on the other hand, the wiki speculation on the shogi player guy who faces shuukichi actually makes him really suspicious, yikes
like, sure, he hasn’t done anything suspicious, but that’s exactly what makes him suspicious
#by wiki i mean detectiveconanworld btw#and with gosho it's always the ones who seem nice who end up being BO members in the end#better wait another 4 years and 20+ murder cases for rum's identity to be confirmed yay#detective conan#neneko talks about stuff

oh boy, Sabretooth (2022) #1. been waiting months for this book. and...
i’m doing this “review” a bit differently as normally i read the book on phone and type up something fast. this time i’m kinda doing when i “live blog” something i’m watching, since i’m sitting at my tower to do this one. i’m doing it this way because i think i’ll have a lot of feels and things to say about this book, one way or another. so be prepared for a lot of rambling stream of consciousness
so the first few pages i had to go back and look at again, because i noticed that his eyes are red with black sclera. so...is this his memory of the trial then?
the memos are from...who? now, i kinda think the memo schtick is stupid, and takes you out of the story emersion, and have from the start of the island of stupid saga. yes, in a few places they work, but in others they just confuse what the story is saying, and again they break the story emersion. it sounds like it’s Vic making the memo, but then i have to ask; how and why? that just breaks the story emersion even more, since you could believe that a char we were watching in a scene was writing the memo (as in Hellions with Sage) or the memo was something seen by the characters in eth story (like Arkady’s resurrection memo in Lives). but this one doesn’t feel like it comes from anywhere narratively speaking? is this just his internal diary? i just...i don’t like the memo schtick
the recap states that he was indeed resurrected (presumably after War of the Realms terribleness) and again i have to question, why didn’t you just grow a Sabretooth you could control Chucky-boy?? but it also highlights the fact that the laws, which Vic was imprisoned for breaking, were made AFTER he committed the crimes, so...
yeah going back to my first point; his eyes were invert red in the trial, but are blue in the wilderness scene...until Jean mind-zaps him. ok is this just artistic failings? or are we in memory again...which begs the question, was that a real memory? did the *good guys* swoop in and snatch him? coloring and context did not make any of that more clear from the inked page previews ^^;
oh ok, it was a memory/dream thing. huh...so my “WandaVision story plot” of Vic being in the pit, thinking he’s living in suburbia with Arkady and Belle with Clare and Kyle at college only to have the psychic imprint of Birdy show up to bring him to his senses in time for Arkady to jail break him...is actually nearly canon compliant...neat (i also never got around to getting to finish it before this came out despite the extra month, whoops)
the montage of fights. -offing Charles, yay -offing Danny, iffy; last they saw each other they were on pretty good terms AND Danny seemed to be one of the few people who recognized Vic was trying to do and be better. now to be fair, this is very clearly classic Iron Fist, which Danny was not sporting during the Legacy arc, so this could just be a case of reliving a memory but twisting it to a “better outcome” -offing all the ferals; meh. i’m not deep diving to ID them all, but i feel like that’s Kyle in the foreground and....why do they keep putting 616 Kyle in his AoA garb? it might not be Kyle, but Hellions did it too, and it’s just confusing
the Captain, the Boy, and the Beast. love that they referenced the correct designs (well nearly; i feel like Captain should have a ponytail, cause most times he’s been in a suit like that it was with longer hair). i wonder if the Cat is also a part of him...
fantasy montage time! -Conan/DnD? um yes please -curious that he went with Starjammers. did he ever have a run in with them? i can’t recall that honestly
what is with Black Tom Cassidy??? why is this dude so important that he appears EVERYWHERE????
hey, Starjammer force ghost Creed is threatening that one Morlock hairy dude. i recognize that
kinda interesting that he created a hell to rule...seeing as he’d been to one...and escaped, then went back, and was released again...or are we not going to reference Weapon X-Force like everyone else won’t. also, it looks like he’s wearing a cheap Loki helmet, or is it just me?
ok and we have our 5 fellow pit prisoners and...they are random people i do not recognize. why did you setup sending people to the pit if you weren’t gonna use them? i mean, i guess this negates my complaint that Xmen Green, an Infinity exclusive, was essential reading behind a paywall, because guess what it’s not. but really, randoms? what happened to “no prisons on krakoa” and “capital punishment is for the unenlightened and we are so much better than they are blahblahblah”. wasn’t it a big deal sticking Orphan Maker in the Pit? and here you are just throwing 5 randos willynilly? also...isn’t this Vic’s headspace, how are THEY in his head? is the island doing this? did it decide to mindmeld the gang together? are there even MORE people in the Pit than we were led to believe then???
wait...my brain might’ve clicked on. Madison Jefferies...he was in the Weapon X program when Vic had short hair, tatts, and wore black leather, and Kyle was bald in black leather. he made Neverland. i liked that series, it had some good writing.
still no clue who anyone else is, but maybe we’ll find that they all are connected somehow to him? like whether literally (like Jefferies) or in a reflective/metaphor way?
also...the island is creepy. my creepy idea that the island caused Misha isn’t so far fetched now if it can mindmeld its captives and has the initiative to do so...
over all, i...i don’t know what to feel??? waiting so many months for this book, hoping it’d be good and...well it is. the character introspection is good, and i expect it to get better. but how this ties into the overall narrative...that’s where it’s failing for me right now, and honestly that has been an overall problem with the island of stupid saga. everything is *supposed* to be connected, but it feels like nothing is. this, if it was a standalone (or had happened much sooner in the timeline) would be really good. but since it’s supposed to be a piece in the larger puzzle it’s...confusing. idk. only #1 of 5 after all, maybe it’s spot on the narrative will fall into proper place...or maybe this is all just one character piece. and i think i’d be ok with that in the end, but it’s hard to see that right now.
#kp reads comics#kp rants about comics#dont worry the Lives 2 will be my usual quick thoughts#is is wrong that i'm kinda happy my preorder for this was canceled cause I'm not sure i really like-like it yet?

Aniplex Fugou Keiji Livestream | Fugou Keiji 2 | Kitsutsuki 2 - 4 | Arte 3 - 12 (FINAL) | Fruits Basket 27 - 32
During the Millionaire Detective: Unmissable livestream (part of FunimationCon and Aniplex Online Fest), I watched and took notes, so you might find these handy upon retrospect. To be honest, this is how I do the posts for magicalgirlsandcerulean’s livestreams as well, but there hasn’t been one of those in a while...
Otherwise, these are all normal notes.
Aniplex Fugou Keiji Livestream
Look out for the dancer from the OP
Onuki was the model for the dancing for the anime – he was told to do it out of the blue
Episode 11 might have one of these^ be relevant
Daisuke’s cup ramen has shark fin in it and he made the packaging from scratch – that’s why it’s so expensive!
The director Tomohiko Ito omits important information, allowing people to decide for themselves what happened. (Miyano) – This might be why the series is stylish. (MC)
Attractiveness of character design is important! (for adapting Fugou Keiji to modern day)
I’ve never watched a livestream where the stars were so conscious of their English and Chinese audiences! This was interesting, especially because Onuki is not normally known as a VA!
“We still have a little bit of recording to do.”
Fugou Keiji 2
I keep misunderstanding my own instructions…this starts again in July after ep 2.
Todai = Tokyo Daigaku (Uni).
I believe this is the 2nd time I’ve seen a rich person like commoner’s instant noodles, although I forget where I saw the 1stinstance.
Kambe switched to the back seat now, huh?
Ah! Now I remember! The first time was seeing spoilers for this episode on Twitter! (LOL)
I see Suzue has a sensible naming scheme for her data.
Hmm…judging by the Google hits, the name visible in the background (Betbeto bin Abura) is the Arabic prince from last time.
SYN-ACK. I see these guys did their work – that’s the final stage of the 3 stage handshake required for things like internet sockets (used to send “packets” of data).
Way to crash a party, Kambe siblings…(LOL)
I really wanna see someone draw Kato slapping (Daisuke) Kambe in the face with a wad of cash…or a “shut up and take my money” meme with Kambe in it.
I like how “special cup ramen” is on the purchases list and it costs 100000 yen. I also like how the reporter Mita was bought out for 5000000 yen (bigger than all the other individual costs except for buying out the Tower)…that’s how he showed up.
Kitsutsuki 2
I gotta finish this show and then pause it…3 shows in my normal lineup are safe.
Did Kindaichi take the bones of the fish out for Ishikawa…? Like a child would have had done for them?
Why is Ishikawa being referred to as “Hajime”…?
Draw this prostitute like one of your French girls…(LOL?)
Ishikawa clearly dropped those coins into that book earlier.
Way to diss the potential asexuality/celibacy in the house. I mean, it’s the 1800s – early 1900s, so there was less LGBTIQ+ stuff then and certainly the further back you go, the more sexual prowess becomes a sign of masculinity, but still, if the guy doesn’t want to go through with it, don’t force him.
Notice how the borders were pink for Ishikawa’s version and blue for Kindaichi’s.
Notably, Otaki didn’t seem to have that hairpin…but maybe that’s because we saw things from Ishikawa’s perspective.
Ooh…who are these bois? Also, crab.
Kitsutsuki 3
…cat? Now there’s a new perspective. That’s like saying the butler did it.
Yay! Hagiwara is Ume!
Notice Hagiwara’s version has a purple frame, while Yoshii (?) has yellow and another person has dark blue.
I think “consumption” was tuberculosis, once upon a time.
I love how the crowd is fed up with Ishikawa’s bulls***.
Ooh, chuuni Akutagawa…
In a Grove is the Rashomon story.
Tarou Hirai = Rampo Edogawa.
You stalker, future Rampo!
I kinda suspected Otaki when I thought through the possibilities…Ishikawa, Kindaichi, an outsider, Otaki (and as of this ep, Rampo too).
Gaiheikan? Is that Ishikawa and co.’s lodging?
Did they have pencils back in that day?
Kitsutsuki 4
Humouresques.
Kabayaki.
I think it was in Detective Conan that I learnt (one of) the only way(s) a man can get his nails done is by his wife doing it for him, possibly as a prank or to indicate he’s “taken”. Note this was early Detective Conan, so it’s very much a 90s attitude…considering the widespread acceptance of drag queens and the LGBTIQ+ movement these days.
Kozukata.
Lace flower.
Maichou seems to be a hybrid of Asahi Shinbun and Mainichi Shinbun.
[Monkfish/dictionary/going home] - Is this how Ishikawa shows consideration…?
The purple letterrboxing is back but this time with Ishikawa…meaning that’s just an aesthetic thing for all flashbacks after all.
Just from vaguely hearing it (I’ve got the volume on low), the words are nodo tsuki/nodo zuki. “Throat moon/throat wound” works just as well, if not better.
Balsam flower.
Update: Since enough anime fulfilled the special COVID-19 criteria, Kitsutsuki was put on hold after this.
Fruits Basket 2 2 (27)
I’ve read Another, remember?…so I kind of know what happens.
Uo’s got purple nails…that’s surprisingly cute of her.
Aw, Kureno! Another Ume role!
Why is “shisho” (master) not translated…? A weird Tokyopop-era translation quirk?
Aw, Shisho cut his hair…? Bummer.
Who was that? Shigure…?(!) Update: We find out his name later in this ep.
“If you continue to change, I’ll continue to protect you.” – Another quote for the archive.
Great…I feel personally called out by this ep.
Fruits Basket 2 3 (28)
It seems all male designers wear their designs if they have no one else to wear them…at least, that’s what I’ve gathered from Hajime (Runway de Waratte) and Ayame.
I remember Ayame stood in for Yuki’s parents in the manga at one point. This must be it.
(Spoilers for later!) I also remember Mine and Ayame get married at the end…This is the prelude to that.
Dang, Ayame, you moment-ruiner!
Fruits Basket 2 4 (29)
Did anyone in the doorway hear about Hatsuharu turning into an ox?
To quote Sailor Mercury, “Douse yourself in water and repent!”
Ooh, window splitting Yuki and Haru. Nice cinematography going on here.
I bet all people think they only think about themselves, in one way or another.
Arashiyama tofu.
Yatsuhashi are great. They’re these sweet triangle things like samosas that come in various flavours. Mitarashi dango are sticky brown skewered balls of glutinous rice…which I’ve never had, but I’ve seen them in enough anime to know what they are.
I only just realised this, but Yuki’s hairstyle isn’t even on both sides, like Atsushi from BSD’s.
Huh…you can see a copy of Mogeta and Ari (as it turns out, “Ari” is the name of a character and not “ant” at all in this case) on Haru’s bed. There’s also an article in one of the magazines discussing how denim is the popular thing now and which types are in right now.
Fruits Basket 2 5 (30)
I realised Yuki isn’t calling Tohru by her first name – he’s going against Haru’s advice.
Hmm? Why should anyone ask a rabbit to hold their horses…? (LOL)
CGI cars…*sigh*
Tororo is grated yam, IIRC.
I learnt recently that nanban means “savage” or “uncivilised”…for a potato and chicken dish, the name and the contents don’t really match…Update: Nanban means “savage” (noun) or “barbarian”. Close enough.
17-26…age gap 9 years…yikes…
The words “(a happy, yet) caged bird” come to mind when Kureno describes himself. Also, Kureno is an Ume role! Yippee!
Ahh…young love…even if it has a bit of an awkward edge to it. Mind the (age) gap!
Me being the Ume stan, of course I want to hear those sweet nothings in his voice, even if it has to be via a proxy like Uotani…I wouldn’t be an Ume stan if I didn’t.
…Ah, I see. Uotani reminds me of Minare from Wave and vice versa.
Oh, I just remembered Akito is 20 or thereabouts. Kureno/Akito is only a bit more legal than Uotani and Kureno.
Arte 3
Notice Leo never once uses Arte’s name in the lady’s presence. Her name does have some infamy to it, after all.
“She’s got some guts.” – You say that at a live dissection…LOL.
Is this love~? What’s the age gap between Leo and Arte, anyway? Update: We know for sure Arte is older than 13…that’s it.
Make the things you want prominent with perspective and such. I thought that much was obvious, but for someone straightforward like Arte, I guess it ain’t so. (Maybe it’s because I’m self-taught to some degree when it comes to art.)
*sketching by candlelight* - You’re gonna ruin your eyes, Arte!
Arte, ma girl! You’re getting’ a raise! Good job!
Arte 4
Anime makes this courtesan stuff sound like a host club…(?)
I thought Leo was saying “Aria” for a second instead of Arte, LOL. I’m getting too used to that being my alias…
Arte 5
The speech bubble said “so annoying I could die”.
Arte 6
The video’s gone all pixelated…at least, the subs have…
I bet she’s going to fall over…Update: Nup, she didn’t.
Arte 7
I thought Yuri was a Russian name…or a Japanese one.
This is basically Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine all over again! (LOL)
I thought Yuri would be pushy…like, “Here’s an offer you can’t refuse.” That kind of thing. Likewise, I didn’t think Arte would refuse.
Leo? *dun-dun-DUN!*
Siena is apparently in Tuscany. Also, I did see the Silent Manga Audition page had a chapter on a pregnant woman, so this is ch. 17 or thereabouts.
Is Ruthanna not getting the money because she’s pregnant…?
Epidemic? The Black Death?...Speaking of which, Arte is very much of that ganbaru spirit. By being progressive for her time, she becomes ordinary in our time.
Ohhhhhhh! It’s a reverse harem in progress here!...This would be a good otome game, come to think of it. It’s framed the same way.
Leo can be surprisingly childish at times, don’t you think?
Arte 8
…Really? She fell overboard? *raises eyebrow*
Ooh, china (with and without capitalisation).
Is this another sarcastic child…? Oh, bother. Still, I can see why Hamefura crossed over with Arte now…Katarina vs. Catarina!
Arte 9
Bigoli is a type of pasta, as can be guessed from context.
The kanji for the episode title literally translate to “bad child”! Like the Tones and I song, LOL!
Mikata (ally).
Arte 10
This episode is giving off a Katarina x Gimo ship vibe…but with how young they are, I’m not sure I should ship it. They’re 6, aren’t they…?
Oh, you can see Katarina and Sofia’s hug in one of the ED frames.
Arte 11
Arte’s let her hair grow out…
An Italian man…bowed. In Renaissance Italy. Now I understand what all the ANN complaints are for.
What’s up with that kid’s face…? *grumbles*
Leo’s just being Leo, I see.
That’s right, Angelo and Leo never met.
Instead of a father or a brother overly cherishing his daughter, it’s the uncle…I never thought I’d see the day I saw something like that.
Arte 12 (FINAL)
Is this like Orientalism, but with gender…? (What would you call that?)
Lemme guess…Leo is working on the church mural and so he’s away?
Was that Leo, in the middle of the mural somewhere…?
Another Japanese bow in this anime, which is set in Italy.
But where is Arte herself in that mural?
Fine = end.
Fruits Basket 31
The word Momiji is using is “hisso” or something like that. Hissho is secretary, so the translator made it “secret getaway” to make it work.
That hat! *laser stare*
*one of the textbooks has “high school chemistry” on it* Tohru can do chemistry?! I suck at chemistry!
The episode title is translated as “Are you really this stupid?” It seems the real line for that was “Are you an idiot?”
Something about high school girls appeared in my head when Haru mentioned Shigure wanting to see Tohru in her tight swimsuit…*mumbles grumpily about pervs*
Kyo’s not wet, even though he got in the water! Amazing!
I think it’s sad that Tohru responds to “stupid girl” like it’s her own name.
“…that makes you suspect me?” seems better.
The Akito and Shigure age gap is somewhere between 6 and 8 years, IIRC.
Fruits Basket 32
Tohru switched from okaasan (mother) to okattekita (a formal past tense verb meaning either “bought”, “lent” or “won” based on the characters…which I don’t have a reference for). I assume because it was so off the mark, the subbers chose a similarly off the mark word.
“When I was a kid, I thought watermelons would sprout in my stomach if I ate the seeds.”
We only know about Kyo’s dad so far…hmm…what about the mother? Update: (TW: suicide) I think it was at this point we already knew that Kyo’s mother didn’t love him and committed suicide, but it’s not certain until later.
Why do doctors always use scalpels and syringes as weapons…? I mean, even Jakurai’s symbol in ARB is a syringe!
I’ve been wondering…how big is the Sohma family? Is it diluted enough that Haru and Rin can love each other without genetic problems for their child/ren? (From Another, I would say the answer is “yes”, but shoujo normally doesn’t care about this sort of thing, which is why I ask in the first place.)
Shigure seems like the type to say, “U mad, bro?”
The mansion looks like the one in Haruhi Suzumiya, if I remember the appearance of that one correctly.

