In my Zeus bag today so I'm just gonna put it out there that exactly none of the great Ancient Greek warrior-heroes stayed loyal and faithful and completely monogamous and yet none of them have their greatness questioned nor do we question why they had the cultural prominence that they did and still do.

Jason, the brilliant leader of the Argo, got cold feet when it came to Medea - already put off by some of her magic and then exiled from his birthland because of her political ploys, he took Creusa to bed and fully intended on marrying her despite not properly dissolving things with Medea.

Theseus was a fierce warrior and an incredibly talented king but he had a horrible temper and was almost fatally weak to women. This is the man who got imprisoned in the Underworld for trying to get a friend laid, the man who started the whole Attic War because he couldn't keep his legs closed.

And we cannot at all forget Heracles for whom a not inconsiderable amount of his joy in life was loving people then losing the people around him that he loved. Wives, children, serving boys, mentors, Heracles had a list of lovers - male and female - long enough to rival some gods and even after completing his labours and coming down to the end of his life, he did not have one wife but three.

And y'know what, just because he's a cultural darling, I'll put Achilles up here too because that man was a Theseus type where he was fantastic at the thing he was born to do (that is, fight whereas Theseus' was to rule) but that was not enough to eclipse his horrid temper and his weakness to young pretty things. This is the man that killed two of Apollo's sons because they wouldn't let him hit - Tenes because he refused to let Achilles have his sister and Troilus who refused Achilles so vehemently that he ran into Apollo's temple to avoid him and still couldn't escape.

All four of these men are still celebrated as great heroes and men. All four of these men are given the dignity of nuance, of having their flaws treated as just that, flaws which enrich their character and can be used to discuss the wider cultural point of what truly makes a hero heroic. All four of these men still have their legacies respected.

Why can that same mindset not be applied to Zeus? Zeus, who was a warrior-king raised in seclusion apart from his family. Zeus who must have learned to embrace the violence of thunder for every time he cried as a babe, the Corybantes would bang their shields to hide the sound. Zeus learned to be great because being good would not see the universe's affairs in its order.

The wonderful thing about sympathy is that we never run out of it. There's no rule stopping us from being sympathetic to multiple plights at once, there's no law that necessitate things always exist on the good-evil binary. Yes, Zeus sentenced Prometheus to sufferation in Tartarus for what (to us) seems like a cruel reason. Prometheus only wanted to help humans! But when you think about Prometheus' actions from a king's perspective, the narrative is completely different: Prometheus stole divine knowledge and gifted it to humans after Zeus explicitly told him not to. And this was after Prometheus cheated all the gods out of a huge portion of wealth by having humans keep the best part of a sacrifice's meat while the gods must delight themselves with bones, fat and skin. Yes, Zeus gave Persephone away to Hades without consulting Demeter but what king consults a woman who is not his wife about the arrangement of his daughter's marriage to another king? Yes, Zeus breaks the marriage vows he set with Hera despite his love of her but what is the Master of Fate if not its staunchest slave?

The nuance is there. Even in his most bizarre actions, the nuance and logic and reason is there. The Ancient Greeks weren't a daft people, they worshipped Zeus as their primary god for a reason and they did not associate him with half the vices modern audiences take issue with. Zeus was a father, a visitor, a protector, a fair judge of character, a guide for the lost, the arbiter of revenge for those that had been wronged, a pillar of strength for those who needed it and a shield to protect those who made their home among the biting snakes. His children were reflections of him, extensions of his will who acted both as his mercy and as his retribution, his brothers and sisters deferred to him because he was wise as well as powerful. Zeus didn't become king by accident and it is a damn shame he does not get more respect.

What are your opinions on Casstim?

i LOVE CassTim. i've actually written a CassTim fic that's mostly just fluff and smut, but i have a lot of ideas/thoughts about them that play with the more complicated aspects of them.

i'm of the opinion that Tim and Cass were a potential romance that DC left the door open for before Tim got adopted by Bruce. (and tbh, even after he got adopted there were certain interactions in Red Robin (2009) that felt romantically implied) a lot of their interactions have implied feelings on both sides so of all Batcest ships, i think this one has a *lot* of genuine canon backing despite it being one of the most underrated ships of the fandom.

