I just realised that if the inheritance games were ever turned in to a show (which i would absolutely DEVOUR btw), people who havenât read the books would come at my girl Avery for just existing đ
NO BECAUSE SHEâS ALREADY SO UNDERRATED AS IT IS, AND WITHOUT HER INTERNAL MONOLOGUE SHE WOULD BE COMPLETELY MISCHARACTERISED AND PEOPLE WOULDNâT LIKE HER BECAUSE THEY WOULDNâT SEE HER FOR WHAT SHE IS.
I DONâT KNOW IF I COULD TAKE THAT.
like she would constantly be overshadowed by the four brothers because they are meant to have quirks and distinct personalities to show that they grew up to be cultivated a certain way.
Avery had none of that. She grew up normally, and has a very normal personality. She doesnât speak in riddles, or wear suits everyday, or singe her eyebrows off, or even have hardcore dedication to the cowboy aesthetic. She is just a girl who gets sucked into a world where everything is so foreign to her and sheâs just trying to make sense of it all. Even though she feels incredibly awkward she still does an amazing job as establishing herself as the heiress she is.
I love her because I see myself in her. She could blow up the houses of parliament and Iâd forgive her for it. But in the books there are certain moments where she acts insensitive and is ignorant of otherâs feelings. For example when she forgot Maxâs, her besties, birthday. And though in the books you see her grow and become more caring for those around her, a show wouldnât do justice to it. People wouldnât like her for it, and keep on not liking her for it.
The show would become just about the brothers, and whether you were Team Jameson or Team Grayson, and everyone would overlook Avery even though sheâs the MAIN CHARACTER AND ITS HER SHOW.
anyways, I LOVE LOVE LOVE AVERY AND EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD TOO.

ćœĄ STRESS RELIEVER. ⧠MIGUEL O'HARA
oneshot â„ you're struggling to keep your focus with the stress and miguel offers to ease that worry off you.

a/n. this is long overdue for someone who requested miguel to finger fuck reader as a stress relief. i aged reader and miguel to between 22-23 in this oneshot since they're college students. this fic is longer than intended but hey, we like to take it slow burn here.
Sometimes you contemplate why you put yourself in this kind of situation.Â
You were aware that you have exams coming up in the next few weeks. But you were focused on making sure that you got your assignments done before the deadline. So it was natural for you to prioritise those. You wish you had paid more attention to the dates because just when you thought that you would have more time to revise, you didnât. Leaving you with only three weeks until your exam. And now youâre struggling to get information into your head.Â
âFuck,â you mumble. The machine makes a soft drilling noise as it pours coffee into your mug. You rub your forehead with your hand as you wait for your drink to finish. Thinking about what topics you need to revise for the exam. Mentally planning how you would organise and plan yourself for another long session of studying. Itâs going to be another long night.
When your drink is ready, you stride your way to the dining table where all your notes and books are set. With not enough desk space you have in your room, the dining table has turned into your second desk to accommodate all the reading materials and your laptop to work on. You strap yourself in your seat, ready for another torturous session of studying for the finals.Â
All the caffeine from the coffee, tea and sugary energy drinks didnât last long in your system. At first, you feel the buzz of the caffeine that helps you go through two hours of reading and answering mock questions without a proper break. You feel yourself pushing through, feeling motivated that you can do this. But then, the effects wear off, and now youâre struggling through short video clips on your laptop after two hours into your study session.Â
Your mind battles. Reminding you about the consequences of you losing more time. But you canât be bothered at the moment. You are convincing yourself that you deserve a break from studying for fifteen minutes which turned into a two-hour rest and procrastination.Â
At this rate, you know that you won't get any studying done. Youâre going to have to face the consequences of that but you canât be bothered about it for now. Staring mindlessly at your laptop with headphones on as you watch a reality television adaption to pass the time.Â
âDios, youâre still here this late?âÂ
Your eyes look up from your laptop to find your roommate in the dining area. Miguel stands at the entrance in his black leather jacket, red shirt underneath and dark-coloured jeans. His black helmet rests on his left lip and it looks like heâs returned from wherever he went or did. You didnât realise that he wasnât in the house you both shared all this time. âWhen was the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror? You look shit.âÂ
âThanks, Captain Obvious.â You say. Your relationship with Miguel OâHara is rather tricky, to say the least. Sometimes, the two of you get along and have a decent conversation with each other about careers, and personal experiences and share similar interests. Though other times, itâs not necessary. Itâs mostly when he would bring people over to the house and then take one girl up to his room. Having to hear moans from the girls he fucked and Miguelâs growls and dirty talks.Â
It annoys you to no end, especially the one incident when you walked into the bathroom with him getting a blow job in the shower. Itâs still his fault for not locking the bathroom or even putting a sign on the door to say that heâs busy getting pleased. Â
Even after that, your subtle attraction for Miguel still resonates with you.Â
You realise your mug is empty, another drink that is supposed to keep you going has gone to waste in your system. You canât be bothered but you know that youâve wasted time not studying when youâre supposed to. So, you get up from your seat, walk into the kitchen and do the same routine that youâve done the past few weeks when youâre cramming for finals. Either make your coffee, or tea or grab an energy drink. The caffeine from the coffee is too much for you to handle at the moment and tea isnât strong enough for you. So you settle for an energy drink where itâs in between enough caffeine to maybe help you go through for another three hours for now.Â
âAre you thinking of studying again?â Miguel sounds a bit disbelieving, but not surprised. Heâs now in the kitchen with you as you take your energy drink of choice for the nightâor early morning. You donât want to look at the time âThereâs no point. Youâre not going to remember anything at this rate.â
âCan we just⊠not do this?â You warn, holding your hand up as a sign for him to stop talking. Stop creating conversations that would lead to an argument because you know it would happen. Especially with your emotions all over the place. Â
Miguel stares at you, his eyes roaming up and down. Not long after, his lips curl into a smirk. Leaning his side against the frame of the long, rectangular entrance arch. âYouâre stressed out. Miss Perfect finally breaks down for finals.â Â
A tired sigh escapes out of your mouth. You focus to proceed on opening up the can, hearing its fizziness before pouring it into your mug. âYou could say that.âÂ
The kitchen falls into silence. What he says is certainly true and you feel that you brought this on yourself. You were off-tracked with your assignments and didnât check the right exam dates. Itâs an error on your part but you are trying to do your best to make it through another year of college without failing. At this point, youâre willing to accept a passing grade just to make it to another year. Â
âIâll study and keep you company,â Miguel declares. âOnly to make sure you stay focused and get on track. No more messing around. Got that?âÂ
You blink, unprepared for his words. Youâre not sure why heâs doing this to you but what he said made a rush of warmth fill your chest. Despite his words, you guess that he thinks itâs better to have someone to study with rather than doing it alone. But you donât ask Miguel if thatâs his intention, in case he decides to rethink his offer.
âThank you.âÂ
Miguel unfolds his arms and lets it drop to his sides. His hands are in his pockets as heâs about to leave, but then he looks over his shoulder to you. âAnd also; nadie bebe su bebida energĂ©tica de una taza.â He says before disappearing elsewhere.Â
You blink and look down at the mug in your hand, guessing that Miguel is talking about how energy drinks are meant to drink from their can, and not from a mug.Â
* * * * *Â
You did manage to push yourself for another two hours before you came crashing again.Â
âI canât focus on anything else right now. My mind has gone blank.â You sigh, slumping on your seat. Thatâs another study session that failed.
âHm,â Miguel responds. Focusing on his study materials. âI think youâve studied too much. Thatâs why youâre burned out.âÂ
There is some truth to his words. You have been pushing yourself to the bone for this exam and now your mind is haywired. Everything feels numbing in your head. The feelings of exhaustion, guilt and unbotheredness are jumbled in you.Â
âIâm just really stressed out. I want to do well on this exam but my brain just⊠canât grasp anything that Iâve studied.â You say, sounding a little disheartened. âI canât focus, I canât concentrate.âÂ
Miguel couldnât help but glance at you. Taking in the way youâre slumped in your seat and how hollow your eyes are, filled with fatigue and emptiness. You look stressed out. He wonders when was the last time you had rest â a proper break. Not the stupid Pomodoro breaks where you take five to ten minutes of break time before getting back to studying.Â
He wonders when was the last time you had taken care of yourself?Â
Miguel turns his attention to you when he hears you close one of your heavy books. You let out a sigh, âI canât even relax without being so much on edge. Fuck.âÂ
He thinks youâre right as he sees the way your body tenses in stress and anxiety. Miguelâs expression stays unfazed though he does feel sympathy seeing you in such a state. âHey, you should get some rest. Go to bed early or something.âÂ
âI will after I attempt to get this lesson done. Then, Iâll go to bed.âÂ
Miguel gives you a solemn look. Your determination is one of the things he admires about you. Your willingness to do whatever it takes to get your points across. It made you endearing in his eyes. But at the moment, itâs making you look stubborn and somewhat prideful. The last thing you need is a bad experience of burnout before your exam, and he knows that you know this as well deep down.
âLet me help you to relax,âÂ
âHuh?â You shoot him a confused look. As if heâs said something unusual to you. âHelp me⊠relax? How do you plan on doing that?âÂ
Miguel nods, âYou are tensed up and youâre not getting anything remembered in your head. Your mind canât focus.â Â
You raise a brow at him, unsure where your roommate is coming from. Miguel is right, you do need to take a proper break since your productivity is rather counterproductive. But his words still puzzle you about how he can help you relax. âAnd how do you plan on doing that, exactly?â You ask curiously. âWhat do you do to relax when youâre stressed out?âÂ
âYou know, go to the gym. Take a walk, drive around.â Miguel says it casually. âSometimes masturbating helps to wire your brain to relax.â
You stare at your roommate before burying your face in your hands with a groan. Not only is the suggestion embarrassing but you have to imagine Miguel playing with himself. How his hands would stroke his cock, hot and pulsing in the palm of his hands. Envisioning the grunted breaths and deep groans he makes. It isnât as if you havenât done that to yourself either, pleasuring yourself. Youâve done that on the nights where you could hear the headboard of his bed from his room moving as the girl Miguel brought for the night kept moaning.Â
You shake your head, dismissing the thoughts immediately. Or try to. âIâm not in the right mindset to do that.âÂ
Miguel raises an eyebrow. âIâm not saying you should do it. Iâm offering to do it. Itâs on the table for you.âÂ
âWhat?â You stare at him in shock and confusion. You think you heard him wrong but from the unfazed look on his face, you know that he is serious about this. Serious about giving you an orgasm, or maybe multiple orgasms. Because you know from the women and girls he brings over to fuck, Miguel has them moaning more than three times.Â
When you open up your mouth, you can hear yourself stammering your words. The thought of it is disgusting but at the same time, arouses you. âMiguel, IââÂ
âDo you trust me?â He asks, his red eyes piercing into yours. Captivating you to stop talking. To stop denying the offer of pleasure. You give Miguel a look of uncertainty, unsure how to respond to his offer.
âWhatâs it gonna be?â Miguel asks. The corner of his mouth curves up to a tiny smirk. âNo pressure, chica. I want you to think about it and let me know if youâre up for it or not.âÂ
Miguel goes back to reading his study notes with a neutral expression as if the conversation didnât happen. He doesnât look at you and the silence in the room speaks volumes. Leaving you to think about the offer. Youâre not sure why he is even offering himself to give you pleasure. Miguel is your friend, for goodness sake. The guy is out of your league and he has been with other people, you know this. Is he doing this out of pity or could there be more to it?Â
The two of you have lived together for three years of schooling, and have known each other for that long. He doesnât give you attention in a lustful way or lustful like he does with other girls; the kind of interest in starting a sexual relationship with you. Itâs a blessing in disguise yet at the same time, you want a connection more than just being his friend.Â
You have a crush on Miguel but he doesnât seem the type of guy who isnât ready to commit to one person just yet. Especially when youâre both still young and exploring life ahead. Â
âOkay,â you closed your book with a thud. You catch his eyes when you fully turn to talk to him. This idea is already as insane as it is, but youâre desperate to stop feeling like a lost cause about your exam. You just want to forget about your test for a few minutes. Maybe a couple of hours at most. âIâll take up on your offer. What Iâve been doing is not working, and I need some sort of break before I go insane.âÂ
Miguel grins and then puts his reading materials away. You always think that he looks so handsome when he smiles. âWell then. Move your books and laptop aside and sit on the table for me.â Miguel looks at you when you stare at him. âIt will be a lot nicer like that, trust me.â He adds.Â
âOkay, Iâll get my stuff out of the way.â You say and begin picking up your books and laptop. Miguel does the same, putting his things away, then turns his attention to look at you.Â
Youâre sitting on the edge of the table, waiting for his next words. The beating of your heart thumping is the only thing you can hear as you watch Miguel. He stands in front of you in between your thighs. Tall, built and handsome. His red eyes look down on you as they shine under the lights in the dining area.Â
You feel his hands on the sides of your waistband shorts, his fingers brushing against your clothed skin and hips. âMay I?â Miguel asks as he looks at you.Â
âSure,â you say. Youâre not one to be nervous around easily but your roommate seems to have that effect on you. When you lift your hips slightly, Miguel curls his fingers on the waistband and pulls down your shorts. Discarding your clothed item you notice that heâs taken off your panties too. âMiguelââÂ
His stare made you pause, his red piercing eyes keep you quiet. Youâve always known what Miguelâs eyes are like but in this moment of what youâre letting him do to you, it stirs feelings in you. The gaze in his eyes is fiery in desire; so focused and enraptured. He looks at you in silence â keeping his eyes on you â as he slowly pulls down everything and discards it somewhere in the room.Â
âOpen your legs a little for me, pretty,â Miguel tells you. âYes, thatâs it.âÂ
The heat on your cheeks burns you as your heart thumps in your chest at how intimate and vulnerable the situation looks. Never in your dreams you would be in this situation, much less doing it with Miguel OâHara.
âItâs not too late to change your mind and tell me no.â He says. Standing between your legs, his calloused fingers on your inner right thigh. âI wonât hate you for it.âÂ
Your breathing is soft and steady. âShouldnât you have asked me that before you took my panties off?â You chuckled with a small smile. You feel a little more relaxed about what you and he are starting.Â
Miguel grins, âI probably should have.â His expression becomes serious. âIâll start slow.âÂ
You watch as he puts two fingers in his mouth with a gentle suck. When he pulls them out, his digits are glistened wet under the lights. Lubricated and wet against his tan skin. Miguel catches you dazing at him, his intense expression stays on you, as he brings his fingers between your thighs. They find themselves between your flaps, tracing your inner folds with his fingertips.Â
âYouâre already wet before I touch you.â Miguel hums in approval. âThatâs good.âÂ
His fingers move slowly like he promised. You feel him gather your sleek arousal with a gentle swipe of his thumb and move up to the hood of your cunt. You moan softly when you feel Miguel play with your clit, circling and putting just the right pressure that has you tingling in sensation. Your hands grip on the edge of the table as you brace yourself.Â
âGosh, that feels nice.â You sigh. Your eyes are closed, indulging in the pleasure, finding your body relaxed and mind in tranquillity. Focusing on feeling his fingers touch and tease your folds and clit. Maybe this is what you truly need for a break from intense studying.Â
âI like the look on your face,â Miguel tells you. You can picture the smirk from the tone of his voice. âThis is just the beginning of your stress relief.âÂ
You didnât get to open your eyes and ask him what he meant when you felt something push inside your cunt. Your walls are wet and warm, feeling one of Miguelâs digits sliding into your pussy with ease. It has you gasping and moaning softly, your back arches and hands gripping tightly onto the table edge. Miguel has his index finger in you and he slips in his middle finger, stretching your pussy open. His thumb is still circling your clit as his fingers thrust in and out of you.Â
âStay still, bonita.â His voice deeps, almost growling. âAnd donât think. Just focus on the feeling of my fingers. Relax for me.âÂ
You canât help but tighten around his fingers from the command. Hoping that he didnât feel the way your clit throbs from his command. You never heard him speak like that before â maybe not to you â but it sounds hot. All you could focus on is the way his fingers rub and massage your pussy.Â
You can tell that Miguel is certainly experienced with the way he can tease your vulva and play with your clit, letting your breathless sighs and moans guide him. Itâs completely easy to forget about anything else but being finger fuck by the guy you liked.Â
âOh, oh.â You softly moan, putting the heels of your feet on the edge of the table. Your hands clutch onto his forearms as Miguel fingers you. It has your head spinning with the way he alternates between fingering and rubbing your slick folds. The pace is not fast or slow-- just perfect, as it eases you off and you forget about what you're stressed about in the first place.Â
And when he pushes his fingers into your pussy, it has you tilting your head back in ecstasy, moaning his name, as you feel him going deeper.
"So tight around my fingers. You definitely need this." Miguel smirks, his breath warms your neck. âNeed a good stretch, donât you, bonita?âÂ
You groan as you feel him continuously plunge his digits in and out of you. Miguel doesnât stick to one way to pleasure you; he would rub your wet folds, flicker your clit up and down and sideways with his thumb, and circle your little pearl. At the corner of your eye, you see the corner of his mouth curve up in a smirk when clutching onto his forearms for dear life.Â
âMiguel,â you mewl. The knot in your lower belly tightens when he plunges his whole fingers into your slick pussy, thrusting them in and out. Your body moves in a sudden, forward thrust when Miguel continues to come hither inside your pussy, having his fingers rubbing your G-spot. He doesnât stop to flicker and circle your throbbing clit and a sultry gasp catches in your throat as your thighs begin to quiver. âOh, fuck!âÂ
âThatâs it, beautiful. Oh, you really do need this, donât you?â Miguel asks almost mockingly. You arch your back in his embrace and let out another moan, feeling his two fingers flicking inside your pussy walls. He knows exactly what heâs doing, drawing out more noises from you as your lower body still trembles, and your cum spilling out of your folds and onto his fingers.Â
It feels as if Miguel is toying with you and pussy for a long time, even after being overstimulated and sensitive. He slows down his ministrant but still has his fingers gently rubbing circles on your clit and wet folds. You relax in his arm, head on his shoulder as you regain your senses from orgasm. All thoughts cleared up in your head and you couldnât even remember what you were thinking or doing earlier before being finger-fucked.Â
Miguelâs voice sounds a little raspy and distinct, still toying with your cunt, as he whispers: âWanna continue this elsewhere?âÂ