Phantom Thief! Park Jihoon
This is legit the whole reason I’m starting this blog sovdbiosb. Inspired by Detective Conan, Saint Tail and the Cat’s Eye because they’re nostalgic asf and I love them. Also, Jihoon in a white suit would be a pleasant sight.
rightrightight ok
phantom thief! jihoon works with phantom thief! park woojin
they go by the name “PS”
which everyone thinks means something deep af
PS actually stands for “Pink Sausage”
but no one needs to know
everyone also thinks that it’s just one person
but in this au everyone’s clueless so please let it slide
what do they steal?
they steal hearts
lol jk
the two steal “priceless” paintings, sculptures and all sorts of art resulting in the town calling them art thieves
but the only art the duo steals are the ones that don’t belong where they are
they also drop not so subtle hints at the police about the illegal item
for example, there was this one time when an owner of a museum put up a painting of the famous “Cafe Terrace at Night” by Vincent van Gogh, claiming that it was the original
he wanted more publicity for the museum
surprise, surprise
it was a fake
the citizens were clueless lmao
so off went the pink sausages
the museum and the fake painting was the headline on next morning’s newspaper
how the two know of the frauds you ask?
associate! jisung runs a coffee shop down the block and overhears everything
you would think that the police would let them be because they’re doing the right thing, bUT NO
speaking of the police
you are the daughter of a famous detective who has solved many crimes
you’ve grown up seeing your dad work and reading detective novels
you were like, “i wanna be a detective lmao how hard can it be”
its hard
especially when you use your dad’s high position and become a junior detective of some sorts
and get assigned to the PS case
ok that’s fine but,
yOU’VE BEEN ASSIGNED TO THIS BLOODY CASE SINCE THIRD YEAR OF JUNIOR HIGH BUT YOUR ASS HAS BEEN CHASING AFTER THIS DUMB THIEF FOR THREE YEARS TO NO AVAIL
BUT THE WORDS “GIVE UP” DON’T EXIST IN YOUR DICTIONARY
“technically you could just let it slide and half ass your work,, i mean,,, they’re not stealing anything just for the sake of it-”
SLAMS DESK
“YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND JINYOUNG, STEALING IS STEALING AND THEY SHOULD FACE THE CONSEQUENCE FOR IT”
HUFFS AND WALKS AWAY
PS has been sending you calling cards on what, where and when they’ll be stealing something next
per your request of course
you kinda just screamed at one of the two one night while chasing them,
“heY, PS, YEAH YOU.”
HUFFS
“MAN, I’M NOT FIT ENOUGH STOP RUNN I N G”
“oK THAT’S IT IM STOPPING”
PS stopped to look at you in amusement
“I’M NOT LETTING YOU GO JUST BECAUSE IM NICE THOUGH,,,, NOT BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO DIE FROM SPRINTING” yeah, totally
“LOOK,,,, SINCE I’M SO NICE, CAN YOU AT LEAST NOTIFY ME WHEN YOU’RE GONNA STEAL SOMETHING NEXT??“
he left without answering you
you were dejected
but then a note came for you!!
yay!!!
not like it help a whole lot but,,,
back to the present,
so, you’re in your last year of high school
park jihoon and park woojin happen to go to the same school as you but you, for some reason, have never ran into either of them in your whole high school career
you have but you’re oblivious af
the two know you of course
they fucking notify you every fortnight about their heists how could they not know you
heck, everyone knows you
you’re that one detective who’s never solved a case
but because fate loves a good show, jihoon transfers to your chemistry class in the middle of year
you’re like
????
in the dab smack middle of the year??? what- how-
apparently, he somehow screwed up a experiment in physics and the teacher had enough lmao
wow what a great thief amirite
your class bursts into whispers as soon as he steps in the lab
you just,,,, sent an uninterested glace his way then buried your head in your arms and went back to sleep
liSTEN,,,,, IT WASN’T YOUR FAULT THAT PS DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT TO SHOW UP
“ok guys, this is park jihoon, he’s a new addition to the class.”
“ohmygod he’s adorable”
“bless the heavens for some eye candy at last”
“look y/n it’s a cute dude why aren’t you reacting”
“fuck off, daehwi”
“alrighty jihoon you can sit next to bae jinyoung at the back over there. raise your hand jinyoung”
jihoon heads over to jinyoung and brushes past you on his way
you glance up as he does and you thought you saw him smirk? ?? ? ?
“how tired am i tf”
it’s not your imagination, jihoon recognizes you
“y/N I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU PAYED ATTENTION TO CLASS”
“MR KIM YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND,,,,,, I’M TIRED”
“I DON’T CARE????? DO YOU WANT TO PASS OR NOT”
AGGRESSIVELY HUFFS
after the class, jihoon rushes up to you and asks for your chemistry notes
“hi! y/n is it? could i borrow your notes?”
“?? you couldn’t borrow baejin’s?? why me?”
“uh,,,, i couldn’t read his handwriting,,,,, yeah! that’s why!!”
sounds fake but ok
you end up surrendering your chemistry notes to him
“thanks y/n!! you’re a life saver!!”
runs off like the cutie he is
daehwi slides up to you with jinyoung in tow while wiggling his eyebrows
“jinyoung has really neat handwriting if you ask me”
“yeah well, you’re practically in love with him so you think everything about him is neat”
“i- you’re not wrong”
jihoon returns your book to you the next lesson and everything goes as per usual for the next two weeks
until the next calling card arrives with a bang
literally
you opened your book, expecting nothing to happen
but a fucking balloon went off above you or something the moment you opened it
and the calling card falls down with colored confetti onto your head
“i’ll be taking the sculpture from Jung’s house tonight -PS”
BITCHWHATTHEFUCK
normally, calling cards would arrive without much,,, pow
like in the mailbox
all the students around you were shook
as were you
jihoon was just,,,,,, hiding his grin
daehwi and jinyoung walk into the class, takes one look at you and goes,
“what happened to you”
“it looks like a unicorn pooped on you”
“thanks”
jihoon’s new hobby unlocked!
teasing y/n!
so from then on out, all the calling cards would arrive with a huge noise
you hated the attention you were getting along with it
people actually thought you worked with PS!!
ok but jihoon would have the time of his life planning
“should i just write jeojang on the school notice board and the details underneath?”
“.... jihoon, your dumb aegyo has nothing to do with our heist”
“fine,,, i’ll bake y/n a cake instead”
woojin just sighs
jihoon has actually gotten quite close with you recently
daehwi and jinyoung readily accepted him and woojin in your little squad and you guys would frequent jisung’s cafe after school iaubfisbfvis thATS ACTUALLY SO CUTE IM CRYING
jihoon’s favorite pastime was still teasing you though
like
you did worse that jihoon on that chemistry quiz?
you’re never gonna hear the end of it
you fell face first into mud?
jihoon still has video he recorded to this day
the five of you were really close and y’all thought you knew everything about each other
hahaha
nope
you still had no idea that woojin and jihoon were PS
ffs y/n
the people you’re basically obsessed with are right in front of you
actually, jihoon’s just as obsessed with you tbh
daehwi, jinyoung and woojin has caught him staring at you on multiple occasions
“uH,,,, I WAS,,,, STARING AT THE WINDOW NEXT TO Y/N HAHAH YEAH”
he likes you
all the teasing basically lead to this
it’s not that jihoon hasn’t realized
he knows
but he ain’t about to admit that
a thief liking a detective??? psssh how absurd
but in jihoon’s eyes, all you ever cared about was PS
was he jealous of himself? yes
you,,, kinda,,, sorta felt things towards jihoon as well
but you ain’t about to admit that either
likE WHENEVER HE DID THAT STUPID JEOJANG THING YOU WOULD RUN AWAY AND NOBODY KNOWS WHETHER IT’S OUT OF CRINGE OR YOU’RE JUST MELTING
so you two just stay in a relationship full of teasing
the whole school lowkey thinks you’re together tho
one night, you were standing in front of another “priceless” art
courtesy of jihoon’s card earlier in the day
“i’ll be taking the min’s painting tonight hehe~~<3 -PS”
oh how the cards have changed over time
remember when i said that everyone thinks that PS is one person
well, everyone included you up til tonight
you were just strolling around the painting by yourself
the cops were situated around the building
complete with two standing in front of the door to the room with the painting
the plan was for you to stay in front of the painting all night and if PS came, you would tackle that bitch and call for backup
then PS actually came and all hell broke loose
the cops were running around trying to catch him, forgetting what the initial plan was
but for some dumb reason, they forgot to notify you
resulting in you having no idea what was happening outside the room lol
until finally, some cop remembered notified you via handheld radio
“whAT THE FUCK DANIEL YOU NOTIFY ME NOW???”
“LOOK IM SORRY,,,, BUT PS IS STILL RUNNING AROUND THE HOUSE AND YOU NEED TO COME”
swearing under your breath, you decide to just sit and wait for PS to come into the room you were currently in
why run around if he was after the painting that you were right in front of
he’d have to come sooner or later
you then saw a shadow outside the window
white suite, white gloves and that familiar badge on his chest
no mistake, it had to be PS
and you rush to hide behind a corner
PS makes his way in and stands in front of the painting, seemingly admiring it
“it’s quite beautiful, such a shame that it was stolen”
iT WAS STOLEN????
THIS WAS THE NTH TIME YOU’VE GUARDED SOMETHING LIKE THIS
nonetheless, you act according to plan and lunge for him
but in a swift motion, he clutches the painting and avoids you
“whoops, watch your step” he says, chuckling
you let out a noise that resembled a growl at him and lunge yet again
but he was already out the door
you ran after him
picking up your handheld radio, you were about to call for backup when suddenly you meet with another person dressed in a white suit
but he didn’t have a painting in his hands
you stopped running, trying to figure out a sensible reason
the figure brushed past you and jumped out a window
then you receive exasperated message from cop! daniel stating that PS has gotten his hands on the painting and is now running away
not forgetting to question your whereabouts
you were now confused
you were 100% sure you saw PS run out with the painting
but then you ran into him without the painting the same time as daniel saw him with the painting
the thief got away that night but you called up your dad and told him that the painting was a fake
your dad whooshed over in record time
after doing his research your dad had found out that the painting had originally belonged to a woman in her 60s
the person you had met tonight before the case was a man in his 40s
your dad arrested him on the spot
you hardly slept that night
wondering about if PS was just one person, how could he be at two places in the same time
you concluded that PS was two people
spoiler, woojin was the distraction and jihoon was the person you saw take the painting
you tried to convince your coworkers the next day but they wouldn’t believe you
in fact, they had gotten more suspicious of you
you were the only person who wasn’t there during the chase
YOU WORK WITH A BUNCH OF IDIOTS
frustrated, you complained to jinyoung (who i forgot to mention, was a cop in training oops)
jinyoung believed you
he knew how hard you worked just to find out who this guy was
but he couldn’t do much to help
so he just comforted you
you were thankful for him (I’M SO SOFT IDBFUVIS)
with no one able to help you out, you decided to take matters inyour own hands
you were drained the next school day
jihoon felt bad for making you chase after him to no avail
so he did aegyo for you
it worked
sorta
woojin and jinyoung ended up dragging him out of class because of the second hand embarrassment though
daehwi just,,,,
cringed
really hard
you received another card three weeks later
“i’ll be after the “gem of the sea” necklace tonight. sorry for making you run all the time :c -PS”
???? is this thief apologizing???
anyways, this time, you were ready to find out who he was
it was a fool-proof plan
you see, you were familiar with this museum and knew it like the back of your hand
you were already starting to feel sad about ending the three year chase
that night, you were situated in front of the necklace
with a dozen cops because they didn’t trust you lmao
the necklace was a beautiful royal blue and you could understand why people loved it
it shone even in the moonlight
when the clock hit ten, all lights were cut off in the room and turned back on in a matter of seconds
but the necklace was gone in the mere seconds the light turned off
cops started to stream out the door of the display room, running everywhere trying to catch the thief
you were about to do the same
but daniel stopped you
“nuh uh kiddo, let me check your pockets first”
“ kang danIEL ARE YOU SUSPECTING THAT I TOOK IT?”
“yes”
so you were held back for a minute
you didn’t even give daniel time to apologize for suspecting you before you were out the door
cop! seongwoo announced that he saw PS in the left wing
but you head towards the right wing, knowing that there were two of them and the one seongwoo saw was likely a distraction
your suspicions were confirmed when you catch a glimpse of white
it was jihoon with the necklace
he was casually strolling towards the storage room where he would make his escape
jihoon had no idea you were after his ass
but as soon as he neared the window of the storage room, you appeared in the doorway
huffing because wow that was the quickest you had ever been
jihoon turned to you, the full moon shining through the full-length window behind him
it was a breathtaking sight
buT YOU COULDN’T SEE HIS FACE DAMMIT
“oh, it seems as though i’m cornered”
“yOU,,,,, DON’T PLAY WITH ME,,,, WHO ARE YOU”
“PS, obviously”
SCREAMS INTERNALLY
“NO SHIT”
he chuckled, pulling the necklace out of his pocket
“after this? it’s quite pretty isn’t it? almost as pretty as you are”
holy shit
is this thief
f l i r t i n g with you????
you blushed
but blamed it on the exercise lmao
“dON’T CHANGE THE SUBJECT-”
“it’s a shame that i can’t just steal you away”
PARK JIHOON YOU SMOOTH FUCKER
HE SAYS THIS NOW AS PS BECAUSE HE HASN’T GOT THE GUTS TO SAY IT NORMALLY AS PARK JIHOON
but jihoon then notices that he’s taking way too long and woojin would beat his ass if he took longer
looking down, he finds a couple of cops below, waiting to see of anyone tries make an escape
jihoon sighs, opting to escape another way
aka jumping across trees until he reaches jisungs mini van lmao
so as you jump for nth time at time
he brushes past you whispering in that deep ass voice,
“i’ll save you in my heart instead”
leaving you shook af
“why did that remind me of that stupid jeojang thing jihoon does?”
WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS
you think you have a little crush on PS (with his low pitch voice lmao)
but your heart also goes crazy around park jihoon (and his high pitched voice obvfisbv)
you’re just like,
“fuck”
“do i really like two guys at once”
it’s one dude
but you didn’t need to know that
this was long and kinda crappy but here’s my first au!! sorry there wasn’t much jihoon here aaaa
please give me some feedback on how it was,,,, 2.7k words is a lo t, should i try make my next one shorter?
please ignore any mistakes haha,,,, i’m really tired and don’t wanna proof read fsovbuiqoebvo