the dynamic between Cass and Tim is really interesting to me because Tim doesn't want to be Batman in any capacity and thinks that goal is actually incredibly unhealthy and unachievable, whereas to Cass it's the thing she strives for the most and if anything she wants to be even more than that. (Batgirl (2000) #59 actually has a really interesting discussion about that and that whole post-War Games arc is fun for understanding how Tim and Cass feel about each other) so a lot of their interactions clash because of that and they can't always see eye to eye on what vigilante justice and Batman's vision should look like. their relationship with each other is always going to be dependant on their relationship with Bruce first, as well as the Batman mantle as a whole. so for them to love each other (which, they do without a doubt, romantic or not) they have to accept where they don't agree with each other.

there's such a gentleness to CassTim, i think? not because i think Cass (or Tim tbh) is gentle, but i think for the exact opposite reason. there is this fullness and drivenness in the way she loves and her undying devotion to them. she would do anything to protect her loved ones. and when you combine that with Tim, who's pretty self-sacrificial at his worst, you have some interesting conflict because they're both too-willing to die for the other. their lives are defined by violence, *especially* Cass', so for her to finally let herself be loved and protected by someone else as much as she loves others is something that simply makes me feral.

they've both been trained by Shiva, which i don't think gets explored enough because it's fun for exploring the way they fight and think in a fight being potentially similar. Cass is *far* smarter than anyone gives her credit for being, and has detective skills on par with Tim, in my opinion. they balance each other out in a lot of ways. they're two people who have *chosen* this fight more than a lot of the rest of the Batfamily. being Batgirl is so important to Cass and it's something she chose because of her desperate want to be good. and Tim chose to be Robin because he knew Gotham and Bruce needed that. while they don't always agree on it, i would argue Cass and Tim understand the nuances of the Batman mantle and what it represents deeper than almost anyone else. because of that i'm particularly interested in a future CassTim, where Cass becomes Batman and Tim is in a weird limbo where he wants to stop being a vigilante but can't seem to quite let go of the life and how they end up meeting in the middle of that. i think it could be really fun with a lot of complicated arguments between them that end in a slow burn romance.

idk man this is baseless rambling, but tldr i love them so dearly and there's so much that can be explored between them. also, i think TimKonCass should be a thing. i like KonCass more than most people do (why do y'all hate this ship it's so good pls hear me out-) and i think as a complicated weird throuple they'd be fun.

From the very start of the relationship, he will welcome all forms of physical intimacy and be able to tell when you want it versus when you don't. you are the priority when it comes to physical touch.

With other batboys or bfs you may have to be patient and keep in mind their boundaries when it comes to touch but not with grayson. like she would constantly be overshadowed by the four brothers because they are meant to have quirks and distinct personalities to show that they grew up to be cultivated a certain way.

Avery had none of that. She grew up normally, and has a very normal personality. She doesn’t speak in riddles, or wear suits everyday, or singe her eyebrows off, or even have hardcore dedication to the cowboy aesthetic. She is just a girl who gets sucked into a world where everything is so foreign to her and she’s just trying to make sense of it all. Even though she feels incredibly awkward she still does an amazing job as establishing herself as the heiress she is.

I love her because I see myself in her. She could blow up the houses of parliament and I’d forgive her for it. But in the books there are certain moments where she acts insensitive and is ignorant of other’s feelings. For example when she forgot Max’s, her besties, birthday. And though in the books you see her grow and become more caring for those around her, a show wouldn’t do justice to it. People wouldn’t like her for it, and keep on not liking her for it.

The show would become just about the brothers, and whether you were Team Jameson or Team Grayson, and everyone would overlook Avery even though she’s the MAIN CHARACTER AND ITS HER SHOW.

Considering that Sunburst and Starlight's families are in the mob in the Grand Galloping 20s AU,How does that one episode where Sunburst and Starlight return to their home town to fix a friendship problem between their parents play out in the AU?

The Parent Map episode is actually what inspired me to rework Starlight and Sunburst's story. I saw a lot of potential drama with how so many of their issues in adulthood are related to the relationships they had with their parents. Obviously since the episode is meant for young children, it doesn't go deep into traumas that can be caused by parenting (which is totally fine). My idea was to push these relationships a lot further for fun and as a creative writing exercise; How would Starlight being neglected rather than coddled by her father affect how she views the incident when Sunburst left? How would Sunburst have turned out if he not only failed to do magic, but was treated like a failure by his mother? To answer your question, I don't see either of them ever returning to their hometown, because the dynamics are completely different.

Btw, reworking all the parent stuff made Starlight and Sunburst's reunion a LOT more dramatic and tragic. I went on a full rant to Bix about potential ideas of how that scene would change.

If it isn't obvious, Starlight and Sunburst are my pick for one of the most underrated (and severely underdeveloped) dynamics/stories in the show. I wanna give them a lot of attention in the AU.

