any suggestions on how reduce screen time and stop wasting time on social media?
a hard one (who doesnt spend a little bit too much in their phones) but a few ideas to try out
A widget on your phone about how much screen time you had. A lot of phones come with this option, it lets you know how much time you spend entirently on your phone and usually, the top 3 most used apps of the day. There is nothing that makes one feel more guilty than going to watch tiktok and next to the app there is widget that tells you you already spend 2hours and 30 minutes on it that day.
Social media feeds are made to be addictive, that's why you open the app to see a notification and end up spending 3 hours on it. If you think something like "I'm just going to see if my crush posted a story" or "I'll see how my lastest post did and then i'll do the homework" DONT. You'll open the app with the intention of only 5 minutes and we all know it isnt going to be 5 minutes.
Set alarms. Set a "goal" like, only using it for 20 minutes. Set the alarm in your phone and when it sounds, close the app.
Try other activities. We mostly go to our phones because we are bored. Go on a walk, clean you room, cook cookies, read a book, draw, talk to someone irl. Look for alternatives. Some of them will be difficult at start (social media is known for ruining attention span and things like reading requiere that), do it gradually.
Hope this helps!

I fully intended to get a bunch of work done this week but then I got hit by a hurricane! Very fun! (we've had very little property damage other than this poor tree)
We lost power for a While tho so I physically couldn't work on quite a few projects. Thankfully I have a folder full of random ancient doily patterns that I can start at any time. This doily is Oak Leaves and just looking at the charts I think it's going to be quite beautiful.

It's currently 4pm and I still have 2 more hours to go. I'm kind of proud of myself for not giving in, because my friends were eating lots of delicious food BUT I stayed strong. 😁
I didn't feel really hungry throughout the day but now that I'm home I'm starting to feel it. BUT I will keep on going.
Only 2 more hours.... ☺️

Launched just last week, the channel is already gaining traction with its carefully curated collection of music designed to soothe the mind and body. Focusing on calming melodies, ambient soundscapes, and nature-inspired tracks, A Peaceful Perch caters to a wide range of needs, from meditation and yoga to study and sleep.
"We wanted to create a space where people could escape the stresses of everyday life and find a moment of peace," says [Channel Creator's Name], the brains behind the project. "Our music isn't just about entertainment; it's about promoting well-being and helping people connect with their inner calm."
The channel's description emphasizes the scientifically proven benefits of relaxation, citing studies that link it to lower blood pressure, reduced stress, and even boosted immunity. But the creators believe that relaxation offers more than just physical perks.
"Relaxation is a gateway to creativity, intuition, and a deeper sense of inner peace," says [Channel Creator's Name]. "We hope that our music can inspire people to slow down, take a deep breath, and rediscover the joy of simply being."
A Peaceful Perch is already garnering positive feedback from viewers, with many praising the channel's calming atmosphere and the high quality of its music selections. It seems that the channel has struck a chord with those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

"There are tendencies in modern history that produce the Kafkan in the broad social dimension: the progressive concentration of power, tending to deify itself; the bureaucratization of social activity that turns all institutions into boundless labyrinths; and the resulting depersonalization of the individual."

okay i need to complain. and since english is not my first language this won't even make sense, but hear me out.
i love the dynamic of a deaf person in a ff relationship (hope this doesn't sound ableist or something, i just love how the communication is developed in a non-verbal way), but unless i'm mistaken, there are no signs specifically for names in a universal way.
i'm basing this on my knowledge of the italian sign language, but i think it's similar in other countries too: people can choose their own sign-name, and this is often based on personal attributes, sometimes even physical attributes. this sign-name is what identifies a person, but the only way to associate it with a specific word is to spell all the letters in the sign alphabet.
a sign-name does not represent the word of someone's name, it represents the person directly. if you think about it, it's beautiful and poetic in a whole other way and it's a shame that this is not included in fictional works.
i know that writing characters with a disability like deafness if you don't know any deaf people is hard, understanding a whole other language just for writing fanfictions is difficult and maybe you don't think it's worth it, but you should give it a try. i'm reading so much stuff in which sign language is described as if it's the same of verbal language and it really is not.
please think about it for any of your future works, there's so much amazing stuff that you can learn!