Another chapter yay! I wrote so much for this fic during NaNoWriMo, I’m glad to start posting =D
Fic Summary:
Conan was sitting on the Agency roof, staring out across the empty street. The chaos in his mind was so distracting he almost didn’t hear the quiet question spoken behind him.
“Why are you up here, Tantei-kun?” He recognized Kid’s voice, but wasn’t sure he wanted to answer.
(Here’s a link to Chapter 1, mind the tags before you start reading!)

Openings 41-45 Appreciation Post
Another 5 openings are ready for a rewatch! Let’s go!
Opening 41: "Nazo"
Favorite screencap:
A friendly reminder that this is a mystery show!
Comments:
Wait a minute.
Those bricks around the edges of the windows don’t line up.
Wait, so previously a culprit was the one busting out the window. Has Conan been the criminal mastermind all along?
Gin: “Hardcore parkour, kid.”
Conan: “Goddamnit. Why’d I jump from the window? Now I gotta chase them.”
Ran teaching the Karate Club! :D And there’s Kazumi.
Shin’ichi, you will have absolutely no reason to complain about Ran being late. You’re about to be late for absolutely EVERYTHING when you become 2 feet tall.
Ran: “And then I said...”
Ran: “Huh?”
Genta: “Out of my way! Comin’ through! Unaju~!”
Mitsuhiko: “Please excuse our friend!”
Shin’ichi: “Whatever kid. Besides, lemon pie is waaaay better than unaju!”
Shiho: “Dat ass.”
Gah. Feels.
And callbacks to animation from opening 3, the original version of “Nazo”.
Opening 42: "Hane"
Favorite screencap:
Conan: “My domain is everything the light touches...”
Comments:
Conan: “Wait.”
Conan: “Where did this tower come from?”
Oh, I guess it was the tower of angst.
Conan: “Welp, time to go!”
Conan: “Smooth. Dunno how I didn’t break my legs though.”
Ran: “Yup. Damsel in distress. Again.”
Conan: “I’m onto you, TREE.”
Opening 43: "Sekai wa Anata no Iro ni Naru"
Favorite screencap:
Mortal Kombat!
Comments:
I wanna visit London someday. :/
Conan: “Oh great. The stained glass in the opening for movie 5 has come back to attack me.”
Gin, dunno if I’d look that direction. You might actually lose your eye this time. You know how good Akai is at sniping. :D;;
And these two are at it again. =w=;
Haibara: “Quick! We need some badassery!”
YES! That’s my girl!!!
It’s time for everyone’s favorite sport, explosion skydiving!
Ooo, cool shot!
Oh gosh. I wonder if there will be an epic showdown between the police, Black Organization, and FBI at some point? That’d be insane.
Aww, what a cute family portrait.
I do believe it is time to kick ass.
THE ROAD. AKAI. DRIVE ON THE ROAD!
Yay! Go Kogoro!
Heiji: “You know you’re not supposed to take that ‘I’ll kill you’ line seriously, right, Kazuha? I can’t breathe.”

Comments:
Ran: “Shin’ichi! Stop looking up at the sky while its snowing! You’ll get snowflakes up your nose! Also, MY LEGS ARE FREEZING!”
...Yes, because when I think about a show called “Detective Conan”, I totally think an action heavy shonen type show.
Oh lord, it’s back.
Aaaaand now it’s dead.
Gin: “PEEK-A-BOO.”
Conan: “I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS.”
Vodka: “HEH.”
Conan: “I REALLY DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!”
Conan: “Hunh? I’m the damsel in distress this time??”
Conan: “Hunh. I guess this is okay.”
And we cut from a shot of Ran to...
...sad Cone is sad standing in snow in shorts.
Conan: *-horribly offkey-* “The snow gloOows whiiite on the moun-tain tonight~”
We’ve achieved enlightenment?
Opening 45: "Lie, Lie, Lie,"
Favorite screencap:
Monet called. He wants his painting style back.
Comments:
The 90s called, they want their “special effects” back. How about some new animation instead?
There we go. Also, thought we were done with impressionism after our foray into Van Gogh in Movie 19? Guess again!
Typical angsty time.
Reference to Memories of Sakura Class.
Reference to Company President’s Daughter Kidnapping Case.
Reference to Holmes’ Revelation (0 is Start).
References to The Desperate Revival ~The Promised Place~.
Judging from Shin’ichi clothes, probably a reference to The Sealed Chamber in the Sky: Shin’ichi Kudo’s First Case.
Haibara: “No pictures, please.”
Shiho: “Ah yes, normalcy. But still. No pictures.”
Ahh, feels. (Also references to The Black Organization: One Billion Yen Robbery Case and The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case.)
Oh hi there, references to a case we haven’t had animated yet.
DB: “Can we go camping again!?”
Agasa: “Uh, sure!”
Conan: “Greeeeaaat. Who’s gonna die this time?”
Haibara: “Someone doesn’t die everytime we go camping you know.”
Conan: “Right. Sometimes they’re just kidnapped.”
Great group shots!
Can cut the tension with a knife. Sheesh.
Conan: “Seriously! How do they keep their hair so gorgeous!?”
Gin: “L’oreal, brat.”

Regarding the Kaminari Traitor Theory
So I just recently joined the BNHA fandom. (Thanks to mainly to Todoroki ;), but not only him, the plot and character developments are just too awesome??) So anyways I’m in it now. I stumbled upon some theories regarding the series, one of them being the Kaminari traitor theory. And whoa! It’s actually pretty popular. It caught my attention, not because I support it but because I have several concerns for it. I just can’t see him as a traitor. I also find some of the ‘evidences’ to be pretty unconvincing.
Actually, I’m not really a fan of Kaminari, but I do kinda like him. You know, he’s like the cute nice guy in the class. If he’s a character in another anime probably I would like him more as a character (cause my favorite characters in other animes are usually similar type to him lol). But in BNHA, there are Deku, Todoroki, Bakugou.. And yup, he couldn’t make it to my top 3. I don’t think I’m biased or anything. But I shall emphasize to you that this is just my opinion, if you agree with me then yay, but if you don’t then I don’t mind.
Ok. Enough with the intro. Now I shall present you all my counter-arguments regarding the 'evidences’ of Kaminari traitor theory! (Sorry if what I’m saying is kindof obvious, but I’m just trying to give another perspective and convince you all otherwise :))
Minor spoiler alert!? To be very very safe, make sure you’ve read until the Hero License arc.
Evidence 1 - His comments on Stain
One of the arguments is that Kaminari thought of Stain the Hero Killer as kinda cool. He said this during a classroom open conversation, near the end of the Stain arc. People say that maybe, he could think of him as cool because he is actually a villain, or if he’s an admirer of Stain.
Stain is depicted as a character who is hot-blooded, or charismatic, which is why the villains are also making use of him to bring in people to their side. Horikoshi is probably just using Kaminari in order to emphasize the point that Stain is having a lot of impact on the media, to the point that a UA student could regard him as ‘cool’, because Kaminari does seem like the type of character who can easily blurt out his thoughts.
Evidence 2 - His initial character design
The next claim is regarding Kaminari’s initial character design. The design is drawn to be villainous-like. This could mean that maybe Horikoshi intended Kaminari to be a villain, but changed his mind to make him a traitor instead by changing is design to look more friendly, so that he could infiltrate UA more easily.
Horikoshi stated there that the sketch is “back before he was “Kaminari” and he was just some guy with an electricity quirk”. Actually, this might just mean that it’s initially just a random character idea. When creating characters for BNHA, Horikoshi obviously need to let his imagination run free to create ideas for designs along with the quirks, especially because this is a hero genre. So the quote may just mean that it’s just initially a nameless character concept with an electricity quirk, until he decided to make it Kaminari the UA student, instead of before Horikoshi decided for him to be an infiltrator.
Evidence 3 - His expression on this official art
Another one is about his half and half expression on this official art. The right side of his face is his normal face, while the left side is evil looking. People think that this might hint his double personality, that he’s a traitor. If his whole expression is like the left side, then it would look like this:
Hmm.. very creepy and traitor like, eh?
But actually, it can just be that he’s just drawn to seem tired, or wanting to laugh. And as you can see, he is in the middle of Yaoyorozu and Jirou. I just can’t imagine that he would make a ‘half evil face’ for no reason while sitting in the middle of those two. If Horikoshi really wanted to hint that he is a traitor, he would have done it more properly, as in for example, maybe in a picture where he’s alone.
Evidence 4 - His absence on the night before the villain invasion
So here is a picture on the night before the villain invasion. It is seen that there is a person who is missing, on the top right. One of the those who are missing in this panel is Kaminari. Maybe, he is actually outside, signaling the villain their location, because he is literally a walking GPS.
I wasn’t really aware of this evidence at first, but then I watched a video by Joy_Boy Theories from YouTube (damn, I love his theories), on his argument against this evidence. You can watch his video here. To conclude his point, basically BNHA has light novel, and one of its chapters covers the time during this panel. The light novel justified that the guy whose head is buried under the pillows on the middle bottom is Kaminari, and the guy who left his bed was Iida. I’d also like to add that this panel shows a very limited scenery of the room and therefore cannot be a really good evidence to show who’s not in the room.
Evidence 5 - He is sometimes out of character
Kaminari is sometimes shown to be ‘out of character’ because he is supposed to be stupid (I hate to use the word ‘stupid’ because it really feels like I’m disdaining him while I actually think quite highly of him?), but sometimes shown to have some degree of intelligence and even interest in literature.
I’m not very familiar with this, I’ll be honest. Hence, I can’t say much about it. Though, I just want to say that, isn’t it okay for a not-so-bright character to be shown knowledgeable sometimes? If a character is ‘stupid’, it does not mean that he doesn’t know anything about the world. Kaminari may be weak in terms of studies, but it does not mean that he cannot know and understand other things too.
Evidence 6 - His room
Ok. So this is probably the strongest possible evidence I came across to. Though, it might also be because the english fan translation is not as accurate. Because while in here it says “seems like he just threw in whatever he managed to get his hands on”, another version I read is that “it feels like such a random jumble”, and he responded with “What? You don’t like it?”. I’m not very sure which one is the most accurate, but at least we can get the general idea from these translations. Basically, people say that Kaminari’s potentially not true to his character, as he might actually be clueless on the tastes of a teenage male and tried to cover up for it by putting random stuffs.
In actuality, this can just highlight Kaminari’s untidiness and sloppiness, his character. Because he has been portrayed as a character who is perky, clumsy and not-so-bright. Him having a room like this would make more sense compared to him having a really neat and minimalistic room.
Speculation 1 - Maybe his stupidity after using his quirk is faked
This is not an evidence, but people are speculating that maybe Kaminari’s stupidity after he reaches his quirk’s wattage limit might be faked. Maybe, this is in order so that he can get away by not helping the others, and only using his true ability to an extent depending on the situation. If this is true, then this could be a support to the Kaminari’s traitor theory.
Yet, from this manga excerpt, we can see that the explanation regarding Kaminari’s quirk is not self proclaimed, but explained by Horikoshi himself. Even though he did not specify exactly how much is his wattage limit, which gives room for speculation, it is still unlikely that Kaminari’s faking his derpiness. As of now, I can’t think of a really really good reason on why he should fake his stupidity if he’s actually a traitor.
To sum it up
Really, I can’t think of Kaminari as a traitor, at least for now. Just look at him, he’s a really nice and cheery guy! (which is maybe why some people think that he would be the perfect traitor lol)
What really convinced me that he’s a good guy is this:
In this part, we can clearly see that he’s fighting earnestly for his friends. This part in the Hero License arc showcases clearly how much he cared for them and his character development. I really can’t imagine him being the traitor after reading this part.
Another thing is that I think that if Kaminari really is the traitor, it would ruin his character, and maybe the plot, because there’s quite some buildup of his character already. I consider a good mystery to be something which is unpredictable because it’s not very obvious or very unexpected. Like, a good example is Detective Conan, its major mysteries (as in not the murder cases, but regarding the characters) are carried out really well.
It’s usually something/someone that you wouldn’t expect, because it’s not the most obvious one, and not the least likely one which made it suspicious. It’s often the one in the ‘middle’.
So in this BNHA traitor case, someone who really doesn’t stand out. That is why I have no qualms about the Hagakure traitor theory. She is a character who doesn’t stand out much, and it wouldn’t be too much of a letdown if she’s the traitor.
Being kind of late to the BNHA hype and fandom, I’m really surprised how we all are really intense in these kind of speculations and theories. I can understand if it’s mainly a mystery genre like Detective Conan, but whoa, this much for a superhero action genre. Are we all reading a bit too much into things? But we might as well XD, it’s fun indeed.
Hope you guys enjoyed reading it! And I hope I could give you another perspective regarding the Kaminari traitor theory. I’ll repeat once more that this is just my opinion, it’s up to you guys whether you agree or not. I’m not asking for you all to agree with me. You guys have your own freedom, but I have mine too :D Anyways, thanks so much for sticking with me until the end of this post.
Note: Kudos to the GIF creators whose GIFs I used for this post. You guys are awesome ^_^