Do you know if Riddle, or Tray, ever stands up to his mother? I think i saw it in a Pinterest post once of teen Riddle being slapped by his mom and Tray taking him away.
His background is sadder than Shoto Todoroki from BNHA
We donât really get to hear about how things are going back home with Mrs. Rosehearts outside of one brief instance. In 4-3, Riddle is leaving for winter break and mentions he intends on speaking with his mother, though he isnât optimistic about her listening.
Trey states in the same part of the story that he isnât allowed at Riddleâs house (because Mrs. Rosehearts has banned him). However, Riddle is still invited to visit him and Chenya at the Clover family bakery (though itâs very unlikely Riddle would be able to, since he hasnât canonically seen Chenya again since the unbirthday party of book 1).
We never get a follow-up on how the conversation between Riddle and his mother went. Itâs never touched upon again, and his mom isnât really brought up beyond this case. (I did happen to write a short piece about Trey, Riddle, and Mrs. Rosehearts interacting though, if you were interested in seeing my own interpretation of this idea.)
Riddle spends most of his time at NRC since itâs a boarding school, meaning there are few opportunities for him to directly interact with his mother. Even if Mrs. Rosehearts were readily accessible to him, I highly doubt we would get to witness Riddle or Trey doing much to talk back to her. As we see in book 4, Riddle is still quite meek and uncertain when it comes to speaking with his mom. Trey, meanwhile, is generally very non-confrontational and may still be dealing with his own complicated feelings about interfering with what are family matters. (Recall that the last time he encouraged Riddle to be adventurous, it resulted in his friend being severely punished and Trey may harbor guilt over this occurrence.) I feel that neither of them would realistically develop the courage to talk back to Mrs. Rosehearts when only like half a year has passed since Riddleâs OB incident as opposed to like seventeen years of Riddle living under her rules.
***CONTENT WARNING: I will be discussing abuse at length under the cut, so please be advised to avoid reading further if the topic makes you uncomfortable.***
Regarding the comic you saw on Pinterest, it is fan art. That is in no way canonical; Mrs. Rosehearts may be very stern and have a temper, but she has never slapped or otherwise put a hand on Riddle. The closest thing we get to a slap is this panel from the manga adaptation, which isnât even a slap. You can tell from the movement lines and the FWP sfx that Mrs. Rosehearts is just quickly pulling her arm away since Riddle is trying to latch onto it in an attempt to get her to listen to his protests. There is also no mark on Riddle or harsh slap sfx to indicate contact was made.
Now then đŠ There's something very serious and relevant to this ask I'd actually like to discuss, so I hope you'll stick around to hear me out on this.
I know none of us really like Mrs. Rosehearts (which is fair, she has done a lot of terrible things to her son). However, I think it's dangerous for us to speak about her as though she's a total monster and nothing more than a monster. I'm NOT going to stand here and advocate that she has done nothing wrong (she definitely has committed many wrongs). What I'm saying is that I don't agree with her being treated like "just" an abuser.
Let's say we do demonize Mrs. Rosehearts. We see only her negative traits and allow those to define her entire character. This creates a scenario in which she is alienated and dehumanized, left as a caricature of a woman that is solely known for hurting her child. But the thing is, this ISNâT how abuse really works. Few abusers are completely wicked people through and through. Part of the reason why it is so difficult for victims to leave their abusers is because abusers almost never start off abusive. They usually act totally normal, and the abuse often doesnât come until later or specific situations arise. It creeps up on you in an almost insidious manner, and you donât expect it coming. Iâd also like to mention that abusers often donât act with the intentional thought of, âYeah, what Iâm doing/saying is abusiveâ. Abusers typically justify their actions or convince themselves they are acting out of goodness. They donât do bad things âbecause theyâre bad peopleâ, they do bad things because they think theyâre GOOD people. Some abusers may even be victims themselves.
By painting abusers (even fictional ones) as cartoonishly evil, irredeemable, or always cruel, it makes it harder for us to believe the very real danger that we, whom we see as âgoodâ people, could become âbadâ ourselves. It makes it harder to believe victims when they report abuse because âoh, the abuse isnât THAT badâ. It erases the idea that abusers are also human, and that humans have the capacity to be awful sometimes or to perpetuate hurt. It makes it so much harder to identify abuse because weâd only be looking for the most extreme examples of it rather than noticing the small, subtle signs. By âotheringâ abusers, itâs inadvertently denying so many nuances of abuse... which ultimately is counterproductive.
I would like to point out that even in the example provided of another abusive parent, Endeavor is portrayed with some nuance. He physically and verbally abused his wife, neglected the children he deemed worthless, and pushed the child he deemed to be his successor to the brink. However, Endeavor is also shown to remember a detail as small as his (arranged) wifeâs favorite flower when she only told him about it once. He is notably much more lenient when training his first son, who didnât have the ideal Quirk he sought. Endeavor at one point even confesses to pursuing being a hero in order to avoid the demands of fatherhood, which demonstrates a realistic insecurity and vulnerability⊠his humanity.
The same could be true for Mrs. Rosehearts. We only assume he is âjust an abuserïżœïżœïżœ because we see her in such a limited scope. There are valid reasons to believe why she is a âgoodâ person outside of how we see her acting in Riddleâs recollections, and this may help to explain why Riddle feels so hesitant to âstand upâ to her. I would really recommend reading this post, which goes a lot more in-depth about the complications surrounding Riddleâs relationship with his mother. Again, I am in NO WAY defending Mrs. Rosehearts; I am only pointing out that abusersâno matter how horrible their actionsâhave identities beyond the label of âabuserâ that should be acknowledged.

hello! I hope things are well with you đ if itâs possible, I would love to hear your thoughts on Neptune in the 3rd house :)
Hello love! I have been slightly busy these days, but everything is fine. I would love to give you my takes on this placement. đ
Neptune in the 3rd house
Talking to them is a unique thing, they have very deep perspectives on life, wonderful ideas capable of surprising many and the ability to see beyond the things, people and circumstances that occur around them. Naturally poetic, they dislike things that are too simple and for them a soul-touching pinch is necessary in everything that enters their minds [books, movies, music, videos, etc]. Their words can easily move the audience, there is an ethereal and touching beauty in their way of speaking. Captivating speakers even without intending to. They are an interesting and valuable mystery to discover, and I define them as a mystery because they do not usually share their ideas or thoughts with anyone, since they border on the introverted and reserved side, or in some cases even shy. They may have a great interest and knack for some branch of art, especially that which includes communicating ideas or feelings, being very effective in doing so. Many of them may doubt their abilities and also their intelligence or ability. They may be very interested in obtaining all kinds of knowledge, especially about topics that people do not dare to investigate, spiritual topics or topics that make them know themselves better on a deeper level.
In these people lies the wound of not feeling heard by their close circle, of feeling that for others what they had to say was not important, which made them close down. Within them there is a mind full of amazing ideas, an outstanding creativity that allows them to find many solutions and see things from different perspectives. They tend to be frequently distracted by the tendency to want to do several things at the same time. Daydream tendency regarding doing things they want to do or what their ideal life would be like. They may prefer deep conversations over small talk. However, these people stand out for being amazing counselors, this is due to their empathy, which makes them not advise from the point of view of what they would do, but rather what they would do if they were and lived in the context of the person. who comes to them. They have the quality of making others feel heard and understood, making conversations with them feel comfortable and natural, even if it is the first time you speak to them.
They may have difficulty following very demanding schedules or routines, preferring to do things at their own pace. They are more likely to be easily distracted and change the subject quickly. Their mind is intuitive, their sixth sense is rarely wrong, as they are excellent when it comes to reading and understanding everything around them, having the ability to read between the lines and detect all kinds of discrepancies. They adapt very easily to their environment and it is extremely difficult to lie to them. If you're not part of their inner circle or if they don't trust you yet, you'll suddenly have that epiphany: they know so much about you while you seem to know little about what lies within them. They are people with multiple interests, a curious and creative mind that leads them to dream big. Great minds that can doubt their own potential, the value of their thoughts and words even when beauty and uniqueness can be found in them. People with compassion and an ability to understand things that perhaps others are not ready to understand. They have the feeling of not finding the right words to explain what is happening inside them. Their heart can often guide their minds. The human quality in them is something that makes them beautiful beings with whom to cross paths, always leaving teachings and words that remain marked in the core of those who know them.

