Album Review: "Sad Songs with Happy Endings" by Atlas & Oracle
"You never reach a point in this album where it starts to feel monotonous or redundant. There is nothing to skip." - Gimpleg reviews the newest album from Atlas & Oracle
Review by Gimpleg Atlas & Oracle newest album is a themed album described perfectly by the title, Sad Songs with Happy Endings. What that title doesn’t tell you is that these are 7 songs that feature and collaborate with 7 different bands and while all seven are ska, all 7 are heavily influenced by different genres. This makes for an amazing album. The fact that all seven songs are still Atlas &…

makes me a little sad when star trek ignores IDIC. like. vulcans are logical. that is true. But 'logical', for vulcans, does not amount to 'without compassion,' and it definitely doesn't amount to 'racial superiority.' Belief in 'infinite diversity in infinite combinations' should NOT result in the weird racist/speciest stuff we're getting in some of the newer treks. It does make sense that some vulcans are discriminatory. They're still flawed. But that should not be common or expected, like it seems to be in SNW. If it is, then it's a race of hypocrites, which. doesn't seem very true to Star Trek's message.
I think TOS Spock does a pretty good job of embodying this. Not always, it was the 60s, after all, but mostly. He was often trying to find non-violent routes, and get by without killing - even if they were in danger or had already been attacked. (See: the mugato, and the horta (until Kirk was the one in danger, lmao. t'hy'la > IDIC), the Gorn ship). Kirk, in his eulogy, calls him the most human soul he's ever known, and I've always read that as Kirk calling out Spock's overwhelming compassion.
It's just so much more interesting when Vulcans get to be radically compassionate. I want them to believe that everything and everyone has value. I want them to respect all ways of being. I want them to find ways for even very non-humanoid aliens to exist unfettered in society. I want them to see hybrids and think that it's amazing. Also, like, disability rep. I want Vulcans to have The Most Accessible Planet and available resources because they want everyone to feel accepted and valued. It makes for better characters and more interesting stories.

Money saving pro-tips to people from warm climates that move to a cold climate
Source: I lived with a southerner and a girl from LA in a northern city in the US and they wasted a lot of money.
Tip #1: Drop your heat at night, or any time you’re not home. Most people up north don’t keep the heat at the same temp 24/7. That shit's expensive. When I’m home, I keep my heat anywhere between 65-68F, but during the workday, or at night, that shit goes down to 60F. A lot of thermostats are programmable so you can have it set automatically to turn down while you're at work/at night.
Tip #2: If you’re leaving your home for over 24 hours, lower the heat as much as possible. I set mine to 55F. Apartments and even houses heat up pretty quickly, so there’s no reason to waste money if no one’s around, and you won’t die if you have to wear your coat indoors for a few minutes. Note: you can’t turn your heat off completely or your pipes will freeze.
Tip #3: If you’re home but you’re only going to be occupying one room for several hours, consider leaving the heat low and just buying yourself a space heater.
Tip #4: When buying a space heater, get one that has an internal timer or thermostat. They cost slightly more, but the bonus to these is that they don’t just continue putting heat into the air until you intervene. They will turn themselves on/off in intervals, which helps to keep your room at a more consistent temperature. Just don’t forget to make sure the heater is switched off if you’re leaving your home!
Tip #5: Get better socks. A lot of the cold you feel is actually just ur terrible, flimsy ankle socks not protecting you from the cold floor. If I’m lounging around at home, I wear those heavy duty fuzzy socks that have a whole internal double lining. I’m a raynaud’s bitch so I know what I’m talking about.
Tip #6: Fleece-lined leggings. Steal your bf’s fleece pants. Why do they make men’s casual sweats so much thicker than girl’s casual sweats? Literal bullshit.
Tip #7: Idk who lied to you and told you that a bed can only have one comforter, but that’s dumb. I sleep with two. It’s much warmer.
Tip #8: If you're in an old apartment/house, winterize your windows. You can buy winterizing seals and insulation anywhere online and it's very cheap.