Can I get a jealous Izuku izuocha fanfic? 030 (that's bad wording lol)
Note: Wow, 3 fics in 3 days HAHA, I’m in love with writing these so thanks for the ask and also for being so supportive! Yay, Eri and Kaibara Sen (Class B guy) play a role in this story. The wiki had no info on Kaibara’s quirk; it just mentions that he does some swirling thing. Also was inspired by a scene from Heiji x Kazuha from Conan. Happy Reading!
In which Midoriya goes undercover
“Just check out the bridge, Midoriya,” Todoroki uttered intothe phone, “Iida and I will split up and check out the stations.”
“Got it,” the green haired boy replied as he stepped to theside a bit, eyes lingering on the next location, “I’m a few steps away so I’llsee if there’s anything. I’ll give you a call if he turns up.”
“Thanks. Be careful out there.”
Beep.
Midoriya hung up without looking and stuffed his phone intohis back pocket. If experience had taught him anything (other than not tounderestimate your enemy), Midoriya knew that it’s always best to wear adisguise before heading to a drug deal.
Todoroki, Iida and Midoriya were assigned by their agenciesto check out various locations where an infamous yakuza gang were doing theirdrug exchange. It had been a few years since he, Mirio and the otherssuccessfully rescued Eri and despite having minor panic attacks once in awhile, Eri had decided to work for Midoriya in order to contribute herknowledge on gang raids and their functions. It lifted Midoriya’s spirits tothink how impressive it was for Eri to have grown this much since the incident.
Pulling down his baseball cap and zipping up his navy bluewindbreaker, Midoriya slogged through the busy, wet streets of Kamino andstopped at the west side of the bridge. According to Eri, yakuza members wouldusually send a young guy whose appearance isn’t anything conspicuous to do thetrade. Optimal time should be around 6 o’clock where everyone’s rushing backhome from work too. Midoriya lifted his arm to glance at his bulky sportswatch. 5:30 p.m, it read, meaning anything could happen within the next hour.
Hopefully Eri’s right and they didn’t miss it.
As he watched one of the ducks swim across the river belowwhere he stood, he rested his arms on the railings and held his chin in hishand. Such trifling scenery was to be admired often. Particularly for heroeswhose lives and reputation were always at stake. Midoriya knew his career wasnot all glorious even for an optimistic guy like him, and finding work-life balancewas challenging.
At the corner of his eye, a slender girl wearing a brightorange off-the-shoulder dress appeared within his range of view and he turned hishead slightly, still resting on his palm. He looked at the girl, round-eyed.
It was Uraraka, and she wasn’t alone.
“Kaibara-kun,” Uraraka said, standing too close to the boyin front of her in Midoriya’s opinion, “How’ve you been?”
Kaibara was a dark-haired boy from Class B, Midoriyaremembered, and the way he portrayed himself to Uraraka made his head steam.Since both of them had a busy schedule, Midoriya and Uraraka had been hangingout with one another only on the rare occasion that their old classmates would meet up.It’s unfortunate, but being the best of the best was everyone’s priority so noone had the courage or the time to focus on their love lives. Midoriya groanedto himself, his eyes peeled at the pair a few meters away from him. Should he say hi? Midoriya pondered butfought against it. He had a mission. This was not the time to be doing anythingother than his duty as a hero.
However, it was quite odd as to why Uraraka hasn’t noticedhim at all. Given their somewhat close proximity, he would have expected her toat least do a wave. The green-haired boy shook his head from side to side, attemptingto clear his mind completely but failed.
And so he continuedto observe from afar.
“I bought the tickets,” Kaibara spoke as he stuck his handsin his jacket, “see?” He pulled out two pieces of wrinkled paper and Midoriyaassumed they were the tickets, “Beauty and the Beast, you said you wanted towatch it.”
Uraraka’s face brightened, “yeah! I can’t believe you remembered!”She had the voice of an angel and the face of a princess, but Midoriya wishedit was directed at him instead. The boy’s fists clenched watching those two andhe cursed under his breath. Why would they need to watch the movie when Kaibaracould easily be the beast?!
Midoriya grunted. Kaibara’s presence was cringe-worthy, andhis ass was clearly asking for a beating. Suddenly, to his right, a man holdinga bouquet of roses stopped right between Midoriya and the pair, distracting theone-for-all hero from his pensive gaze. The green-haired boy turned around andtook a few steps back, eyes still locked onto Uraraka and felt a vibration.
“Hello?” Midoriya picked up his phone and began to talksoftly, “It’s cool over here. How about you guys?”
Todoroki’s voice was stern, “Nothing over here, Eri messagedand said it’s most likely gonna be at the bridge. Keep your eyes opened.”
“Ah alrig—“ Midoriya froze without warning and stared withhis mouth wide open. Was Kaibara holdingonto Uraraka’s waist? And she seems to be totally fine with it? Impedinghimself from yelling right then, he noticed the two were positioned like peasin a pod. He exhaled to keep composed.
It’s fine. They’refriends, he tried to convince himself, yet he couldn’t drag his focus away. Patience is virtue. Patience is —
“Wait a minute, Todoroki.”
Without letting go ofthe phone, his arms swung fervently back and forth as he pushed a stranger, whowas receiving the bouquet from the previous man, away. He stomped right throughthat couple and pulled heavily on Kaibara’s jacket, receiving a stupefied lookfrom the latter.
The next sounds that came from Midoriya’s side of the phoneto Todoroki’s was a cry of anguish.
“Midoriya, what’shappening?“ Todoroki inquired as he felt himself sweating from the disturbance. Was Midoriya engaging the yakuza now?
“Whatare you doing to my Uraraka?!” Midoriya yelled as bystanders formed asemi-circle to watch, pointing and whispering.
Uraraka innately grasped onto Midoriya’s arm, causing theboy to drop his phone, “Deku-kun, what are you doing? Let go of Kaibara-kunnow!”
“Midoriya, could you still hear me? I’m heading over rightnow!” Todoroki was still yelling into the phone and Uraraka’s eyebrows lookedas if they were knitted together in annoyance.
With a quick push, Kaibara pried himself out of Midoriya’sfierce restraint, the former taking the heated accusation in stride. There wassomething else Kaibara seemed to be focused on at the moment and as quick as abullet, Kaibara turned to face the other way.
Midoriya darted his eyes towards the same direction andrealized that the couple that were beside them were now running off. The crowdseemed to be in a panic as the bridge began to rumble all of a sudden. Crap,Midoriya muttered to himself, so it wasthem all along!
“Uraraka,” Kaibara cried out, readying his quirk, “stand infront of me, without my quirk we can’t catch up to them!”
Uraraka nodded quickly, pulling Midoriya behind her in oneswift movement as the concrete bridge swayed back at forth. Must be the villain’s powers. Midoriyaknew he compromised their mission, and his heart paced, feeling as though avoid had swallowed him whole.
Kaibara motioned hisfingers with ease and let out a small puff of air from his mouth. Withinseconds, the puff of air became a torrent and a giant tornado shot out, liftingUraraka forward in a blink of an eye. Uraraka elongated her arms, timingperfectly as she reached the villains and their shocked faces were the lastthing she saw as both of them started to levitate into the air. Writhing theirarms and legs, the villain’s bouquet slipped out of their grasp and soon, whatassumed to be bags of quirk enhancing drugs floated out of the tissue wrappingof the roses. The gravity heroine detained them with handcuffs and within minutes a teamof policemen came.
Uraraka huffed and wiped a sweat off her forehead as Kaibaraand Midoriya ran towards her.
“Excellent job!” Kaibara lifted his palm up and they did ahigh-five in victory. Midoriya’s gaze fixated on her in disappointment.
“I’m so sorry,” Midoriya let out and Uraraka stifled agiggle.
“I can’t believe you thought we were dating! I’ve never seenyou so…irrational before!” Uraraka playfully punched Midoriya and Kaibara beganto laugh as well.
“I’d suggest you don’t let your boss find out that yourcover got blown because of jealousy though,” Kaibara said, looking at theembarrassed expression on Midoriya’s face.
Uraraka sighed, “Our agency was also on this case, so Kaibara-kun and I were undercover. But we weren’t allowed to tell you Deku-kun.” She scratched her cheek gingerly and ablush appeared on her face, “What was it that you said again? Something aboutme being yours?”
Kaibara smirked and walked away from the two, allowing themprivacy.
“I didn’t say that!” Midoriya denied. Abruptly, the eeriesound of his own voice appeared behind him. Turning on his heel, Todoroki stoodthere, one hand on a button of his phone and the other ensconced in his frontpocket.
“What are you doing to my Uraraka—what are you doing tomy—what are you—“ Todoroki kept pressing ‘rewind’ and ‘play’ one after theother on his phone, and thwarted his phone away from getting seized by aperturbed Midoriya as the green-haired boy headed to him.
Todoroki had an uncanny knack for irritating others withouttwitching a muscle.
Hearing the awkward replay of Midoriya’s inadvertentconfession, Uraraka greeted Todoroki with a wave of her hand. Her actions wereflustered, and she began to occupy herself with the police team.
“Ugh, you’re ruthless,” Midoriya groaned, “tell me you’lldelete that from your phone.”
“Nope,” Todoroki said, uncaring, “I want to show Iida. Andprobably Yaoyorozu too. And your mom.”
“….Todoroki, you better not…”
Uraraka shifted her eyes over to the two boys as thepolicemen drove away and her lips tugged upwards toward Midoriya, who wouldalways be displaying his protective side for her sake.
She’s going to confronthim about today for sure. But right now, she needed to concentrate on the responsibilitiesthat await behind the closed doors of her office.