i'll be interested to see if this holds true for WOT s3 since the s1 finale had so many extenuating circumstances and can't really be included in the comparison, but based off of the s2 finale, i believe that season finales tend to bear the brunt of "It's Different From The Books!" ire because they are the culmination of all the smaller changes made throughout the season.
this turned into a bigger analysis post than i expected lmao par for the course with my blog! read on for exploration of how the 2x08 conclusion of each season-long arc is the the most emotionally satisfying conclusion and/or the most thematically appropriate conclusion possible based on the show's particular version of the story, plus a bonus tangent on the nature of adaptation.
for a finale episode, the writers' prime concern 100% has to be "wrapping up all the season's arcs in a way that feels satisfying with everything that's happened in the first 7 episodes, using the book version of the finale event as the framework" rather than "recreating the book version of the finale event exactly as it is with all the same scenes and themes". the nature of storytelling inherently means that every single person who tells the same story will focus on different themes (just think of how many versions of the hades & persephone story there are), and a good adaptation knows that being internally consistent with its own Emphasized Themes is more important than copying-and-pasting scenes from the source material without making any changes to account for the specific way this adaptation is telling the story.
(but a lot of people can't even get past this first point because they don't understand that this is how adaptations - how storytelling in general - work. like, person B literally cannot tell the exact same story that person A told without putting their own spin on it. it's not possible! unless they're simply reading out the exact words that person A wrote, which can't be done when putting 14 massive books into maximum 64 hours of tv. so many readers like to meet this point with "but why does the books' version of the story need to be changed at all?" which is just a non-starter because a) medium differences require a ton of changes, and b) even if no changes were *required*, they would happen anyway because that is human nature when it comes to storytelling. when it comes to story-listening too! ask a hundred different book fans what WOT is about and you'll get a hundred different answers. rafe & co can't possibly make an adaptation that captures every single reader's idea of What WOT Is About, and nobody in the world could ever re-tell the story of WOT in the exact same way that RJ told it, not even the most die-hard book fan; all rafe & co can do is focus on making sure the show honors the core of the books' story while also telling a good story in its own right, independent of the source material.)
i was a classics major, okay? it gets to me! anyway, corralling myself back on topic.
for 2x08, it's very telling just how far Minority Reader Opinion deviates from the general audience opinion. general audiences fucking LOVED this episode (it's the highest-rated on imdb out of the entire show, currently at a 9.0; most episodes are in the 7-8 range), but a bunch of readers call it disappointing and one of the worst episodes of the show. if it was actually a poor quality episode of television, the general audience ratings would reflect that too (as they do for 1x08, currently at a 6.4 (i personally think 1x08 gets way more hate than is deserved and i thoroughly enjoy that episode, but i accept that's just me)), but they don't.
so what does that mean? to me, it means that 2x08 is objectively a very good episode of television which general audiences found satisfying, but which some readers disliked because it prioritized the emotional & thematic needs of its own version of the story over the exact nature of the falme events in the source material. which is exactly what a good adaptation should do! if you forget the books and just look at the show (which the vast majority of viewers are doing), then every resolution that happens in 2x08 is the most satisfying resolution possible and/or the only resolution that was thematically permitted for that particular season storyline.
egwene: her season arc was about learning to stand on her own two feet and not cling onto her mentor figures or compare herself unfavorably to others. thus, her freeing herself from the a'dam is the most satisfying possible conclusion to her season arc. nynaeve and elayne freeing her in the books is nice, but in the show version, thematically, it would've undercut egwene's Overcoming Impostor Syndrome arc to go "yeah actually it's true that she's not good enough on her own and when it comes down to it she does always need nynaeve to help her out". that version worked in TGH where she didn't have an Overcming Impostor Syndrome arc, but it wouldn't have worked in the show where she did. (but, yes, egwene learning in 2x08 that she doesn't have to rely on others is a double-edged sword, which nicely sets up her later-series struggles with trying to shoulder too much herself and not letting even her friends or partner help her.)
rand: his season arc was about learning to lean on others and not isolate himself or try to protect his friends by withholding his burdens from them. thus, him failing to defeat ishamael until all his friends come to lend aid in various ways is the most satisfying possible conclusion to his season arc. rand defeating ishy singlehandedly in the books is nice, but in the show version, thematically, it would've undercut his Learning That Strength Is In Numbers arc to go "yeah actually it's true that rand is capable of winning his biggest battles all by himself and thus it's no problem for him to push his friends away". given the themes that s2 emphasized for rand, the only appropriate finale outcomes were either success with his friends' help or total failure on his own, and they chose the former. (that being said, rand pushing his friends away is a continuous issue for him throughout the series, so i doubt he's perfectly learned his lesson after 2x08; we shall see!)
interesting to note that rand and egwene have inverse arcs in a way (foils!) and that some elements of their book falme climaxes were swapped, and that the way the show has done it subverts the expected gender roles. typically, men are expected to be Lone Wolves and women to be Team Players, and the WOT books absolutely play into these stereotypes throughout the series (sometimes intentionally as social commentary, sometimes unconsciously as an accepted truth of the world), but 2x08 and s2 more broadly did the opposite with our yin-and-yang co-protagonists. it's egwene who has the arc about learning to be a Lone Wolf and rand who has the arc about learning to be a Team Player. and imo these subconscious gender role expectations are a part of why some readers (esp reddit) got SO heated about "how come egwene can succeed by herself but rand can't", because it feels Wrong to them and Not How Things Are Supposed To Work (they've never questioned why rand can succeed by himself but egwene needs her friends' help in TGH, or all the other times in the books when men succeed by themselves and women succeed by relying on each other). but it's a totally apples-to-oranges comparison because egwene and rand had totally different season arcs and focal themes (but many paralleling & foiling moments within that), and so they each get a conclusion tailor-made to their individual stories.
mat: his season arc was about realizing he's a good, worthy person, finding the inner strength to overcome his worst impulses and temptations, and coming through for his friends after leaving them at the waygate. thus, him getting his Big Damn Hero moment with the horn of valere, getting validation that he is literally a hero, and overall spending the episode doing all he can to support his friends is the most satisfying possible conclusion to his season arc. (but stabbing his bff just as he was flying on a confidence high and trying to save the day was a downer note to end on, so we've complicated his relationship with heroism and set up some more internal issues for him to wrestle with next season.)
perrin: his season arc was about learning to acknowledge his inner wolf but also coming to regard it with fear and to believe that wolf & human sides can't coexist and he must Choose One (.......suddenly being struck by the bisexuality metaphor of it all. nice!) thus, him giving into violence to murder a human to avenge a wolf is.....well, it's pretty upsetting for him and serves to reinforce his growing belief that his two sides can't coexist, but thematically, it's fascinating and sets him up for some really great internal (and external) conflicts in s3. he's just gotten what he thinks is pretty strong evidence to corroborate ishy's claim that embracing his wolf side means embracing the shadow, so he's set up for a season 3 of deep-diving into his relationship with violence and his inner wolf. it's also a neat parallel with 1x08: there perrin's avoidance of violence allowed fain to escape, whereas here his embracing of violence has traumatized him (again), so our poor guy is really feeling conflicted in the pacificism-or-violence question because both sides seem wrong to him right now. huh, i guess perrin's full-series arc is about finding a middle ground rather than one extreme (pacifism/tuatha'an/human) or the other (violence/aiel/wolf). i feel like i've just had an epiphany lmao this is why i love the show! it tells the same story as the books, but tells it in a different way that makes me think about it differently and gain new insights!
nynaeve: her season arc was about learning that she, on her own, as she is today, is not enough to protect her loved ones. this is a tough pill for both her and the audience to swallow! but it's needed for her character, and we see it in the books too. nynaeve has an incredible amount of power, but she's terrified of having that much power and wants to pretend it doesn't exist. she's resistant to change, she's used to being in charge, and she's very "my way or the highway". these are all things she needs to grow out of (or moderate, at least) in order to be able to step up and do her part for tarmon gai'don. she has to learn how to embrace her power instead of being afraid of it or being too stubborn to let other people guide her and teach her, so s2 shows her what happens if she doesn't, first hypothetically in the accepted test (everyone she loves dies because she's blocked and refused channeling training) and then for real in falme (she couldn't help elayne fully or rand at all because of her block). so her 2x08 conclusion being Total Failure is not emotionally satisfying, no, but it's thematically exactly what she needed and will goad her into facing her block head-on next season. thematically, like rand, nynaeve only had 2 options for falme: break her block and succeed, or retain her block and fail, and it was too soon for the former (we gotta let her cook a while longer, plus the story will become too easy if nynaeve, or rand, reaches supernova capability too soon), so it had to be the latter. if the show had gone with a third option of her succeeding without breaking her block, then that would've taught her and the audience that it's fine to leave the block in place and she doesn't need to challenge herself to grow as a person, because when it TRULY matters she can always get around the block.
other characters get appropriate resolutions too! moiraine and lan get to work together to succeed after being at odds and failing on their own all season (rand foils!). elayne gets validation that she is an essential and trusted part of the friend group after feeling like somewhat of an outsider earlier in the season. ishamael getting vanquished and lanfear betraying him only to be betrayed by him in turn is exactly where their mutual mistrust was leading them (and it shows us why it's so important that Team Light be able to work as a team rather than as self-interested individual operators; the contrast between ishy & lanfear looking at the seals together while plotting to betray each other vs. rand standing on the tower with all his friends behind him makes me cry your honor. imagine hating that ishy's defeat was a team effort, could not be me!)
(it's also worth noting that the characters who had the least individual success/victory in 2x08 (nynaeve, rand, perrin) are the ones who will have the biggest individual storylines in s3 (tanchico & moggy, waste arc, two rivers arc), whereas the characters who had the most individual success/victory (egwene, mat, moiraine, lan) are the ones who will be taking a bit more of a backseat (of course they all have their own stuff to do, but none of them is *the* lead character of their TSR/s3 traveling group). this is intentional!)
so there you have it. 2x08 is adored by the general audience, and it's because of this: it gives us some damn satisfying conclusions to all the season arcs (and some exciting and visually stunning battle sequences to boot), and all the viewers who AREN'T beleaguered by "But The Books!", which is most of them, recognize that for the good storytelling it is. i for one will always care far more about the show telling a good story within itself than the show being identical to the books, and rafe & co will too, as they should.
the only downside to the episode is that, yes, it is quite cramped for time because there are a lot of arcs to wrap up. this should be less of an issue in future seasons when the season finale isn't "every single major storyline converges in the same place at once". for example, judging by the "goldeneyes" episode title it seems s3 might split it up so that perrin's conclusion in the two rivers is in 3x07 while other conclusions in other locations are in 3x08, giving each more breathing room. whereas 2x08 had no choice but to stuff everything in that episode into that specific episode because it's not like perrin could just do his falme stuff an episode early and take a nap while everyone else was doing THEIR falme stuff in the next episode, nor could the full falme sequence have been split into 2 episodes since that would have disrupted the flow of the story. the only solution would be for 2x08 to be extra long, which is nice to imagine, but we all know that streaming shows almost never deviate from their set episode lengths and so there isn't much point sighing about "this episode should have been 90 minutes long!" because that just is not on the table, never has been, and never will be. the first step to being able to jive with an adaptation is making peace with the limits of its particular medium!
plus, the only things i might deem "missing" from 2x08 are non-essential (ingtar darkfriend reveal - that is NOT important fight me, it's only important in the books as our first example of a morally-gray shadow-aligned person but the show has already been doing that in spades) or will likely be included in 3x01 (the gang spending some time together to breathe and process and catch up). at the end of the day, the show is always going to need to be paced very very tightly with not as much breathing room as those of us accustomed to entire books dedicated to reacting to the previous book might expect. and 2x08 did manage to pack in a LOT of character work amidst all the action and did a good mix of resolving s2 arcs while leaving some unresolved to carry into s3 and introducing some new arcs/issues/conflicts, all within 70 minutes, which i find pretty impressive. in conclusion, 2x08 my fucking beloved <3
#saw some people discussing 2x08 in light of the wheel takes episode about it#i've never listened to that podcast because my brain doesn't function with podcasts#but seeing it mentioned got me thinking about 2x08 and how much i love it!#book fandom's hatred of that episode is my villain origin story it is genuinely SUCH a banger on so many fronts#character work themes stunts action adrenaline acting sets costumes music cinematography EVERYTHING is at the top of its game#i'm glad that general audiences give it the love it deserves#general audiences are way better judges of the objective quality of the show than readers are#wot#wot on prime#wot book spoilers#just for some vague mentions of future storylines & character arcs

Ëâ§ââșËł sfw alhaitham boyfriend headcanons
some sweet boyfriend hcs about the scribe since heâs finally getting released, enjoy everyone à«źê°àŸàœČ ÂŽ Ë ` ïżœïżœïżœàŸàœČá
ê° a/n ê± â some instances in this are inspired by a couple hcs i have written about him in the past!
ê° genre ê± â fluff, gn! reader
+ Ë matching rings
for alhaitham, having a sense of bond with his significant other aside from anâ already exceptional, emotional connection, didnât seem like an item he wouldâve spend nor waste any time on.
though a while later, after one day when he had sauntered through the midst of sumeru city, his eyes had suddenly caught a glimpse of a glowing jewel on a small table, being sold by a vendor from another nation.
it wasnât until later when he realised that the ring had a little stone embedded into it which held onto your most favorable color, next to it a larger version of the same product, a little different, but still carrying on the same intensity of beauty.
in the end he decided to buy it for you both, there wasnât a specific day or a special occasion that alhaitham had waited for to gift you his little present.
in reality he one day, brought the small gift with him to meet you, at last showing it to you in his large hand, the glow of the radiant stone on top of the golden frame had taken in the grand total of your pure attention.
he was well aware that you liked it, it was clearly written all over your sweet expression, how your eyes had widened in mere seconds, fixed with a certain luminosity of being so utterly grateful to him.
slowly, he rolled the ring on its desired destination and it fit you perfectly, of course it did.
after all, it was him who had your love, had fully acquired it and if he would remember and dwell back on it, alhaitham surely didnât regret buying the little gold since it was now an element part of his love for you, you who was his priceless possession.
+ Ë slow, lazy make out sessions and his love
with the freedom he had obtained due to his job as the akademiyaâs scribe, alhaitham could gather enough spare time for you both to share with each other.
the comfort he sought after a long day was forthwith found in your arms with his head snugly leaning into your warm chest, listlessly paying attention to the low thumps of your heart.
although the two of you would engage in conversation at first, carelessly rattling onto numerous topics that just so happened over the past few hours, it'd aways end with you both getting closer.
for some unexplained reason, alhaitham tried to justify the comfort that consumed him whenever his lips would touch yours. It might have to do something with the dopamine releasing in him, with it setting free euphoric sensations in both his body and soul.
you were so sweet, so soft and squishy when your breathing went a tone lower, worldly wise and at a standstill, you were both relaxing under your touches, the romantic atmosphere that gnawed itself into the air, your surroundings adapting a fire as he gently took your chin in between his thumb and pointer finger, drawing you close just a bit more, a little.
there was no doubt that you have greatly helped him improve in the relationship department, not only with you sharing an intimate, romantic connection but as well as when it came to friendships in its complete glory, to illustrate further as indicated with his colleagues of the sumeru akademiya.
in this moment, you do not speak, neither of you.
it's those nanoseconds where alhaitham would be plagued by words or letters he wouldn't be the best person to speak them out loud, though in his mind, they ran freely and in tandem with his feelings.
i need you by my side, all eternity, i am better because of you, i love you unconditionally, all of you.
+ Ë reading to you while cuddling
alhaitham had always preferred to stay in with you, to keep a low profile, in a finer way dedicating his time to you.
obviously, some of the books he had stored away in his home could become quite difficult for you to read and although sometimesâ alhaitham would explain them to you in great detail, you will not understand a single syllable that was escaping that pretty mouth of his.
yet he was still trying for you and archons:
the way his bright eyes would carefully ghost over each page in concentration, or how he deciphered every definition in his brain, individually breaching out one and all meanings to gather the right one or how he was easily deducting the words with his cleverness.
to say he was cute while being surrounded by his thoughts was an understatement.
yes, it was apparent that as a result of some of the topics he'd try to make you understand, you'd end up falling asleep on top of him, more often than you'd actually prefer to do so.
It's not like you wanted to, also you didn't want alhaitham to feel like he was boring you to death because in truth it wasn't him who didâ but the overly tedious subjects at hand specific books would display.
at this, he wouldn't fault you, at all.
meanwhile he had already pleasingly tucked a blanket over your resting frame, gently making sure you were extra comfortable while moving his body only as little as possible so he wouldn't accidentally stir you off your precious slumber.
as for how this day would end, well, alhaitham would continue to page through his book before at last, placing it onto the nightstand, dimming the lights before encircling you in his broad arms, compassionately positioning his head on top of yours and drifting off to a silent, secured doze next to you.
+ Ë conclusion and alhaithamâs ways of handling arguments
befitting of his character, alhaitham could become quite difficult to deal with when it came to arguments that would occur just as much as in any other relationship.
it was bound to happen and to him, it was mind numbing.
seldomly he would actively engage in an argument, which wasn't always the best route to take because it was important for both parties in a relationship to be open about their corresponding feelings and emotions.
deep trust was what had defined your relationship, since it was one, if not the most important factor. He was a great listener and once the situation had been properly calmed down alhaitham would appear to go through great lengths to make whatever seemed to had happened, right again.
however, he was quite uncomfortable whenever he witnessed you cry, unmistakably it wasn't in a belittling kind of way, rather did it too, push him into a soul destroying current, masticating him from the inside out.
it was a learning process, a wholly overtaxing one at that, but he did not seek perfection of you and neither did you.
to put it into a different perspective, in the end alhaithamâ though it may not always seem this way, did whatever it required for you to be happy again.
he belonged to you just as much as you belonged to him and he wanted, more so desired, to keep it that exact way.
to live a peaceful, tranquil life with his soulmate was something he, no matter what, fancied.
on top of that, he'd make it his top priority to be unconditionally transparent with you, not daring to hide any aspects of his life with you in order for this to work out until the very end.