Astrology observations part 2. 🪽

- I have noticed that all the people I have dated,liked me or I had crush on. Have fire placements and mostly Sagittarius.

- speaking of Sagittarius. I have to say that men are the type to notice they are in love with you way too late and by then they will not admitted it because they are emotionally aloof or maybe are afraid of rejection.

- also speaking of the same sign. I have seen Sagittarius and Scorpio have the best best friend duo. They just match so well because they complete each other.

- Virgo and Capricorns have anxiety issues. (My best friend who is Capricorn went to therapy for that and my mom who is Virgo rising when something happens she freaks out).

- i might be a Pisces myself but I found other Pisces suns weird. (An old ex was Pisces sun and he was weird and musty). On the other hand Pisces placements are my fave.

- I’ve noticed that some virgo suns are problematic or had a problematic phase. Sometimes it’s because they have an attitude or because they are a little bit immature. Especially combined with fire placements.

- my love for Capricorns is huge but I have to admit that they can be very sharp and cold people if u try them. They have more patients than a Taurus but if u cross their limits u are out forever.

- all scorpio man will be possessive not matter the other placements

- Pisces and Gemini duo is a little bit underrated. If they both are mature and developed then their friendship will be amazing.

- remember when I said how cold Capricorns can be? Well the same goes for cancer. They are sharp and will cut you off without explaining. At least u will get an explanation from Capricorn.

- Aquarius placements can make any water sun more aloof and detached.

- Virgo moons are made to be stars. See how many celebs have that moon. They are lyric genius🤌🏻

- Scorpio moons or any other placement show that the person had to matured sooner or have been through a lot in their childhood.

- Capricorns and scorpios have very intense eyes.

- Gemini,Sagittarius and Pisces will do the most out of the blue things. Gemini will start a new study, Sagittarius will go into an unplanned trip and Pisces will pretend to be a scientist and try create new stuff by ruining the things they already had. (I used to do that when I was a kid)

- Capricorns and Aquarius the dry texters of the zodiac

- and speaking of those 2. They are an underrated couple. (My cousin married an Aquarius man and they have a beautiful relationship with no problems at all)

- libra sun/moon might had social anxiety or hated doing things alone.

- Pisces,Sagittarius,Aquarius and Gemini minds are so difficult to predict.

- as a Pisces myself I can’t get along with my sister sign. All Virgo turn to hate me secretly or not just hitting well.

it's a season 3 rewrite from the day of the black sun onwards where katara and zuko both get captured and they work together to try and find the gaang. it's pretty long but the slow burn is so well done, they absolutely nailed the characterisation and it might be my favourite fic ever. they learn everything about each other and the moments zutara shares makes my heart burn with happiness. cannot recommend this one enough.

they aged up all the characters by two years and it's basically about ember island and what happened after southern raiders. it's a bit uncomfortable at times for some, because there's quite a lot of sex mentioned and featured and drinking as well but the messages overall and the lessons are really good. and it covers the non consensual kataang kiss and there's so many good takeaways. not finished, but ends up in a good spot.

hear me out, hear me out, HEAR ME OUT, it's another college modern au (yeah, sue me, i love my modern aus) but it's really well done, the characterisation is done right, no hate to any of the characters whatsoever, supremely adorable, there's some smut but just scroll past that. so zuko and katara basically end up being lab partners in a cooking class which ozai seriously frowns upon. ozai runs this really morally bankrupt company and zuko works in it, and basically figures out that ozai is doing illegal dumpings and tries to report it.

katara is an up and coming popular actor and is zuko's high school crush. they meet again and it's so adorable.

we don’t talk enough about breathe. it’s honestly one of the (if not THE) most underrated songs in omar’s discography. the melody is the kind of beautiful that makes your heart ache, especially in the beginning with the piano, and all the instrumentals blend together so perfectly. the lyrics are some of the (again, if not THE) strongest in omar’s discography like wdym you’re sleeping on a song with the lyric “it’s gotta be that you remind me of every single song on the radio/you’re the type of melody that i can’t live without” ???????? omar’s vocals and the bg vocals are emotion-loaded, godly, angel-like, stunning, breathtaking (pun intended), etc etc and the overall production ties everything together so perfectly. WHY AREN’T WE TALKING MORE ABOUT BREATHE???

the best way i can describe this fic is that it drove an iron stake through my heart multiple times, pulled it out, then delicately rearranged the pieces and stitched it back together with gentle fingers. take it how you will but after a certain chapter i stopped reading it bc it was too painful, and then came back two months later to finish it off AND I AM SO GLAD I DID.