Remember when I used to translate the SMT4A mythology topics a long time ago in a galaxy far far away? Well, I decided finishing them is actually a really good idea, especially since I’ll be able to focus on other things as well. So, here we are (in case anyone’s interested anymore).
TWELFTH TOPIC - NAPAEA AND FAIRY TALES
Previous topic (eleventh) - The Birth of Humans and the Birth of Gods
More translations here. I’ve also got a ko-fi account, so if you woke up feeling like getting someone some coffee, that someone should totally be me. (I like it black) Ko-fi.com/dijehehe
The spirits of the deceased of Greek legends
Napaeae are a type of nymph;
There are many types of nymphs (valley, mountain, river), the former thought to be the spirits of the deceased;
The name Napaeae doesn’t appear in legends much, so we don’t really know anything about them;
Mountain spirits = Oreads, water spirits = Naiads, Napaeae are said to be their equivalent;
Euridice was a water or tree nymph from Thrace, so she might have been a Napaea;
The story of Orpheus and Euridice is similar to that of Izanagi and Izanami (x);
When Orpheus loses Euridice for good, she turns into a spirit of fog;
Nymphs were also venerated by humans, regardless of their affinities (water, valleys, mountains);
Another category were sea nymphs, the Nereids, the fifty daughters of Nereus, among them Achilles’s mother, Thetis, and Poseidon’s wife, Amphitrite;
Napaeae are thought to be related to Aphaea, the guardian goddess of the island Aegina, venerated during the times of the Minoan civilisation which preceeded the Greek one;
Aphaea was also called Britomartis, a mountain goddess, which was eventually conflated with the Greek goddess of hunting, Artemis, and is believed to have become an oread, a mountain nymph;
Nymphs were very beautiful and attractive and became the wives of both gods and humans; they had a lower standing than goddesses though, so we can place them between humans and gods;
From the knights of the Middle Ages to the art of the Renaissance
The belief in natural phenomena or things inhabited by gods or spirits of the dead can also be found in many European cultures, Celtic or Germanic for example, said to have been based on the nature worship of the Paleolithic, where these spirits became existences situated between gods and humans;
Two such spirits/fairies are Cu Chulainn and Fionn mac Cumhaill, heroes of Celtic legends from Ireland; they were the son of the sun god Lugh and the grandson of Nuada and thus demigods; they are believed to have been real kings whose lives were dramatised, even resembling Herakles of Greek legend a little;
As Christianity spread in Europe, old legends were modified to accomodate it, and it is believed the tales of heroes like Cu Chulainn morphed into the medieval knight tales;
The most famous is that of King Arthur, the promised king who wields the magic sword Excalibur, given to him by the fairy of the lake, Viviane, who is either the protector or the adopted mother of Lancelot; another knight of the Round Table, Pelleas, marries Nimue, another lake fairy;
The influence of the Greek nymphs can also be seen in the character of Morgan le Fay, Arthur’s older sister, whose name basically means `Morgan the Fairy`and who is sometimes conflated with Morrigan, a triple goddess who fell in love with Cu Chulainn;
The fairies who survived under `disguise` during the propagation of Christianity in the Middle Ages made a full comeback during Renaissance while the Reformation was taking place; Roman and Greek influences could be found in painting, sculpture, theatrical plays and other arts;
Another great role in the return of fairies in art was played by William Shakespeare, the representative playwright of Renaissance England (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest);
Shakespeare was influenced by Plutarch’s Lives and Ovid’s Metamorphoses, his fairies being obviously inspired by the nymphs of Greek legends;
There were also many people who believed in the existence of fairies, one of them being Arthur Conan Doyle, who concluded that fairy photography was real and published writings accompanied by photos of the famous Cottingley Fairies (1916), later proven to have been fake;
Fairies outside Europe
Japan had a similar nature worship culture, with the kamui of the Ainu (most turned into youkai) or the Eight Million Gods being existences placed between humans and gods, or better said, between humans and demons, due to their mischevious nature;
Celestial maidens (tennyo 天女) can be said to be close to nymphs, having descended on earth, getting their raiments stolen while bathing, therefore being unable to return to the heavens and marrying humans;
We can also look at the roots of the celestial maidens, like the Chinese spirits (sennyo 仙女), or the buddhist celestial beings (hiten 飛天), the Hindu Apsara, the Islamic Houri or even the well-known angels;
The Old Testament also mentions quite a large number of angels who fell in love and stayed with human women, probably leading to the existence of Incubi, which can be called another type of fairies;
There’s a Japanese saying ma ga sashita 魔がさした (’the devil made me do it’), where 魔 (ma) can mean both demon and an evil spirit, thus another type of mischevious fairy.
* you will notice that the name of Thetis’s husband, Peleus, sound remarkably similar to that of Pelleas, the knight of the Round Table, both ending up married to water fairies/nymphs (here’s some more info);
*speaking of water fairies, Viviane and Nimue are pretty much the same person, the Lady of the Lake, who became two characters at some point in time;
*kanji, yay! Tennyo literally means women 女 of heaven 天; sennyo are hermit 仙 women 女 (you’ve probably heard of sennin 仙人 (hermit person), the immortal sages of Daoism); hiten are flying 飛 divine beings 天 (this kanji can also be used for the deva of Buddhism) --> here’s a great article about all these celestial beings and then some!
*the theme of fairies/nymphs/goddesses having their clothes stolen (by mortals mostly) and subsequently losing their powers is an awfully common one. Here are several stories based on the Swan maiden theme, including the Japanese Hagoromo.

Building my own rasteriser: part 8 - pixels! on! the! screen!
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5] [part 6] [part 7]
The first thing to do seems to be to write a function that is basically akin to an OpenGL fragment shader, taking a single pixel’s coordinates, testing whether they’re overlapping a triangle, if they’re not covered by an earlier triangle, and then drawing them to the screen.
The fastest access operator for CImg does no bounds checking. That’s fine, we can 'just' add some code to clamp the bounding box to the image boundary (it took several hours to debug an order-of-operations related problem but whatevs):
void bounding_box(uvec2& top_left, uvec2& bottom_right, const vec3& vert0, const vec3& vert1, const vec3& vert2, unsigned int image_width, unsigned int image_height) { top_left.x = (unsigned int)glm::clamp(std::min({vert0.x,vert1.x,vert2.x}),0.f,image_width - 1.f); top_left.y = (unsigned int)glm::clamp(std::min({vert0.y,vert1.y,vert2.y}),0.f,image_height - 1.f); bottom_right.x = (unsigned int)glm::clamp(std::max({vert0.x,vert1.x,vert2.x}),0.f,image_width - 1.f); bottom_right.y = (unsigned int)glm::clamp(std::max({vert0.y,vert1.y,vert2.y}),0.f,image_height - 1.f); }
But actually GLM has its own max and min functions that work with vector types if you import the header <glm/gtx/extented_min_max.hpp> header (nb that's how it's spelled, no typo), so we can make this a little bit simpler:
void bounding_box(uvec2& top_left, uvec2& bottom_right, const vec3& vert0, const vec3& vert1, const vec3& vert2, unsigned int image_width, unsigned int image_height) { vec2 image_bottom_right(image_width - 1, image_height -1); top_left = (uvec2)glm::clamp( glm::min(xy(vert0),xy(vert1),xy(vert2)), vec2(0.f),image_bottom_right); bottom_right = (uvec2)glm::clamp( glm::ceil(glm::max(xy(vert0),xy(vert1),xy(vert2))), vec2(0.f),image_bottom_right); }
Maybe this could stand to be optimised some, but it probably won't be the major bottleneck so let's not worry.
I wasn't sure if GLM had a function to test whether all the values in a vector were greater than a constant (in this case 0), and unfortunately the GLM website went down yesterday so I can't check the documentation, and it's not available on archive.org. Lacking GLM docs seems likely to be a problem again, so I decided to install Doxygen and build my own version of the docs. This meant installing doxygen (a Windows binary was available), cloning GLM from its git repository (the Conan version doesn't have a doxygen file), switching to the 'docs' directory, and running 'doxygen man.doxy'. Now I have a local copy of the GLM docs, yay.
With that in mind, I was able to find that there are vector comparison operators in GLM, so after that lengthy excursion I can write slightly simpler code. (My code is a mess so it's not really helping much lol).
So here's a function to test a pixel and apply the z-buffer algorithm.
void update_pixel(unsigned int raster_x, unsigned int raster_y, const vec3& vert0, const vec3& vert1, const vec3& vert2, CImg<unsigned char>& frame_buffer, CImg<float>& depth_buffer) { vec3 bary = barycentric(vec2(raster_x,raster_y),vert0,vert1,vert2); float depth = interpolate(vert0.z,vert1.z,vert2.z,bary); //Is this pixel inside the triangle? if (glm::all(glm::greaterThanEqual(bary,vec3(0.f)))) { //Is this pixel nearer than the current value in the depth buffer? if(depth < depth_buffer(raster_x,raster_y)) { depth_buffer(raster_x,raster_y) = depth; frame_buffer(raster_x,raster_y) = shade(bary/* some other vertex data*/); } } }
But what is our shade function going to be? The details of shading are a whole other tutorial. For now, let's just say we'll fill in the triangles with a single colour, and we'll write another shading function later. So shade() just returns 255.
Now we can finally write a program to shade a triangle! Hopefully.
void draw_triangle(const uvec3& face, const vector<vec3>& raster_vertices, CImg<unsigned char>* frame_buffer, CImg<float>* depth_buffer, unsigned int image_width, unsigned int image_height) { vec3 vert0 = raster_vertices[face.x]; vec3 vert1 = raster_vertices[face.y]; vec3 vert2 = raster_vertices[face.z]; uvec2 top_left; uvec2 bottom_right; bounding_box(top_left,bottom_right,vert0,vert1,vert2,image_width,image_height); cout << "Bounding box: (" << top_left.x << ", " << top_left.y << ") to (" << bottom_right.x << ", " << bottom_right.y << ")\n"; for(unsigned int raster_y = top_left.y; raster_y <= bottom_right.y; raster_y++) { for(unsigned int raster_x = top_left.x; raster_x <= bottom_right.x; raster_x++) { update_pixel(raster_x,raster_y, vert0,vert1,vert2, *frame_buffer,*depth_buffer); } } }
So I just need to instantiate my frame and depth buffers and call this for every triangle, probably. Of course, just as I go to get the docs for CImg, the website goes down. Thankfully, archive.org has archived the docs this time, and after a night's sleep, the site's back up anyway.
"Calling this for every triangle" proved rather harder than it sounded. I eventually figured out that using std::bind to partially apply draw_triangle, and then using it in a std::for_each loop, somehow broke its link with the depth and frame buffers so I was writing to some kind of copy of them instead, even though I was passing them by reference in the function definition. Maybe if I passed the buffers by pointer instead of by reference? Honestly I don't really understand how bind works...
Using a pointer turns out to work! And we finally get an output frame :D
aaaaaaa :D
aaaaaaaaa :D
OK, it doesn’t look like much, but I rendered that! That was me! My program! (...with a bunch of help from the GLM and CImg libraries but still).
I also tried to output the depth buffer, but saving a CImg of floats in the range [-1,1] as a PNG is a bit harder. Not hugely harder, though: there is a function to normalise the image in CImg.
Note that the values here are not strictly speaking the depth, but linearly related to the inverse depth. White is the maximum possible distance from the camera (the far clipping plane), and black is the closest point in the image (not necessarily as close as the near clipping plane, but no closer than that). So we have confirmation it really is generating a depth buffer!
That is incredibly satisfying, but I don’t feel like I’m done yet. There are some more things I’d like to do with this before I go to the world of OpenGL:
import an obj loader and set it to render files from disc
shade faces based on normals and lighting direction
interpolate texture coordinates
clean up the code and let it take input from the command line
animation

West Week Ever: Pop Culture In Review - 5/19/17 (Upfronts Edition)
Since this is my 4th annual network TV upfronts recap, we’re doing things a bit differently this week. So, sit back and hunker down, as this is gonna be a long one!
First up, I joined my buddy @ClassickMateria for the Classick Team-Up! Podcast last week, and the episode is now available to download. We chatted about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, recent TV news, and everything else under the sun. Definitely check it out here!
Things You Might Have Missed This Week
Avi Kaplan quit the Grammy Award-winning a cappella group Pentatonix, because he missed his friends and family. I dunno about you, but I think that money could replace them!
Katy Perry has signed on as the first judge on ABC’s American Idol reboot, while there are reports that Idol finalist Chris Daughtry is in talks to join the show
The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons married his longtime partner, Todd Spiewak
The Flash cast member Keiynan Lonsdale came out as bisexual in an Instagram post
Hamilton‘s Daveed Diggs will star in TNT’s Snowpiercer pilot, based on the film, based on the French graphic novel
Conan O’Brien’s contract with TBS has been renewed through 2022, though no word on whether his show will switch to a weekly format as previously rumored.
DC stays losing, as actor Billy Crudup has left the Flash film, while it’s reported that Sam Raimi has turned down the director job
Power Rangers movie Black Ranger Ludi Lin has joined DC’s Aquaman film in the role of “Murk”, whoever that is…
Fox News personality, and former wife of California Lt Governor Gavin Newsom, Kimberly Guilfoyle has stated that she is currently being considered by the Trump Administration to replace Sean Spicer as White House Press Secretary. Gee, wonder what they see in her…
After 9 seasons, this weekend’s season finale will by Bobby Moynihan’s final episode of Saturday Night Live, as his series Me, Myself, and I was picked up at CBS.
LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 was announced, but it won’t be on the Xbox 360, so it means nothing to me
In the Live Stage Show on TV department, Fox announced that they will air A Christmas Story Live in December, followed by Rent Live later in the season. Meanwhile, ABC will air The Wonderful World of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live in October
I covered a ton of renewals and cancellations that went down last week, but this week was no different, as the networks had to lock in their schedules for the fall. Here’s what’s been canceled/renewed since the last time we talked:
Cancellations
Shots Fired (Fox)
2 Broke Girls (CBS)
Baby Daddy (Freeform)
The Great Indoors (CBS)
Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (CBS)