Watching/playing in horror genre with Sylus
~first of all heâs a busy man and despite the fact that he likes horror genre, usually he just donât have enough time for watching movies giving more preference to books. Heâs favorite would definitely be Stephen King for that atmosphere in his artworks.
~heâs a kind of person that will chuckle or at least smile at characters deaths, especially if itâs a stupid one like stepped on âthe most obvious trap heâs ever sawâ and heâs more than glad if youâre same, discussing how dumb heroes are for coming up with those decisions.
~he secretly waits for scary moments cause he loves when you cling to him all tensed seeking for his protection and comfort when monsterâs face appears on the screen with a loud scream. But if youâre a tough one, that cannot be affected so easily donât worry, after some time youâll find yourself in his arms pressed against strong chest anyway.
~he would be glad to watch all the screen adaptations of Stephen Kingâs novels, even if he doesnât like any of it, telling how much better it was on the book pages, but he has favorites like âCarrieâ and âItâ.
~movies about serial killers is his top of most enjoyable ones, sympathizing Myers and Ghost Face and considering how society itself made a monsters out of them. And that is the reason why you often need to put it on pause for you two to meet in a debate battles on that topic.
~if weâre talking about games heâs not much of a player but of course he will do that with you cause obviously thatâs what youâd like. It takes some time for you to explain him how to play but since heâs a âtalented studentâ heâs very fast at learning.
~for the reason that not so much horror games are a multiplayer ones, you play in turns, even if at first he prefers watching you, taking his turn only in case if some moments are too scary for you but after not so long mostly you will be the one to just sit, often giving him advice.
~I feel like this man would like âResident evil 7â and first parts of this franchise, cause the atmosphere in some places there would keep him all in tense, plus he seems to really like the idea of Umbrella, an evil company with their terrible experiments on human body and you already were regretting of giving him ideas for his next business.
~even though he loves to control everything he seems to enjoy games with an unpredictable jump-scares like âLayers of Fearâ or âMortuary Assistantâ that can throw him off course for a couple of seconds. And itâs funny for you to watch how carefully and slowly heâs trying to turn back not to be taken by surprise after the last jump-scare.
~âPhasmophobiaâ is next on your list, a game that was terrifying for you first times you played it. But despite your expectations you almost always were the one to die first while your man just sat there holding a laugh, hidden in the closet like he never even entered the haunted house. Newcomers are lucky not to go out on the ghosts, I guess.
~not a secret that he adores the feeling when somebodyâs life fully depends of his choice, no matter if thatâs a real life or a game, thatâs why he enjoys âUntil Dawnâ along with âDark Anthology Picturesâ. That thrill of power and control that he has over these virtual humans make you feel very sorry for them. And donât even doubt, if he doesnât like the character they will not make it until the end, at least alive.
~he likes horror games/movies with a deep meaning, you know the ones after which you usually sat on one place for some time reflecting on what youâve just seen or played. At that point you and your partner are talking sharing your thoughts and considering all the ways how differently it could be if characters did this instead of that.
~he would love as well physiological thrillers like âThe Shiningâ and âThe Babadookâ, movies where the story is told through the thoughts of psychologically stressed characters, revealing their distorted mental perception of the world and how what seemed like a nice, not remarkable at any point person goes all the way straight to insanity.
~not a big fan of a body horror, as he thinks that itâs the easiest way to impress people with just an image of blood and organs everywhere on the screen. As was said before, he appreciates peopleâs emotions and the atmosphere, that puts viewers or players in a primary terror.

i'm so happy you brought back up the topic of rick's shitty writing of anyone even remotely non white / "white passing"
with that being said, do you think the shitty script he gave to annabeth in the show has to do with him just being deeply uninterested in adapting his story to include characters of color? bc it seems like once rick encounters a character that cannot be easily erased all ethnic or racial identity of to fit them into an usamerican specifically white ass narrative, he gets lost.
i just keep thinking how the only thing that "changed" about annabeth as presented in the show was her race but her plot relevance and her characterization got downgraded severely. meanwhile percy, whiter than before (wheres the mediterranean god look......................................), got half her functions. like i just look at rick in context and i wonder if he just gives so little fuck about characters of color he cant even write a decent character arc for an adaptation of a very established persona
thoughts? thank u!
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Rick (and the writer's room, since it actually seems Rick isn't all that heavily involved if much at all with the script itself based on some interviews) just has internal biases that he refuses to reflect on. It would be a consistent trend with the uptick in offensive writing in the books themselves (see: the troglodytes in general, all the Jewish kids in CHB being in Hermes cabin, etc etc). Rick seems to want to engage with these topics but refuses to actually assess how he's approaching it and his own biases while also overemphasizing his engagement with the topics. It's a kind of big talk/words vs actions type thing to me.
[this got a wee bit long so throwing it under a cut]
I was having a couple of conversations about this topic recently - one being group reading/discussion of WottG and how, allegedly, the slightly different characterizations in that book are inspired by the actors in the show. Annabeth is repeatedly and frequently described as motherly and maternal in the book, plus some other misc characterizations that make you tilt your head and go "Wait, what about Leah made you want to write Annabeth this way?" and concerns about it leaning into stereotypes. (It's also strange, because in the show Sally is MUCH more aggressive and less maternal, and this is painted like it's supposed to be a girlboss thing cause her being too soft and motherly was too weak or something? But now book Annabeth is now being described as all soft and maternal??? What. What is happening.)
Another conversation that i had with my therapist (cause we talk about pjo a lot lol) and later repeated and discussed more with other folks on discord more specifically regarding the show was a lot of discussion about the casting. Particularly casting choices and how the writing either is refusing to take casting into consideration to respectfully approach how things would be changed to avoid problems or are actively changing the script for characters in a way that is potentially if not downright offensive. Clarisse is the number one example i bring up because a lot of people say that the reason a plus sized actress wasn't cast for her was to avoid the "fat bully" trope. The thing is, there is ALSO a POC bully trope that is just as bad if not worse, so if they were actually taking offensive tropes into consideration one would expect them to avoid that too (especially since Percy was cast as a pasty white boy - which just makes it all look worse)? (Also other plus-sized characters like Dionysus and Gabe were also cast as skinny, same with Tyson. So it just seems like they don't want to cast plus-sized actors either.)
But also they're rewriting stuff that actively puts the casting decisions into worse tropes. Like hey, why is Percy (a white guy) the one who knows the "real" versions of all these myths and is expositioning them to Annabeth (a black girl), who in the books is supposed to know more than him? Why does he know better than her for some reason and have to guide her? Why is Percy teaching Annabeth about pop culture and how to be a kid? Not to mention stuff like the show constantly encouraging the viewer to doubt or distrust characters like Grover and Clarisse and Annabeth as red herrings as to who the traitor is. Plus there's no adjustments to stuff from the books like Annabeth initially being somewhat aggressive/antagonistic towards Percy, or Clarisse's aggression and bullying towards Percy to try and circumvent those being bad tropes in the contexts of the casting.
And there's an ongoing trend of characters who are antagonistic towards Percy in the books being divided into two groups: those who continue to be antagonistic towards Percy in the show, or those who are tweaked to suddenly become kinda silly-goofy and significantly less threatening. Gabe, Dionysus, Ares, and Hades are all examples of characters that should be antagonistic towards Percy but are softened SIGNIFICANTLY and played for laughs in the show. Echidna is played as a twist antagonist because she initially because she approaches the kids as very sweet and helpful. And they're all cast as white! Meanwhile other characters like Clarisse, Luke, Zeus, etc, are still antagonistic towards Percy (plus also like Annabeth initially and again, Grover being painted as a major red herring). Plus some new additions like Hermes, Mr. Lin Manuel Miranda himself, being wholly introduced into the plot when he's not supposed to appear until book 2, and all he does is sabotage the quest. Like, it's weird! That's a weird writing decision!!!! I get wanting to get that sweet sweet LMM cameo money, but, why is Hermes an antagonist here???????? he's not even supposed to be here yet!.
We also have stuff like Poseidon (who, like many of the god/major kid pairings so far seems to have been cast to match each other appearance-wise) saving the day for Percy and being this weirdly good dad, versus the books where we get the iconic "I am sorry you were born" line and Percy and Poseidon's tension is part of their arcs. Notably, Poseidon does this by ceding to Zeus, who is actively about to start a war. While Gabe is rewritten to be a total loser, Sally is MUCH more aggressive and her yelling and screaming at young Percy is supposed to be sympathetic for some reason? If Gabe were acting like Sally does in the show, he would actually be significantly more like his book counterpart! The show is making active decisions to paint these characters the way they do!
Admittedly, part of it may just be they got overzealous with their casting (not inherently a bad thing! diverse casting is good!) and then proceeded to not consider how that casting affects the way the characters are perceived. It also doesn't bode well for certain guesses we can make going further into the show - Thalia is very at odds with Percy initially. She's a very aggressive character. They fight a lot! Also Annabeth's description already implies that they're tweaking Thalia's character to be more "tough love" versus the books where she's significantly more of a bleeding heart when she first meets Annabeth. Like, I'm very happy about Thalia's casting, her actress seems amazing, but also I'm VERY concerned with how they're going to approach her character to make sure it doesn't end up wildly offensive. Athena is similar - we can guess based on casting decisions so far that they're going to try and cast Athena as similar in appearance to Annabeth/Leah. The show has already painted Athena has antagonistic and uncaring towards her daughter. If projected trends continue, these things are not gonna be great.
And the show does seem to rarely want to engage with these topics - like the scene with the cop in the train. You can tell what they wanted to address by having Annabeth be the one to confront him. The thing is they were too cowardly to actually have that conversation! They paint the kids as being unreasonable and getting unnecessarily upset when they aren't directly being accused of destroying a room, therein painting the cop as the one in the right in that situation. The implication seems to be a little bit they were going for "Oh, this is Annabeth's hubris getting them into trouble" but. that's such a bad way to do it! That's like the worst way you could have done it! (This is also a trend in books from HoO onwards, more or less - Rick tries to engage with certain topics, often using characters of specific demographics, and then proceeds to do a really bad job of it.)
There are also some aspects that are just like - in the books, Luke being a middle-class blond-haired blue-eyed pretty white boy is relevant! Because the fact that he has privilege from that particularly in how he's perceived is part of how he came to where he is and why he acts the way he does. Percy not having those same privileges, and having aspects like constantly inherently being labeled as a trouble-maker just based on his atypical (neurodivergent) behavior and coming from a lower socioeconomical background play heavily into his character!!! Percy being both a poor and disabled kid (and implied potentially POC) plays DIRECTLY into why he feels so strongly about standing up for other disenfranchised kids (in SoM, explicitly including other disabled kids and kids of color). It directly relates to his experiences and standing up for kids who are like him because he didn't have that, versus Luke whose perceptions and goals are very self-oriented. Now, in the show, we've essentially swapped Percy and Luke's appearances, and that paints a very different narrative. And that's important to acknowledge!
#riordanverse#pjo#pjo tv#pjo tv crit#rr crit#Anonymous#ask#wottg#< for some minor discussion of Annabeth in the recent book#racism //#percy jackson#< tagging percy but not gonna tag everybody else cause i mentioned like half the cast lmao >->o#this is an early morning ramble so forgive if it's not super well put together#it's very aggravating though because. like. the casting is GOOD for the most part (sighs deeply at Tyson)#(im sure his actor is fine or whatever but i will eternally be mad about the disability erasure with him)#the actors are GOOD! theyre good at their jobs! and particularly the kids seem to know their characters VERY well!#and the amount of diversity we're getting is really nice! it's really cool that the show is very diverse!#but the script is SO BAD!!!! it shouldn't be on the actors to make up for how bad the script is!#especially with how it's painting characters offensively!#im sure a lot of it isnt intentional but that doesnt excuse that it DOES exist#long post //#< lots of long posts the past couple of days lmao

Hi
I have an Eddie request. I feel like with D&D because you can base it off of anything, Eddie is a bit of a history buff. One day chubby!reader transfers to Hawkins and Eddie canât help but compare her to Aphrodite. He writes a poem and reads it to reader who is confused by the resemblance and Eddie shows her a history book with a statue of Aphrodite in it and reader just softly whispers âsheâs like me.â
Request by @randomreader1999
â€ïž
Eddie was in love. He knew it from the moment he saw you, the new girl who has just transferred to Hawkins High.
Contrary to popular belief, there were things that Eddie was into that weren't just D&D and heavy metal music. He liked sewing, had pretty much adapted to it very quickly and his made jackets and vests even more metal with patches from bands he liked.
Another topic he loved was History. Specifically exploring legends and myths, incorporating the legends and monsters into his D&D stories.
Currently, his new obsession was with Greek mythology, and the minute he saw you, he was sure you were Aphrodite in the flesh; he was smitten.
The guys teased him for it but a quick withering glare shut them up. He thought you were the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen and he loved your curves and pretty eyes.
The two of you had begun talking and he felt like he was getting to know you better. He had taken to writing a poem for you, it wasn't the best, but it was from the heart, and he just wrote down everything he felt when he looked at you.
Sharing it with you was another thing, he considered posting it to you anonymously before getting some courage to show you it.
Your sweet smile and the way your eyes widened as you read his words were enough to calm down his nerves; he hadn't been so nervous about doing something since his first gig with Corroded Coffin.
"The poem is beautiful, Eddie, but Um, who's the woman in the drawing?" you ask him, confused and trace your fingers over it.
"That's Aphrodite" he still has the Greek myths book in his bag, so he shows you Aphrodite, and you read the description of her, peering up shyly at Eddie.
"Oh, she does look like me a little bit" You're as flustered as he is but he's absolutely thrilled when your hand meets his under the table and your pinkie entwines with his.
Maybe he shouldn't have been so nervous to show you the poem if he knew this would happen. He can't help but walk through the school with a beaming smile on his face all day.

