Also, let's be real. My husband is a CDL driver. Started in school buses at $18. Then went to garbage at $25. Now he works in concrete for $26. (Texas)

Those dollar amounts are all entry level pay. If you get with a good company that cares about you, that number will go up with years of experiance. Not to mention at both the garbage and concrete places, he got quarterly safety bonuses just for not having accidents. The concrete place even has a load bonus, so any time he does 100 loads in one month, he gets a little boost added to his quarterly.

Depending on your state, a class B CDL can be hard to acquire, but he did it through the school bus place. They hired him without a license, and his training was on-site. Now that he has it, it can never be taken away as long as he maintains his TDOT physical(yearly physical usually paid for by his current employer if they are a CDL job), and doesn't do something stupid (like drive drunk or some shit).

So sure. Is 'garbage man' glamorous? Hell no. But will it allow him to provide for himself and any future family he has? Will it allow him a comfortable life? Yes. Yes it will.

And the CDL industry is crying out for people right now. Especially school buses. (They usually pay the least though).

Anyway. Just thought I'd share the practical side of this dad being a good dad.

Okay another weird question for y'all: What's the least concerning way to tell someone why you are sitting/laying on the floor in public, if the reason is "my POTS is acting up and if I stayed standing up I might pass out, I'll be fine as long as I stay here until my heart rate comes down"

#the person behind the yarn #it's been a long time since I had my heart rate hit quite that number in public #but today it got up into the high 150s #as I was sorta half sitting half leaning on the tailgate of my mom's truck in her driveway #as she went to the backyard to grab something and I was like ah. too high #better sit down on the ground so if I fall it won't be far #but then I was like. sitting on her driveway #sorta half lounging on her driveway #because I didn't want to get my hair directly on the concrete but I also didn't want to fall over #so it sorta looked like I fell out of the back of the truck onto the driveway #I was fine! I'd just overdone it standing still as soon as I sat down for a while my heart rate went way down #but uh. I realized I don't have a script for if it happens even more in public than my mom's driveway #and like. it will. I should have a short blurb prepared ahead of time because I can't think well when my blood pressure is low enough #for me to need surprise floor time. like. if I need the floor time unexpectedly I can't also be thinking of solutions to problems

i close my eyes, and i perceive the visions that seep through to the forefront of my mind. i nod, and i post. what if crystal joined the aquato's circus when she's older.

this just came to me lol, but while i do like my headcanon that she works primarily at the camps training tender brains, that recent scott c art where she's doing the splits with clem piqued my interest. i think gymnastics remain an interest to her, even if she moves on from cheerleading. she does like to dance, and she's flexible, but i do think she loses some of that flexibility when she doesn't train. there are opportunities that are taken from her, and she only starts being out there again when she's in the intern program. being free to dance or exercise or do gymnastics according to how she wants, it's nice!

as the aquatos, i think donatella would see some serious potential in her. to me, crystal isn't a very powerful psychic. at least, in the offenseive department. she's *physically* strong, though. i think she'd still have an interest in performance arts, and little acrobatic flourish sounds fun! this is all very early and basic in my thoughts, but donatella would be pretty encouraging with her, probably meeting her during her tenure in the intern program, maybe swooping in like a hawk and plucking her back to her circus tent lol. new daughter!! (i'll come back to this with something more concrete when my brain isn't fried from writing four short oneshots in a single night)