So, as I pointed out up top, this was Upfronts Week for the major networks, where they unveil their fall schedules to reporters and critics. I’ve got to say that this upcoming season does very little for me. While last year’s presentations had me excited, this year’s stuff just looks like retreads of ideas we’ve already had or obvious film scripts that have been adapted for television. That’s something that you’re going to notice a lot this year: shows that would probably make decent movies, but aren’t something you’d want to check in on a weekly basis. The week started with NBC’s presentation, so let’s start with their new shows:
NBC
NBC renewed a big chunk of their schedule, and they’re holding a lot of their new shows for midseason (for which they didn’t give us trailers!), so there’s not a lot of new for the Fall.
youtube
The Brave – Formerly known as For God and Country, The Brave follows a multicultural team doing what I call “soldier shit”. That’s not to minimize what soldiers do; it’s just that there are certain things, like rescuing hostages, killing terrorists, etc, that are pretty much taken care of mainly by soldiers. Ya know, soldier shit. There are a lot of soldier shit shows coming this season, and this is merely one of them. We’re not necessarily in the most patriotic place right now, so I don’t know how these shows will fair. The trailer gives away the whole pilot, so do with that what you will. There’s an audience for this show, but I’m not it. Airing Mondays at 10, it’ll have a great lead-in in the form of The Voice, and its main competition in the timeslot will be Scorpion on CBS. By all accounts, it should have a fighting chance, so it’s The Brave‘s game to lose.
youtube
Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders – I guess enough time has passed that this case is considered “sexy” now. Back in the early 90s, the Menendez Brothers killed their parents and it was a big deal. The brothers went to jail, where they started amassing groupies like they were in a boyband or something. I’m not even lying! Anyway, this is an anthology series, so it really doesn’t matter how it does. If it does well, we get another installment based on another real life crime. If it flops, then they can just act like it was a One & Done idea, and throw it out like all the other Law & Order spinoffs we’ve had over the years. It’s only 8 episodes long, and the timeslot goes to Chicago Med once it’s done. Anyway, it’s perched atop NBC’s newly rechristened Must See Thursday Night, with This Is Us as a lead-in, so they clearly expect big things from it. Its competition will be How To Get Away With Murder, which is by far the lowest rated of the ABC Shondaland dramas, and Shemar Moore’s S.W.A.T. over on CBS. I think it’ll do just fine.
youtube
Will & Grace – So, this show’s back. Yay? I really loved the show in its original run, but I didn’t need it back. And while I barely remember its series finale, I remember something about Will & Grace not having spoken to each other for 15 years. So, is that out the window now? Who cares, I guess. I mean, if they can bring Roseanne back with all its continuity issues (yeah, I’ll get to that), then they can pull this off. I just don’t really know what the endgame is here. I mean, besides the fact that we’re in the Trump Administration, has the world really changed that much to be reflected in this show? I mean, any rights Will or Jack were granted are basically about to be taken away any day now, but is the show even going to go there? I just don’t see the point of this one. But it’s only, like, 12 episodes and, like all of these revivals, they’ll play it coy on longevity until they see how the numbers look. It’s going up against Grey’s Anatomy, Gotham on its new night, Supernatural, and The Big Bang Theory. Now, from a socioeconomic demographic standpoint, W&G and TBBT are going after different audiences, but I feel like the W&G audience moved on to Grey’s. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Let’s talk about some of NBC’s moves. Both Thursday night veterans Superstore and The Good Place are shifting to Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30. Now, they will have The Voice as a lead-in, but I feel like they should’ve stayed on Thursday if NBC really wanted to rebuild that night. I get that This Is Us is the breakout hit of the season, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to move it. It means it’s gonna be an uphill battle for NBC’s Tuesday comedies, as they’ll now be going up against Black-ish on its new night, as well as the Fox combo of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mick. As far as Tuesday comedies go, somebody’s gonna have to flinch. The Fox shows don’t do all that well, but the NBC shows are kinda precious right now. They need to be nurtured, which is what leaving them on Thursday would’ve done. The Blacklist, meanwhile, moves to Wednesdays at 8, where it’ll go up against the moved Riverdale and Empire. I think they all have different audiences, though, so it shouldn’t take too much of a hit. Thursday got blown up, with Great News getting the post-Will & Grace slot mainly because Tina Fey. And This Is Us on its new night will now go up against Scandal *in its final season*. The balls on NBC! I get that it’s their chance to install a show that could take over Thursday once Scandal is done, but this is a risky move. Meanwhile, Blindspot and Taken are moving to Fridays where they’ll die because they’re both bubble shows that were narrowly renewed in the first place.
Fox
Next up, we’ve got Fox, where a WHOLE lot of shows are moving around. As for their new shows, they all look like interesting movies, but they just don’t grab me enough to want to be a regular viewer. Fox is really good about that. I remember loving Lethal Weapon this season, and then I didn’t watch a single episode after the pilot. I see a lot of that happening this season.
youtube
Ghosted – Wow, where to begin? Two regular guys are kidnapped and recruited by a top secret organization that investigates the supernatural. As for casting, you can’t really go wrong with Craig Robinson and Adam Scott. This show is basically Hot Tub Time Machine 3, with more of a supernatural twist. The problem, however, is that’s exactly what this should have been: a mid-budget theatrical release that later finds its audience when it airs monthly on FX. This isn’t a weekly series, regardless of the fact that Robinson and Scott have fanbases. It’s slotted between The Simpsons and Family Guy, which sounds like a good thing, but that’s where middling comedies go to die. This season alone, that slot killed Son of Zorn and Making History. Now, it doesn’t really fit anywhere else on Fox’s schedule, as its “out there” nature makes it more at home with the animation stuff than, say, with New Girl and The Mick. So, that rules out Tuesday nights, which is the only other place Fox does comedies. Another problem is that Fox Sunday night just hasn’t been strong since they abolished the Animation Domination block. The Simpsons is a decent performer, and they keep it around to break records, while Family Guy is a shell of its former self, yet they don’t want to be the network that canceled it TWICE. Last Man on Earth is constantly a show on the bubble. Sunday nights need a shot in the arm, but this isn’t the show to do it. I don’t see this one having legs.
youtube
The Gifted – This is the one everyone’s got their eyes on. A spinoff of the X-Men films, this show follows a family on the run when they discover that their kids are mutants. It doesn’t help that their dad is a former mutant hunter, so it’s his employers who are after them. I mean, it looks OK, but I didn’t wet my pants or anything. It’ll be really hard to do anything mind-blowing with a weekly TV budget, but the pilot was directed by Bryan Singer, so that’s gonna put butts in seats. Hell, if Gotham is going into season 4 (now on Thursdays at 8), I think this thing can survive. It’s probably pretty expensive, but Fox has been wanting to expand their comic offerings (after all, Black Lightning was originally meant for them), so this will be a good fit for the post Lucifer slot. Speaking of Lucifer, I never thought I’d see the day when a show about The Devil would air during the 8 PM hour (its new timeslot). I wonder how they feel about that in the Bible Belt. After all, I originally said they weren’t gonna let the show survive, and here it is entering season 3. I sure called that one wrong!
youtube
The Orville – I love the idea here, as it’s basically Galaxy Quest: The Series. I mean, it’s clear Seth MacFarlane has an affinity for Star Trek, even if he’s spent more time reenacting the Star Wars saga on Family Guy. I’d love for this show to work, but I’m sure it’s on the expensive side. Now, Seth’s got a relationship with Fox, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they canceled it. It looks like the kind of show Fox loves to cancel. Now, it’s going up against Scandal and This Is Us, but I don’t think they share an audience. However, Arrow has been moved to Thursdays at 9, which I feel is its closest competition, as far as the male 18-49 demographic is concerned. There’s no way it wins its timeslot, so the question is what will Fox consider a “success” as far as its ratings go?
So, Fox’s moves are interesting. Lethal Weapon moves to Tuesday at 8, where it’ll go against The Voice, NCIS, and The Flash. It won’t win the timeslot, but maybe it can take some of The Flash‘s audience away from it. The Mick nows leads into Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as it’s now the stronger comedy, while Nine-Nine narrowly got renewed. On Wednesday, they moved Empire to 8, hoping it’ll be a good lead-in for Star. I honestly don’t think Star is a winner, and I think the only reason it got renewed was because A) it was created by Lee Daniels and B) its initial run was too short for them to gauge whether or not it was a success. For people looking for a nighttime soap as sudsy as Empire, they’re probably gonna choose the Dynasty reboot over on The CW, airing at the same time as Star. Meanwhile, Gotham moves to Thursday at 8, where it’ll go against The Big Bang Theory and Grey’s Anatomy. I think its biggest threat, however, comes in the form of Supernatural, now at 8 over on The CW.
Fox’s midseason bench doesn’t look too strong. I’ll take a quick look at those shows:
youtube
LA To Vegas – It’s a show about the antics of a flight crew that handles the weekend LA to Vegas route. I don’t care who’s producing the thing, this is gonna be just another forgotten Fox sitcom.
youtube
The Resident – Another “young doctor doesn’t play by the rules” show. It’s got Emily VanCamp, so that’s a plus. It could work. It looks very “Fox”.
ABC
ABC didn’t really do anything too drastic, with only a couple of new shows and a few moves.
youtube
Ten Days In The Valley – Kyra Sedgwick plays a workaholic TV writer whose daughter goes missing. So, the show revolves around the hunt, and the fact that she can’t trust anyone around her, yadda yadda yadda. ABC probably feels like Sedgwick was quite the “get” after her critically acclaimed run on The Closer, but I just don’t know about this show. There’s nothing special about it. Sure, there will be twists and turns, but the fact that you can already predict those twists is what’s working against the show. Airing Sunday at 10, its only scripted competition, however, will be Madam Secretary over on CBS. I don’t think Madam is gonna destroy it, but I simply think this show is going to struggle to both find an audience and also keep that audience engaged. And what would a season 2 look like? I don’t think this is a winner.
youtube
The Good Doctor – Fresh off A&E’s Bates Motel, Freddie Highmore stars as a young surgeon with autism. It’s from the creator of House, so you kinda know what you’re gonna get there. Ya know, he’s a miracle doctor who doesn’t do shit by the book. I really like the cast, with Richard Schiff (The West Wing), Hill Harper (CSI: NY), and Antonia Thomas (Misfits). I probably won’t watch it, but it could find an audience. The trick will be whether it genuinely portrays what it would be like to be an autistic surgeon. A lot of special interest groups will probably be keeping a close eye on this one, and I think a lot of people will be talking about it. Scheduled Monday at 10, its main competition is Scorpion and The Brave. I think it’ll do fine.
youtube
The Mayor – A young rapper decides to run for mayor in order to get attention on his mixtape. Then he wins, and has to figure out how to actually be mayor. This sounds terrible. This is the kind of thing that would’ve gone straight to DVD starring fat Anthony Anderson back in 2001. I think the network was just desperate to get into bed with Daveed Diggs because of his Hamilton pedigree. While it will have Black-ish as its lead-in, it’s slotted where Imaginary Mary and The Real O’Neals went to die. Just like Tuesday 10 PM is the Death Slot, 9:30 isn’t much better. This thing simply doesn’t have legs. I just hope it lasts long enough for the rapper and Lea Michele to become a couple.
youtube
The Gospel of Kevin – This looks like a reboot of Highway to Heaven. Jason Ritter plays Kevin Finn, who supposedly “isn’t a good guy”, even though the trailer doesn’t elaborate on why someone would think that. Anyway, one night he discovers a meteor, which actually contains an angel, played by comedian Cristela Alonzo. She’s gonna be his spirit guide, as he travels to country to gain his powers and change the lives of others. Yeah, it’s in the Tuesday Night Death slot, so that’s certainly a strike against it. Typically, new shows in the Tuesday 10 PM slot fail for ABC. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. only survived because it was a veteran, and even it got banished to Friday. Nothing can survive at in that slot, for whatever reason, and I don’t see Kevin bucking that trend. This thing is simply too high concept, and I’m not sure America’s ready for another angel show right now. This one doesn’t have a prayer.
Let’s talk about ABC’s moves. Shark Tank moves to Sundays at 9. I don’t know about that one. I know they’re rebranding Friday nights, but now it’ll be going up against football and NCIS: LA. I think this is only temporary, as it’ll eventually find a new home on the schedule – perhaps Tuesdays at 10? One that’s kinda controversial in my mind is the Minority Block they’ve created on Tuesday night. Things kick off with the struggling Hecks of The Middle, who’re then followed up by the Asians of Fresh Off The Boat, and the Blacks of Black-ish and The Mayor. I haven’t seen something this calculated since the days of UPN. Still, I guess we should just shut up and be glad for the representation. It’s weird because ABC’s Wednesday night is their comedy crown jewel, though they’re clearly trying to take back Tuesday. It’s just a question now of how they’re branding those nights. I get that they don’t want to move Modern Family, but Black-ish benefited from the 9:30 Wednesday timeslot because, even though they were different races, the Dunphys and the Johnsons occupied the same socioeconomic class. That’s got to translate into some sort of data for ad buyers. I guess you could say Black-ish “graduated” if they feel it can survive without Modern Family protecting it, but I hate that its old timeslot was given to American Housewife, which I’m kinda surprised was renewed. On Friday, Once Upon A Time moves from Sunday, while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will take over the 9 PM slot once Inhumans ends its run. A lot of folks feel like this is the death knell for both shows, since a move to Friday is always seen as a death sentence. I’ve never understood that, though, because if nerds truly have no lives, then shouldn’t they be home to watch these shows? Anyway, these shows are still on the air because they perform well on DVR/internationally, so their ratings clearly aren’t the only deciding factor.
Oddly enough, ABC’s most interesting new shows are being held for midseason. Since they won’t show up until January, I’m only gonna do some quick drive-by thoughts on them:
youtube
Alex, Inc – Zach Braff quits his successful job to start a podcast company. This is gonna look so dated when we look back on it, kinda like Selfie (remember that show?). It’s apparently going into the Sunday at 10 slot, so I guess Ten Days In The Valley will have wrapped by then. CBS will still probably have Madam Secretary, but Sunday Night Football will be over, so it’ll be interesting to see what NBC puts against it.
youtube
The Crossing – Steve Zahn is a small town cop who gets pulled into a mystery when a bunch of refugees from the future (!) wash up on his beach. I know I said I don’t like saga shows, but I really liked this trailer, and I can’t wait to see what this show is all about.
youtube
Deception – a cool as shit illusionist helps the FBI solve crimes. It’s SUCH a procedural, and there’s the whole will they/won’t they trope between him and the lady agent, but I don’t care. It looks so slick! I can’t wait.
youtube
For the People – A new Shondaland show about young sexy lawyers doing young sexy lawyer shit. It’ll be right at home in TGIT, especially once Scandal ends and frees up a slot.
youtube
Splitting Up Together – This is a movie, not a show! It’s good to see Jenna Fischer again, and I’ve loved Oliver Hudson since Rules of Engagement. It’s basically about a married couple trying to manage a “conscious uncoupling” while keeping their sanity. And there’s the slight hint that they may realize new things about each other and want to stay together. I have no idea how this is gonna go, but I’ll check it out.
youtube
Let’s revisit that Tuesday night situation, though, shall we? I feel like Black-ish is only keeping that slot warm for Roseanne‘s 8-episode run that debuts in 2018. They wouldn’t use it to kick off the night, as Roseanne‘s blue collar humor doesn’t necessarily translate at that hour, and I hardly see them bumping Modern Family on Wednesday night. So, I could see Roseanne returning to her Tuesday 9 PM roost of yesteryear. By this point, of course, The Mayor will already have been canceled, but Roseanne pairs better with The Middle than with Black-ish. I see a lot of comedy moves coming midseason for ABC.
CBS
CBS is “America’s Most Watched Network”, so they’re not making too many moves. Let’s take a look at their new shows.
youtube
Wisdom of the Crowd – Jeremy Piven, with a fresh set of hair plugs, stars as a software developer who creates a crowdsourcing app to help solve the murder of his daughter. Sounds a lot like Person of Interest, right? I mean, didn’t they have a machine that predicted crimes or some shit? I dunno. I never watched it. I just know it starred Jesus after he couldn’t get any work anywhere. Anyway, you should really watch this trailer because it contains stuff that is totally possible, and I’m not sure that’s such a good thing. It’s probably where society is heading, but the idea of crowdsourcing evidence to solve crimes just sounds like there are SO many things that could go wrong. As you see in the trailer, they’re gonna play the long game with the case surrounding Piven’s daughter, as that takes a backseat to the app being used to help the cops solve other crimes. CBS audiences are older and not very tech savvy. They don’t like when their shows get too “techy”. Sure, Person of Interest lasted 5 seasons, but take a look at Pure Genius from just this season. It was about a young tech billionaire who was gonna use cutting edge technology to cure all the world’s diseases. It was canceled after its initial 13 episode order. I know Piven can be polarizing, so I just don’t know about this one. Luckily, it’s scheduled Sunday at 8, with no scripted competition other than The Simpsons, so it should have room to breathe.
youtube
9JKL – HATE the title. It sounds like text speak or some shit. Instead, it’s about 3 apartments. Recently divorced actor Mark Feuerstein moves into apartment 9K, which happens to be between his parents, Elliot Gould and Linda Lavin, in 9J and his brother and his family in 9L. So, it’s a multigenerational, multi camera sitcom, starring a bunch of folks who tend to star in shows that are canceled. Again, I think the title hurts it, but it’s the kind of show that CBS could take or leave. The Big Bang lead-in should definitely help it, but the true test will be when Bang moves back to Thursday. I don’t think it’ll be a breakout hit, as it’s not exactly reinventing the wheel, but it might end up on the bubble and eke out a second season if CBS doesn’t have a deep bench next pilot season.
youtube
Me, Myself, and I – Oh, boy. Where to start with this? OK, we follow the main character at 3 different points in his life: age 14, when he meets the love of his life, age 40, when he’s newly divorced and trying to put his life back together, and age 65 when he’s reunited with the love from age 14. This show is doing A LOT! The casting is what makes it, though. The kid is a newcomer, but I think audiences will take to him like they did Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg. The 40 year old is a hapless loser, played capably by SNL‘s Bobby Moynihan. Meanwhile, the 65 year old is played by Night Court great John Larroquette. Oh, and Jaleel White must’ve spent all his Urkel money, ’cause he plays the 40 year old’s best friend. For me, the casting is what sells this show. I really want it to succeed ’cause I like everyone involved. It’s just going to be tricky to navigate 3 different time periods, and is there some sort of master 7-season plan where everything converges? I’m really pulling for this one, but its quirkiness asks a lot of its audience – especially since it’s going to dance around CBS’s Monday schedule for the first few months.
youtube
SEAL Team – More soldier shit, and this time the team is led by the sidekick from Bones, while taking assignments from Don Draper’s “third” wife. It’s the familiar trope of “They do such terrible shit out there that it’s hard for them to adjust to civilian life when they’re home.” Out of the three soldier shit series debuting this season, however, I think this one has the best chance of renewal based on the fact that it appeals to the NCIS/CSI sensibilities of CBS’s built-in audience. Fun fact: the lead role was originally going to Jesus himself, Jim Caviezel, but was recast when Caviezel left the project over creative differences. He might’ve brought the Person of Interest audience with him, but seeing as how Bones ran for 12 years (and don’t forget Angel), Boreanaz probably has a deeper fanbase.
youtube
Young Sheldon – This is such an interesting experiment: a single camera prequel to an aging multi camera sitcom. I know CBS wants to keep The Big Bang Theory machine chugging along, especially considering it’ll most likely be done in two years. I just always felt like a Sheldon was a Less Is More kind of character. I don’t need to know about his childhood because I get enough of a glimpse from his anecdotes. I feel like the audience that enjoys him actually enjoys Jim Parsons’s portrayal of him, rather than the character himself. On his own, Sheldon is kinda unlikeable, due to his lack of social skills and decorum. Since he’s on the spectrum, however, that’s all forgiven. Now, I think Iain Armitage does a pretty capable job of being a young Sheldon, but he’s also very off-putting to the viewer. I’m not sure anyone is going to root for him. Instead, you kinda feel sorry for the people in his orbit: his family, his teachers, etc. They simply live in a different world than he does. I will say that Zoe Perry does an amazing job portraying a younger version of Sheldon’s mom, played by her real-life mom, Laurie Metcalf. One of the biggest complaints about The Big Bang Theory is that its humor kinda appeals to the lowest common denominator. It might be a show about smart people, but it’s not necessarily a smart show. That said, the single camera format tends to be used for smart shows, i.e. Modern Family, Arrested Development, etc. Will the traditional TBBT audience migrate over to this new show and format? I’ll be very interested to see how this does.
youtube
S.W.A.T. – Ah, the show based on the movie based on the show. I wasn’t sure about this at first. I honestly didn’t see Shemar Moore as a leading man. I mean, he couldn’t even carry Soul Train back in the day, so how could he headline his own series? Anyway, the captain from Stargate Universe shoots a kid, and gets fired (can you believe that justice?!), so his S.W.A.T. unit is handed over to Shemar Moore. Now Moore’s forced to police the inner city neighborhood in which he grew up. There’s gonna be a lot of Black Lives Matter vs Blue Lives Matter stuff going on here. What happens where you’re both? The show is executive produced by Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, Fast & Furious 6), but something about this feels like a late 90s NBC show instead of a 2017 CBS series. The same way we may not be patriotic enough for soldier shit shows right now, I’m not sure this is the show that’s gonna redeem cops in a lot of folks’ eyes. It kinda fits CBS’s demographic, but they don’t do so well with the TV shows based on movies (Training Day, Rush Hour). It’s going against How To Get Away With Murder, which is the lowest rated of the Shondaland dramas, but it’s also going against NBC’s Law & Order Menendez spinoff. Even with limited competition, I don’t think this one gets a second season.
youtube
And while this isn’t going on the main network, it’s still a CBS show. Star Trek: Discovery. All I can say is “NO!” “NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!” I don’t know what I wanted, but this wasn’t it. I know some folks are so desperate for new Trek, but I want it to make sense, and I want it to be good. I knew a prequel was the wrong move because technology has come so far, so you can’t help but make it look better than The Original Series, though it should look less advanced due to when it’s set. A lot of people are gonna “cape” for it because it has a strong, Black woman as the protagonist, but those people can’t see the forest for the trees. Everything about this looks wrong to me. It’s funny that so many of us were wondering how we were gonna pirate this show, but after seeing this, I have no interest. It looks like a well-made fan film. Pass.
Looking at CBS’s moves, they really played it safe. On Sunday, NCIS: Los Angeles and Madam Secretary both move back an hour, filling the slot left by Elementary (coming back midseason), and making room for Wisdom of the Crowd. At this point, CBS is the only network with scripted drama on Sunday night, so I think they’ll do fine. Monday is in constant flux, depending on whether or not its football season. When the season starts, The Big Bang Theory will kick off the night, before it eventually moves back to Thursday, ceding its timeslot to Kevin Can Wait (which will start the season at 9 PM prior to the move). Once football ends, Superior Donuts will return to take the 9:30 slot occupied by new comedy Me, Myself, and I (which will shift to 9 PM). Whew! See, that’s CBS’s big problem: they move their “iffy” shows around so much that they can’t find an audience. 2 Broke Girls was all over the schedule this season before it got the chop. Even if folks don’t watch TV live anymore, these moves make them forget a show even comes on anymore. On Wednesday, Criminal Minds shifts to 10 to make room for David Boreanaz’s Seal Team. Thursday and Friday remain pretty much the same. Like I said, other than the Monday kerfuffle, CBS played it pretty safe while introducing more new shows that the other networks.
The CW
Finally, we come to The CW where moves abound. First, however, let’s look at the new shows.
youtube
Valor – More soldier shit, only this time it’s with overacting pretty people and a dash of PTSD. It falls into the category of something I’d watch as a movie, but I just don’t like getting on board “saga” shows these days because they have so many layers, and run the risk of being canceled before answering all, or any, of their questions. If they’re smart, this is a one season storyline, and then they’ll have to reinvent the show for season 2. That said, from what I see, I don’t think they need to be rushing to figure out a second season quite yet. Airing Monday at 9, it’ll probably get trounced by The Gifted over on Fox, as they both seem to be male-skewing shows, and I see Fox winning this round. I also don’t feel like Supergirl is the proper lead-in series, but they seem committed to keeping her kicking off Monday nights.
youtube
Dynasty – I’m too young to have watched the original, but this reboot is The CW’s bread and butter. I don’t know if the characters or plot points are the same, but it’s rich, pretty White people doing trifling shit to each other. And it’s by the producers of The O.C. and Gossip Girl? Yeah, they’ll get a good 4-5 seasons out of this. This isn’t the first franchise The CW has resurrected, as they also did it with 90210 and Melrose Place. The latter didn’t go so well for them, but the former was a reliable staple of their schedule for 5 seasons. I can definitely see the same here.
youtube
Black Lightning – It looks like your standard Berlantiverse show, even if it takes place in its own universe. The question is whether or not “The Community” is going to support it. People always plead for diversity, but then they don’t show up when it’s time. If you put out a Black Lightning comic right now, it would not sell. It just wouldn’t. So, will White audiences want to watch a show about a Black inner city vigilante trying to clean up the streets – especially when there’s no lure of a crossover with the shows they already love? It’s being held for midseason, so maybe it’ll take over Legends of Tomorrow‘s timeslot once it airs its unusual number of episodes (seriously, they have, like 16-episode seasons over there for whatever reason). Here’s the kicker, though: according to the network, the show won’t take place in the established Arrowverse, mainly due to logistics. It will be filmed in Atlanta, while the other shows film in Vancouver. As such, they’re also not planning a 5-way crossover between the shows. That last part makes me kinda glad, as I didn’t really think they tuck the landing with this season’s 4-way “Invasion” crossover. People might come out for this, but they might not. I really don’t know which way the wind blows with this one.
youtube
Life Sentence – This is a movie, not a TV series. A young girl who thought she was dying finds out she’s cured and now has to learn how to live her life. I’d like it to survive, as it’s co-executive-produced by Bill Lawrence of Scrubs fame, but this has as much staying power as this season’s No Tomorrow. Oh, you never even heard of No Tomorrow? It was about a young woman who thinks the world is going to end, so she has to learn to live life to its fullest in the time that she has left. Yeah, kind of the reverse of this. It got canceled after its initial 13 episodes. Anyway, it’s cute and quirky, but I figure there’s enough there for about 90 minutes – not a full season. Anyway, it’s pretty clear why they’re holding this lil midseason.
Now, let’s talk about the moves because they are drastic. Riverdale moves from Thursday to Wednesday at 8, pitting it against Empire, The Blacklist, Survivor, and The Goldbergs. The show has a following, though, so I really don’t think this move will hurt it too much. If anything, it’ll give White folks a sudsy alternative to Empire at the same time. On Thursday, Supernatural moves to 8, while Arrow, ceding its timeslot to Riverdale, now occupies Thursday at 9 – pitting it against This Is Us, The Orville, and the final season of Scandal. Poor fucking Arrow. That is not an enviable place to be, but DVR might help it. If it gets absolutely killed, six seasons was a good run. I think it’ll make it to seven, but this move does it absolutely no favors. On Friday, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend moves to 8, while Jane the Virgin moves from Monday at 9 to Friday at 9. Online buzz is what keeps Crazy on the air, so maybe they’re hoping that’ll be the case for Jane? I know Jane has a fanbase, and Supergirl wasn’t the most logical lead-in for it, but Friday is always such an uncomfortable situation.
Anyway, after all of this, I think ABC has the best new offerings, though they’re holding most of them til midseason. I feel like NBC has the most stable schedule, and they’re taking the fewest risks, but CBS has more new Fall shows that I’m genuinely curious about. So that’s why CBS won the upfronts and had the West Week Ever.

