [23rd Image] Other meals we haven't tried are Sweet & Sour Chicken (left) and fried calamari (that we're split into two chunks) (right) from before. 🍗🦑 Unfortunately, we've run out of fried rice (or steamed rice), so we have no choice but to consume these, anyway. *munching* Mmmm... I'd say they're both good. If I picked one, then I'd say the fried calamari one because of its right tender to ease my chewing! 😋

24th & 25th Image(s), and Overall: ↑

• Man, our stomach was stuffed from our great midnight dinner! 🤤 And overall, I would DEFINITELY... Or rather, WE would gonna go back to any "North Park" restaurants, anytime soon. Not only the decor and the atmosphere we're pretty good, but also the meals from the menu are worth it! We haven't tried their well-known "Noodle Soup", so maybe we'll be planning on that, someday. Price, on the other hand, is a little bit pricey compared to super budget restaurants, but the quality of their food did not disappoint our wallet. Sadly, they don't offer "Peking Duck" based dishes from their menu, anymore. 😥 We wish we wanted it, but I guess we'll just stick with roast chicken dishes, so this is fine by us. 😊

Why leaving the city to settle in the province is one of the best decisions in my life

I already drafted a post earlier, pero nawala lol. So, here's my second attempt.

Before the pandemic, I was living in a condo along EDSA with my then-fiancee now-husband. We paid 18K monthly for a studio-type condo, with pool and gym amenities. It was a dream come true for me since my previous homes in the metro were in not-so-Instagrammable places.

So a bit of a history of my living situations in NCR:

I left Laguna since HS for college and stayed in a dormitory. There were about 2-4 girls per room and my parents who crawled my expense through graduation often paid my rent late.

Then, I graduated and vowed to not have my parents pay a single cent for me anymore. I lived independently paying ALL of my living expenses including rent, food. My first home that I paid for myself is another dormitory with about a 7 x 7 room shared by another girl.

Then, I lived in with my then-fiancee and toxic ex in a 2-BR apartment in the middle of a busy Manila baranggay. When he left me, along with needing to pay some unpaid rent, I moved into a smaller a 1-BR apartment. Both were in the middle of a noisy, crazy Manila neighborhood where people drink and gossip 24/7.

So, fast forward to the pandemic doom, I got initial info (being an EHS & BCP person) that there would be lockdowns. My then-fiancee now-husband and I then rushed packing and left our condo unit (even after spending hours panic-buying some supplies) to go home. We never really imagined the pandemic lasting years, so for the first 3 months, we lived with our parents... transitioning between his parents' place and mine while we work remotely. But then, since we are getting married, we decided to buy a house. If there's one thing the pandemic made us realize is that HEALTH IS IMPORTANT... and he and I both know that we cannot live in a boxed condo as a permanent home. Luckily, his work perks allowed us to choose a model unit (fully furnished but a bit outdated) so it's basically ready for occupancy. It took us barely 6 months to get the papers settled (while also preparing for our wedding) but we got it.

We now live in a 2-story house located in a city in Laguna, near an SLEX exit. I'll save the logistical, administrative costs and construction gulatan costs for another story, but we were able to save enough to have some improvements like a gate, home gym, pocket garden, and repainting. We'll be spending our third Christmas (WOW) here and yes, it's still the life I want because:

Province life allows for a slower, mellower life. I am not sure if I can put it into words but there's something about waking up, walking down the stairs, taking a peek at the window and seeing Lolas sweeping their front yard, smiling and waving at you. There are neighbors who even if we rarely go out, reaches out to us to ask how we are, share a laugh or two. There are kids going to and from school. Even the traffic is way way better, not only because its decongested but because people are not in a rush? Like, kapag naluwas kami para pumasyal or for work, even a 2-3 second delay from the go-signal would cause people behind us to hit their horns like they are dying. Gulat na gulat kami at how full of rage drivers are, while here, people tend to give way. Though may mga kupal minsan, pero like 1:50 ang ratio compared sa NCR na 40:50 ata.

Everything is accessible. Maybe it's the smart location that the village is located, but Nuvali is 15 minutes away so we get to do our weekend runs and grocery shopping there every weekend. When we want a different view, Alabang or Makati is barely an hour away. We also have access to foodpanda and Grab, so we can also order food. And, when we grow tired of that, we also have an online Facebook page for the village where we can order food and have it delivered too. Kanina lang nga, dahil naka-isolation kami, pati pandesal inorder namin sa online village store.

The view can easily put you in a better mood. I remember during the MECQs, we'll just jump in the car and do a quick drive-thru run to Mcdonald's or Starbucks. We'll sometimes bring the cats with us para masanay sila. We'll eat inside the car, just open the windows a bit and see lush greens around us. On days when work feels too much or when I get depressive or anxious episodes, we'll just drive around, and instantly, I feel better as we pass by trees, farm lands and sunset view. When we run too, there's always a mini trail to discover.

We are nearer to our families. Though we may not be able to visit them as often as we want, but connecting is easier. We can have lunch outs over the weekends, or they can easily visit us at home and spend some time together. Malawak yun bahay at bakuran, so they can sleep over. Kapag may emergency, iba pa din yun may mga kakilala kahit paano na pwedeng takbuhan. We have my husband's office mates near the village and my Dad's office is also 30 minutes away from where we live. So, minsan sa amin din sya nauwi. Our house also offers a breathe of fresh air sa Mom ko when she wants to relax and play with her apos aka cats LOL.