mr coriolanus snow did not live by "snow lands on top" + take pleasure in making sejanus squirm and having power over him (+ get thoroughly upset when he didn't) + spend every waking moment of his entire life scheming to be the top dog with all the power and control + fail and refuse to truly trust anyone + muse multiple times about wanting to put his hands on sejanus + get Uncomfortable whenever things didn't go how he specifically expected + behaved as sejanus's keeper that took care of him all the time for y'all to be calling him a sub bottom now... my fellow countrymen, you can't let the whole skinny, white, blond with light eyes combo fool you into such treacherous heresy. sejanus was his sweet, sensitive, wide-eyed, rabbit-like fool with soulful eyes! and he was his keeper! snow lands on top! on top, he said! t-o-p! 🗣️🔛🔝‼️

i can imagine DR sans telling toriel a science-based joke, and when she doesn’t understand he tries to explain what the joke means, but it shifts into a full on ramble about quantum physics
sans is lucky he’s got the cougar up stat bonus otherwise idk how the hell toriel wants that guy
are you telling me an elementary school teacher of all people—dispenser of interesting snail facts, the gastropod entusiast herself—would ever fault her new bestie for infodumping about a topic he's clearly passionate about?? FOOL! she would ask him to elaborate and then listen politely while understanding nothing, in part due to sans' own meandering and counterlogical metaphors, but most likely due to her present mind being occupied by thoughts of convenience store based public indecency

The thing about Age Swap AU that I really like is the fact that both Mob and Reigen are inherently so much more unstable.
On Reigen's end, most of it is from the fact that he's a kid—he doesn't have the same amount of emotional intelligence because he has less experience overall, and the fact that his relationship with his parents isn't,,,,great, even in a canon setting. A boy still mucking around in the trenches of parental abuse/neglect is always going to be more rickety emotionally and mentally than a grown man who's been given years to heal and distance himself from it.
And then there's Mob. Mob is a bit more a wild card in this area, just because without Reigen his childhood is more or less an unknown. Did Mogami find him? Would it have made him crueller if Mogami mentored him instead? What about Claw? Did they take him in? Is he still with them, did they fall, does he regret it? Is he jaded or riddled with guilt or stuffed so far back in his shell that it takes a little blond boy wielding a huge emotional and verbal hammer to start breaking through it? Either way, I definitely don't see him being as emotionally stable as canon Mob. He likely hasn't reconciled with Shigeo, he probably never truly accepted his powers, and thus has the emotional maturity of a ten year old—Reigen still beats him on this. Mob's only point of positive advice would've been Ritsu, and that's....I mean, it's Ritsu. He hasn't had any significant good influences in his life so he absolutely struggles on how to be one himself.
The potential for these two to be codependent is SO much higher and I love it. Unhealthy dynamics are my absolute JAM (one of the reasons I have this animatic rotating in my head at top speeds 24/7 365) so the inherent prickliness of whatever Wrongness™ these two have going on just. has me. Reigen clings because it's all he knows how to do—even if Mob banishes him from the office, he's a persistent kid that hasn't learned you shouldn't chase after moody grown men with emotions so repressed it manifests as a literal eldritch alter with no morals to curb its desires. And Mob has had to go even longer alone in this sort of universe than ever, and Reigen is likely the only person who's never been afraid of him; he's latching onto that kid like bear trap and never letting go. He's still tenderhearted, but it's plagued with years and years of loneliness and inner turmoil that he's had no one around to soothe; he's over a decade too late for 'healthy'. Not that Reigen minds <3

Video Premiere: Atlas & Oracle "Fade Away"
This project seeks to establish "pop ska" as its own genre distinct from the styles of either collaborator.
Fade Away, the first collab between Common Sense Kid and ska-pop collective Atlas & Oracle, lies somewhere between the electronic-inspired ska punk of CSK and the ethereal ska-inspired pop of Atlas & Oracle. The second installment in a series of collab tracks, this project seeks to establish “pop ska” as its own genre distinct from the styles of either collaborator. The music video was shot…

I feel like writers, official and fan writers alike, forget how young Jason is, but also that it makes sense that Jason as a character would carry himself as older than he is. When you do the math utrh Jason is like high school senior/college freshman years old doing mob boss shit. Like my brother in christ put that duffle bag down and go get your GED. Barely even old enough to be in the club he needs to take his ass to the homecoming game