Another get to know me tag!
Thanks to @midnightmemory66 for tagging me! I love answering these! :D ♥
rules: answer the 20 questions below. tag some people and give them new questions to answer as well.
1. Favourite piece of clothing?
That’s definitely my twenty one pilots beanie! I don’t leave my house without it. Generally speaking as favorite ‘type’ of clothing it would be kneesocks!
2. All time favourite song?
I can’t decide for a ‘all time favorite’ but I can sincerely tell you that the song which means the most to me is Kitchen Sink by twenty one pilots.
3. Favourite book author?
Definitely Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ♥
4. Main otp?
OTP means One True Pairing and it wouldn’t be me if i didn’t have a tons of these one true pairings and keep on switching them like crazy. Right now it’s certainly Sheriarty and I think that it’s going to stay with me for quite a long time ♥
5. Do you take care of your plant?
I don’t have plants since I’m an allergic. But I’m sure that my potential plants would be the poorest beings on the entire planet Earth just because I’d definitely forget about them around like two days after getting them...
6. Book you’re currently reading?
It’s a shame but I don’t really read that many books... Although recently I’ve been looking for a slow build fanfiction with a lot of chapters so that could count right :’)
7. Favourite type of shoes?
They’re the most uncomfortable shoes ever and wearing them is the definition of physical pain but high heels.
8. Do you write a diary?
I used to! I’ve written quite a lot of them actually but with growing up and becoming bussier I just let the tradition be. Pitty.
9. PC or a laptop?
Laptop. 100%.
10. Pastel or dark colours?
All the colors!
11. Do you like movies or books more?
I feel like such a lazy person but I’m going to have to say movies. A lot of books (which has a movie adaptation) begin to bore me after some time. But there’s nothing like a really good book! For example I could read Sherlock stories by ACD over and over again and they won’t ever grow old to me!
12. Fave music artist of all times?
twenty one pilots ♥
13. Most important person in your life?
It’s impossibly hard to choose only one person but I’m going to say my mom on this one. I could never wish for a better mother.
14. Do you like cats?
Sure, why not. I can put up with them!
15. Black tea + milk, yay or nay?
Oh my Gosh there goes my inner child but black tea is just so flippin’ bitter for me that I just can’t drink it! And the scenario of putting milk into any tea has never really appealed to me.
16. Do you like twenty one pilots?
Oh fren you bet I do! |-/
17. Do you support/are you a part of LGBTQ+?
I definitely am a part and I definitely support LGBTQ+ with my whole heart.
18. Describe your most fave thing in five words
This question put me through a lot of struggle because such a philosopher like me ( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) can’t just answer the first thing that comes to their mind.
hOWEVER: cold, refreshing, damp, transparent, tapping
19. What does music mean to you?
Music to me is literally like my little personal room. Like walls that simply build around me with the first notes of a song. I don’t leave my house without earphones plugged in and to be honest I wear them almost the whole day even when staying at home. It’s not an exaggeration when I say that music means the life to me.
20. How’s your mental health going? + can people seek comfort on your page if they have a problem with theirs?
People can definitely seek comfort in my arms with every single problem of theirs. I don’t want to make myself sound like some saint who has the answer to everything but I really do genuinely enjoy helping people. I want to make sure that everyone’s okay and helping others helps me honestly. If I could do a job which would involve helping people in any way imaginable, doesn’t matter if helping them with mental issues or just giving them instructions to connect their television the right way, I’d be seriously happy. In case of my own problems; my personal issues are nothing compared to the problems of others. There are really serious things (some people are going through) which have to be eliminated and my bad grades are most definitely not included in them. ~ ~ ~
My questions:
1. May you be so kind and let me know your MBTI type?
2. Are you more pesimistic or optimistic?
3. Do you consider yourself open-minded?
4. Who’s your favourite youtuber/youtube channel and why?
5. Is there any food you absolutely detest and it makes you sick just looking at it?
6. Any foreign language you’d love to learn?
7. Do you keep yourself updated about the current political situation? Why not/yes? (hope this doesn’t count as two questions in one...)
8. Are you more the leader or the follower?
9. Are you the only child or you have any siblings or even some twin?
10. Are you also lost with thinking of another 10 questions?... Once again thanks a lot for tagging me! Tagging a few people, hope you guys don’t mind :) ! @deduction-of-sherlockholmes, @vintagetyler, @harrisonatemyapplescruffs, @eislinn, @mylockedforgood

Is Kuro No Tantei really like Detective Conan and Kindaichi? If so I would love to read this series do you think you can tell me more about it?
Hello! It’s my first ask (yay!). I have yet to read Kindaichi (it’s on the very large list of mine), but I do think Kuro no Tantei (KnT) is similar to Detective Conan in that they both have high school detectives as the main characters, but KnT's main character, Kuroba, is more sadistic and likes to toy with his suspects and his assistant. There is a deeper meaning as to why he became a detective. Also, there is another high school detective like Heiji, called Usamu who challenges Kuroba. All of the other characters are quite interesting, even the enemies and culprits aren’t quite what they seem at first. The ending also has an awesome twist. There isn’t any explicit romance, it’s either one-sided or implied (I’m sure you know how shounen are).
I want to give more detail but I don’t want to give away spoilers. I hope I convinced you to read it. It’s a short read too (30.5 chapters). I do recommend it~
Oh, and just in case this message somehow says it was replied by love-cutter (my main blog), this is because seeking-rest is my side blog.