The missing Arthurian knight - rediscovered in 2019
Well the title is a slight lie - the missing knight wasn't rediscovered in 2019, it was earlier than that, but he didn't became public until 2019.
So what's this "missing knight" about? Well as the title says. There was a knight part of the Arthurian myth, and he had been missing ever since the Middle-Ages, and he was only recently rediscovered.
Or rather, to be exact - there was an Arthurian novel centered around a knight that existed and was a famous and well-known part of the Arthurian literature in the Middle-Ages, but that completely disappeared, and was forgotten by culture (as much popular culture as the scholarly one). Until very recently.
This rediscovered novel has been a hot topic of all Arthuriana fans in Europe for a few years now - and yet I do not see much talk about this onto this website, despite Tumblr being a big place for Arthurian fans?
So I will correct this by doing a series of posts about the subject. And this post will be the first one, the introduction post presenting to you "Ségurant, le chevalier au dragon" ; "Segurant, the knight of the dragon". A French medieval novel part of the Arthurian literature (hence the "chevalier au X" title structure - like Lancelot, the knight of the cart or Yvain the knight of the lion from Chrétien de Troyes), the reason this story was forgotten by all medievalist and literary scholars is - long story short - because it never existed in any full manuscript (at least none that survived to this day). It was a complete story yes, with even variations apparently, but that was cut into pieces and fragments inserted into various other manuscripts and texts (most notably various "Merlin's Prophecies").
The novel and the Knight of the Dragon were rediscovered through the work of Emanuele Arioli, who rediscovered a fragment of the story while looking at an old manuscript of a Merlin Prophecies, and then went on the hunt for the other fragments and pieces scattered around Europe, until he finally could compile the full story, that he then published in 2019, at the Belles Lettres publishing house, in 2019.
Arioli reconstructed the text, and translated it in both modern French and Italian for scholarly and professional editions (aka Honoré Champion in France, a reference for universities)...
... But also for a more "all public, found in all libraries" edition - the famous 2019 edition at Les Belles Lettres.
And not only that, but he also participated to both a comic book adaptation with Emiliano Tanzillo...
... and an adaptation as an illustrated children novel!
Finally, just a few weeks, the Franco-German channel Arte released a documentary about the reconstitution and content of this missing novel called "Le Chevalier au dragon: Le roman disparu de la Table Ronde". (The Knight of the Dragon - The missing novel of the Round Table). The full documentary is on Youtube in French for those that speak the language, here. And in German here for those who speak German.
Unfortunately there is no English version of the documentary that I know of, nor any English publications of the actual text - just French and Italian. But hey, I'll try to palliate to that by doing some English-speaking posts about this whole business!

CITY OF BLANK - IT DESERVES BETTER.
So it was implied recently by 66 (creator of City of Blank on Webtoons) on reddit that Webtoons had screwed over their recent return from a brief hiatus (one that they had arranged as they were moving and needed the time to focus on IRL stuff without deadlines looming over them, very valid). But it was confirmed in the episode description of their newest FP release:
So Webtoons has screwed over another creator in the advertising department. I don't want to point fingers, but we all know which series are constantly being prioritized in the banner reels while others are left buried to fend for themselves cough cough
Anyways, City of Blank is a webtoon that's been around for a loooong time. As in, Webtoons isn't even the first platform it's been hosted on, but this is the furthest it's come thanks to the Originals deal it got to be hosted exclusively on Webtoons. It's currently on its final season and while it got some brief amount of ad space at the premiere of its season, it since hasn't been given much ad space and even worst of all, not a single spot in the banner reel rotation since returning from its hiatus despite Webtoons promising 66 they would.
So now, unsurprisingly, City of Blank is struggling to be seen and read. It's a genuinely wonderful series with amazing thought-out writing (again this is a series that's been around for a while so you can tell the creator has put a lot of effort into refining the plot, which is a rarity on the platform these days) and the art is gorgeous and consistent, quite literally anime-quality.
Please, consider checking out City of Blank if you're looking for something new to read. It's a sci-fi series with loads of action, comedy, and character-driven subplots that delve into deeper topics like discrimination and social justice movements through a fantasy lens. If there's any series on the platform that's long overdue for recognition, attention, and opportunities for cool shit like printed books and TV adaptions, it's City of Blank.
#comic recommendation#webtoon recommendation#webtoon critical#fr fuck webtoons for doing this to their creators#there's literally zero reason for them to have comics like LO in the banner reels every week#WT never learned not to put all your eggs in one basket#let's take those eggs and throw 'em right back by reading the series they don't want to pay attention to

In this essay I will talk about how Rick could have made Jason a more interesting character to more people
Im not joking, Drews is next and why she really wasnt that bad of a person, just a traumatized teen
CW FOR MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED ALL THE BOOKS!!!!
Starting off I fully believe most people didn't like Jason because he was a random new guy, like we were expecting Percy and got some amnesiac and didn't get to see out hero happy and living his life for the entire book, and he was so confused most the time, because he fully didn't remember anything, he wasn't even given the same fake memories to try and act normal, he didn't know his own name when he woke up on that bus, we had to personality to go off of at the start, because HE DIDNT KNOW WHO HE WAS! People always say Leo was the best out of the lost trio and that's because so many people could relate to him, he used humor to cover stuff up, like everyone's favorite mc did (Percy). Piper had her own struggles, like finding out who she thought was her boyfriend, didn't know who she was, she was being manipulated and her dad was being held hostage as she was told to kill her friends, and she AND Leo were in a WILDERNESS SCHOOL. A. WILDERNESS. SCHOOL. I got off topic, sorry, but piper had so many of her own stuff she was working through in the way she thought was correct, by lying and hiding things. Jason had nothing, he knew he didn't remember anything and he was sad. Leo had a personality and was content separate to them, obviously he had issues but he was the most similar to Percy, so fans liked him the most (imo)
Now, onto how rick could have made Jason better
made him actually an awesome fighter, he killed monsters with his bare hands and was raised by wolves since two, he should have been equal to or even better than Percy with muscle memory and all, which yeah he had but he still should have had a more feral side to him, he was said to climb the ranks at camp Jupiter and was a bit more wild than other romans, I think it would have been interesting to see Jason use his instincts more and be a little feral when he lost his memory, not having his camp Jupiter training but muscle memory and instincts to guide him and keep him going
He should have been more separated from Percy, he was not a comparison to Percy and I don't like that was how he was written, I don't have much to say about this but I really didn't like when they both sat at the head of the table
He should have gotten his memories back like percy did, He never got to learn who he was or what he stood for in the past because he never got to get those back, even after the war ended hera/juno didnt return them, which I think would have made a really interesting ending to TLH, or getting them during the quest or something, but he dies without knowing who he was, only a pawn for the gods
Have had mention of him previously, like a picture thalia had and thats why she even agreed to bring annabeth, because she reminded her of jason, or just that she even HAD a little brother so readers could have had a fun plot twist and even more of a heart warming reuniting scene
Adding to that a bit i think thalia and jason really should have had more time together, like maybe in toa mentioning that thalia had been visiting jason when she could to catch up on lost time, to be siblings again and try to live as normally as possible. (off topic but i think the jason/luke comparisons are 50/50, i like others seeing it and Thalia at first but removing the idea immediately because at one point she liked luke and jason is her baby brother)
Let him be awake during fight scenes
I think jason could have grown more, and adapted a mix of fighting, a bit roman, a bit greek, and a bit feral, to match how his life was
when we see him in toa i think it would have been fun to see how much he had grown, experimenting with new styles (maybe a bit more alt considering his older sister, but he was at a boys school so maybe outside of it?) Just, growing into himself and not focusing on the gods as much, he lived and died for them, without much in return
Let us know who his friends were before he lost his memories, like have percy seens people asking around or being asked if he had seen a blonde gut about yae high, named jason, just stuff like that to show he had a community or at least someone who truly cared he was gone
Ik it was more of a list but yk, also sorry for the lack of punctuation, i forget it exists unless its an excessive amounts of commas, i like commas, and forget to capitalize my I's
Thanks for coming to my ted talk

grandparents part 3 outta 3, baby!!!!
Long text under the cut,
espeon evolved at a young age. when he had begun to develop a mysterious illness in his brain that couldve been fatal if his body didnt evolve into an espeon to combat the potentially terminal disease early on. it didnt really impact him past that point in his life and recovered very well but...
his own unconventional evolution piqued his interest in how far an eevees adaptive abilities could be pushed. But from what he could tell no one else had been able Really look into that.
but espeon had always been fascinated by evolution in general helping his parents with their work. espeon was born around the time they started the research facility in kanto after they had moved there together. he had made impressive advancements in the field of evolution studies himself. wrote books, publicly spoke on the topic and just. generally became a respected authority on it all, over the course of his life.
over the years he had also found the time to start a family. not very present in their lives since he was extremely busy with his work. his oldest and youngest did not have much interest in their family's line of research at all but his middleborn always had a respect for the work his father did.
However, as successful as he was in his field...he still wasn't satisfied with his personal knowledge of his own species's natural abilities...
---
one day espeon had gotten an offer from team rocket to be a lead scientist on some project. something about cloning mew. they said that they would assist him with anything he wanted. give him any amount of money he wanted for him to be on the project. he made a big show of kicking them out of the facility, however...he secretly contacted them telepathically before they got very far away telling them he would work with them.
the project progressed and espeon became fascinated with not only the science and technology involved in what they were doing but the ethics as well. And how they could just...do it. But then again he'd never personally cared about whether an experiment could be considered cruel to its participants. Always being ruled by his own curiosity and his want of knowledge in that regard...
As he felt like the progress was going smoothly on the project...something went wrong and Mewtwo broke out. He was prepared for his offer to be rescinded but...team rocket kept up their part of the deal they agreed on and gave him as much protection and money for whatever he had in mind as they could...
he wanted to see how far an eevees natural adaptation could be pushed. Even though he knew the route he was going possibly wouldn't offer reliable research he didn't particularly care as long as he could sate his own curiosity in the topic...he only had three test subjects after all.
Espeon couldn't let his kids evolve for the sake of his pet project to work. Not only did he do experiments that physically harmed them on occasion but since eevees also evolved w emotional stimuli he messed around a lot with that aspect of it too... his eldest evolved on her own one day the first chance she got. after an argument w him she left home on her own. Soon after his youngest followed her lead. Left with only his middleborn he still did what he could...
Begrudgingly the experiments came to an end. leaving him still unsatisfied but he understood that there was little point in continuing on.
---
as the years went on he actually did try to have a *decent(by his standards at least) relationship with his grandkids despite his son being "overly cautious" and not really wanting them to have to interact with him in any way if they didnt have to...
when one of his grandchildren evolved into an espeon he immediately took them on as an assistant of sorts in hopes that they would be able to take over the family business. However his expectations were not met and he was disappointed more than anything.
When he eventually passed around his late 70s(?) he kind of had no other choice but to put his son in charge of the family labs seeing as everyone else he thought of as a possible option was either no longer in contact with him or dead.
He died about 2 years before EVs egg was laid.
#pokemon#grandpa espeon#my art#been struggling to put this stuff out there for so long bc frankly it feels very jarring to me in comparison to every other part of#the main ef stuff but like. idt i could change it by this point if i wanted to so uh...#i have a lot to say about /a lot/ of this stuff and i cut out //a lot// of details since it was already getting long so. ask me if you have#any questions or anything....but uhm.. yeah..(<-sooo nervous)#the family#grandparents

Comments on Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender
*spoiler alert*
First of all I'm gonna start by saying it is one of the best adaptations I've seen so far. And that's the key word, adaptation. I've seen a lot of fans and others complain about some things that honestly, doesn't make sense because some things only work in a cartoon(just as much as some things only work in a book or a video game)
And before I start to talk about some topics that I judge important, I also wanna say that the production is fantastic, from the costumes to the CGI. It all looks amazing. (A part from Yue's wig)
1. The Script
It's not easy to pick 20+ episodes and make it fit in only 8 but damn they did a hell of a good job, especially when judging what was important to show and what they could let it go. Some fans commented that since there's no fillers, the Gaang and others miss some development but I think that for the universe of the live action what we got here it worked.
I can express how much I like to see Ozai and Azula's relationship and how it is now clear that he uses the siblings against each other, manipulating them to get what he wants. But I will admit I miss the fear Azula had, since it's implied in the show and some extras that she does fear Ozai, and fears becoming like Zuko.
I hope the 41. Is just fine after the battle in the north. See all of them bowing to Zuko after discovering that Zuko was the one that saved their asses and was heavily punished by that...it was beautiful. I loved the writers did that, give names and faces to Zuko's crew and a beautiful yet sad arc when Ozai banished his son and the men who he saved.
I also loved that they put weight into things that was treated as a joke, like Katara talking about her mother. She was a little kid who saw her mom get murdered in front of her and the live action made sure to let us know that it is not okay to make jokes about something so traumatic. All of the deaths here have tons of weight in it, it's not some random person, is someone we met, someone we liked, someone who helped. The costs of the war, something the cartoon manages to show us but know in live action, with real people, the massage gets stronger.
And they didn't forget Iroh's past like the fandom does, which is great. That actor, the earthbending soldier really let it all out, that's how you use the few screentime you have.
Sokka's isn't sexist and y'all were making a storm outta a cup of water, is not like Sokka sexist didn't go away after like the 4 or 5 episode in the original show. I think the live action was able to bring more depth to him in comparison to the first season of the cartoon. We see how he feels about his father's, the absence of him and his duty as warrior who kinda doesn't want to be a warrior.
I need a Gyatso in my life, I didn't know I needed to see more of him until the live action gave us more of him. Kyoshi was the Thor coming to Wakanda from this season, WHY THE FUCK BRYKE DONT WANNA GIVE US A KYOSHI SERIES? She is absolutely a jewel of a character. Roku and Kuruk, damn poor Kuruk man, so much pain in his words but again that's what it means to be the Avatar, it's not fun and games. Zhao saying to Aang what Korra villains said to Korrađ that the world doesn't need the Avatar anymore, it hurt.
Guys I'm gonna say it, there's no way in hell for anyone to ship Kataang here. I'm saying this because some shippers complain that the secret tunnel part was different but c'mon, look at Kiawentiio and look at Gordon, it would be so s awkward and weird and just wrong. I know they don't have a big age difference, is only like 3 years but when they filmed Gordon looked so much younger than her, maybe in the next seasons the difference won't be that big.
The pace is good, once you start you don't wanna stop.
2. The Acting
Everyone is really good at capturing the essence of it's characters and somewhat making them their own. The highlights for me were Dallas and Ian, Its like they came straight from the show. Ken Leung's Zhao was also amazing as he was way more threatening here than he was in the show.
Kiawentiio was the Katara we were looking for, she is kind yet strong, brave and caring. And Gordon was Aang, sure, he has to learn a few things since he slipped a few times in his acting but nothing that could ruin the experience, that kid is good and just needs some experience.
Elizabeth Yu was Azula. It was different but yet the same character, is like learning something new of her and I like how cleared she show emotions with her eyes. Maria Zhang had great chemistry with Ian and I can't wait to see more of Suki. Arden Cho and Yvonne Chapman as June and Avatar Kyoshi look like they came out straight from the cartoon. Daniel Dae Kim...man is Ozai, so cold, so sharp, so scary, already way better than the cartoon version. I wanna see more of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh since the character he really starts to shine in book 2.
3. The live action doesn't have the spirit of the OG?
Yes, it does have. The thing is now that we are seeing real people, things get dark one way or another but I don't think it ruined the spirit of the show. Aang is still a kid, Sokka still making sarcastic jokes, Zuko still annoying as hell, Katara still hopeful and strong... There's everything there really.
The thing is stuff like genocide, murder, war, death and suffering are, for some people, better to watch as pixels in a cartoon than real people.
I think it's a great adaptation and I would recommend it to every fan.

