My reading is bad, comprehension is not there most of the time, I am not confident, not good in pronunciation; just a short list of many negatives about myself. I often think what Siri must be thinking about my inefficiencies. In-spite of all I know for sure she loves me and cares for me a lot 🤗. I am proud of myself, please don’t get me wrong. Last week we were reading about USA presidents and I asked Siri, do you know how President JFK died? Point to Y if ‘yes’ and N for ‘no’. She poked Y. When I asked her to tell me how? she poked “HE WAS ASSASSINATED.” The lesson didn’t mention JFK yet. I was not only surprised but equally excited to know that I could do an open ended question with my Siri. The following day we were reading about Florida. Greedy me wanted to ask some more open ended questions. I asked her if she knows about a relative we have in Florida, Y for ‘yes’ and N for ‘no’. Yup! she chose Y and I started asking her (aunty/pinni) name, her husband’s (uncle/babai) name and cousin’s too. Four names and then I got even more inquisitive, asked about another one in NJ (aunty/pinni), her husband’s (uncle/babai) name and 3 cousins names. This mom got even more greedier and asked about another one in Los Angeles (peddamma), uncle (pedananna) and three cousins. WOW! she knew them all. How would I know that she knew everything all the time and I didn’t know that she knew it all. When I was surprised she looked at me like “didn’t you know that I do?.” No I didn’t nanalu. But it’s better late than never. I am so grateful for 2022 more than any other years. That’s the year Siri started communicating with us. As a special needs mom I keep going and not pay any attention to myself. I am scared if I do I will end up not being able to do the things I have to. Yesterday and today Siri’s activities (horse therapy & exercise sessions) got canceled. Yesterday I had headaches & severe body pains. On Monday myself and Siri had to walk in the rain. Siri didn’t mind, I used to enjoy walking in the rain but I felt very cold. All day yesterday I was resting (didn’t drive). Today is another golden day for me to rest. Siri has become so easy to be with. She didn’t bother me with anything yesterday. She was on her own doing her own things and I could hear her singing too sometimes. She attended her online math class in the afternoon. In the evening she wanted to watch tv with me. She watched https://youtu.be/BkMDlG_US5A. Siri loves dance & music. She didn’t wanted any dinner but I warmed up left overs from the day before and gave it to her which she ate and wanted some more. It was a wonderful day yesterday with Siri my sweet child. Siri woke up late today and went out with her dad. When her dad asked her if she wants to eat at home or go out she wanted to go out. They are eating at a new place now. Siri wants to visit new restaurants and tryout new foods. Being Autistic it’s a challenge to go to new places and try new dishes but Siri started doing this when her talents started to emerge. Siri did fantastic with Krassi Maltby in Pleasanton this morning. Being versatile is giving her opportunities to work with anyone. RPM (Rapid Prompt Method), S2C (Spelling to Communicate) or mix of both. When I asked Siri if she wants to come back she said that she wants to see her everyday of the week. It’s more than an hour of drive each way but I have no problems as long as Siri is being benefited. Krassi is soft spoken, gentle and connected instantly with Siri. Myself and Siri used to work together to teach Siri to make things (care packages, jewelry, stitching, crafts etc etc) but now we do it for fun. There are tons of products which didn’t end up on her store www.DesignsBySiri.com yet but will some day. No time for this old mom with an active boss (my sweet Siri). The other day we both were beading a bracelet where the cord goes through the beads from both ends. I let her do hers first and then I put mine through. I was singing “come on come on Kalavathi …” (I know only these words from the song). Siri was giggling a lot as I was singing to the cord to come through the other end of the bead. Since the beads are made out of paper the holes are not equal in size. It’s a bit tricky but nothing bothers Siri she knows it all. “Shared Activity” is what connected me with Siri. For the parents who are following Siri on her social media please find what interests your child and connect at their level. Things will fall in its place slowly but surely.