Six Flags America 2007
August 10, 2007 Photo Album
I left for the trip on Thursday, leaving directly from work just after noon so that I could arrive in Moorefield by the early evening. After driving around 5 hours, my first stop was at Rite Aid in Petersburg for some razors, and then I headed to Jacqui’s house. It was dinner time, but I’d eaten on the way up (which still didn’t stop me from having a bowl of rice), so I sat and talked with Sis & the family during dinner.
Kelly and I left and went back to his apartment in Moorefield and then stayed up to watch Conan. I had a feeling I wouldn’t get much sleep, and I didn’t. But I was up and ready to go by 6:15 a.m., at which time I left Kelly’s apartment and headed to town for gas. After filling up, I started towards D.C., which was a shorter ride than I had planned for. Not much in the way of traffic, and I stopped in Virginia for breakfast at McDonalds. I actually like driving to D.C.
I went around the southern part of the Beltway and called Matt about 10 miles from Six Flags America. I told him I was going to make a quick bathroom stop, and about 2 blocks away from Six Flags, I stopped at Target and picked up some disposable cameras, since I didn’t have a digital this trip. Two exits up I spotted Matt and Bill at the entrance to Six Flags America, as the bus dropped them right off at the front gate entrance road to the park, I stopped on the side of the entrance road and they hopped in.
We got into the park without having to pay the $15 for parking due to Bill having a Six Flags Parking Pass, and ended up rather close to the gate. Very few cars were there at this point, so we got prepared and headed over to the front gate to wait until park opening at 10 a.m. Because of Matt having a season pass, I only paid $10 to get in with the special promotion Six Flags is running company wide. Score! This was my first stop at Six Flags America since 2001, and I was anxious to get back. We waited, took a few pictures, and then at 10 a.m. the gates opened.
We made our way onto Main Street 1776, which is really well done, and headed back towards Batwing and Superman Ride of Steel. However, at the end of Main Street we were stopped. The gates open at 10 a.m., but the rest of the park doesn’t open up until 10:30 a.m. This is obviously a great chance for people to spend money on food and other stuff while the park makes you wait. There is a small stage set up at the end of Main Street, and eventually Daffy and Sylvester came out and danced to the music. Then an original musical score came on after they had selected a kid from the audience to ‘pull the Big switch’ to ‘Turn On’ Six Flags America.
Now, I have to say, this is a great idea. Get the crowd pumped up. This is what more parks should do. They opened with an original song with Looney Toons dancing on stage, did the National Anthem, and then had a countdown as the kid pulled the switch. All of that was what Six Flags needs to be doing at the parks for the family atmosphere. However…I must complain just slightly. First, only 2 Looney Toons were on stage. I would have liked to have seen more, especially Bugs Bunny. Second, the music wasn’t really that good. The lyrics were really corny, and the music was just annoying. I would have rather have seen an opening ceremony with a more classical score and actual Looney Toons voices providing the commentary in the same amount of time. Okay, I’m finished with griping for the moment. It’s still a large improvement for the company, and they are on the right track. Oh, and the throwing of the switch thing is really cool with streamers and bouncy balls coming from the ‘switch’. So at least they got that right.
We mad our way back to the back of the park. Thus far, the park was exceptionally clean, although most people often complain of the park being dirty. Granted, it was park opening time, but the park looks really nice when it opens, with the exception of some coasters needing paint and some more landscaping and themeing needed past the first section of Gotham City, back towards Superman.
Matt needed his Batwing credit, so that was our first destination, but since it hadn’t been seen testing quite yet and Superman was running and had no line, we headed there first. I’d love to do a rundown for this ride, but I can’t. We got in line and Matt and I got in the back car while Bill went closer to the front. I had cargo shorts on, and while Matt sat down and pulled his restraint down, I was having issues. If you haven’t ridden one of these since the shin guard retro-fit, then, like me, you didn’t realize what the stupid retro-fit did to the restraints. I couldn’t fit because I had wallets, classes, hats, cell phone, and more in my cargo pockets. Matt had no troubles, but I couldn’t ride, and I wasn’t leaving my wallet out on the side of the train, and it was giving problems in my regular pockets as well, so I sat this one out. And yes, I huffed and puffed for a few minutes.
I went to the entrance again because I figured I would just put my stuff in a locker, but the ride op at the gate was too busy talking on her cell phone to tell me that the lockers weren’t up and running yet as the person hadn’t come to ‘unlock the lockers’. Of course, being myself, I interrupted her loudly enough that she eventually had to answer me. I went back to the exit and waited on Matt and Bill, and after getting off, they did give me the consolation that it hadn’t warmed up yet and the ride wasn’t that great, but that we will get on as a group for the next ride.
So at this point, I hadn’t ridden anything yet, and Batwing was right there. I’ve ridden all of the Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters, and I rode Batwing in it’s first season. I wasn’t in the mood to ride it this time, but with no line, I couldn’t refuse riding as Matt got his credit lap. Thankfully there was only a 1 train wait.
Batwing-We got a front row ride, Yay! Actually, it was really a good ride. Not very rough at all, and I enjoyed it. The drop is just okay, but the horseshoe curve is really good. The loop still pulls major forces, as does the helix, and even though they were snappy, the inline twists are still fun, although I prefer BORG’s corkscrews. Batwing is running the best I’ve seen of the three of these from my most current rides on all 3, although I haven’t ridden Firehawk in its new home yet. I’m actually glad I rode Batwing, even if all of my change did fall out of my pocket.
So we went back over to Ride of Steel, but this time Bill put my & Matt’s wallets in his back pocket of his jeans, so that left mostly non-essential stuff in my cargos, which I put in my hat and then put Matt’s hat on top of in the station. No line again for the back car, so we all rode together after Matt slammed the restraint down on me so that I could get a ride.
Superman Ride of Steel-The drop is still really great, but the 2nd hill, which was totally blissful the last time I rode, was not hitting as well as it can. I guess it was the time of day. However, the first helix, the 3rd hill (*THE* hill), the 2nd helix, and all of the elements after were giving great airtime and major forces. I still love Superman, and I’m very happy I don’t have to re-rank it. Even with the 2nd hill not doing much, it is still a solid ride in my book. Plus I got my ride, so I was happy, and the day only got better at Six Flags from here.
I will stop right here and comment that for the most part, the ride ops (except on Batwing, which is a slow loading coaster anyways, but the ops were nice) were pretty sucky today. No real reason other than they acted like they didn’t want to be there for the most part, which is sad, because this park has great rides and loads of potential. Anyways, we headed back towards Gotham City’s main section and decided to stop by Joker’s Jinx. I loved Joker the last time I rode it and that was with the shoulder restraints. This time it would be without.
Joker’s Jinx-Joker’s Jinx was my first launched coaster in 2001, and I was blown away by it. It’s a strong coaster with a great layout that I’ve loved every time I rode another one like it. Today, however, I was slightly let down. The initial launch into the layout was really not very good. It was adequate in that it launched us into the first element, but it was really sluggish. I noticed it right off and even said so just after launching. The rest of the ride, however, was really good, and the 2nd half after the flat section really tore thru the tracks. Joker’s Jinx is still a great coaster, but I was left with only a fraction of adrenaline because of the launch. I guess you can’t have everything.
After a quick stop for water and a restroom, we headed over towards ROAR. I absolutely loved this coaster on my first trip. It was just amazing. I had heard that it wasn’t running very well, so I wanted to see for myself. On the way over, I saw Two Face cycle. I wanted to ride it, but it hasn’t been running very much this season, from what I’ve been told. In fact, it was even on the rides listed closed for the day. But apparently that wasn’t the case, so I made sure to schedule time for Two Face later, if there was time. Then we went to ROAR’s line.
ROAR-I rode in the back for my first ride, and to be honest, while it wasn’t really rougher than the first time I rode it, it wasn’t running great in the back. Sure, it was fun, but I was kind of disappointed. Although the first drop is still good, I just wasn’t overly impressed with the rest of the layout. I got off when the train pulled into the station, but when Bill and Matt arrived at the station, no one was in line for their seats, so they rode again. I waited, and then we went and got in the front of the train where there was also no line once they got out of the back seat. This was the ride I wanted. Far better than the first go round, ROAR was living up the memory I had of it from 2001. I don’t get the rough comments, because the ride was definitely not rough for a wooden coaster running PTC trains. I really enjoyed this, and I’m glad I rode a 2nd time to get the ‘real’ ride that ROAR can give.
I toyed with the idea of riding Mind Eraser, but eventually we didn’t, so at this point we headed over to Wild One. I would’ve liked to have ridden the Typhoon Seacoaster, which did cycle at least 2 times earlier, and all of the water was on, but the ride was closed. I still have yet to ride this. No line for Wild One, so Matt and I got in the back of the train. I love being at a park when there are no lines and I love the coasters.
Wild One-This coaster still amazes me. I wasn’t expecting much when I first rode it in 2001. It didn’t look like much and I only had planned on giving it a courtesy lap then, but it was really good. This day it was running crazy. The first drop was good, first couple of hills were good, the double up and double down were both fun, but the hill after the double down flung Matt and me out of our seats, and the helix was just sick in so many ways. Wild One is definitely that. A great classic coaster that gets the care it deserves, even if some of the better parts have been re-profiled.
Bill and Matt decided to get another ride, and as much as I’d have liked to, the line for Two Face was in the station, so I knew I’d better go and get a ride on it. I told Matt and Bill I’d get in line, and they could wait on me once I got off at the exit. When I arrived at the station, it was about a 3 train wait to ride. I think I’d waited about an hour the first time I ever rode one of these, and the lines are usually really long and slow. Thankfully this wasn’t a very long wait.
Two Face The Flip Side-I opted for the middle of the train, facing forwards. The journey up the first lift spike still unnerves me, especially stopping when the train reaches the top. But the release is still really great, the cobra roll forwards is still good, and the loop is just okay going forwards. On the trip back, however, everything takes on a whole new flavor. I almost blacked out on the loop like I did on Face/Off a couple of years prior, but I fully blacked out on it. I wish I’d have blacked out on this as well, what a rush. Matt and Gator snapped a few pictures of me on the ride and in the station as well. The only problem with the ride, though, is that it is far too short.
Although Matt, Bill, and I would have liked to have had another go on Superman, it was getting close to 1 p.m., and our plan was to leave and hurry down to Busch Gardens so that we could be there at nite. We strolled over so I could get a picture of Mind Eraser, and then as we were back on Main Street 1776, I took Matt and Bill’s picture. Just then, someone who worked at the park asked me if I’d like him to take all of our pictures together. I smiled and said sure, and Bill asked if he’d mind taking one for Bill as well. Little did we realize at first that this was the park’s General Manager. He was very nice, but kind of freaked out and excused himself once we told him we were coaster geeks. Oh well, the park looks nice, the GM was very nice, now if only he can pour some of that customer service out to the employees.
So we got our picture on and left. Took a few minutes to find my car, I was far closer than any of us realized. I really enjoyed the 2.5 hours we actually spent riding at Six Flags America. I think I’ve listed all of the issues I think should be addressed, but overall, I’m keeping my positive opinion of a park that most people hate.
Next up, the plans called for us to drive to Busch Gardens Europe. I stopped at a Wendy’s before we arrived at the D.C. Beltway, where traffic was moving fairly steadily. Once we got on I-95, signs said to expect some delays, and I wish I’d have gotten in the HOV lanes, which split off of the regular lanes. Sadly, I didn’t due to a layover on I-95 and it took 4 hours to go 70 miles. We where hot, I was irritated, and all 3 of us were sleepy. My AC wasn’t working very well just sitting on the interstate with the sun glaring down either (I think I need a re-charge). Matt and Bill were sleeping most of the time, which is good for them, because I get very irritable when I’m hot and aggravated and sleepy. I just sat there and complained to myself in my head.
After about 2 hours, many people were heading over into the HOV late thru a cop car turnaround, which is illegal, but we were all tired of waiting apparently. This sped things up for a few miles, but then we stopped again. Another hour later and I got back over into the regular lane, just 2 miles before the HOV lane merged back over by using another cop car turnaround.
Since all of our time was wasted, once we arrived close to Kings Dominion, Matt reluctantly agreed with Bill and me (who weren’t happy with our decision but felt it was necessary) to blow off Busch Gardens for the evening, go to Kings Dominion instead, and do Busch Gardens on Saturday. So instead of heading to Williamsburg, I pulled off at the park by accident (and it looked busy), and we headed down to the next exit after I got back on I-95 to the Econo Lodge that Bill had booked to get ready to head to Kings Dominion.