Ever since I read an interview where Fuller was upset because a movie wasnât faithful to the original source material I think no wonder he keeps trying to add in stuff from other Hannibal books and sprinkling Clarice everywhere. Itâs disappointing because I think the show is at its best when itâs doing something different and letting its characters stand on their own. Some lines he kept in didnât even make sense like the Red Dragon thinking Will wasnât handsome because heâs not in the book but he most definitely is in the tv show.
To be honest, I don't feel "objective" enough on this topic, because my first contact with Lecter's universe was Silence of the Lambs when I was a teenager. Then, in the mood for some crime-psychological series, I decided to give NBC's Hannibal a try. I started reading the books at the very end, so I think that watching the movie and series before the source material changes my perception of it, which is quite common when it comes to adaptations.
When it comes to me though, until recently I believed that the best adaptations were films/series that were fully faithful to the source material. It's only recently that I've started to learn what adaptation actually means and that no, not always being fully faithful to the source material is good.
I understand that Clarice's absence may be disappointing, but in case of Hannibal, I usually try to separate the book and TV series canon. And if I'm honest, while reading the books, I enjoyed recognizing parts I already knew from the series and movies. It gave me a new context of all of that.
Learning that Will mixes with Clarice in the series happened quite quickly after I finished watching the series, so I took it as quite natural that the lines about Clarice in the book/films were used for Will and I think it's good, since he took the role of Hannibal "lover". Changing the context of the conversation about "imago"? This is a moment in Mizumono that still gets me every single time.
However, it makes me chuckle a little bit, when I see how often fans of the series think that the producers came with the most beautiful lines about love, when most of the iconic words from the series (like: "If I saw you everyday forever, I would remember this time", "feel stab of hunger and find nourishment at the very sight of...", etc.), actually come from the books.
I got kinda sad though, when I realised how many of Doctor Bloom's lines the show assigned to Hannibal to make him seem even more amazing and "superhuman", because I feel like it strippes Doctor Bloom of their (in books it's a male, in the series it's a woman, so their) inteligence, making Doctor Bloom mainly a love interest for two seasons.
I know the show's creators didn't get the rights to Clarice, but at the same time, they poured a lot of her into the character of Miriam Lass and sometimes you may wonder why they didn't replace Clarice entirely with her. Does this have to do something with rights as well?
The changes introduced by the series with the usage of the source material fascinate me and I guess that I like most of them.
I have to admit though that the third season really neglects Francis Dolarhyde and I only understood what was actually happening in season 3B after reading the book.
But I disagree that Francis' comment about Will's appearance doesn't fit here! It is known that both in the book and in the adaptations Francis has very low self-esteem. If I remember correctly, in the book he aims the knife at Will's eye but hits him in the face instead, the same in the series. He may comment that Will is ugly, but still, he aimed at his face, as if in jealousy that Will "sees" him but hasn't experienced what he has.