Expenses are cheaper. Gas, groceries, services are cheaper here. Though we are not safe from the ~golden era~, we do have options like talipapa or wet markets. Since nearer din kami sa mga sakahan or isdaan, mas mura din talaga yun mga fresh produce. Sa Nuvali and LB area, madalas din may community market. Also, the 18K rent we paid for the condo? Imagine we pay less than that and we are owning this house after a few years. To share, even the 7K rent I paid for the 1-BR apartment can pay for a house here in Laguna too. No, I don't think renting is a waste of money since tinitirhan nyo naman sya, but imagine how getting a house can be a future asset (yun lupa, hindi yun bahay, but that's also another topic). But basically, LAND does not decrease in value ever. Ever ever. Kaya din bahay kinuha namin over condo.

There is space - to move, to breathe and to grow. Literally and figuratively. Literally, I am lucky to have my own home gym, and garden and garage that like now that we are in isolation, we can move around. It's easier to partition our lives between work and home, kasi may home office din ako. May place to sleep, to eat, to work out and that's important for an ADHD person like me. There also is room to grow... ewan ko pero the more I see how people can live in the provinve, the more lumawak yun pananaw at pangarap ko. No, I don't want a bigger house, but I now know that having a slow and steady life is possible. Yun, hindi kailangan pagod at ngarag to earn money, because people here, maraming may passive income and all. Parang here, money flows in even when you don't do much. Hindi ko ma-explain pero siguro totoo yun kapag mas malawak yun paligid mo, mas feeling mo din hindi ka nakakahon? (Though, we really need to do some spring cleaning LOL kasi ang kalat na ng bahay.)

My mental health has greatly improved. Probably because of all the reasons mentioned above. But, you know, taking myself away from that hustle and bustle of the city, really allowed me to slow down and think about what I really want in life. Dito sa probinsya ko narealize na life doesn't need to be complicated. Dito ko din na-allow ang sarili ko stop when I tend to want want want a lot? Kasi, in the midst of every grit and grind work day, masaya ako to just slow down, have a coffee or a glass of wine and spend time with my husband and cats. And really, that's all I need. In a world that tells you that you need to work-out, prep food, be excellent at work, learn new things, have a hobby, stay connected with loved ones and all sorts of MUSTS, the province life allowed me to tone it down and just do what I can. The more we do so much minsan, the more we lose who we are... or that's how I feel. The province life allows me to be just me~ whoever I want to be.

I know not everyone has this privilege, and for this I am grateful - for the opportunities that came our way, for the blessings given to us and for the hard work we put in. 🧿 It's weird pero the pandemic really did turn our life around, kasi naipakita sa akin kung ano yun importante - Health, connections and peace of mind. Yan lang pala talaga kailangan ko.

So, anyways, ayun lang. If you have the chance, give it a think. Alam ko hindi lahat possible ito sa work nila, but this is also why I chose to make it a non-negotiable when I consider work offers. Either remote or hybrid. Because this is now home and I can't sacrifice this peace for career progression or additional pay.

I hope you read this not feeling like I am boasting. Sa totoo lang, hindi ko inakalang dadating ako sa ganitong level of contentment... o baka natuto lang talaga akong maging grateful sa araw-araw. Good or bad, there's always something positive (gaya ng antigen test namin, eme). Nagpapasalamat lang talaga ako sobra for being here... so I really try to pay it forward too. My husband, I noticed, does the same na din. Every chance we get, we share our blessings.

Universe, thank you. I trust that 2023 would only bring us closer to the simple farm life we want. 🧿. 🪬. 👁️‍🗨️.

Okay Monday

So, it's been an "okay" Monday overall. Since I only had one billable task for the day (plus my backlog trainings, which should take me around 20-30 minutes later, hopefully), I guess I wasn't stressed that much. I ran some condo-related errands for our family this afternoon, but other than that, nothing too ordinary today (I hope).

The thing, though, is that I need to fall asleep around 7:30 or 8:00 PM, since I'll wake up around 3AM tomorrow early morning (bale, 7 or 7.5 hours of sleep). But idk if I'll be able to do that without triggering my GERD/indigestion (since I finished dinner around 6:15 PM), so idk. Maybe I'll just play Genshin later while waiting for bedtime. That way, I wouldn't complain as much. :))

But, yeah, overall, kinda excited for tomorrow, I guess, since I missed going to the office (and Makati CBD in general). Hehe. Sana may cute jk.

good morning, tumblr! i hope everyone is doing okay and i hope everyon has a really lovely thursday

currently in bgc this morning kasi may site visit ako at 10 am until mga 12 nn lang siguro kasi may need lang ako icheck na mga punhchlist items

im mentally prepping myself nga din kasi may chance na di ako makakasakay ng elevator sa condo na pupuntahan ko kasi apparently strict sila with that pero either way i know ill be fine naman; i have water and my panyo and a fan to hep me if ever nga i need to go up 9 flights of stairs

after my site visit, i need to go back home din kaagad kasi may meeting kami ng boss ko with a developer for one of their new projects so hopefully workable yung schedule nila not like the other project they wanted us to bid for early this year kasi name palang ng project na to this time around is very very interesting so hopefully it all works out

its so so so cold, kahit kanina pa sa car, lamig na lamig ako

yesterday was so fun, na surprise nga kuya ko when my cousins came into our dining room tapos we just ended up eating and laughing the day away and im just so happy na my brother is home na ulit

im super excited for the rest of march though kasi next weekend, pupunta kaming elyu and then sa last week naman ng march,we’re off to japan! im super duper excited to finally have time with my family and travel with them aborad ulit nang kumpleto kaming lahat

for tomorrow naman, finally matutuloy na yung showroom tour namin to makati so im reallly excited for that too para naman maganda yung end ng week namin
