Literally there are so many other characters in the Young Avengers who are super hero fans or who are carrying on the legacy of someone they admire. Eli is carrying on this grandfather's legacy, Billy and Teddy are fanboys cosplaying as Thor and the Hulk, Cassie is a hero because she idolizes her dad.

There's absolutely no need for Kate to also be a fangirl, or for her to start training because she wants to be just like her hero, because those roles are already better explored with these other characters! Going from being a fan to being a hero or carrying on a mentor or loved one's legacy is already a part of the other Young Avengers' arcs.

And like, yes, she is a legacy hero in the sense that she is carrying on the name of an older superhero (given to her by Captain America and, again, not something she chose for herself because she was just such a big Hawkeye fan) but she's also her own person and her motivations and origins are completely separate from Clint Barton.

Reducing her to being a Hawkeye fangirl begging him to train her is frankly insulting and I'm tired of this.

“What would you prefer I do? You cry every time we have a confrontation,” Damian pointed out, slamming the pillows back into place against the head board.

“Just stop!” Jon shouted, finding his ground again and glaring over the bed at Damian. “Leave me alone!”

“You want to be alone? Fine!” Damian yelled, turning and grabbing his jacket before storming out of the bedroom and slamming the door. He stormed to the front door of the apartment and slammed that one too for good measure.