What if the pre-war government censored all information on sexual health?
You should know I wrote this with my entire p#@sy. MDNI
Nora never really considered herself sheltered. All things considered she thought she was rather open minded. Anatomy and burns never made her squeamish, she was a battle medic, and then a trauma surgeon for hellâs sake. When she served she was often praised for her ability to keep it together even in the most hellish circumstances. When it comes to injuries encountered in battle, especially in regards to prisoners of war or those left too long alone in drastic environments, Nora was who they called. When the wounds before them were so gruesome it got to even the most seasoned surgeon, Nora was one of the few members on staff that people could count on to stay composed till the patient was stable. The things sheâd seen, god the things sheâd smelled⊠and beyond just violence and gore, sheâs cussed, heard locker room talk, mothered herself a child, and sheâll never really forget that time with her company crawling around in a field looking for the dismembered penis of the poor bastard who caught the business end of a pretty nasty car bomb. Despite the propaganda of her small town she liked to believe that she treated people the same no matter what they believed in or looked like. When she crawled out of that vault she managed to swallow down her grief and face the wasteland. She accepted that life would always be stranger than fiction and started collecting friends that looked like they belonged in comic books. She learned fast and adapted to a world that had changed plenty without her.Â
So what the fuck were her friends talking about?Â
âI mean it man, I swear to god when I went down on her that rug was braidedâ
âNo way, who in their right mind spends time braiding down there?â Piper looked at Hancock like his ear just fell off.Â
âI guess some girls in the capital are just differentâ Hancock shrugged with a tipsy grin before talking another sip from his beer. âDifferent strokes for different folks and all that.âÂ
âI call bullshitâ Macreedy spoke up. âSome chick in the capital isnât gonna have any more time to be so weird about her hygiene than anyone in the commonwealth.âÂ
âThey do got that bigass water purifier down there, maybe they get to shower more and it does something weird to their brainâ Deacon interjected, shit eating grin having not moved from his face since the second he sat down with the group with his bowl of stew and a bottle of whisky to pass amongst the group. In fact Nora was fairly certain his distinctive grin had only grown as the conversation got more confusing.Â
âBefore ze war, zhey studied peopleâs brainz and why zhey might do strange zhings. Some diagnozis did mention zat a personsâs environment can induze compulzive behaviors, especially vhen expozed to trauma. Most of zhe examples were concerning cleanliness and hygiene.â Curie spoke up, and finally Nora felt like she was understanding what was being said. Though, She wasnât entirely sure how they got to their current conversation topic. âIf a perzon feels such compulsizons and findz zemselves vith zhe means, zhey may indulge zhemselves even to zhe point vhere ve find zheir behavior strange.â
âWell, I guess she could be considered odd. Becoming a ghoul isnât exactly non-traumatic, but if it really is because of the water purifier than I wouldnât mind everyone getting a little more weird. She nearly tasted like waterâ Tasted??? Who tastes someone during sex? Well, she guessed Nate had liked sucking her breasts, especially after having shawn, but she thought it would probably taste more salty. They had to be talking about sex if Preston's face was anything to go by. The man looked like he was simultaneously trying to hide behind his drink and shrink back into his coat. Hancock was looking away fondly when Cait slugged his shoulder.Â
âMan Iâve seen you put a slice of cram in between two snack cakes and call it a fancy sandwich. And then ate it. I donât trust your sense of tasteâÂ
âYeah!â Curie spoke up. âYou zaid zath you canât taste anyzhing since you turned ghoul!â A choir of yeahâs arose around her from Piper, Macreedy, Deacon, and Cait.Â
âThose are the words of a person who has never tried a fancy sandwich.â John waggled a finger at Cait. âYou should know thatâs a ghoul delicacy.âÂ
âWhat are we talking about?â Danse strode over to the group following the cheers from the corner of the settlement bar.Â
âOnly the finest delicacies available to a person.â Hancock grinned at the synth cheekily.
âDanse youâve been to the capital wasteland before, did girls start tasting different after that water drama?â Deacon stood to drag the synth down into the already crowded booth. Danse suddenly looked very much like he wanted to leave.Â
âIâm not telling you about my sexual encounters.â Ah, so It was about sex.Â
âOh come on! Youâre no fun.â Deacon laughed and shoved Danse as he squeezed into the booth.Â
âYou know for all your expertise on retrieving important information I'm surprised youâre withholding this essential data.â Piper jabbed, and with a wiggle of her eyebrows passed the whiskey to Danse. âNo way this reporter can get a scoop?âÂ
âWrong hands and all that.â Danse sniffed before taking a swig.Â
âAnd therefore!â Hancock slammed his hands on the table and looked pointedly at Macreedy Curie and Cait. âNone of you can prove that pussy did not taste different after that water debacle.â Nora was trying to put it together in her mind what they were describing looked like, fighting off a blush as her mind wandered.
âDoes it even matter if thereâs a difference?â Nick sighed past his cigarette, adding another puff of smoke into the already slightly opaque air of the concrete building.Â
âOv course it dozeâ Curie slurred. While she had yet to touch any chems beyond stimpacks and the occasional med-x after a rough fight, curie was clearly enjoying âzhe social ritual of zhelebratory inebriationâ as she had put it. Especially since John used his connections to find her some pot, a drug she apparently had medical reason to trust more than alcohol. The first time Curie tried a shot she spat it out and talked extensively about how it burned. Right now she was enjoying a small rum and nuka (The only way she could tolerate any alcohol) and passing a joint between herself, John, and Cait. âIt could be a healtz indicator! In regardz to zex, zhis is important, yes?âÂ
âOrâ Macreedy interjected, seeming rather done with this conversation. âMaybe weâre all a bunch of gross fucks and pussy tastes good if its hydrated. For all we know that was just basic pre-war and weâre just now catching up.âÂ
âMan, people really had it good pre-war if everyone tasted like that.â Hancock sighed whistfully before taking a puff of the joint as it was passed his way.Â
âVell, I guess ve vill never have the data on zhatâ Curie sighed.Â
âNu-uhâ Deacon spoke up, grin unmoving as he cast his gaze to Nora. Oh no. âWe got ourselves our own repository of pre-war experiences right here.âÂ
âOh shit, yeah. What do you think sunshine? Do folks taste different after the bombs?â Hancock looked at her rather excitedly, and suddenly Nora felt quite a few eyes on her. What she wouldnât give for a stealth boy right now. Or a much, much stronger drink. Speaking ofâŠÂ
âWell I donât know, I wasnât exactly walking around licking people.â Nora huffed and snatched the whiskey bottle before it could reach its next destination.Â
âWhat, Nate never let you get a taste of yourself? Kept you all to himself? Never told you what it was like while he was going down?â Cait jested, propping her head on her elbow and looking up at Nora with mischief written across her face. Taste herself? Going down? Nora was rapidly losing context as her anxiety grew.Â
âI-... I mean not really?â Nora stuttered, floundering for something to say that wouldnât tip off her friends that she had no fucking clue what they were referencing. Oh no, now Cait looked confused. âI mean, people didnât really discuss sex like people do nowâŠâ She trailed off but the eyes did not leave her. Normally she relished sharing her better memories from before the war with her friends, loved how they listened to her no matter what she wanted to talk about, but this time she just wished theyâd ignore her. She took another swig to buy herself some time.Â
âWait, Nate did go down on you right?â Piper spoke up, leaning forward in her seat with a look of concern and confusion. Damn her. Nora normally loved how quickly Piper could put pieces together before she could, but right now she wanted to strangle her. The table was silent.Â
âI uh, thatâs slang right?â Piper nodded. âI donât really know what that means.â Cait started cackling and Nora felt her cheeks flush.Â
âGirly it means eating pussy.â Cait giggled. Nora just blinked at her, embarrassment growing as she remained confused. Caitâs giggles died off, along with her grin. âEating you out? Shit Curie you had a big word for it.â
âCunilingus?â Curie studied her face. âOral zex?â Curie probed fruther. How would she taste herself during a blowjob? âProviding physical pleasure to a woman by means of contact between the mouth and the vagina?â Curie clarified. When she just started at Curie confused John spoke up.Â
âHold on, you really have no clue what weâre talking about?â He looked bewildered.Â
â...Noâ Nora wished the ground would eat her alive.
âDamn, you had that manâs kid and he never went down on you? Ever?â John looked shocked, and looking around the table she realized pretty much everyone was giving her some flavor of the same look. âMan maybe pre-war folk didnât have it that nice of they didnât go down on each other.â Hancock shook his head.Â
âWe had the notion of oral sex before the war.â Nick clarified with a furrow in his brow. âIâm sure you ended up reading about it somewhere. You were a nurse right?âÂ
âI mean, yeahâŠâ Nora mumbled. âBut it was mostly about ways people catch different diseases and how to identify symptoms.â The whiskey bottle was passed along, and Nora prayed the conversation would steer towards pre-war medicine. At least she could talk extensively about that. Curie suddenly looked a little mad.Â
âOn vhat anatomy?â She questioned with urgency. âYour medical textbookz must have explained zhe affects on men and vomen, yes?â A beat of silence passed. Shit, her textooks were basically all male anatomy. She racked her head. There were diagrams of women, she knew it. Yeah, when she was learning basic gynecology. She saw plenty of diagrams of female reproductive organs. And especially leading up to their unit on delivery. Did they talk about diseases in women? She knew they discussed pregnancy effectsâŠÂ
âI mean I was first trained as a combat medic, so it was mostly male anatomy...â
âBut they had women in the army.â Nick corrected. âNot just medics, they saw deployment. They were soldiers.â Nick stubbed out the last of his cigarette in the ashtray. âThey didnât really train their medics to only treat half of their army did they?âÂ
âWell beyond genitalia there isnât much difference between male and female anatomy-â
âZhat is not true!!â Curie exclaimed. She definitely looked mad now. âSurely treating soldiers so vould result in more female casualties, yes?âÂ
âWomen in relationships were given the option to opt out of the draft, so it was a lot more men than women.â Nora explained. âAnd if you ask me the death toll of that war was pretty equal opportunity in the end.âÂ
Curie frowned. âHold onâ Hancock spoke up, tucking his tin of mentats back into his pocket as he looked at her contemplatively. Nora felt like she would not enjoy his line of questioning with those in his system. âSo let me get this straight, you knew about oral sex, but not on women?â Why did he look sad?
âYes?â Nora suddenly felt very uncertain.Â
âDid you perform oral sex?â He followed her response rather quickly. If she wasnât already clearly blushing she was certain she looked like a tomato now (Or she supposed, a tato fruit is the new word for the vegetable). She swallowed and felt like it was all too audible.Â
âYes.â
âI hope he was a good lay then, fucker better have caught up if you werenât getting any head.â Cait grumbled, leaning her head on Noraâs shoulder. â-âNough men up here donât care if a girl cums, Iâdidâd hoped it was different then.â Nora was silent. Girls didnât have cum, right? Sheâd never produced any cum with Nate, and her teachers were very clear. Men produced semen and women produced eggs, and sex required the male to ejaculate to enable procreation. Women couldnât produce ejaculate. Nora must have been quiet too long, or maybe she still looked confused because John spoke up again.Â
âHe did make you cum, right?â Nora sorta wished someone would just shoot her now and spare her this exchange. Still, they seemed willing enough to explain, right? And they were her friends, she trusted them.Â
âI thought only men could produce ejaculate?â Nora clarified rather quietly.
âFuck, man.â Hancock sighed dissapointedly, leaning back in his seat and pushing his hat back. Nick shook his head as their friends began mumbles of âThatâs fucked up/ Damn/ Fucking pre-war assholes.â She found the whiskey pushed back into her hands, a rather clingy Cait wrapping her arms around her as she indulged, but no explanation offered. Nora was thankful when Deacon changed the subject, content to listen to his latest exaggerated story rather than think too much about the pitying looks she kept catching from her friends. She wasnât quite sure what to think about this newfound revelation that she had far less experience than she thought when it comes to sex. Clearly she was missing a lot. Everyone was weirdly more polite to each other and her after the whole conversation, not that Nora was complaining, but paired with the glances she kept catching between her friends it was all rather strange.Â
She was one of the first to turn in, making her way to the large house she built with a room for each of her friends. Of course not leaving without everyone insisting on a parting hug, Cait planting a sloppy kiss on her cheek with a grin. It was a short but pleasant walk back to the house. She loved sanctuary and still kept a house there, but sometimes the memories were just too heavy. There was just something about the complex she built at starlight drive-in that felt so beautiful to her. Maybe because her only pre-war memories of the place were high school dates and the carnival that would come through town. Maybe it was because it had one of the best places to stargaze undisturbed. Maybe it was because it felt like she was building a new family here.Â
The building was mostly concrete, with lead lining on the exterior to keep out the wastes when they came in on the winds of a radstorm. Everyone had their own room, each decked out to their own tastes. The settlement had huge walls and enough missile turrets to send a sentry bot to abu dhabi. It was safe, and cozy, but not nearly as lively and green as Nora remembered from her childhood. There were people aplenty sure, but pretty much just robots, synths, ghouls, and folks just looking for some peace for once showed up to her settlements. No kids. Nora would always lament shawnâs loss of access to many childhood cultural staples. At least he had his pip boy and her entire game collection, and what child-appropriate media she had downloaded on there before the bombs dropped. She tried to make the compound fun, but her settlers seemed to enjoy her amenities more than her son. It's one thing to build your kid a playground, it was another to get them to play on it. She really wished that ghoul family would move in, or really any family. She really hoped the cure they sent out to Macreedyâs son worked fast. Itâd be nice to have him here. She guessed she couldnât blame people for choosing not to bring a new life into this hellscape, and to not risk talking about any kids they did have outside of settlements. At least Shawn seemed content with picking up stories from residents and playing games with Ada, Codsworth and the robots Nora built. Whenever she had to take off to make sure the peace she helped build would stick, she felt a lot better knowing most of her friends would be staying behind, and theyâd be looking out for Shawn.Â
They understood how anxious she could get about him. Shawn wasnât born to her, but her son never really bothered to consider the implications of what he made. Shawn did not ask to be built young, programmed afraid and terrified of abandonment. Nora had asked the railroad if they thought he could grow, mature, not be stuck as a kid for however many centuries heâd survive. No one had any clue, there were no other synths like him. She knew one day she would have to tell him, before all the years on ice caught up to her and he was stuck alone.Â
Except he wouldnât be, Nora reminded herself. Her friends, theyâd listened to her on many dark nights, listening to her grief and fears and anxieties. Nick had held her, promised her that no matter what reality lay in store for Shawn, if he was functional he would be there for him. John had similar sentiments, with the addition of a few corny ghoul jokes and a radioactive punchline. Strong, well⊠âNo cry!!! Crying Weak. Human not weak. Strong is Strong! Strong smash anything that try to smash tiny robot child.â Which she supposed was reassuring at least in regards to his safety. He was good at that, any time he was stationed at the drive in he insisted on guarding the front gate. She would have thought it would be easier to get a super mutant to party, but he generally did not enjoy any situation with too many humans he couldnât yell at. In all honesty, when it came to helping keep her kid sane she trusted curie the most. She had taken her worries so seriously that she found a new research focus after her stimpack breakthrough.Â
Nora stopped by Shaun's room on the ground floor, peeking in the door happy to see him in bed, his desk still littered with nuka cola bottles and the various pieces of whatever technology he could get his hands on to fiddle with. When she had started construction he had insisted on having his own door out into the little village so he could look around for scrap without Ada or Codsworth lecturing him for tracking mud water dirt or oil into the house. It worried her sometimes, and seeing him safe and at peace always helped settle her. She knew that with Ada in charge of the household and the many robots she had built to help the community nothing would ever happen to him. Realistically, It would be really hard to even approach the settlement while presenting a threat without getting nuked to hell by the space sentry bot her son had lovingly named Jupiter. Still, she always indulged herself in checking on him before she turned in whenever she was home.Â
Four floors up the complex of concrete lead and steel, her room had a beautiful view of the gardens below, beyond them the marketplace. She watched as her friends spilled out the bar, one by one. Chatting amongst themselves as they made their way back to the house. John slung his arms around Nick and Caitâs shoulders before making a broader gesture towards the top of the house. The group paused and lingered, chatting in a large circle.Â
Looking down on them, Nora figured it didnât really matter if they all were more experienced than her. None of them would think less of her for it. She trusted them not to tease her, they dropped the whole conversation when they found their answers. No one said anything teasing afterwards, and she felt more confident now that if she had questions theyâd be forthcoming with answers. She felt some of the tension from earlier leave her as she changed into comfortable sleep clothes and crawled into bed.Â
âSo there has to be a way for women to ejaculate by their reactions from earlierâ Nora thought. When they were talking about tasting earlier, she now realized they meant tasting a vagina. âThereâs nothing wrong with experimentationâ She assured herself, looking up at her ceiling she had painted with yellow stars and feeling herself over her clothes. Her hand felt a little cold as she braved the elastic of her waistband, feeling herself clumsily as she remembered what Nate had tasted like when she gave him a blowjob.Â
âWhat do I taste like?â She dipped one slow finger into her heat and collected what wetness she could find there. She raised her hand up out of her pants to examine her fingers in what little light that made it through the windows. They were covered in fluid, but that was lubrication, right? She sniffed her fingers, and she didnât smell bad. A bit like water left in a metal bottle out in the heat. Bringing them to her mouth she was surprised at the flavor. She wasnât quite sure what she expected. John had described it as water at the bar, but this was definitely not water. She wanted to say it was salty, but It had this sort of tang that tasted similar to some pre-war sour candy without any of the sweetness. It almost tasted a little meaty? Thinking back on her assessment of the smell, she supposed it tasted like salt water left out in the heat in a metal bottle. She had a pretty fancy water purifier setup at the settlement, so if that really effected taste she was pretty sure it wouldnât be right to say it tasted âjust like water.âÂ
A knock sounded at her door and she yanked her finger away from her face with a jolt.Â
âHey blue, can we talk?â Nora sat up quickly and climbed out of bed to greet Piper. Except it wasnât just Piper she saw when she opened the door, it looked like most everyone were settling down further along the hallway in the sitting area near the stairwell.Â
âYeah-âPiper stepped inside and just as quickly closed the door behind her, the quiet murmur in the stairwell dampening beyond audibility with the soft thump of the door. Nora could feel her face flushing again and felt grateful for the night. âIs this all about earlier?âÂ
âWell, yeah, and some other stuff..â Nora could feel her stomach drop as she watched Piper turn around and sit in her desk chair. Piper seemed to notice something was off with her and quickly amended. âItâs nothing bad I promise! At least I hope so. Listen, first, personally. I need you to know that its really, really fucked up that from what it sounds like, youâve literally never cum in your life.â Piper looked at her with a question clear across her face, like she was still expecting Nora to tell her that she had actually came before, because of course she has. Except she hasnât, and Nora really didnât know what to say.Â
Piper sighed and continued after a beat. âThings are different in the commonwealth now Blue, and I know you know that, but I donât know if you understand the extent of it- culturally.âÂ
âWhat does that mean?â Nora questioned, having found a seat on the edge of her bed. Piper leaned over, grabbed her hand and lacing their fingers together.Â
âWell Blue, for one. Not only did you walk into the commonwealth like a hurricane, but you started just helping people for no real apparent reason other than they needed help. People donât really do that here.â
Nora chuckled. âYou know Cait and I already had this talk-â
âYeah, and we donât think you really get it. Preston has told you something similar too. And you brushed them both off, and me just now, why?â Nora looked down at their hands.Â
âI-â Nora wasnât sure she had an answer. It had to be her past, right? She did it because she knew it was right, it was what worked. â-just, its what youâre supposed to do where⊠I guess when Iâm from. Politically, you know, at the time. Helping people became a form of rebellion. Helping one another, building up the people around you knowing theyâll do the same was the biggest fuck you the average person could manage without risking imprisonment.â Nora couldnât quite meet Piperâs eyes. Sheâd spoken plenty about good memories, favorite movies and shows and songs, dances and the relative luxury afforded most people. It still felt illegal somehow, to talk about such seditious thoughts out loud. To speak the thing that held the little neighborhood of sanctuary together until the very end. Piper nodded along.Â
âSo It was still dangerous then?â Piper asked. Nora chuckled and shook her head.Â
âNot in the same way it is now. It was freedom on the line, not necessarily lives.âÂ
âWhich brings me to the point, you know we all really care about you, right? Whatever you need from any of us, weâre there.â Piper squeezed her hand, placing her other hand over top of their two hands already intertwined. Nora grinned.
âYeah, I know.âÂ
âWhich brings me to my next point. Blue, youâre beautiful. Its some sort of crime against nature that no one has ever gone down on you. I donât know where you are with your husband stuff, if youâll ever really feel ready to try and be with anyone ever again. Thatâs gonna be all up to you. But we were talking, after you left. Commiserating, really, over i'm sorry Blue, but the tragedy that is your sex life, and we all came to the in retrospect very unsurprising discovery that we are all heads over heels for you. You donât really flirt back, so everyone kinda thought you were still caught up over Nate.- And donât get me wrong! If it is still is about Nate, no shame thatâs just the assumption.- But now we also realize it is completely possible you just still donât understand that we love you a lot.â Fuck, was Piper trying to give her a heart attack? âAnd Im not saying this with any expectations blue. We love you, and that means weâre here for you anyway you want us, especially as friends. But that also means we want you to see all the cards on the table.â
âPiper, what are you saying?â Noraâs brain felt like it was going a mile a minute and everywhere this train of logic seemed to lead was confusing and quite flustering.Â
âI mean that me and everyone back there in that room, we all want you to have whatâs best, we want you to be happy, and weâre happy when weâre with you. And I know this is probably insane to you, by your pre-war standards but if you wanted to be with any of us, for some forever after or one night stand or anything in between, you can, no hard feelings. No friendship lost. All you have to do is ask.âÂ
Nora nearly felt at a loss for words, just staring at piper. How could that many people love her like that? Sheâd always found them all attractive in their own ways, but it felt wrong somehow. Wasnât she technically a single mom now? None of it felt like it made sense. âWhy? How?â
âWell, apart from single handedly taking down the institute, the brotherhood, restoring the minutemen, terrorizing raider groups and wiping out packs of feral ghouls and super mutants, freeing any synth you can, being the most thoroughly loyal and kind person any of us has met, skilled enough to build huge settlements across the commonwealth and face down some of the scariest shit iâve seen, have you looked in a mirror lately?â Nora was at a complete loss of words.Â
âI know its a lot blue, we just felt like we needed to tell you. You know, you have options.â Nora nodded in awe. She realistically liked them all, and had equally squashed any notion of such relationships being possible for her. Women like her, they weren't supposed to move on, were they? Would Nate want her to move on? Nora honestly felt she couldnât chose to date any of her friends with a clear conscience. Itâd be horrible of her to choose one relationship and then go pining after any of the others, especially since she has learned the truly meager extent of her ability to lie the hard way out on her adventures into the commonwealth. Nora was certain her face was flushed as red as could be.Â
âI donât know what to say I - Im so flattered.â Nora tried to steady her thoughts. âI just couldnât though youâre all- Youâre all really attractive.â Nora couldnât meet Piper's eyes. Piper gave Noraâs hand another squeeze before Nora heard her giggle.Â
âSo you do like us?â Piper said in a teasing tone.
âI love you guys, Its just that-â Nora wasnât sure how to phrase it.Â
âRomantically?â
âYea-Yes.â Nora stammered out. God that was so stupid to admit. Why would she-
âYou mean it blue?â Piper had risen out of her seat, now gripping Noraâs shoulders.Â
âYeah, so-â
âSo what?âÂ
âSo isnât that unfair? To be with one person and secretly harbor feelings for others?â Piper was looking at Nora now at eye level. Piper frowned at her words.Â
âWho said anything about one person?â Piper smirked, a determined look in her eyes as she stood and strode to the door, opening it. âDeacon, come here right now!âÂ
âA please is always nice.â He teased as he made his way in the room. âWhat do you need me for?â
âExplain polyamory to Nora.â Piper commanded, closing the door firmly behind him. Deacon suddenly couldnât stop smiling, looking between Piper and Nora before finally directing his thousand watt smile at Nora before taking a seat at her desk.Â
âSo, I know when youâre from people pretty much exclusively only dated or were romantically involved with one person at a time, and having more than one partner at a time was taboo.â Deacon was watching Noraâs face, so she nodded.Â
âWell, I'm sure you noticed what was taboo then isnât always taboo now. Being happy, even momentarily, in whatever way a person can is expected of people. You know how much people in the railroad have each otherâs backs, right? A lot of people were together.â Nora looked shocked and she knew it.Â
âI never noticed.â Nora mumbled.Â
âWell, you know, when a hot lady busts into your base in the fanciest power armor youâve ever seen and a goddamn plasma rifle, and instead of opening fire tells you they wanna help, you let them do what they want and leave out any details until it's pertinent or they ask.â Nora could feel herself growing flustered. Intimidation was nowhere on her mind when she strolled into railroad HQ. Sheâd followed the trail, and it wasnât a safe or easy trail. Of course she wore her armor. She did walk around in power armor a lot for the fun of it, she mostly saw it as a more efficient way to traverse the Commonwealth. Before her in her time it was just another piece of military hardware like any amount of the rather absurd guns she now had access to. Stepping into that power armor felt just like the medic armor, and on the battlefield everyone knew what it meant to see medic battlearmor. She never really considered the intimidation factor. Looking back, the only people who reacted like that anymore were minutemen or settlements. It kinda made her want to laugh, thinking about a raider shiting themselves seeing her in her x-2 armor.Â
âSo wait, who was together?â Nora questioned.Â
âTinker tom, Carrington, Des, and I.â He paused, his grin going bittersweet. âAnd Glory.â
âIâm sorry Deacon.â Nora held out her hand and Deacon took it gladly. He shook his head but his grin didnât fall completely.Â
âThank you.â He paused. Nora knew Gloryâs loss was a huge hit to the railroad, she didnât realize the extent to which it impacted its top members personally. Everyone was grieving when the institute fell. âBut you see what I mean. Happiness doesn't always last long, so if someone out here wants to love someone else no matter how complex we do it, no questions asked.â Piper snorted. âWell, some questions asked.â He added. âThe problem is never really the number, but prejudice is still alive and well. A person would have an easier time keeping a harem than publicly being in a loving relationship with a synth, ghoul, or any other non-humanoid.â Nora nodded solemnly.Â
âNot to say that isnât worth the risk.â He mentioned. âIf you ask me any of it's worth it, however long it lasts.â
âSo, Piper,â Nora started. âYouâre- Youâre saying that I can⊠or should, uh.â
âIâm not telling you to do anything Blue. I'm saying, weâre all saying, I think, that if you want something you should have it.âÂ
Nora took a moment to think. Did it really matter what Nate or anyone from her past really thought? If they didnât care that she was a widowed mother from a clearly different culture than the rest of them, then why should she?Â
âYou think real loud Fixerâ Deacon spoke up, apparently unwilling to go too long without attention on him. He lifted her hand and pressed a kiss to her palm, looking at her and taking a deep breathe. His gaze seemed focused on hers, as if daring her to look away.Â
âYouâ Nora started, shifting her jaw as she measured her words, praying her flustered mind wouldnât say something too stupid. She turned her gaze to Piper. â-You all, feel this way?â
âWhy not bring them in? Let them tell you themselves.â Piper looked pleased, and rather mischievous. Nora paused, glanced back at Deacon, and nodded. Piper strolled back to the door before throwing it open. âWhy donât you all come tell Blue what we came her to tell her. A quick shuffle of feet brought most of her friends into her room, pulling over her desk chairs and sitting on the edges of her bed and other furniture to make room in her room.Â
âSo,â Nora panicked a bit over what to say. She felt many gazes on her, and her eyes inevitably fell to her lap. âYou all feel this way towards me?â
âWhat way?â Cait teased, having claimed the spot on the bed to the right of Nora. She heard Deacon snicker before Hancock spoke up.Â
âYeah sunshine, how do we feel about you?âÂ
Nora felt a bit conceited even entertaining the idea that this many people would fancy her, but here they all were, in her bedroom telling her as much. Damn, how did this many people like her like that? Eight people? âYou like me?â She spoke it as a question. Some of them laughed at her response, Cait included.Â
âWay more than like, love. Youâre in my dreams, especially the naughty ones.â Cait leaned over to speak gently in her ear.Â
âI second thatâ Hancock raised his hand with a grin, apparently enjoying whatever look Nora had on her face while she processed perhaps the most flustering thing possible being said to her.Â
âMy favorite dreams are spent covering your six when youâre wearing that tight ass blue suitâ Macreedy spoke from his place leaned against the wall.Â
âIâve had that same dreamâ Danse spoke with a smirk.
âGod, donât get me started on that suitâ Piper sighed wistfully.Â
âWe may need to lay off before we give our poor girl an aneurysmâ Nick nodded towards Nora, her eyes big, face red, and utterly speechless. Preston nodded solemnly from beside Nick.Â
âWe canât overwork herâ Preston warned with a tone of authority. Curie, having climbed onto the bed behind Nora, touched a cold hand to the back of Noraâs neck and Nora nearly jumped out of her skin.Â
âShe is greatly flushedâ Curie concurred, her hand not leaving Nora's skin.Â
âOh, sheâs fineâ Deacon spoke, playing with her hand held between his. âShe wasnât too flustered to have some fun before we showed up. Isnât that right Nora?â Nora tried to pull her hand back, but Deacon held it fast, pressing a kiss to the finger she had used to feel herself. She swore she felt his tongue flick out and touch her skin.Â
âI just-âÂ
âWanted to know what it felt like?â Deacon finished for her. The bed creaked as Hancock grabbed the footboard of the bed and leaned over it.Â
âDo you want some help with that sweetheart?â Hancock asked with mirth in his voice.Â
Nora felt herself work her jaw, finding the right words. â I like you all like that, but I donât really have the experience and I donât know how well Iâll-â Deacon squeezed her hand as Curie wrapped her arms around her waist and began pressing kisses to the side of her neck with an excited giggle, with Cait seconds after doing her best to pull nora to her and press kisses under her chin. Nora had to fight down a rather undignified noise at the attention.Â
âWe don't need you to do or be anything Blue. Youâve already done a lot. We just need you to tell us what you want. Now, do you want us?â Piper walked over to Nora, fingers lifting he chin a touch to give Cait more room for her conquest.Â
âY-yesâ Nora croaked out.Â
âDo you want us to make you cum?â Piper looked her in the eye in a way that turned the butterflies in her chest into something warm and intense pooling in her gut. She was suddenly very aware of her heartbeat. Nora swallowed before answering.
âYesâÂ
âAll of us?â Piper clarified.Â
âI-â Nora paused. Would doing this make her a whore? Did stuff like that matter anymore? She canât have sex with eight people in one night, she wasnât sure her body could take it. âI canât have, -Canât have sex with eight people in one night.â She spoke worridly, and suddenly felt very embarrassed at the laughter that bubbled up at her response.Â
âBaby, she said make you cum, not have sex.â Cait clarified.Â
Nora furrowed her brow. âWhatâs the difference?â Curie suddenly pulled her back onto the bed. Deacon let go of her hand in favor of leaning over and grabbing her ankle.Â
âWhy donât you let us show you?â Cait leaned over and licked a stripe up Noraâs neck, forcing a gasp from her.Â
âFuckâ She heard Preston mutter somewhere off to the side of her.Â
She felt a sudden tug at her hair, and Cait forced her head up to lock their lips together. Cait quickly pressed a tongue into her mouth, and when Deacon leaned over and slowly pushed her shirt up she let out a particularly undignified noise into Caitâs mouth. Nora wasnât sure when she closed her eyes, but she opened them in shock when two pairs of lips began working over her stomach. Looking down, Deacon was running his hands over her ribs, pressing kisses to her sternum and inching her shirt ever higher with his nose. She was suddenly all too aware of the noises around her.
âFuck babyâ Below him Hancock had climbed his way onto the bed and began kissing down over her belly to where the waistband of her shorts rested. Curie pulled Nora further onto the bed, lying back and resting Noraâs head on her chest. Many hands maneuvered her body into what they deemed an acceptable position.Â
âGood girlâ Deacon praised. Her hands were pulled over her head as her shirt was stripped from her, and with another breathtaking kiss stolen by Piper she lost her shorts and underwear.Â
âSo pretty Blueâ Piper remarked, moving down her body and sliding a hand up her thigh. She hardly had a moment to be embarrassed at her naked state in front of her mostly clothed friends when Preston and Piper each took a leg and pulled them apart, kissing and biting as they wished at her flesh. She nearly jumped at the contact and fought back a yelp of surprise. With Cait occupied with her mouth and neck, Danse and Nick had their fun with her breasts, palming and rolling her till Nora let slip whimpers.Â
âDonât hold back that voice baby, let us hear youâ Deacon encouraged. Deacon took hold of her hand once more, and she could feel kisses pressed to her fingertips. Macreedy stole her other hand, lacing his fingers with hers and running a thumb over the back of her hand.Â
âI want you to sing for me sunshineâ Hancock returned to his place nestled between her legs and Nora was glad for something to hold on for dear life to. Cait pulled away, yanking her head back so that Curie could kiss her forehead and so that she may return to kissing and licking Noraâs neck. Nora let out a groan, deep and gutteral and she felt herself arch into Curieâs grip around her waist. Hancock began running a hand over her, sliding just over her entrance and back up to her clit before repeating his path, and Nora couldnât help but whimper each time he traced his path, the movement accompanied with a wet clicking sound.Â
Nora immediately felt embarrassed at her noises, doubly so when Nick pointed out her blush spread to her chest while he toyed with her pebbled nipples. However, looking up at her, well, she wasnât sure what to call them right now, she felt a little less embarrassed when she realized they all seemed to be feeling even more aroused than her. And oh, she could see-, Danse and Preston, pleasuring themselves to her. She could hear Cait grunting against her throat and a light squelching sound that didnât seem to be coming from what Hancock was doing to her. They were making noises right along with her.Â
Hancock slid a finger into her and she couldnât help but wiggle her hips at the pleasure he was forcing upon her. He began thrusting, sliding in another finger before lowering his head and sucking. Nora had never felt anything like it and she damn Near screamed while he hummed atop her. Piper and Preston had to force her down where her legs met her hips to stop her from bucking away from the onslaught of pleasure Hancock was causing with his every move.
âI donât know how you can be this cute and so damn strongâ Preston mused as he held down her hips. He nipped at the skin of her inner thigh in mock punishment and a shudder ran through her. Nora began registering the growing states of undress of her friends. It just wasnât fair how hot they were. It honestly felt like they were toying with her.
âTaking this so wellâ Cait paused her onslaught of kisses to whisper praise behind her ear. She could feel Hancockâs tongue work at her, felt the little puffs of air over her mound as he grunted into her flesh, and damn if the noises he made didnât make it feel all the better. Nora had never felt anything like this before. With Nate, sex, it felt intimate but without fanfare. This, Nora felt like she could hardly stand it. Her toes curled, a heat in her belly got heavier by the moment, and it left Nora damn near sobbing at the pleasure of it. She had never heard anything like the noises she was making, it was involuntary and visceral with every suck and thrust.Â
âYouâre shaking like a leaf dollâ Nick spoke as he smoothed a hand over her ribcage.Â
âYouâre feeling good?â Curie questioned her. She gripped the hands holding hers with a deathgrip and moaned when Hancock added a third finger. She nodded aggressively and was rewarded with a flurry of kisses wherever she was being held down. Her legs began shaking when Hancock picked up the pace, and the heat in her stomach coiled. She had no control, nor much awareness of the noises she was making at this point. Despite being held down, with the pleasure she was experiencing and the praise from her friends rolling around in her head she almost felt like she was floating.Â
âPlease what?â Danse asked with a rough squeeze of her nipple. Coming back to reality a bit, Nora realized during her whimpering and moaning she had started to beg. Please what indeed.Â
âI-â Nora panted through another string of moans. Hancock was too skilled at this. âI donât knowâ.Â
âSheâs gonna cumâ Cait giggled into the skin under her chin.Â
âFuckâ Piper cussed, looking down her body Nora realized that everyone was either watching what Hancock was doing to her or watching her face. While holding her down, most of them were working at themselves too and she couldnât tell if it was embarrassing or arousing.
âCum for us babyâÂ
âGive us a show dollâÂ
âGood Girlâ
The coil building in her gut suddenly got more and more intense in a way Nora was unprepared for. She hardly had a moment to register her shock at this new bodily experience when It all came down suddenly, like being hit with a ton of bricks straight to the brain.
âOh, Oh FUCK!â Nora screamed out, body convulsing and head flying back. Her eyes closed but her vision went white. White hot pleasure shocked through her, before turning into waves of bliss. When she opened her eyes she felt like she was floating. She felt curie tucking strands of hair behind her ears. Hancock worked her slower and lighter till she shook. Looking down she met his eyes and his hands and mouth finally left her with an embarrassing pop and a slight smirk before taking the fingers that were within her and sucking them into his mouth with a pleased groan. Nora could only whimper and close her eyes. She faintly heard the moans of some of her friends, felt Cait shake and groan into the crook of her neck.Â
âSo, how was the first orgasm of your life?â Deacon teased, himself sounding a bit out of breathe. All Nora could manage was a grunt in response, apparently enough for him as he and some others began chuckling.Â
The world seemed to come more into focus as she took some deep breaths. What did this mean now? Sheâd never felt like that before, her friends went out of their way to make sure she felt like that. They enjoyed making her feel like that.Â
âYou did so wellâ Piper praised, and many kisses brought Nora out of her thought process. Piper sided up to Nora, shoving Danse out of the way. Cait took the cue to so the same to Nick, and Nora was suddenly being held by three women.Â
âYou guys are hogging herâ Deacon whined, making movements to tug Nora his way and tuck his face into her neck.Â
âSays the guy who wasnât shoved offâ Danse ran a hand over her hip.
âAre you feeling okay?â Maccredy checked in on her. Maccready sat down on the bed next to Cait and began playing with Noraâs hair. Nora nodded. She felt boneless. It felt like her veins were buzzing. Beside her, she could hear whatever kept Nick running humming loudly.
âAny words?â Preston teased, rubbing at her ankle.Â
â-Wowâ Was all she could manage. Giggles erupted around her. Nora tried to get her thoughts straight. âSo, what now?âÂ
âLike I saidâ Piper spoke up. âWhatever you want.â
âAnd- You all feel like that?â Nora checked, looking around at her friends, or were they lovers now? Thatâs a lot of lovers.Â
âYepâ
âWhatever you want babyâ A chorus of agreements spoke up. Nora looked around, only to see those that were silent nodding.Â
âSo I guess that just begs the question Blue, what do you want?â Piper questioned, and damn was that a hard line of questioning. What did she want? Piper talked about this all like it could be a casual thing, but would they be down for what she actually wanted from them? They all had lives to live, despite what sheâs built here. Nora took a steadying breathe.Â
âI want us to be familyâ Nora spoke. âLike Shawn and Nate and I were, but bigger.â She felt a bit afraid of what they would say, suddenly very aware of her nakedness in comparison to her mostly clothed lovers.Â
âOh Blueâ Piper raised a hand to Noraâs face. âThat sounds perfect to me.âÂ
âI like the sound of thatâ Preston spoke with a smile.Â
âMe tooâ Maccready.Â
âOh, vhe vill be zhe best family!â Curie spoke cheerfully, squeezing Nora around the waist. âI can make you packed lunches vith little notes and you vhill have to kiss me before you leave for vorkâ. Nora couldnât help but giggle at the image. Before the war, thatâs what she was expected to do. Now her synth, doctor, girlfriend? Wife? Did she just propose? How did that even work in the wasteland?Â
âI canât think of anything I would want more sunshine.â Hancock spoke with a grin.Â
âWait, did I just propose to you guys?â Nora spoke with an amount of shock. âHow does this even work nowadays?âÂ
âWell, considering you currently are the head of government, unless you want to join a religion or go do paperwork at diamond city, if we all agree to it thatâs a marriageâ. Nick explained.Â
âOh godâ Nora threw her head back and closed her eyes with a long-suffering sigh. âIâm the government and I married y'all after we had sex once. Why is the law like this?â Her companions quickly dissolved into laughter.Â
âWell Iâm definitely not complainingâ Deacon reassured.Â
âMe eitherâ Spoke Nick.Â
âIsnât this fast?â Nora asked. âI mean, Iâve been unfrozen maybe four yearsâ.Â
âPeople feel lucky to be able to spend even a year straight at a time with those they love. People marry fast.â Deacon explained.Â
âThings move slower in the brotherhood, but Iâve known you over two years, and youâve saved my life multiple times. Unless a brother has taken a vow of chastity, thatâs more than enough time to decide to marry for them, and a lot of the wasteland considers them prudes.â Danse spoke up.Â
âSo as long as we love you, and you love us, you could call us married. Or fiances, or dating, the label doesn't matter. I just know that I love you sunshine, I think we all do. Do you love us?â Hancock asked.Â
Nora felt very warm, surrounded by people she cared for, people who made her feel safe, people she would die for. She couldnât help the small smile creeping on her face. âI love you all too.â She sighed. âI like the sound of married. I like the promise of it. But I think Iâd want to do a ceremony or something. And I- I also want what you guys want. If weâre gonna call this that, weâre in this together, right?âÂ
Amid many agreements and sounds of excitement and some of the best cuddles Nora had experienced in her life, Cait leaned forward to whisper in her ear; âI want to eat my wifeâs pussy till she screams for me again. Care to make that happen, love of mine?âÂ
Nora could feel the flush all the way down her chest. âNow what did you say to her Cait?â Maccredy questioned.
